My grandmother and grandfather's house OKSALA is located in the southern part of Kaukosen village, 1.5 km from the Ounasjoki bridge on the west side of the river. The distance to the Reidar Särestöniemi Museum is 9 km, to Kittilä 20 km, to Levi 40 km and to Ylläs (Ylläasjärvi) 30 km. The house is a place to experience the lights and silence of Lapland, the nature and culture of Lapland in the village community of Kaukonen. My grandmother was a seamstress and my grandfather was a hunter and fisherman. I've been trying to keep a hint of it for you.

Hytta står på tunet tilhørende Røkenes Gård, et gammelt handelssted med restaurant og café. This cottage is close to very good hiking possibilities both summer and winter. Winter is the magic Aurora season. We have snowshoes which can be borrowed. Close to the local downhill skiing site. All equipment can be rented. Also on site a restaurant!

Stables

The "Stable" has been the farm's stable for Dverberg rectory for several hundred years. It has been restored, but you can still see the marks of horses that have left their teeth marks in the timber. It was here the horses were stabled when they were not out on the farm and did their business, before the tractor came to the farm. The stable consists of several floors, so one should be able to walk up stairs. The stable has 3 floors.
