We can also make a BBQ available for your use. • The Annexe is a lovely, quiet place to stay. It is comfortable and cosy despite the terrible weather when we were there. Sally was a thoughtful and warm host. Nothing was too much trouble and her communication was excellent. We even had delicious eggs from the her hens who provided us with much entertainment gambolling around. The pub did a great evening meal and is just a short walk away. Would like to return!

  • Gorgeous annexe for a last minute weekend away. Ended up staying in both nights as the place was so cosy and chilled, travelled to Weymouth and Abbotsbury during the days (about 25-30mins away). Sally was a helpful host, easy check in and lovely property with a view of the back garden, loved seeing all their pet chickens romming too! Thanks :)

Distance yourself from everyone in the depths of Dorset and be self-sufficient. We operate a self check-in which means you never have contact with the owners or anyone else on your trip for the whole time you are there. The studio is situated down a country lane in 7.5 acres of private land. Walks are abundant in this secluded and rural area of Dorset, should the weather be wet then snuggle down with excellent facilities in the studio and for connectivity, good 4G reception and a recently upgraded business WiFi.
The studio is open plan and newly fitted with a very comfortable double bed, table, chairs, sofa, wardrobe, Smart TV, WiFi and very efficient heating. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction hob, multi function cooker/microwave and fridge. The bathroom offers a good size shower, wash basin, loo and heated towel rail. Outside there is a purpose built shed for coats, boots etc. Laundry package upon request.
Cruxton is a small hamlet with a handful of dwellings. The river Frome meanders its way through the fields next to the studio. A mile down the lane is the village of Maiden Newton with its newsagent, fish and chip shop, garage, restaurant, and shops where locally sourced food and the 'Cook' range are available. The property is surrounded by beautiful countryside with walks and cycle rides straight from the door and the Jurassic Coast is only a 20 minute drive away.
  • It was nice.

  • My wife and I stayed for a weekend getaway and this place was absolutely perfect for us. We were welcome with a cake by the host which was lovely and were able to enjoy it out on the deck. Although we stayed over a rainy, wintry weekend, the views and location were absolutely brilliant: Some lovely walks in the gorgeous countryside, good pubs within a short drive and the Jurassic Coast not far away at all. We cannot highly recommend the place enough and will look to book again over the summer.

    Tom2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my boyfriend stayed in Cruxton Lodge for the weekend. The place was lovely and Andrea was very welcoming. It had everything we needed for a great weekend. Thank you for the cake, it was delicious!

    Georgia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most incredible time at Andrea’s studio. The apple cake on arrival was such a lovely touch and Andrea was so welcoming and lovely. We explored all around the local area which Andrea helped us with, giving us recommendations and ideas. She even came straight over when we couldn’t work the oven properly 😂 the studio was spotless and had absolutely everything you could possibly need, even shampoo and conditioner! we can’t wait to come back again, it was the most relaxing place we could’ve found.

    Abi2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Andrew are such lovely hosts. My husband and I needed some time away from our busy London lifestyle. The cabin was exactly what we needed. Andrea’s warm welcome with yummy Dorset apple cake was so sweet and delicious. Extremely helpful and thoughtful throughout our entire stay. Beautiful views and refreshing getaway. Thank you again!

    Tasnia2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Andrea's - picturesque walks nearby. The Monart Spa is a go to!

    Natalie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Well worth the trip, it’s a lovely space that allows you to get away from the city that is both comfortable and well maintained. I would highly recommend sitting out and watching the stars as you can see them so clearly at night.

  • Our second stay at Little Cruxton and just as good as last time. Andrea made us very welcome, nothing is too much trouble. A bit of piece and quiet and time out is what Little Cruxton delivers.

  • Perfect! We’ve just spent 3 days exploring Dorset and this is an idyllic base. Yvonne is a wonderful host, greeting us with fresh bread and eggs from the farm. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the most of the gorgeous garden because of the rain but the house was cosy and comfy. Highly recommended.

    Rachel2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Yvonne’s cottage in January as a family of 4. It’s in a great location for exploring Dorset, with Bridport only 10 mins down the road and Lyme Regis 25 mins away. Our two boys 2 & 5, loved the sheep and chickens outside the property and there was a big box of Lego that kept them entertained. Yvonne and Graham were wonderful hosts and offered lots of advice of places to visit. The cottage is lovely and cosy with the wood burner and underfloor heating, but spacious enough for a family too. The breakfast hamper with their own eggs, jam, marmalade, milk and bread was a lovely touch. We can’t wait to stay again soon and are already planning our next trip!

  • Brilliant place to stay in Dorset. Great amenities. So cosy for a winters break. We really appreciated the breakfast bits. Thank you

  • Lovely cottage in the west part of Dorset! Could not expect a better retreat in the middle of lovely landscape! Thanks for the stay!

    Benoit2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome and a super clean home from home. Loved the delicious treats to enjoy for breakfast and all the extra touches like fresh flowers, plenty of logs and lots of local info. Didn't get outside as it was cold and wet but the outside area would be lovely and private on a sunny day.

    Lucy2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is exactly as described- we found it to be very comfortable. It was really clean, a great shower, and all the kitchen equipment you would need to cook meals. There was a pretty garden, and a log burner. Yvonne lives next door in case of any problems, although we didn’t have any. There are supermarkets in Bridport, a ten minute drive away. There are lots of places to visit in Dorset, but you would definitely need a car. The only issue we had was the narrow country lanes - a few times we struggled to get past other cars.

    Cathy2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and peaceful location with beautiful country views. A well equipped property which was nice and clean. We appreciated the welcome goodies which was much appreciated after our long journey. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting this part of Dorset. Thank you Yvonne!

  • Would highly recommend The Little House! It’s beautifully decorated and so cosy. Melanie is a very friendly and accommodating host. Great location to explore the Dorset coast. Will definitely stay again soon!

    Pippa2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie was prompt in her communication and arrival instructions were excellent considering we were navigating there in darkness (pitch-black winter evening). Little House was cozy and comfortable, some lovely rustic furnishing and finishing details, and the rooms were actually looking bigger than in photos. Bed was luxuriously big and the (feather?) duvet was so warm and snuggly for cold nights (though heating is working well too). As a bonus Melanie has excellent local knowledge whether it's about hiking or food! This was truly a five-star experience for us with Melanie's warm and welcoming hospitality.

    Laura2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay, lovely little out house, good location and brilliant flapjacks!

    James2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic, Melanie is a great host and we could not fault our stay. We had some lovely walks and I would highly recommend a trip to the Rise Cafe for breakfast. Thanks again to Melanie for having us.

  • Myself and my partner stayed at this beautiful Safari tent for Valentines day! We stayed during Storm Dennis and despite the wind and rain, it was an amazing one night stay! When we arrived we zipped the tent open and was welcomed to a lovely and romantic space! The cooking space was perfect for our lovely dinner, the space was exceptionally clean, the inside of the tent was lovely and warm with our lovely faux fireplace and heated blankets for the bed. We will definitely be coming back here and try out the other seasons. Rachel & Adam. x

    Rachel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful weekend staying in the safari tent. Julian and Lesley provided a pick up service from the station and were wonderful hosts, they gave us tips on some beautiful walks we went on. The tent is incredible - it feels huge inside and got so warm with the heaters. Brilliant shower and toilet plus cooking facilities. In the evening we had a fire on the verandah and watched the stars. You should definitely stay here!!

    Lizzie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Lesley’s property was an absolute delight, Lesley really goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. On arriving on Friday evening, we found the tent had been set up with all the lights and heaters on to provide a very welcome. The tent itself is beautifully decorated, and has everything you need. Despite being a tent and staying in the middle of January, the tent was warm throughout our stay, even when it was very wet and windy outside. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery/crockery/pans/utensils, 2 hobs, a microwave, a toaster and kettle – a surprising amount for a tent! The bed was extremely comfortable (making it hard to get out of!). The tent is set on the farmland they own, but is far enough from the main house to feel private and secluded. I would wholeheartedly recommend Lesley’s tent to anyone thinking of staying in the area. We will definitely be coming back in the summer, to make the most of the veranda and BBQ! Thank you Lesley for a wonderful stay!

    Tom2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing night stay here, even with the cold outside hitting almost -2. We had an amazing cozy bed with a heated blanket which we didn’t want to leave in the morning. Great space and the scenery was beautiful, loved seeing all the deer. Couldn’t of wished for a better stay 😊

    Mollie2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little lodge, the pictures don’t do it justice. We arrived in the evening, the lodge was decorated with lights, the heaters were on and the place just looked so cosy, even better than expected. A lovely stay for a romantic trip, we were very warm even though we went in January, the electric blanket was just the best!! We also had a lovely fire in the evening toasting marshmallows, a great stay all year round.

    Shannon2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley’s yurt is so much more than a yurt. It feels so comfy and cosy through all the little touches that have been added. The electric blanket for one, was amazing. We did go in winter so it was a little chilly, but the heaters and the blanket made it feel lovely and warm with a few layers on. Lesley really has thought of everything and made our stay very relaxing indeed. We loved waking up and having breakfast on the decking watching the horses and the sunrise. Thank you again!

    Natalie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a lucky gem to stumble across - a lovely private hideout with porch and fireplace looking out into uninterrupted fields. This rare find is cosy and warm even in December. We spent the evenings around the fireplace followed by cosy sleep. I never knew a tent could heat like that! Good amenities for basic cooking and everything you need to switch off and relax for a few days. Close enough drive to interesting Dorset attractions, but nestled down gorgeous country lanes as if stepping back in time. We'll be back.

    Jess2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Go - book it; you won’t regret it. It really is a wonderfully tranquil and restful place. It was cold but we always felt warm when inside the tent, the facilities were perfect and the little touches, like the scones, were a lovely touch. It’s a perfect place for exploring Dorset but also a haven to just rest. We will definitely be returning.

  • I booked this chalet for my three relatives who were attending a wedding at Axnoller Farm. (It is about 12 minutes from the venue for anyone looking for similar accommodation). They loved the chalet. It was clean and comfortable and everything they required. This area of Dorset has wonderful scenery and you will need a car but what a great base from which to explore.

Welcome to The Pond House! Nestled away at the end of the lane, on the cusp of country walks and soothing views, is where you'll find The Pond House. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Pond House is the perfect base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. Max 2 dogs welcome, but please inform me beforehand. A £10 charge may be added at the end if there is extra cleaning.
The Pond House is located along a country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. You have your own detached space with your own parking and entrance. The bedroom and living area is a large studio space with a lovely old restored Villager woodburner facing the bed, so you can fall asleep to the sound of wood cracking away and the orange glow of cosiness. Huge glass doors and large double glazed windows fill the room with light and the view is into your own private garden with a big pond and seating area. This is a newly converted space that was once an old farm building with vast amounts of concrete. It has had new life breathed into it over the past year and the garden and pond are both new, with native trees and fruit trees planted in the hope that it will be a space enjoyed by visiting guests, wildlife, birds and aquatic creatures as the pond is discovered in the spring. The Pond House is rough around the edges and cosy where it counts. It is not luxury, it's cosy and designed as a space to be used by those who are looking for a quiet, relaxed countryside stay with no TV or WIFI. The Kitchen comes stocked with tea and coffee. There is a toaster, hot water, fridge with freezer, a 2 ring hob and saucepans etc. It's basic but has all you will need to cook simple meals. The bathroom is spacious and bright with a flushing toilet, hot water at the sink and an electric shower over a reclaimed bath. The bath does not function as a bath, only as a place to shower. There is an electric towel rail and towels are provided. Please be aware that the wood burner is the only heating in The Pond House. There is no central or electric heating - please be aware of this before you arrive so you are not disappointed. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. The first load of wood is included, if you require more you can purchase another load for £10 or purchase a bag of wood at the garden centre in Bridport. Please only burn wood, the Villager is NOT a multi-fuel burner and burning coal or other fuels may damage it.
We are a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside. West Bay is your closest beach, and it has plenty of places to eat, lots of fish and chip stalls and an old harbour full of boats. Drive west along the coast road and you'll find Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis, the fossil capital of the UK and home to some wonderful restaurants. Lewesdon Hill, Dorset's highest hill, is just 5 minutes away by car. Once an Iron Age Hill Fort, it is covered in ancient beech and oak trees and filled with bluebells every spring. We highly recommend a visit and the views at the top will not disappoint. You have some of the best country walks straight from The Pond House. The Brit Valley Way will take you all the way to West Bay and the footpaths around Netherbury offer some gentle and some more challenging walks. For all your foodie needs look no further than Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. Bridport and Beaminster both have great restaurants and pubs and Bridport also has an antiques and food market every Wednesday and Saturday. There are many supermarkets too, takeaways and quiet corners to fill your spirits. We are very lucky to be a short walk from the Award Winning Furleigh Wine Estate. Pre-book for a tour of their vineyards and a tasting session of their fabulous British white wines. The Hare & Hounds pub is a 10-15 minute walk along the footpaths and does great beer and food. It's dog friendly and has a large garden.
  • a great place to relax and unwind. just charming and a break from the norm. highly recommend the pond house.

  • Due to bad weather we had to cancel our trip last minute. Carys was helpful, understanding and kind. We hope to visit another time as this place looks so lovely!

  • Wendy is a delightful host at this delightful en-suite space offering a very comfortable stay for a couple or solo traveler in the heart of the beautiful DORSET countryside, and only a 3 minute walk from the station.

    Steven ‘Frits’2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the room at Wendy's place. It has big glass doors so you can watch the sunset and enjoy the weather, plus a beautiful patio space that you could relax on in good weather. There is still lots of privacy with the big light-blocking curtains and separate entrance. Coffee and tea-making, and a nice clean bathroom with hot shower. Luxurious carpet. Lots of space. Easy and ample parking. Highly recommend!

    Gina2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • As other guests have reported, Wendy’s place was excellent. Safe off road parking at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac. The room had its own private entrance and a deck to sit out on when the weather is nice, which sadly it wasn’t whilst I was there. For anyone visiting the Dorchester area this is a nice place to stay and I’d happily stay there again when I’m next in the area.

Tastefully decorated, the Old Barn is the perfect place to relax and explore the Jurassic Coast and surrounding areas. Nestled in a sleepy valley the cottage is 20min drive from Bridport and the beach. It is the ideal place for walks without the use of your car and reading by the wood burner. In summer the small farm is a beautiful place to picnic. The two bedrooms are en suite with baths. I am happy to receive grocery deliveries earlier on the day of your arrival and unpack and put away.
The two single beds can zip together to make a comfortable kingsize bed, giving you two double rooms.
There are views of open farmland and plenty of walks along lanes, woods and riverside from the front door. Next door is the Kingcombe Centre with a cafe in the summer months. Google for any interesting courses you might like to join. Restaurants and pubs in the area include Watch House Café in West Bay, Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock Beach, Ollerod in Beaminster, River Cottage Canteen in Axminster. I also love The Anchor in Seatown and locally, The Fox and Hounds at Cattistock.
  • Great place to stay! From start to finish Mandie is a gracious and thoughtful host. From a courtesy bottle of wine, to offering to book us in to the local pub for dinner. The accommodation is a cosy home from home with everything you will need to enjoy your stay, along with great tips on the local area. Thoroughly recommended!

    Angela2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, dog and I had an absolutely lovely stay! The barn was perfect for us and incredibly warm and cosy. The extra touches of wine, milk, and the log burner burning away for us when we arrived just made us feel all the more welcome and at home. Mandie’s invaluable advice on the best places to go was so helpful in utilising our short time away so much more effectively. It truly was ‘home-from-home’. Looking forward to our return visit.

    Lucy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem of a place that was the perfect retreat for us and our dog. Wonderfully quaint in a beautiful location with some stunning local walks nearby. Perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle although the more tourist areas (like the Jurassic Coast) are easily accessible about 45 mins away. The barn was exceptionally spacious and the log fire didn't disappoint. Mandie was extremely charming and was well organised having left a book and notes with lots of useful tips of places to go. The small added touches like the wine and hot water bottles made for a really welcoming stay. We would love to stay again! Thank you Monica and Clive x

  • Mandie’s cottage is remote and beautiful - the perfect place for a relaxing getaway amidst the rolling hills and valleys of Dorset. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and relaxing, giving us helpful local advice on walks and restaurants. The wood burning stove in the sitting room gave us a roaring fire that kept us warm all weekend - definitely a highlight! Would recommend and stay again.

    Alexandra2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Mandie’s place! The place was very peaceful and cosy and had everything we needed (plus super comfy beds which was a big plus!). Lots to do near by and interesting things to explore on the farm for our children. Loved it!

  • Mandie is a conscientious, friendly and helpful host who made us feel really at home. Although nothing was too much trouble during our short visit, she also gave us privacy to relax and enjoy her beautiful home. Just like the other reviews mention, the house is spectacular- a perfect countryside retreat with a trio of gorgeous ‘sturdy’ Westies. The kitchen is really well equipped and the beds are comfy with good quality sheets and bed linen. We loved our weekend- thank you Mandie!

  • The village is so tranquil and the setting of Piglet Cottage is equally calm and peaceful. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable - especially the beds! We all slept so well - even the dogs. Lovely welcoming touches such as wine and cake for us and bowl, blanket and biscuits for the dogs. We were lucky with the weather and had a few drinks outside on the first floor terrace. Perfect cottage for our re-union and some great dog walks.

    Hilary2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved piglet cottage. It felt like a home from home. The cake was a lovely touch and very much appreciated after a long drive in the torrential rain! (We would have loved a drop of milk to make a cuppa to go with it). The cottage is wonderfully decorated and had everything we needed. We used the log burner on our first night and it was great at heating the house. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return!

Walks are spectacular and plenty available without taking the car. No light pollution so star gazing is incredible. Local shop with opening times until 9pm that stocks anything you might need in one direction of the village and petrol station with a spar in the opposite direction. I will definitely be returning 😄

  • A great little find. We were looking for somewhere to stay whilst visiting my sister and her newborn. Janes communication from the beginning was great and the place was in a perfect location for us, nice and quiet but close to amenities, shop, pub, transport. Inside it was a perfect size for us, nice and clean and cosy and warm. Jane met us on arrival and was very helpful when we got a little bit lost on our way. She showed us round and gave us a couple of tips on where to eat and drink in the village. Easy check in and check out and we’ll certainly be back in the new year and will be recommending to other family and friends going to visit

  • Staying at Pumpkin View with my dog was wonderful! Jane went above & beyond for us. She is a fantastic host! The place was very clean and incredibly comfortable. A brilliant place to have some peace & just relax. The local area is lovely and peaceful with easy access to so many other wonderful places. A great place to stay if you’re using public transport as well. I would highly recommend Jane & Pumpkin View as a wonderful place to stay.

This is one of those places I shall keep coming back to.

Walkers. Writers. Eaters. Retreaters. Welcome to The Cabin! The perfect retreat from modern life. Get back to nature with muddy walks, fresh air and stunning seaside strolls! The Cabin is located in West Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is on the doorstep to some of Dorset's best walks, National Trust sites, Jurassic Coast beaches, award winning restaurants and bustling weekend markets.
We're dog friendly here and so a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome to join you at The Cabin (£10 charge may be added at the end if extra cleaning is necessary, please see house rules if bringing your dog). The Cabin is located along a quiet country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Cabin is a cosy, quiet base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. For all your foodie needs we highly recommend a visit to the nearby Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. The kitchen is stocked with tea and coffee and the essentials such as a cooker, oven, toaster, fridge with freezer, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans etc. The living area is soft and cosy with a larger Hunter Herald 8 woodburner. This is the only heating in The Cabin and will get the whole place lovely and snug. We provide a starter load of logs which may last you for your whole stay if you're out and about a lot, but if you want to spend 2 days in front of a burning fire you can purchase more logs from us for £10 a bucket, or head to Groves garden centre in Bridport and purchase a bag of seasoned logs for around £6/7. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. Please only burn wood and not other fuels. The Cabin is very comfortable and cosy but it isn’t luxury. Perfect for couples and those looking to just relax. The Cabin is opposite a small organic beef and lamb farm so you should expect to hear a little farm noise as the farmers go about their day. The amount of noise varies depending on the season and if the cows are in the barn during winter. In the summer they're in the fields and noise is at a minimum. It's very much the sound of rural Dorset.
Step out of your front door, turn left and you'll find yourself rambling along a bridle path that connects you to the Brit Valley Way, an 11 mile walking route that meanders through Dorset's stunning countryside all the way to West Bay where you'll see the Jurassic Coast's iconic cliffs and the backdrop to ITV's Boradchurch! Or, if you feel like staying closer to home, head up the road to the beautiful ancient Iron Age hill fort of Lewesdon Hill. It's the highest hill in Dorset and it's a beautiful walk through ancient oaks and beech trees. The view from the top is stunning and one of the best in the county, particularly in spring when the way up is carpeted with bluebells. The Cabin is a short wander along the lane to the award winning Furleigh Wine Estate where you can taste some fantastic British wine and take a guided tour of their vineyards. Why not bring some wine back with you to enjoy beside a toasty fire? Their wine can also be found at Washingpool Farm Shop if you don't have time for a tour. The Cabin is within easy reach of some of West Dorset's best beaches, walks and towns. Bridport is a short drive away and offers fantastic pubs and cafes as well as a busy Wednesday and Saturday market and many antique and vintage shops. Lyme Regis is 20 minutes west and is a must visit if you're a keen fossil hunter (or simply to visit the fudge shop!). We are so lucky to have West Bay, Burton Bradstock, West Bexington, Eype, Charmouth and Lyme Regis beaches in easy reach of The Cabin, so whether you want cliffs or no cliffs, pebbles or sand, lots of people or only a tiny few, there is a beach and a walk to suit you here. Whatever you are visiting for, we hope you enjoy your stay at The Cabin!
  • Carys’s place was a great bolt hole for walking and exploring, and for playing scrabble by the fire in the evenings. The fire was lit on arrival which was a great touch, really welcoming, and the cabin had everything we needed; good coffee, tea etc, plus an additional heater & fresh flowers dotted around! We loved all the books around, and the artwork on the walls :)

  • Nice, secluded place for a quiet get away.

  • Lovely to turn up to a lit fire. Cary’s met us on arrival and stayed in contact throughout our stay. We stayed with our Samoyed and 9 month old son. We walked to the Hare and Hounds country pub through some fields and then came back to a nice fire, scrabble and red wine. Great little weekend getaway :-)

  • Beautiful secluded cosy cabin, would recommend to anyone. Lovely location and super comfy! Perfect

    Holly2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was much bigger than I expected but still cosy and homely. Once I got the fire going (which Carys was very helpful with) it was the perfect place to be to snuggle up on the sofa and chill out for a few days. A lovely little getaway!

    Amelia2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is lovely and snuggly. We loved it. It rained during our stay and we loved listening to it on the roof, with the fire on eating dinner. The kitchen is great and fully equipped. Thank you

    Charlotte2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely countryside bolt hole with everything you need. Bridport market on a Saturday is a must as is the Golden Cap walk or the Jurassic Coastal path. A peaceful cozy stay and very private. Carys was very helpful although we didn’t actually meet.

My house is in a quiet road in Maiden Newton which is a friendly village in the Frome valley. In the village there is a garage, Spar, village stores, fish and chip shop, newsagents, coffee shop, GP practice, railway station, small restuarant and a pub. The village links with many cycle and walking routes and is popular with people who enjoy getting out and about in the countryside. You can take the train to Dorchester or Weymouth or easily drive to West Bay and Bridport.
My home is an end of terrace with views over hills at the back and a valley in the front. I have decorated my home in calming colours and comfortable furnishings. On the ground floor I have my art studio, kitchen/diner, lounge and conservatory. The gardens are mature and in the back garden has a summer house which is available to use in good weather. Upstairs there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath, an office, my room and the guest bedroom which is decorated and styled to be comfortable and stylish.
The village is surrounded by farmland, it is central to many attractions including the beach at West Bay which was featured in the popular tv series Broadchurch. Bridport is a 15/20 minute drive and is the home of street markets and a thriving artists quarter. Dorchester is also a 15/20 minute drive and has museums and places of interest. Dorchester and Weymouth can be reached by train from Maiden Newton station which is 5 mins walk from my house

You will love our luxury yurt on our secluded farm in West Dorset, close to the Jurassic Coast and Bridport. Russet has a divinely comfortable superking bed, the finest bedding and linen and a wood burner to keep you cosy and warm. With an en-suite bathroom and kitchen yurt this is glamping in style! You will enjoy a wood fired hot-tub, firebowls, cob pizza oven and deck with stunning views. It is a wonderful backdrop for a truly peaceful, relaxing break - for couples, families and groups alike.
Russet is a beautifully hand crafted 20ft en-suite yurt with ample space for living both inside and out. It has a superking bed with bedside tables, a very comfortable sofa, woodburner and fireside chair. There is also a dining table to seat 4 and a small chest for clothes. A side door leads to the wonderful larch clad en-suite bathroom with a shower, basin, toilet and towel rail. To the front of the yurt is an enormous larch deck with an outside dining table and far reaching views across the stunning West Dorset hills. There is a whole private paddock to explore around Russet, which includes a firebowl for barbecues and campfires and an outside seating area on the grass below. There are numerous footpaths from your yurt should you wish to explore the surrounding area. There is a shared kitchen yurt in the Cherry Orchard below Russet which houses a gas range cooker, two fridges, sink and all the cooking utensils and crockery we think you might need. If there is anything you find you need then you are always welcome to come and see me at the house at the end of the drive. There is also a separate shared dining area outside the kitchen yurt. Set on a beautiful secluded farm just 5 minutes from Bridport and 10 minutes from Westbay and the Jurassic Coast. A car is essential as public transport is limited. We have a wood fired hot tub that you are welcome to use during your stay. It sits on its own private deck away from our yurts and costs £35 per day and we can get it ready for you by filling it with clean, fresh water, heating it and cleaning it. We can host a pizza evening in our wood fired pizza oven for you using local ingredients for £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. Both the Hot Tub and Pizza Oven can be booked in advance or once you have arrived.
West Dorset combines the most stunning countryside with the breathtaking Jurassic Coast. It is a walkers paradise - with a stroll up Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast of England, followed by drinks and food at The Anchor in Seatown a particular favourite. If you're looking for a more adrenaline filled time why not experience the thrills of a rib boat ride and explore the Jurassic Coast from sea. With plenty of local activities for adults and children, fantastic restaurants and pubs and the peace and tranquility of Walnut Farm, West Dorset is the perfect place for couples, families and groups of friends.
  • Such an incredible stay. Amazing hosts and an incredible space. The yurts are beautiful and exactly what we wanted! We will definitely be back.

  • Lovely setting. Well thought out space with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The kitchen is really well equipped so perfect for cooking on site. Nick was a very helpful host. We loved sitting in the hot tub admiring the wonderful view! Highly recommend a stay! Hopefully I’ll be back.

    Beth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with some friends (four of us in one yurt) and were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The two beds were nice and showers etc. really good. It’s an amazing place with beautiful sunsets. We used the hot tub on the first night and went over to the pub in the village for the second. Couldn’t recommend staying here more and Nick was an amazing host!

  • Great stay with my wife and baby

    Joel2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely stay, the yurt was lovely, spacious, cosy and clean! Also lots of plug sockets which did come in handy. Great for people who like the idea of camping but not the complete reality! The hot tub was good fun too, Nick had it up and running for our arrival. Highly recommend.

    Benjamin2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic weekend away and I recommend it as a warmer, more comfortable, stylish experience compared to standard camping. It's situated in the beautiful countryside but not far from the beach and restaurants and it was so relaxing to get away from it all. Molly was so welcoming and really looked after us. I really recommend giving it a go.

    Gail2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect find for a short break during Easter and we weren't sure what to expect. We couldn't have been happier with the secluded location, beautiful surroundings and the amazing accommodation. The yurt was stunning inside with a super comfy bed, a lovely ensuite with hot shower and a large woodburner to keep us cosy at night. Molly and Nick were wonderful hosts and we'd love to come back. For anyone that has any doubts about sleeping under canvas, the yurt was better and more fun than any hotel room! This is glamping at its finest!

A pretty stone-built terraced cottage located on a quiet street in the heart of the charming West Dorset town of Beaminster, a short walk from its excellent restaurants, pubs, food and gift shops. Beautiful walks from the door and only a short drive to the spectacular Jurassic Coast with its stunning coast walks and beaches. Dorset Cottage is a sweet little bolthole - a perfect base for a relaxing holiday and ideal for singles, couples and for small families with a baby or young child.
Nick and Jo, who look after the cottage, live around the corner with their two young children and dog, have spent the past few years exploring the area. They have put together a guide to all the wonderful things to see and do near by and are happy to advise you on activities and sites to visit during your stay. You enter a small porch area where you can store your coats, wellies and beach bags. Next is the open plan living room and kitchen. The sitting area has a very comfortable red sofa (which folds out as a double sofa bed if required) and arm chair. There is a widescreen TV and DVD player, CD player and ipod dock. The cottage is within a BT wifi hotspot (free to BT customers; available to others for a fee to BT). A selection of books and games are also provided, as well as maps and guidebooks. There's a round pine table with four chairs and a well-equipped modern kitchen with gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, a good set of pots, pans and utensils and a full set of crockery. Tea and coffee are provided. Upstairs there is a comfortable double bedroom with ample cupboard space, armchair and TV, and a light and airy white bathroom with WC, sink, bath and shower (above the bath). There is a quiet private garden with seating area and a lovely view of the church. We welcome babies and toddlers and can provide a travel cot and bedding, high chair and booster seat. We may be able to provide other kit if you need. We can recommend local adult DBS/CRB-checked baby-sitters and things to do with young children. One well behaved small or medium dog would be very welcome.
Beaminster is a pretty, very small town, 6 miles inland from the coast. Its golden stone buildings lie nestled amongst the surrounding gently rolling hills and woodland. We love the local food shops, all within a short walk of the cottage, including the excellent Fruit 'n' Two Veg, Nick Tett the butcher, the Evershot Bakery which sells very good granary bread, and Brassica Mercantile for upmarket treats. And there is also a smart little Co-op open 7am-11pm, 7 days a week for papers, groceries, drinks and other essentials. There are several good cafes, including Tangerine, The Trading Post, Cilla and Camilla and The Steak Out and two excellent restaurants - Brassica and The Ollerod. And there are browsing shops too, including Cilla and Camilla with clothes, kitchenware, gifts and toys, Pomegranate with kilims and Spanish pottery, Brassica Mercantile for imaginative gifts, homeware and food and Partners in Design for fabrics and luxury homeware . There is a beautiful active church, which has perhaps the finest tower in Dorset, a fascinating museum and a brilliant playground and playing fields. Footpaths lead out into the countryside in every direction. Our favourite walk is to the lovely village of Netherbury, and then on down the valley and through the woods to Stoke Abbott with a stop for a delicious lunch at the New Inn, and then back home via Gerrards Hill and a great view of Golden Cap, Lewesden Wood and beyond...
  • A quaint cottage in a lovely little location which was perfectly clean and had good amenities. Nick was very quick to reply to comments and the stay was a very pleasant one.

  • We had a lovely long weekend at this little cottage. It is in an excellent location, with lots of great walks from the cottage. Being in the centre of the village everything is to hand (shops, pubs, restaurants, etc). The cottage is charming and cosy, with everything you need. It is ideal if you are a dog owner - with tiled floor and a small garden. At first we did thinking the on street parking might be a problem, but actually always found a space, so it was fine. Highly recommended.

    Neil2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage with everything you need in heart of Beaminster. We would definitely stay again. Perfect for our weekend away near plenty of dog friendly beaches and very short walking distance to dog friendly pubs and shops in Beaminster.

Snuggle up in a warm cabin on a winters day or stroll to the riverbank and toast marshmallows by a fire. With our selection of wellies, feel free to borrow them and head off over the fields or down the lanes, stopping at the local pub for a welcome fireside drink. A perfect get away for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The studio is newly fitted throughout. The bedroom has a very comfortable double bed, contemporary oak hanging rail, stool and chest of drawers. In the living room the sofa converts into a sofa bed, table, chairs, console table, Smart TV, WiFi and very efficient oil central heating. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction hob, cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The bathroom has a large 1700mm shower with rain head and detachable head, wash basin, loo and heated towel rail. Outside, the decking offers spectacular views. Deer, partridge, pheasant, swallows and house martins can all be seen. There are garden chairs, benches and a table. It is not overlooked and very private. Your own parking is immediately next to the studio with a utility room housing a washing machine and dryer.
Cruxton is a small hamlet with a handful of dwellings. The river Frome meanders its way through the fields next to the Lodge. In the opposite direction, a mile down the lane is the village of Maiden Newton with a newsagent, fish and chip shop, garage, restaurant and a shop which supplies fabulous local produce. The main line station runs trains to Bath, Bristol and Weymouth. Pubs don't get better than the Fox and Hounds in Cattistock or the Saxon Arms in Stratton. There are many wonderful places to eat, not least The Riverside at West Bay, Summer Lodge Hotel, The Hive Beach Cafe, The Club House, Hix Oyster and Fish House and even an Indian takeaway van every other Thursday in Maiden Newton! The Jurassic coast line is a 20 minute drive. Only 8 miles away is the old town of Dorchester with a market, cinema, coffee shops, Waitrose and Lidl to name a few. Explore West Bay where Broadchurch was filmed and discover the places that inspired Thomas Hardy's classic novels.
  • I cant recommend this place enough. Andrea is so lovely and friendly. There is anything you could possibly want in the place and it is immaculately clean. We had the best sleep we have had in a long time and will gladly return. Even though we had a storm while there, we were happy to watch movies in the comfort of the place. We even got a cake on arrival. There were lots of well thought out amenities.

    Megan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea’s hospitality made you feel like you’re at home & her recommendations from where to eat to what to do around the area makes the trip so much easier. You cant ask for more from a west country escape!

  • Andrea is an excellent host and thinks of everything.. kingfisher lodge is a perfect retreat set in a stunning location

    Martyn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 4 nights stay at the cosy and warm cottage. We have had some amazing stays and hosts in the past via Airbnb but this stay was made all the more special by how welcoming Andrea and her husband were and all the thoughtful touches. The cottage itself is well located not far from the Jurassic coast. The place is sparkling clean with a modern shower, kitchen and well appointed for both staying in, sleeping and cooking. The shower is nice, powerful and hot. Wifi is pretty fast and you can sign in to your own Netflix, prime accounts on the TV for those wet days if you stay in. The cottage is in the owner's property and they are at hand for any needs but there is absolute privacy as well. I would thoroughly recommend this stay. Our boy still talks about Nala :)

If we come back we will definitely stay here again.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Shepherds Cottage. It was cosy, very warm and spotlessly clean. It fitted our needs perfectly and was just the best location for our 3 days away from home - a real home from home! Rosemary’s recommendation of dinner at The Fox and Hounds did not disappoint - the best meal we’ve had for a while. We booked this accommodation based purely on the reviews and we were not disappointed. We will definitely return in the Spring. Ps. Best nights sleep in the most comfortable bed too!!

  • This is a great place for a couple wanting to enjoy a quiet cottage on a farm in a beautiful area. The cottage had everything we needed and was accessible to lots of places via the lovely (narrow) Dorset country lanes. Rosemary was very helpful with information and advice and quick to respond to enquiries.

    Chris2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cosy cottage, perfect space inside and out. Rosemary left some thoughtful touches, was super friendly and advised us on the best places to eat. Would definitely return.

  • Lovely place for a spot of R & R. Full of rustic charm but without being fussy. Some lovely, interesting touches in the decor too. Really enjoyed stoking the log burner - very comforting. Great views across the fields, and close proximity to some adorable new born lambs. Really good location for Bridport and the coast. Karen was a very friendly, welcoming and helpful host. Highly recommended........

  • A tranquil experience which is perfect for getting away. Even for a short weekend, my partner and I were able to fully relax next to the fire, then enjoy the beautiful Eype beach and town in the day. We will definitely be returning!

    Victoria2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to spend a few days. The barn has been converted into such a lovey, cosy studio space. The log burner warms the room up very quickly. Our dog very much enjoyed morning walks around the farm and in the field where she could have free roam. It was very close to the local beautiful beaches so was a great location too. Having their chickens eggs for breakfast and a delicious home cooked cake was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend a stay here in the stunning Jurassic coast

  • My parents had an amazing time here. They came back feeling relaxed having stayed here for 2 days. They said the host they met was lovely. Brilliant location to get away from it all for a while. They really loved it.

This self-contained garden room is located in the pretty small town of Beaminster, which is set amid rolling hills and 8 miles from the Jurassic Coast. It's in a quiet street and the town square with restaurants, cafes and shops is just a few minutes walk away. Lovely walks from the door. Suitable for a couple or single.
This garden room offers basic facilities and is comfortable and snug (central heating). It is one room with an en suite shower/loo. The bedroom/living area is the size of a bedroom and the kitchenette is half as much space again. The kitchenette has a breakfast bar, a two ring gas hob, a small fridge, a microwave, a toaster, and a kettle. There is a separate shower room/loo. The bed is a comfortable king size. There is a TV (includes radio channels). The glass front door looks out onto a patio cottage garden (part of our larger garden) where there is a garden table and two chairs. No Wifi - the area has 4G.
Beaminster is a picture-perfect small West Dorset town and a lovely place for a get-away. It has restaurants (two highly rated ones, 'Brassica' and 'Olerod') and cafes (including the vegetarian cafe, 'The Trading Post') and interesting shops set around a square. It is surrounded by rolling hills with great walks. The garden room is also a good base for those who want to explore the surrounding area. West Dorset is known for its lovely countryside, gorgeous coastline, pretty villages and small towns (Far From The Madding Crowd, and TV's Broadchurch were filmed here). Nearby Bridport is a vibrant, arty town with an arts centre, arthouse cinema, a vintage quarter and a bustling weekly antique/bric a brac market (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The golden cliffs of West Bay are just down the road from Bridport. A scenic coast road connects Bridport and Weymouth (through the lovely village of Abbosbury on chesil beach). In the other direction is Lyme Regis, a small, elegant seaside town. Dorchester is our biggest nearby town (18 miles) and is famous for Maiden Castle, the largest Iron Age hill fort in Europe.
  • What a lovely little place in a beautiful small town. Actually this cute room could fit two people and is located right in a lovely garden. Highly recommended.

  • It’s a nice and quiet place. It’s really close to the seafront and supermarkets (about 15 minutes by car). Helen and her family are so friendly and she was so helpful and always there, if needed. Maybe one hint: you should not be afraid of spiders, slugs and other creatures, cause it’s really close to nature ;-)
