Places to stay in Scarriff
Recently renovated, our stylish, open plan barn conversion is set in the idyllic rural landscape of County Clare. It adjoins our 150 year old stone farmhouse, and offers a self-contained holiday space ideal for those who like peace and quiet 'off the beaten track'. The clever use of space means you have your own kitchen, dining and sleeping area with a small en suite shower/toilet and the living space includes a unique Bluthner grand piano for the musically minded!
The accommodation is on the ground floor and has ample parking outside. We are about half a mile down a leafy, wooded laneway from the main Ennis road. There is a wood burning stove with fuel provided. A car is recommended as public transport is limited, however walkers and cyclists are welcome, (we can offer lifts if we are around). We are just 2- 3 mins drive (20 min walk) from the local village of Tuamgraney with its well known gastro-pub Nuala's. Scariff town with shopping, post office bank etc is 5 mins drive away. As the fields around us have sheep and cattle we are not keen to host furry friends (pets)...although we do love them! We have a log haired cat, but she doesn't chase sheep.
We are situated just over a mile from Lough Derg and the Shannon, surrounded by mountains and lakes. This area of east Clare is well known for it's natural beauty and offers fishing, hill walking, water sports, historic sites, great pubs and restaurants and scenic harbours at Mountshannon and Killaloe. There is plenty to do in the area, (see http://www.discoverloughderg.ie/lough-derg-blueway/). You could include a boat trips to Holy Island, or go sailing at the University of Limerick's Watersport's Centre, go horse riding in the Bernagh mountains, or play golf (www.eastclaregolfclub.ie). There is a local artisan chocolate factory and renowned Mc Kieran weavers (see http://scarves.ie). Our accommodation is also well situated for visits to the west Clare, the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands, Galway and historic Limerick.
  • The Barn is lovely place to go and relax. Nicola did all she could to make us feel welcome. The stove is a lovely touch.

  • Nicola's cottage is a dream. It's quite, and cozy with thoughtful little touches. The chair by the fireplace was my favorite part of the weekend, quietly reading by the fire. We arrived late and Nicola has already started the fire for us so the cottage was warm and welcoming. And she was accommodating with our schedule on check-out day which made planning our trip a breeze. It was like a mini country get-a-way and retreat weekend! Thank you Nicola! We hope to return again soon!

  • A fantastic picturesque place to stay. A beautiful part of Co Clare within a short distance to some amazing places to visit. Close to the village shops and pubs. Very clean and comfortable. Nicola was always on hand to reply to any questions etc. Would definitely return.

  • I would write a huge long review but there really is no need. Just visit this beautiful place and see for yourself. Hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The cabins spotlessly clean and very stylish. Amenities are more than you could ask for. I will be back for sure. Can’t big this place up enough so just go and enjoy the experience yourself and get away from it all! Keep up the fantastic work Brendan & Rachel. Seán

A small slice of paradise on the sunny side of Lough Derg:-) The boathouse is self contained with full kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine bed. Private veranda with seating for 2 and a small BBQ. (No pets allowed)
  • Barry’s place was everything we could have hoped for. Such a cute cabin right on Lough Derg. Barry was one of the nicest hosts we’ve ever encountered. STAY HERE!!

    Emily2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat? Barry's place is what you've been looking for! The cottage is on Lough Derg and the only things you can hear are the water and the birds singing... Barry was such a great host, very fast reacting and replying to queries, his mum was lovely too. Would definitely recommend going there!

    Alexane2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • So beautiful and tranquil.... The perfect getaway and Barry was so helpful and accommodating😊

    Maria2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Unreal spot will defo be back Barry is a top man 🤝

    Jamie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best AirBnB's that I've ever stayed in, and completely represents everything that is great about this platform - a unique space, in a beautiful location, hosted by a genuinely friendly and welcoming person. The place is exactly as described - it is right on the water and the doors and windows frame the lake beautifully and make it feel like the lake is all yours. Barry is a great host - on hand for anything we needed! Can't recommend this place enough.

    Tim2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a lovely spot right beside Lough Derg. Very peaceful and calm. The place is cosy and clean. The only issue I found is that the cabin isn’t very private. There are blinds on most windows but they don’t give much privacy and it’s easy for someone to come around without much warning. Apart from that everything is absolutely great - I would defiantly recommend. A very relaxing little spot.

    Dora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spot to while away a few days and get away from it all. It's a bird watchers paradise, even has a resident kingfisher. If you get up early enough you will see him close up along with the sunrise over the lake. Magical. Barry is the perfect host and lives behind so all your needs are well looked after. If you have a canoe or stand up it's an ideal spot to get on this beautiful stretch of water. The stove in the evening is really cosy and the boathouse has everything you need. Be aware that the climb up and down to the mezzanine bed is short but properly vertical. Fine for the average person. I loved the time I spent there and have it on my list to go back.

    Orla2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Little house in dream about the lake. Waking up in the morning overlooking the lake and the coast on the other side and falling asleep to the sound of the water next to the wood burning fireplace. A true haven of peace and tranquility. In addition Barry worried that we were at all times at ease, he left us with fresh firewood and recommendations on places to visit. Thanks Barry for your kindness !!

  • I had the most amazing time in Flagmount wild garden! Brendan and Rachel were the perfect hosts 🤗.Flagmount garden is a spiritual place and I really felt amazing after my time spent there to reflect; spend time in nature and to enjoy serenity and a quiet mind. It is a little patch of heaven and I highly recommend to anyone looking to find themselves again and recharge your batteries 🙏. Thank you so much Brendan and Rachel!!

  • Once again, myself and Martin, we wanted to thank you Brendan! We couldn't imagine a better place to relax and take a deep breathe. The cabin was amazing, with those tiny things (as the books or CD's) which made the place. The view from the cabin was a nice refreshment for us on the morning. We had everything that we wanted and even more.

  • This Is the sort of place I yearn for. Peaceful, quiet, beautiful, safe, warm & private,...it was like a soothing balm & I felt grounded & rested afterwards & I wanted to return before I had even left. Brendan & his family were lovely & welcoming & it's an amazing place. The cabin was a lovely big space, so toasty & comfortable & connected to nature no matter which way you look. Unforgettable experience.

  • Beautiful little cottage. The hot-tub and sauna were excellent.

    Niall2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the stay, hot tub was great add to the stay and the place is so modern with its fittings whilst been rustic in appearance. We stayed in winter and can confirm it is very warm and cosy. Would be perfect for couples or small familys .

    Sorcha2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts, very helpful. Great place to stay, nespresso machine sauna and hot tub are a huge bonus. Basic essentials provided. I took a wrong turn on the way and ended up stuck in a ditch, hosts came and got me out, really appreciated. Would definitely stay again.

    Rachael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is super cute and cozy, everything was really clean and with all the services that you need. They left milk and bread for breakfast. The jacuzzi and the sauna are fab. We will repeat for sure, such an amazing experience in a really nice spot in the countryside, for disconnect your mind is brilliant.

    Cristina2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Milking Parlour was a great place to stay. It’s exactly as advertised and Steve was very accommodating (apologies again for getting the car stuck). There are a lot of nice touches around the house including the stove and the hot water bottles and having the hot tub/sauna is a great flourish. A lot of thought went into the house and it shows.

    Kieran2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Came in for a night in February, it had been a cold and rainy day. Steve had the fire going for us. It was nice to come into. We also had some basic breakfast supplies left such as coffee/tea, fresh eggs from their chickens, bread, and extras. It was a nice set up and private. It's in the country, so great for peace.

    Natasha2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing and tranquil spot. Great hosts that allowed for total privacy while still being close by if we might have needed anything. The separate jacuzzi and sauna are a really nice touch. If you want somewhere to go to switch off, this is the place to go. Would be very happy to stay here again!

    Joe2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very lovely spot for couples or two people. Jess and Steve, were very good hosts, who answered all the questions and requests we had. The building had English connects for the plug sockets, which was a blessing and the Rayburn was great at keeping the place warm. The hot tube was lovely and we took full advantage of this facility.

This little wooden house in the middle of the Clare Mountains is the perfect getaway for one or two nature loving people. You are surrounded by peace and tranquillity, beautiful hiking routes are at your door step and the beautiful medieval town of Killaloe on the shores of the Shannon and Lough Derg is only a short drive away. Inside this private hideout there is one bedroom and a small bathroom with shower and toilet. A shared kitchen and living room are in the main house.
Inside the "garden hut" you will find a double sofa bed, a desk, shelves and a wardrobe. In the bathroom there is a toilet and an electric shower. The space is brightly lit and has that "special" warm and comfortable feel of a wooden building. The space is heated by an electric heater as well as a cast iron stove. Only 20 yards away, in the main building, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting room and a laundry room, all of which you are welcome to share.
Killlaoe is a beautiful old town on the shores of the river Shannon and Lough Derg. It is famous for it's fishing and water sports. The house itself is the perfect starting point for a hike up the highest mountain of Co.Clare, Moylussa.
  • The views were amazing here! If you’re looking for a quiet, out if the way place to see the Irish countryside, this is it. Important to note- this is a guesthouse with just a main room and a bathroom. The bed is a sofa bed but it was very comfortable! The bathroom was heated and had great hot water in the shower. If you need a kitchen, laundry, or WiFi you do have to go to the main house which you have access to only when the family is home. Joachim and his son were very friendly. We would stay again- and to say it again, the views!! Wow!!

    Becky2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little private cabin on the property. Very quiet and remote location - yet closeby to nearby activities. It’s about 15 minutes to Killaloe/Balina, about 1.5 hours to Dublin, and about 2 hours to the Cliffs of Moher. Joachim was very kind and helpful as a host. We’d highly recommend this place.

    Lauryn2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful setting. Great host. Bring a camera for amazing pictures of the true Ireland.

    Rick2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Joachim is kind and helpful. The studio is independent but Joachim was never far away when needed. Nestled in nature, calm guaranteed. Car highly recommended however if you have to go to town, without fearing the winding country roads but that's part of the charm. Particularly interesting price for independent housing

    Thierry2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The House was very cute. It‘s a perfect place to make a walk. On the hills you can have a great view! Joachim ist a very nice guy, who have us many information about this beautiful country.

  • Stayed in Roisin and Charlie's place recently. This was just home from home. Fridge was stocked with essentials for our first night........Roisin even provided dressing gowns and hot water bottles (which we were glad of as the weather turned nasty). This is an ideal property if you just want to get away from it all. Situated overlooking the lake in Killaloe it is ideal for touring the surrounding countryside. Roisin and Charlie were amazing hosts and even provided us with fresh eggs every day. Thank you again and for all the laugh and chats we had. Highly recommended and hope to visit again one day .....when the weather is better!

  • My girlfriend and I were looking for a cottage style place in the countryside of Ireland as we were driving from Dublin to The Cliffs of Moher & Galway. We were so excited to find this place. It was very clean, had breathtaking views (especially sunset over the moutnains & lake), and Roisin & Charlie were the best hosts and very communicative. We would highly recommend this place for a getaway and would love to return if we're in the area again.

The cabin is a cosy self-contained space, carefully designed to relax and inspire. Stay in either of the two bespoke bedrooms, with beds so comfy you won't want to leave. Both feature raised floors giving you stunning nature views with additional areas to have some quiet time away from the main living space. The rest of the cabin boasts an open plan living, kitchen and dining area that will cater to all of your needs. The living space is comprised of cloudlike couches, where you can put your feet up and relax to the sounds of the wood-burning stove. Read a book, watch some Netflix or connect to the portable speaker. If you feel like cooking, the space also hosts a fully kitted out kitchen with all the herbs, spices and sauces you need to cook up a storm. If being in the kitchen is your idea of hell, don't worry. There's plenty of snacks to nibble on too! The cabin has WiFi and an iPad at your disposal. But if you'd prefer to disconnect, we've got plenty of board games, art materials, playing cards, books and magazines to keep you entertained. The open plan area gives way to the outer deck where you can dine al fresco under cover, sit back and relax in our super comfy outdoor couches or just take in the sounds of flowing water and birds singing as you look out over the lovely landscape. Explore the one-acre property where you will discover an abundance of special surprises. Beginning behind the cabin, enter ancient Irish ruins before following the forest path through the garden. Just beyond is a slow-moving stream that runs the length of the property. Follow this downriver for another treat! In recent times, a special section of land was purchased from the neighbouring farmer, giving guests exclusive access to an enchanting riverside walk. Located on an extremely popular walking trail, and within ten minutes of local villages Killaloe and Ballina, Boreen works as both a peaceful retreat and a perfect base to see nearby sights and to explore charming towns.
Boreen is situated within ten minutes of several lovely villages including heritage twin towns Killaloe and Ballina. These charming villages are widely recognised as some of Ireland’s most picturesque towns. Linked by a 300-year-old arch stone bridge over the River Shannon (Ireland's longest river), their history can be traced back to the 10th century and is the birthplace of Brian Boru, High King of Ireland. Both towns boast an abundance of charming cafes, casual and fine dining restaurants and a lively local Irish pub scene with evenings of traditional Irish music and dancing. A Farmer's market takes place each Sunday from 11am-3pm in Killaloe. A heaven for foodies! Stock up on locally produced organic vegetables, cheeses, artisan meats and fish along with a vast array of freshly baked bread and mouthwatering pastries. Other popular activities include sailing, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, waterskiing and jetskiing. The cabin is incredibly well connected if you would like to travel further afield, with lots of worthwhile day trips on your doorstep: Garrykennedy - 15minutes Limerick - 30minutes Terryglass - 45minutes Shannon - 1hr Lahinch (Cliffs Of Moher) - 1.5hrs Galway - 1.5hrs Dublin - 2hrs Cork - 2hrs Kerry - 2hrs Killarney - 2hrs Waterford - 2hrs
  • Amazing location: you wake up looking into the beautiful Irish hillside. The house is very rural (no visible neighbors, extremely bad phone connection and wifi) but still close to a small city with two large supermarkets and gas station. Roughly 2.5 hrs from Dublin Airport. Also very nice walking tracks nearby. Steve is a great host and communicates very quickly. The house is extremely cozy with a lot of facilities and equipment to cook and relax. It was very clean, except for some dust. I can definitely recommend staying with Steve and would love to come back another time.

  • We feel so lucky to have spent a few days at this comfortable, cozy, clean and unique cabin set in a spectacular setting! What a perfect place to be in solitude as a family, where we could open up the doors to the beautiful outside, our children could play in the creek and explore the ruins, and we could wake up to the amazing scenery surrounding us. We hiked, read books snuggled on the porch, played the fun board games found in the cabin (the kids loved the toys, games and art supplies!) and enjoyed a relaxing, quiet time together. We truly appreciate our time spent at Steve’s beautiful cabin, especially during this crazy time. Truly amazing place and we hope to be back!

  • I had such a wonderful weekend in Steve's cabin. It was super cosy and fresh with a fun personality. Steve was very helpful and responded quickly anytime I contacted him with a query. The kitchen was stocked with more than your usually necessities, some tasty treats that were there for eating. The living and hangout space is very comfortable and nestled in the countryside next to a river and surrounded by trees and fields - so it is a perfect place to adventure in nature also. Thanks for the great stay!

  • Such a great stay away from main roads and busy cities. The living space was great, beds were comfortable and clean. The nearest village isn’t far at all and it’s got plenty of shops for groceries etc. The location was great, far from main roads away from the noise, the only downside of this was the internet and 3G were a bit patchy, but this really wasn’t a problem, we weren’t on our phones often during our stay. The games options were fantastic and really fun! 100% worth staying at, highly recommend Steve’s place!

    Isabella2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely recommend this stay away. It's an amazing spot if you need to get away and relax, have a sunny walk or a cozy night in.

  • Absolutely incredible place, I had a fantastic stay, the place is so beautifully finished and immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly need. I had a little baby with me and Steve went as far as to have a travel cot and high chair there for us. Highly recommend and will definitely return as soon as I can. Lyndsey

  • This is the place to come to to turn off the outside world and relax. Spectacular views just around the corner. The cabin sits on a creak and you can hear the rustle of the water going by. The front of the cabin is lined with tall trees. There is not traffic, no urban noise, and when the sky is free of clouds you can look up into infinity and let your thoughts mingle with the stars.

    Brendan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The nicest airbnb I've stayed in. Highlights included the ultra comfortable beds, the kitchen facilities and supplies, the garden, and the local walks. Steve was extremely helpful and friendly. Couldn't recommend his place enough. Thanks Steve!

    Ballina, County Tipperary, Ireland

Bright modern studio, in a rural setting surrounded by dairy farms, it overlooks the beautiful Lough Derg the River Shannon’s pleasure lake. Killaloe Ballina is considered among Ireland’s most picturesque towns, the small towns are linked by a 300-year-old arch stone bridge and can trace their history back to the 10th century. It is the birthplace of Brian Boru High King of Ireland. The area offers many leisure activities including, fishing (guided trips are available) sailing, walking, cycling (bike hire available) and golf. Our local park has an open-air heated swimming pool (summer months only) with free outdoor gym facilities. The towns enjoy a popular restaurant scene ranging from Bistros to traditional Irish, Italian, Chinese and Indian. There is a lively pub scene with evenings of traditional Irish music and some dancing. We are well served with a local Italian deli/coffee bar, bakers, butcher, organic & health food shop, and supermarket. The Sunday Farmers market is a wonderful source for fresh produce, bread, cakes, meat, vegetables, cheese. I provide a welcome pack of provisions which includes Tea, Coffee, Cereals, homemade soda Bread, Butter and homemade preserves. The kitchen also has the basic essentials sugar, salt pepper, oils etc Depending on the season fresh vegetables/salads are available from the garden Towels, linen, hairdryer & iron provided. The apartment is open plan, with a mezzanine bedroom (at the top only some ducking required for those 6ft or more to negotiate stairs.) the area includes a double bed, with lots of space for clothes, which also doubles up as a perfect spot for a baby cot. From your bed, you have delightful views of the garden and across the lake to the Clare Hills. The Ground floor has a spacious shower and toilet. The main living/dining area has double doors leading onto a conservatory overlooking the garden & lake which is set up with a small table & chairs. Outside of this, you have your own decking area with garden furniture, possible a hammock perfect for daydreaming and star gazing. The open plan fitted kitchen has a Cooker, Hob, Fridge, Freezer & Microwave, with plenty of food preparation equipment and utensils. There is WiFi, TV & DVD player with a small selection of DVD’d. Books and magazine are also available. The washing machine is in the utility room of the main house and is shared. The garden is spacious with ample seating/lounging & dining facilities. Use of BBQ equipment. Cold bags, flasks, folding chairs etc available for away day excursions and picnics. The distance from the house to the bridge which is the centre of the towns is one mile, it's an easy walk, for the first part of the walk you are on a country road, sharing it with local traffic - cars, vans and farm machinery - after a half a mile you reach footpaths. I recommend wearing a high viz jacket, I have these available. Please note that the price quoted is for 1 person there is an additional charge for a 2nd person. Rural Ireland has limited public transport, a car is advisable especially for shorter stays and if you are wishing to do away trips. For Killaloe/ Ballina take Junction 27 off the M7 motorway. The M7 links Dublin (2.5 hrs) & Limerick (30 minutes). Sat Nav (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Shannon airport is 45 minutes away/58km by motorway. Dublin Airport has direct motorway access and can be reached in around 2 hours There is plenty of parking. Well behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement, the garden is large and secure. I have two dogs a whippet and a cheeky energetic spaniel mix. Heating is by oil fired central heating and will be charged for accordingly at the end of the stay, it is very reasonable. See house rules. (website hidden) (website hidden) (website hidden) (website hidden)
I am lucky enough to live overlooking lough Derg the largest lake in Ireland on River Shannon Walks showing the view of the lake are truly fabulous.
  • Hit the Jackpot!! Ive stayed in many Air bnb & this ones tops them all:) Stunning setting: Great location for exploring the Shannon Area: Mary was so hospitable with lots of little ‘crafty’ extras: 5 days spent with clear blue skies & sunshine: Even if it had rained it was a special place to return to each day felt very homely. Will happily recommend to my friends & definitely return in the future

    Yvonne2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice accommodation in a stunning setting. Mary and Ann were great hosts and had the fridge well stocked for us which was such a nice touch. Would highly recommend.

  • Exceptionally generous hostess and a lovely place to unwind. Quiet, private, safe easy parking, super clean, great cooking kitchen with all amenities. Wonderful value near great places to sight see.

    Jennifer2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is delightful to deal with, and her guest house is lovely, very comfortable with all the amenities we could need, including essentials waiting for us in the fridge. Mary also generously offered fresh vegetables from her garden! We woke up every morning astonished at the beautiful view, even from bed! The location is terrific, near charming local towns but peacefully rural. We will definitely be back!

    Tom2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean, quiet and cosy accommodation. Recommended.

    Ciara2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome from Mary and Ann who are the nicest hosts you can imagine. The studio has a lovely picture window and watching the light and the colours change over the lake and the trees beyond was magical... highly recommended.

    Margarette2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • After our second stay with Mary and Ann, we definitely feel like part of the family. Their love of dogs is contagious, and we share their enthusiasm for the pups. Killaloe-Ballina is not heavily touristed or that well known to the majority of travelers, but that is a major part of its appeal. Lough Derg is beautiful, and Mary has excellent views of it and the surrounding hills. Good hikes abound in this area, and there are good treks on both sides of the lake. The studio itself is well-planned, fully equipped, with great contemporary touches, and when the sun shines, the light coming in the expansive windows is wonderful. It may be some time before Susan and I can return, but when we travel to Ireland again, Mary's welcoming stop will most assuredly be part of our itinerary.

    Walter2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend if you are looking for a from the bed view of the lake and mountains. Great location as it is just 3 minutes by car from the city centre. Mary is extremely warm and welcoming. The garden and the dogs are bonuses. We spent a couple of days and will go back again.

  • Braybrook is a lovely house in a quiet and peaceful setting in the Irish countryside. The house is perfect for large families having many facilities including spacious living areas, a ground floor bedroom and bathroom with shower for older guests. Despite the inclement weather we had an interesting time visiting many of the historical sites in Limerick and Portumna and the geological site on the Burren.

  • I thought about not leasing a review, but that would be mean for the owners. The house was so Nice, would love to keep it for ourselves. But since the owners are so nice to let people stay at such beautyfull place, I will advice annyone to rent this house. It’s big enough for a large family. The area is beautyfull and really quiet. Some nice things to do in the area like lake Killaloe. And the people in the Village of Scarriff are so friendly. I hope I can book it again in time for next year.

  • Dinah was a very welcoming host. Upon our arrival she met us at a nearby rest stop and guided us to her home. As our first time in Ireland, she invited us to a local pub for some food and drink to help us settle in. The home is located in a very quiet part of town and perfect for anyone trying to really get away. Scarriff is an adorable place with very friendly people. Neighboring Killaloe is a beautiful town on lough Derg with many nice restaurants and scenery.

  • It was so idyllic and peaceful we didn't want to leave!

    Niamh2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was awesome. Barbara was super nice and the house was rustic and beautiful. It was far enough from town to he secluded but close enough that we never felt remote or alone.

    Cierra2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location is the best part of this stay. You are far away from everything so you get true peace and quiet but you are still close enough to get supplies and visit local pubs and restaurants. Barbara was a really kind host and answered all our questions and resolved a couple of small issues we had. We would stay here again. It’s a truly rustic, authentic Irish experience.

    Charlotte2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us stayed at Barbara's place and loved it! Barbara made sure to be there to show us around and took care of anything we needed. She did everything to ensure we had a comfortable stay and communicated with us easily. The house is spacious and welcoming, and tucked up away from everything so it's quiet and private as well. This was actually a second stay for us and hopefully there will be more!

    Heather2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • A few of us stayed at Barbara’s for a course we were taking nearby. The place was so comfy and cozy. The bedrooms all big and even had electric blankets on as it was quite cold when we arrived. Barbara helped with finding the place and even drove over when we got a bit lost. She checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The house felt grand and special. Quiet and surrounded by lots of land. A true gem. Thank you, Barbara for your warmth and hospitality!

  • Padraic and Gianna are natural and wonderful hosts, who will make you feel instantly welcome. We made a last minute decision to stay the night in the area and they were very accommodating for the last minute booking. They are also very generous with their time, with Padraic showing us their garden and mushroom haul from the day of foraging. We were surprised at how large the guest room is (the photos don’t do it justice) and all the amenities are great. The couch and bed are very comfy and the shower is hot and good pressure. Gianna cooked up a hot breakfast and very kindly made it a vegetarian feast for us - a delicious way to start the day. Thanks again for having us!

    Charli2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Padraic and Gianna have a beautiful home and were the loveliest hosts! Staying with them was a highlight of our trip. The room was big and clean and comfortable, with a nice deck and multiple skylights that allow you to fall asleep to the sound of rain. There was coffee/tea provided, cool books about the region/Ireland. And the dogs—they were adorable! There is a new puppy who is a doll, always demanding love. We opted to do the dinner, and would highly recommend it! All the fruits and veggies were grown by Padraic and Gianna, and everything was so fresh and flavorful! Our dinner consisted of cucumbers and baba ganoush, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, pasta with ragu, and coq au vin for the main course, plus a couple other sides (bread, mashed potatoes, fresh hazelnuts, etc). Everything was delicious and it was a lot of food. They also prepare a delicious and big breakfast, which included bacon, eggs, toast, croissants, juice, coffee, tea, etc. We enjoyed the breakfast and sitting around talking to Gianna before hitting the road. If you are looking for a unique Airbnb experience with friendly hosts and you are ok with a remote location (no easy access to pubs and restaurants), this place is not to be missed!

    Corinna2018-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice house with an authentic thatched roof out in the country. Expect a narrow one-lane road to get to it, but it’s manageable. Our room was upstairs with very neat skylights that let in light and made for a very nice space. Gianna’s food was glorious and we were very satisfied when we left each morning. Other than that, we had an easy drive to the Cliffs of Moher, Limerick, and anything else in that area. This made for a nice place to stay.

    Alexandria2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were expecting a lovely stay, but this was even better. Padraic and Jenna were the perfect mix of helpful without being intrusive, and just plain thoughtful. Take them up on the home-grown, home-cooked meal... it was damn good.

    Holly2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We (53 & 49) have been with Gianna and Padraic for a week. It was just nice to have met the two and can only recommend to be pampered with a sensational breakfast.

A warm and comfortable cottage set in a large wildflower meadow, on the North outskirts of Feakle village, 200m from Peppers Pub and Restaurant. Convenient to the fishing lakes and local walking trails of East Clare. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside with views over the Clare Hills. A very convenient base for exploring the history and crafts of rural Clare. Scarriff, Tuamgraney, Mountshannon and Tulla are close by and full of interesting places to visit.
This is a small, traditional Irish cottage with a stunning, uninterrupted views of rolling hills. Originally built in the 1890s it has recently been renovated meaning it is easily heated and comfortable. There is a full kitchen with a cooker, oven and grill and a conservatory facing the garden. The bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub. There is a sitting room with wood burning stove, there are two bedrooms with double beds and a third bedroom with a set of bunk beds. Outside, there is a large garden with a patio and sun trap. There is also a path through the south side of the surrounding field to a view point over the Clare Hills and further down that field a little bluebell wood.
Feakle is a small rural village with a number of shops and pubs, a petrol station and a post office, school and church. There is also a digital hub with hot desks, co-working spaces and conference facilities. These spaces are designed to suit residents, entrepreneurs and visitors alike. There is also the East Clare Golf Club with an 18 hole championship course.
  • We had a wonderful time at Rose Cottage and celebrated new year there. Communication from Eoin was swift and informative and his hospitality warm and generous- Christmas sweets, snacks and breakfast items to name a few. The cottage was tastefully decorated, peaceful and cosy, just what we hoped for. It was lovely to spend evenings in front of the stove with a glass of wine, reading, listening to the radio or playing scrabble. The kitchen was excellently equipped for cooking all sorts and the bed comfy and cosy. We were appreciative of the lack of WiFi and tv. Peppers down the road was a lovely pub and we were also very appreciative of the hi vis jackets and torches to make our way down the windy road safely. Overall, Rose Cottage was a great base to explore both east and west Clare and would highly recommend. Thanks again Eoin!

  • This is a lovely house just next to a small village, with great views on the surrounding countryside. The house itself has been recently renovated, and has a well-equipped kitchen, great veranda and a nice peat-fired stove. There’s a large meadow abutting the house and our children enjoyed playing there; they also enjoyed the playground in the village itself. Eoin is friendly and helpful; he even left us a welcome pack with organic milk, delicious bread, butter, jam etc. Feakle is handy for visiting many interesting areas of the West of Ireland.

    Stephen2019-08-01T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely house that's perfect for a weekend away for a couple or a group as the Kitchen and Living room are both nice and big. Master bed is a little small if you are over 6 ft so worth keeping in mind, but its a great house.

  • Been going to Bodyke for 20 years and were slightly confused by Airbnb directions. So head to the Cobblers Rest Pub there is only one pub in Bodyke which you may never leave. There is one road opposite the pub signposted Broadford follow this road for approx 4km and you will see a bungalow with a purple door on your right hand side. Jeane is a lovely host who even offered to pick us up from a very late night party in another village

Everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday is provided. They even have a good selection of DVD's. • I can only give 5 stars in all categories! It was wonderful - Paul and Jackie are great hosts, super helpful and just lovely people. The cottage is perfectly tidy and clean, it was easy to feel comfortable and cosy. They even put up a baby bed for us. We were travelling with 3 friends (all girls) and a baby and the rooms were perfect for that. 1 of us and the baby could stay downstairs with the bathroom close and the other 2 could stay upstairs in 2 of the 3 single beds. We will definitely come back to this place if we’re around!

Daisy’s Cottage nestled in a private avenue with private Lake access. Just a stones throw from Garrykennedy village. Newly renovated, this cottage is packed with charm and ideal for a lake getaway. Fishing, Sailing and Irish pubs close by.
  • Nestled beside a beautiful harbour. There is a local pub down the road, the Larkins that had friendly people and delicious home made food and music. We stayed 2 weeks, it was very peaceful and we got rained in for a week and there was plenty of space for everyone and everything, it was warm and comfortable and clean and the kitchen was very enjoyable using. The surroundings are peaceful and there is plenty of privacy. HIGHLY recommend a visit here if you're just passing though, or if you want somewhere to relax and have peace and quiet, also not far from a little shop for supplies and there are several towns nearby where you can drive for a day out.

  • Denis' place was very clean and a nice walk to town. All went well and I can imagine it's even more enjoyable in the summer with the harbor location. We couldn't figure out the heat right away (we aren't familiar with the system unfortunately) but the place warmed up after the first night. And a fantastic value, I recommend staying there.

  • Fred and Monica are just lovely! The cottages look authentically Irish and very homely with lots of little touches that make you feel welcome., such as flowers in vases and wood ready for a wood burning stove. There are toys and games for children which is really thoughtful. We had lots of recommendations for places to eat and places to take the children. Great hosts x

    Mary2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fred and Monica’s place is simply great. They are such attentive hosts, without being overly intrusive. For kids there is plenty to do, prom basic game provisions to a football area.. locally all types of outdoor pursuits are catered for, from water-boarding, kayaking, swimming, wall-climbing and fishing. A great gastro pub within walking distance, and plenty of walking trails... but again it was the simple touches.. a wonderful couple.. 👍

    Gerard Adrian2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Fred and Monica are friendly and thoughtful hosts. We had everything we needed and more. We will definitely be coming back. And the local area is so beautiful with plenty to do for kids and adults. Highly recommend.

    Melissa2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sher nice, quiet location. The hosts are friendly and helpful. We will be back.

    Ulrike2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place is centrally located to do a lot in the area. We traveled to Craggeunowen (1/2 hour away). Blarney Castle and Killearney were 2 hours away while the Cliffs of Moher were 1 1/2 hours away. There is a kitchen and living area down stairs with the bedrooms upstairs. It has a toilet upstairs for night time needs with a full bathroom downstairs for everything else. We were warm and comfortable. I think my favorite part of the trip was learning to weave from Monica. She spent 6 to 7 hours with me teaching me how to weave and helping me make a project. I think this place would be a great weaving retreat for a group of friends.

  • The hole is such an unusual quirky and interesting place... Very cosy and welcoming... We were treated to home made cider on our arrival and loved hearing the story about the hole. It is situated in such a pretty area and after arriving in the dark, we loved waking up to be surrounded by green and enjoyed having our breakfast in the front garden. Thank you so much! Em and Oli

    Iftekhar2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Hole. The accommodation was spotless and spacious and I wanted for nothing. It is indeed a quaint location with woodland in front and in an area where peace and solitude can easily be found in the place itself and in the nearby roads and lanes. I was reminded of W.B. Yeat's lovely lines while I was here: 'And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings'. It is situated on the ancient 'auld road' which was once a main thoroughfare between Connaught and Munster. This road has much history associated with it. Valerie and Dave were very attentive hosts throughout my stay and I got a lovely treat of fresh organic eggs from them one morning. Paddy

  • We had a lovely stay here. The house is fun and homely, the garden space is so peaceful and Valerie and Dave could not be more thoughtful as hosts. We had fresh flowers in every room on arrival and Valerie was so helpful with communicating beforehand. Nearby Portna forest park is lovely too

    Jamie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Caring and caring hosts, a super friendly country setting, secluded, quiet and really pretty, a nice house well equipped and spacious. In short, it was a real pleasure to meet and stay at Valérie and Dave's place.

Druid cottage is a spacious and clean 'Tiny home' with a wood stove, well equipped kitchen, 2 beds, 2 pull out beds, free parking and internet. We follow Airbnb guidlines, leaving 72+hrs between guests taking extra care to enhance cleaning due to COVID-19. It's just the ideal space to isolate or just a calm space to work away from the city crowds. Super Value and local shops are 10 mins by car and our neighbours delicious organic produce within a 10 minute walk. Enjoy walks with fresh air!
The cottage was originally an 18th century natural stone milking parlor, just beside my house and has been lovingly converted into a spacious 'Tiny house' or cottage, described as a 'rustic but comfortable home from home space. During this sad time of restricted travel due to Covid_19 we are deep cleaning, repainting along with a few other improvements. It has an open plan layout with a loft space bedroom; please take note of the rustic but securely fixed wooden ladder as seen in the photos. There is also a single bed in the main room and extra pull out beds and travel cot are available on request. Children under 1 yr are free. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, hand basin with soap, shower gel and towels provided. The well equipped kitchen is just off the main room with new espresso coffee maker, complimentary tea, coffee, oil, the usual condiments, if anything is missing just ask. Private garden with table n chairs is for your use only. Romantic wood burning stove for relaxing evenings, lazy days and winter stays, I will supply enough fuel to get you going but you will need to buy your own fuel from the local shop. Instructions are in the cottage manual but if you have any difficulty please message me. Washing machine, dryer and wood for stove are available but not included in the price, payment is run on trust, you just pay as you use by putting money in a box by washing machines and another by the fuel pile are all in shed beside the cottage. Wood is also available in local merchants and roadside service stations. Stroll along a small quiet lane to the Organic farm with happy animals and a dairy where you can buy Fresh raw cows milk, goats milk, cheese, yogurt and eggs. Seasonal organic vegetables can be bought from a stall just across the road, again this is run on trust. I live and work beside the cottage designing and making landscape inspired scarves and shawls. I respect your space and lone travelers have the comfort of knowing that they are not totally alone on this beautiful and peaceful hillside. Please knock on my door if there is an emergency and for general small questions or chat, then a text or email is good or catch me outdoors for a chat anytime.
The cottage is situated in a calm diverse artistic and farming neighborhood where you can walk, ride horses, talk with friendly neighbours, buy their produce, explore and breath clean air. Overlooking the Shannon region we have some beautiful small walks and we are also on the edge of the East Clare walking trail for hiking the stunning hillsides and lakes. Seasonal organic veg, fresh goats/cows milk and cheeses are available from the neighbouring farmer. In this magical landscape 'Druid cottage' takes its name from the locality 'Glendree' meaning Glen of Druids!
  • Beautiful, cosy, well-equipped cottage in the Irish countryside. Stephanie was a great host. We really enjoyed this place and would highly recommend it to anyone!

  • Had a lovely stay in the cottage for a girls weekend. Just what was needed to relax.

    Grace2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible accommodation, really blew me away how cool this little cottage was. Can't recommend enough.

    Michael2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 4 nights on Stephanie's cottage so we could get away from the city and also explore the west coast while working remotely. I highly recommend it because the cottage is lovely and cosy and it is a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the nature. Stephanie was very friendly and kept the place warm and lights on for our late arrival which we really appreciated. She was very easy to reach out for questions and doubts and the house had a very useful manual with everything explained :). The place is in a reasonable driving distance from Galway, Limerick and the west coast so if you like to drive and explore, this is a nice place to stay. I would definitely recommend it. The cottage has everything you could need.

    David2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage in complete rural area. Great to retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Stephanie is a great host with lots of local knowledge. The cottage is well laid out with lots of personal touches. We felt very welcomed and homely here. Car is a must have for here.

Willow Cottage is one of two self catering cottages at Bridge House, Killaloe. This cottage was an old barn house and is set next to the new horse stables. It has been beautifully restored keeping many of the old features.
The space is very unique with its authentic feel kept throughout all renovations. Bridge House owned by artist and printmaker Iseult O'Flynn, and attached to the Bridge House Studios Art Gallery. With two self-catering spaces up to, and over, 6 people can stay.
The neighbourhood boasts glorious views and great outdoor pursuits, ie. sailing, fishing, walking... Lough Derg (River Shannon) and Moylussa (highest mountain in Clare) are just a 10 minute walk from Bridge House. There are plenty of restaurants and bars closeby with one just a 2 minute walk up the road - The Pipers Inn. Also AnnaCarrige Brasserie and wedding venue just 5 minutes down the road.
  • The studios are in a beautiful, tranquil location and Iseult was a wonderful host. We arrived quite late, so it was great to have a smiling host greet us after a long journey. We loved the cottage, and the thoughtful touches of milk, tea and biscuits. We recommend the Pipers Inn a short walk up the lane for tasty food ... and a Guinness! Thanks again!

    Alex2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in this delightfully decorated and cleverly designed former cow shed/milking parlour that we found really cosy. A very peaceful location. Everything you need for self catering was in the studio but we found the local pub very friendly, it had good food on offer and was less than 5 minutes walk away. We would highly recommend Bridge House Studios for a couple seeking peace and quiet.

    David2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy, tasteful home away from home - in a beautiful, peaceful area. Close to the lovely village of Killaloe and beauty of Lough Derg ,rolling fields, valleys, streams and broadleaved trees. Lovely in any season of the year.

    Lauren2018-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a most peaceful and grounding 5 nights at Willow Cottage. It was exactly what I needed and wanted away from it all with creative inspiration from nature and the place, countryside walks, the sounds of horses and the stream, a cozy place to think and relax. I felt safe and cared for. Wonderful, timely communication from Iseult. Cottage is a short drive from village.. so perfect. Pipers Inn has great food and is just around the bend. I felt my holiday finally started once I arrived here! It was just so lovely!

    Janet2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Iseult’s house was absolutely beautiful, clean and as described. The surroundings are breathtaking. We really enjoyed our trip and helpfulness of our host. Iseult was very responsive, communicative and helped with all we needed. We would definitely recommend her place!

    Peter2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place so much we extended our stay. Peace and ease we found here. Sitting in sun or shade, its your choice to énjoy the calm. The studio has all that was needed. Izeult was there if needed, a lovely friendly lively woman. We so enjoyed our stay in your studio. Perfect spot for éxploring the area.

    Rose2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Iseults place was absolutely wonderful. It was clean and has great amenities for cooking. It's location is lovely; a walk away from the beautiful lake and pipers pub and restaurant, right up the road but also the stay there is secluded and very peaceful. We recommend staying here it's perfect!

    Daniel2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Spent three days at Isuelts place, and loved every minute of our stay. The studio was beautifully converted, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything one could possibly need. I would give it the highest possible recommendation. Hope to stay there again sooner rather than later.

Bridge House Studios is set in the heart of East Clare, 5 minutes from Killaloe town. Our gallery is housed in a 19th century cottage. The location is ideal for relaxation, outdoor pursuits and visiting the many pubs and restaurants in Killaloe.
The space is very unique with its authentic feel kept throughout all renovations. Bridge House owned by artist and printmaker Iseult O'Flynn, and attached to the Bridge House Studios Art Gallery. With two self-catering spaces up to, and over, 6 people can stay.

  • Very peaceful stay in this lovely cottage. Close to Killaloe and Limerick. Very comfortable and cosy. Many thanks.

  • Great spot for a relaxing "getting away from it all" type of holiday. Well equipped, comfortable and cozy. The lack of a freezer may be an issue for those on longer stays but otherwise everything is provided.

    Liam2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in a very lovely neighborhood! Iseult was very sweet and helpful. The house was great, very clean and comfortable beds. The surrounding is also really pretty! Beautiful nature all around but also not far from a super cool pub (5min walking) and from a lovely little city/village (10min drive). We had an amazing time!

    Reinhold2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at River Cottage for a few nights as we were in Killaloe for a wedding. The cottage is lovely and was absolutely spotless clean with plenty of amenities. The garden is so peaceful and tranquil, as is the sound of the river running adjacent to the cottage.

    Maria2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at River Cottage, and Iseult was there to greet us. The cottage was very clean, warm and welcoming, and Iseult was kind enough to provide us with tea, milk and biscuits so we didn’t have to go straight into town. The place is very quiet, bright and comfortable. It is walking distance to the lough, with a very good pub, serving great food only a 3 minute walk away. In short, a perfect, get away from it all place to stay. We hope to be back soon.

    Cleve2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, great hostess and an exellent pub nearby.

    Johan2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Iseult's Bridge House. House was sparkling clean, very relaxing and lots of thought put into the space, outside walled garden and seating area beside the river. The Pipers Inn does great food and drinks and is only three minutes walk away, so no need to drive. We went for a hike up Moylussa mountain which is only a couple of minutes drive away, lots of parking beside the nearby lake. Warm welcome from Iseult, great communication, directions, a really peaceful break, we will be back.

    Fred2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very cosy cottage - warm, with a fabulous fire. At the same time, it is brightly decorated and appears light and airy. Lovely views from the bedroom window, easy parking, good pub a few mins down the road. And it was very very peaceful. Fully equipped kitchen meant we could cook some good meals. Perfect

On the shore of Lough Derg, 1km from Mountshannon village in East Co.Clare, this detached bungalow is on a quiet cul de sac surrounded by woodland. At the end of the garden there is a small private sandy beach with lake access where guests can bring canoes, kayaks or a lake boat to the shallow waters and mooring on the property. Lough Derg is an excellent water sports location and a world famous fishing destination for brown trout and coarse fishing, particularly renowned for its Mayfly season.
The property is a well used and loved Holiday Home, but you should find everything comfortable, clean and in good working order. The bungalow is on a quiet private cul de sac road, south facing surrounded by grass lawn and pine trees. The entrance leads into an open plan kitchen, dining and seating area which benefits from a picturesque view of Lough Derg with the hills Co.Tipperary in the distance. There is a cozy solid fuel stove in this room which opens onto the outdoor patio. Adjoining the kitchen is a sitting room which also looks out towards the lake through sliding doors onto the patio. The sitting room has an open fireplace and TV. A corridor links the kitchen to the rear of the house, where there are three bedrooms – one double bed, one single plus bunk bed, and one bunk bed. There is a bathroom with wc, sink and bath/shower and there is a separate small wc. There is ample parking on the drive way adjacent to the house. The house is surrounded by grass lawn and then surrounded on three sides by a strip of woodland. The lake garden and lake access is approximately 100metres from the house, (directly across the private lane that services the five other houses on the lane). It is a gently sloping grass & sand beach which is suitable for launching and mooring kayaks, canoes or lakeboats. The water is shallow (2-3ft) for about 50 yards into the lake where it tapers off to 8ft and deeper.
The lake makes this a special location – the view, the constantly changing light and the potential for activity on the water or in the hills and forests nearby. Mounshannon village itself is a very well kept small town with a beautiful park and playground at its centre, a public marina and beach, as well as a small restaurant, two pubs, a pub restaurant and a garage. Killaloe is located 27km to the south and Portumna 27km to the north. Limerick City is about an hour drive, and Dublin Airport about 2.5 hrs. East Clare is dominated by rolling hills and forest as well as the Lake and is an excellent hiking, walking, cycling and boating region. Portumna Forest is a particularly well laid out and maintained park with many extensive walking and cycling routes.
  • Beautiful location, very cozy house by the lake with amazing view. Loved the big windows!

    Nara2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at this wonderful cottage / lodge with amazing views of the lake. Craig's comms we amazing and he had made sure our stay was wonderful throughout. Small note, we used WAZE as our SatNav and that didn't find the lane but using Google Maps resolved the issue.

    Ravi2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Craig was a wonderful host. His home is situated in a beautiful spot on a lake. It's clean, spacious and fully equipped with all you need. We really enjoyed our stay and would have no problem recommending it - we might even go back ourselves one day!

    Angela2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Craig’s place is on this wonderful hidden spot on the lake. We had lovely walks and the fire place is inviting to sit in the evening with a glass of wine or a lovely cup of tea. The kitchen has everything you need! What wonderful meals we created - just like at home. The mount Shannon Saturday market was wonderful to visit and further on there are lovely walks along the East Clare way... Even it wasn’t the season for the boats or Kajaks to get out on the lake to be close to the water created a lovely and calming atmosphere. I didn’t meet Craig but everything was clear and very well described. Thanks

    Johanna2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Best location you could find, so peaceful, I could watch the swans on the lake all day. The house has everything you need.

  • Really lovely stay, we ended up staying during a storm warning, but had a great time curled by the range. Perfect spot for a quiet weekend. Hosts were very thoughtful. Space was beautiful.

    Maria2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful converted stables, with the most charming and helpful host. We would love to come here again.

    Sharda2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This has been my favourite Air B&B place so far for a solo trip. Paul and Joan were lovely, and I had plenty of space and solitude for myself. Very comfortable space indeed. You definitely need a car here though!

    Abby2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Even with the amazing pictures, they still don’t do this place justice until you see it in person. After staying in a run down apartment in Dublin, the Stables were a HUGE improvement for us and we were stunned at the amount of work Paul and Joan put into this place. It is secluded, but not far away from town at all. We took a lovely baking class in Galway (only about 40 min from here) and spent some time in the nearby town of Ennis. The hosts were incredibly responsive, and we had the immense pleasure of meeting Paul as he came to light the fire for us on multiple occasions. Their surrounding property is stunning, which includes some surprise visitors, like their two gorgeous horses, and Pushkin, the sweetest cat in all of Ireland. We miss the Stables so much already and would highly recommend it to anyone hoping to visit County Clare and the surrounding area! You won’t regret it!

    Barbara2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful! Gorgeous restoration, incredible cozy, well stocked with coffee, eggs etc. Great recommendations for things to see and great location for exploring. We didn’t want to leave! We were inspired by the design and layout, and the energy of the place was warm and welcoming. Paul was very helpful in our planning and had good tips on places to eat and visit! Lovely peaceful countryside and two very friendly horses out back. We arrived home to a fire each evening and lights turned on. It made us feel very taken care of so far from home! We would certainly return here on our next trip to Ireland!

    Sarah2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly magical and cannot recommend both the place and Paul & Joan as hosts. We arrived late in the evening after driving from Dublin and Joan had been very responsive/helpful during our drive over. Joan had already started a fire before we arrived along with complimentary fresh eggs, milk and jam for us to make breakfast in the morning! The Kiltanon House is in an absolutely beautiful part of the country. We stayed in the horse carriage room and it was so rustic chic and cool we couldn’t stop gushing about how awesome the place was. The location was also quiet, secluded and exactly what my wife and I were looking for on our honeymoon! We also became best friends with their cat, Pushkins, who came around for cuddles and my wife fell in love with her. The next day we drove out to Cliffs of Moher for the day and Paul recommended a phenomenal seafood restaurant called Monks for dinner. His recommendation was awesome and had the best seafood chowder ever. When we returned we had a quick panic because we had locked ourselves out but Paul was very quick fo respond and help us even though it was after dark. Overall, we had a truly wonderful experience and cannot recommend enough! Thank you again Joan and Paul. You’re place is something we’ll talk about for years to come as part of our honeymoon.

    Tyler2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Stable is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to explore the West of Ireland. The cottage is full of charm and warmth. The space is a very cosy environment to avoid some Irish weather, and if you're lucky the local cat will swing by to say hi. There's also a very charming woodburning stove in the house that you can lose hours lounging in front of. I'd recommend the Stable to anyone looking for a basecamp to retreat to while exploring the Burren or Cliffs of Moher. Alternatively if you're in the market for a quiet weekend away from it all, this is the ideal spot.
