　The stylish space created by the renovation of the old private house is fashionable and somewhat nostalgic.It is located in a quiet place close to the Shiga prefectural government, with Lake Biwa spreading out in front of you.In the spacious area where the walls and fusuma have been removed, you can gather with your family and friends for the first time in a long time.There are also corners here and there, away from the crowds, where you can look at yourself in front of the mud walls and gardens. 　The house was built by my grandparents in collaboration with a carpenter at the time, and my granddaughters, who became architects, worked with the carpenters of today to breathe new life into it.We carefully revived the old while clashing the interesting aspects of ideals and reality, rationality and waste, and consulting with funds.This spirit can be felt in the mismatched dishes that are still usable and the cushions of different thicknesses.The objects tell us that we can do it without straining ourselves. 　There is an indoor tiled bath, but there is also a public bath with a sauna nearby.The small coffee stand at the entrance serves breakfast and lunch from 10:00 to 15:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.Guests staying at the hotel can also use this service.

A private rental inn "Atan" quietly stands on the banks of the Gojo Takase River This space, where natural materials such as cedar, earth, and Japanese paper breathe quietly, blends into the city of Kyoto, but the flow of time feels gentle. There is a small courtyard through the bathroom window. Just by soaking in the hot water and letting yourself go with the view of the changing seasons, your mind will melt away. Space, quiet, and a little bit of luxury. This is a place for those who want to enjoy time doing nothing rather than packing their schedule while traveling. Wake up in the morning to the soft light through the sliding doors, and end the day quietly at night while watching the shadows fall on the garden. The time here is memorable not only for what you see, but also for the temperature of the air, the feel of the soles of your feet, and the quietness of the sounds. It's nice to talk to someone, or to spend time alone. I hope this place is a place where you can take a little distance from your daily life and check your own outline. The name "Ootan" we wanted to create an inn where you can encounter landscapes, air, people, words, and stories you have never encountered before. A little story will surely be born in this space where you spend your time.

It is conveniently located just 3 stops from Kyoto Station (about 13 minutes by ride), but it is not crowded, so you can spend quietly avoiding the crowds.Easy access to major tourist attractions in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga (Fushimi Inari 35 minutes/Uji 45 minutes/Gion 40 minutes, Osaka 46 minutes).Close to the world cultural heritage of Enryaku-ji Temple, Omi Shrine, and Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine, you can also walk around the lake while enjoying Japanese cultural heritage such as Karasaki Shrine and Sakamoto Castle Ruins within walking distance. The attached jazz bar and live space has a nice sound system and stage.Currently, we are doing live jazz (weekend afternoons) at roughly once a month, and the jazz bar is open only on weekend evenings (about 3 hours from 18:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and Sundays), so you should be mindful of noise due to music playing in the store at that time.There is a complimentary live music charge for weekend bookers and 1 free drink if it's jazz bar hours. Excellent access, with a direct 9-minute train ride to Kyoto Station, approximately 34 minutes to Shin-Osaka Station, and about 60 minutes to Kobe!️ You can also get here from Tokyo Station or Kansai Airport with one transfer via Kyoto Station. In the area around the station, you will find restaurants, a supermarket, a convenience store, and a tourist information center.
