This is a newly built (March 2026) private villa surrounded by nature near Lake Biwa in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. In this quiet environment, you can forget about your daily worries and enjoy a relaxing stay. You can also walk to the shores of Lake Biwa in about 5 minutes, so we highly recommend taking a stroll there. Since the property is fully private, guests can enjoy a private stay without worrying about their surroundings. Can be used by couples, married couples, or groups of up to three friends. For a comfortable stay, we use Simmons mattresses for the beds and Airweave for the sofa beds. We also have a high-speed internet connection, making it ideal for workation. Parking for 3 vehicles is available. There are also restaurants nearby that serve Omi beef, and you can enjoy teppanyaki made with Omi beef.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
