Kihachikan South Nozawa Onsen

Kihachikan South is a luxurious and homely family chalet. It has three bedrooms; one double, one twin and one smaller single room. The light filled, open plan kitchen and living room features a locally made oak kitchen that includes a Miele oven and induction hob and Miele dishwasher. The kitchen is fully supplied with all the main amenities including; a rice cooker, toaster, microwave, coffee machine and full cooking utensils should they be required. The comfy sofa seating area focusses around a cast iron pellet stove and the latest Bang & Olufsen television and sound system including live feed from the ski hills and Netflix. The daily readings from the traditional barograph will keep you ahead of the weather apps …….. possibly! The bedrooms maintain a traditional feel with shoji windows, wooden beams and authentic wall coverings with the addition of discreet blinds, wooden flooring and western style beds. The bedroom wardrobes in Japanese oak were made to order in Nagano. The bathrooms include walk in showers with locally made hinoki shower benches. The upstairs bathroom with both slate and wooden flooring also contains a separate seating area and large bath tub. The upstairs bathroom enjoys great views over to Togari and Mount Myoko. Dyson hair dryers are supplied in the two main bedrooms. The artwork throughout the Kihachikan South is a mixture of original Japanese woodblock prints and an extensive collection of original 16th & 17th century antique maps of Asia. Kihachikan South has a Miele washing machine and separate Miele clothes dryer.The ski, board and boot room is downstairs and shared with Kihachikan North and contains snow shoes for guest use (when available).

It is located in the quiet Misorano Besso area, about an 8-minute walk from the center of Hakuba Village, "Eco Land", and is a location that fulfills the motto of "busy when you play, quiet when you sleep". Popular ski resorts such as Able Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba 47, Hakuba Happo-one, Iwatake, Tsugaike, Sanosaka, and Cortina are about 10-25 minutes away by car. It is ideal for skiers and snowboarders who want to use the shuttle bus to go to different slopes every day. The building is a log house wrapped in the warmth of wood. It can accommodate up to 11 people and is a great base for multiple families on a snowy mountain trip or a group skiing trip. After a day of skiing, you can relax in the spacious living room, cook in the kitchen, enjoy a BBQ on the deck, and enjoy a Hakuba stay where you can "stay as if you were living with everyone". Convenience stores and supermarkets are also within driving and walking distance, so you can rest assured for long-term stays and self-catering. It is about a 10-minute drive from JR Hakuba Station, and it is a private rental villa that is close to both "skiing days" and "relaxing days".

Surrounded by mountains, you can walk or jog nearby, suitable for a holiday with family and friends. The open plan area on the second floor, gives access to the entrance room area, the kitchen, dining & living area and bathroom downstairs. While upstairs leads to two separate traditional Japanese Style rooms. Easily accessible by car to 4 of the local ski resorts. A all wheel drive car is recommended to get the most out of your visit, parking is available.

Renovated to be open, modern and spacious our chalet is only 20 minutes drive from Nagano City, Togakushi and Iizuna ski resorts. It is less than 5 minutes walk to many cafes and restaurants and the new Nagano Forest Village. There, you can buy local produce, craft beers & wine, and walk around the beautiful area. We recommend driving to explore more around the highlands and snow tires (or chains) are a must have during winter.
