On the Cycleway, Hokitika

Situated on the Westcoast Wilderness Cycleway 6km from Hokitika town centre my place is perfect for all independent travellers. The unit is fully self contained with it's own entrance and great rural views. The Royal Mail Hotel (Woodstock Hotel) is only 3km away and serves great pub food as well as their own craft beer in a historic pub with a lively atmosphere and views of the river. Town is 10 minutes drive away with a selection of good dining options, takeaways, bars and a supermarket.

What a beautiful corner of the world. Nestled in a grove of trees with kiwis wandering the grounds, and rolling seas all around you. Amazing place. The dome itself is extremely high quality, with a surprising amount of space. Kitchen was spotless and well stocked, as were the toilet and shower areas. We only stayed for one night, but even in howling storms the place was lovely. We’d definitely go back.

Our stay at view with a room was stellar! Shirley is an extremely thoughtful host. She has everything you could possibly think to need with some very thoughtful touches such as freshly laid eggs that were left for us. The accommodation was impeccably clean and so well thought out. Modern bathroom, nice lighting. Beautiful views in a peaceful and serene setting. We walked at low tide to see the starfish, what a fun adventure! Shirley has a tide chart printed so you can time it just right. We loved our time at view with a room and highly highly recommend staying here. Thank you again Shirley!

The house has a great location and is close to the next larger town, which is also very cozy—Hokitika. The house is set in an idyllic spot with the perfect view of the mountains, which seem to close in, and in the morning, the mist beautifully weaves through the trees and peaks. The accommodation itself is incredibly cozy—really, really cozy. If you like, you can even light a small fire. We were warmly welcomed by Heather and Jim, who are such lovely hosts. Their entire property is simply breathtaking.

Might've been one of the best stays we had on our trip! Bummer that we only stayed for a night. Parking was great as it was raining when we arrived but it was sheltered to the entrance. A peaceful street which we could even catch the beautiful sunset in. The kitchen amenities were amazing and made us feel like we were cooking in our own kitchen. Thank you Sonya for the lovely stay!
