Boutique hotel holiday rentals in Lake Superior

This was perfectly situated for our needs and right in the heart of an area that brought back many memories for my husband who grew up in Superior. The suite was roomy, very clean, easy to get in and out of, and it had several appliances for added convenience. It was a nice touch to have books and some games in the room, too. We will definitely consider staying here, again!!

Our family of 4 had an absolutely lovely two-nights stay here. The photos do not do it justice. All the furniture felt upscale, sturdy and comfortable. The entire place was so well designed. Every little thing from the colorful dishes to the shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the shower added to the aesthetic. I loved the two-story private unit that we rented — it had its own private balcony/deck area off the top floor, where we enjoyed sunrise views of Lake Superior. But the entire Mayhew Inn is so fun. Communal places to sit in front of a fire or hangout with board games. All the local spots (including grocery stores) are easily walkable. We also went hiking in Cascade State Park (about 10-15 minutes away) and there were many waterfalls!

This place was exactly like the pictures. The room was good and clean. The bed was really big which was really nice. The only thing was that the light is yellow so it looks a little dimmer inside. Overall, the place is great and very easy to check-in host has really clear instructions as well. Highly recommended!

Loved our stay here! The location is PERFECT if you're wanting to do anything in downtown; you can walk anywhere, and looking over the lake was an incredible way to wind down! We did think the photos made the rooms look bigger than they were, but that's so minor. Just feels worth noting. :) The hosts were incredible responsive whenever we had questions, and booking their spot was very easy. There was a little hiccup when we booked, but they got it all sorted out right away. Highly recommend! We want to come back and try all of their rooms!

We loved our stay at The Mayhew! The place is comfortable like it’s someone’s home, it’s got all the amenities you could ask for in a vacation rental (plus the fun extras like a rooftop deck and outdoor fireplace in common areas), and the location is unbeatable for easy access to shops, restaurants, and things to do. We would absolutely stay at The Mayhew again!

We had a good stay in Grand Marais in the plaid room. Minifridge is quite large. Shower temp and water pressure were great. It was nice to have the lounge to go to in the morning before my wife was awake. The blackout curtains worked well. My wife found the bed comfy but it was too soft for me. It was super windy and the building had loud strange noises. Sounded like someone was stacking metal shipping containers a few blocks away during the night. Ear plugs helped.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mayhew. The inn and my room were cozy and inviting. It was a quick walk from the parking lot and easy to access the inn gate and hotel room. I loved being able to walk out to cafes, stores, and the lake front. The little “kitchen” area was small but had everything I needed. I appreciated having the microwave and refrigerator, and the coffee provided was great. You could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the room decor and amenities. All in all it was a luxurious and restful getaway.

We loved it! Our room was clean, spacious and well appointed~really loved the small table and chairs which came in handy for a meal and a game of backgammon. The bed was super comfy too.

We enjoyed our stay! Amazing views of the lake, we enjoyed the sauna and the host were very responsive! The Airbnb is tucked away and sits right next to the lake! Feels very private which we enjoyed. The room was very cozy and loved that they had extra essentials (shampoo, body wash, makeup remover wipes) to use in the bathroom. Definitely will be coming back soon! Thank you!

Great stay and location on my way through the UP. Timothy was super nice and responsive, check in and out were easy. The room, refrigerator, microwave, bathroom everything I used was very clean. Bed was comfy and I appreciate the trails out back and dog area. Met other nice guests, just a good vibe. I recommend.

Timothy is a fantastic host. My stay with my dog was excellent. The bed's comfort is outstanding. Thank you Timothy for the outside dog run. Very helpful when traveling with Maurie, my golden retriever!

A great place to stay! Very clean and beds were comfortable. The shower is very small, but manageable.
