Monthly Rentals in Philmont

Lawrence and Ilze are great hosts! They actually just live next to the house and they own a farm. We took our kid to visit their farms with lots of beautiful chickens and roosters. My son even has a chance to feed the chickens. We will definitely come back!

The house is clean, quiet, and pleasant. The house itself is quite old and so there are the obvious charming quirks that come with old homes. The main thing to note is that the stairs are very steep and narrow, so if there is anyone with mobility challenges, this may be hard to navigate. Also the ceilings are low as is common in these old homes, so anyone over 6’5” might be simply too tall for. The kitchen is clean and well stocked with cutlery and serve ware. There are two clean, large bathrooms. There are three bedrooms— important to note the bedroom with the twin bed is directly off the main bedroom. The only other quirk, which I thought was kind of charming in its own way, was the curtains, which are actually cut up pieces of cloth, not true curtains. But the cloth is nice and gauzy, so it lets beautiful woodsy morning light into the house.

Exceptionally clean and thoughtful little extras that were appreciated. The muffin mix and coffee fixings made the morning easier since our plane flight was in after dinner time and we had to visit at the fireman’s home before its visiting hours ended. We didn’t have time to shop so having something in-house for us was an unexpected treat. Thank you Ann.

Jordan and I were very aligned in our approach to health and wellness, which made this stay especially enjoyable. I appreciated that he used fragrance-free laundry detergent and stocked the space with clean, environmentally conscious cleaning products. He was also highly responsive and even directed us to a beautiful natural spring nearby where we could source fresh water. A thoughtful and gracious host—I'm only sorry I didn’t have more time to stay and get to know him and his family better!
