The Rimu Hut: Luxury riverside and off-grid

EllaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My partner and I had very peaceful weekend away in the rimu hut. The surroundings are beautiful, and the hut itself has everything you could need. The wood fired bath is an added bonus, and the minimeg fireplace keeps the hut warm throughout the night. There was a mix of all weathers during our stay, with more rainbows than I could count, and the farm and our time there remained lovely throughout. Thank you for providing such a special space! : )

Rotowai Hills Farm Stay

AbdullahRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This place was an absolute gem that more people need to come a check out if they a looking for a place to wind down from a busy city. Located on a mountain top, the 360 degree uninterrupted view of the horizon with layers of different scenery was surreal. With a beautifully clear night sky rid of any light pollution, we had amazing conversations sitting by the fire pit on a chilly autumn evening. The experience was further elevated when we woke up to the thick heavy fog that engulfed the valley, seeming like the clouds themselves had fallen to the ground. Not only was the property pristine in every sense, but the host was also incredibly responsive and friendly, offering us a tour of their farm where we got to meet various pet farm animals and feed the sheep. An incredible experience overall and I wish for everyone to come and experience a stay here at least once.

Lochside retreat

This was honestly the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed in – and I’ve travelled to quite a few countries! Kylie and Dan have created such a special place in Kinloch. The indoor-outdoor flow is beautifully done, making you feel connected to the natural surroundings while still completely comfortable. I loved how I had to be present – lighting the fireplace, soaking in the warm outdoor tub – it reminded me of my childhood home. There’s something really grounding and peaceful about that. We actually had plans booked for the evening and the next morning, which we had already paid for – but we ended up cancelling everything because we just wanted to stay in and soak up every moment in this beautiful space. Kylie and Dan were amazing hosts – thoughtful, warm, and accommodating. Their dog and cat came by for a few minutes, and they were just the cutest. We would’ve loved to have them around even more! This place is more than just a stay – it’s an experience. I can’t wait to come back.

Aramatai Gardens

LisaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We stayed a night in Jill’s cottage to break up a long drive, and it was the perfect spot. We stocked up on dinner ingredients at the supermarket in Te Kuiti, and a short drive later we were settling in to the cottage. It’s peaceful, private, very comfortable and so thoughtfully furnished that it was a pleasure to cook and relax in. The next morning we had an awesome breakfast with Jill’s provisions and a lovely time on the property before getting back in the car to finish the drive. We loved the giant pig, the cute calves, the beautiful gardens and the walk to the waterfall. This will be our go-to now for the best mid-way down the island stopover!
