South Lakeland Leisure Village is a wonderful 5 star rated holiday park on the edge of the Beautiful Lake District. This 4 bedroom lodge is wonderfully situated for couples and for family holidays. The lodge is situated on the side of the lake with a decking area, with a fantastic sunken hot tub. The hot tub belongs exclusively to the lodge and is not shared. There is Wi-Fi, of around 3-5Mb included free of charge. The site has a Gym and a family friendly pool, for an additional charge.
There are 4 bedrooms. 1 is a 5' queen bed, 1 is a 4'6" double and there are 2 rooms, both with 2 single beds in them. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room with a toilet, shower and sink.
The lodge is only 30 minutes from Lake Windermere and the whole of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within driving distance.
  • Lovely place! Had a great weekend in the lodge. And the hot tub was a fab addition! :) Kev was super helpful and sent all the info and instructions the morning I checked in. The park was lovely too. It was very peaceful and the lodge had great views of the lake. The pub and restaurant was fab, with nice food and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this listing and host!

Cottage in the Southern Lake District. Also within reach of Lancashire, the Kent Estuaryand Dales. 8km from Kendal-walking, dining out and culture! You’ll love my place because of the beautiful setting, the cosy cottage, canal walks and beautiful sunsets over the bay. • What can I say.. We had a brilliant stay at Rachel’s. The house is in a beautiful location with rolling Cumbrian countryside and ideal for getting to the lakes and dales. The house has a really homely feel and because Rachel was out a lot we often had the house to ourselves. Rachel was very kind and advised us on some good places to visit/walk. Excellent value for money and we would definitely rebook.

Semi-detached house built 2008 in the pretty Cumbrian village of Holme. 3 bedrooms, sleeps 5. Great for the Lake District, but also for the Yorkshire Dales, and very local to Arnside & Silverdale AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) & Leighton Moss RSPB bird reserve.
You will be on your own in our house, which is our second home. We bought in this location because not only is it handy for the Lake District and other beauty spots, it's also very easy to get to, with quick access to and from the M6. There is a bus from the village into the Lake District, but as you need to bring your own bed linen and towels (please see 'Other Things to Note' below!), a car is fairly essential.
30 minutes by car to Windermere, a few minutes more to other South Lakes areas like Coniston. Keswick in the northern Lake District takes longer, but the drive is beautiful and part of the day out. Our village of Holme has a great village pub, canal walks with families of swans, a children's playground and our local mountain Farleton Fell. A quick stroll up there gives lovely views of the bigger fells to the North, and Morecambe Bay!
  • STOP! Do not look ANYWHERE else. Christina is a fabulous host. Clear communication is one thing, but warmth and interest and welcomes galore is another. This is not an Air B N B - this is simply a home away from home that if you choose you will feel honoured to treat like your home too.

    Brett2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a few nights at the end of December. Christina’s place is nice and cosy in a quiet neighbourhood. Leading up to and during our stay we had excellent communication with Christina. Would recommend and would stay again. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

    James2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect trip as always and a truly perfect place to stay - why bother looking elsewhere.

    Brett2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • A traveler can expect a clean, well organized, & comfortable home with ample space with all amenities. It is located in a beautiful area, consisting of a village shop, ( always a convenient place to have close by ) & a wonderful pub with great food. There is also a bus route, which is also a convenience if you don’t want to drive into places like Kendal or Lancaster. My stay was a pleasant experience, & the host was very helpful & kind.

    Susan2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. This is a nice gateway area to the Lakes and a short drive to popular tourist spots. The house was clean and tidy with good facilities and lots of space for our family of 5. Would highly recommend.

    James2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • For us Christina was super easy to work with. Especially appreciated the communication with WhatsApp (easy and quick). Her responses were quick and helpful The location was perfect for us, close to everything we wanted to see and do. The local pub and shop were handy and everyone was friendly.

    Mari2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Holme in what is a lovely, quiet and friendly village. The house is just as described, is very comfortable and ideal for exploring the Lake District. The house has everything you could need for meals in, the beds and sofa are very comfortable and the shower hot and powerful after a day on the Fells. Christina has kindly left guidebooks and maps to help with planning visits and days out. There is so much to see and do and we will have to go back. Christina was very attentive and keen to make sure all was well - which of course it was! We can highly recommend this property and host. Our Spaniels enjoyed their holiday and are currently sleeping off their exertions. We can highly recommend the local walks along the canal and a climb up the local Farleton/Holme Park Fell. A rare and spectacular Limestone pavement.

Rock Cottage is a bijou detached two bedroom character cottage nestled in beautiful woodland, on the edge of the peaceful Kent Estuary village of Storth. Found in the Arnside Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty in South Lakeland. Immerse yourself in the beautiful woodlands or within a mile you can stroll to the coast. For excellent walking from the doorstep, cosy evenings in front of the fire, and within a stagger of a great pub. Lake District attractions are only 30 minutes away.
Guests can enjoy the privacy and relaxation that comes with staying in our little chocolate box country cottage. The perfect romantic retreat or a base for exploring the beautiful outdoors, Rock Cottage is full of character, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine in the private natural garden, or in front of the wood burning stove, at the end of your day. There are no street lights or traffic noise to keep you awake at night, but you will probably hear a few owl hoots! The king size bed has a super comfortable mattress, so if you plan to make an early start you may want to set an alarm. Rock Cottage is situated in the edge of woodland just outside the village of Storth. Both the beautiful coast and a great pub, The Ship Inn, are Less than half a mile away from the doorstep. The small village of Storth is situated on the tidal estuary of the River Kent and within the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Outstanding Beauty on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The local area is a haven for wildlife, the National Trust stating “the mix of wildlife that you can see in Arnside and Silverdale is like no other place in the country”. The combination of different habitats; the coastal climate, woodland, limestone pavement and grassland attract many species of birds and butterflies that would not normally be seen in the same region. The area is known for its wildflowers too. There are many beautiful walks nearby suitable for those who just like a stroll to those who like to be out for hours. Beetham Fairy steps is a lovely walk from the cottage, remember to make your wish whilst there. Or follow the beautiful coastline to Arnside and savour a delicious treat from The Old Bakehouse. Arnside Knott with its stunning views across Morecombe bay with the lake district mountains behind has been attracting visitors for over 100 years. In this designated area of natural beauty there is always something to marvel at in nature. All this and within a 30 minute drive you can be exploring lake Windermere. Of course, with the quietness of the cottage, you may just decide to curl up with a great book. The choice is yours. Guest access Guests have the whole cottage to themselves. That includes the kitchen, open plan lounge dining area, two bedrooms, family bathroom, nature garden and parking. Other things to note The master bedroom is accessible via the bunk bedroom. We therefore recommend the cottage for couples and families with children who this arrangement suits. Please use the cottage like your home. Well behaved dogs accepted for a fee with the owner’s approval.
Walks are available straight from the front door. Nesteled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty let yourself get back to nature with walks or biking straight from the cottage, or the Lakes. With Windemere just 25 minutes away it is a great place to explore the Lake district as well as Silverside and Arnside's AONB. Cumbria, England, United Kingdom Guests come to Rock Cottage to experience the beautiful outdoors. Forest and coastal walks in an Area of Outstanding Beauty with limestone pavements and rare wildlife from the doorstep, the pretty village of Arnside with possibly the best sunsets in the world just a walk or short drive away, and the main attractions of the Lake District within a thirty minute drive. You don’t need to leave the cottage to see the huge range of birdlife in the garden and surrounding woodland, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot deer browsing in the woods too. For even more wildlife, Leighton Moss RSPB wildlife reserve is very close by. There’s a great dog-friendly pub on the coast just a few minutes stroll from the cottage, and a great choice of other pubs and eateries within easy reach, most of which are also dog friendly. For practical purposes, a supermarket, petrol, and choice of take aways in the small town of Milnthorpe just ten minutes from the cottage.

  • We had a lovely few days at the Potting Shed - such a lovely, well equipped hideaway. It was just what we needed and there were lots of suggestions for local walks and pubs around the area. Derek was very accommodating and the hamper of treats was a great addition. Thank you

  • The Potting Shed is a wonderful place to stay based just outside of the Lake District (about a 15 minute drive to Lake Windermere). It’s set on a farm, but is really modern and has everything you need to make home cooked meals. The bed is really comfortable, as is the couch and the shower is amazing. We were forced to remain indoors all weekend due to the weather, but that wasn’t a problem at all, as it’s a really nice place to stay. Would highly recommend this property.

  • We stayed at the pod for a one night stop-over en route to Scotland from Dorset. It was ideally placed, and fortunately it didn’t matter what time we turned up, as we arrived relatively late in the evening. The pod was as photographed, small, simple, with good amenities. The under-floor heating was wonderful, and the shower was great.

  • Absolutely outstanding host, and the cosy pod is very good, couldn't of asked for more, 100% going back soon

    David2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, tidy and cute small space to crash if exploring the lovely surroundings. Lots to do and the hosts are really friendly! They offered to show us to the pod and then left us to it but responded quickly to questions etc. It was very cosy, the heated floors were a god send! We were here during a windy and rainy storm in the UK and felt very cosy and safe listening to the rain on the roof...lush! The bed was super comfy as well!

    Robyn2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place for a weekend away. The pod was lovely and cosy, thanks for a great stay!

Set in a small peaceful village by the Kent Estuary. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside which leads through woodland up to Arnside Knott. You can walk for miles along the coastline. The view across the bay towards Grange-o-Sands and the mountains of the Lake District is stunning! I am a qualified Mountain Leader & can guide you on a personalised walk in the Lake District. Please note that my dog Darcy also lives here. She is happy to share her home with your dog.
House in the heart of the village. 10 minute walk down to the promenade.
  • Just left after a very relaxing 3 nights stay. Paula and Paul were very chilled. They were amazing with my dog and he got on great with Darcy. I would recommend here for anyone but particularly for dog owners and people from overseas. It reminds me more of a homestay than a B&B and you could practice English with owners and they have a wealth of knowledge about the area, which is beautiful.

    Paul2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • Second time visiting Alison and Victor, Family loved it, I enjoyed it as much as the first time. Huge thanks for a great time :)

    Andrey2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived later than planned so it was dark when we arrived and we weren’t sure which way to go so called Victor . Alison came and showed us around. The place was nice, clean and cosy. The supermarkets were 10-15 min drive we visited the Lakes during our stay (20 min drive).. There was a cooker, fridge, microwave and everything needed to cook for 5 people . There was also tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits as well as information about the local activities left for us in the kitchen table. Very happy with the service, facilities and I would highly recommend.

    Valbona2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little place to stay! Would definitely recommend. Can’t wait to book again!

    Leanna2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning location, a cosy pod in the great outdoors. Brilliant layout and everything you need for a glamping experience. Would thoroughly recommend for families and those looking for something a bit different.

    Jemma2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing host, amazing location. One of the best places we have stayed at.

    Maral2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were a party of 6 lasses (age 30-40) looking for local walks followed by drinks with food..... and We found this perfect place 💕 Stayed two nights. The pod was warm and cosy when we arrived. Check in was simple. We had three car parking spaces so we could quickly unload our gear. The pod was clean and welcoming with everything we needed. We soon had the kettle on enjoying complimentary biscuits, tea and coffee. The guest book gave helpful suggestions for things to do and places to go, whatever your preference: Church, walks, pubs, pod, heritage sites, shops-I could go on. There are cooking facilities and a microwave, a good fridge with small freezer section and full sink and drainer. Everything was clean, you can see the place is well cared for. We opted for the local pub which did excellent quality food, including vegetarian. We retired for the evening and took advantage of the great heating system, cranking it up so we were lovely and warm. The double glazed windows kept the wind out. There was a double bed, futon couch which turned into a double bed and then two singles. Linen was fresh and quilts were new. We enjoyed a walk the following day. There are national trust walking routes, short and long. The local area is peaceful with awesome views. We noticed other people cycling and running in the area and the locals were friendly so no fear of getting lost without directions. Back in the pod, we had a large 6 seater dining table to use. There were plenty plates and bowls with cutlery. The bathroom was clean and equipped with fresh towels, soap and loo rolls. We really enjoyed the lovely hot shower. We all had good phone signal and when I needed a quick call to the host, they answered the phone straight away. He was very helpful and friendly. We took a taxi to Kendal which was £14 but worth it so we had the freedom of going for drinks after shopping. Check out was an easy as check in. The only bad bit was that we wished we’d booked for longer. We had such fun and it was perfect. Thanks for having us 👌

    Catherine2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely experience staying in our own log cabin in the woods. My daughter and her friends loved their sleepover. We loved exploring the surrounding countryside and found a lovely pub for a drink. Alison and Victor offered to light us a fire in the fire pit which would have been great but unfortunately it was raining and very windy! The cabin was really warm and cosy with everything we needed. There is no TV or WIFI, which I think is a good thing and not a complaint, but if going with young children, just be prepared with some board games or similar to keep them entertained or download some programmes if they need to watch something before bed. We hope to return, perhaps in the summer so we can enjoy the fire pit! Thank you

    Kirsty2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stay for 6 adults, there was enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably. The pod was spotless and well equipped. Would definitely recommend this stay to a friend or anyone who’s looking for a night or two away to relax.

Witherslack is a quiet rural farming village. It is a popular base for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It is about a 15 minute walk to our local pub the Derby Arms which serves excellent meals and has a wide choice of beers. If you wish to travel a little further, there are a variety of pubs which serve good food, and at least five of them only take between 7 & 10 minutes by car and they are all definitely worth a visit. Well known Whitbarrow Scar is the backdrop to Landour and is just 10 minutes walk away. The scar is designated a biological site of special interest and a ' national nature reserve' due to its supporting some of the best European examples of natural limestone habitats. It also features in 'The Outlying Fells of Lakeland' by Alfred Wainwright. He describes it as "the most beautiful walk in this book, beautiful it is every stage of the way.... all is fair to the eye on Whitbarrow". There are many other public footpaths starting in Witherslack, two of which start within 50 yards of this property. One of these takes you up Yewbarrow Fell and the other towards Beck Head and Whitbarrow Scar. If you wish to venture further afield Lake Windermere is only a twenty minute drive away or, for the more energetic, it's about a two hour walk across the fells. The popular village of Cartmel is also about a twenty minute drive away and is well known for its 12th century medieval Priory, the racecourse and its culinary delights i.e. the L'Enclume restaurant which was hailed best in the U.K. by the 2014 Good Food Guide Other places nearby to visit are Levens Hall renowned for its topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall, Fell Foot on Lake Windermere and Grange-over-Sands where you can catch a train over the viaduct across Morecambe Bay to Arnside. For those that enjoy shopping the popular market town of Kendal is twenty minutes away. Then there is all of the Lake District within your reach by car or, if you enjoy pedalling up hills, by bike!
  • Lovely accomodation with all the facilities you required. The location is also perdect. Will certainly be returning in the near future

It is a short 20 minute drive away from many villages, such as Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere and Cartmel Fell, so there is plenty to do and see. Would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting The Lakes.

  • We went here as a couple for my 30th birthday, we had an amazing time, so relaxing, very close to things to do but we chose to make the most of the lodge, hot tub and on site bar, although we did pop into the nearby town of kirkby lonsdale which is great, lots of independent shops. We loved this place and although we stayed during a storm it still didnt ruin the weekend as the hot tob is undercover which is a great idea, everything was perfect and clean and were hoping to come back with friends in the summer. Thanks sheryl for making it perfect!

  • Just the perfect place for a relaxing couples stay. Really smooth check-in/out, would recommend to anyone!

    Jonathan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Poets corner is a lovely place to switch off from your ordinary hustle and bustle of busy life, clean, cosy little place with the hot tub an added bonus. We will be back!!!

    Karl2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • From the second we arrived the place was immaculately clean, opening the fridge we were greeted to a bottle of wine, milk and fresh orange juice allowing us to start relaxing straight away rather than wait for our own wine to chill etc. Each room was spotless, there is plenty of room for 4 people and really easy access to the hot tub. It is near to a side road however the banking is high enough that traffic noise is minimal. A quiet location which also has access to a nice BBQ and picnic area close to the hot tub. Couldn't fault the place, will definitely be returning.

    Richard2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Poets corner was better than expected, it had everything we needed and more. The hot tub was gorgeous and the lodge was very spacious. We will definitely be returning!

    Lucy2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just beautiful! The perfect little getaway for us. We had fun playing the board games, relaxing in the hot tub and treating ourselves to watching a little Netflix with a coffee in bed. Sparkling clean and excellent communication before arrival. We used the swimming pool and were happy to see a couple of vegan options in the bar/restaurant at the complex- although they didn't have any alternative milks, to cows milk, which I thought was a little odd. Thank you so much, we will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

  • Absolutely lovely! Would love to go back, very cute place

  • Both my Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The space had everything you needed to make you feel relaxed. One thing I would say is, if there was a little WiFi it would go a long way! But also great to be able to switch off from the outside world. Definitely will be coming back (#PostPandemicTrip).

    Ella2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing space. Stunning views, perfect location and highly unique. The pod is unbelievably cosy and everything feels brand new and sparklingly clean. Alison and Victor are brilliant and attentive hosts, and have created a beautiful space on the edge of the Lakes. We can't wait to return.

  • This really was a little haven. The cabin was cosy, well equipped and peaceful, it was a perfect way to break up the drive from Dorset to Glasgow and back. It has everything you would need, a very comfortable bed, fantastic shower and great views. The advice on places to visit was really helpful too, I recommend eating at the Strickland Arms - the fish and chips was excellent and the pub had a lovely friendly atmosphere. All in all a great little stay. Would love to come back and explore the area some more.

    Flora2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is an outstanding and unique place to stay, Victor and Alison have thought of all the little details to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend staying here and I am certain I will stay again!

The house was very warm and the bed extremely comfortable, which were both very welcome after walking in February rain. We were well looked after but had the level of privacy we would have wanted.

  • A great mini getaway! Pauline and her husband were really hospitable and helpful; offering best places to visit, explore and eat. It was lovely to chat with them but also still felt I had my own space, even though I was in their home. They struck a great balance of being helpful and leaving me to it. I loved the place. It was clean and cosy and just a really sweet place. The check in and check out was seamless and I felt welcomed and welcomed to return also. I recommend this and would defiantly visit again.

  • Lovely location in a small village. Close to the coast and the lakes by car. Really lovely space with great views over the hills.

    Oscar2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Old Blue Bell Cottage is so lovely; Mary was kind enough to visit us when we arrived and show us where we wanted to go on a huge map. The cottage itself was very clean and tidy, with windowsills big enough to sit on and take in the scenery (my favourite thing to do), a huge bath and a bathroom with heated flooring! Initially I bought the cottage would be quite crapped but it is definitely very spacious and every had a slight walk in wardrobe. All in all, an amazing trip!

    Antonia2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. The host is a great communicator and if you have any questions her replies are super fast! The accommodation was better than we expected and had a really professional feel. The carpets are lovely and swishy, the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice treat and the whole accommodation was lovely and cosy. A really homely place to stay and superbly clean. Definitely worth staying for longer than two nights to make the most of it!

    Debs2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Mary gave us a warm welcome and was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. She provided a binder full of suggestions and information, as well as maps, menus from nearby pubs and restaurants (recommend the Hare and Hounds for great food and ales), etc. which was very useful. The cottage itself was very warm, clean and comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a comfortable common area. A great base for exploring the Lakes.

    Ed & Josh2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved staying at Mary's place. It was a lovely blend of rustic and modern which just seemed to work throughout the building. Amazing facilities with everything you would need for a short break or a week away. We are very keen to return!

    Matt2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cottage last week and it was a an ideal location for visiting the south of the lakes. Upon our arrival Mary introduced herself and shared her knowledge of the area, which was perfect for us as we hadn’t got any idea where/what to do for the week. There was plenty of map/leaflets also within the cottage to help us plan our adventures. As mentioned on other reports, the bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the lounge/Kitchen is upstairs, this was ideal for taking in the views from the lounge area. The cottage was very clean and was perfect for our weeks holiday. There is a small garden outside which was lovely to sit in when the sun was out, also our dog loved playing with her ball there whilst we enjoyed the view and drinks. If anyone is looking to stay in the south of the Lake District then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage.

    Steve2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to get there but also as a starting point for full Lake District exploration, very convenient. Superb communication from Mary. Would recommend.

  • Denise is a perfect host and her cabin is simply wonderful! Denise was so accommodating - our plans changed and instead of having 3 adults stay, we had 5. No problem! Denise filled her beautiful lakeside home with comfy and thoughtful touches. The cabin was clean, roomy and cozy! This place is a perfect and quiet base for a fun holiday exploring the beautiful Cumbrian countryside!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the lodge. The extra touches were lovely and showed Denise care's about her guests. We hope to be back. The lodge was clean and welcoming. Plenty of blankets for snuggling on the sofa and fresh milk in the fridge on arrival. Communication before arrival was great and Denise ensured the lodge was suitable for our 2 year old.

Yes there a couple staines on a chair from dogs going in it but stop complaining as this host lets you take your dogs and it's very much appreciated. My partner and I fell in love with the house and wanted to buy something very similar .great location and you won't get better responses The house is much larger than it looks and oh my we will be staying here often if welcome lol. Thank you Allison. What a lovely gesture you let walkers and dog lovers use this gem !!

He really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay: he gave us many good recommendations on what to do and where to eat in the area, he set up the fireplace for us and even gave some chocolate to my girlfriend as we were celebrating her birthday that weekend, I can't immagine a better host.

    Roberto2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is finished to a very high standard. The living room is very cosy with a lovely wood burner, just perfect for warming through as we did after a wet and wild day out and about. The Apartment is ideally located with many local walks. We used the local railway to get to Grange over Sands, we’ll worth a visit. The local pub, The Woodlands had a great selection of real ales which suited us. Silverdale also has very nice Indian Restaurant which we used for a takeaway. All in all a great apartment In a lovely location.

  • What a great property. It really did feel homely for us and my dog. All of our needs were met with little touches and the complimentary bottles of wine were great. Towels and bedding provided, absolutely everything you can think of in the kitchen was provided. A great little corner plot of land with a lot of space around. The site is nice and quiet and had a lovely pub/restaurant on site. The outdoor decking would have been great if it had stopped raining long enough. I really hope to stay again in the near future!
