  • It’s a nice cabin with a great view. Close to town and some really good hunting. Sean was excellent to work with, gave quick responses, and was understanding with changes. Definitely worth checking out, we enjoyed our stay there.

Our cabins are located on the Brule River in Alvin, WI. We have 1200 feet of frontage and 5 acres of property with mowed trails in the summer and able to be snowshoed on in the winter. Located directly on the snowmobile trail and close to Ski Brule. We are 10 minutes from Iron River, MI and 30 minutes from Eagle River, WI. In the summertime, we have a shared firepit, and outdoor grills to cook on
  • Great cabin for 3 of us!

  • Loved this place! Stayed here for a trip to Ski Brule and couldn’t have been happier. Hosts were very quick to respond with any questions. Perfect for a couple or a small family. Very cozy. Would recommend!

  • Great! Place to stay for snowmobiling. You have the best of both worlds on the border of U. P. Michigan and Wisconsin.

  • Cute little clean cabins in the remote Northwoods. We came to snowshoe for the weekend and had a wonderful time. Will return. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Bobbie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cozy cabin with the river as a back drop. Is conveniently located between Eagle river and Iron River.

    Gretchen2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent find. I would highly recommend staying at this cabin if you want to get off the beaten path and yet be near Ski Brule and a local plowed road. You do need to keep in mind that they use a hot water system that is on demand. I think this is wonderful but you need to be prepared since everyone is used to a hot water tank. Brian was great and everything was exactly as explained. Winter Wonderland in Wisconsin if you are looking for that!

  • This was perfect. I thought before we got there it would be too small but there was plenty of room for us especially outside. It was a gorgeous view, so peaceful, and you can’t see or hear any neighbors. A good value and easy communication with Linda the owner.

    Mara2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Beautiful and relaxing!

    Arrien2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The setting is beautiful and the duplex is well equipped. We enjoyed the kayaks and appreciated all the seating. It was a terrific setup for a family reunion.

  • We had a great week! Very nice!

    Craig2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Clean, check out/in was very easy. Communication was excellent. Secluded gem on the lake to stay at! Best part...no cell servic for majority of us. AMAZING for a weekend without it! Highly recommend.

    Andy2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The setup is very welcoming. The fishing is great. The location is beautiful. The only complaint we had was from the teenage, whom had a hard time without WiFi or cell service, but the rest of us enjoyed the opportunity to unplug for the weekend.

    Christopher2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time renting this place. The first day we were there the kids ran down to the docks to fish. We are 3 families totaling 11. The youngest in our group caught more fish then we can count. She pulled one after another for a good hour. They had a blast being able to see the fish off the dock in the clear waters. We did a family kayak one night. The waters are so clear you can almost always see the bottom. We had family from Florence come down for supper 2 nights that we stayed. There was more than enough room for us all. I think for us adults our favorite was our 3 pots of coffee ever morning on the point watching the loons. We would most definitely recommend for a family or large group. And would most definitely stay again. Thanks again to Linda for renting to us.

  • Can't say enough good things about this wonderful place. It is clean, cozy and well maintained. The grounds are impeccably kept and the location quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. John is an excellent host, always available for your needs. I highly recommend this Airbnb, and will use it again and again.

    Debra2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a great getaway with beautiful scenery.

    Rodney2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Johns place! Perfect for us to bike and kayak around iron mountain and crystal falls area. Very close to the main recreational trail. We loved the sun porch for coffee in the morning and relaxing at night watching the deer and turkeys eat :) A perfect country place! Also loved the coffee percolator- wow did that make good coffee!! Thanks for the binder of local tips too!

    Willa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • John was an amazing host. He welcomed us at the door. He gave us all the necessary details in a not shell and gave us complete privacy. The house was spotless clean. We found everything we need in house ( clean shower, great kitchen and utensils, great living room etc). We'll absolutely stay there if we come back to Michigan next year.

  • Darby was a wonderful host. Friendly, helpful and gracious. The property is absolutely gorgeous and on one of the most beautiful lakes in the area. We only left this morning and we're already talking about coming back next summer.

    Kyle2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Small but cute. Darby went out of her way to help us, delightful and quirky.

    Matt2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Darby's cabin. She is so friendly and has a lovely energy. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for - quiet, clean, and in a great location. There are 2 fire pits and a grill for your use, along with paddleboats, kayaks, and a row boat off of 2 private beaches. We brought along our dog who normally is shy of strangers, but took to Darby immediately. We will definitely be back.

    Stephanie2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect little gem for your northwoods getaway. We are a family of 4, plus our dog, and went for a long weekend at the end of August. The space is cute and quaint. It has everything you may need in the kitchen -stove, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and pots and pans. Charcoal grill is available as well. The beds are comfy and even without air conditioning we were very comfortable sleeping with the windows open and listening to the amazing sounds of the loons. The lake is outstanding - it’s quiet and beautiful with plenty to do, paddle boats, kayaks, sand beaches. There is a fire pit both by the cabin as well as down by the water, which made for a beautiful view while eating s’mores. 👍. Darby and her husband are fantastic hosts! They are kind and hospitable, their only wish is that you come and enjoy your stay. My only tip to other guests traveling with families / kids where there are multiple guests using the space is Being an older smaller cabin, you can’t overwhelm the septic system. Too many toilet flushes in a row, along with sinks and showers running can cause a temporary water back up. It was very minor and more just us being aware of it, and respecting the space. If you are thinking of booking this little oasis, don’t hesitate! We will definitely be back next year! Thanks again Darby!!

    Dana2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time during our stay! The best part was definitely access to the private beaches. The lake is exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely recommend the cabin for a relaxing time in the beautiful north woods!!

    Anthony2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was the perfect place for a family vacation. It is very rustic and quite small, but if you’re looking for a landing place for hundreds of upper peninsula excursions, this is the place to book. Darby is a wonderful host, she went out of her way several times to accommodate us, but wasn’t at all intrusive or overbearing. The beach is the best part of this rental. Very private, clearwater sandy shore, kayaks, paddle boats, and a platform out in deep water. Like I said, the cabinet self is small. But there are great vintage appliances and a bathroom and a bedroom with a queen size bed and a bunkbed. We spent most of our time either on the property or out exploring the UP, so we didn’t mind the small quarters. We wanted a combination of very rustic, but also with a bathroom, kitchen, and Wi-Fi. Thank you so much for providing this gem. We are already planning to come back.

  • We had a great weekend!! We were able to bring our dogs and they had plenty of room to run and swim! We loved using the kayaks and we got to see deer, turkeys, lions and an eagle! Darby was great! Super prompt with replies and very helpful with area suggestions. Cabin is small, but has everything you need. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

    Kelly2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Darby was a lovely host! The woods, lake and water amenities were wonderful! We enjoyed our interactions with Darby, her husband and nephew. Accommodations are not modern, but more than adequate. Beds were very clean and super comfortable, I had an amazing nights sleep! My kids loved the paddle boat, kayaks and fishing. For a peaceful, no frills break from reality, check Darby’s place out!

  • A very pleasant surprise. I value quiet more than I value just about anything in lodging. The location is away from any main roads, but still easy to get to. The owners are quiet. The countryside is quiet. Well kept and clean. Two very spacious and well appointed bedrooms (one was really nicy painted and decorated!!). A LARGE full bathroom. A full kitchen with plates, cooking utensils, eating utensils, pots, pans, etc. Everything you need to make your own meals. Full refrigerator/freezer. Normal size microwave. Oven and range. Large living area with big screen TV. And.... bring your dogs with you. Great place. Will stay there again.

    Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Barbara’s country retreat. It was nice being situated on the second story and being able to look out the front deck with entrance. It was everything we needed. Simple and close the location we wanted to be. She accommodated our dogs which was a plus as well! Ed’s on Main had a fantastic fish fry. Highly recommend!

Is this your Grandma's Yooper House? Cozy small town house close to many of the activities Upper Peninsula Michigan has to offer. Time in the U.P. does not follow a clock, it is measured by your enjoyment. If you are looking for crystal palace, look else where. This place offers the basic essentials in a typical Upper Peninsula small town.
Even though off the beaten path, many lakes to fish and ski are within 20 miles. Trail system is less than two blocks from house. Local ski hill about 10 miles away. National Forests can be found within 20 miles heading in about any direction. The house is a typical 1940's bungalow style. Split entry to basement/main floor. Dated décor from the 1950's, yet comfortable to relax and serve as base for exploring the lakes, trails, and local communities. Located in quiet neighborhood with fenced in back yard. Neighborhood roads a bit rough, but helps keep traffic down. Has electric range and microwave available. Cooking pots, pans, and utensils available. Plates, cups, and flatware are also available. Bathroom has tub, toilet, and sink (no shower).
Typical U.P. small town neighborhood with families and retirees. There is a small playground located two blocks west of the house. Other U.P. residents that may make their way through the neighborhood include deer and turkey. Roads are rough like many U.P. small towns.
  • Amazing value for a place to stay, LOTS of amenities and I’d definitely recommend staying here down in Iron River, it’s a few mins outside of main town there but it was so worth it.

  • A cozy little cabin near Ski Brule that had the perfect location!

    Mikaila2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed here before. I will again. Best value around. Very comfortable and clean. Great hosts.

    Kevin2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grandma’s Cozy Cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway with kiddos (age 9-11) to Ski Brule. The location is less than 10 minute drive from the slopes, and the value was awesome. Mike was great with communication. The cabin is clean, warm and cozy. Nice touches of coloring books, games and videos (adult & kids), bottles of water, body soap & laundry soap. It was wonderful to go home with only clean clothes. This cabin is not lavish, but we weren’t looking for a posh U.P. home to rent. The cabin is furnished as described and pictured. Perfect place to eat dinner & lay our heads after our day outdoor.

    Rebecca2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome very clean!

    Keylee2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • House is in perfect location to get to town, the host left a guide with places to eat and things to do. The house had great property for the kids to run and play in the back yard. They also had games and plenty of movies for the night to relax. Highly recommend!

    Brenton2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, just an amazing area to stay. The house was nice and warm for us when we arrived. There was everything available for us to cook up dinner after we caught it. That was nice because we expected having to buy stuff to cook. (Pans, utensils, spices, etc.) Communication with Mike was outstanding. I even messed up and didn’t realize the time difference, messaged Mike when I was a couple hours away, and got a fast response, allowing us to check in early. Awesome host and great house. We cannot wait for our next trip. Make sure you check the time change prior to your trip.

Welcome to our family retreat! Two new cabins...with a history! Construction completed in 2019, built within the original 1920 cabin footprints less than 10 feet from shoreline! Family owned since 1947. Dream of staying in a brand-new handcrafted shoreline cabin? On an undeveloped, protected northern Wisconsin lake? Fish, kayak, boat on a lake where the only splash is a diving bird or fish jumping…not jet skiers or people jumping in the water? Toss wood on a bonfire, enjoy a beverage and pizza in a clean, up-north bar? Experience the comforts of today, while stepping back a few decades in time and into the history of our family and the Northwoods…then you’ve come to the right place! Beautifully built by local talent using only local cedar, oak, pine and stone. Our cabins sit less than 10’ from the Wabikon Lake shoreline. Furnished with new appliances, a fully stocked kitchen, new mattresses, living room furniture, carefully selected décor and handmade quilts. Private decks offer stunning sunrises, daytime relaxation and serene nights for contemplating moon phases and finding constellations under pure night skies without city lights. Wabikon & Riley Lakes offer a most desirable quality of this property; their shorelines are fully undeveloped, protected. The Chequamegon/Nicolet Forest and the Wabikon State Natural Area are your immediate neighbor offering endless exploration of water and forest. Directly to off the western shoreline is the Wabikon Forest Plot. This unique tract is one of only six in the world (!) being studied by the Smithsonian Institute for its natural growth. This global network of forest research plots is committed to the study of tropical and temperate forest function and diversity. THIS TWO-BEDROOM CABIN - DUE' sleeps 6. DUE' offer walls of windows overlooking the lake, 2 private lakeside decks, fully stocked kitchen, huge kitchen island, full bath with showers, upholstered chairs, dining tables, and is beautifully furnished from our personal collection. Outdoor steps lead to the second lakeside patio, partially covered... perfect to watch storms come in over Wabikon. Bedrooms have dressers and clothes racks with hangers. Due’ is our larger cabin, spanning 864 square feet and perfect for 2-3 couples or a small family. The fully stocked kitchen is open to the sunny living space complete with a table for 6, large sofa, leather laz-z-boy recliner, rocker and collection of books and games. The wall of windows overlooks the lake and deck. A large ceiling fan maintains fresh air throughout the living space. One bedroom includes a queen bed, lakeside window, dresser, clothes rack with hangers, side tables with lamps, a large mirror and a ceiling fan. The second bedroom includes a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a single on top , a separate single (twin) bed, road-side window, clothes rack, mirror, side tables, hanging restored lighting, as well as a ceiling fan. Enjoy this new listing, built on a great story of family respect for history and natural resources. As mentioned, we have two cabins for rent: UNO (smaller; sleeps 2) and DUE' (larger; sleeps 4). Each cabin has its own listing. The cabins are 20-feet apart for privacy or can be rented together. Sit on private decks overlooking the undeveloped, federally protected lakeshore. Parking for car and trailer near cabin. Public boat landing is less than ¼ mile from cabins. Docking available for one boat per cabin. Kayaks, boats ad motors are available next door at Johnnie’s Resort (contact me immediately upon booking, for availability). Wi-fi extenders on each cabin, although you might want to simply unplug and reclaim your connection to water, forest and nature. A bit of history: This special piece of lakeshore is our family legacy, established in 1947 by our parents, John and June Aschenbrenner. Their lease included 9 tiny cabins, 5 outhouses, a bar and caretaker’s shack…a small generator, hand-pump well, and a couple of gas lights. They closed after deer season and re-opened each May 1 which was “opening day” for fishing back then. Johnnie and I grew up on the lake and attended Laona schools. Until our parents’ deaths, Johnnie and Cheryl ran the business making vast improvements; recently we split the land so they could keep the business and we could rebuild two cabins for our family retreat. We carefully rebuilt the cabins in the footprint of 3 old cabins built in the 1920’s.
Far from the craziness of heightened tourism, we are nested in a quiet corner of northeastern Wisconsin. So come to relax, fish, and explore nature on lake and water. [Our two cabins are next to Johnnie’s which includes one cabin from the 1950’s, a small bar and a rental home. Together we are the only four buildings on the entire lake. A large grocery store and gift shops are 5 miles away in Crandon. From your private cottage, you can explore the county's attractions, such as the Lumberjack Steam Train & Camp Five Museum in Laona, the Nicolet Golf Course, the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, local, Forest County community holiday parades and events. The Crandon Ski Serpents perform water ski shows weekly. Sand beaches are available to you 5 miles to the east (Silver Lake Beach) or to the west (Lake Metonga Beach). You'll find mountain biking trails, birding and nature walks, scenic and rustic backroads and ATV/snowmobiling trails.
  • This place is so remarkable that you want to request another stay before the adventures have even begun.

  • Wonderful place to stay - great views and location.

  • It was a great place and very nice host. It feels better in the cabin than the pictures, which is almost always the opposite, but was a nice surprise. We plan to return in the future. View of lake from cabin is great. It's nice to have Johnnies next door as well.

    Robert2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautifully located and the interior is really cozy and well thought out. We spent three relaxing days there. Also, Susan is the nicest host you will ever come across.

    Birgitta2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • These are beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped cabins in a wonderful location, and Susan is a thoughtful, friendly and accessible host. Our family had an outstanding experience and will come again.

    Samuel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place is even better than described. It's very cozy and very very clean. We had everything we needed to cook meals and relax. The location is perfect. The lake is beautiful in any weather. And there's so much to do that our stay wasn't enough to explore everything. We fished from the boat that we rented from Johnnie's Resort next door and from the shore. We kayaked, went to nearby lake, picked wild mushrooms, grilled at the patio downstairs and watched swans. Our family had a great time and Susan was always quick to respond whatever we needed. Rent our beautiful lake home with a magnificent water view. This is a chance to get away to a little piece of heaven on a fairly quiet lake. Neighbors to the east are an older couple typically there throughout the summer but very quiet. Neighbors to the west usually reside on weekends. Bars and restaurants are approximately 4-5 miles away in the small town of Armstrong Creek. Guests will be contacted via email with additional information and to answer questions you may have.
Our home is set into a hillside so you can expect to have to climb some stairs. The lower level isn't 100% finished. Floors are concrete with some carpet set on walking paths.
Our home is situated on the ATV/snowmobile trail. They are part of the Dun-Good riders club boasting the beauty and high quality of the trails. There are many nearby waterfalls and places to sightsee as well. Some of our favorite restaurants include GreenShack (amazing Chicago Vienna beef sandwiches), the Blue Roof Saloon (Friday/Saturday buffet), and Annie's (Supperclub). Our home also open to crafting groups! We have a large island in the lower level as well as additional tables for your crafting needs.
  • We had a great time at the cottage. Just as it is described and a beautiful location on a beautiful Lake. The hosts were responsive and very friendly. Our trip was obviously in the winter, which we would definitely recommend. Totally peaceful and quiet with very few people around. Great winter getaway.

  • Awesome house on a beautiful lake. Check-in was simple, and communication with Mike and Amy was fast and perfect. Best value in the area for a great space in a great location. We'll definitely look to stay here again next time we're in the area.

    Steve2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! The location is perfect. Out in the woods with beautiful scenery and wildlife! Anything you would need is a short drive away. The house came with everything you could think of and more. With being right on the water, the kayaks and paddle boards, boats and fishing equipment etc were everything we could have asked for. Our family had a wonderful weekend and we look forward to booking with Amy and staying here in the future! Communication with check in and any questions was also very easy and much appreciated! Five stars!!!

    Kimberly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house and lake were wonderful! It was cozy, clean and the lake was beautiful! Thank you for such a fabulous stay!

    Sarah2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A nice family space to relax and enjoy time together as a family!

    Sue2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's place is a great place to get away. It is off the beaten path but has all the northwoods appeal. Graciously allowing use of their kayaks, paddleboards, and row boat gives a lot to do on the lake. The area is charming with lots of other lakes and rivers to explore. Lots of area restaurants and bars. The house is comfy and the satellite TV is great for rainy day or evening inside, especially when the Brewers are beating the Cubs. We plan to make a trip back next year.

  • This cabin is nestled in the trees on a beautiful lake, complete with nearly every little gadget you could need for a comfortable visit. It is cozy, inspires relaxation, is full of the best vintage charm, and was spotless upon arrival. The host is a pro and is very easy to coordinate with, I eagerly anticipate a prompt return for more reading, fishing, and cooking on the fire. Also there’s an excellent cycling path that runs between Crystal Falls and Iron City, so bring your bicycle! It looks like a beautiful ride.

Welcome to our lakeside cabins - family owned since 1947. Rebuilt in 2019 in old fishing cabin footprints. The only cabins on Wabiion & Riley - both strictly fishing lakes. Catch panfish, bass, northerns, muskies. Uniquely situated next to Johnnie’s, my brother’s place. The only cabins on quiet Wabikon Lake. See Piacenza’s on Wabikon (2 listings): UNO sleeps 3. DUE sleeps 5. SAVE 20%; 5 nights. 25% off weekly stays. ***We are proud of our cleanliness, allowing 24 hours between stays.***
Welcome! We worked with a local builder to carefully craft these cabins using only local cedar, oak, pine and stone. The Chequamegon / Nicolet Forest and the Wabikon State Natural Area are your immediate neighbor offering endless exploration of water and forest. Directly to off the western shoreline is the Wabikon Forest Plot. This unique tract is one of only six in the world (!) being studied by the Smithsonian Institute for its natural growth. This global network of forest research plots is committed to the study of tropical and temperate forest function and diversity. THE SUNNY STUDIO CABIN - "UNO" sleeps 3. One room open design (except for shower and bathroom) contains a full-size kitchen (fully stocked) and living space within 480 square feet! You walk into the cabin noticing the openness and wall of windows overlooking the lake. In the center of the cabin is a large antique wooden (bar height) table with four chairs serving as your kitchen island and eating area. Directly in front of the large lake view windows sits a new West Elm/Pottery Barn Enzo sectional/QUEEN sleeper and one twin bed for day and evening use. The Enzo sectional pulls out to form a comfortable queen size bed. We've added a 2' memory foam mattress topper for extra comfort, complete with sheets, quilts and plenty of pillows. A large ceiling fan circulates the air. Walk out onto the private deck with a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the sunrise, hear the birds and watch the boats go out from Johnnie's and the public landing. Outdoor steps lead to another (!) lakeside patio under the cabin. - perfect to watch storms come in over Wabikon. UNO is fully wheelchair accessible, even designed by a man in a wheelchair. Enjoy this new listing, built on a great story of family respect for history and natural resources. We rent two cabins. UNO (sleeps 3) and DUE' (sleeps 6) The cabins are 20-feet apart for privacy or can be rented together. There are TWO LISTINGS for these cabins to accommodate your ability to rent one or both. Parking for car and trailer near cabin. Public boat landing is less than ¼ mile from cabins. Docking available for one boat per cabin. Kayaks, boats ad motors are available next door at Johnnie’s Resort (contact me upon booking, for availability). Wi-fi extenders on each cabin, although you might want to simply unplug and reclaim your connection to water, forest and nature. A bit of history: This special piece of lakeshore is our family legacy, established in 1947 by our parents, John and June Aschenbrenner. Their lease included 9 tiny cabins, 5 outhouses, a bar and caretaker’s shack…a small generator, hand-pump well, and a couple gas lights.
Together we are the only four buildings on the entire lake.] A large grocery store and gift shops are 5 miles away in Crandon.
  • Susan’s cabin was so relaxing and quiet. We loved the beautiful snowy lake view and the thoughtful touches throughout the cabin. The decor is a simple theme yet elegant for this cozy cabin, and well maintained. Susan is very responsive to her guests needs and provided us with welcome treats along with a special hand written card that made this everything we needed plus more. It is a home away from home that we will return on future trips north to visit family nearby.

    Shelley2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Susan upgraded us to the larger suite because there were no other guests staying there that weeked! The view was amazing and there are plenty of supplies to keep one cozy and content. The amenities were fully modern while still maintaining the traditional cabin look, which was very nice. The cabin is not too far away from grocery stores so you can have a feeling of solidarity while being close to resources if needed.

    Andy2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stunningly beautiful! Susan goes out of her way to make you feel welcome!

    Brad2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very stylish place with great view and many personal extra touches. The solitude of the lake and the many hikes in the beautiful national forest restored our souls

    Andrea2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed over a long weekend, and had an outstanding time! Susan is a gracious hostess! The decor of the cabin is colorful, thoughtful, and peaceful. The views of Wabikon Lake were perfect and the amenities and comfort of the cabin provided for a very easy, relaxing stay. She provided kayaks/life jackets for use, and there is a grill on the ground-level patio. The lake is a quiet fishing lake, not a swimming lake but enjoy the overall ease of the place, and soak in the tranquility. We look forward to staying here again! Thank you, Susan!

They were responsive to one of our time sensitive requests and also had a local contact follow up to make sure all was good. View was amazing and that fireplace is a great focal point for our evening gathering and conversations.

  • Cathy's place was very cozy. It was very clean and she was such a great host. She was thoughtful. Very communicative which was great! The room was cute and cozy as much as the entire home. Make sure you give Helen the cat all the cuddles she wants and Cathy thank you so much for your hospitality, thoughtfulness, and breakfast it was delicious!

  • Be ready to unplug and relax. A quaint cottage visited by local wildlife--deer, cardinals, bluejays, squirrels, rabbits, chickadees, and woodpeckers. Whatever you may need can be found via a short drive.

  • We were traveling east on 2 out the UP coming from Wisconsin, and had a really hard time finding good reasonable priced accommodations. In fact from Ironwood to Ironriver there is virtually nothing. Cathy home is right off of 2 near the National Forest, she is sweet and her home is very cosy. We loved our stay!

    Bryan2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy was an awesome host. Everything in the house was ready and clean for us. We would recommend staying at her place, plus you may see a bear in the garden!!!!!

  • Wonderful hosts!! Kathy & Mike went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed! We went up in the winter time to ice fish and it was a lot of fun! We caught fish, and one was definitely a keeper :)

  • Very nice place in a great location. Clean and very thoughtful. They also provided a lot of good ideas for food and places to go as were really considerate. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking in the area.

  • It's almost the most amazing and comfortable homestay I've ever lived in. The sitting room is a small exhibition field simply, showed the harvest of host more than 10 years. As to what it is, I'll keep it a secret for him. On the second floor, everything is comfortable and practical.

    HuaQing2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy and Mike were great hosts and their location is spectacular. We would have loved staying longer to enjoy the lake, the fire pit, and the outdoor kitchen, so we will have to come back and stay longer! The unit was so clean and comfortable and quiet. It was definitely private space, but yet having full access to a wonderful kitchen and outdoor space was a bonus. We highly recommend it.

  • Kathleen and Mike were incredible hosts and the place is gorgeous - perfect combination of a private suite with great shared space

    Michael2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Kathy’s home is absolutely beautiful, and the outdoor space and lake are wonderful as well. This is a very neat place, and we really loved living the lake life for the weekend. We were thrilled to be able to bring our dog along for the fun as well. I would definitely return and would recommend to others!

    Sondra2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I stay in hotels too much for work, so I wasn't looking forward to another weekend in a hotel. This house is a perfect spot to get away. The lake they are on is pristine and quiet! I loved listening to the loons at night. I had everything I could need in a very comfortable, private setting. You'll be in rural Wisconsin with spotty cellular coverage. If your cellular provider does not cover the area, be sure to download Google maps for offline use just in case. Or print your route directions as we used to in the '90s. ;-)

  • Adam was a wonderful host. We rented both sides of the house and it was a great place to gather with friends and family. The house has many beds and it is very unique. The next time we are up at Ski Brule, we would love to rent again. I highly recommend this place!

    Andrew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Close to ski hill could probably walk if you wanted to, only two driveways past the parking lot, Rustic place like most are around there. Adam very accommodating and great communication. If we had an issue he resolved right away! Says three bedroom - it has one bedroom on the first floor, a loft area with beds and a room off of the loft that closes off is their third bedroom so not really totally private in my opinion, but works for families or close friends. The extra crows nest was super fun for our son to sleep in. Bed linens all smelled fresh and clean. Bathrooms were stocked with lots of fresh towels. Had soap. Kitchen wasn’t totally clean on arrival but they sent someone right in the morning to clean, which was nice. They had kitchen utensils and things to use. The metal stairs not small kid friendly under 4 years maybe but cute place has all you need. Kids loved running around and the crows nest of course. Plus they provided firewood for the fire- maybe bring kindling or fire starter because bigger logs but over all super nice to have a fire at night. Tried to use the sauna but takes a bit to warm up so I’d forget about it and have to start over lol. Our first time warming up a sauna I guess. I recommend 4wD in the snowy season we got up the driveway fine with a truck but friends with cars had a hard time, we did park one car at the ski parking lot and just brought them up. All in all skiing was good, nice snow up there compared to the valley/Nordic where we also have fun skiing. Brûles prices are good too. Lastly, I left my purse there and they shipped it back to me, super nice people! They did their best to make our stay nice.

    Sketchy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to book if you plan on going to Ski Brule. The Sauna is a very nice amenity. The views are great around this comfy chalet. Highly recommend and would return!

    Owen2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We rented this space to attend a funeral in Iron River. It was close by, and offered me and all three of my adult children a place to sleep. We made a fire in the fireplace, enjoy the nature, and it was really a nice, rustic stay. We are planning to return to go skiing sometime this winter, as it is simply a really nice little place to stay.

    Curt2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for having us for another year. We will definitely be back next year!

    Andrew2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Cedar Haus was very enjoyable! The location was indeed within walking distance of the ski slopes, the place offered plenty space, and the fireplace made for the coziest settings to juxtapose the cold winter. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare our own meals, too, and we found the place in a very clean condition upon checkin. The driveway was steep and challenging to ascend with snow, but we did manage to overcome it. The walls weren't the best at stopping sound either, but not problematic for my group. As for Adam, he has been very quick and responsive to several complications my group brought with us, and was polite and helpful in every exchange we had.

    Brandon2019-01-03T00:00:00Z

Hillcrest overlooks beautiful Fay Lake. This is a great opportunity for 1-2 families to share a northwoods getaway during any season! The house is surrounded by the Nicolet National Forest with 180+ feet of lake frontage. You have a private dock with an aluminum row boat. Please note, the shoreline is not great for swimming, but there is a great public beach 2 miles away. You have access to 100s of miles of ATV/snowmobile trails, along with hiking and biking trails.
The cabin is simple and includes all of your basic needs. There is a full kitchen, bathroom, and a BBQ grill outside. The beds are made up with fresh linens and the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and flatware. We do not provide towels or soap, but toiletries are available for purchase at the general store in town.
The town of Long Lake has a small general store, along with 2 bars/restaurants offering lunch and dinner and a cafe offering breakfast. We are 20 minutes south of Iron River, MI and Ski Brule Ski Resort. We are near a network of 100s of miles of ATV and Snowmobile trails. We are surrounded by maple trees, being within the Nicolet National Forest, so the fall color is an amazing sight!

  • This is a fabulous location. It offers so much for families! There is a pool, complete with slides, a great lake with a row boat, super easy access for kayaks - it was great. Places for yard games and plenty of room in the house. Add 3 bathrooms and 3 showers - about as perfect as it gets!

    Karen2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin with lots of space and bedrooms. Great for two families to share. Very quiet and woodsy, but lots of bugs! Bring lots of bug spray! LaSalle Falls is a must see if you like to hike. It's about a 45 minute drive but awesome view of falls. The only downfall of the cabin is that you really can't swim right from the dock, it's very weedy. But good fishing and there is a public beach a few minutes away on Long Lake that is very nice. We would definitely stay here again!

They deep clean, wash all the linens and prep each bed, regardless of how many people are on the reservation. Perspective: a. When a couple is staying at a large house, and using only 25% of it, do they really want the home cleaned only 25%? Of course not. b. When considering how many beds will be used, there are many variables-- Who are couples? Just friends? Family? Do all couples sleep in the same bed? Who snores? c. Yes, sometimes the cleaner will make more money on your stay than the property owner or management company. It is essential to keep the space fresh and consistently cleaned throughout the year. • We came to Iron River with my 2 daughters and their families. It would be the first time skiing for my grandchildren. They had so much fun! The cottage had so many great amenities. The cottage feels like new! The layout was perfect for our needs. Very clean. We would love to return!

  • What a beautiful place. It is very spacious and clean!! . .We had a group of 10 including adults and teenagers. The upstairs was a great place for the kids to hang out and have their own space while the adults hung out in the kitchen and played games around the table. My hubby and I arrived a bit earlier than the rest of our group so we made a fire and relaxed with a glass of wine on the couch and watched the fire.....nice. We saw 3 deer walking across the lake right in front of the house right after we arrived. Never tire of looking at deer. We will definitely stay again! Thank you for a wonderful place to want to go to after a long day:)

  • Great space for a large crowd. All the amenities with beautiful quiet location on scenic lake in upper peninsula near Brule ski resort and pine river MI. Secluded yet close to activities. Huge spacious house could sleep many people comfortably.

  • The lakehouse is very beautiful and the facilities are very complete, which is very suitable for our three families with children. There is a supermarket for grocery shopping nearby. We buy three dishes in the kitchen ourselves. The big kitchen is very cool to use. It is better if there is a garbage processor. The lake view is beautiful, the maple forest on the other side of the lake has begun to red, and the forest is full of dyes, beautiful. It’s just that we’re not lucky. It’s raining for two days and one and a half days. I haven’t tried to row on the lake. It’s a pity. One more regret is that the laundry room is on the second floor. When it is open in the middle of the night, the sound is very loud and both bedrooms are affected. It would be much better if set up in the basement.

  • Beautiful, clean, very large....much more than I expected! Plan to stay again in the future

    Jeff2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fairly large group stay at the Lake House--siblings, spouses, kids ranging in ages from 4-16, and the grandparents. The house was PERFECT! The grandparents stayed in the master suite downstairs, the teenagers in the bunk room, and the littles on the bunks in one of the bedrooms with a king size bed. The kids loved to hang out in the loft upstairs, where we played games at the table, worked puzzles, watched a few family friendly movies at night, and played with the Legos. We loved that everyone could sit at the dining room table together with views of the lake. The house is STACKED with great videos, books, puzzles, and all sorts of games--and of course the BOATS! Paddle boards, kayaks, rowboat, canoe, and a gorgeous dock. We were outside as much as we could be, from morning coffee on the dock, to boats and swimming all afternoon, to a campfire at night. We had some rain off and on, so we came inside some, where there was plenty of comfortable and beautiful space and lots to do! We are already trying to figure out if we can get a few more family out there with us next year. It surpassed everyone's expectations!! It felt risky to plan a family trip like this with so many families in one house, but this was a wonderful experience and lots of great memories made! Thank you!

  • We came back to this house and we were just as pleased with the second time as we were the first time ! The amenities were fantastic, the location was great, and we all had such a wonderful time. There were ten of us staying here and there was plenty of room for everyone. We were so glad we returned to this house and we are looking forward to returning in the future!

The house had everything we needed - cooking supplies, firewood and air hockey! - and our hosts provided some nice surprise touches, too. It was a great winter get-away. Thank you!

  • Amazing home and the views are spectacular! Home was so clean and stocked or had everything you could need or want to make it your own home! The home is very spacious and plenty of room for the 7 of us. Lots for kids to do inside...which was a big plus! Their deck and seating was great and the added chair hammocks was a real treat. Rustic location and at the end of the lake so only neighbor is on one side.....nature abounds to the right of home! Cannot say enough about the care and upkeep of this place...dreaming of next year already! Thanks Sheila and Irv!

Our cabins are located on the Brule River in Alvin, WI. We are located directly on the WI/MI snowmobile trail, and also close to Ski Brule. Iron River, MI is about 10 minutes away, and Eagle River, WI is about 30 minutes away. In the summer, we have mowed walking trails, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. In addition, we are in close proximity to 4 bar/restaurant's.
  • A great little cabin right on the river. Super clean and a perfect space for a couple. Exceeded expectations!

  • Second year in a row we booked this cabin for our snowmobiling trip. Had just as much fun as the last time! One of our sleds needs a new part so had to find things to do for a couple days at the end but there were two great breweries we went to withing 40 mins and we had a great day at Ski Bruel resort hitting the slopes! Great winter area and fantastic hosts!!!

  • A quaint little 'Up Nort' cabin. Literally on the WI/MI border. New, modern cabin with a homey North Woods feel. I came for a quick retreat to get away from work, social media and cell burps and chirps and was not disappointed.

  • A great little cozy cabin on the Brule River. Even tho it is close to the highway and snowmobile trails, it is amazingly quiet. The cabin is nice and clean and stocked with many amenities you wouldn't expect, including a drip coffee maker ( and filters), cooking utensils, a microwave, a great New professional kitchen faucet, a big satellite TV, and a comfy memory foam mattress. I'd like to tell you it's terrible, and keep it for ourselves, but it's great. And a great value for your money. Just make sure you like who you rent the cabin with. Lol. It is tiny.

The cabin sits on 8 acres surrounded by Chequamegon Nicolet Ntl Forest. It's perched on a hill above 500 feet of shoreline on pristine sand-bottom Franklin Lake with resident loons and bald eagles. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, biking, hiking... have fun exploring the natural beauty of the great Northwoods. Or just read a book in the hammock. Make s'mores over the campfire. Kitchen is fully-stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware, stove/oven, frig, microwave, coffee maker, toaster. Bdrm #1 has a queen; bdrm #2 has new bunkbed & twin. Second twin on one side of fieldstone fireplace. Eagle River is a quick 15 min drive away. * New refrigerator fall 2018.
You will feel like you are in Canada.
  • The cottage is cosy, inviting with a layout that fosters grouping around the fireplace. Katherine was very communicative, helpful and kind. The location is incredible for those seeking an immersion in nature and all it has to offer.

    Mary2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Back to the woods. Back to when you were a kid visiting the grandparents. Quiet space to play games with the kids and listen to the loons talk to each other.

    Glenn2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was way better than we expected! It is such a beautiful and secluded location. We were there in mid October and the fall colors were breathtaking. There is plenty of info about hiking etc. in the area and we took advantage of it. The stars at night down by the lake were amazing. The entire place is well stocked and it’s just the perfect place to get away! We will hopefully be back!

    Wave2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a charming cabin with so many personal touches. It felt just like home. Everything was spotless, well thought out, and exactly (if not nicer!) than described. The stone fireplace was especially welcome, the perfect spot for memory making. The walk to the dock is short, with spectacular view across the lake. We feel very lucky to have found this gem! The host was communicative and provided such clear directions to the cabin and orientation to the amenities, but also gave us all the space we needed to enjoy a perfectly secluded weekend getaway. It could not have been easier or more pleasant. Highly recommend!

    Emily2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin, secluded and away from all electronics! We loved the canoeing, fishing, grilling and the moon lit night by the lake! My little one was all busy catching frogs, collecting shells. 5 Stars to this Cabin!

    Bhavnesh2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a special place, well off the beaten path and worth the trip. The cabin is cozy, and the lake and surrounding forest are breathtaking. It's quite shallow by the dock which is nice. Plenty of trails to hike nearby. Close enough to town if you need anything just or want to explore. But far enough away to be out of cell phone range and unplug for a weekend, which is exactly what we did. With the exception of the radio stations up north, which are great :) Katharine was a great host and was more than accommodating to us. We can't wait to come back!

    Bryan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I spent a lovely long weekend at Katherine's cabin! We needed to get away from jobs, chores, and teenagers, and this was just what we needed- it was so remote we could choose when to get cell reception (by going down to the pier), and all we could hear were the loons. We loved the campfire area, swimming in the crystal clear lake, and cooking in the kitchen that had all the utensils we needed. Katherine and her family were at the cabin next door, and very hospitable. We hardly knew they were there as the property is so wooded, but we knew we could pop over if we needed anything. They equipped us with all the equipment for canoeing. Next time we run away we'd certainly go to Katherine's again!

    Tracey2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was everything described. Very private and cozy...We swam, canoed, hiked, cooked food, enjoyed a bonfire and enjoyed a romantic fire inside. It comes stocked with all you need...I was over prepared! She even welcomed us with wine, chocolate, fruit, and coffee. It was clean and perfect...We loved the lake and spent most of our wine sipping there to listen to the loons....Thank you for the most special weekend we were truly sad to leave...And please hike Whispering Lake....a true gem! Thanks Katherine

  • Gorgeous property with a beautiful, crystal clear lake. Everyone loved the paddleboat and we had a great vacation. (6 adults, 6 teens). The house was quite warm (no A/C) the first night, but if you can get the air moving (we brought extra fans) it will cool down. The second and third nights were comfortable. The coffee maker takes cone filters! The downstairs area was a great gathering place and we enjoyed the firepit each night. Don't forget bugspray! The house and furniture were very nice, with no issues. Loved it, and we're already talking about coming back next year!

  • Beautiful house and view on the lake. Having the fishing boat with motor was a nice bonus. The house had updates in the kitchen and main level that were not reflected in the photos, also a nice bonus. The full size beds in the 3 bedrooms were a tight fit for the couples, though. Overall a great place and we are likely to stay again.

  • Had a great experience at this location. Home was very clean with amenities that are more than sufficient. Georgia was very quick to respond to any inquiries. Both Georgia and her husband were very cordial which also included a delicious home made apple pie upon arrival. We stayed here for a fishing trip. This home provided excellent proximity for quick access to all of the excellent fishing provided by lakes in the Iron River area.
