Villa in Totara North
Kauri Hill Estate
Please note that these properties have open plans and privacy between bedrooms may be limited. Please speak with your Villa Specialist for more detail.  Combine 2 neighboring villas and invite even more friends to the party at this Harbor view hillside estate in New Zealand. Stargaze from the hot tubs on wrap-around decks, dine alfresco amongst lush greenery and catch up on some reading while sailboats navigate the harbor below. After a hike through the estate's private trails, check out nearby golf courses, wineries, and beaches.  Group gatherings are a breeze at Kauri Hill Estate, but when you'd like to sneak away with that special someone, that's when you'll truly appreciate the 2 separate houses. The kids will love watching movies and hanging out in the smaller lounges while the adults turn up the sound system in the main room. When the party inevitably moves to the terrace, fire up the grill and turn it into a barbeque.  Catch the big game on satellite television, and invite some friends, there's parking for 7 and a helipad. If you're playing host, the combined dinner seating for the estate is 14 inside and 14 alfresco. After dinner, let your inner mixologist shine and get crafty with a few cocktails in the kitchen. And, don't worry about the heat, both villas are fully air-conditioned.  Cycling enthusiasts and thrill seekers will want to test out the trails at Waitangi Forest. Whether you're into long distance or mountain biking, you'll find what you're looking for in the forest. Want to get out on the water? Go after some blue and Stripped Marlin in Whangaroa Harbor, fishing charters are readily available. Then, shoot at round at Kauri Cliffs, a favorite stop on the PGA Tour.  Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Villa in Acacia Bay
Taupo's Edge
Listen to the crackling of a wood burning fire as you gaze overtop the lush canopy leading down to Lake Taupo at this nature-loving villa in New Zealand. Sunbathe in the courtyard, kick back in a bean bag chair, and cool off in the alfresco shower. When you’re ready to explore, start by following a nearby bush track that winds through the forest and leads down to the lake.   Flow from inside to out as freely as the cool cross-breeze thanks to wall-length openings on nearly every perimeter wall. Under a vaulted-ceiling, the open concept main room is ready to host unforgettable family dinners, late nights with friends, and lazy afternoons. Sip cocktails and watch the sailboats from the balcony while the kids watch a movie in the Smart TV lounge or play soccer on the courtyard’s lawn. Stop by one of the local markets in Taupo and pick up some freshly caught lake fish for a barbeque. Dine at the alfresco set, letting the forest and lake views set the perfect tone. There are 3 parking spaces, a garage, and security cameras, so invite some new friends. When it’s late, move the party inside and let your inner mixologist get creative at the bar. Lake Taupo, Huka Falls, and Mount Tauhara are just a few of the natural wonders nearby, so bring your hiking boots. If there’s an angler in the group, boat rentals and fishing charters are available from Lakefun Taupo. While you’re out on the water, swing by Taupo Maori Carvings, a historic rockface in Acacia Bay. Then, head 11 kilometers into Taupo for a night on the town.  Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Villa in Taupo
The Point Villa Ngahere
Nothing but bushland surrounds this wonderfully private villa on the shores of Lake Taupo. Watch the sun move across the mountains and water from the shade of the pergola on the terrace or beneath the vaulted ceiling of the open-concept great room. Hike to the footbridge over the roaring Huka Falls, cycle the nearby Great Lake Trail, or fish for trout—the only way to taste this local specialty.  You’ll have to decide whether the views of Mine Bay are best from the swimming pool, hot tub, or the outdoor lounging and dining areas. If you’re lucky enough to have caught a local trout, try preparing it on the barbecue (or call a restaurant in Taupo to do the job). After a day out on the lake or in the mountains, the smart TV, Wi-Fi, and gas fireplace are ready to help you unwind.  Fold-away glass walls make the great room feel like an extension of the sunny terrace. Here, you can stretch out on a wicker sofa, whip up something delicious in the fully equipped kitchen, or relive the day’s adventures with friends and family around a dining table for 8, all under a vaulted ceiling that makes the space bright and airy.  Each of the 3 bedrooms at this luxury vacation rental has a king bed and en-suite bathroom; 2 of them have lake views and one opens directly to the terrace with the hot tub, for couples who might want to relive their honeymoon.  The Point Villa Ngahere offers a quintessential New Zealand holiday, with gorgeous scenery, outdoor adventure and great food all close at hand. It’s a 1-minute drive to the Taupo Maori Carving, which can also be seen from the water on a kayak tour, and a short drive to both the brilliant blue waters of Huka Falls and the town of Taupo.   Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All about North Island

Exploring New Zealand

A far-flung destination filled with unique fauna and flora and mesmerizing landscapes, New Zealand is well worth the long-haul flight it will take most of us to get there. Adrenaline junkies and nature lovers alike flock here in great numbers every season to take advantage of this vast outdoor playground, and revel in its rare beauty. Make sure you don’t miss a second of New Zealand’s gorgeous sights by staying in one of our luxury villas, many of which feature panoramic windows in almost every single room.

Experiencing a villa in New Zealand

Some of Luxury Retreat’s most architecturally impressive villas are found on New Zealand’s South Island, surrounded by acres of green pastures and rugged mountains that stretch out as far as the eye can see. Guests looking to relax and spend some quality time with their family will love the combination of state-of-the-art amenities and rustic design elements that bring comfort to our villas. The South Island is also home to several expansive lakes, making it a dream destination for water sports enthusiasts. Guests can try stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and even thrilling novelty activities like jet propelled fly-boarding. History buffs will love getting to know the region’s fascinating Maori culture, and bird lovers will be delighted by the Kiwi Birdlife Park. While nature is definitely one of the area’s main attractions, Queenstown’s culinary scene, nightlife and assortment of eclectic boutiques will delight the most cosmopolitan of guests. A tour of the region’s wineries, famous for their Pinot Noir grapes, is a must-do activity. Perhaps one of the best things about New Zealand is how thrilling it is at every season of the year. In the winter, guests can try winter camping or skiing. In the summer, there’s watersports, or the thrill of bungee jumping. So, take the leap of faith, and book your trip to New Zealand for an unforgettable adventure.
