This a sweet 2 bedroom bungalow. Ideal for lovers, or a quiet beautiful environment for a retreat. Rooster has 1 full bath. Living room with satellite TV, wood burning stove fireplace, wood provided , fully equipped kitchen, dining table, linens and paper goods furnished. Large deck looking out on Cacapon Mountain. Hot tub off master bedroom deck in trees, feels like a tree house. Most mornings a mist rises up from river, about half mile away as crow flies, access point about a mile.
Private hot tub under stars, big deck over the valley with Cacapon Mountain in the distance
Outside Great Cacapon WV, a rural subdivision with 5-acre plots. Roads form a nice 1.25 walk. Deer, at least one bear, fireflies, birds, squirrels, raccoons. Quiet with a distant train whistle every couple of hours. Overlooking Cacapon Mountain, near river with dedicated access points. A mile or so away are two public access points. Good for kayaking, swimming and river sitting. Can introduce local kayak guides. Potomac River at Hancock is good for canoeing and kayaking or cycling on C&O Canal Towpath or Western Maryland Rail Trail. Cacapon Resort State Park is good for hiking and nature walks with rangers. Berry picking, home brewed kombucha nearby. Massage in Berkeley Springs and a modest but lively arts and music scene. Farmers market on Sundays April-December. Lots of thrift shops
  • The cabin is a wonderful getaway from DC. The driveway is tricky, but the cabin itself is great. The kitchen has all of the basics. The house is clean and comfortable (the hot tub was super clean!). Jim has lots of great tips for the area.

  • Great place, we have been there 3x and plan to go back

    Brian2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely an outstanding place to stay!! My third stay here and have loved it more everytime we stay here! Excellent secluded place to stay while still being just minutes from town. James is a fantastic host who is quick to respond to any questions or issues you may have. WiFi, tv with internet, outside grill, newly enclosed screen deck, an EXCELLENT kitchen with all the utensils, pots ,and pans you need to cook anything, and the best thing...a 6 person outdoor hottub!! We travel to Berkeley several times a year and James is always our first choice!

    Adam2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at rooster wrest. Close to Great Cacapon state park and Berkeley springs. The house was as advertised in every way. A very cool property in beautiful West Virginia!

    Dane2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • James was quick to communicate leading up to our trip. His home was cozy yet more spacious than I anticipated. The hot tub was a great plus. Very nice outdoor areas that would be ideal on warmer days. I would definitely recommend.

    Marta2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin

    Ayana2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view of the Great Cacapon mountains, lots of places to hike, and the cabin was much more spacious than the pictures suggest. James responded immediately to our questions. We had a wonderful stay!

    Timothy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is even better than the pictures show, and the location is very peaceful. There is one house nearby, but it is not at all visible due to the rooster wrest being set down a bit among the boulders and trees. You will feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, except just 15 minutes away is the most adorable little town with everything you could need. Already planning our next stay at this wonderful location!

  • Beverly's cabin was the perfect getaway for us. The dog had plenty to explore and the cabin had everything we needed for a few days of relaxing in the woods. Beverly was easily communicated with but also had everything well set up for an easy check-in/check out. I would highly recommend her cabin as a place to stay.

    Hailey2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • amazing time! Thanks for the tips, went to Tony's for fresh steak and Doris' Deli for fire wood as the house did not have any. Perfect getaway for peace and fresh air. Would definitely recommend!

  • Perfect getaway if you want to really get away from it all. We loved relaxing in the hot tub out under the stars.

    Ashleigh2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great weekend getaway here with my wife. We were looking for some seclusion away from the rush of the city, and this place definitely hit that mark. The cabin was clean, the kitchen was well outfitted, and the hot tub was great! There is a beautiful view of the river below from the front porch. Would recommend and stay again!

    Chris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at the cabin, just as described, in an awesome bit of nature. For those worried about the driveway from other comments, we made it up no problem in a stick shift honda fit!

    William2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Does not disappoint. Beverly’s place offers a quiet and peaceful get-a-way to the mountains. It’s very cozy and the amenities are great! I highly recommend.

  • We absolutely adored our stay at Beverly’s quaint cabin! The hot tub was wonderful and we used her tips listed to have a blast in town as well. The driveway was a tad intense but we made it up there in my Chrysler 200 without a ton of difficulty. We would love to stay here again in the future!

    Victoria2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing and relaxing anniversary trip. Walked the tunnel and discovered a cool brewery too! Loved the streams and really enjoyed our stay. Loved relaxing on front porch and the hot tub. Watched a few movies and just enjoyed not having anything planned that we had to do! Would rebook in future for sure!

Tucker's Retreat is a cozy cabin nestled in the West Virginia mountains, with everything you need for your getaway. The standouts: - Grill and relax on our 20 foot deck - Walk 2 mins down the hill to swim or fish in our small private lake & beach - Drive 3 mins to Cacapon State Park for hiking, golf, & horseback riding (you can literally hike from our cabin straight into the park!) - Drive 15 mins into Berkeley Springs for amazing restaurants, shopping, and dozens of festivals Enjoy!
Our large, family-friendly cabin is packed with amenities and fun for groups large and small. The cabin includes: - 3 bedrooms + a large basement sleeping area with three more beds - Chalet-style lofted ceiling with large windows that let in tons of light - A huge wrap-around deck with a propane grill - Kitchen with a dishwasher - Central heat and AC (it gets hot outside in WV in the summer!) - The fastest WiFi you can get in the WV mountains (25 Mbps) - Downstairs pool table - TV with dozens of movies, DVD player, and Roku - Outside fire pit with a stack of pre-cut firewood you can use Note: we have an indoor fireplace, but unfortunately it's not usable and is only decorative. Our cabin also has access to a small private lake (shared with just a few other cabins). It's about a 100-yard walk down the hill from our place. There's a beach and a dock -- and another floating platform in the middle of the lake -- and it's stocked with fish (we've caught bluegills, bass, and catfish). We have fishing poles and several tubes/inflatables and beach toys you can use! We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. We have a pack 'n play for sleeping, a high chair, and plenty of toys and children's books. Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are. We're nestled in the Cacapon Mountains, directly next to Cacapon Resort State Park. The park is free to enter, and has a ton of activities -- including another lake and beach, clay shooting, horseback riding, an 18-hole golf course, and miles of hiking trails. Lastly, you can get to the city of Berkeley Springs in about 15 minutes. The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint. March 2020 update: we're taking the coronavirus risk seriously, and have taken steps to ensure you're able to fully enjoy your stay: - We're using disinfecting spray on all surfaces and handles (doors, appliances) and only using disposable paper towels when cleaning - Our cleaners are washing their hands thoroughly as soon as they arrive at the cabin - If a cleaner is showing signs of sickness, they will be staying home and not allowed in the cabin We hope you enjoy your visit, and want you to stay healthy! If anything, now's probably a better time than ever to get away to the woods!
Tucker's Retreat is just south of the city of Berkeley Springs, and feels like a world away from everything. The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains on a quiet gravel road, directly adjacent to Cacapon State Park. We love our private lake and beach. We often go swimming, tubing and fishing in the lake. It's small, but it's perfect on a hot summer day. We have a few water shoes you can use, but please consider bringing your own flip flops or water shoes; the lake can sometimes get a little muddy near the beach. We also have several inflates tubes and other water/beach toys you can use. When it comes to hiking and other outdoor activities, Cacapon State Park is right next door and has a ton to offer. There's no entrance fee, and there are dozens of hiking trails over 6,000 acres. Better yet, they have a ton of other activities like an 18-hole golf course, horseback riding, clay shooting (with guns/clays you can rent), and another lake/beach. We love it. About a 10 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company. They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers. They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!
  • I planned a solo trip for myself and my dog Marshall, the lake access is what caught my attention. The cabin is lovely, set up on a hill with a beautiful view. The fenced in deck was perfect for my pup and he enjoyed chasing the moths in the evening. I enjoyed cooking and being able to sit out on the deck enjoying nature. I honestly didn’t need to contact Tony outside of the reservation because all instructions were incredibly clear and I had no issues. I plan to come back when it’s warmer so I can enjoy the lake as much as Marshall did :) great place!

    Catherine2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s place is another home, good for groups. They are very responsive. The deck is my favourite spot.

  • Some friends and I were traveling through town and needed a place to crash, so we came to Tony's. It's incredibly beautiful, quiet, spacious, and was an overall great find. I highly recommend staying here! I'm hoping to come back in the summer time to really take advantage of the nature

Rustic, 100 year old 1 rm primitive cabin in West Virginia along the Cacapon River. Beautifully restored with wood stove, loft, & screened in porch. Access to 214 acres of private mountain land & over 1/4 mile of river frontage plus 1/2 acre pond, trails, and private shooting range. This cabin is completely off grid. It has NO electricity or plumbing/running water, but does have a Porta-John serviced weekly. Renter will be cabin camping so pack accordingly; tents also welcome.
The rental is a historic cabin with the exterior recently renovated to maintain its rustic look. It is suitable for outdoorsman, couples wanting a more rugged romantic getaway in private, or for family camping. Note that some building materials (stacks of lumber and barn boards) are still on premises from the renovations. The cabin has a large screened in porch and an open floor plan on the main floor with a small loft overlooking it. Four people can comfortably camp in the cabin. Guests can throw down a sleep pad and sleeping bag on the floor or in the loft or bring a cot. There are two cots and a small hammock strung between beams inside for your use. There is also a Porta-John serviced weekly outside the cabin. The cabin is completely off grid and does not have running water/plumbing/electricity. It is primitive camping in style, but that means you will see creepy crawly things like spiders and possibly even a mouse. You need to pack like your are camping. Also, it is mandatory you bag out all waste (HUMAN or otherwise). I recommend bringing a camp toilet if you do not want to use the Porta-John. Due to the water table essentially at ground level, we take proper disposal of human waste very seriously because it will rapidly pollute the ground water. On very humid days you may be able to here a distant crackling sound caused by the high tension powerlines that cross the property. Don't worry, that is normal. The wood stover is now operational for the season. Please familiarize yourself in advance of proper use of a wood stove and specifically the damper (YouTube). If you intend to use the wood stove, please bring your own firewood (wood may or may not be there), make sure the fire is completely out before leaving the cabin, and do not split wood inside or on the porch. The gas range is not currently operational. Please do not try to use it. If you would like to make a fire outside, there is a camp fire ring in front of the porch with some benches and logs to sit on and a pile for wood in front of it. Do not cut or damage live trees for wood. Feel free to bring a grill, generator, battery operated fan (it's hot and humid in the summer), or other convenience. If you want to just tent camp, that is perfectly fine too and I recommend using the upper campsite for that since it offers an excellent view and privacy.
You are in the mountains of West Virginia. People are friendly and respectful and enjoy their privacy and expect the same courtesy. Although very private, you will occasionally see a neighbor passing the cabin en route to their property at the far end of the access road. If you head to the back 164 acres, you will pass through a small portion of private property owned by a neighbor. You have permission to use the access road, but be respectful of their property and camp site/cabin.
  • Jonathan is a really nice guy

    Sean2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I love this rustic cabin. It’s fun to be off grid for a couple days. This is such a peaceful place. Weather hiking or just being on the river, it’s just a great escape. Thanks ! Will return soon.

    Michael2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! It was COLD but our second night we almost got sweat out of the cabin by the stove! If you're arriving late like we did (11pm almost) I would take care to really pay attention to the written directions that Jonathan provides. It gets much harder to see signs and to see the river crossing when it's the middle of the night, but the directions were true and led us directly to the cabin without any second thought. We brought our own firewood but the extra wood split by the cabin was a thoughtful addition and we appreciated it being there if we had needed it. We were also appreciative of previous guests who had left spare supplies behind. You shouldn't have a shortage of necessities thanks to the community leaving their extras. All in all, it was a beautiful bit of land and we cannot wait to visit again when it gets warmer. The first night was rough with the cabin not being warm inside beforehand, and waiting on the stove to do its job, but our next day and following evening were great and a very memorable experience.

From the top of Sidling Hill Mountain in Morgan County, West Virginia, gaze down 1200 feet at the Potomac River and floating clouds as you enjoy this charming secluded log cabin. Just minutes away from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and close to Washington DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. A perfect get-a-way for a romantic week-end, for nature lovers, or for a solo retreat. The back deck faces west so you can enjoy fantastic sunsets as well as the wildlife, mountains, valley, and Potomac River.
We are happy to work with you if you wish to celebrate your special occasion with chocolates, flowers, cheese, or special wine.
  • WOW! If you are on the fence about staying at A Walk in the Clouds - do it! You will not regret it. The view from the deck alone is worth it. Not to mention the home is clean, quaint, and exactly what one needs to get away from it all. The home is complete with Wi-Fi, TV, all the kitchen supplies you could need, a comfortable bed, grill... the list goes on. I took this opportunity to propose to my girlfriend and it could not have been more beautiful. Waking up and seeing the low-hanging clouds and fog coming off the river was literally perfect. Again, I repeat, do not waste anymore time looking because you've already found the place of your dreams!

  • We had a wonderful experience using AirBnb for the first time. Keith was a great, detailed host and the cabin was beyond expectations. Very clean, updated and cozy! They left us sweet treats and a bottle of wine to celebrate our Anniversary, that was a nice surprise! The views were so pretty, if you want “up high on the mountain” then this is it! We will definitely be back!

    Jamie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Keith's cabin in Great Cacapon was such a treat. A nice scenic drive up a mountain that leads to Keith's cabin overlooking the Potomac. The cabin was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Some great restaurants with local charm in Berkley Springs (Tari's) and Hancock (Buddylou's). Would love to visit this cabin again!

  • This was my second stay, and I look forward to everything about the place. It was perfect. I especially appreciated waking up too quiet in the morning, soaking in hot tub while I scanned the broad blue sky, and slowing down.

    Ellen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect if you're looking for a quick weekend getaway! The location was only 10-20 mins from downtown and hiking spots. The house was very clean and cozy and the hot tub was great after a long day of hiking. Would definitely recommend!

  • A very clean, well insulated, warm and inviting guest house. All linens and towels supplied. Well equipped home in a quiet country setting. Rapid response from host when questions asked. Definitely recommend Pond Hill Guesthouse.

    Darlene2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Myself, my husband, our married couple friends, and our two 5 month old infants had an AMAZING stay at Pond Hill. The location is great. It's so close to Berkeley Springs and other nature points of interest. This place is SUPER clean and very cozy. The hot tub was a serious plus. I would definitely stay here again if I were ever back in the area. One note - If you are arriving at night the "Pond Hill" sign is rather small, so just know that if you reach the driveway with the mailbox with the address, you have actually gone one driveway too far.

Whether you want a romantic getaway, a family break or a quiet place to write, Long Time Gone Cottage is the perfect spot. Scenic acres. Mountains. River. Eagles. Fire in fireplace. Stars in the sky. Tranquil, peaceful, and private. What else do you need? NOTE: We are deep-cleaning our cabins between guests.
Fully renovated cabin with vintage features. It looks old but everything has been salvaged from somewhere else. Clawfoot tub. Huge screened-in porch. Full kitchen. Two bedrooms in main house with queen beds. Futon in living room. Bunkhouse (you'll need a space heater in winter) has a double bed, double futon and bunk with queen mattress. Three primary beds have pillows and duvets. Bedding needed for rest. PLEASE NOTE: You MUST bring sheets and towels. We don't have washer and dryer facilities and cannot provide linens beyond bedspreads and pillows. Amazing views. A separate bunkhouse where you can stash the kids. Outdoor shower in summer. Phone service and Wifi. Please note there is no TV and no a/c. We are in the mountains where the nights are typically chilly well into June. During the day, breezes come straight off the river and fans will keep you cool on even the hottest days of summer. We like 5-star hotels too, but this isn't one! :-) The cabin is self-catering. We are far away from any major city and unfortunately there is no local trash pick-up. If cleaning up after yourself isn't your cup of tea this isn't the spot for you. We operate on the honor system (although our caretaker drops in after each guest to make sure things are okay) so please leave it as you would hope to find it! Please note that well-behaved pets are welcomed, but must be kept under your control at all times and are not allowed on furniture. The use of firearms, hunting and fireworks are strictly prohibited. PLEASE PLAN TO BRING YOUR BEDDING WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE!
Gated community but doesn't feel like it. Our property is right on the river first surveyed by George Washington. In summer, we have our own beach. Helpful neighbors who aren't around much. Historic sites close by including Paw Paw Tunnel. 40 minutes from ski resorts and hot springs. This is wild and wonderful West Virginia at its finest. The perfect spot to get away from it all. Spend your day floating lazily down the river and your night counting the stars.
  • The Floating E is a beautiful little cabin tucked away in the wilderness. The river views in the morning with steam rising off the Potomac are breathtaking. As is the sunrise shining off the mountain! I am looking forward to booking again as the weather warms up and getting more use out of the screened in porch and campfire area!

  • Leslie's cabin is a neat, quirky little place that offered a great getaway in a pretty nature-full setting. Be prepared to take care of some bugs because it's deep in the woods, but you'll enjoy your stay here!

    Bradley2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little gem tucked up in the hills of Paw Paw!! Very cozy, everything was documented well and things were just as Leslie described. The walk to the river was nice, and we enjoyed a fire in the fire pit afterward. I grilled out on the deck and had two cozy nights by the fire. Berkely Springs is nearby and such a quaint little town, I did a rainy afternoon antiquing trip. Definitely will be keeping this property on the list. Don't miss this one!!!

    Janet2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend stay here! Even cold rainy weather couldn't dampen the experience: we explored the area and then warmed up by the fireplace. The place has everything you could need and more - we especially enjoyed the game cabinet with our 6-year-old daughter. It was so welcoming and full of thoughtful touches - we've vowed to return so we can experience it in warmer weather. Highly recommended.

    Rachel2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you love seclusion and getting away from the hustle and bustle, this is the pace for you! This is our second time here and we were celebrating our anniversary. We tried to make it a thing and come every year but they were booked this time last year. Making a trip into Berkeley springs is always great if you want get out and We had fun hiking around the Paw Paw tunnel and building fires in the fire place every day—highly recommended!!

  • Can’t stress how great Jim and how cabin are! To start off, Jim is very communicative and replied to all of my messages in just a few minutes. He makes the cabin very very cozy! I was there with 3 other adults (4 of us total) and it was the perfect size, with one queen sized bet upstairs, a twin bed and a full bed on the main/downstairs floor (3 bedrooms total). It was just enough space that we weren’t all crammed, but still cozy enough that we all felt together. The location of the cabin is amazing as well, it’s right off of the main street and there’s tons of restaurants and shops in walking distance. The back porch and hot tub have a tiny bit of an overlook of the town. It is in just the right location so that it feels as if you are out in the mountains, but you still get that small town feel. My only “complaint” would be that the drive way is a steep gravel hill, which is difficult to park on. There is public parking at the bottom of the short hill which is very convenient! Overall, my family and I had a GREAT time at Jim’s cabin, 10/10 stay!!

    Danielle2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little place for visiting Berkeley Springs. It had everything we needed for a girls getaway. Super convenient, easy walking distance to all of the shops and spas. The kitchen, hot tub and Netflix was just right for an evening in. The driveway is very steep but once we parked it was an easy walk to "town"

    Jenine2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place was perfect for a weekend getaway with my former college roommates. The house was clean, cozy and newly renovated - perfect for three adults. The location could not have been better. We walked everywhere! I'd definitely recommend!

  • What a wonderfully cute, cozy and cool cottage! The hot tub was wonderful and the cottage is close to everything yet private! We stayed for 4 nights while our kids were on a 4 night field trip. So romantic - such a great place to fall in love all over again! And we can’t wait to bring our kids back too! Thank you Jim for all of your hospitality and for the birthday wine! We absolutely love your place! It’s my new favorite Airbnb!

  • My wife and I love this place! We've gone two years in a row now and it is absolutely charming. I can't say enough things about this cottage and the area and we will be coming back!

  • Pictures of this house do not do it justice. Perfect location, and so relaxing.

    Angela2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place although we only stayed for about 12 hours. We had a medical emergency the first night and had to leave early. Jason offered to work something out on a future trip. Thanks.

  • This place is an amazing place to get away. Me and my friends have come here 3 times now, and the stays have been nothing but pleasant. If you get a chance try to book it for at least 3 days, because the morning you leave you wish you could stay longer. The owners are very accommodating and responsive! The house is very special and I don’t want to give away to much about this place, it has a lot of fun surprises! :)

    Bijan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The home is sparkly clean and well decorated. The warmness of the decor in every room makes it feel like it was my own home. We enjoyed the hot tub and sitting on the deck watching the river pass by. We left behind some fishing gear and requested that Jason mail it back. He didn't hesitate to do it and got it out immediately. He also was very patient with me when I called to ask him questions. We missed seeing any wildlife in the area (bears, deer, beaver) but hope to go back soon to see some of what we missed.

    Sandy2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's place was so relaxing, the views of the river were great, just what was needed for a weekend getaway.

    Andrea2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This house was the perfect last minute getaway, beautiful view of the river from most of the windows. The master bedroom was a great room to wake up in each morning, though there aren't shades on the windows so if you need darkness, bring an eye mask! The master bath and hot tub were also very relaxing for the stay.

The neighborhood is super quiet and such a wonderful place to get away to. The house is located right in front of the creek that you can fish, kayak, let your dog swim and just enjoy the sound. The house is nice and cozy, im here if you need anything.
Located near lots of main attractions in Berkeley Springs, wifi at the home, smart tvs around the house to watch movies. I want you to feel relaxed during your stay, any recommendations im here to help.
The creek in front of the house is beautiful, the house is sitting on 3 acres so feel free to run through the woods and the creek.
  • Michael’s cabin is a hidden gem. There are so many fun things to do, so you will never experience a dull moment when you arrive. If you are looking for a place to relax and do nothing, however, this place is also suitable for what you want. That is the beauty of this location. My friends and I will definitely return in the future. Thank you!

  • Love this place!!! I cannot wait to book it again. We got to enjoy a day where the weather was beautiful and not too cold, we went exploring in the woods and even went down to the water that is right in the back yard. Very pretty. We also go to experience a day of snow where we sat in the hot tub and watched the snow fall. It was very relaxing and made this get away trip 100% better. Michael responded very quickly. The place has a lot of things that makes it feel like a home away from home. By far the best cabin we have stayed at yet! Will definitely be booking another stay!

Watch daily coal, container, auto-racks, and mixed freight trains climb the mountain with assistance from helpers at the rear. Also ascending trains require the assistance of dynamic breaking from helper engines on the rear, and sometimes in the middle, before being cut off near Cumberland to make the trip up the mountain again. Close by is The Everett Railroad with many excursion rides and specials. Walk the former railroad bed of the Huntingdon and Broad Top Railroad on the new trail developed in northeastern Bedford County. Although the East Broad Top does not run anymore, the Friends of the East Broad Top has events at Rockhill Furnace. Less than a three hour drive from the Josie Ray will get you to railroad rides that include: Cass Scenic Railroad, New Tygart Flyer, Cheat Mountain Salamander, Durbin Rocket, Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad, and the Strasburg Rail Road.
This is a tiny town in Southwest PA. The favorite activities of this area are fishing, hunting, biking, and kayaking. There are two local eateries, a market, post office, library and a dollar store within easy walking distance.
  • You can’t get any better with this house! Angela is extremely organized and makes sure everything has been thought of. Our girls loved watching the trains from the dining room window. We really enjoyed our experience here.

    Brian2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was as clean and nicely decorated as said to be. We enjoyed our overnight stay and will definitely be coming back.

    Jillian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cleanest, most perfect Airbnb I have ever stayed in. So clean you could eat off the floors, and I couldn’t be anymore happier, spend the money, take a break from reality and stay at this tiny house in the middle of nowhere! Angela is a great host, and honestly I cannot wait to stay again!

    Justin2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. This lovely home certainly passes the old fashioned while glove test as it is spotless. We found the home with beautiful Christmas lights decorating the front side and rear of the house so it welcomed us before we ever got inside. The decorations carried on into the inside where again beautiful decorations. My four year old great-nephew wanted to go home after we rode the Polar Express but once he got inside the Josie Ray he said "I want to live here forever." The train running in the rear of the house fascinated him and ever one was heading to the North Pole. Beds and bedding top of the line. Towels top of the line and the warm cozy blankets provided were heavenly after a long cold train riding day. One thing that I really loved was the handy-cap bathroom with the walk in shower sporting a fold down seat and grip bars. I often travel with my 84 year old Mother and this is something that makes life easier as we get older and much appreciated for that easy and peace of mind. On the pack porch my niece and I stood outside and looked at the most amazing beautiful sky and listened to the nearby creek as it sang its way along. So very relaxing. We plan to return for a longer stay this spring and bring my Mom who will love the manicured back yard. The story of the house was sweetly shared by Angela and it brought rears to my eyes but great joy to my heart. I won't tell you what it is but I do challenge you to go and find out the story yourself. This warm house turns into an warm home as soon as you open the door.

  • We are so enjoy this place very very enjoy and really appreciate !

    Isabella2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed this property ... for me personally (my wife and I stayed here), there was a "railroad element". The property adjoins a BUSY CSX right of way with a spectacular double track bridge. But besides that, the property is well maintained, kept immaculately clean, has all the appointments you would expect from a motel (and more) and the hosts are great people.

    Bill2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Angela’s place is beautifully renovated and decorated nicely! My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much! I would say the only inconvenience was that we were limited to having drinks and food in the dining room area only. When it’s late at night, my husband and I enjoy having a cup of tea or wine in bed while we’re relaxing and watching a show, but we wanted to respect the rules of the house so we sat in the dining room, drank, and then went to bed. It was just a bit weird for us, but I completely understand wanting to take extra precautions to ensure the house stays immaculate! Lastly, my husband was a bit frustrated with the sounds of the train, but it didn’t really bother much! I guess it’s not for everyone! Overall, the home is beautiful and Angela was very helpful!

  • Basic accommodations , perfect when you are biking the C&O. Host Daniel is a volunteer on the canal and can answer any questions. He is a wealth of knowledge. Breakfast was super.

    John And William2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are bicycling the C&O, you should stay with Daniel. His local tips and his directions saved us 16 miles and put us on 30 miles of good paving that parallels the C&O. He also cooks breakfast individually (for each guest). I was amazed at his hospitality. My friend (Shawn) and I have never had a more informative host. You will not be dieappointed. Thank you, Dan.

    Bob2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I can't impress enough upon C&O travelers Dan's hospitality and generosity. From meeting us in the cool darkness of Paw Paw tunnel, to the cozy home-like accommodations, to the recommendations of "dining options" in Paw Paw (limited, btw) and wrapping up with a great home-cooked breakfast and conversation and inspiring words. You will experience true spirit of a genuinely positive human spirit serving others. It is one of the memorable highlights of our C&O Canal Towpath passage.

    Richard2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dan's place was just as expected. Dan was a super host, kind and wise and willing to help those in need. Really was a boost to meet someone so open and willing to help his fellow humans along the trail!

**Book three nights or more and receive a free bottle of wine when you arrive** Come stay at our secluded mountaintop retreat overlooking a three-state mountain view. Enjoy the warmth of the wood stove with wine or a hot cup of cocoa or roast marshmallows in the outdoor fire pit. This mountain cabin is great for groups, families, or couples who want to relax in the mountains (2hrs from DC/Balt and 2.5hrs from Pittsburgh). Close to Berkeley Springs, natural hot springs, Cacapon State Park.
Welcome to Hawks View! Our secluded two bed, two bath cabin is at the top of Rouse Mountain featuring mountain views of West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. This secluded cabin sits on 14 wooded acres. It is very possible you won't see anyone during your stay unless you go into town. You'll be surrounded by wildlife with frequent sightings of deer, woodpeckers, humming birds, hawks, and many more. Please be aware that during the months of late December -March you will need a 4WD/AWD vehicle. While the roads are well kept, a 4WD/AWD vehicle will ensure you have no issues getting up the mountain in snowy conditions. When booking during this time period, please include that you have a 4WD/AWD vehicle in your request. 1 bedroom is located on the main floor and the second bedroom is located on the lofted second floor. Both bedrooms are outfitted with blackout shades so you can fully refresh during your stay. We encourage guests to disconnect from technology while visiting and spend quality time together but the living room is set up with a DVD player, Chromecast, and a selection of movies. Wood is provided for the wood stove which is used as the main source of heat from October - March. This is included in the nightly rate.
The neighborhood is pretty secluded though when you ocassionally run into neighbors, they are warm and friendly. Guests looking to get away from other people and technology to enjoy the mountain air will find this a perfect retreat.
  • Hawks View lived up to all of our expectations. The wood stove was perfect, there was plenty of firewood and it quickly warmed up the entire cabin. Once we curled up on those comfy couches looking out at that incredible view, we didn’t want to leave. The kitchen was well equipped...much better than other airbnbs in our experience. The towels were plush. The road up is steep and rough as described but for us that was part of the fun. We had a dusting of snow both days. We did head out and hiked through Paw Paw tunnel followed by lunch at Amanda’s Place (nothing fancy) which we recommend as an excursion. We also had dinner one night in Berkeley Springs. We wish we had used the outdoor fire pit but that’s something to keep in mind for another visit because we will definitely be back.

    Shannan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I spent hours looking for a “cabin in the mountains with a view.” Hawk view was the perfect choice. The couches were comfy, the wood stove was easy to use and the view was amazing! The house was equipped with everything we needed and towels, sheets, shampoo/conditioner and coffee was supplied. There is WiFi which worked well for being on top of a mountain. Plenty of DVD’s and family games plus books and binoculars. The house was perfect for our long weekend getaway. I would definitely go back!

    Robyn2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The view from this cabin is great. Awesome location on top of a mountain. The cabin itself is clean and modern. We had a great stay.

    Elliott2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our long weekend at Danielle's place. It was perfect for my family and we could not have wished for a better place. The view is amazing and the house has everything one needs - including great equipment for children and a kitchen with everything one needs to cook and bake. The beds were great, we slept better than at home. We would highly recommend the place and are looking forward to coming back soon.

    Lena2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway spot!

    Casey2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very well maintained and is squeeky clean when you arrive. It has an actual address, so Google Maps has no issues finding it. The road is gorgeous, you go by small towns, ride along the river, and cross the woods and other cabins. There is no doubt in my mind that this cabin has the best view in the vecinity, it is gorgeous. The cabin has everything you need: condiments, spices, coffee (regular and decaf), silverware, flashlight, firewood, lighter, binoculars, first aid kit, DVD movies, radio, books, games, small grill, hammock, table w/chairs inside and outside the cabin, frdge, stove, oven, coffee maker, toaster, etc., etc., etc. Special note on the towels, they feel like angel wings, so fluffy and soft. Also the pillows, you get a hard and a soft one, just how I like it, heavenly. There is a firepit outside of the cabin, bring your marshmellows, grahams and Hershey's. Make sure you extinguish that fire well when done. I was very surprised with the quality of the restaurants in Berkeley Springs (20-30 min drive). The food at Tari's was really good. We also enjoyed the Paw Paw tunnel... take a flashlight or the light on a well charged cell phone will do. The springs were also nice, bring you.swinsuit, as there are some SPAs and pools that you may want to enjoy. All in all it was a wonderfull experience, we will be back on spring or summer to emjoy a different scenery. 100% recomended!

    Sara2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We went for a girls weekend, celebrating a birthday and had the best time. We ended up getting there super late at night, which made that road up the mountain and interesting ride! But, during the day it's obvious it's a well maintained road. The cabin is even better than we pictured, the views from everywhere are amazing! Almost everything you could need is provided, from a fully equipped kitchen to the super soft towels. After some time at the Berkeley Springs baths we ate at Morgan's on Main, thanks to Danielle's suggestion, and we're so happy she did! We need more time there, we plan on coming back when it's not so cold out so we can enjoy more of the outdoors....especially the deck and fire pit!

Had all the basic necessities and the bed was very comfortable. Had a wide selection of reading material and spacious kitchen. Would definitely come back!

  • This cabin was the most perfect escape! We unplugged entirely leaving reality behind and headed up to the little starry cabin with the dog. The pup loved running around the yard and all the hikes. The cabin was perfectly cozy and had just what we needed, the bare essentials. We enjoyed cooking over bonfires, the beautiful stars, hikes, and the little town of Berkeley springs.

Free WI-FI now available. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and families (with kids). The Cottage is a quaint, Cape Cod style house built in 1950. It sits high on a hill in the heart of Maryland's Appalachian Mountains in Allegany County. It is surrounded by views of Wills Mountain and Shrivers Ridge. The Cottage sits amongst a 652 acre family managed forest. Visitors have spotted deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, black bear and a multitude of song birds.
Vistors have listened to coyotes, whippoorwill and woodcock while resting on the screened-in back porch. The house is filled with lovely family heirlooms. Custom artwork by the owner of Mockingbird Studio is displayed throughout the place and available for purchase by talking to the owners of the cottage.
It is a quiet, county, residential neighborhood with views of the mountains, fields and forest.
  • Peaceful quiet and felt like home

  • Dan and Angela were really sweet people and had a really nice home. 10/10 recommend this place!

    Oriana2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is our favorite place to stay when we visit Cumberland. The location is perfect; quiet, lovely views, easy access to Cumberland proper. Dan and Angela practice amazing hospitality. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee, tea, etc. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. Our children loved the little toys scattered around for them to find: a bear on the bed, etch a sketch on a table, coloring books in the upstairs bedroom. We will be back.

    Rachel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely getaway, charmingly appointed with amenities for all needs. Great communication with hosts. Felt remote (in a good way) but only about a 12 min ride into historic Cumberland. Would definitely recommend.

Our four-bedroom, four bath place is close to great views. Spacious and well equipped, the house is a perfect retreat for your entire family (including the pets!). Our cozy cabin has high ceilings, great views and is centrally located to a number of regional attractions. Berkeley Springs is a ten minute drive in one direction, and Cacapon State Park is a short drive in the other direction.
The large, A-frame house is set on a quiet mountainside just 10 minutes from Berkeley Springs. Inside, the main floor is dominated by windows looking out onto the mountainside, and while a television is offered in the living room, the real star is the view. There is a bathroom and 2-bed bedroom on the main floor, just beyond the kitchen. The top floor contains two bedrooms and bathrooms, offering quiet and seclusion. One bedroom has a private balcony. The basement contains another bedroom with two beds, a sitting area with TV, and an activity room with a bar, couch and multiple places to sit.
The large, A-frame house sits in the Coolfont Mountainside community, just a few minutes from downtown Berkeley Springs. The community is a small group of cabins in quiet, secluded area. The community offers a pool, hottub and a number of hiking trails walking distance from the house.
  • The house was great. For sure we will repeat.

    Alonso2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great space. Spacious bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, great entertaining space with plenty of seating & board games. Location was great as well. Would rent again.

  • Nice view and great spot we really enjoyed staying there

    Hesam2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jefferson is such a responsive and welcoming host! Very communicative and gave us wonderful tips of places to go to eat at and visit in the area. The house is in a beautiful location to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet. We especially loved that it was dog-friendly - that took the stress away from trying to plan our family vacation. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to escape from the day to day and enjoy the mountains and slower pace of life.

    Katie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here. The terrace was just amazingly peaceful and we spent a lot of time out there. Amenities were adequate and rooms were very comfortable. Excellent place for a big group to chill out together!

    Thomas2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect mountain house for a family to reconnect. Everything was as described and we had everything at hand that we needed for a great getaway. All questions/concerns were answered quickly.

    Jennifer2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Warm hospitality, prompt communications, thoughtful accommodations. The directions Jefferson sent and the website he made for the listing both were incredibly helpful. The house is great, too: quiet in the woods but not completely isolated. Everything in the house was intuitive for use. Would definitely come back!

Nice quiet cabin in the woods just 5 min. from downtown Berkeley Springs WV. One bedroom with 2 twin beds, a fold out queen futon in the living room, full bath, kitchen with microwave, 'great area' with dining table, porch with café table and chairs, fire pit with grill, and hammock. Mr. Coffee, and drip coffee makers, with ground and bean coffees (grinder too), fridge, gas stove top, cable TV, WiFi. Hiking trails from your doorstep.
This is a guest house on a 2.25 acre wooded lot. The water that runs out of the tap here is the same water that is bottled and sold from the famous Berkeley Springs. You'll be showering in and drinking the healing water people pay for at stores and spas! The main residence is about 70 ft. away. There is a hiking trail that goes down to Sir John's Run, a small stream that flows north to join the Potomac. Guests are welcome to use the hammock by the turtle fountain or practice-putt on the frisbee golf hole. There is a small table and two chairs out on the porch for morning coffee or happy hour, and a fire pit/grill and two camp chairs for more outdoor fun. The cabin is surrounded by trees, and is very quiet, but only 3-5 minutes from downtown.
The front porch is across from my only visible neighbor, about 200 ft away. It's a nice woody area of a development that has very few houses at this point. There is a lot of wildlife, you'll probably see deer, rabbits, and lots of birds. Despite the woodsy feeling, downtown Berkeley Springs is just 5 minutes away.
  • Unreal weekend. This cabin is located about 5 min from town for convenience, but far enough away that you can hear a pin drop when you're outside. Jeff is incredible and I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet weekend trip.

    Morgan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's very clean!!! Plenty of towels in the bathroom, books, games and the fireplace. It's like staying in a tree house and the cabin inside and out is lovely. There was a bad storm Jeff came over quickly with candles, the lights never went out but the candles and flashlight made us feel secure. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

    Paul2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin and town! I enjoyed my stay a lot!

    Rafaela2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Really quiet and remote. Definitely a nice get away. One disclosure, the double or queen sized bed is a futon and therefore very uncomfortable. We knew this and brought an airmattress. But, the two twins that are kids slept on where very comfortable.

    Bryce2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really convenient to Berkley Springs and all the attractions / restaurants, but still felt like you were in the woods. I might bring an air mattress next time for a little extra sleeping comfort on the futon. Scruffy, the welcoming committee dog is so cute. Was great for our dog because there is a nice walking area and trail very close by.

    Susie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff is a very thoughtful host, he provided all the essentials and more for a wonderful retreat.

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I love this cozy cabin in the woods! Will be back :) It's only a couple minute drive from town. However we were so comfortable there that we only left to go hiking at Cacapon State Park and then to get massages in town. It was nice to cook healthy meals at home, and there is a bathtub to soak in the famous healthy Berkeley springs water.

    Colin2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay 5 minutes from downtown Berkeley Springs. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need. Jeff (and Scruffy) were great hosts who provided excellent recommendations and were very responsive. Excellent weekend getaway!

  • This cabin was a great place to stay. I visit the Bedford Springs resort frequently and this was a great alternative to staying at the hotel. It had everything I needed in the cabin. I am looking forward to staying here again. Tonya was a great hostess. She quickly answered all of my questions about my stay.

Our little cottage is secluded and amazingly quiet. Overlooking our pond and surrounded by woods, it is beautiful year round. Soak and rejuvenate in our Hot Tub, Kayak and swim in the pond, or light up the fire pit. A separate bedroom and a kitchen/common room fully equipped. Solar powered. Huge deck, miles of trails, tree house, and many unique features!
You get our 450 sq ft. cottage, and huge 10' deck, all to your self. There is a separate bedroom, and bathroom, along with the main room. With a full kitchen (stove, oven, grill, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher) it is easy to bring your own food and prepare it here. We have a full compliment of dishes, silverware, and utensils, along with lots of condiments. What ever you would find in your own kitchen. The bedroom has a queen sized bed, the loft has two singles, and the bench in the main room becomes a bed when the bolster is removed. In addition we have a blow up queen, and two blow up singles. We can actually sleep 9 but that would be very crowded. 4 is comfortable, 6 is tight. We have Wifi, including Netflix. Please be aware that this is a cabin in the woods. If you love nature, this is your place.
Our neighborhood is unique in that it doesn't exist. It is just you, the pond and the woods. We have neighbors, but you can't see or hear them. This is a get away place.
  • Our stay was fantastic! Our hosts were incredibly accommodating and helpful. We had a very relaxing couple of days away. We will most definitely be back again!

    Allie2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts were very accommodating and communicative. They obviously take great pride in their property. We were there for only a short weekend, but we had a great time. The hot tub was fun in the winter weather and the blueberry muffins left for us were delicious.

    Jaime2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place we enjoy the fresh eggs and wonderful atmosphere . Thank you so much everything was perfect.

    Evelin2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice laid back visit, and the cabin was relaxing. Definitely cool with all the eco friendly and self sustaining touches. Very unique toilet. 😉 Watching the stars from the hot tub at night was fantastic. This was a fun getaway with friendly hosts, nice trails to walk, and a good escape from the outside world. We cooked in the cabin for most meals so that we didn’t have to leave much...and our pup enjoyed the stay too!

    Victoria2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Murray and his family were excellent hosts and provide everything their guests could want and need when staying away from home. They had an appetizer when we got there, pastries, eggs fresh from their property, coffee, and other breakfast foods. They have a full kitchen which is nice because the cottage is pretty secluded. Definitely bring food and snacks because grocery stores/restaurants aren’t super close. That was perfectly ok with us because being secluded was what we were looking for. They do have some modern touches such as an indoor/outdoor stereo system, DVD player and WiFi. We appreciated that :) It was the perfect getaway for myself, my boyfriend and our two pups. It was very relaxing with a homey feel. My pups enjoyed watching the HUGE koi fish in the lake, roaming around the property and taking hikes. We loved the huge fire pit, the outdoor space, and the awesome stargazing. They truly have an adorable special little cottage and I cannot wait for our next stay!

    Shelby2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic option for relaxing in the woods with all the amenities of staying home! The cabin AC was perfect and kept the whole place cool during the hot summer days. The pond is stocked with beautiful Koi fish that are just a pleasure to watch swim around. This place is a must visit if you have the chance. Unfortunately, we didnt take up the hosts on any bike tours, but we would definitely have if there was more time. I would highly recommended to any couples looking for some relaxation or to a smaller family looking for some fun outdoor time. You will not be disappointed!

    Matthew2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time! We brought our two dogs, and the lab had the time of his life swimming in the pond. The guests before us ended up breaking the hot tub, which was disappointing, but Murray and his nephew Mason fixed it as soon the new part came in, and we got to enjoy it our last night. We would definitely stay here again!
