The operator of the guest house has changed as of August 2026.Please note that the services, house rules, etc. are slightly different for repeat guests. We renovated a two-story storehouse built in the Edo period and turned it into a guest house. It's not very large, but it retains the atmosphere of a traditional earthen-walled storehouse, with thick beams and more. There's a kitchen on the first floor with an IH cooking heater.Fully air-conditioned on the 1st and 2nd floors for a comfortable stay.You can experience the sound insulation, the coolness of the summer, and the warmth of winter. There is a sauna facility about 5 minutes away by car, Anekawa Onsen about 15 minutes away, and Kita-Omi-no-Yu about 20 minutes away. There are many sightseeing spots unique to Nagahama, which are often the setting of history. In addition to the area around Lake Biwa, Japan's oldest railway station building, Nagahama Railway Square, Yanmar Museum where children can play, Kurobai Square, and other activities other than history. To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.
