It is true that "The Retreat" was once a shed (never used as one)! It has a "Queen bed", a bathroom/ shower, microwave and refrigerator! Snacks, waters, coffee and / or tea are available! Featuring 90% green electric energy (solar panels)!! Monterey is only 25 minutes away.
There is a gas BBQ near The Retreat for your use! There is a microwave. Dishes and siverware. Laundry is available!
The Retreat is located on a very quiet cul-de-sac!
  • Really enjoyed staying at the retreat! It was really convenient to head down to Monterrey and continue on my highway 1 drive. Ted gave a ton of recommendations, and it was really peaceful and quiet in the evenings. I see now why this place is often booked!

  • The Retreat is a super cute little spot to rest your head while exploring the Monterey Bay Area. Ted and Edith are very hospitable and communicative. Snacks and bottles of water were left out for us, which was much appreciated.

  • My fiancé and I had a nice stay at Ted and Edith’s! They were very communicative before and during our stay. The Retreat was a perfect stop on our cross country trip to relax and regroup. It was cozy and had nice ambiance in the front. We would definitely recommend them to future travelers!

  • Ted And Edith’s place was tucked in a beautiful neighborhood. The AirBnB was fully thought out to accommodate guests in a quiet way. Upon entering, we found the surroundings very zen. Inside, we had the place all to ourselves with everything we needed for a good night’s stay. Bed was clean and comfortable. The Floors and shower was clean. The amenities made the place complete. I would recommend this place.

    Sunny2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a perfect night. Ted and Edith are both kind and helpful. The rooms are very clean and everything you need is in good condition. It was a short time, but thank you for having a very pleasant time! I also want to live here.

    Jean2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ted and Edith’s guest house is the cutest little place ever. I LOVED the decorations such the vintage magazine cut outs on the wall and the game board table. They even provided snacks and coffee! The heater that looked like a fireplace was adorable. It was sparkling clean and the bed was very comfortable and warm. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back up north. You’ll love it!

    Katie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ted and Edith's spot was perfect! The hosts were very communicative and hospitable, and the room was very inviting with thoughtful touches (snacks, toiletries, fresh towels). Will be staying again the next time we come through Salinas!

Our quaint, thoughtfully-stocked 300 sq ft cottage is located steps from the ocean (5 min walk), yet tucked away behind our home, affording guests ample privacy, easy parking and all the amenities of home. Sip wine on the patio after a day of adventures while listening to the surf, and sleep soundly on our new king Saatva eco-hybrid mattress.
Our 1 bed/1 bath, studio-style cottage is offered fully furnished with kitchenette, organic fair trade coffee, selection of teas, and high quality organic breakfast items provided. If you have food allergies or dietary limitations of any kind, please let us know in advance, we're happy to accommodate you! Please note: we recently gutted the kitchenette and it now has 2 gas burners for cooking, a sink, and fridge. Due to the small space and limited availability of petite-sized appliances, we no longer have an oven or freezer. In place of an oven, we've just added a well-rated Breville countertop oven, which is large enough to roast a turkey, make a pizza, or do a little baking, should the mood strike. However, if you plan to do a lot of cooking during your stay, you’ll likely prefer to seek out a property with a full-sized kitchen. Hundreds of tv channels On Demand shows and movies Secured Wifi Charming private patio Complimentary toiletries Iron/ironing board Hair dryer All linens included Dishes, pots, pans, + oil, spices, etc. Organic coffee/sugar/half & half Eco Friendly "Luxury Firm" King mattress Beach chairs & beach towels provided Pet Friendly* *PET POLICY: Well-behaved pets are welcome - we are dog lovers! However, based on over 9 years of hosting experience, we now charge a $25 cleaning fee for pets over 15 lbs, or multiple pets. This is not collected up front (via Airbnb) - you can pay the cleaning fee during your stay. (Our policy is too specific for us to build it into our Airbnb fee collection.) The cottage comfortably sleeps 2. If your party is larger (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements, we can stash a twin air mattress or Pack 'n Play and extra linens in the closet prior to your arrival. Location: 5 minute walk to Asilomar State Beach, Asilomar Conference Ctr, and the recreation trail (Bring your binoculars - almost guaranteed sightings of otters and seals, and lately, whale spouts!) 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to downtown Pacific Grove (On Monday afternoon/evenings there is a fantastic little Farmers Market) 10 minute drive to Oldtown Monterey/Wharf Approximately 3 miles from Cannery Row/Monterey Bay Aquarium Less than 1 mile from the 17 mile drive gates into Pebble Beach 1/3 mile from Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course 20ish minute drive to Carmel Valley/Wine Country 30ish minute drive to INCREDIBLY scenic Big Sur Bring your bicycles - our mild climate and stunning scenery make the Monterey Peninsula an ideal spot to explore on 2 wheels. We *LOVE* hosting Airbnb guests - making friends from around the world, and close to home. Whether you opt to stay with us, or elsewhere, I'm confident you'll enjoy your trip to the stunning Monterey Peninsula. You should know a couple things.... 1. We are a pet-friendly property - if you suffer from pet allergies you should know there may have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is likely that allergens are still present. Ultimately - we want you to be comfortable, therefore we *STRONGLY* discourage booking if you have pet allergies - there are so many lovely options in the area and most are not pet-friendly. 2. Approximately once per week (usually Friday mornings) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed wackers, fence repair, and the like). 3. Finally.... Our calendar is updated daily and is indeed accurate. If the dates you want are not available it is because they're already booked by another guest. I'm not sure how everyone plans so far in advance, but it is not unusual for us to be booked 8+ months in advance.
Hands down, the best part about our 'hood is the proximity to the ocean. You can (usually) hear it, and smell it from our house, and see its amazing beauty within a brief walk. On a clear night, the sunsets are breathtaking.
  • Super comfy bed! Nice amenities for breakfast. Very close to all amenities on the peninsula.

    Trevor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is among the best that airbnb had. Love in every detail, top location, quiet, very clean, just beautiful. We would come back anytime.

  • Would love to stay at their place again next time. Thank you.

  • Thank you for the wonderful accommodations. We enjoyed our stay very much. I used the ice machine, such a great idea. The cookies were amazing and having coffee and breakfast food was such a treat. Jamie, John Paul and Sparky

    Jamie Ann2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here and brought Sammy, our cat. Erika welcomed us with a nice breakfast of homemade goodies and the best chocolate chip cookies that I ever tasted (recipe in back of a thorough informational binder), and a really sweet personalized welcome sign. The entry to the cottage had a wonderful landscape and stone walkway that opened up to a beautiful courtyard with tasteful patio furniture and clear directional signage. The entry to the cottage is beautiful with a split door. The inside is bright and cozy with a beach seascape theme, with light blue and white accents and natural wood. The kitchenette is small, yet fully stocked and well organized. The bathroom is generous in size, and airy. The cottage has its own private courtyard with patio furniture that complements the landscape. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and all of the furniture was comfortable. Our kitty (a large friendly and curious orange tabby), hopped on the windowsill and broke a piece off, and although I was horrified and offered to pay for repairs, Erika was gracious and made it seem like an easy repair. In summary, this is a wonderful place to stay and Erika is a terrific host with thoughtful attention to details. We will definitely return!

    Karen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning find! So cozy and private, with many thoughtful touches. The chocolate-chip cookie welcome was awesome! The beach is very close, and the neighborhood is very quiet and restful. The bed felt a little soft when we climbed in, but it was wonderfully supportive. The heater, though compact, warmed up the whole place in the time it took to brew a pot of coffee in the morning.

    Lk2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is just how it looks in the pictures. Nice private outside sitting area also. You can hear the ocean from the cottage. Easy walk to the Pacific Ocean. The location is perfect. Easy to get to everything you want to do. Loved sitting outside having our coffee in the morning and hearing the waves crash on the beach. We will be back.

    Elizabeth2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, private, and charming place. We have a smooth pleasant time here. Minutes from the beach. We had everything we needed.

  • Jen and Rob’s little oasis was the perfect place to unwind. Jen and Robs hospitality was the most memorial part of our stay. They made sure to have the perfect little touches (extra toiletries, different types of milk, some fruit, and even some eggs!) We loved getting to meet their sweet animal buddies, spending time on the patio sipping coffee and playing cards, and walking the trail around the property. Also, they gave us some honey that Rob made himself! I highly recommend this beautiful homey stay.

  • Great get-away from the hustle and bustle of Monterey or Carmel, but allows you to take advantage of the Coastal cities of Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. Highly recommended.

  • Magical. Incredible. Rejuvenating. Peaceful. Wow.

    Chelsea2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible!! My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful getaway trip. The location was INCREDIBLE- the views on the balcony was breath taking. The drive up to the place is very very windy so I would recommend an SUV. I can’t thank Jen and rob enough. They even gave us honey on our way out! We can’t wait to come back

    Delaney2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jen and Rob’s house is absolutely amazing! Beautiful views, quiet and peaceful setting, and all the amenities you need (extra warm blankets, organic bath products, whole milk and granola!).

Stay in our Carmel Rustic Cabin along with your FurKid (see dog fee below) while shopping, visiting local wineries and restaurants or just walking your dog off-leash along Carmel's white sandy beach. Hidden in the woods, our rustic cabin is like a treehouse with all the amenities and minutes from downtown and the beaches. FYI the coast drive is now accessible between here and LA, but may be shut down during stormy weather, so be sure to follow local weather reports or just call Caltrans.
You'll find our Rustic Cabin like a Treehouse is perfect for two . . . Simple. Comfortable and Cozy (250 sq ft). PLUS, the cabin is very quiet, very private, and equipped with a small "kitchenette," super high-speed WIFI for streaming and cable TV. We are Pet Friendly and would love to entertain your beloved Fido, but PLEASE NOTE . . . we are now charging $25 extra for one to two small to mid-size dogs. Dog surcharge will be added after you've booked. We also ask that you bring the appropriate dog bedding as well as food and water dishes. Deer and other wild animals are often around at night, so don't be spooked if your dog decides to growl a bit. Even squirrels will set our dogs off. We provide coffee and tea to get you started in the morning. No kitchen is available, but there is a microwave, small refrigerator, kettle, coffee pot, toaster, and dishes - all ideal for take out. You'll be located on the same property as our family home, but totally detached from the house (about 50 steps down from the parking area) and with no other guests to disturb you. For those of you who have allergies, please keep in mind that Pets have been in the room previously. Also, because we're located in the woods, pollens may be a problem for you as well. If you're visiting California's central coast for the first time, you'll find Carmel and the surrounding area an idyllic haven boasting nearly 100 miles of spectacular shoreline - described as the 'greatest meeting of land and sea.' The unbridled beauty of Carmel and Monterey County's landscape and the mild, year-round weather offer endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Family-centered activities abound and there truly is something for everyone.
The cabin is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood facing the Pebble Beach Forest Conservancy adjacent to Pescadero, a little used road where neighbors like to walk their dogs, or where cyclists test their strength on a grueling hill full of switchbacks. Want to look out on the forest? Want to watch birds whiz by with squirrels nearby? You can, yet we're so close to town, it takes 10 minutes to walk to the post office. Also, you might like to know Carmel has been voted one of the Top Ten Dog Friendly places in the country. WOOF! So, bring your dog. Please check the CALENDAR tab above to determine whether we've been booked.
  • Cozy little cabin in the trees. This was a very peaceful spot and we really enjoyed our stay here. Sitting on the balcony with a beer after a long drive was delightfully relaxing. Close to everything Carmel has to offer, but just enough off the beaten track. All in all, a great find.

    Judy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this trip as a short get-away from the hustle-and-bustle of the Bay Area and demanding jobs. Tom's place was exactly what we needed. It is a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown but far enough to offer peace and tranquility; it was the best of both worlds. The cabin itself is on a hillside down some steps from the main house. It is very private and surrounded by lush trees and plants. There is a cute little deck facing down the hill to enjoy coffee and snacks. The cabin offers basic amenities, which is all we needed, including a very comfy bed. It was very clean and quaint. Tom is very kind and a great host. We love this place and can't wait to return!

    Victoria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great and cute accommodation. You have to go down some stairs in Order to reach the housing but Tom installed some lights which makes it very easy to find. We enjoyed our stay.

    Jessica2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic and charming place surrounded by nature. Friendly host. Close proximity to center of town. A bit small but we just needed a place to sleep so it was perfect. Highly recommended and would love to come back again.

  • Tom’s cabin was great! Parking was easy. The step to the cabin were sturdy. The cabin itself was clean and everything worked as expected. The town is 5 minutes drive from the cabin, where there’s lots to do!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Tom’s awesome cabin. We had a great time, look forward to coming back :)

    Kyle2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was lovely. It overlooks trees and a creek and there is nothing h like waking up to that view. It’s very peaceful and quiet yet a 5 min drive to town. It’s cozy and warm, everything you would want for a get away, particularly considering that they are pet friendly. We love our stay and highly recommend it!

    Andrea2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

  • We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Monterey area. But what made it truly special was our time at Annemarie and Jesse's lovely home. They were easy going and helpful in every way and made our journey even that more pleasurable.

  • Feels like home :) My favorite place to stay in Seaside. I keep coming back and can't get enough. Thank you, Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne!

  • Highly recommended - beautiful historic house with wonderful hosts, wonderful gardens, great breakfast in the morning. Always a pleasure to stay here!

  • Beautiful, tranquil, must-stay experience. Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne think of everything, and I feel so cared for, body and soul, when I stay here (I'm a happy repeat customer, I've stayed here multiple times on my visits to Monterey). The inn feels like a home - inviting fireplace in the living room in the evenings, nourishing and tasty breakfast in the dining room in the mornings, and many cozy spots to sit in the garden, relax, meditate, whatever you need. The inn is centrally located - close to the bay, Big Sur - so you can go out if you like, or you can completely relax in this cozy spot. This room is particularly lovely- giant bed, writing desk, chairs to relax in, and a distant view of the water. Thank you for a lovely stay, I can't wait to visit again!

This charming historic studio was once owned by American author John Steinbeck. It's been featured in several articles including “20 Romantic AirBnB Getaways”, “Get Cultured While You Sleep at These AirBnBs That are Historical Landmarks” and in Airbnb Magazine's June/July 2019 edition. As of May 27, 2020, there is a 30-night minimum stay for this cottage. Special rates will apply - 65% off the daily rate and no city occupancy tax.
Currently, there is construction at our next door neighbor's house. The work is being done Monday - Friday during the day. Please be aware that there will be some noise during the day. 'I bought a small house and garden in Pacific Grove...' (John Steinbeck: A Life in Letters). American author John Steinbeck wrote these words to a friend about this charming house he called home in the 1940s. This cozy studio retreat has one bedroom with a queen bed and and a sitting area, a spacious full bathroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. There is cable TV and wireless internet. The studio is approximately 350 square feet. It is original 1920's architecture and has short doorways throughout the studio. Taller guests will need to mind their heads passing through entry-ways. It is one of three cottages on the property and has a unique and rich literary history, having belonged to John Steinbeck in the early 1940's. He used it as his writing studio and worked on novels including The Sea of Cortez while living here. It has been renovated to pay homage to the period and history of the property. It has a masculine and sophisticated, yet romantic feel.
The property is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Pacific Grove. It offers plenty of street parking. As for the city, Pacific Grove has been called “Butterfly Town U.S.A.,” “The Most Romantic City in the U.S.,” “A Dreamy California Destination, ” as well as an idyllic place to get married, to honeymoon or to just hang out. Some of it is self-proclaimed, some the acclaim of people who have actually visited Pacific Grove. You will find Pacific Grove on the very tip of the scenic, tree-shrouded Monterey Peninsula with a rocky coastline and an ambiance of charm, grace and beauty. Founded in the 1870s as a Methodist summer retreat, Pacific Grove still bears the look and feel of yesteryear. As you stroll the residential streets admiring the charm of home after home, you will notice little plaques on many of the homes that bear the name of the original owner and the year in which it was built. To qualify for a plaque from the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove, a structure must look like it did when it was originally built. Among its visitors are brightly colored orange-and-black Monarch butterflies, who overwinter in Pacific Grove after traveling up to 2,000 miles, arriving by the thousands starting in October, peaking around Christmas and departing by March. Besides its scenic beauty and idyllic neighborhoods, Pacific Grove offers an eclectic downtown experience, with small boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, antique stores and more. Other vibrant shopping areas are along Central Avenue at the entrance to Pacific Grove from Cannery Row and at the top of Forest Avenue on Forest Hill.
  • Great location,easy communication,unique decoration,beautiful garden!

  • We had a lovely stay in the Writers Studio. Everything we needed to be comfortable was close at hand. We loved the decor and we were just a short downhill walk to many restaurants and activities. I would definitely stay again. Communication was always quick, friendly and easy. Thanks again Kevin and Vicky 🤩

  • The Steinbeck Writing Studio is a MUST DO for any John Steinbeck reader/fan. Even if you aren’t a Steinbeck fan, the studio is a perfect quiet retreat for an individual or couple. It has an eclectic charm that makes you feel so cozy and comfortable, that you’ll want to curl up and read all day. The location is fantastic and very walkable. We walked all over Pacific Grove, Cannery Row and Monterey. We never drove the car once after we arrived. Kevin and Vicky were very responsive and thoughtful hosts. We would highly recommend the studio to anyone! 5 stars all day!

    Blake2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Steinbeck cottage. Easy check-in, and close to the many attractions and restaurants the Monterey peninsula offers.

  • This place was wonderful, centrally located, good access to parking, great Wi-Fi, and all the charm we could handle.

  • This is an AirBnb you will absolute want to book. Every single detail you could want or think to put into a place Kevin and Vicky did. A book full of tips, suggestions, and reviews of different places around town. The perfect location to access those places as well as a perfect cottage to retreat to after the long day. I loved reading why other people had come to the cottage with the journal left for guests to write in. The place itself was spotless and stocked full of all the things that make you feel at home. I really couldn’t of wanted more or had a better time staying at this AirBnb. Thank you guys again so much!

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ONE NIGHT RESERVATIONS WITHOUT ASKING IN ADVANCE. I rarely accept one night reservations on weekends or accept one night reservations more than a week or two (depending on season) in advance or if there is an empty night between bookings. Note pricing varies according to seasons, weekends and special events. I have an awesome 19 year old three-legged blind, deaf dog named Zeus and we both love having furry friends visit. I accept pets at my discretion (please tell me about your pup when you book) and there is a $35 pet fee payable on arrival. I have a leash only rule in the back gardens because they are full of exotic, fragile succulents and prickly cactus. Also, please pick up after your pup and use designated areas in garden. This is a safe, serene neighborhood with lots of really nice people. My neighbors love Airbnb due to considerate guests. There are a lot of small children in the neighborhood so DRIVE 10 MPH in cul-de-sac. Thanks! Make sure you have read instructions and are clear exactly where to park. Neighborhood peace is a really cool thing..

  • Had high hopes for this stay and they were realized! Sarah is great and her place is adorable. She was filled with local tips that were right on - we loved meandering around Pacific Grove (“PG”), Monterey and Carmel - and we had a wonderful road trip to Big Sur. Julia’s for dinner; Lover’s Point for sunrise, Aquarium anytime. You’ll love it! We had a wonderful mother-daughter weekend. Highly recommend.

  • Very personable while mindful of boundaries, meticulous without being obsessive , gracious and a wealth of local knowledge. Couldn't have been nicer and more helpful.

    Linda2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Sarah’s “California Dreaming” Bungalow. An amazing location with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Conveniently located for access to the many Pebble Beach area golf courses and the Monterey Bay.

  • We had an awesome time in beautiful Monterey Bay! The aquarium, cannery row, and old fisherman's wharf were about a 10 minute drive away from the airbnb. The space itself was clean and cozy. We loved waking up to the ocean view and having tea by the window or hanging out in the zen garden. We also enjoyed the record selection! My husband really enjoyed the shower with the sunroof because it felt like we were showering in the forest haha! We slept really well during our trip because the space was free from any distractions. Miss Sarah was so accommodating and a generous host that we won't hesitate recommending or booking with her again!:)

WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR Located deep in Carmel Valley in rural Cachagua, the studio over-looks the Carmel River and the Ventana Wilderness of Los Padres National Forest. WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR! This is a remote setting: We are 40 minutes inland from Carmel/Monterey and and 1.5 hours away from Big Sur. The studio is an apartment sharing a common wall with the apartment next door.
We are located deep in Carmel Valley on a very windy, narrow and steep country road--some call it harrowing but worth the drive. The property has a small cluster of mountain cabins built in the 1920s as a summer retreat for a Carmel Highlands family. Nestled under old oaks, the studio apartment is tucked at the back of the main cabin, an overlooks the Carmel River. The main cabin, built in 1929, has two other apartments, all of which have their own entrances. The studio shares one wall with the one bedroom apartment. Included in the studio is a kitchenette stocked with basic utensils for cooking, allowing you to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet of a retreat atmosphere. NOTE: The oven is on the blink and only heats to 260º. There is the stove top and toaster. The small apartment sized refrigerator is located next to the kitchen in the bathroom. The kitchen is stocked with basic breakfast items (coffee, teas, half and half, sugar, oatmeal) and cooking supplies (olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper). There is one full-size bed and a futon chair that makes into a twin bed. There is room for two adults and one child. The bathroom has a full-size claw foot bathtub, perfect for steamy relaxation. The deck over looks the Carmel River, which runs year-round. CHILDREN: The property is not suited for young children. PETS: Non-shedding, spayed FEMALE dogs are allowed on a case by case basis. No male dogs, no cats and no puppies! Dogs must be over a year old, well behaved, up to date with shots, and have their own bedding and towels (no muddy paws on the white towels, please). NOTE: If you bring your dog, she is to be with you at all times and never left behind. With the exception of state parks, this is a very dog friendly area and you should have no problems taking her anywhere. SUMMER HEAT & BUGS: First, it's usually fairly hot here--the river is the perfect spot to swim or just soak your feet. Second, It would be good to bring Off! or equivalent bug spray for mosquitoes and gnats. Last, if you plan on doing any hiking make certain you bring Technu for poison oak.
The Studio is located in a small cluster of cabins. There are some vegetable gardens and minimal landscaping. For returning visitors: 10/10/16-- General Store, located one mile inland, served it's last Monday night dinner. The closest restaurants are 30 minutes away in the Village.
  • Everything was just as described and better. Super quiet surrounding with creek right next to cabin, perfect place to unwind. The WiFi only worked very early in the mornings when not too many people were using it. So we recommend you download all the music and Netflix you might need for your stay before you’ll get there :) super comfy bed, big enough for two. We’ll be back!

    Julia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia and Chris’s place was amazing! Super cozy and cute for a little couples getaway. My boyfriend and I came back feeling refreshed and zen. Beautiful mornings with coffee on the balcony. Super friendly hosts! Chris gave my boyfriend some tips for adventuring around the area. We’d love to come back!

    Brittnee2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at the studio was amazing! Marcia's detailed directions made finding the place very easy. We loved the peaceful patio by the river so much that we completely scrapped our plans to check out the town and just stayed in and relaxed. We cannot wait to return!

    Matt2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia and Chris are such special hosts that it's no wonder their space exudes such magic. If you love the outdoors and are looking for a quaint and cozy space to relax, write or talk to birds this is your spot. The price is unbeatable and it's so serene. Marcia and I had some lovely chats and she told me all about the space, I was lucky to be there during the week as I got THE grand tour. Both Chris and Marcia were so helpful from building me a fire to helping me with the fabulous bathtub they were always close by to make sure I was comfortable. If you choose to stay in this charming spot please make sure to say "hi" to the birds for me :)

    Rachel2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a cozy, serene retreat, then look no further! Marcia’s cabin is the perfect place for a quiet getaway. It is a bit of a drive, but if you don’t mind some windy roads the destination is well worth it. The cabin is very clean, and the amenities are great. We had a wonderful stay!

    Kat2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy and unique studio by the river. Easy to find, and very welcoming host. Especially during winter season I would recommend heating the stove throughout the day for a warm night. Firestarters help a lot. Everything was great, the bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed my day on the deck. The only sad thing was that I didn't have my wife with me - she would have absolutely loved the place.

    Heikki2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. The cabin was nice and cozy. The property was large and fun to explore (and just sitting by the river never gets old either). Marcia was very communicative and a sweet person. There were others on the property but it still felt secluded and off-the-grid.

    Steve2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia’s place is a little piece of heaven in the mountains of Carmel Valley. It’s a great place to stay for anyone who wants to enjoy the sights of Big Sur without breaking the piggy bank. The place is the very definition of quaint and cozy. We went during the winter season so it got a little cold so I suggest bringing some Duraflame if you don’t want to take too much time on starting a wood fire. It gets warm pretty fast. Marcia was such a thoughtful host and got us extra firewood when she thought we didn’t have enough. My boyfriend and I had such an amazing time there. We would definitely visit Marcia again :)

WE ARE NOT IN BIG SUR Travel deep into Carmel Valley and take a step back in time to this rustic, one bedroom apartment. The apartment is a unit in the main cabin, which is part of a small cluster of cabins. This is a remote setting: We are 40 minutes inland from Carmel/Monterey and and two hours away from Big Sur.
The Charles Green apartment is in the main cabin. The main cabin has three units. The Charles Green apartment is a one bedroom suite located between two studio apartments. The living room with an open ceiling, board and bat walls & wood floor, has a cozy couch in front of the stone fireplace & wood stove. There is one queen bed in the bedroom. It has a super firm mattress with a feather bed on top--quite comfy. It's an antique rope bed and very high off the ground. There is a skylight above the over-sized claw-foot bathtub, allowing for great soaks and gazing at the sky and branches of the ancient oak over-head. The kitchen has a vintage gas stove, small refrigerator, and supplies for cooking and baking. The stove is fine for roasting, but very pesky with over heating and not recommended for baking! BUGS & DUST: This is a 90 year old building in the woods. We clean several times a week; we do our best, but it is impossible to keep dust & cob webs 100% out of the space. If you require modern building, dust-free, sealed spaces, then please, please rent some place else.
We are not in Big Sur-- it takes 45 minutes to drive to the coast. The Big Sur coastline begins just south of Carmel. Big Sur proper is another 45 minutes. The Village is twenty miles (35 minute drive) towards the coast. It is only about three or four blocks long, but has at least 20 restaurants, and 15 tasting rooms. For returning visitors: 10/10/16-- General Store served it's last Monday night dinner.
  • We really enjoyed this cabin! It was a bit cold in late feb/march but they provided tons of firewood for the fire-pit and we were able to cozy up on the couch with a fire. The hosts even left us a delicious bottle of red wine! At night there was some creaking noises which kept us up a bit but overall that can be expected in a cabin setting. 3-4 mins away you can walk to the river which was beautiful! We could hear the water gushing in the background every time we stepped outside. It made the cabin area feel very relaxing. Overall we really enjoyed the stay!

  • Marcia was a great host, and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was cozy and inviting and a wonderful escape from the busyness of city life. It was so special to shower under the skylight and the kitchen was stocked for the home-cooking we try to do even on vacation. Highly recommend a walk down to the river in the morning or a fire in the fire pit on a chilly evening!

    Jess2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Carmel at the cabin! The surroundings were so beautiful & quaint & getting to warm up by the fire & relax and read was exactly what we were looking for. Everything was perfect, extra touches & thoughtful provisions were over the top, I hope to bring my little one with me next time to do more exploring! Thank you so much Marcia!

  • A simply peaceful home on an idyllic California landscape. This was exactly the right place to disconnect and unwind. There’s nothing like being warmed by only the heat of an oak-filled fireplace for days. Surrounded by ancient mossy oaks and the sound of Carmel river, it’s easy to hear your own thoughts and slow down. We had everything we could possibly need to cook full meals and all other comforts. Marcia even brought us fresh baked cookies one afternoon! Really couldn’t ask for a better getaway.

  • This rustic cabin can support a peaceful retreat for a few folks!

    Colin2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia's space will take you back in time, to a peaceful place immersed in nature. The cabin is comfortable and clean and there are trails nearby to explore the majestic oak woodlands. The soothing sound of the river is always there to calm you. There are old books and watercolor sets that will allow to to connect with your inner creator. A truly magical place.

    Brad2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful respite in nature! With the trek. I hope to return again soon.

    Jamie Lee2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The property is more magical and enchanting than I expected! This is a perfect cabin getaway if you are looking to escape the city and recharge in the woods. Marcia and Chris are exceptional hosts and helped us find anything we needed. The cabins are charming and just as Marcia has described in the listing.

  • The views are as amazing as described, if not better. We met Kevin & son at check in, nice people and great hosts. Had a little trouble with the DirecTV (reset satellite but were unable to get signal back). Bathroom is on ground floor (bedroom, living, and kitchen space are lofted) and chilly in the morning.

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful weekend staying at Kevin’s bungalow. The space itself was gorgeous, clean, and had excellent views of the valley. If you have any interest in hiking Point Lobos has breathtaking views and is less than a 30min drive away. Our favorite restaurant’s would either be Demetra’s (lunch/dinner) in downtown Carmel or the restaurant From Scratch (breakfast/brunch). Also after having read reviews on how comfy the bed was prior to check in I feel I should add on that it was quite comfortable!

  • First of all, I have to boast of the landlord's mother, an 86-year-old enthusiastic old man Jiang teacher. When we drove to the place early, she was already waiting at home, and gave us the ticket card of the aquarium booked in time, and also eagerly guided us how to park for free, so that we found the parking lot without any difficulty. Secondly, the bedroom and bathroom are very clean, the sheets and quilts are all new and have a strong aroma. The bathroom items are neat and tidy, which is a bit like staying at a five-star hotel. The kitchen can be used to boil water and microwave ovens and refrigerators. It is convenient for us to make simple meals. Of course, she also asks if she needs tableware, even if we have our own. It’s about 20 minutes drive from Monterey and 17 miles away. Thanks again to Kevin and his mother Jiang, if you come back later, we will definitely choose your home! We are also very willing to recommend to friends, I wish you good health and a smooth career! (Shanghai Friends: Corten )

  • This place is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, or a week long getaway. You overlook the water and the path to the beach is a quick 3 minute walk down. The view is unbelievable. You hang out on the cliff, engulfed by the glorious beauty of the forever pounding ocean. Leave your white noise machines at home. The melodic drum of the waves crashing is perfect for bed time as well as meditating on the glorious, sunsoaked deck. Seashells abound in the early morning. The tides bring in some especially fantastic jewels across the coastline.

  • WOW. If you're thinking the place is a little out of your price range, ask yourself what does a beautiful unique location on the beach mean to you. Then ask yourself, again, about all the times you might have tried to save a little. This is NOT one of those times!! The breathtaking views, comfy amenities and delicious, refreshing sounds and feel of rolling ocean waves make it all worthwhile. Indulge. Enjoy. You're worth it. You never know what you're missing, but this place is not to be missed. Monie's hospitality tops it all off with a healthy dose of comfort and accommodation.

    Candace2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little beach cabin! The cabin is set closer to the beach than most. Definitely a plus! It's tucked into the hillside and because of its position among some bonsai-like shrubbery, it turned out to be very private. The view and sunsets are spectacular! The cozy beach motif of the inside is well balanced with a large panoramic window sitting space and the cabin is well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, condiments, coffee, and teas - all the basics. The nights are silent, nothing but the sounds of the waves to fall asleep to. Truly paradise.

Floor to ceiling windows look out to beautiful large tiled patio and gardens. Window coverings assure your privacy. Our repeat guests love the studio and have affirmed our commitment to providing you with a wonderfully relaxing stay with us. The Calendar is updated daily - feel free to book instantly - the studio is always ready for guests. Please be aware that the second bed (for a third guest), is a twin air bed, which can be found in the closet with extra linens. It can be "tight" with the airbed opened but okay for a place to sleep and then deflate bed during the day, if you are on a budget or for a child. Although we have tried to be as transparent as possible with our description, we invite you to check all of the amenities section for a complete list. Pooches welcome with prior approval! ( $29. pet fee per pooch, per visit.) Completely fenced-in yard, within walking distance to a lovely nature preserve. Pooches are not to be left unattended in yard, due to barking and other issues. We do not accept cats or birds in the studio. If you like peace and privacy, this is the place for you. Please see pet guidelines further down in this description! Come and go as you please at any hour of the day or night without the fear of disturbing us, as you have your own entrance and do not go through the main house at all. Enjoy this fabulous super sunny master bedroom studio, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on huge fenced tiled patio with fruit trees and gardens. I am most welcoming, yet unobtrusive, so that you will find this to be a comfortable oasis. I travel often, of course, I am reachable for any questions, advice, requests or needs via the AirBnB booking thread or cell phone for any urgent matters. You will enter through a side gate, walk down the adobe paved path, lit with motion-sensor spots, through the heirloom roses, which are highly scented when in bloom. No need to go through the main house, as the studio is separate from the rest of the main house, (although attached by one common wall.) You will walk past the main house to enter the studio. Super-private and very quiet, except for the birds, yet centrally located; five minutes to downtown Monterey, Laguna Seca Raceway or CSUMB and ten minutes to Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is a 24-hour Safeway and Walgreen's just 2 minutes away, in case you have any midnight cravings! Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are 10 minutes away. We are located in a wonderful little sun belt, perched high upon a hilltop with a nice view of Monterey Bay in a very quiet residential neighborhood, so typically we are above any fog – especially during the summer season when the rest of the Monterey Peninsula could be socked-in! We are at the top of a street which ends in a cul-de-sac so there is not a lot of through traffic and super-easy street parking right in front of the house. Painted in a soothing palette and tastefully furnished, the studio is comprised of large sunny master bedroom with hardwood floors and your own private updated Travertine marble bathroom (shower - no tub) supplied with towels, hairdryer and high-quality toiletries. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of patio, creating a sunny and bright ambiance. A dimmer switch for the overhead chandelier, a writing table, and new smart TV with remote control plus wi-fi make your stay complete. If you do watch a program or film that has an additional viewing cost on Amazon or Netflix, you will be billed after your checkout. The detailed FAQ binder has been very helpful to our guests and includes restaurant menus and helpful suggestions. Also, there is a lot of info on the local area and attractions. The studio is heated through vents by a gas forced-air furnace, (controlled by the thermostat located in the main house) and if you need extra heat, there are more blankets plus a space heater for your complete comfort. It rarely gets that cold here, but if we do get a cold snap in Jan or Feb I want you to be totally comfortable! A fan is there for those hot days we get once in a while! Sleep peacefully in the Queen-sized bed outfitted with 100% cotton linens (line dried when possible) and cozy blankets, then enjoy breakfast outside on the patio when weather permits. Our guests have raved about the bed! For an extra guest, there is a twin air bed. (tight but doable if you are on a budget or traveling with child.) We use scent-free laundry products. The kitchenette/breakfast bar includes a new microwave, and coffee maker (filters provided - byo coffee please.) The under-the-counter fridge has a separate freezer compartment with ice trays big enough for some frozen foods or ice cream. (Note: this is not a full kitchen, so please don't plan any major cooking in the room.) Set up for reheating, take out, etc. We switched to compostable cups, plates, silverware, etc. There are real wine glasses and mugs. NOTE! We ask that you don't use all appliances at once while using hairdryer, as it may trigger the circuit breaker. Access is through the large fenced-in beautiful, sunny patio in the backyard, filled with organic raised bed vegetable gardens which change seasonally, fruit trees and roses. This is a great location, centrally located between Highway One and Highway 68, near the recreation trail, Frog Pond, beaches and terrific hills for a morning or evening stroll. No smoking inside – okay on patio. Dogs allowed with extra charge of $29. per visit, per pooch. Please advise in advance of any dogs when you are making your booking - i will then send you an alteration to add the pet fee. Pets must be supervised in the backyard at all times. You will be responsible for any pet damage to property. There is a pet section in the FAQ binder which has lots of dog-friendly places in the area. Please also read the following PET GUIDELINES: - dogs are not permitted on the furniture - dogs may only be left in studio if they are kenneled and do not bark when left alone in an unfamiliar place, no exceptions - please bring your own pet bedding and do not use towels, bedspread or bath mats for dogs - dogs may not be left unattended on the back patio, due to complaints of excessive barking and digging - dogs not allowed in garden beds - when walking your pooch, please avoid the neighbors across the street on either corner, as they have complained and I want to keep my neighbors happy! Also, please pick up after your pooch and dispose of properly. A sophisticated foodie and twenty-nine year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, I am a great resource of information if needed. Also, the studio is also stocked with books on the area, local magazines & brochures, and a binder with menus from my favorite restaurants, brochures and information on local attractions, plus various local offers are stashed in the desk drawer. There is a fully equipped gym 2 minutes away for those who want to get their workout in. Check out the desk drawers for passes to one of our local wine tasting rooms and other attractions, as they come available. If you need restaurant recommendations prior to arrival, I am happy to assist. My edited list of favorite go-to spots are in the FAQ binder. If your party is larger than two (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance with questions about twin air bed prior to your arrival. (stored with extra linens in the closet.) Rates may be slightly higher during major events including AT&T Pro-Am, Concours d'Elegance, US Open, Jazz Festival, etc. I live in the main house. Though we do clean the studio thoroughly between guests, you should be aware that we are a dog-friendly property. No cats allowed in the studio. Do you want to experience the Monterey Peninsula like a local? Do you need a centrally located home to enjoy the Concours d'Elegance, the AT&T golf tournament, or any of the other special events here? If so, consider staying at the Blue House, where Lover's Point and the Pacific Ocean are right down the street! You'll be close to the aquarium, downtown Monterey, with a short drive to both Big Sur and Carmel.
Our cottage is cozy, warm and inviting. It has an open floor plan that meshes well with the white oak floors. There are large picture windows with a bench to take advantage of the corner lot. Our kitchen is outfitted with modern appliances, a wine fridge and granite countertops. The bedrooms are of ample size with comfortable furnishings. There is a queen sized bed which is latex mattress and a full sized bed in the other. If there’s a 5th guest, they are able to sleep on the couch, though it’s not a pullout bed. Each room has a sitting area for quiet reading. Lounge on the sofa and light a fire in the Carmel stone fireplace.
Our home is perfectly situated to allow access to all that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer. The ocean is very close and is visible down the street; so close that you can hear crashing waves and barking sea lions. Both downtown Pacific Grove and Lovers Point are just a stroll away. If you are staying in PG on a Monday, cruise down to Central Avenue. There you will find a quaint farmers market full of local fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers, fish and more. Our neighborhood is quiet and residential, and our neighbors are very friendly. The Blue House is great for relaxing with family and friends.
  • Beautifully maintained historical architecture in a sweet sweet little city. Also very cozy to be in.

My colleague and i stayed here for a 2-day conference and enjoyed having a quiet, comfortable, cozy place to come back to in the evenings. We enjoyed the big kitchen, all the light coming in the front room in the morning, and the clean, open bedrooms. Thank you for an outstanding stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay with Linda! The room was cute, private, and comfortable, and close to many great locations in Monterey.

    Brooke2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's house is clean and the location is easy to find. It was very cold at night, and maybe no heating was found. There are many instructions on the wall, and even the shower host will ask to wipe off the water, so the check-in experience is a bit nervous, for fear of doing something wrong.

  • Great little house with easy access to Monterey + passes for the Aquarium!

    Julie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved staying here! It’s a quick drive to the beach, Monterey Bay Aquarium, great parks, and many restaurants. The house is in a residential area with a park down the street. We felt perfectly safe in the neighborhood. The house is fairly basic but met our needs - there were pots & pans, plenty of towels, and some kitchen basics like salt & pepper. The two aquarium passes are a huge bonus and made an affordable stay an even better deal. Being able to go a couple of mornings allowed us to see more without rushing or trying to push through after our toddler got too tired in the afternoons.

    Stephanie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice time at Lisa's place! Everything was as advertised and the location was great!

    John2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely worth it if you're going to the aquarium. The member passes were a life saver for us and we were able to add an extra day to our vacation from what we saved because of them! The place was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. Would definitely recommend.

    Bri2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, everything as reported. Thanks, Lisa!

    Amy Lynn2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We truly felt at home away from home during our short stay at Lisa's place. The house has everything you need and we particularly enjoyed the comfortable beds. Even though we didn't meet in person, Lisa made us feel welcome by talking on the phone with us. We ran into a minor issue with hot water in the kitchen and Lisa took care of it promptly the next day (It turned out we didn't let it run long enough). We look forward to staying at Lisa's place again the next time we'll be on the Monterey Peninsula.

    Alexandra2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a two bedroom house in a terrific location. It is a fairly quiet neighborhood. The free aquarium passes were an added bonus. Lisa is a great host and very quick to respond to any questions. We cooked several meals and found all the kitchen tools we needed.

Located in a quiet area in Seaside on the Monterey Peninsula. An older home that is clean and cozy. A perfect place for families or groups to stay while enjoying the beautiful area. Enjoy the chickens in the backyard and the fresh eggs for breakfast
This home features three bedrooms and one large bathroom between two of the bedrooms. Guests in the third bedroom will need to go through one of the other bedrooms to access the bathroom. There is a full kitchen, dining room, and living room. There is a sunny deck in the rear yard, also there is a long drive way for off street parking. The chickens residing in our backyard are a fun attraction to all guests, young or old.
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood, once occupied by a large family of twelve. This is our family home and is truly loved by all of us. We would like to share the home with our guests and the peaceful feeling that you will have while staying there. In our neighborhood there is convenient market-and-deli within a short walking distance with all of your emergency needs. There is a great neighborhood dog park within a couple blocks of the home. A very friendly and family-oriented neighborhood.
  • Our stay at Dennis’s place was far beyond expectations. The pictures didn’t do it justice. It was homie, super clean, and the beds all so comfortable. Perfect for a set of five to have their space but also bond over a couple days in a beautiful town. Super convenient to the 1, we used it as a launching pad between Big Sur, exploring Monterey nearby, and Henry Cowell redwood grove about an hour away. Also the cute garden in the front yard and the chickens and rabbits in the backyard were really fun for us to hang around with!

  • If you’re looking for a great place to rest in Monterey, look no more, stay with Annie and Jack! Their place offers privacy and comfort while being accesible from all interest points. We would enjoy the 5-10min drive from every attraction and restaurant we visited. Annie and Jack recommended some great places to eat and sight see. We’ve stayed in tons of places and It’s a pleasure to stay with host who truly enjoy hosting. Annie goes the extra mile. She made some delicious banana bread to have upon our arrival, and during our stay her and Jack made sure to connect with us and our 2 year old. Above all, Annie adds her special touches to the place and you really go without missing any essentials. Shampoo, conditioner, extra towels and blankets, etc. Expect to find coffee, tea and some nuts to snack on. Place is warm on cold nights, and bed is comfy. There’s no TV, but I doubt you’d need one after a whole day of outdoor activities, you will be beat. We stayed three nights and we’d gladly return to their place. Come meet Annie and Jack, you’d be glad you did!

  • This space was a great start to our vacation in Monterey and Big Sur. Annie and Jack were very welcoming and gracious, offering local tips on must-see attractions, and the cottage also felt like our own private getaway. They made it feel very homey with little touches (like a delicious homemade lemon cake waiting of us). Highly recommend!

  • Such a cozy place to stay! It is an adorable cottage with its own private gated yard. The house is in walking distance of restaurants, shopping, etc. while also being in a quiet residential area. The hosts made it easy to check in and out and were great about listing places to explore. I will definitely be coming back 💖

    MacKenzie2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a booking made for my Mum and Dad, who were spending a few days in Monterey. Annie and Jack could not have been more friendly, helpful or responsive. And even though their location, just up the hill about 15 minutes' walk from Cannery Row, is already great, they still offered a lift from the Amtrak bus. The studio cottage is really cosy and has everything you need, and there's fantastic collection of music books, pictures and memorabilia to give it a really lively feel. Lovely little place and fantastic hosts!

Our private detached guest cottage is super charming with its wood burning fireplace, large deck and stunning ocean views. We are a short distance to The Lodge, famous 17 Mile Drive & Seddon Cove. We are located in the exclusive Estate section of Pebble Beach. Centrally located- 5 min to Carmel Beach, 7 min to Carmel, 10 min to Monterey/Pacific Grove, 30 min to Big Sur. Non refundable 7 night booking required for US Open and Concours. Best value in Pebble, walk to Pebble Beach Lodge.
This is a super charming and very private guest cottage, approximately 1000 sq ft, that is fully enclosed by a privacy fence with it's own entry gate located at the back of our nearly one acre Pebble Beach estate. The entire property spans a gently sloping hill that affords beautiful views of the ocean, Point Lobos and Pebble Beach. Pull through our electric gate and up the hill to your own little piece of paradise. The cottage has one very large bedroom with a super comfy king size bed, a fully stocked kitchen (complimentary tea and coffee), full bathroom (shower only- no tub), and washer and dryer. For additional guests (up to 6) there is a full size sofa bed and two twin cots. Private parking next to the cottage for two cars. The cottage has Wi-fi, Apple TV and cable TV. This is truly the best place to stay in the area, and we offer the best value. You won't be disappointed.
We live in the most beautiful and exclusive area of Pebble Beach, surrounded by other beautiful gated estates. We are central to everything, yet it also feels like we are a million miles from civilization. You are a 7 minute drive to Carmel, and 10-12 minutes from Monterey and Pacific Grove. We regularly see deer in our neighborhood, as well as all sorts of other wildlife and birds. The star gazing on a clear night is insanely beautiful, and when the wind is blowing just the right way, you can hear the waves crashing on the beach as you lie in bed or relax on the deck. There are sea lions and otters down at the beaches. Point Lobos is an amazing place to hike and is a short 15 minute drive from us. You can walk to The Lodge as well as a beautiful private beach (about a 20 -30 minute walk down the hill), and we are just a few blocks from the famous 17 mile drive.

  • I really loved this place. Clean, open, comfortable, and Ashley was a wonderful host.

  • Ashley's Cottage was super cozy and one of the most functional Air B & Bs we've stayed in. In fact, we joked that we wish we could move in! The set up of her place is awesome, with a great sized kitchen and a full washer and dryer if needed. Overall, this place had a super great value, was private, and Ashley was very sweet!

    Natalie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It's everything that was posted. The place is a short drive to everything we wanted to do.

  • Cute little place. I stayed here for a conference rather than at the Embassy Suites, and it was every bit as comfortable and much more reasonably priced.

    Herman2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley was a wonderful host. She thought of everything for this little guest house. Check-in was easy with the combination, she has a detailed guidebook, brochures, mirrors, hairdryer, and laundry. The guest house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, close to Monterey and Carmel. In the kitchen, Ashley has thoughtfully provided filtered water. The kitchen is otherwise pretty basic, and works for a quick breakfast or heating leftovers. If you're visiting the area, you must try some of the great local restaurants! Our favorite from this trip was Basil's in Carmel. The aquarium, Pebble Beach, Carmel and other attractions were only 10-20 minutes drive away. This is a great economical place from which to see Monterey bay!

  • Ashley and Jeremiah were AMAZING hosts. This cute little cottage made a perfect retreat for my boyfriend and I during Valentine's Day. We will definitely be back!

This is a cozy detached guest cottage in the heart of the estate section of Pebble Beach just a stone's throw from 17 mile drive with fantastic views! Walking distance to the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Non refundable 7 night booking required for US Open and Concours. Best value in Pebble, walk to Pebble Beach Lodge.
Quaint and very spacious detached guest cottage perched atop a hillside with beautiful views of Pebble Beach and the ocean. Amazing sunsets. Lots of bright light and windows that can be opened up to take in the aromatic coastal breezes. Vintage Monterey Pine wood paneling, plush pillow top king size bed, private bath with walk in shower, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and tea kettle. There is a pull out sofa bed and extra linens (in the ottoman) for additional guests. Onsite parking. Close to the Lodge, the Spa and The Beach and Tennis Club, a 7 minute drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea, 10 min to Pacific Grove and Monterey, 20 min to Carmel Valley, 30 min to Big Sur. Free access to 17 Mile Drive. We live in the main residence of this one acre estate. We are available if needed but will respect your privacy as well. We love this area. It is simply the most beautiful and serene place to visit and stay. At night there are no street lights and you can see the stars on clear evenings. It is so peaceful and quiet. You can frequently hear the waves break on the distant beach when you open your windows, and sometimes even hear seals. The sunsets are insanely gorgeous (when it’s not foggy). We see numerous deer and wildlife on our daily walks. The famous 17 Mile Drive is just a few blocks away and is all it is built up to be. Plus we are so close to Carmel-by-the-Sea, with its quaint little shops and restaurants. We are centrally located between Carmel, Pacific Grove and Monterey in a quiet gated community with beautiful private beaches, stunning vistas and sprawling gated estates. What is there not to love? Welcome to Paradise. Taxi and uber service is available, and you can bike to most locations... but honestly, most guests have a car...

Our studio is in beautiful woods in pebble beach. Starting point of 17mile drive, very close to famous pebble beach Golf courses .
  • What a treat to stay at this place! Communication was quick and respectful! The place was sparkling clean and the bed was soooo comfortable! The location on the 17-mile drive was AMAZING! Do yourself a favor and stay at this airb&b if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful stay!

  • Luna's guesthouse was great! Maybe the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and the place was ridiculously clean. No issues with the security gate, just give them the address, and check in was so easy with a keypad door lock. Highly recommend three things: 1) sit out on the small patio under the trees and listen to the birds in the morning 2) arriving in daylight, the area is in the forest so streets are very dark! 3) Staying here! Great place and will definitely be back. :)

The location is superb as it is only a few minutes drive to Ocean Ave and also to the beach. Melanie, the host, is friendly and communicative. She recommended a restaurant called Yafa and it turned out to be the best food we had the whole trip! Overall great stay, thank you!

  • I had high expectations for my stay from reading previous reviews and Mark did not disappoint! He was thoughtful, kind and his place was spotless. I was in town for the Kyle Cease meditation retreat and Mark’s house offered the quiet reflection spot I needed for a tremendous experience during the retreat.

    Sage2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Easy check-in, very clean room and private bathroom, it seemed to be away from the main part of the house so it was very private and quiet. Mark was home when we checked in and was very polite and showed us around. He offers water, teas, coffee and creamer and has a keurig machine. There is a microwave and mini fridge in the room. TV has Netflix and Amazon. The bed was a little firmer than I’m used to (I like really soft beds) but my husband loved it. There are extra blankets if you get cold. Also, the driveway is very steep, so if you have a very low car (like I do), just go very slow and at an angle. Great host, great place and great location! Thank you!!

    Jacqueline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s home was perfect for my short business stay. Quiet and a peaceful environment is what I needed and that’s what I got at his place. Nice space, bed and the essential things, such a great value! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

    Alfonso2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s place was lovely, quiet, sparkling clean and peaceful. He had created detailed instructions for check in and placed notes around the room in case you ever needed anything which was amazing. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area!

  • My boyfriend and I wanted a romantic week getaway in Carmel Valley so we could sip wine and enjoy Big Sur - and that’s exactly what we got! The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that the bathroom is not attached to the bedroom so you have to step outside to go pee in the middle of the night - which freaked me out at first and I’m not sure if I ever got used to it. The shower is great except for the fact that the toilet is in the same room and I was a little sad there was no bathtub. Overall, amazing place, location, amenities, and value. It was a great spot to come back to after our adventures in Big Sur. I especially loved how amazing Gina and Jay were - sending is private notes with recommendations where to go - and we top every single recommendation and they did not disappoint! We really felt well taken care of. Would definitely stay here again.

    Amelia2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

    Madeline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect two-night getaway on our trip down the coast! Some of our favorite time in the area was time spent on the back deck of the cottage reading and sipping wine.

  • Clean and as pretty as advertised!

    Jennifer2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, especially when the weather is nice and you can be out on the deck or hammock. We had unusually cold rainy weather for most of our time here, but got one nice morning to enjoy the hot tub. It was wonderfully private for our romantic getaway. We loved the little touches of the free bottle of wine/champagne, the bathrobes, and sandals to use with the hot tub, and all the suggestions for local experiences to enjoy. We would definitely come stay again.

    Karen2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was the PERFECT place to spend our honeymoon! So romantic and beautiful! If you are nature lovers it’s a must! We were just a small drive from Big Sur and Monterey. We loved the place and raved about it the whole time! Lol

Mountain setting in a snug cabin with beautiful views, great hiking.
The house was my sculpting studio for years, and before that, a hay barn. It's now a snug cabin with lofty views of the wild Los Padres National Forest. The surrounding vineyards and hiking areas make this a perfect getaway for artists, writers or anyone wishing to escape the hustle of city life. This is a ranch setting, a scenic 45 minute drive from downtown Carmel. Excellent hiking trails are accessible from the ranch into the Los Padres National Forest. Enjoy views of several vineyards surrounding the property, each with wine tasting rooms in Carmel Valley village, 20 minutes from the ranch. This unique and beautiful area on the central coast of California is far enough inland from the coast to enjoy distinct seasons. Summer can be hot in our mountain valley, ranging from the sweltering 90s to perfect 70s, depending on coastal fog and temperature fluctuations. Spring is gorgeous, always, with a field of wildflowers in front of the cabin through May. Fall and Winter are beautiful, green and bright, but the nights are chilly. Once in a great while- not often enough these years- it will rain! Come prepared for the season. Hikes and walks through the surrounding vineyards, around the mountain behind the house, or into the nearby wilderness area. Trek up to Tassajara Hot Springs, or visit the MIRA Observatory on the remote end of our valley, or visit Carmel, Pacific Grove and Monterey for numerous cultural and tourist attractions, including the famed Monterey Bay Aquarium. Whale Watching excursions from Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf provide amazing and up close encounters with migrating whales and other marine life.
The stars at night, the birds, peacocks, deer and other wildlife, the walk behind the house up to the vineyard and the mountaintop yoga platform, the view of the Los Padres National Forest, and the hike behind Los Padres Dam are attractions in the immediate area.
  • Decided to take a trip here with my girls friend for my birthday. It was even better than expected. Kris’ directions were spot on and very detailed and we found the place even in the dark (although she does recommend you drive up there while the suns out since there are minimal lights around the area). The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. Definitely felt like home. Cozy cabin vibe and you have a large part of the land outside to yourself. We’ve already recommended this place to a couple of our friends! Highly recommend!

    Emmanuel2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Me and my wife stayed here on our honeymoon and we loved it.

    Christian2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a wonderful place to stay. I am sad we couldn't stay longer. The house was super cozy with plenty of charm, a rustic setting, and so many amenities. Do your grocery shopping for your stay beforehand because you don't want to make the mountain trek too often. Once you get there, settle in, hike the grounds, watch the horses graze, and enjoy the incredible peace and quiet of the area. An amazing place to get out of the hustle and bustle to recharge your batteries.

    Grant2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! Kris is so attentive and really made sure we were comfortable in the space! Such a great experience!

    Cristian2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kris' place was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend and certainly plan on going again!

    Naomi2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kris' cabin was incredible in so many ways. The views are spectacular, hiking right out the back door and Kris was an amazing host. Highly recommend.

    Neil2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a so lovely experience in Kris’s house. It’s like my dream house. The house is so delicate—with beautiful paintings, carvings, fabrics, and even interesting tiny musical instruments. Kris is also a considerate host, and her house has almost everything I need. Maps, guides, kitchenware, and even her cute handwritings about the surroundings. I had an unforgettable time playing guitar on her roof, and cooking for my love in her sunny kitchen. These memories will never fade away:)

    Windy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for a quiet, somewhat remote place to stay and unplug while I was in the area for work. Kris' place has all the rustic charm I was looking for and Kris is sweet as pie. Her directions to find the place were super helpful as I ended up arriving in the dark. She was always quick to communicate, offer local suggestions, or even just let me be as needed.
