Embrace the quirky, cosy interiors in this romantic getaway. Open the doors to the terrace, and let the sounds of nature waft through the lodge. Fire up the BBQ, enjoy a good meal and then spend the evening in the hot tub gazing up at the stars.
Located in one of Maidstone in Kent's oldest roads, neighbouring buildings used to provide accommodation to pilgrims on their travels to Canterbury in medieval times. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from it all and for those looking for something different, the quirky interior of the Lodge is an eclectic mix of vintage and modern. It offers a romantic hideaway, with exclusive use of the brand new hot tub jacuzzi directly outside your door, and a low height mezzanine sleeping area on a futon mattress, in the double height roof where you can star watch in bed, listening to the local owls. The fully equipped, open plan kitchen/lounge area is cosy in the winter with underfloor heating, and equally delightful in the summer when the bi-fold doors can be opened up to enjoy BBQ's on the deck. With Wifi access, Bose mini sound system, Nespresso coffee pod machine and a flat screen TV, you can also keep in touch with the outside world if you really want to. The Lodge is perfectly located for those who want a car free holiday in the corner of our 1.5 acre garden, about 60m from the main house. Please note that while the Lodge is completely private the hot tub area is not, as you are in the garden shared with our house. A short walk will take you to the ancient village green of Bearsted with its Butcher / Deli / Bakery and a choice of excellent restaurants. For those wishing to take the train, the village station provides services to the coast or to London, to give you transport choices. 5 minutes by car will get you to the award winning Leeds castle, while a 40-60 minutes drive will take you to the many beautiful historic towns of Kent including Tenterden, Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells, as well as the beautiful Kent coast line and the EuroTunnel. Perfectly located for weddings and celebrations at the award winning Orangery in Maidstone, why not make a holiday out of your stay? Subject to availability The Lodge can be booked in conjunction with it's sister property 'Knocklofty', a one minutes walk away and can accommodate up to 4 people.
Embrace country life in the medieval village of Bearsted in Kent—the Garden of England. Walk to the village green for great gastro pubs, a butcher, and a deli. For a proper hike, there's beautiful countryside with miles of scenic walks.

  • We had a lovely stay at this very stylish cottage in Bearsted. The house was easy to find and within walking distance of the village. It was thankfully very cosy, which was much appreciated as we visited it on a cold, windy and miserable weekend. The size and layout was perfect for us and our 2 children. The house was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub is a real bonus! Barbara was an excellent host - she was very responsive and sent a very detailed welcome email with lots of useful information in advance of our trip.

    Ella2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I had a lovely relaxing stay here. The place is cute and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed to do some cooking. The hot tub was the highlight!

    Shani2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend away. Although the weather was bad the hot tub was still available to use. All amenities were great and everything you needed was there.

    Elena 2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was just perfect

    Peter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I fell in love with this place based on the photos and it looked exactly the same in real life, which is always great to see. There were thoughtful touches added to make our stay special and the cottage was absolutely gorgeous both inside and out. The information provided on the local area was really helpful and Barbara & Mike were quick to respond to any questions we had. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

    Paul2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay at and great location we had a wonderful couple of nights there and the host were extremely helpful when needed. Would stay there again.

    CrazyJames2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home with lovely hosts! Barbara and Mike communicate very well and provide lovely little details such as a bottle of prosecco on arrival and a follow up message to make sure everything is okay on the first day of the stay. The home and hot tub are extremely well kept and warm and the area is very quaint and friendly. Lots of things to do a short drive away. There are a few pubs/restaurants within 5 minutes walk which are really nice to go to for dinner and a drinks. We are really looking forward to hopefully return again! Thanks for everything Rebecca

    Becca2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing cottage full of character which made my friend and I feel at home straightaway! It's cosy and warm, the kitchen utensils are amazing and the style was so unique. There were plenty of walks on our door step and we had dinner at the Oak on the Green which was only a few minutes away. I would highly recommend this place.

The barn, in the grounds of our 15th century house but nicely private, is decorated in comfortable, modern rustic style, with underfloor heating and a wood burner. Outside is a fire pit for toasting marshmallows and stargazing before climbing into the king-size bed, dressed with soft Egyptian cotton. There's a large walk-in rain shower and robes. There are books to read, DVDs to watch, board games to play. Tear yourself away to explore the stunning local countryside, gardens, vineyards and castles or to eat in great pubs and restaurants.
Our holiday let is set in the grounds of our 15th century house, yet it is not overlooked. It has recently been refurbished (March 2017) and we have tried to make it the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves. The large, light-filled, open plan living/kitchen/dining area has floor to ceiling bi-fold doors opening out onto its own garden. Sit outside - choose from the table and chairs or the big double sun lounger - and listen to the birdsong or go for a stroll in the meadow. By night you can enjoy a starry sky by the light of the fire pit, which also has a grill for BBQ - or marshmallow toasting! The decor inside is 'country cool' - luxuriously comfortable and with nods to the area's heritage as 'The Garden of England', including vintage apple crates used as kitchen shelves and a framed photo of workers in a local hop field in the 1940s. In fact our house next door was, until recently, the farmhouse for the surrounding hop farm which still operates in the traditional way - one of the last remaining in Kent! There's a bedroom with king sized bed and garden views. The bed linen is 600 thread count finest Egyptian cotton, the duvets and pillows goose down. There's a Moroccan style shower room. Things are kept cosy with underfloor heating and fluffy rugs, a woodburner, soft bathrobes and slippers. Board games, books and DVDs will keep you busy plus there's free WiFi and a large flatscreen TV with freeview. The kitchen has all the essential equipment - whether you want to cook up a feast or simply prepare snacks to sustain you in between visiting the many excellent restaurants in the area. We provide a welcome hamper including milk, bread, butter and eggs plus a bottle of local wine to kick off your stay. You will find olive oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs and spices, tea, coffee and sugar. There's washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, cloths and cleaning products and, in the bathroom, heavenly Aromatherapy Associates body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also provide logs for the woodburner and for the firepit. End of stay cleaning is included. John is a rehabilitation specialist and also teaches Nordic Walking and Pilates. So let us know when you are booking if you are interested in knowing more. We can offer private 'Learn to Nordic Walk' stays - a lovely safe way to exercise, to discover the local countryside and learn a skill that you can use when you return home - visit www.nordicwalkingkent.co.uk if you'd like to read about this increasingly popular activity. Likewise, if you have a niggling problem with your back, knee, shoulder...whatever!...speak to us about having private rehabilitation or remedial massage in the studio, which is right next to the holiday let. One-to-one and two-to-one Pilates can also be taught here. Alternatively, book a whole weekend or week long 'overhaul', with several hours of mixed exercise and advice on diet and lifestyle. It's all possible...Let us know what you want and we can tailor something to fit. ...
    * Famous gardens at Sissinghurst, Great Dixter and more * Tours and tastings of award-winning white and sparkling wines at nearby vineyards - like Chapel Down, Gusboune Estate, Hush Heath and Oxney Estate * Castles at Leeds and Bodiam and National Trust Houses including Smallhythe Place, Bateman's, Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle *Pretty local medieval villages plus towns of interest, including ancient Rye and Hastings * Sandy beaches at Camber and watersports at Lydd *Excellent eating out

  • Little Bugglesden was lovely, perfect for a weekend away in the country. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walks and lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. Emma and John were also lovely, very helpful and accommodating. The log burner fire was an added bonus.

  • We stayed for 4 nights and could easily have stayed on longer. Peaceful little cottage and a welcome change from the city. The place is styled beautifully and the wood burner was wonderful. Emma couldn’t have been more helpful. We hope to return again in future.

  • A lovely place to get away for a break. Quiet, peaceful and just right for two people to enjoy some down time. Plenty to do nearby and very helpful host 👌

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Little Bugglesden is a beautiful place for a cosy getaway. It's off the main road and outside of Tenterden so is gloriously peaceful, and after being warmly greeted by John on our first night we had a lovely weekend of going for walks, enjoying local food (The Three Chimneys was our favourite) and curling up on the sofa in front of the fire. The place is spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, and we would love to go back one day!

A top-notch conversion of a small flint and brick cart shed alongside a beautifully restored 300-yearold oak barn. It feels private too, with its own little courtyard garden, colourful borders, terracotta pots, teak table and chairs – catch the morning rays with an al fresco breakfast. Inside all is fresh, bright, light and comfortable. Beautiful oak floors are toasty underfoot, there are chunky beams, thick fabrics, white sofas, French doors out the courtyard and heaps of books. The bedroom makes great use of the space with its fine painted bed, so settle down with best linen, feather and down duvets, views across the garden, and a fully-tiled walk-in shower that’s state of the art. A generous welcome basket includes a bottle of wine should you be staying the week, the flat-screen TV comes with oodles of DVDs, there’s a fully equipped kitchen in one corner and kind owners next door to provide continental breakfast or evening meals should you want them; lovers will take root. There’s walking through woods and paths for the more adventurous, and Canterbury Faversham and Whitstable are near. Nearby Ashford has high speed train link to london only 38 miutes away. Charming.
We are located in a listed "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" surrounded by fields and woods...mainly sweet Chestnut. There are plenty of good walks in the area including the famous "Pilgrims Way". Just wandering around the local country lanes with hedgerow wildlife, farms and country pubs is highly recommended. This is true "Darling Buds of May" country.
  • Very kind and understanding folk. Would stay again!

  • Lovely bijou period cottage, well appointed and cosy, pefect for a short getaway.

  • Scott and Lizzie's place was absolutely lovely. Sparkling clean and high spec furnishings, really peaceful and private. In saying that I always felt that the host was very approachable and on hand to help with any questions or requests. Homemade biscuits and jam were a lovely touch and the eggs were brilliant, super fresh. The property was in easy location for long walks in Kings Wood and accessible for Canterbury and the surrounding areas. Really fantastic and thank you so much for letting us lie in after sampling too much of the Kentish wine!

    Lauren2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Cart Shed is a wonderful little bolthole in a beautiful setting. Perfectly equipped, cosy, clean - it had everything you could need. Scott and Lizzie were hospitable and welcoming hosts - I'll definitely be back!

  • Just got back from spending New Year at Scott and Lizzie’s Cart Shed. Cannot rate it highly enough, we had a fantastic time. All the extra touches (bread, milk, homemade jams, homemade cakes) made it even more special!

    Will2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely couple & place to stay. Fresh bread, eggs and homemade jam were waiting for our family on arrival. Amazing hospitality, thank you.

Canterbury is only a 15 minute car ride. Whitstable is a 20 minute car ride. All you need for a great getaway.
  • The house is so beautiful and spacious, perfect for our work weekend away. The hosts were super helpful at answering all my questions in the lead up to our stay. We had a lovely walk to the pub on Saturday afternoon and all 15 of us had a great time, so thank you Ruth & Francesco!

    Frances2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place is lovely, nice interiors and very cool for bigger groups as the kitchen and living room areas are all connected and the jacuzzi is right outside. The big fireplace is cozy and amazing to sit around and the pool table keeps the group entertained. We brought many boardgames and a playstation so had plenty of entertainment and didn’t need to leave the house. We had a great time at Ruth’s place. Just be aware that it’s not very handy to stay with many couples as there are only 2 private double bedrooms. An additional room can be used as a couples room when pushing the single beds together and if you are only 14 you can use the family room as a couples room and leave the two beds upstairs unused. So then you can fit 4 couples in but if you’re 16 or more with more than 3 couples wanting a private room it might be a bit tricky.

    Ellie2020-01-13T00:00:00Z

    Will2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this property for a friends get together in February. The property exceeded our expectations, it was beautifully laid out, stunning surroundings and a great space. There were 16 of us, every room having it’s own bathroom was a great bonus. The communal spaces are perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. Natalia was really friendly and helpful at check in and Harriet super speedy at replying to any questions prior to arrival. We had the best weekend there! We also went and did a tour at Anno Distillery only 20 mins which was amazing and fun thing to do as a group.

    Maria2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach house is absolutely beautiful. We hired it for a weekend for my husbands 40th and it was so great to have each room en-suite - gave everyone their space while still being a great house for a group. The photos do t do justice to the communal spaces which are just as great as the bedrooms. We took Harriets advice and booked Mark to cater our Saturday night dinner and the food and service was brilliant. Book you won’t be disappointed!

    Rebecca2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hosts and great communication. Both the inside & outside of the property look great too.

    Leon2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Faultless. This house is perfect. We were a party of 16 and it was so nice that each couple had their own double room with en-suite. It is immaculate. The country walks directly from the house (especially to the castle) are stunning and the local pubs are great. We were greeted by the amazing Natalia on arrival and nothing was too much trouble. Do book - you won’t be disappointed.

    Harriet2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The photos don’t do it justice! Every room is beautiful and so stylish, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped and the walk to Scotney Castle / pubs is literally on the doorstep. The perfect country getaway. Thoroughly recommend.

    Danielle2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the Coach House. Would love to go back. Beautiful setting and very high standard all over - including the bathrooms that are not pictured in the listing. Easily accommodated all 12 of us.

Bedroom 2 also has a pull-out mattress to accommodate a 7th person / child. It is only made up on request [small additional fee] - The Cottage is generally best suited to 6 people. Plantagenet Cottage dates back to the 16th Century and local legend says it was built by the 'illegitimate' son of King Richard the 3rd [the last Plantagenet King of England; he's the one they found under the car park in Leicester more recently]. We call one of the bedrooms "Richard's Room" [which has a Kingsize bed in it]. There are some books and an old transcript describing the History at the cottage - it's a great story ! The tomb of our Richard [the natural Plantagenet heir to the throne of England] still lies in the ruins of nearby St Mary's church of Eastwell which makes for a nice walk.
The cottage is tucked away in a very unique and secluded spot, so offers privacy but is still within easy reach of local amenities. It is nestled on the edge of a small village called Boughton Aluph which surrounds a central cricket green and traditional Kentish pub which is a short stroll away. Our property overlooks the picturesque sheep filled grounds of the Eastwell Manor Estate & Hotel which can be seen in the distance [which itself boasts fine dining, a spa, golf course, indoor pool and a huge lake]. Nearby is the practical thriving town of Ashford, and the wonderful historic city of Canterbury, the nature filled South Downs and many a traditional Kentish country pub and an abundance of cycling trails at nearby Kingswood and many stunning walks. The seaside towns of Whitstable, Rye, Herne Bay and the sandy beaches at Camber are all near enough for day trips, as is central London.
  • Third trip to Tim and Maïté’s amazing getaway and another great stay! I’m sure we’ll be back soon for trip #4!

  • This place is a little bit of heaven. It’s within its own beautiful grounds and surrounded by beautiful Countryside around that. It’s secluded but not cut off. Short car journeys to lots of other places of interest but better still, lots of walks on your doorstep, so you can abandon your car and stay rural! Very well equipped kitchen and sundries, with a little welcome pack. Bedrooms and beds themselves, a lovely size, all clean and fresh with beautiful outlook onto surrounding garden.

    Vince2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place Fantastic countryside! Very kid and dog friendly,we will definitely come back!

    Dave2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled from London for a quiet break for a 40th chilled break. This place is ideal if you just want to fully relax and try local food. Ive never lit a log fire in my life but Tim video called and talked me through it and I can now say im a pro ;-) We would definitely come back. Maybe for a longer stay and take advantage of the spa which is on the doorstep and do some shopping. Thanks guys. Oh and the beds are absolutely lush. Everyone slept well. I think the kids would love this. Perfect place for summer or winter breaks

  • We have a lovely stay at Plantagenet Cottage. Would recommend!

  • We all (6 of us) had such a lovely weekend away in the cottage. The garden is much larger than expected which was a nice surprise! Can't recommend this place enough to those looking for a short relaxing break. Tim and Maite provided so much useful information as well! One of my favourite Air BnBs I've stayed at!

    Jeremy2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the property exceeded expectation. We loved spending time by the pool and had a fun time exploring the grounds. The house was perfectly equipped for a birthday weekend, with great cooking facilities like the BBQ. The house was clean and really cosy, but still had plenty of space to fit all 7 of us. Tim and Maite kept in contact before, during and after the stay and I couldn't ask for nicer hosts who were both accommodating and understanding.

    Holly2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to relax for a few days we enjoyed our second visit this year and we be back next year , so peaceful with our dogs , so clean and comfortable. Lovely surroundings.

  • My husband and I stayed at Sarah and John's place for 9 nights. The house itself is stylish and clean. There is a lovely big garden, shared sitting area and kitchen. Guests have their own bathroom. Everything is easy to use and access. We had everything we needed and we were also given a few things for breakfast which was really nice. The location is very good as well. It's only an 8-10 minutes walk into town to shops and restaurants. About 8-10 minutes walk to Maidstone East Station which gets you to London Victoria station in an hour. Maidstone Barracks is about 12-15 minutes walk away. Library about 10 minutes walk away. There is a corner shop at the top of the road. Very convenient. Plenty of good restaurants in town and some nice pubs around the area. Sarah and John are both lovely and welcoming people. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Sarah's place is beautiful and full of character. Our room was spacious and Sarah left us breakfast for both nights' stay. The area is quiet and we slept for ages uninterrupted! The home is walking distance from town with plenty to see and do! Sarah is very knowledgeable about the area and did everything to make sure we were happy and comfortable. We would definitely stay again, a home from home :)

For something a little bit different...a spacious, bright room with a low Japanese style super king bed and modern en-suite bathroom with rainfall shower. In a stylish, modern, peaceful home with an artistic twist. Teas, coffees, breakfast cereal, luxury bedding and gorgeous toiletries provided. Just minutes from the historic market town of Rochester, Chatham dockyard, and bustling Maidstone, this also makes the perfect base for trips to London and the rest of Kent. Warm, friendly, helpful host.
The room and en-suite are in a good sized town house on an award winning development on the outskirts of Chatham and Rochester. The house is full of interesting artwork, has modern, fitted appliances and a few touches of cosy luxury - throws and cushions etc, to make you feel completely at home. The garden is being gradually turned into a beautiful courtyard, and I can't offer any outdoor space at the moment (though from next year will be able to). The development has lots of green space, and there are fields and paths about 150m away. I have a reasonably sized television, which is hooked up to a Chromecast for Netflix streaming etc and with a good selection of DVDs. However I'm not much of a TV watcher, and it's not HD! You're welcome to browse my book collection, and I also have a few board games.
The house is perfectly located for: - Rochester airfield and BAE Systems, for those travelling for work or pleasure - we are directly opposite! - Medway: We are 6 minutes' drive from the beautiful historic market town of Rochester, 8 minutes' drive from Chatham dockyard, and 15 minutes from bustling Maidstone - Rest of Kent: we are conveniently located just a 5 minute drive away from the M2 motorway. Why not visit the stunning villages of Aylesbury and West Malling? (Both 15 minutes). Or build in a day trip to beautiful Canterbury (35 minutes), have dinner by the sea in pretty Whitstable (40 minutes) or Seasalter (35 minutes), or browse the market stalls and listen to live music in Faversham (30 minutes)?Leeds Castle is also 15 minutes away for a brilliant day trip. If you're willing to travel a little further afield, then Royal Tunbridge Wells, Bewl Water nature reserve, Dover Castle, and the Turner Contemporary gallery at Margate, can all be reached within an hour's drive. - London: if you want to build a day or two in London into your trip, while basing yourself in Medway, then we are perfectly located (see 'getting around'). There are some lovely cafes and restaurants nearby, and I would be happy to provide recommendations. There are also supermarkets if you want to buy/make your own food.
  • Hannah went to great lengths to make us comfortable and provide information about the community. The location worked well for us.

    Mark2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hannahs home is absolutely beautiful. I’ve given it 5 stars as it’s a real home from home, and finished to a high standard. The bedroom is huge with a fantastic on suite shower room & the bed is so comfortable, you just don’t want to get out of it in the morning. Having a free roam of the house to sit and watch tv in the lounge to using the modern kitchen with all the mod cons available to use. The whole house is a lovely, warm, cozy and friendly place to stay. I actually looked forward to coming home at the end of the day because it really did feel like home. Also the house has its very own off road car parking, which is a big plus, as most places don’t offer any parking at all. Thanks Hannah for everything 👍🏻

    Peter2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A very welcoming hostess and home, lovely comfortable and spacious room. Definitely recommend if staying in the Chatham area.

    Mario2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and perfect host! No complaints at all!

    Craig2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is great but best of all is the host, Hannah. To say that she did everything she could to make our stay wonderful is putting it mildly. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her. I would recommend staying at Hanna's place to anyone and everyone!

    Colin2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah was a great host and a pleasure to talk to. The small touches everywhere were thoughtful and made our stay a very special one. The bed is very comfortable, so we slept soundly. Every element is clean and considered. We felt relaxed and welcomed, we’d definitely stay again!

    Lisa2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah’s the best! A beautiful home, a nice big bedroom, and a great en-suite bathroom with all the amenities of a hotel room. Kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher and washing machine. There was space set aside for me in the fridge/freezer and kitchen cupboard. Convenient to catch the bus to Chatham station for those that want to commute into London, with easy connections to Kings Cross, Victoria and London Bridge. Can’t wait to stay at Hannah’s again.

    Kevin2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first foray into airbnb, so not quite sure what to expect- Hannah was a fabulous host - welcoming and friendly, cuppa offered on arrival was much appreciated. Room is lovely, top quality furnishings, comfy bed with good linen. Ensuite with loads of extras provided. Hannah really has thought of everything.

  • Sonnah and her family are absolutely lovely :) The house is warm and comfortable and my Nonna and I were encouraged to enjoy all the amenities as we wished. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area!

    Gloria2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • I did not realise that I was Sonnah very first guest. But I found her very friendly 😎she checked me in and showed me around her property. There was plenty of on road parking although it’s a bit of a premium with all the other properties but she has an ace up her sleeve she has a off road drive at the rear of her house. She also offers breakfast albeit cereals and toast tea and coffee. And the use of the kitchen if I decided to cook. I had the sole use of a bathroom as she has on suite in her bedroom. She is a very bubbly lady who enjoys company so sitting chatting and watching her TV in her spacious lounge. I would recommend Sonnah to any traveler visiting Maidenhead or the surrounding area. Thank you Sonnah. ❤️

I have been an Airbnb Superhost for the past three years and recently moved to another property 4 miles away. I have a double room to rent which would suit a professional person visiting Maidstone on business, or on holiday. My property is close to bus stop and 15 minutes walk to the nearest train station (Bearsted) I have a teenage son living with me and also have two dogs. There is a supermarket 10 minutes walk from my house and local pubs are close buy.

Bath with shower over. Toiletries provided. TV with DVD slot. Free Wifi. TV and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was delicious - fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt, fresh orange juice, yoghurt, croissants, and a selection of teas - perfect. I was made to feel welcome from the outset by her lovely family and I shall return. Thanks Jane and co. Ann
