We were made to feel very welcome, even able to cook. The novelty of the stargazer didn't wear off although we were very unlucky with the weather. This place is best visited with a car which we didn't have but we still got on fine for those few days. Thanks and we hope to be back!

The listing was very accurate, we were made to feel really welcome and looked after throughout our stay. We were shown round the house and the facilities that we could use during our stay. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any stars because of the weather but we still thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience! A wonderful experience for us, we were offered the use of torches and extra blankets which would have been useful if we did not have our own (torches). We walked pub one evening and ate a takeaway in the conservatory another evening.

We spent a lovely couple of nights in Tess and and Richard's Star Gazer. The view of the stars was absolutely phenomenal, as was their hospitality. Breakfast with homemade bread was left out for us every morning and Tess and Richard were very welcoming and happy to give us advice on the area - even lending us their maps. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to camping and we're looking forward to going back some time soon.

Tess and Richard were kind, warm, and welcoming. They have a wonderfully eclectic home and beautiful gardens. I had some difficulty finding the location since my sat nav (GPS) did not recognize the address and I am not familiar with the area. But Tess has clear instructions in the description and you should have no trouble if you familiarize yourself with a map beforehand.

Tess is a warmhearted and welcoming host. The stargazer was fun to sleep in. The night was cloudy but I saw dozens of shooting stars, as if behind a fine gauze. Breakfast was fantastic, home made bread and honey.

Tess gave us a wonderful welcome, waiting for us outside making it easy to find. Tess is a very easy going host who made us feel very welcomed. The Stargazer is perfectly located, far from any light pollution, giving a wonderful view of the night sky.

Richard was an extremely attentive host, truly welcoming and friendly. From the lovely breakfast left out for us in the conservatory in the morning, to the advice on dinner venues, he made sure that we had everything we needed to ensure a memorable stay in the Stargazer, which he built himself many years ago. The Stargazer is such an amazing and unique place to stay. Never before have we spent a night under such beautiful conditions. It was like camping, but with an unparalleled view of the night sky. Tucked away in a remote area, a car was necessary to get there, but the reward of travelling there was a cosy night under the moon and stars. We were lucky enough to have a clear sky that night! We thought it might have been uncomfortably cold to spend a night in the Stargazer during this time of the year but the extra bedding that our hosts provided us were more than sufficient for a good night's sleep. Waking up to sunshine and birdsong completed the most memorable holiday night we've ever had. Richard and Tess' Stargazer is truly the place to be for anyone who is looking for the ultimate romantic getaway from the city.

We spent 2 nights in the Stargazer, which proved a very different and lovely experience - all the benefits of camping, the closeness to nature, the birdsong etc, with the unusual advantage of being able to see the sky, the trees, the moon 'n stars (not to mention the comfy mattresses, and a very good breakfast of cereals and Richard's very tasty homemade bread, waiting for us in the conservatory in the mornings! A lovely, rural area to explore - we greatly enjoyed our cycle ride to Tiverton, along the old Grand Western canal, and walking round the local village. Tess and Richard were very friendly and helpful hosts - all in all, great value and highly recommended.

This is an idyllic place, a perfect spot to get away from it all. It's so peaceful and quiet. Sam and Ali are very friendly and accommodating (the dogs are very friendly too). The barn is very clean with everything you need in the kitchen. A great base for a holiday.

We found it slightly tricky to find in the dark, one needs to read the notes on how to find the location. But Ali drove out to find the 'lost' members of our party having suggested we use her landline to locate them. Excellent service and just a great 'no frills' place! Highly recommended.

Great accommodation with good facilities. Really well equipped kitchen and good clean bathroom. Hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had a good trip.

The perfect place to relax and forget about all your problems

Our friendly and helpful host had got the place into tip-top condition when we arrived, including lighting the fire for us. This is a large and comfortable space in an amazingly quiet and beautiful location. I would advise caution if you need phone signal, private bedrooms, easy proximity to shops etc - but if you want a quiet getaway in very reasonably priced dorm accommodation then this is absolutely perfect. Lots of good walks and a couple of pubs are (long) walking distance away. Great kitchen and bathroom: slightly limited fridge capacity if all 14 beds are filled and hot water only flows to one shower at a time (in the two spotless loo/bathrooms). My friends and I were big fans of the whole experience.

Ali made us feel very welcome and even helped us with some laundry which was so kind. She couldn't have been better with communicating and organising and was so accommodating of our group. The accommodation itself was perfectly basic- all the space and equipment that e needed. We loved that it didn't have a TV or phone signal. It remoteness and peacefulness is its charm. The weather was great and we enjoyed a bbq but the local pubs and the area generally are relaxing and welcoming. We couldn't recommend the Barns enough if you're looking for a rural rustic escape. We really enjoyed staying in Juniper the pod, it had lovely surroundings of the garden and Victoria and Daniel made us feel very welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Juniper pod. Daniel and Victoria (and Linda) were excellent hosts - giving a tour on arrival of their beautiful garden, offering advice of some local walks, and even offering to give us a lift to and from the pub! We decided to make use of the hot tub and fire pit, which are both well worth it. The pod was beautifully presented, and contained everything you would need for a great overnight stay. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation and hope to return again one day!

Daniel and Victoria's Cosy Pod was definitely the highlight of our weekend trip to Cornwall. We were amazed by how much effort they have put into making this truly cosy and very beautiful. Not only it is extremely comfortable, it is also very relaxing. The house was easy to find and our hosts stayed up for us even if our arrival was delayed due to traffic! I would definitely recommend it to anyone spending the weekend in Cornwall or even as an entire weekend getaway, as there is a jacuzzi and a spa!!

Daniel and Victoria were brilliant. Our stay in the 'Cosy Pod' was so much fun. I took the opportunity to propose to my girlfriend. Victoria was really helpful in guiding my preparation and planning - going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect (and nerves settled). Linda, Daniel's mum was super sweet and she showed me her incredible garden, full of flowers and amazing trees. Walking in that garden is an experience itself and she was the perfect host. The room is unique, it looks like you are living with Frodo Beggins. The only thing is the bathroom outside the room in another area of the garden. But if you decide to stay in a place like that, you can handle it. My alarm was birds singing in the morning... Beautiful and relaxing.

We had an amazing stay in the lovely 'juniper' pod, it was warm, clean and very cosy! Daniel and Victoria were great hosts, very welcoming and were both excellent therapists for the treatments we booked. The hot tub was beautiful as well as the cream tea afterwards. We will definitely come back and stay longer!

Me and my partner spent the weekend at Diana's cottage. It was honestly the perfect place for a relaxing little getaway. The cottage is stunning! The Log burner was a lovely touch in the evening. Everything is top quality the bathroom was beautiful! Diana even provided bubble bath etc. I have to mention the breakfast- as exceeded expectations! So delicious! We felt truly spoilt! Thank you Diana also for the gift of their own free range goose eggs! Diana gave us lots of suggestions for the couple of days we were there. The local pub is only a 10 min walk away too! I would recommend the cottage 100%. I wish we could of stayed longer. We both left feeling well and truly relaxed! Thank you again for a wonderful stay! We'd love to come back.

Diana greeted us at the gate with energy, enthusiasm and a huge smile! The cottage, facilities and breakfast were all faultless. The kids loved the mezzanine sleeping arrangements. Diana's cottage is wonderful, very well maintained and Super lovely. We all absolutely love it the moment we arrived at hatch green. The rooms are as per the photos, very clean, the room up in the roof turned out to be slightly challenging for our teenagers to climb up and down to but they still enjoyed it nonetheless. The bathroom is huge with a beautiful big tub unfortunately we didn't have the time to use it. The shower is big and spacious and all amenities are provided for. Fluffy towels and robes too. The living room has nice seats with many books around and some board games. Now, the fav part of our stay was Diana's breakfast! Diana took order of our breakfast when we arrived. Omg! Everything was well prepared and presented. The eggs were so perfectly done. There were berries & yoghurt, bacon and sausages and they were absolutely delicious. I never had a black pudding before and I tried it at Diana's and love it! There were nothing to complain about Diana's place. We will definitely come back one day. Diana is the perfect hostess.

Our first Airbnb experience and we were not disappointed, we only wished we'd had the opportunity to stay longer. The property itself is wonderful, a cosy living room with log burner and sofas, a separate bedroom overlooking the patio and my favourite room, the bathroom, which with its free standing bathtub and walk-in shower, would not look out of place in a 5 star hotel! Diana was a great host offering good communication prior to the stay, spot on directions to get to the property and organising a table for us in the village pub for dinner. Our stay was rounded off with a fabulous farmhouse breakfast which was brought to us on day of departure. Highly recommended!

Diana was a fantastic host and the property is wonderful. It is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and we would have loved to have stayed longer. Diana could not do more to make you feel welcome and went out of her way to make our stay special. We cannot wait to return and to stay here again. In a nutshell... we have just returned from the most amazing weekend. The whole experience from the second I enquired with Fiona right up until our departure yesterday was seamless, and Fiona was an absolute superstar from start to finish. The Manor and surrounding properties were stunning - everything we'd wanted from the weekend and more. The girls and I were lucky enough to have the grand tour and we're already looking at an excuse to book again. I honestly can't thank Fiona enough for going that extra mile and making our hen weekend the best we could've hoped for. Her impeccable attention to detail is reflected in the quality and lovely little touches throughout the barn we stayed in. World class! PS: I'd highly recommend the clay pigeon shooting if away with a large group - lots of fun and Brian (our patient tutor) was excellent. We had the most amazing hen weekend at The Great Barn. The accommodation was breathtaking and the hosts excellent! I would recommend staying here for any occasion, but especially a hen do!

We had a fantastic 4 day break staying at the Great Long Barn. We were a group of 8 (2 families with each 2 children ranging from 6-12yrs old). The Barn was the perfect accommodation for us: a large garden for the kids to play in, a hot tub, a table tennis table and amble space inside for everyone too. Fiona and Spencer made us feel incredibly welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Fiona really went out of her way to make sure we had a brilliant time (the kids were even allowed a swim in the Manor swimming pool next door, which they were very chuffed about!). The beds were probably the best beds I have slept in - so comfortable, you don't want to get out of them in the mornings! Beautiful surroundings and plenty to do nearby. We did Dunster Castle one day and then found Wimbleball Lake Activity Centre for the following two days where the kids (and adults!) could try out archery, bushcraft ie. surviving in the wilderness, climbing and high ropes. We would highly recommend the Great Long Barn for any family or friends wanting a break away together or planning a reunion.

Both Fiona and Spencer were amazing hosts... very warm and welcoming and we couldn't have felt more at home. The location was perfect, quiet and secluded but not to far from local facilities. The Barn was wonderful and had everything we needed to make our stay perfect, especially the hot tub!! We ordered 3 meal drop-offs prepared by their French Chef and every meal was delicious. Having the food delivered made meal-times extra easy, the perfect add-on to the holiday. Couldn't recommend this place enough, its simply great!! Wonderful location, wonderful hosts, wonderful food!!

We have just got back from staying in The Great Barn! It was beautiful, even better than we expected, perfect for a hen weekend! The house was absolutely spotlessly clean and was beautifully decorated. We spent hours in the hot tub chatting and drinking prossecoo! Fiona and spencer were so helpful and welcoming we did not want to leave! Fiona even brought me over a toothbrush when I told her I had forgotten mine which saved us having to go out and buy one!!! 'The Bears' were so cute and friendly and kept us all entertained! Will be reccomending to everyone and already planning our next trip back!!! Thank you for having us!!!! X

We arrived at the barn for a hen weekend away, there were 12 of us ladies, and each of us was amazed with this property. Fiona (the owner of this property) was amazing at communicating and prepared the barn beautifully for us. The whole experience ran soothly and she was always around for any questions or queries. Not only was the barn well furnished and a fridge stocked up with water and soft drinks, she also had arranged tables for us to make a bar area and eating area. I truly thought the photos were amazing but it was even more incredible in real life. We headed to the local down one evening and had an amazing night out. Again, Fiona helped to organise us with cabs and recommended some lovely places for us. The jacuzzi was the highlight, as we managed to play our music through the speakers and there was no complaints. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a weekend away for a celebration of some sought!

The Nordic Lodge is a lovely, cosy place to stay. Three of us (plus luggage!) were able to fit there there comfortably. Peter is an exemplary host -- despite a late arrival, he was very amenable to settling us in, and in the morning provided a delicious continental breakfast, especially Lynn's banana bread (a highlight of the trip). Plus Tyrion and Hudson are very friendly and photogenic pets! As the listing mentions, there is no shower in the guest bathroom. This wasn't an issue for us, but something future guests would want to be aware of. Would definitely stay again if I'm ever in Exeter... I think it would be especially lovely in the summer!

This place is amazing. Every little detail has been thoughtfully considered. Peter kindly met me at the bus station. A bed had been made up with fresh towels and a flannel. Water and cutlery. Tons of blankets and cushions. Such a cozy place to relax. Lots of sweet lights and torches provided. There is a toilet and basin which was perfect in the main house with easy access. But sadly no shower (only downfall). The grounds are stunning and well kept. I mentioned I was vegan and Peter and Lynne kindly bought some soya milk to go with the lovely breakfast spread they put on. They checked in with me on a regular basis but with enough distance to allow me space to relax. And they have a beautiful, bouncy, excitable dog that was happy to give me cuddles. The bed was comfy, but I think two nights maybe three would be enough before it was S bit uncomfortable. I stayed on my own, and it was super but imagine it would be loads of fun with a group or family. Only thing is the very short distance at night from the bus stop to the house/hut is a bit Dark/scary if you don't have own transport. Perfect and highly recommended.

Amazing! Our hosts were warm and welcoming, the location was beautiful and the lodge was comfy and cosy. The breakfast provided was very yummy and included homemade bread and jam! All facilities were spotless, we enjoyed it so much that we left half of our belongings behind and had to go back for a second visit!

This is the ultimate airbnb experience! Peter and Lynne were very helpful, welcoming and think everything to the detail. The lodge itself was very cozy, complete with fair lights, plenty of throws and pillows and the barbecue inside functions perfectly. We felt very much at home! The surroundings are wonderful, plenty of space outside to have meals or play catch with the hosts´ little puppy Tyrion. Breakfast was lovely! We were only sorry we couldn´t stay longer and were planning our return even before we left. Thank you Peter and Lynne!

We had a great time at the Nordic Lodge, the location, views and hosts were great, and the lodge is lovely, such a warm and romantic feel. There are fairy lights aplenty, a heater, all of the cutlery/plates etc you need and the hosts gave us a great tour of the facilities on arrival. The breakfast was amazing too, huge choice of cereals, bagels and toaster, croissants etc. If we are back in the area we will be back for sure!

Staying at the Romany Caravan was great fun. Set in a beautiful country garden, we couldn't have been looked after better by Liz and Jan. They were very welcoming and helpful with advice for our week's stay in Cornwall. The caravan and cabin were very thoughtfully equipped. A wonderful stay and a wonderful breakfast too - thank you.

Liz and Jan were the most perfect hosts. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe how amazing they are. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful the setting and garden are! Plus there are all the home comforts you could ever need (including a TV and multiple plug points). The cooked breakfast and picnic breakfast if you want to have a lie in are both just dreamy. The only bad thing about the whole weekend was that we had to come home!!

What a truly magical place ... Jan and Liz are amazing hosts ... Nothing was too much trouble!! The gardens which is your view from the day cabin are beautiful. I went for a 2 day break with my 9 year old son, it was perfect ... Only about 2 miles from Bude ... We didn't need to go anywhere else. He had the freedom to run around the garden ....the breakfast hamper was great !!! More food than we could eat for breakfast and lunch !! Thank you both for a lovely stay ... Shame the British weather wasn't as amazing as guys. Look forward to coming again. This is the place to pick for a relaxing break ... Lovely walks .. Beautiful views amd lovely hosts.

Staying with liz and jan was fantastic. They were both welcoming genuine and kind. The caravan was cute with electric and very comfortable. The cabin was even cuter and comfortable and the view was spectacular. The cooked breakfast was scrummy and the picnic breakfast was also a delight. We had a wonderful stay at the Romany Caravan at Bush. It was the most idyllic setting, so peaceful and beautiful. Liz and Jan were there to welcome us and were the perfect hosts. We had amazing weather but I am sure the romantic setting would be just as nice in the rain. Would recommend a stay here the experience was most memorable from start to finish. Judith and James were wonderful hosts, they balanced being helpful & friendly and non-intrusive at the same time perfectly. The peace and tranquillity provided us with the best start to our holiday. It truly was a real escape from the outside world and we loved the fact there was no internet or phone signal at the house or in the gardens. As we drove towards the house we were greeted by a Roe Deer (who quickly disappeared into the woods). As hard as we tried we didn’t spot it again, but we did see numerous other wildlife simply by sitting and waiting on the hut’s veranda or exploring the beautiful gardens and surrounding area. The accommodation suited our needs completely, the hut was clean and tidy, comfortable and homely and had all the cooking utensils we required. We didn’t make use of the pool, other than sitting with legs dangling in, but saw this as a real treat to those who have the time to enjoy a swim. Maps of the local area as well as cycle/walking routes around Hemyock were available; whilst there is a TV in the bedroom we didn’t turn it on once. We intend to return again (hopefully for longer than the two nights we enjoyed this time) and would recommend to everyone who is after a complete break from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Mot perfect little retreat away from the city life! Very spacious, as the photos don't show actually how big it was! We went for dinner in the local village pub, which isn't much from the outside but really teaches you not to judge a book by its cover, as the food was absolutely delicious!! This property is a gem. Cozy, bright and blissfully lacking internet and tv (and not great phone reception). Perfect for a quiet time away. Judith is a wonderful and warm host. I would recommend her and the space to anyone without hesitation, and we hope to return.

Judith was very welcoming indeed and the cabin was wonderful. So much charm and such a relaxing, calm place. The company of the chickens and rooster were a very welcome addition to the picture-perfect setting and the log-burner was a treat! Kitchen was perfect and the VHS selection was great (we watched The English Patient - still a cracker). Recommend the place to everyone and would love to come back in the summer!

The Little House was absolutely the best place we could have found for our Anniversary break. The ideal escape with the woofer - really informal and very welcoming, the hosts are really flexible and friendly and the location is just beautiful. The log burner was just the ticket and we couldn't have had a more relaxed stay. Some great pubs nearby (The Inn at Churchinford was really good value and great lemon posset pudding!) and Exeter and Taunton equally commutable if you want to get an urban fix. We'd reccomend it over and over again!

The Little House was the perfect place to stay - beautiful and quiet. Judith was extremely accommodating and welcoming and the house had everything we needed. We weren't blessed with good weather, but with the woodstove going, the house was extremely warm and cosy, and the sofa the perfect place to read. We loved spending time there. Judith was very helpful recommending places nearby, and there are lots of little towns nearby to get groceries. We had a wonderful meal at the Catherine Wheel, Hemyock. The Little House was exactly the holiday we were looking for .

Amazing place loved every minute if you want somewhere different to stay I would recommend here for sure Can't fault anything about the place Host was brill on hand via txt anytime you needed them not that we did only a couple of questions as we had never stayed on a boat before so just checked a couple of things with them and there response was quick. Wow, what a fantastic place to stay for a couple of nights. A really great experience and something completely different than the usual B&B's or hotels. The Anguilla Promise does not feel like a 30 year old boat and has everything on board you need. My son and I even used one of the inflatable kayaks to explore the marina further. The marina facilities are excellent and very clean. Nice hot showers too. Alan provided me with all the necessary information prior to our arrival and once we had boarded the boat, we were soon up to speed with how things worked. Brixham is a nice harbour town and I would definitely go back again.

We had a fab time staying on the boat, a real adventure with a beautiful setting. It's lovely to wake up on the marina in the morning with the sunshine. We liked it that much we stayed an extra night!

This was a really excellent weekend break for us. The setting is quite special and what a lovely boat!

We expected a quiet tranquil weekend and got that and much more. First the boat is cosy but fun and comfortable. It gives you an idea of what giving it all up to live by the sea might really be like. We relaxed straight away. Second the marina is really lovely. The facilities are excellent, shower block is really clean and modern, no waiting. And third it's a fantastic angle on Brixham which is a busy fishing and tourist town. Absolutely gorgeous and the seafood is wonderful. All in all a great break on the Anguilla Promise in Brixham, we'd love to visit again.

We had a lovely peaceful weekend at The Holt (2adults and 1dog). It is very clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked in terms of cups, plates, utensils, pots&pans etc. There is also a table and 2 chairs provided. Bathroom has shower gels/shampoo's/conditioner/hairdryer as well as towels. The shower has great pressure too. The sofa is comfy to relax on as well as sleep on. When we stayed the weather was very hot, so sleeping on mezzanine level was quite warm, we swapped to the sofa bed. TV, books and DVD selection are great additions too. The Holt was perfect for our one nights stay. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed going to the 'community' shop to buy our tea. Kirby was a lovely host and let our children see her cute 'duck that thinks its a chicken'! The location is rural but we found it very easy to find. It was so peaceful and the accommodation had all that we needed and was very clean and comfortable.

We had a lovely time at 'The Holt'. A nicely presented retreat in the cute village of Churchinford. We especially liked the private outdoor space where we relaxed and ate every evening next to the farm animals. Kirby was a great host who made us feel very welcome. Tea, coffee, sugar and other necessities were a nice touch too. Highly recommend.

The Holt was the perfect choice for a relaxing and peaceful escape to the countryside. In the middle of the woods but very easy to reach, The Holt offered us anything we could ask for the weekend; cozy atmosphere in a very well-designed and warm settlement, fully-equipped and just a stone-thrown away from local amenities. We even had breakfast at the outdoor garden, overlooking the leafy neighbourhood! Thank you Kirby for being so discreet and friendly!

Lovely peaceful location, Kirby's excellent directions made it easy to find. The Holt is a very high quality renovation, with luxurious shower room and all home comforts. It is just a short distance from the centre of the village and walking distance to the local pub. If you are an older person or have any mobility issues you wouldn't want to risk the mezzanine sleeping area (although very warm and comfortable) but there is a sofa bed as an alternative. Kirby is a very welcoming and helpful host.

We received a message from Kirby before heading down to The Holt letting us know how to get into the property and telling us to make ourselves at home. This was such a nice touch. When we arrived we settled in, checked out the welcome book and felt really at home. It's a small space but incredibly well designed and thought out. Places for shoes and wellies so it doesn't get cluttered. The bathroom is beautiful and we cooked quite a few meals without much trouble at all - we had absolutely everything we needed. We met Kirby on our first evening evening who gave us (and our dog) a lovely welcome. The Holt is attached to Kirby's home but feels like a very private space, and there's space to sit out if the weather's fine. There were lots of books, games, DVDs etc. to keep us occupied and loads of local info to peruse. We didn't sleep on the mezzanine (the dog wouldn't let us, he thought we'd disappeared!) so made do on the sofa bed - it was great to have this as a second option although it didn't come close to the Tempur mattress for comfort ;-) Lovely to have a few toiletries provided too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Holt, we had a very peaceful and comfortable stay.

Peter and Lynne were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, the best car parks to use, transport links into the city and the university. The location was ideal for us. We stayed for one night in two adjacent double rooms. Peter contacted me before our departure to check on the sleeping arrangements for our teenage girls which was really thoughtful of him. Peter and Lynne own a beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable and relaxing home with plenty of space for us as well as the other guests. The rooms were very spacious, very clean, comfortable and peaceful. We had a good night's sleep. We liked the special touches such as the bathrobe (handy for going to and from the shared bathroom), tea, coffee and sweets in the rooms as well as being welcomed to use the kitchen to make hot drinks, collect fresh milk and water just as we would at home. Breakfast was first class with lots of choice -a great way to start the day! Thank you for welcoming us into your lovely family home and for making our first Airbnb stay a pleasurable experience.

The house is beautifully done and was a great place to stay. We came as a group of 10 and Peter and his wife were incredibly accommodating, including tips on good takeaways nearby and laying out breakfast for us. I imagine it'd be an ideal place for couples or a family looking for peace and quiet too. Thanks again Peter

The location was perfect for our stay. The Exeter boundary was within yards of the front door. The accommodation was comfortable, spotless and really well presented. Peter and lynne were perfect hostess and made us really welcome. We would definitely recommend them.

We were down on mass (7) for a family jaunt, (my daughters 18th Birthday 'Great Gatsby" party) Peter & Lynne... Great hosts and a lovely place to be, with some and some beautiful views. A country house vibe and only a 10 minute drive to Exeter City central. Driving down from London we stopped in Topsham for lunch at the 'Passage House Inn' pub for lunch. Peter happened to call as to our ETA. Upon learning our location for lunch he told me he was great friends with Landlords (Neil & Carla) and we were totally looked after. I would highly recommend and we'll definitely be back and ensure we take the whole house next time and hang out with Peter, Lynne and family. Sean & Heather Stuart

A colleague and I just needed a one night stay in Exeter to attend a local currency conference with the Exeter Pound. Peter an Lynne were delightful to stay with and there home is as spotless as my mum's! They made is feel really welcome and relaxed. Peter even gave us a lift down to the local pub! They live in a beautiful spot and we even saw a deer and fox in their paddock.

Everything was in line with our expectations. James was very kind.

Very helpful and friendly host - allowed me to arrive at any time, offered drinks and toast, shared a sofa to watch quiz shows on the TV. Room comfortable and spacious and had all facilities required. Location is good for railway, although slightly on the wrong side for the city centre.

We had a great stay at Gary's place. We arrived late in the evening and he was there to greet us and help us settle in. The room was great- even better than the photos! Had a very homely feel and a lovely ensuite. There was a big folder full of things to see and do around the area. The bed was very comfortable and the area around the house felt safe and was peaceful. A great place to stay for our short time in Torquay!

Gary & Steve were fantastic hosts and they couldn't do enough for us! they were incredibly friendly and the hot tub at night is absolutely magical! will definitely be coming back!

Both Gary and Steve could not have been more welcoming. They showed us around and there was tea and coffee facilities and full use of the kitchen. It is in a lovely location and very quiet but not far from the madding crowd.

We spent one night at Gary and Steve house which was a great experience! Both are lovely and very welcoming as we had the opportunity to chat a bit with them. We also enjoyed a jacuzzi session in their beautiful garden! The bedroom and ensuite bathroom are clean and spacious. The house is 15 min walk from the harbour. Perfect!

Gary's place was in a stunning location, so close to the seafront in a peaceful residential area. It was only a few minutes into town. Gary was a warm, welcoming host with a beautiful home. The bed was super comfy and we felt super looked after with the information book placed in the room. Location, price and host a total winner. Would highly recommend.

Everything was perfect. Genuinely. We were greeted by Peter as Anne was out at the time. We were shown around and shown how to use everything. It's amazing what Anne and Peter have been able to do with the space they had. Very clever design/engineering done especially for the pull out sofa and the bef The pictures speak for themselves and yes everything really is that lovely. They have a great how to use guide too if you forget anything. Location is also brilliant, within a short drive of pretty much anywhere in Exmoor national park and the rest of the area. Whilst we didn't need it they have provided a map for the local area. Also in the booklet are leaflets showing you everything in the area, all of them up to date. You get to see the Steam train several times a day if you're sticking around but even if you're not you'll definitely see it a few times! Along with the sheep in the back too! (Don't worry they're friendly as can be) All in all it was the perfect break and had everything we wanted in a perfect location for what we wanted to do (walking, hiking, small towns, local shops, etc).

Just spent a few days at the Steam Rocket and loved every minute of it. An incredibly peaceful and aesthetic location with the occasional vintage steam train passing by giving a 'Railway Children' feel - funny how there's almost a compulsion to wave which was invariably reciprocated by a lot of the passengers! Anne was a welcoming and friendly host (home baked lemon drizzle cake on the table) and the accommodation whilst having a retro appearance was modern and cleverly designed to provide all amenities. Simply sitting out on the decking reading or looking at the scenery was a delight, as were a number of country walks. In the event of any shopping being necessary, there are supermarkets in the village of Williton 5 minutes away. Recommended if you're in need of a break to recharge your batteries!

The Steam Rocket is a delightful place to stay in a lovely quiet location, and the hosts, Anne & Pete were lovely, and very helpful. Communication prior to the stay was good and we turned up with a certain level of expectation, but I have to say the photos do not do justice to the Rocket, which was even better than expected! We spent 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The facilities are good and the bed is very comfortable, slept like the proverbial log. From here you're well placed to explore the surrounding area, your own transport is essential, but the effort is well worth it, as this is a beautiful part of the country. We loved it here and would recommend it without reservation

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend at the Steam Rocket - we had an absolutely brilliant time. Anne and her husband were extremely friendly and helpful, and Anne was very quick to reply to messages prior to our arrival. The Steam Rocket is in a beautiful and tranquil location, perfect for relaxing in peace. The accommodation is immaculate, with everything you could need during a stay. The caravan is a brilliant fusion of retro style and modern technology (such as the arm mounted TVs and all the lighting variations). The homemade cake on arrival was a lovely touch - and truly delicious. There were lots of leaflets on local attractions and walks - and of course on the West Somerset Railway which runs past the caravan. Our friends were all envious from our photos posted on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)! We would highly recommend the Steam Rocket and would love to stay there again.

I hadn't told my partner where we were staying as we pulled up at the house, and when we turned the corner and I pointed out the Rocket, he was delighted! The instructions were simple to follow and we had no problems at all, though we'd travelled quite a distance. Anne was very welcoming and made it clear that they were available at any time should we need help or advice, but otherwise we could be quite private. It was a wonderful location, with a wooden platform looking out over a field, and the occasional steam train chugging by. Sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine, listening to the birds and chatting over a meal, was so relaxing. Perfect therapy for a break from everyday pressures.

Having just returned from a 2 night stay at the Steam Rocket I can say it is exactly as advertised and more. Yes it's a smallish space but perfect for a couple and the attention to detail, and the cleanliness are great. It is well equipped and warm. Anne was also really helpful. Views of the lambs in the field and the trains going by were also very welcome! It was great to see the reaction of the passengers on the train to the Steam Rocket! Unfortunately for us the steam trains weren't running due to it being early in the season- just the diesel. The only draw back - if it is one, is that there are no pubs within walking distance. However there are plenty within driving distance. The Notley is fab!

The Stream Rocket was fantastic !! Anne and her Husband were really friendly and left us to get on with our own devises. Anne offered her help if and when we needed it but we were quite happy being entertained by the sheep and steam train going by. Everything is near by, a local co-op and some pubs. Wifi was fantastic which is always helpful! The steam rocket is fantastically crafted and has everything you need in it (the combi oven is amazing). We didn't want to leave here and definitely recommend it.

There is very little that I can add to my review that hasn't already been mentioned by the long line of happy campers who have been to the Steam Rocket; it's simply a great place to be. I'm nearing my mid-forties yet giggled like a teenager most of the first night at how amazing this space was, how neat and compact but never too small or too difficult to manage. The bed was the best I have ever slept in (Anne, I need to know who made that mattress!) and the views and tranquillity were everything I had hoped for. Anne even let us stay longer than the formal check-out time so we could perform that inexplicable but ultimately satisfying action of waving at the steam train when it went past for the first time that day. Williton station is a 40 minute walk away through country lanes and public footpaths (at one point going through a working farm populated by wandering turkeys and emus) and the steam train is of course a delight. The Steam Rocket has an excellent compendium of things to do and information about the trains, with timetables too. We took the 11.02 into Minehead, and whilst my impression of Minehead may offend some, the journey there was lovely, 45 minutes and excellent views out to sea at some stretches of the line. Book the Steam Rocket and bask in the warm welcome of Anne, the unique space and childlike joy in staying there, and sample the plethora of great things to do and see in that part of the world. Just, maybe don't go to Minehead.

Lovely little cabin nestled in a secluded patch of woods. So cosy inside, would recommend for a base for exploring Dartmoor.

Lovely stay at the cabin with some of my friends for my birthday, Leanne even baked a very yummy birthday cake which was left out with a bottle of bubbles and glasses, which was so thoughtful and totally not expected! Thank you so much will definitely stay again, it was a really fun experience!

We had a lovely time away staying at this magical cabin in the woods. Even though it was March, we were warm and cosy and very happy. Leanne and her partner were welcoming and helpful and there was even a lovely cake waiting for us when we arrived.

We had a lovely 3 night pre- Easter get away in The Coach Barn. Beautiful setting, cosy and comfortable suites with the biggest beds and a wonderful cooked and continental breakfast in the Roundhouse.

Stayed at Swallow Barn for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. It was exactly as shown in the photos. It's secluded location was really relaxing, but it is only a short drive to a town with everything you could need. Also the stunning Dartmoor is a short drive away. The bed was really comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing! Bill was very accommodating and very friendly and made the stay really enjoyable. I will definitely go back but I'd like to go back in the colder weather so I can make use of the wood burner!

Bill & his wife welcomed us very friendly once we arrived. Even before we arrived communication was a breeze and we even phoned Bill in advance to ask for restaurant recommendations which he gladly provided. The barn is beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. There were tea, coffee, milk, (delicious) homemade cookies and fresh fruits already in the room for us to enjoy. The bed was comfortable. The barn is really quiet and has a wonderful view. Breakfast is also very good and offers a great variety.

Staying at Wonwood was a treat... The buildings had been beautifully restored, the location close to Dartmoor moors peaceful, and every effort was made by Bill and Claudine to make us comfortable, even at such short notice of our booking. Would love to come again! Best wishes Simon, Sarah & Thomas

What a magical spot! Bill was very welcoming, even to the point where we were invited to share some delicious paella when we arrived in the evening with a party he was hosting. It's a place that offers instant relaxation with elegantly comfortable rooms - with a shower and a bed that are v hard to get out of - and a life-affirming breakfast. Thanks for being great hosts. My friend and I were looking for a country getaway and came across Swallow Barn. We had a lovely stay in a very clean, comfortable place with a fireplace to keep us toasty and some animals to keep us company. Bill and his wife prepared us delicious breakfasts- perfect to energise us for some great walks in the stunning Dartmoor national park (v close by). Definitely recommend it!

Received a lovely welcome of homemade soup and bread after our long drive. The setting and shepherd's hut were superb, amazing views, friendly chickens and a firepit for whether sun goes down. The hut itself was very cosy and warm. Location wise, it's a very short drive to Boscastle and about a quarter of an hour from Tintagel. There is a local pub about twenty minutes walk away populated by very friendly locals. A real breath of fresh air, would highly recommend, thanks for having us

We stayed at the shepard's hut in Boscastle for two nights in July, 2014. In short, our stay was simply fantastic. Upon arrival, our delightfully friendly host (Caroline) gave us a tour of the site, showing us the facilities that included a hot shower, fully functioning kitchen, campfire (with logs, matches and fire-lighters), and the clean, dry and extremely cosy shepard's hut that boasted a terrifically warm and comfortable double bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on campus, with highlights including drinking cold beer next to a roaring campfire on our first evening and walking the mown paths that mark the perimeter of all of the fields in the immediate proximity. In addition to this, Caroline had left a welcoming gesture of delicious homemade bread and locally produced brie, which was warmly received and quickly consumed! Away from the site, we were able to swim in the sea and sit on the beach in the sunshine at Crackington Haven (5/10 minutes away by car), explore Boscastle and Boscastle Harbour (again, 5/10 minutes away by car), visit Tintagel Castle (15/20 minutes away by car) and have a wonder about in picturesque Padstow (35/40 minutes away by car). Finally, visiting the Boscastle Farm Shop is a must, the Full Cornish Breakfast was flawless and the views from the table; spectacular! Thank you very much to our host Caroline, we'll defiantly be visiting again and would advise others in search of a unique experience in the heart of the Cornish countryside to do the same!

My long weekend in the this stunningly beautiful and bucolic Boscastle farmland was everything I hoped for and then more and then more and then more! The shepherd's hut is what drew me to the place, but Caroline and Tony's generosity of spirit, which fills the entire set up -- from the comfortable bed to the fresh flowers -- from the home-baked bread and brie to the unexpected gift of strawberries and raspberries on meringue one lovely evening -- is what made this three day weekend exceed all expectations. An American woman travelling alone, I had never been to Cornwall, and this was a grand adventure, but also an escape from studies and chaos in London. The setting was perfect: wonderful sleep in the comfy bed with the sea air, a perfect little kitchen set-up, and a great hot shower at the end of a long day of walking. The location is ideal for the little bit of exploring I was able to do of Tintagel, Boscastle, and the Valency River Valley (you Hardy fans). Caroline and Tony made these adventures possible and always expressed genuine concern and care for my well-being. I was well tended, although with my solitude still well intact. What more is there to say, except I wish I could return for longer!

My wife and I spent 2 nights in this amazing, cozy and delightful hut in August. It was fantastic. Caroline welcomed us, left us some delicious homemade bread and hummus, then left us to it. We loved being away from the world and overlooking the Atlantic, while being greeted by the chickens. The hut is warm and well thought out and the cooking and shower units were more than you can ask for when staying in a shepherds hut. Our only regret was that we never got chance to goodbye as we were up and on the road early on the last day. I genuinely would recommend this place to anyone. Especially if you just want a break from the world. It was our first airbnb experience and if we are ever in the UK again we would love to come back.

Caroline and Tony were wonderful hosts. Tony went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable in the shepherds hut, even coming out late at night to help with the fire.

We spent a fantastic week at Caroline's Shepard's Hut! We were warm and dry and love spending the evening unwinding by the fire looking down on to Boscastle. We decided to take a walk from the hut to Tintagel and back along the coastal path, which was great (but maybe a bit lengthy for some at 13 miles). When the weather was less kind we spent time exploring the various coves and hidden beaches whilst sampling the odd cream tea or two. We'd come back to this place again for sure - hopefully with slightly better weather next time! Caroline is a great host; friendly, informative but very much focussed on letting us crack on with our trip.

We had a fantastic stay at Caroline's shepherds hut near Boscastle. The view from the hut is incredible! Caroline gave us the space we wanted but we knew we could approach her if there was an issue. The shepherds hut was well presented, comfortable and had everything we needed. Caroline provided her own very useful guidebook of sightseeing / things to do in the surrounding areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we would do it all again and we highly recommend Caroline as a host.i

Hilary is incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Everything about our stay was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great and Hilarys' home is beyond beautiful.

A lovely comfortable stay, epic breakfast and a stunning view whilst you enjoy it. Hilary and Robin were great and very accommodating. Bedroom and the whole house was immaculate. We will definitely recommend it to any couple and hope to be back soon :)

Hilary made us feel really welcome and comfortable in her home. All the facilities were present as mentioned and the listing description was accurate. Her house was exceptionally clean. Although small, Hilary has a beautiful home and garden with stunning views across to Wales. The location is ideal with only a 15 minute walk into town. I would 100% reccomend Hilary.

It is obvious that Hilary has a hospitality background from the efficient check in to the beautifully presented breakfast (with the most stunning view!) the private bathroom is spacious and the bed is most comfortable. I felt very welcome and at home and I am so glad I stayed with them.
