Places to stay in Lone Rock
We welcome you to be our guest in our comfy, warm cabin nestled on the lower Wisconsin River. We disinfect entire cabin between each guest. We are close to many area attractions including Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, House on the Rock, American Players Theater, Wisconsin Dells, and much more! Activities include canoeing, fishing, hunting, shopping in quaint villages, or just relaxing watching the river... Our cabin is easy to get to and close to area villages but in a private setting.
Our cabin sits about 30 feet from the river. We have a spectacular view of the river from a large picture window in the cabin, or from sitting on the deck or back yard bench.
  • Very nice little cottage. The view of the river was lovely, and the brownies the host left were a delightful touch.

  • Terrific cabin on the Wisconsin River. Amazing views with outdoor activities at your fingertips. Rick and Sandy are great accommodating hosts. Much looking forward to our return trip.

  • Loved the stay here much. By the second day it was already feeling like home. These two are wonderful people and with the early snow they made sure we were taken care of. Sandy works in a lovely flower shop half an hour away that we were invited to visit.

  • What an absolutely lovely stay! Sandy was a quick and communicative host, and made it easy to extend our stay. She also made us some chocolate pudding, which we all enjoyed! The cabin was extremely well equipped— we made dinner there every night! The views are spectacular, and the changing colors of the leaves were lovely. There is a grill that we used, and a fire pit where were made a fire each night. The space was more than comfortable for myself, my fiancé, and my mom. We stayed upstairs in the bedroom, and mom had the downstairs level all to herself—lots of privacy. We could not have asked for a better stay! We would come back to the area in a heartbeat— just to stay at the delightful little cabin and enjoy the fall views! Do yourself a favor, and book Sandy’s cabin!

  • Wonderful place to stay! Sandy was a great hostess, meeting is us at the end of the drive and showing us around. She even went as far as leaving a pumpkin pie and whipped cream! Beautiful scenery as well! Highly recommend this place.

  • Sandy was so considerate and baked special treats for our friends from UK. She responded to all my questions very quickly and was genuinely a wonderful hostess. I would love to come back again soon.

  • What a wonderful cabin and wonderful little place on the Wisconsin River with great views from the back window and also from their deck Sandy and Rich were great hosts and we hope to go back there again someday also the fishing was good for a few days did get a few big channel catfish smallmouth bass and a drum but the following day caught many fish including a few flathead catfish but they were all on a small side.

    Marty2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a place where you can walk out the back door and be a few feet from a gorgeous, wide river, this place is for you. A deck overlooking the river where you can grill on the grill or roast marshmallows over an open fire, while listening to the sounds of nature. Or you can sit inside and watch the river through the large picture window. Then in the evening, if you've had enough quiet, you can watch the very large TV - including Netflix and Amazon. Your hosts are gracious and helpful and there is comfort all around.

Set on one acre, the property offers stunning views from just about every room in the house as well as easy access to the river. We disinfect entire cabin between each guest.
Rest and relax, go fishing, launch a canoe, bird watch, and just watch the river flow by. This rustic chalet is the perfect spot to get away from it all, in an intimate and private setting, yet easily accessible to Muscoda (3.5 miles) and Spring Green (18 miles)! The surrounding area offers endless possibilities for exploration and adventure. Whether you stay close to home or get out and about, you will no doubt love your stay in beautiful Southwest Wisconsin.
The cabin is located on HWY 60, the first to be designated a Scenic Byway in Wisconsin. The road takes you along the Lower Wisconsin Riverway, a 92-mile run of the Wisconsin River that goes from Prairie du Sac to the confluence of the Mississippi River! It represents one of the longest stretches of free flowing river remaining in the Midwest! Information on canoe rentals, river maps, and the Lower Wisconsin Riverway can be found here: (Website hidden by Airbnb)
  • This was hands down one of the best places I've stayed using airbnb... and I have stayed in many! Sandy and her husband were excellent hosts! They were upper responsive, gave us local suggestions, and even baked us some of the BEST cookies we have ever had! The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for! This would be the perfect place to go for a relaxing weekend away, or an adult friend/family gathering! It is right on the Wisconsin river so I would be nervous bringing small children, but man... the sunsets were unreal! We will definitely be back!

    Chelsi2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very warm and comfy. The view is fantastic. We had all the amenities we needed to snuggle in for a couple of cold, soggy days. We were able to cook meals, play board games (some provided), watch movies (even used the DVD player for some Redbox rentals) and cuddle up in front of the fireplace. Sandy is a great hostess, she was very sweet to meet us upon arrival and give us the ins and outs of the cabin. It was very clean and nicely decorated. We will definitely be back again!

    Misty2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beyond my expectations! Everything about it was beautiful but the view was the best part! Sandy was also a great host and very quick with the responses, she also made the best pumpkin bread ever!!

    Shania2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant place, the owner Sandy is really nice!

    David2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place and friendly hosts. The basement area with the bunk beds was a little cold but there are a lot of windows so it’s understandable. Very cool layout and relaxing place.

    Kevin2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely spotless, comfortable furniture and beds, lots of room. The deck is right overlooking the river and very peaceful. Listen to the wildlife, you will hear many things, owls, coyotes and such. Very relaxing environment. There's a nice little winery in the area to check out as well as the countryside.

  • Our stay was great! The home was set up with every thing a person needs; the kitchen and bath had all the tools and necessities; the bedrooms were large and comfortable; the view over the valley was stunning. We definitely enjoyed our stay

    Janis2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Francesca and Raul are amazing hosts and the property and home are beautifully maintained and welcoming. We were encouraged to check out their trails on the property that Raul created himself for running, and we were lucky to be able to meet both Francesca and Raul and chat with them about their property and adventures in running different races around the country. They were even kind enough to let me borrow a headlamp to use for a nighttime run through the trails! The basement apartment is very nice with a full bathroom, kitchen with all the cookware you’d need, dining area, two bedrooms, and a private entrance. We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck by the fire pit after a nice chilly hike. Anyone who likes some seclusion and are a little adventurous will love this place. Next time we are in the area we definitely know where to go! Thanks guys, you really made our trip worthwhile!

    Michele2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Francesca's place - it was easy to find and a gorgeous property with access to their land and walking trails. Spring Green is a lovely little community with so much to do in town and outside of town.

  • The house was delivered exactly as advertised and then some. Extra small amenities like shampoo and coffee were provided. Would stay here again when I'm back in the area.

  • Great hosts!!! I loved chatting with them on arrival. I really enjoyed starting my mornings with nature walks around their 60 acres.

We got to meet both Francesca and Raul and they were very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We would love to stay again.

Quaint apartment in historic building in downtown Spring Green. Once a 1930's grocery, building houses a one bedroom suite with full kitchen, living area with sectional, one bedroom with queen bed, one bath. All in the immediate downtown area. Free wi-fi, streaming TV. Private entry at rear of building. Sleeps two, but could sleep additional person on sectional.
Walk to local restaurants, coffee shops, movie theater, shopping, live music. Municipal swimming pool, park, and golf course within walking distance. Within 5 miles of American Players Theatre, Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, The Springs Golf Course, Nature Conservancy, Tower Hill State Park. House on the Rock attraction 15 minute drive. A trip to Wisconsin Dells less than an hour away.
  • Nice little place for a small group of 2 or 3. Plenty of information left by owners about the town and upstairs tenants. Upstairs floors make noise when tenants walk around. Didn't bother us except for our last night there when we were trying to go to sleep early. Overall a great place to stay, close to a supermarket, restaurant and other amenities.

  • This is a great place to stay in Spring Green. The apartment is easy to access and in the center of everything in the area. Next time I am in Spring Green, I will be staying here.

  • great location in center of town.

  • I've found my new home away from home in Spring Green. I come up every year for a weekend at APT, and I've struggled to find a good place to stay. Spring Green has lots of doily-covered B&Bs that serve breakfast at 7 a.m., lots of dusty old motels that use the Frank Lloyd Wright influence as an excuse never to update anything, and one overpriced (and equally dusty) resort. But this place is modern and clean, and it's right in the heart of downtown Spring Green, just steps away from the shops and restaurants. Parking is easy, check-in is smooth, and the decor is unique and interesting. Highly recommended!

    Ashley2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked in the heart of downtown, you can walk to coffee, shopping, dining and the farmers market right from the front door. Big fridge, hot water, plenty of towels. The queen size bed is very comfortable and they offer outlets and charging ports at the bedside. Good ceiling fans and a quiet location made for great sleep. If you’re coming into town for APT or Taliesin, you’re super close. We hope to stay here again!

    Aaron2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location in downtown Spring Green. Spectacularly clean and all the right amenities fit perfectly into the space. This is a gem you’ll enjoy staying in. Thanks to Shawn and his family for a great stay.

  • This is probably the best Airbnb location in Spring Green. The unit is perfectly clean, charming, comfortable and has everything you need. The hosts were exceptionally responsive to the few minor requests we had. I would recommend their Airbnb to anyone looking for a spot in Spring Green. We were lucky to get a reservation--I'm sure it's a very popular space.

This historic jewel box suite designed by "the pencil in Mr. Wright's hand," boasts exclusive views of Taliesin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. "Beyond the Functional - into the Poetic," reads the 1959 House Beautiful description of Inwood, designed and built by Taliesin apprentice John Howe. Perched high on a rugged hill, this remote and serene space delights guests with its classic organic architecture, modern amenities and location. Come feel the magic of the Driftless Region.
This classic mid-century two bedroom/one bath guest suite will take your breath away. With its unparalleled, sweeping views and gorgeous architectural detail, guests are sure to love overlooking the Taliesin estate in the valley far below. Guests will enjoy their own spacious 1300 sq. ft. suite with a private exterior entrance. This unique guest suite is attached to host's home with a locked interior door to ensure utmost privacy and comfort. Step up into cozy bedroom #1 with its woodland, courtyard and waterfall views. Step down through a narrow stone stairwell into the Master bedroom with unforgettable views. Fabulous interior architectural elements throughout the home will delight the most discerning guests. Your guest suite is furnished throughout with an eclectic mix of modern style mixed with mid-century Frank Lloyd Wright designed furnishings. Entry through the exterior entrance requires good balance and mobility as guests must navigate a stone bridge and stone steps without any hand rails to reach the entry door. As is typical in Frank Lloyd Wright style homes, ceiling heights vary throughout. If you are tall and forget to stoop now and again when moving through the interior space, be forewarned. You will bump your head. The stone stairwell needed to access the lower of the two bedrooms is narrow, about 2 feet wide. The cottage was built in 1953 with an apprentice wing for visiting Taliesin apprentices added in the mid-sixties. The building techniques used at the time could best be described as experimental. Inwood's design was dictated by the landscape. It is perfectly sited in a natural, rustic, rural environment. It is a limit pushing sanctuary for city dwellers. Complex and serene, rustic yet elegant, Inwood requires an adventurous spirit. To reach your private deck, guests must carefully navigate natural limestone steps up the hill above the home. The views are incredible and there is seating for four. While one does not need to be an athlete to enjoy the property, it helps to be sure of foot and reasonably fit. Inwood is not commercial. It was not designed for public access or tours, nor is it a tourist attraction. Rather, It is a private midcentury home, designed by a renowned architect that is now available for guests to enjoy. It is the only home that overlooks Taliesin, located directly across the valley. It is built directly into a hillside, deep in the woods. It is built on rock and surrounded by rocks. The landscape is rugged. Exterior lighting is very limited. One cannot access any part of the home without having to climb up and down natural and uneven rock steps without any handrails. This minimizes access and maximizes privacy as was the architect's intent. All of these factors are purposeful so as to maintain the organic architectural integrity of the space. If you have mobility challenges such as difficulty climbing uneven steps without hand rails, this will not be your best vacation option. If living in the woods is scary to you, please book elsewhere. Do carefully consider all of these factors before booking. The space has a small kitchenette that includes a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and tea kettle with service for 4. There is no ice maker. If you want ice, you will need to bring it in your own cooler. There is no stove. There is no oven. There is no dishwasher. There is a propane grill outside. The space has a portable air conditioner that along with fans for air circulation, keeps the space cool during the summer. Due to the architectural details, ceiling/roof lines and age of the structure, there is no duct work in the unit. Guests have reported satisfaction with the portable heating and cooling systems in place. Your suite is surrounded by expansive grounds and woods ensuring utmost privacy. The suite's unique open floor plan consists of the entire original mid-century Howe designed cottage, called by some a "jewel box." Host's 1/2 mile-long winding, uphill driveway connects to a rural county road that will take you to a biking/hiking trail. Walk along the paved trail adjacent to State Highway 23 to the Visitor Center where Taliesin tours begin. Enjoy spectacular scenery along the route, including Unity Chapel, organically farmed fields and the Taliesin estate. There is a secondary vacation rental on site attached to host's home, however, there are no shared walls with this separate guest suite. Each suite has its own private outdoor deck/patio. It is not uncommon for both spaces to be rented. If you want absolute privacy you can rent the entire home. Please check out host's other listing for this opportunity. The home sits on approximately 10 acres of a wooded hillside. Pets are not allowed. Children can get lost. Host's 10 acres adjoins hundreds of acres of other privately owned woods and prairie. Tree frogs may sing you to sleep. Coyotes may howl at the moon in the middle of the night. You will waken to lively bird songs. You will likely not want to leave and wish you had planned for a longer stay.
Inwood offers exceptional privacy while centrally and conveniently located near area attractions. Enjoy a short, scenic 5 minute drive to the Visitor's Center where Taliesin tours begin. American Player's Theater, a preeminent Regional Theater, is a quick 2.5 mile drive. The Village of Spring Green is an easy 10 minute drive from your front door. Eco-tourism and geo-tourism related to the natural gifts of the surrounding Driftless Region are becoming increasingly popular. Wisconsin River recreation beckons from nearby Peck's Landing.

  • We came to Spring Green for a short, fall visit. We had great weather which made for a wonderful weekend. Tia gave us great tips for the area and we were able to enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views from the house. Lots of nature to be enjoyed - deer, eagles and a beautiful sunsets. The house was amazing and a great study in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. Would recommend this place to others.

  • The house is an architectural gem and fits in wonderfully with the Taliesin story. The views and the house itself are spectacular. There is not a better location to be had if you are interested in touring Taliesin, attending a play at APT or walking through the House on the Rock. We enjoyed a wonderful three days in the area and would gladly stay here again if we come through the area.

We love the quiet neighborhood and friendly community. We enjoyed checking out the sights of Taliesin and House on the Rock. Being a Monday and Tuesday we were disappointed that many of the local restaurants were closed but we did enjoy dinner at the Wisconsin Riverside Resort.

  • This small but ample guest suite is clean and attractive and well-appointed. Its location in the heart of Spring Green and within walking distance of the quaint little town was perfect. And, it's just a few miles from the House on the Rock and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Spring Green is a lovely and friendly town, with good restaurants and shopping. Dede and her family are friendly and welcoming, and their sweet dog and cat were a nice addition to our sense of feeling right at home.

  • Aaron's place is cute and cozy. The location is perfectly convenient whether you're there for House on the Rock, Frank Lloyd Wright, or any number of things within a small drive. The place is clean and comfy and blocks from an awesome dog park if you bring your dog. Aaron was incredibly responsive with any questions and easy to work with. We'll happily come back!

  • Our trip to the Burr Oak Inn was fantastic! The bed was incredibly comfy, the continental breakfast provided was so perfect, and the animals were so fun to interact with! Sandy had great recommendations for the area, and was so helpful throughout the trip. She gave us a tour of her property in the UTV, which was so cool. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

    Mk2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy's place provided a clean and quiet retreat from which to base our travels in the area during the fall art tour. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the space nicely located and quiet. Sandy was a very kind and gracious host and was a genuine pleasure to interact with during our brief stay.

  • Sparkling clean, more than I expected!

  • Sandy was very pleasant to talk to, she came out and met us when we initially pulled in introduced us to the dogs and the horses, the donkey even brayed as my daughter and I got out of the car! Very pleasant and accommodating, I would recommend Sandy‘s place to everyone!

  • We had a great stay! The decor is so cool with lots of amenities. Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous and delicious!

    Dani2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts, Daniel and Irina, are lovely people, very friendly and welcoming. Their home is uber clean. We were in the Rose Room, which was in the basement. We are (um, older) ladies and we loved the rose floral wallpaper. The Rose Room was an attractive space, with its beautiful curtains, lovely antique furniture and furnishings, comfortable queen bed and ever so soft bed linens. The floor was carpeted in what looked like Berber carpeting. The room has an ensuite bathroom with pedestal sink and tub/shower combo. The basement has its own thermostat, so you can adjust the HVAC. Also in the basement is a nice lounge area with comfy sofas, a large TV, and a powder room. The lounge was cozy and pleasant, with some steampunk light fixtures. The common areas upstairs are decorated everywhere with antique furniture and furnishings and steampunk items. We were new to steampunk and were glad to see that the hosts had books about steampunk so we could learn what it is. They had items that were unusual and just fascinating. You couldn't look anywhere without seeing something that you had to both ponder and admire. We saw a play at American Players Theatre and later that evening Irina played the harp for the guests. It was an enchanting experience. She is very talented. Daniel and Irina prepared a fresh and delicious breakfast. We appreciated the home's welcoming atmosphere and Daniel and Irina's ever present smiles. We will gladly return.

  • Daniel, his wife and staff were all outstanding. Everyone was very welcoming. The house was unique and beautiful. We felt very comfortable there. This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and wasn't too sure what to expect. Breakfast in the morning was one of the best we have ever had.

    Geri2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Steampunk Manor is a real treat! The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. All of your needs are met. Everywhere you turn there is something new to look at or enjoy in the space. Daniel is a great host that aims to please. The food that he and his wife made was unique and delicious! I did not go hungry! The food was homemade and we got to experience some Russian cuisine. Again, so delicious! We look forward to another trip to the Manor.

  • If you need a little more space than a single room or have an extended stay in town, do consider the 2 bedroom apartment. Its open living space has a kitchen with everything you need whether it's coffee first thing in the morning, reheating last night's "to go" box for lunch or fixing a meal. A great option in a lovely home with great hosts!

  • Great location for Frank Lloyd Wright fans, close to downtown Spring Green. Spotless apartment in the basement with its own entrance, open kitchen/dining room with lots of space, big table for card games and talk/relaxing. No television, but we didn't care about that. Very friendly host. Incredible Halloween decorations.

    Michael2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with friends in the apartment beneath the B&B and I cannot say enough good things about this place or these hosts. It was a Halloween dream come true. The home is beautiful and quirky and comfortable, but the best part was the hospitality. Everything was served with a personal touch. The owners very clearly love what they do and work hard to make it special. We opted for the Russian tea hour and were greeted with delicious tea and a beautiful spread shortly after we arrived. Breakfast was just incredible, do NOT miss! They gave us great recommendations for spots in the area and we had a ball. We'll be back to see how the home changes with the seasons and experience the themed rooms. Thank you again!

  • Large, comfortable space with eclectic a decorations. This 2-bedroom apartment was perfect for my group of four friends. Friendly hosts in the main house, and nice that there's a private entrance from the back. We'll definitely consider returning next time we're in Spring Green.

  • So enjoyed our stay and the apartment deco!!! Clean, and the best of anything!!

    Nancy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Steampunk Manor really exceeded all of our expectations. Irina was extremely welcoming and helpful. We booked the apartment space and it had just enough space for 5 guests with all of the amenities, cutlery, etc. we needed. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The porch is such a delight, especially at night, we spent so much time just talking and taking in the decor and lighting. It is conveniently located within walking distance from the shops and cafes of Spring Green as well as a short drive to Taliesin and House on the Rock. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This is our third stay with Shannon and Jeff. We keep coming back because the room is so comfy and beautiful, there are so many pleasant little touches, e.g., snacks, coffee maker, stocked fridge. Shannon is so sweet. We love talking to her and comparing notes on the plays at American Players Theater. We'll be back!

    Kathryn2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The best thing about staying here was the local guiding by Carolina. She made our whole weekend an adventure with great advice. The Usonian itself is quiet, comfortable and cozy. The style is a little different but everything is well kept and lovely. Come in with an open mind and you'll have an excellent stay.

  • Like any motel, you check in the front desk, get your key, and park in front of your room. Carolina provides a welcoming attitude and a clean, comfortable room. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling near the area.

    Cody2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a very nice stay. Carolina was very hospitable. The room was clean, cozy and a bit more stylish than staying in a chain hotel.

  • The UI is a wonderful place to stay with a great host. It is near spring green which makes it a quick travel to a great breakfast at the General Store as well as a strip of vendors down the street. Housekeeping is great as they do great efforts to keep their rooms clean. It is an historic place so don't expect it to be very modern. The only thing I can think of is how I'll come back to this place if I'm ever in the area. I love the area and how short of a drive it is to Mineral Point and Dodgeville. Highly recommend! Great TV for multiple devices too!

    Noah2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Usonian Inn is a lovingly updated classic motel with lovely details of design. It is very cozy, with easy entry and a fairly accessible bathroom (walk-in shower, no tub). Beautiful view over a meadow, but fronts on busy Hwy 14. Even so, it was sturdy and quiet. We will definitely return.

  • Cathy’s home is so amazing. The pictures you’re looking at on this site, while gorgeous, just don’t do it justice. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer! Cathy’s attention to detail is superb, and we immediately felt so comfortable and ready to enjoy the weekend. From the beautiful quiet mornings with a cup of coffee and sunrise views to the unforgettable nights in the cozy living room playing board games, Dunhaven is a wonderful experience. Big Valley Ranch's Log Cabin sits hilltop on our 1000 acre property. Fifty + miles of trails are yours to discover on foot or by mountain or fat bike, snow shoe, or horseback. The Log Cabin is one of four homes on Big Valley Ranch and features two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, living room, patio with dining area, and it's very own rock formed fire pit. The rustic cabin decor and windows in every room reminds you whether inside or out, you are surrounded by nature.
The Log Cabin has one bedroom on the main floor. The second bedroom is lofted above the kitchen and dining area. The loft has a unique log wood ladder to get to the 2nd bedroom (no stairs). The Cabin is decorated in a rustic woods nature with a few mounted animals in the living room. There is an outdoor patio with seating for dinner as well as a propane grill (we provide the propane). The Cabin has a brand new heating and air conditioning unit which makes this property available year-round. Firewood is available upon purchase.
We are in the middle of the country surrounded by forests, hills, valleys, and few street lights.
  • This was an extremely beautiful and quiet cabin! Lots of open space, a great kitchen and a really comfy lofted bed. The kitchen is very well stocked - a nice oven, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The cabin was easy to get to, our gps directed us exactly where we needed to be. The stars were INCREDIBLE! I haven't seen so many in a very long time. Would absolutely visit again!

    Anthony2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful private location! The cabin was a great blend of modern and rustic and featured just about anything you might want for a quiet getaway. The mixed use land around the property was the perfect "yard". Hiking right outside the door and views in every direction! Kitchen was well stocked and spaces clean in general. The only thing I might change is I could have done without all the mounted taxidermy stuff. Would definitely return!

    Lindsey2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Big Valley Ranch house was the perfect place to stay for our visit to Taliesin. Tucked away in the rolling hills, the setting is secluded, quiet and absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen is nicely provisioned and the cabin is clean and very comfortable. This is a great place to stay if you want a relaxing getaway. We loved it!

    Carol2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Big Valley Ranch house is clean, is well appointed, and provides a lot of peace and quiet. It is located about 10-15 minutes away from Spring Green on a ranch with gorgeous rolling hills. There are hiking paths on site and you’re closeby to the Wisconsin River. I would absolutely stay here for a quiet weekend away.

    Daniel2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Big Valley Ranch is such a great getaway. Peaceful & sunlit, we sat by the fire, drank wine and made a great meal in the well appointed kitchen. The bed in the loft upstairs was completely dreamy & the view of the sun coming up over the snowy valley in the morning was breathtaking. Everything was tasteful and comfy. Did I mention the sunlight??? No neighbors (except all the deer). Great bookstore in Spring Green & a little grocery & hardware store for provisions, but not much else, which was just what we wanted. Drives along the half-frozen mighty Wisconsin River...God’s Country for sure!

    Bridget2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I texted some friends the view from the front porch, and they probably thought I had just taken a screen shot of a postcard. This cabin and property were as wonderful as they appeared in the listing, making us very comfortable for our 3-day weekend. The setting is beautiful. We didn't even use the fire pit or TV because there's so much to do in the area. We'd love to make a week of it next time and just enjoy the trail, porch, patio, cabin, and stars. Although we ate most meals in Spring Green, the cabin's kitchen is well equipped for cooking. The weather was nice and we didn't try out the spiffy new central A/C. We had a quarter moon and found it easy to get around. I would advise anyone driving in the driftless area to print a basic road map because mobile signal can be spotty, but that's all we needed to locate the cabin, and we learned the roads quickly. Delightful experience and great get-away.

Aldebaran Farm is an historic property just south of Spring Green, Wisconsin. It was owned by Frank Lloyd Wright's uncle James Lloyd Jones, and Wright spent many boyhood summers living here and working on the farm. From his bedroom window he could see the site where he later built his masterpiece Taliesin.
The house can accommodate up to 12 guests. There are four bedrooms, plus a sleeping porch and a large upstairs loft where kids love to camp in their sleeping bags. There are bathrooms on each floor, a fully equipped kitchen, a large limestone fireplace, and a huge oak dining table that can seat ten for dinner.
The neighborhood is the best part. The gorgeous valley where Frank Lloyd Wright chose to build his home is undeveloped and unspoiled, due to careful land planning and the influence of the Taliesin foundation. The property is ideally located just across the road from Taliesin, minutes from the Wisconsin River, over the hill from the renowned American Players Theatre and the Springs, a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course.
  • Michael has a fabulous place, right in a beautiful area of Wisconsin with rolling hills, next to the Wisconsin River, able to see Taliesin in the back ground. Even the inside of the farmhouse was with the Frank Lloyd Wright essence. My family loved staying there. We were able to enjoy our time eating, talking, exploring,... I highly recommend this home to families who want to enjoy a beautiful area of Wisconsin. Thanks

  • This was an exceptional house, in a very historic location. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

    Joanne2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Love the house. Plenty of room for 5 of us, and a great place for dinner parties. Walking distance to Taliesen . Host communication was great. Check in and check out was very easy.

    Aeron2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • A charming house with expectacular views. Very close to Taliesen and to town.

    Mireya2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s place was a retreat for a long weekend with friends and to see plays at APT. Other than going to the plays we did not leave the property much as we loved the views and the serenity of the house and grounds. The house is an old farmhouse and the grounds are just magnificent. We had cocktail hour on the front porch and the side porch and ate most of our meals outside . It was just as advertised and we had a wonderful time.

    Walter2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Michael is a great host. His communication is rapid and accurate. The location is beautiful and overlooks Taliesin. The house is as described: it's an older farmhouse but is very clean and well kept. The stairs to the second floor are very steep (as described). We had a very pleasant stay and will return.

    Janet2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the farm and would recommend it to others. The house is very spacious; the living room, dining and kitchen areas are laid out well and are perfect for cooking and entertaining. The interior has a rich history and unconventional design. There’s a great selection of books scattered throughout. The best part was the fireplace in the heart of the home - we put it to good use during the blustery winter evenings!

    Mary2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place. The cabin is gorgeous and well set up for group hangouts. The fireplace was especially wonderful. Our car died as we were trying to leave and Linda and Michael were both so sweet and understanding and let us stay until our triple a could come. Can't wait to come back. :)

  • We had such a fabulous experience last year that we booked a room again this year at Steampunk Manor---and brought our friends along to stay in a second room. Our three nights there were as wonderful as we had remembered from last year. The house is fabulous--meticulously decorated in a Steam Punk theme and filled with stunning antiques, scrupulously clean, filled with every amenity we could imagine, and hosted by warm, kind, generous owners who work incredibly hard to make all of their guests' stays unforgettable. The three-course breakfasts, with beautiful table decor, are so delicious and filling that we couldn't eat again until early evening.. Daniel and Irina also offer late-night snacks and drinks for a reasonable charge, and the late-night snacks are better than you would find in most restaurants, including bacon-wrapped dates, spinach-artichoke dip with homemade biscuits, shrimp, a fabulous salad, and delicious jalapeño poppers. We've never stayed anywhere as enjoyable, relaxing, and pampering as Steampunk Manor.

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath With Unique Architectural Features- Secluded ranch on the 12th fairway of The House on the Rock Golf Course. Light-filled with views of the valley. American Players Theatre and Taliesin down the road; the Wisconsin River and village of Spring Green minutes away. Enjoy the birds and wildlife surrounding the home. Swimming, fishing and kayaking on the Wisconsin River is 2 miles away. Wander in Spring Green, exploring its many unique shops, cafes, bookstore and art galleries.
In 2013, I purchased this property. I was learning to golf and am an admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural style. When I learned this house was the first "model home" built for the resort and was designed by Wright's chief draughtsman, John Howe, I became even more thrilled! The home is unique to The House On the Rock Resort complex. It is independent of the resort but is part of it's former history. I have moved farther north of the SG region but my family and I love the house and want to continue to enjoy it as well as share it with others! The first thing I notice about the property is the gorgeous tall pines surrounding it. Once inside the house, the view outside towards the golf course is spectacular. The outside comes inside through the expanse of windows! The space feels serene, open and light. The screen porch and patio brings one even closer to nature. I love sitting there and listening to the spring peepers--or frogs! So many birds frequent my yard-bluebirds nest in the bird house, grosbeaks at the feeders. In the winter I have deer come right up to my windows. I also have noticed coyotes in the snow frolicking!
The house as adjacent to The House on the Rock Resort. You will experience the beautiful natural landscape as well as gardens cultivated by the resort. A wall of windows overlooks the beautiful golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. There are ponds and a variety of trees and plantings which bring migrating birds and other wildlife close to the property. Enjoy the birds and wildlife surrounding the home or take a short drive to Tower Hill State park for hiking and to see the Historic Shot Tower. Swimming, fishing and kayaking on the Wisconsin River is 2 miles away. Wander in Spring Green, noted as one of the 20 top small towns by Smithsonian Magazine, exploring its many unique shops, cafes, bookstore and art galleries.
  • This is our third year at this property. It’s a special spot and lends itself to a fantastic family gathering.

    Jennifer2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This Prairie-style home located on a secluded mound overlooking one of the holes of the golf course at the House on the Rock Resort was perfect for our two couples. It is very close to the American Players Theatre (our reason for being in the area), Taliesin, Spring Green, Gov. Dodge and Tower State Parks. The house is immaculate, cozy and very well appointed and supplied. The setting is peaceful and quiet. There was a doe and her fawn grazing at the edge of the golf hole when we arrived in the early evening and a constant stream of birds at the two feeders in the yard during the daytime. The owner’s communication was outstanding and the self check in process with a key in a lock box was great. We will definitely try to stay here again on our annual weekend of plays at the APT.

    Paul2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a wonderful place. The birds were amazing. The house is ample and beautifully decorated. Very quiet and secluded.

  • Spacious, comfortable, beautiful house close to the theatre and much more. We like to stay here every time we come to town.

  • Judith’s home is in the perfect location for attending plays at the American Players Theatre, golfing at the Springs, or just exploring the area. The home is well equipped for cooking, sleeping five adults comfortably and having space to share meals and time together. Her attention to detail makes this a get-away that is clean and cozy.

    Patty2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's home was lovely and the surroundings breathtaking. The house was immaculate and outfitted with anything you might need. We cooked or grilled out on the patio every night during our stay. The kitchen was nicely equipped. Can't say enough wonderful things about this home! We'll be BACK!

    Cyn2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's home is a hidden treasure, esp. if you enjoy golf, nature and theatre. This was our 3rd year in her home and hopefully we will have the opportunity to do it again in 2019.

  • A nice place to stay. It's a motel, albeit a bit of an unusual one, having been designed by a Wright disciple. It feels home and comfortable.

    John2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A mid-century time pod! This little motel's cool design is a visual treat. On the practical side, I appreciated environmental choices such as supplying a big bottle of shampoo instead of wasteful one-use packets. The hotel is on a highway, but not a busy one--and the good windows keep out a lot of noise. It was a quiet night. And the area is gorgeous, with interesting things to see (indie bookstore & cafe, GIANT WHALE at House on the Rock), and good places to eat.

  • The Usonian is a lovely place with a private view to a meadow in back. This Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired motel is well designed and very comfortable. It is located right on the highway, so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs.

  • This is not my first stay here. It’s easy to get in and out. The rooms are very spacious and laid out well. You have a Fridge and microwave, albeit I didn’t use them. She sells a number of wines and beers from her home country and they are pretty dam good. The Pinot Noir I tried was actually very very good. The rooms are also very quiet. You do hear some road noise but it’s not enough to be of concern. They are in the process of renovate number of rooms and the new renovations are nice. USB hook up by alarm clock, weather data on alarm clock which is really nice and convenient.

Two quiet bedrooms in a character-filled charming four-square. Incredibly convenient to everything a traveler to Spring Green might want. The General Store, the library, pharmacy, and grocery store are all less than a block away. American Players Theatre, Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, The House on the Rock and local farm stands are all just minutes away.
Perhaps it's not prudent to have an emotional relationship with a house, but I do so love this lovely old gem, and the more time I spend there, the more I'm reminded why. She features gorgeous woodwork, pocket doors between the entryway and the living room, and character & soul that you won't find in modern houses. That being said, she is a work in progress, so perfection isn't to be expected. The front porch is lovely to sit on and watch the passersby. We're on the main street in town, but it's such a quiet little town, that it makes for a wonderful place to sit back with a drink and relax in a quintessential Spring Green way.
Downtown Spring Green is a very quiet and quaint, and absolutely charming. The grocery store, pharmacy, ATM, library, and the General Store are all within a block. There are several great dining options, as well as a variety of shopping choices all within blocks of our home.
  • Great location in a comfortable house with character and quirky charm. Walk to shops and restaurants in this wonderful small town.

  • Such a convenient venue tucked in downtown that will make it so easy to walk to bookstores, restaurants, stores, or artist venues!

  • Davin's place is clean and comfortable, with nice spaces for hanging out together and a good kitchen for fixing meals or snacks. It's a very short walk to downtown and other eating spots, a great place for a group like ours that was going to two nights of plays in Spring Green. He's still working on fixing it up, so some areas show work in progress, but everything is tidy and very workable for guests.

    Mary Ann2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly located steps from a wonderful independent bookstore, and fun shopping and breakfast options in Spring Green, Davin's historic house is just minutes away from Taliesin and the American Players Theater. Full amenities are provided in the kitchen. The house is very clean and nicely decorated. It's a restoration work in process, but everything needed is in place for an enjoyable stay. Davin was incredibly responsive and helpful to us.

    Ann2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Davin is a wonderful host and his place is absolutely charming. It is very comfortable and immaculately clean. It’s also a handsome old house in the process of being lovingly restored which makes it a very fun place to be. The house has many amenities and welcoming touches and feels like a happy home. It is located in the heart of Spring Green in walking distance to interesting shops and restaurants. Davin is a great communicator and provides excellent tips about the neighborhood. Taliesin, the Frank Lloyd Wright property, is 5 minutes down the road which is what drew us to the area. Having been there now, I can say that we’d love to go back and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else!

    Alison2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, convenient and charming! We enjoyed a relaxing weekend in Spring Green. Shopping, groceries, restaurants, and coffee all within blocks. A highlight of our stay was being able to walk to the farmers market to get local produce and make a picnic for an American Players Theater production.

  • Davin’s place is an excellent home for anybody looking to stay in Spring Green. The central location is unbeatable. We enjoyed thoughtful touches from the host and spent our evening playing board games on the porch. We will absolutely be back!

Big Valley Ranch is located in Avoca, WI. Approximately 50 minutes from Madison. A very scenic location in the middle of the driftless region of hills, valleys, farmland and forest.
We are in the middle of the country. If you can get here before dark, please do! There are few street lights which make stargazing an amazing feature of our property, but driving in the pitch dark is not so pleasant. There is also lots of wildlife, specifically deer to watch out for as well.
  • We loved staying at the Big Valley Ranch. A beautiful house and a beautiful property. Hiking trails all over. The check in procedures were simple. Not much information about the check out procedures. Overall a great place to spend a long weekend with friends!

  • This place is AWESOME! So much space for our group of 10. The views from the deck are spectacular and peaceful. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook all your meals in. Plenty of seating in the kitchen for our large group as well. The beds and lines were nice and the decor was definitely unique! We loved sitting on the deck in the morning with of coffee watching the horses walk by and sitting out by the fire at night. The wifi does not work (or at least we couldn't get it to) and cell service is spotty - but that was the point of being there! We will definitely rent this place again next fall.

  • Amazing cabin in the woods. We rented it for a family get together, everyone loved it, the only negative was that the internet did not work and we had almost no cell phone reception but that just helped keep people off their phones and encouraged them to spend time playing board games, hiking and just enjoying time together.

  • Its a great place to rent out for you and your family.

  • Our family vacation at the Big Valley Ranch, in the Barn House was great! It is so big, there was room for everyone. It is just like the photos, only larger and so many more details everywhere you look. The view is great. So quite and relaxing, we spent one evening on the deck just listening to nature and star gazing. The family had so much fun in the saloon game room. Great place for a family vacation.

    Gaytha2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome! A group of us came and everyone had plenty of room. There are lots of trails, games, and other things to do. There are only a couple things I would mention: 1.) Upstairs, the AC was not working too well but they had plenty of fans so it was fine! 2.) The hot tub didn’t work, but there was plenty of other things to do so it didn’t matter too much. 3.) Both fridges in the saloon could use some attention, one didn’t work at all and the other didn’t get too cold. 4.) We hardly saw anyone else on the property, but there are 3/4 other homes that are available for rent. The bathroom for the nearby bunkhouse that others can rent was right below the barn. These things were very minor, but I wish it would have stated this stuff in the listing. Overall, an awesome place with spectacular views and outdoor spaces. The inside of the house was impressively decorated.

    Thomas2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to hang out with your family. There are lots of things for all ages. Our family range is 1 to 80 years and everyone came away happy. The barn seems even bigger then it looks in the photos and with all the little touches makes it very special. It felt like living in another time.

    Gregg2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic place for a fun family gathering. Plenty of activities for us to do together. Plenty of space if that is preferred. The aesthetics are incredible.

  • Great place! Super comfy beds!

    Vicky2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great stay at the Ranch! There was more than enough space for everyone and we could have stayed for weeks with all the fun things to do around the house. Mitch and the crew were very quick to respond to any questions we had. We will definitely be back to the best Airbnb ever!

    Claire2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mitch's place was fantastic! Great interiors and activities on the property made for a very enjoyable stay. Plenty of beds and common areas to spread out. Would definitely stay again!

  • This place is beautiful and wonderfully managed by Nancy. This is the third year in a row we have come with our friends and each time on arriving, we just feel happiness on our arrival. The house is excellently laid out for two couples, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, each paired on a separate floor. The common spaces include a downstairs living area, dining area (with a large table, kitchen, a deck with table for four, and a fire pit among many other things. The house is well supplied, (lots of kitchen utensils/supplies, a grill, binoculars for viewing birds, and lots more. Nancy has always been very responsive to any questions we have had. (Note, I think a few additional people could comfortably stay given an upstairs loft space, and the very large living room area, but we just come as two couples.) We generally can send texts but don't get phone or wifi reception, a plus from our perspective, but something to be aware of. The property itself is beautiful, with a lovely walk through woods to a pond, and a beautiful meadow filled with wildflowers. This large meadow is the view from the living room, dining room and deck. As we were leaving the property to head home, we were already discussing how we would be back again and extend our stay next summer by a couple of more days.

    Alan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to go if you want perfect quiet and a few of the starry night sky. To me, it was the perfect vacation - 4 hikes, 3 swims, 3 bicycling, and 2 culture (American Players Theatre and Taliesin). Thank you Nancy!

    Diane2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing prairie views with birdsong and wildlife. Very close to all the Spring Green arts amenities and the Wisconsin River. It made a for a quiet world away from the city. Wonderful, spacious home.

  • Beautiful views, comfortable accommodations, responsive host!

    Cady2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to spend a weekend with friends! We were not disappointed. I especially loved the mowed path in the edge of the woods. I wish I could walk that path every morning. This location was tidy, spacious and beautiful. It's obvious its proprietor takes pride in keeping it lovely for everyone who comes by.

    Rachel2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the heart of the Wyoming Valley! Beautiful, wide, mowed trails traverse throughout the property which we were able to explore during the beautiful fall season. The house was plenty big for our small family of three. House was clean and tidy; all of the home essentials were provided. Strange to mention in a review but the water tasted amazing! Tons of windows provided a perfect view of the gorgeous hillsides. We wish it was a bit warmer out so we could have enjoyed the huge deck and patio; perhaps next time!

    Mike2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is an entire valley and you are the only two legged creatures around. Wildlife abounds and I would suggest you bring good binoculars to see the surroundings. There are some there but mine were better and very popular with our group. An excellent bookcase for naturalists and miles of paths to explore. I spotted numerous birds including a pair of brown thrashers in the spruce out front. No WiFi and cell is weak so be prepared to put the phones down and talk. Nice kitchen and comfortable beds. It is a wonderful place and we will return.

  • The host and hostess go way above and beyond to make your stay OUTSTANDING. The rooms have just those little touches to make them special. The area is fun and relaxing. But the food...oh my gosh, if you leave the table hungry, go see a doctor you when you get home because you must have a bug or something!! Most B&B offer up breakfast and you eat what they serve, but not here, you get choices, what a novelty!! Trust me, this place is the BOMB DIGGITY, Must Go Destination. And if you love Halloween, then you have to go to see what they do with the place/décor then.

    Joy2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible experience. This is an outstanding BnB. Great decor, clean and comfy room, friendly owners and an exceptional three-course breakfast. We stayed two nights and were delighted with different a breakfast each day. We arrived as the owners were putting the final touches on their incredible Halloween decorations. So much fun!

  • Highly recommend! We had such an amazing time staying at the Steampunk Manor Bed & Breakfast! it truly was an escape into fantasy! The decorations were ingenious, thoughtful and impeccable! Not only was the house beautiful, the food was meticulously delicious! please stay here if you plan on visiting House on the Rock, you will not be disappointed!

  • Clean and comfortable room. The food is nothing short of amazing, every course of breakfast and evening snack we had was fantastic. Erin made us feel very welcome and valued as guests. My wife and I would travel the 3+ hours to JUST stay at steampunk manor again, the local attractions are an added bonus.

  • Really enjoyed our stay. Wonderful hospitality

    Abby2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay, fantastic room and well thought out house and amenities. Oh, and a breakfast that will knock your socks off. If you are visiting any of the sites in the area (e.g. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin, house on the rock) this is the perfect place to come back to for the evening. 5 stars is an understatement.

    Brian2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best B'n'B stay I've ever had. The building is gorgeous, the rooms and decor are beautiful, and so much thought, love and care went into every detail of the place, you can just feel it. Our hosts were kind and generous, too - we felt very pampered the whole time we were there! Thank you so much for the great experience, Dan!

Gracious country estate overlooks Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Original cottage designed and built in the mid-fifties by Apprentice John Howe, "the pencil in Mr. Wright's hand." In the mid-sixties, Mr. Howe added an upper level wing for visiting guests. An additional two-story wing was built in the late-eighties, completing the home you see today. The home has six bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms on multiple levels with stone, glass and wood throughout.
This spectacular home is tucked into a hillside and situated on 10 private, wooded acres. It is located 1/2 mile off a country road. The winding, gravel driveway is somewhat steep with potholes here and there. Drive slowly and with care. The payoff emerges at the top. There is plenty of parking. Satellite internet and dish cable typically work well though cell reception is sketchy and not reliable. The home is located one mile from the Visitor's Center where Frank Lloyd Wright estate tours begin. APT and the House on the Rock championship golf resort are a bit over 2 miles away. Spring Green is a 15 minute drive in one direction with the House on the Rock roadside attraction located 15 minutes in the other direction. State parks, Driftless Region scenery, lots of wildlife and mosquitos in the summer months. Tree frogs sing frequently in the spring. Nice bird watching. The home offers three levels, each with 2 bedrooms and one bath. It is an ideal location for family/friend gatherings or multiple couples.
The Driftless Region landscapes are breathtaking. The home epitomizes organic architecture. If you're too busy running around seeing the sites, you'll miss out on the experience of relaxing at home. If you are able, I suggest you add a day with no plans.
  • The house is beautiful, well-appointed, very comfortable, and perfectly located to enjoy the magic of Spring Green, including Taliesin, American Players Theater, and all the wonders of the Driftless region of Wisconsin. Tia and Greg are gracious hosts, and we felt privileged to be their guests. we definitely hope to return on our next visit to Spring Green,

    Laurie2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tia's Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home is an exceptional place. The house and the views are stunning. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the kitchen is well-equipped. Tia met us and went over the home and it's history in detail which was also wonderful. There are many special touches in the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens.

    Fully-renovated 1890s cabin located on a 60+ acre farmette.
Escape to the rolling hills of Southwest Wisconsin to this fully-renovated 1890s cabin. Located on a 60+ acre farmette, this charming cabin gives you access to the biking, hiking, and art of Spring Green, Devil's Lake, and other unique communities or the option of remaining on the property to fish in the trout stream, hike the hills, snowmobile or cross-country ski on miles of adjoining trails, sit around the campfire, or simply relax on the porch watching wildlife and sunsets. The cabin has radiant floor heat, is air conditioned, has a small kitchenette (electric burners, microwave, no oven), private bathroom with shower, and wireless internet. A gas grill and fire pit are available. The farm has a barn from 1895, a main home built in 1923, many apple trees, hiking trails, a spring, and a significant hill with marvelous views of quaint Bear Valley. Local food, artisan cheesemakers, wineries, Amish farms, county and state parks, Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesen, American Players Theater, and House on the Rock are all within a half hour of the property. Madison is less than an hour away. Breakfast and local guide options available. Make this your private weekend cabin or a longer-term retreat.

Madison is less than an hour away. Breakfast and local guide options available.
  • The cabin is in a lovely setting, surrounded by farm land and hills and woods. It is closer to the main house than I expected from the photo, but it feels private because the windows face away from the house. The hosts were out of town, but very easy to communicate with. They left us a dozen fresh eggs in the fridge, and provided 2 nice camp chairs and a heavy quilt, and some materials to start a winter bonfire in the fire pit. I think the hosts' description, and the other reviews provide an accurate expectation. The cabin is rustic, and it has a small kitchen with a portable electric burner and a small refrigerator/freezer, and is stocked with the necessary kitchen wares. The bed was comfortable, nice pillows and blankets, and even a heated blanket.

The view from the home and fire pit is so beautiful. Can't wait to go back again - it was a little slice of heaven.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the FL Wright room! Breakfast was huge and scrumptious, we were offered a whole menu of choices, and Daniel’s “surprise” plate was creative and delicious. The beautiful house is packed with character, with lots of fun things to look at. The only thing I’d warn about is that our bathroom’s shower head was quite low (due to the roofline), so tall people would be uncomfortable there. We are all 5’9” and under, so we were fine. (The other three rooms have a different bathroom.)

  • Steampunk Manor is like visiting a fantasy world. It is charming, welcoming (even though the fantastic Halloween decor was a bit intimidating upon arriving) and filled with treasures, the best treasure being the gracious hospitality. The Halloween decor outside and in is stage-worthy. You will be greeted by Major Duomo (I think he is 8 ft) as you enter Steampunk Manor, who dwarfs Daniel, your host. I booked the Frank Lloyd Right Room, which had an aeronautical decor so a great play on the Wright Bros. Comfortable and great location for visiting House on the Rock and Taliesin. Don't sleep in and miss the fab breakfast!

    Victoria2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • My college classmate and I had a wonderful experience at this Airbnb! It is obvious that the couple that runs this place really love to entertain. The Halloween decorations were over the top and really fun! The food and beverages were awesome as well. Thanks so much for an awesome stay! We plan to come back again!

While this home sits on its own 11 acres, it comes with access to host's 80 acres of private recreational property just across the road, with one of the top trout streams in the nation. In the area for a summer wedding, this is a great place to stay as it is close to many of the local wedding venues. American Players Theater is a few miles from the home. The Frank Lloyd Wright estate is visible from the property, though trees provide a privacy barrier from the front patio that block your immediate view when leaves are on. If you're an architectural buff, don't miss out on the opportunity to drive to some of the finest local Wright and/or Wright-like architecture in America. Spring Green proper offers up apprentice designed buildings on the main drag. Richland Center, about a 20 minute drive from Spring Green, features Wright's "German Warehouse" as well as some of the loveliest residential architectural in small town America. The Wyoming Valley Cultural Center, formerly the Wyoming Valley Elementary School, designed by Wright as an elementary school for local children is a five minute drive from home. If you are able to spend precious time with nothing to do but listen, look and ponder, you'll leave refreshed. Pace yourself and sit awhile.
  • I highly recommend a stay at this house. We stayed for two nights while in town visiting family for Christmas. The location, the view and the house itself were beautiful and very peaceful. It was a great escape from the holiday hustle and bustle. It was hard to leave at the end of our stay. We will definitely be back.

  • What a fascinating place in a fascinating area of The Driftless! Like other places in the area it was built in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, which made it all the more interesting. It is very close to the FLW Visitor Center, Taliesan, and the Unity Chapel and gravesite. There are hiking trails nearby as well as a state park. And the little town of Spring Green has lots of sweet little shops and nice shopkeepers. We will be back!

  • This exquisite home offered everything we needed and much more than we had imagined. It is an astoundingly beautiful, unique home built in the Wright aesthetic, and the view in its carefully considered location could not be more enchanting. When we arrived, Greg was there to meet us and show us around the home; he could not have been more gracious. This was a peak Airbnb experience!

  • Our stay was wonderful! The view was awe inspiring and the home was so cozy and comfortable. We were there to see a show at APT and celebrate a birthday and I can’t think of a better spot to have done so. We will definitely be coming back!

  • This was our second trip to the cabin and it was as beautiful and restful as the first visit. Two days is not enough, so I recommend booking for longer to have time to enjoy the scenery around the cabin as well as the attractions in town.
