[House Story] This house was born out of a childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cozy cabin and the tranquility of nature, like something out of a story. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband, Andy, took over a cottage that was scheduled to be demolished just one month later. An old private house for rent just one group per day, surrounded by rivers and forests. Here, you can enjoy the time itself while wrapped in sound, fire, water, and stars. The music room has a grand piano, drum, guitar, and bass. In the pizza oven experience (extra charge), you bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and at night watch the stars and the Milky Way surrounded by BBQs and bonfire fires. In the summer, you can play in the river just around the corner, and enjoy a tent sauna (extra charge) in nature. There is a former cafe full kitchen in the old house, so everyone can cook together or read quietly in the library. Feel free to spend every “time you like”. The bath is a ceramic bathtub with Shinraku-yaki. Relax your mind and body while being surrounded by the warmth of a wood-burning fire and the scent of cypress. Not a hotel, but spending time in "our own place" where no one is disturbed. Enjoy such a luxurious time. Transportation is also available to the nearest station. "'OLI' OLI no Ki" is located in a quiet villa area near the popular tourist destination of Metasekoya. Spacious LDK with over 23 tatami mats. The wooden deck overlooks the Hachioji River. Enjoy the babbling of the river and the wonderful scenery that changes with the seasons while enjoying a barbecue or tea time. There are two large bathtubs and showers where you can relax in the bath. Families and groups can all bathe together. Also within walking distance is Hachioji-sanso, Makino Shiraya Onsen. It is a hot spring facility where you can enjoy one of the best 100% natural radon hot springs in Kansai. Please feel free to use it. You can enjoy a barbecue on the outdoor wooden deck. You don't need to bring any tools. Please bring only ingredients, condiments, and drinks. * In case of strong winds, we may ask you to refrain from using the barbecue area for safety reasons. ⚠︎ Because the mountains are close and the location is rich in nature, insects may appear indoors depending on the season, even if we take countermeasures. Built in the early Showa era and long used as a tea ceremony classroom, the townhouse has been reborn as a private rental inn, "Kyomachiya Cottage karigane". It is a 1-minute walk to the hot springs and Daikokuji Temple, which has deep ties to tea. Shino, with its unique cafes, coffee roasters, delicious Japanese confectionery stores, bakeries, and soba shops. Please use the carefully restored Kyomachiya as your base for sightseeing in northern Kyoto, where time flows slowly, with a focus on natural materials and traditional craftsmanship by Miyadai Koge and Saigo craftsmen.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
