  • Everything about Vivienne’s place was amazing, much better than we expected. 5* for hospitality and the kindness. The host Vivienne is a genuine person who does her upmost to ensure you enjoy your stay. Enzo her dog is the cutest and most friendly who adores all other dogs and it’s so calming to wake up to the free roaming chickens. Remote location, romantic and loads to do in the surrounding areas (if you like to walk/have a dog etc). Even if you are looking for a quiet weekend away to just escape city life - it’s perfect. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back! :)

  • My dearest Vivienne, Many thanks for the great hospitality, and amazing chats! You have the kindest heart and your generosity shows on every single stay! I always feel welcome and leave well rested - always look forward to my next stay! Many thanks for everything!! Take good care of yourself!

  • The perfect location for a cosy weekend in the country. Vivienne gave a very warm welcome and made us feel at home straight away. Our cockapoo loved playing with Enzo too. Very close to Rye (lovely old town with shops and cafes) and some lovely beaches for walks including Rye Harbour and Cambasands. Great pubs for a drink or relaxing meal nearby - the woolpack was a favourite, reasonably priced and excellent quality and service. Dogs allowed too! Vivienne very kindly provides breakfast options and other treats which is such lovely touch. We also enjoyed watching the chickens (and master goose) running around the farm. 10/10 xx

  • What an incredible place! The barn was warm and cosy with absolutely everything you could need and a fantastic breakfast spread thrown in that I wasn't expecting! The farm setting is gorgeous, Vivienne was super friendly and offered loads of helpful local tips and her crazy little puppy Enzo quickly became best mates with my crazy little puppy and they chased each other round the farm having a wonderful time! All this in a beautiful, unspoilt corner of the country, highly recommended!

    Jonny2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a brilliant weekend despite storm Dennis! The stable block was lovely, Vivienne was a very welcoming host and the village is beautiful. Definitely recommend to stay here, you won’t be disappointed! X

  • A truly lovely space with so many thoughtful touches which was perfect for a relaxing stay. Our host Vivienne was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed and her dog was the friendliest chap! We were there for the scary storm but felt very safe and cosy throughout. Will definitely return - I can imagine it's amazing in the summer.

  • Thank you! This hut was a lovely little retreat to recharge our batteries with the fresh country air. We felt so comfortable and relaxed we could just sit in bed and read all day and let the time pass by. We did pop out for a little walk and there are lots of routes nearby but you need a good map and sense of direction as they're not well used. The hut is lovely, very warm, super warm and comfortable bed (want that bed at home) and the food supplied is amazing. Really spoilt for choice. Thank you so much for stocking up for us. We really loved being in the hut during the wind and the rain, felt really relaxed and comforting hearing the rain on the windows. Enzo is a very friendly and lovable dog with alot of energy who you'll also see around the farm, our dog liquorice who is a bit older got on fine with him.

  • We had a fanastic stay at Vivienne and Bob's lovely place! Everything was perfect; wonderful accomodation, beautiful surroundings, hassle free check-in and out - we look forward to going back! Thanks again. Alice & Jack

  • Wow, what a lovely charming, beautiful, relaxing, rustic, characteristic cabin. I loved it and i will return .

    Geoff2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is 10/10, Vivienne has added every little touch you could imagine to the cabin, the breakfast was there and it was great! The recommendations for places to eat were spot on. We really did have a lovely time! Thankyou! I read some of the reviews about things being dated and was slightly concerned but everything was working fine for us and there was more than enough kit for the size of the cabin, and it wasn’t all in the way which made the place really cosy! Oh yes - do not worry about the cold outside - it’s nice and toasty in there! If you have a doggo again you’re catered for with the field off the back being fenced off they can run around until their legs can’t go any more (the torch supplied was a godsend for this) and plenty of footpaths nearby too!

Welcome to Whispering Willows, a luxury attic space apartment that you will instantly fall in love with. The apartment is quite stunning. There are so many things for you to see in this area so come and explore... I feel it is important to get away from the daily grind to 're-kindle' why you got together in the first place! We have plans on other quirky spaces to stay in the future, so watch this space... We hope to see you soon... Deborah & Steve
Whispering Willows is a special place that is furnished to a very high standard. We are sure that once you set foot in the door, you won't want to leave. It is a self contained attic space with 1 bedroom, 1 en-suite, lounge and kitchen. So what are you waiting for...come and re-kindle yourselves...
Appledore is a lovely little village. It has a great pub, The Black Lion, with very welcoming staff and good food. There is a great tea room, Miss Molletts, fabulous cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee etc. We have a well stocked village store. Free tennis courts on the playing field. If you need to get glammed up for a night out, we now have a new Hairdressers in the village, 'Blush' - highly recommended.
  • Whispering Willows was a fantastic getaway, the hot tub was excellent and the hosts Deborah and Steve were very thoughtful. They added little extras to our stay such as a birthday banner and a few beers in the fridge! We would definitely recommend a stay here.

    Natalie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Whispering Willows is the perfect place to escape reality! Debs & Steve have thought of all amenities to have a home away from home! Lots of local places to go out to eat and see! The hot tub is the icing on the cake! Thank you Debs and Steve!!

  • Beautiful accommodation, lovely location. Both hosts were friendly and helpful. Would stay again and would recommend to others.

  • Wonderful place to stay. Very easy check-in and out. Nice little place, perfect for a couple and great central location for historical attractions in Kent and East Sussex - equidistant from Dover Castle, Battle and Pevensey. Just what we needed! Would recommend/stay again.

    Sam2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little loft conversion, perfect for a relaxing weekend away for my partner’s birthday. Lots of little touches from Debs and Steve made it even better, not the mention the hot tub! Thank you.

    Laura2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Deb & Steve’s place. As Londoners, we couldn’t have wished for more of a welcome escape from city life. It’s quiet, rural, dark (if you’re after low light pollution) and well located for walks, English vineyards and good pubs! The place itself is cosy, nicely furnished and with a decent-sized kitchen if you’re up for self-catering. Can’t comment on the hot tub, as it was January and we chickened out of going in! They are right about transport - you’re definitely better off with a car but we did manage to get to Appledore and back a couple of times (only 20 mins stroll, mostly with pavement) and to the Ferry Inn, even at night on foot. Deb & Steve do provide bikes if you’re up for a country lane cycle. Can recommend the Black Lion pub in Appledore and Miss Mollets Tea Room. The former for fish pie or any seafood really, and the latter for excellent tea, cakes and sandwiches. If they have the sticky toffee date cake on the menu, order it without hesitation. Deb & Steve are excellent hosts, very welcoming, with great comms and plenty of local tips. And even picked us up for the station!

    Jamie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean, private loft space in the middle of a quiet, picturesque town with great pubs and vineyards! Deborah and Steve were great hosts, providing us with information in the loft on arrival and prior to our stay. Small personal touches and the Jacuzzi made for a great get a way weekend. Thanks!

Ruffyneshill Cartshed has recently been converted to provide modern style accommodation in the backdrop of the medieval Manor House. Situated on the outskirts of Aldington village, which boasts a freshfoods butcher-cum-fishmonger, post office and pub, it is well placed for visiting East Kent and beyond and is only 8 miles (15 minutes) from the Channel Tunnel. Canterbury and Rochester are within easy reach by car and the property is on the edge of Romney Marsh where time seems to stand still.
Ruffyneshill Cartshed is available for holiday or short-term let. The property has a designated area in the adjoining medieval walled garden for guests to enjoy outdoor meals. It overlooks the beautiful 16th century Ruffynes Barn. The accommodation comprises a living room with dining area and TV, a separate small but fully equipped kitchen with a small combi-microwave oven, washing-up & washing machines, bedroom with a further TV and shower room. Whilst ideal for two people, there is a sofa bed in the living area which could accommodate another adult or 2 small children and there is the king-sized (5foot) double bed with memory foam/coil sprung mattress in the main bedroom.
Aldington is 10 minutes away from Ashford, itself on the main M20 route between Folkestone and London. Ruffyneshill Cartshed is located away from the road, set in the courtyard of the former farm.
  • Would recommend to anyone, beautiful little annex with all the personal touches you could want, host was so helpful and attentive. In the country side so lovely and peaceful but close enough to big towns with lots to do! Will certainly plan to go back.

  • Steve was a very accommodating and friendly host. This was an ideal location for us and was wonderfully quiet, clean and comfortable. Parking space was also great (it's nice when you can turn your car without having to constantly watch for traffic). Would definitely recommend this place and expect we'll be visiting again in the future!

  • It is a magical place you really have to see. If for Carols charming positive warm manner, or the cute house with its beautiful interior giving you the feeling you are in a fairy tale, or simply the central location with every worth visiting sight just a stone through away – I assure you, you won’t regret to have come there. The place has a soul, a character of its own, which takes you out of the everyday into a reality where the clocks work different. You will know what I mean when you enter the house the first time and shake Carols hand. It’s an unforgettable experience.

    Ben2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely snug cottage in a really beautiful location. A good mix of isolated (big skies and lovely views) but very near local amenities like Rye. Was able to see the sun set from the back garden and good walks from your doorstep. The cottage was clean and had everything we required - highly recommend.

  • Needed to escape from the world for the weekend. Yvonne’s place was perfect. So peaceful and relaxing as literally no one else around, will definitely be going back in the summer.

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow is very comfortable, lovely bed, nice big and light living space, has everything you need and it is nicely decorated. Also has interesting maps and books about the local area which is fascinating. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Very peaceful setting, and a cosy, comfortable bungalow. Interesting walks, sites and places to eat nearby. Perfect for a quiet weekend away.

  • This is a beautiful little private bungalow situated in the Kentish countryside. First of all, I should say the landscape is beautiful, flat for miles around and full of sheep, but despite this it wasn't too hard to find even in fading light. It's near a beautiful old small chapel too which you can go on a short (if muddy) walk to that you can look inside, which is well worth a visit. In addition, it's within striking distance of the beautiful town of Rye and even a good base for visiting the family friendly seaside resort of Hastings and Battle which are about a half hour away. The accommodation itself is sizeable and private, but really cosy. The bed was really comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. Yvonne made us feel really welcome - she even left us croissants for breakfast for our first morning as well as milk. She was also helpful in giving a guide suggesting plenty of things to see and nice countryside walking routes. Be aware that wireless is patchy and while there is a TV there is no DVD player or any on demand services - just regular TV. In addition, I would say having a car is essential when staying here, as it might be difficult to reach otherwise. Overall, my wife and I had a great stay - it's perfect as a couple's weekend away, either for a countryside escape or as a base to visit the many surrounding areas of interest. Highly recommended and would look for it as a first option whenever we next return to visit the area!

  • Carol's place is what makes Air BnB such a great initiative - from the minute we arrived we could not have been made to feel more welcome. The cottage itself is very pretty, and our room was super cosy with thoughtful touches like tea/coffee, books, a cosy place to sit, along with delicious homemade cakes! We had a lovely, relaxed stay. Delicious breakfast, served in a lovely space with Carol's own, beautiful ceramics. We hope to return!

    Anni2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carol’s house is lovely and both her and Rosemary were very hospitable and kind. We also fell in love with Mischief and Bertie who are adorable pets. My 10yo daughter says she’s never stayed at a better hotel! Great experience all round, would definitely recommend. Thanks again for a lovely stay!

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Rosemary are one of amazing host I have met in my journey. Carol is very kind and helpful since I started contacting her. She have sent many essential information and help thinking about places to walk and dine since this is my BD trip. We ended getting stranded in the the train station due to the storm but they came to pick us up. When we arrived the room is very beautiful and well decorated with home and artistic touch that you can never find anywhere. I also has lovely surprise BD cake with a card in the room and also homemade dinner as my BD celebration. We could never found any better place to stay for my special occasion. Breakfast is fresh and tasty. The house is very peaceful and surrounded by nature. Highly recommended for anyone.

  • Felt like an oasis, close to London but in rural Kent, with beautiful nature all round (enjoyed the darkness that made for great starry skies and silence). Carol is a very attentive and kind host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Jenn2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Carol makes sure that everything is perfect and makes us feel at home every time we're staying. Too bad, that staying there makes the time go by much faster than normal...

    Dennis2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I lived in Carols warm home for 2 months whilst working down the road. My room was completely private with a bathroom and little seating area, it is beautifully decorated with little quirks wherever you look! As a host Carol is welcoming, more than willing to help where she can, and always has a smile! Her family consists of her daughter, dog and cat, and they are always the first to welcome you home! If you looking for a peaceful getaway with the option of driving to the nearby villages to explore or like me, make yourself at home in order to work in the area for a little while, then this is the perfect place. Don’t expect sleek, slick, ultra modern, this is the country and Carol has made it into a perfect country getaway. Remember that in the country you often struggle with cell phone reception but there is WiFi if you need, it is also about 6km walk to Ham street station, the walk is through fields and is lovely but if that’s not for you then a car would be suggested. Otherwise a bicycle is an option. Overall, a countryside house along a lane with beautiful little church up the road is what you are booking. Maybe you will be lucky enough to meet Barry the Badger on your walk!

    Cara Lee2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful room up in the rafters of an old Kent cottage - it's a welcoming and clean space, full of entertaining and thoughtful touches. Carol is the perfect host, her breakfasts are great and she even gave me a couple of lifts to and from the station as I didn't have a car with me. When I arrived the weather was very warm, so Carol had provided an evaporation cooler which made sure I got a good night's sleep. The area is full of footpaths and beautiful scenery. A great getaway in the country (or in my case, a great base for a friend's wedding nearby!).

Appledore is a beautiful Kent village, near the border with East Sussex. Appledore has a pub, tea room, antique shop and a well-stocked village store. The medieval town of Rye and the pretty town of Tenterden are both a ten-minute drive away. Appledore sits on the edge of the hauntingly beautiful Romney Marsh. Plenty of cycle and walking routes can be found in the vicinity. The famous beach at Camber (Camber Sands) is a 20-minute drive. There is plenty to do with children in the area. The Rare Breeds Centre – a sweet farm with petting sessions, soft play and outdoor playgrounds – is a ten-minute drive. The Kent & East Sussex Railway operates steam trains from nearby Tenterden. Grove Farm Riding School is located in Iden, a 15-minute drive away. There are also several fabulous beaches and plenty of family-friendly restaurants in the area. There are leaflets and an information pack in the property and Amy is on hand to help with recommendations.
  • Loved everything about our stay at Amy’s place. The Outbuilding is one of the nicest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in. The design is amazing, loved the bath and the fireplace, plus it’s full of really thoughtful touches like milk in the kitchen when you arrive and dressing gowns hung up in the bedroom. Amy was super friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful - she’s thought of everything. We mainly used it as a base to go into Rye which is about a 10 minute drive. Would recommend The Standard pub for dinner and The Gallivant if you’re heading over to Camber Sands.

  • Amy's house is really charming and very well decorated. It is suitable for 4 or 5 people and is very comfortable, with the stove in the large living room. Lots of children's games and books. The terrace and the view give a very pleasant feeling of openness. Thanks Amy!

  • The Outbuilding at Appledore is great - a lovely, beautifully designed quiet space in a perfectly-located village with everything you might need (shop, pub serving food etc.). We had a really peaceful couple of nights celebrating New Year with the wood burner and plenty of bubble baths. We hope to return in the summer to enjoy the deck in warm weather and take in some of the amazing beaches.

    Felicity2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very comfortable and pleasant. I can't fault the accommodation at all. Check-in was made seamless by the host's excellent communication. The accommodation was clean, warm and had everything we needed. We felt very welcome and our whole family had a wonderful break. Thank you Amy and hope to be back one day!

  • The Outbuilding is even better in real life. Really nice stylish space with so many thoughtful touches. The fire created the perfect winter cosy retreat. Amy is a fabulous host and really made us feel welcome. We just wish we could’ve stayed longer!

A newly built guesthouse in the heart of the Kent countryside. You can expect to have your own spacious double room with an open plan kitchen and lounge, as well as your own bathroom with shower. The lounge looks out onto beautiful scenery which you can enjoy on your own patio and seating area. We are located close to many of Kent’s famous beaches including camber sands and have a local train station to access the main town; Ashford. Additionally there is car parking available for guests.
Guests may use the patio area and bbq to rear of let. Plenty of places to walk such as woods and military canal.
There are only 3 other detached houses located on the same stretch of road where the property is based which means it is very quiet.
  • It was a great stay at Jo’s house, very friendly couple and took nice care of us. They even picked us up and dropped us to train station. Belle is a lovely dog and we had fun playing with her. Nice amenities as well and a very nice location, with a very good pub nearby which serves nice lunch and ales. Thanks both!

  • This ttle gem of a place in Kentish village is a tranquil place for those who want to spend their time away from the city hustle and bustle. Very clean and tidy place adequate enough to spend a peaceful weekend . There are stunning views from the couch with horses gazing in the fields also the little four legged guest will warm your heart if you pet lovers like me. The owners stay next to you to help with anything but distant enough not to disturb you. Thanks Mark and Jo. (For providing the cable, apreciate your kind help)

  • This is a self contained neat and tidy new building adjacent to the owners. There is good parking and lovely views and patio. Breakfast is not included and there is no wifi although mobile phones do work. The owners are very friendly as is the dog and 2 cats.

    Patricia2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautiful private apartment in nice countryside. Very stylish and nicely equipped, everything new and perfect and clean. There's a small terrace overlooking fields, where you can sit outside with a drink or a morning coffee. It's in a separate building near the owner's house but very private. Plenty of parking. No wifi. We found it excellent for visiting Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings, Pevensey, Battle, Bodiam, Tenterden etc. There's a convenience store in the nearby village of Hamstreet, and a big Tesco a few miles up the road towards Ashford.

    David2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were with our 1 year old son here. For families, the house and the surroundings are ideal. It was nice to play with the dog and to pet the horses. The meadow behind the house is huge, to play more than enough space. The house has everything you need in the kitchen, in the bathroom and elsewhere (eg hair dryer and iron). We had a good time here and thank you for the warm care!

The size of the place is good, spotlessly clean and has all amenities you need, plus it’s not far from any restaurants/shopping places you need to get to. The private hot tub was an amazing bonus and the roof overlooking it kept us well protected from the storm. I’ll be recommending this to everyone and we will 100% be back!

Built originally for our family now living abroad - we love to share it with guests when the family are not with us. We consider the Shed is 'small but perfectly formed!' Everything is provided from bathroom goodies to kitchen stores (tea, coffee, sugar, flour, salt and pepper etc.) With shower room - cosy living room and private garden just for you, and views to die for across Romney Marsh, it's the perfect place to explore the many attractions on offer in Kent.
We are very rural and you would really need a car. There are masses of famous historical places within easy reach - Castles at Dover, Leeds, Walmer and Bodiam. Canterbury with its cathedral, the famous little churches of Romney Marsh, the artists of Rye, the beautiful villages of Kent with fabulous pubs! There is a Designer Outlet at Ashford, and we about 7 miles to the Eurotunnel and then 35mins by train to France. Kent is renowned for amazing gardens including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. And the fast train to London St Pancras takes just 37 mins for a day in the city! There are brilliant walks and we have the details. Painters love the light and the huge skies of the Marsh and cyclists rave about the area. We think you would have a great time on Romney Marsh!
  • What a gem of a find! Definitely like no shed I've ever seen before! With so many personal touches inside, amazing countryside views outside and warm hospitality from our hosts and their beautiful dogs. We would certainly recommend!

  • Lovely oasis away from the city — a really romantic getaway. I loved all the art in the shed!

    Simone2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Given the photos and description, you will go with high expectations... but it is even better than that! The flat is beautifully, thoughtfully and generously equipped. And the finishing touches make it even more like the kind of hospitality you would offer to your best friends. The location is great and the views across Romney Marsh are stunning.

    Sue2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent base for exploring this fascinating area. The Shed offers excellent accommodation and has stunning views from every window. Tina and Jeremy are wonderful hosts. Wish I'd brought our bikes as this is a great area for cycling. Recommended!

    Andy2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, spacious and private with friendly and helpful hosts and its own little seating-out garden; well positioned to drop down to explore from Hythe to extra-ordinary Dungeness, plus a little further for distinctive Rye and Winchelsea.

    Scott2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Shed is ideally located for discovering the Marsh and coastal Kent. It’s an amazing space, very well designed and equipped. The hosts Tina and Jeremy are very welcoming without being intrusive. There were nice touches such as cake and fruit on arrival as well as supplies of tea, coffee, cereals and porridge. I would have no hesitation in returning or in recommending the Shed to couples or solo travellers looking for a break in the area.

    Ben2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot sing the praises enough for this place. Tina makes for a lovely welcoming host and made me and wife feel so comfortable, the place itself is perfect as a base to explore Romney marsh and Kent from. It was clean, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We will be staying again!

There’s even a private garden at the back of the annexe to enjoy the country air. The Farrier Arms, built in 1606, which brews its own beer, is just a short walk away. • I stayed here for one night as I was attending a friend’s wedding in a nearby village. Peter was a great host, with a clean and tidy place, he even went the extra mile and offered to pick me up from the wedding.

  • Very nice cottage with a really warm feel and a great host.

    Trevor2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great Place, clean and the host is a real gentleman. He could not do enough to help and make me feel welcome. Very good.

    Thomas2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thorne Cottage is lovely - set back from the road with a pretty small knot garden in the front. Peter was very friendly and welcoming and as a single woman I did not feel awkward at all. The accommodation is just as described - the double bed was comfy with clean linen and there was a lockable door. The cottage is shared with Peter (apart from the bedrooms) and is pleasant and full of character with a large television and usual amenities. As one would expect in an old Kentish property, the staircase is steep and carpeted, so not appropriate for those who have a problem with mobility. I would not hesitate to recommend Peter as a Host and will be returning to Thorne Cottage.

    Mattijs2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jos's "old bakery" is beautiful and comfortably furnished, a truly great place to stay, especially for families from the city who are looking for a bit of rural tranquility. We arrived there after a terrible, long drive across southern England until the evening, but nevertheless Jo received us personally and very friendly. She even had an initial supply of milk, butter, and eggs for us in the fridge, so the next morning we could just have breakfast at the dining table, decorated with fresh flowers. Thanks, Jo! Then we went to explore our accommodation and let Jo show the huge, absolutely wonderful garden with terrace, flowers and herbs (much visited by bees an butterflies), fruit trees, barbecue, fireplace, small football field, and hammocks. We were absolutely thrilled with this place, it was certainly one of the nicest we have ever had on airbnb. So, apart from a few excursions into the area and a day in London, which is very easy to reach by train from Ashford International, we spent a lot of time "at home" (that's how it felt very fast), especially in the garden ... in the hammocks, because it was just so nice there, and re-charged our batteries ... Jo was always reachable and exceptionally helpful, but never intrusive, and we enjoyed our conversations with her. She is really a great host, where you just feel good. We would choose Jo's old bakery at any time, if we went again in the area, and can only recommend it! Thanks for everything, Jo!

    Cornelia2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Jo’s wonderful place. It is very quiet, at the end of a tiny road. However there is a lot to see and explore in the neighbourhood. We went to visit the cliffs, visited Hythe, Canterbury, Folkestone, Rye, Battle of Britain museum in Hawkinge. We walked around Newchurch and visited the church. In the morning and evenings we enjoyed the house and the beautiful garden. Jo let us have our privacy, but was available for questions or advice. We would like to come back!

We are close to the designer outlet centre and also Ashford international railway station. you can be in London or France in under an hour, we can provide transport on request. This is a great venue for fishing at an extra cost.
  • Just had a lovely weekend at The Firs Lodge. It was so relaxing and peaceful and my other half thoroughly enjoyed the fishing at the lake. Stuart and Margaret were very welcoming and were always on hand if we needed them. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

    Elise2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our short stay at the lodge. The setting was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. On arrival Stuart and his partner gave us such a warm welcome along with their resident ducks who were good fun to watch. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our night away. There were thoughtful touches like some fresh milk and cereal as well as some recommended places to eat locally. We would highly recommend staying here!

    Mel2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Firs is a place that you could escape from city life. It was a surprise to see that there are several families of wild duck residing in the Firs’s lake side. These ducks used to march in the grassland behind the lodge. Mr and Mrs Stuart are nice people, and our staying at the Firs is an unforgettable experience.

    Patrick2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable lodge in well-maintained grounds in a very quiet wooded area with several lakes you can walk around and fish. I stayed one night in the lodge having camped out with my brother and his family on other nights. Stuart and Margaret were great hosts, with time to chat, welcoming and attentive to our needs. The lodge has simple cooking facilities, which I didn’t need, but is well equipped and has a particularly spacious, clean bathroom area with shower and a comfortable spacious bedroom. There is virtually no light pollution which, as we were blessed with fine weather, led to fantastic viewing of the night sky. All-in-all, my stay at the lodge made for a relaxing break.

    Timothy2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The fact it's mentioned in pretty much every other review should really hit it home for you that Stuart & Margaret are phenomenal hosts! Super friendly, knowledgable & passionate about the local area, and more than happy to go out of their way to ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. The site itself is very pretty & picturesque, with a cute dawn chorus of quacks from the resident ducks. Beautiful views of the stars in the night sky, too. Cannot thank our hosts, or recommend the Firs to others, enough!

    Matthew2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts went above and beyond to make sure we got all we could out of our stay yer where so thoughtful and welcoming the phots really don’t do the property justice. Thank you again x

    Ashley2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We went for the fishing lake which was great, but the best part about the trip was Stuart and Margaret’s hospitality. As novice fisherman we were a little lost but they (very patiently) taught us the basics and got us on our feet. A great little trip away from city life. The Accomodation itself was small, simple and really clean- no complaints!

    Tsubomi2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a warm friendly welcome. Great value, very clean and beautiful quiet surroundings. Great nights sleep and cosy place to stay. Only thing I would change is the Combi oven and hob which I struggled to cook much on! Next time I'm gonna treat us to a take away! ;-) thank you to you both again, lovely to meet you. X

  • Highly recommended, what you see on the website is also reality and surprisingly more. Hostess Lesley provides a delicious healthy breakfast, to be put together on request. She also knows and is helpful in finding activities or places of interest in the area. Really great to be here.

Nikki's hosting and hospitality is 5* making our trip most remarkable. The room is furnished to a very high standard and is well equipped for those wanting more than a one night stay. We arrived and fell in love - Thank you for making our weekend truly special. Would I stay here again - Yes without reservation.
