You can see our home on the property as you drive up the driveway. There are no other visible neighbours … only deer, cows and squirrels :) The treehouse and cabin are nestled in a small forest, overlooking the fields and pond. We also have a vintage restored airstream and it is located on the pond. The pool, our home and barn are also visible from the treehouse, and yet both areas remain private. Want to walk the 100 acres? Let us know and we will share the marked trails and route for you to enjoy! It's beautiful !
  • A DREAM COME TRUE! We were welcomed by Lynne and friendly staff on a long gravel road to begin our stay. We loved the picturesque field of grass, cedar and pine trees that lay foreground as we opened the windows of the treehouse in the morning. Great weather allowed us to spend an entire day lounging poolside, enjoy meals outdoors and manage a walk around the vast property. There's so much attention to detail in both residences, from repurposing old ladders to using twigs and branches as hooks and curtain rods. Overall this place is a gem that needs to be seen to be appreciated!

  • This Treehouse and Cabin is absolutely stunning! I did my due diligence and read up on the listing - some friends would say that I stalked the place prior to booking (those people would be right lol). Yet, none of that prepared me for this gem. Unreal property! This is such a unique find and was perfect for us girls to get away for a few nights and unwind. I’ve had so many friends and family reach out who also want to book this now. We had a party of 6 and felt well taken care of. The host was quick to address any questions or concerns. Lynne left us gals gift bags which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. The space was perfect for us girls - there was lots of room to have our own space. The cabin doesn’t get as much attention but the upstairs room in there was gorgeous. Every details was well thought out and we spent major overtime in the pool. Go ahead and just book it - you’ll join the long line of fans. We will be back!

  • This little slice of heaven is by far the most amazing place that we have ever stayed! Nothing even come close to comparing to this. From the moment we pulled in the laneway and met Lynn, until the time we left, we felt like family. Lynn’s attention to detail goes beyond any of our expectations. The treehouse, cabin, pool, bathrooms, and everything in between were absolutely stunning. Small touches such as fresh flowers in vases throughout, some beverages to enjoy, and a small gift were extremely thoughtful and so kind. Our getaway there was timeless. It is an amazing place to be able to reconnect without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Lynn’s husband Mike was around a bit and was also super welcoming and extremely nice. Neither of them were intrusive and were extremely considerate of our space and time alone on their property, yet only a text away if we needed anything. We are forever grateful for our experience at the Treehouse. We are now going to make it an annual trip. We made memories to last a lifetime and our hearts were full when we left!! Stop thinking about it and just book your time there. Dates fill up fast and there is no question as to why. You will not regret it!! One last note... make sure you take a second to go down the slide!! We all have a kid left in us and this is a great way to reconnect with that :D

  • Amazing retreat! Much better than the photos. A must come vacation place. All of us really enjoyed the time here. Strongly recommended.

  • Nothing truly matches up to this hidden gem. The attention to detail is everywhere. For three days I kept noticing more and more little design features and amenities all over the property. It is very obvious that there is a lot of love, care and time going into this property to make sure guests are blown away when they arrive and it continues as you wake up each morning. The customer care is so personal. I truly felt like our happiness mattered and the staff and family would do anything to help (and they did when we reached out). I loved the fact that we were living in the great outdoors but still experiencing all of the luxuries a luxury hotel. Simply a beautiful place to unwind and relax.

  • Lynne and Michael have created and shared a space that one could only dream of visiting. Everything is pristine, Lynne has thoughtful touches everywhere and you truly feel like you are in a far away place. The vibe is positive and the atmosphere is so relaxed, my girlfriends and I had such a wonderful time and I am so grateful to have had the experience. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us!!! This magical place is one to not be missed!!!

  • Where do I begin? I honestly don't know if I can summarize the experience I had here in a few short paragraphs ... but I will try. Let's start with before we got there. From the moment I booked, Lynne was sending me info and answering all of my ridiculous and frantic questions. I booked for a bachelorette weekend and she made sure that all the ladies and I were taken care of. It can be difficult to coordinate so many people and their varying personalities, but she was completely supportive and relaxed about everything. Lynne is positive, cheerful and exudes a calm, welcoming energy. She is clearly passionate about what she does and extremely professional. We couldn't have asked for a better host! When we got there, the space blew me away. Pictures DO NOT DO THIS PLACE JUSTICE! It was a total escape from the stresses of city life. The treehouse, cabin and outdoor spaces were all sooo beautifully designed! As a lover of design, I was in HEAVEN! It's worth it just to experience the shower there. Also, I have never been so excited to use an outhouse. (There is a running toilet, but trust me...you will want to use the outhouse. It is PIMPED OUT!) It's obvious how much love and care Lynne has put into all the details. It was like living in a dream for 2 days...and I didn't want to wake up! The price seemed high to some people at first, but in reality it's really not. When we got there we quickly realized what goes into making the spaces so spectacular. The price is more than fair and 100% worth it! I am SOOO grateful I got to experience this place. I would go back in a heart beat! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LYNNE!!!! <3

  • Stop reading reviews and book the Treehouse now. Seriously. Stop wasting time. Book it or someone else will. The Retreat is unbelievably relaxing, instant responses from Lynne and her team with any questions and concerns you may have, it’s clean, it’s quiet, it’s designed and decorated beautifully, etc etc etc. I don’t have a single complaint about our experience. Thanks again Lynne!

*Now CLOSED till spring, thanks!* The bunkie has a great view of the rising sun with farm fields in the distance. You can listen to the crickets all night by the camp fire. It's a quiet rural area (please note it is a GRAVEL road), good for couples, solo adventurers, hunters, someone looking to be outside of town. The bunkie is located approx. 30 feet behind our home. We have 2 large dogs on site (live in the house). For allergenic reasons and safety of other animals, we do not allow pets.
Very quite road, at night it's nice to sit by the camp fire and listen to the crickets and look at the stars. Neustadt is 10 minutes away and boasts a collection of small antique shops, craft shops and a general store that has all the necessities. There is even a micro brewery that has a tasting room. Hanover is 15 minutes away and has lots of stores and dining options. Durham and Mount Forest are 15 minutes away which also have lots of shops to visit as well. Owen Sound is ~60 min away with a huge selection of dining and entertainment options. There is a 350 acre managed forest that hiking and hunting is allowed in on the next concession over (5 min drive) there are many other managed forests nearby that allow hiking and hunting as well.
  • Quite ,Comfortable Perfect place to just get away from everything!!

  • A very cozy cabin with a stunning view of the countryside. A clean modern interior with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

    Brad2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin stay! Cozy and comfortable with a fire pit at the front and lots of firewood & fire starter. Hosts are very kind and quick to respond. Note the water here is high in iron concentration so bring extra bottled water just in case. Hosts will provide a 4L spring water as well.

    Peter2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's cabin is really nice, we had a great time. The cabin is very cute with all you need inside! Very calm too! We also enjoyed the games available! Thank you !

Great rates right now for weekly stays! Time to get out of the city and get some fresh country air! **Completely separate space for proper isolation distancing** **We take this virus seriously, this suite is cleaned to Airbnb's guidelines to the letter** Bright, spacious, clean, charming, completely private country suite with its own hot tub! Situated on a farm property, in Grey County, lots of Ontario land to walk & explore! Small towns of Durham, Hanover, Mount Forest are very close.
The Suite is completely separated from the owners' suite for current social distancing practices. The house has two levels. Both levels are the full size of the house. The owners/superhosts utilize the other suite from time to time. The Airbnb suite is a large, bright, open-concept space with lots of windows with direct access to a balcony that wraps around from the kitchen to the deck and back yard, the hot tub and firepit. Very comfortable, to make you feel right at home, with lots of amenities. Very Clean, cozy, uncomplicated, modern, the option to bbq, cook or just reheat your meal, a special getaway apartment in the country close to Durham, Hanover, Mount Forest and surrounding Grey Bruce areas. Due to the Covid-19 virus, we have spaced out our guests. Days will be blocked in the calendar because of this, if you see days not available please ask. We offer nightly, weekly, monthly guests to enjoy having a place that you can cook your own meals, relax by the fireplace, watch a movie, read a book, or just visiting. This suite is nice and bright but for those quieter evenings, you can dim the lights and relax. Soak in the tub or the outdoor Hot tub before retiring to your comfy king and queen beds. If you love a good walk, the suite is located in the country on a paved picturesque country road amongst farmer's fields. Don’t forget to take the carrots that are left in the fridge to go say Hi to the horses with! Special note: If you do not see the dates you need during the summer months we also have two RVs, a travel trailer and 5th wheel set up on the property that is listed under my profile as well. Both "tiny, home-away-from homes" are set in a private setting, with fire pit, they are a fun experience, to ‘glamp’ in the country with all of the conveniences and amenities required.
Convenience is only 2 km away in Durham, Ontario. The beautiful Saugeen river runs through it. Gas stations, liquor store, beer store, grocery store, convenience stores, restaurants, churches, etc. Other things to note of the area; A Friday market runs all summer 1/2 block west on 10th street in the Civic Park in Hanover. Every Tuesday venture up to the Keady market. Lots of local restaurants in the area. There is a Paramount drive-in theatre open Tues, Fri, Sat, and Sunday the end of May until Labour Day weekend just 15 minutes away.
  • Just a wonderful time. The space is great and modern but nicely secluded within nature. They have some very friendly horses so it was an nice escape away from city life. Catherine and Thomas couldn’t’ be more welcoming and caring on our arrival. Checking in on us and ensuring our stay was up to standard - which it was. Defiantly a top AirBNB experience and hosts.

    Jordan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine’s place is a perfect quiet getaway. It is big and bright with very comfortable beds and lots of nice touches for the guests! I highly recommend!

  • Catherine and Thomas’ place was wonderful! The suite is quite spacious and very clean with tons of natural light. The large property is absolutely stunning and perfect for a get away from the city hustle and bustle. The hot tub was a great place to relax & unwind! The horses and pony were very friendly and love to see us come visit them with carrots in hand! Overall the experience was great & I would definitely recommend Catherine & Thomas’ place!

    Brette2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t leave a review for the very place as unfortunately I had to cancel my stay due to weather conditions, but I can witness Catherine has demonstrated a fantastic customer support by warning me in advance and being helpful in the cancelation. I trust she is an excellent host, caring for the best of her visitors.

    Sylvain2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Myself, my girlfriend, our daughter and a couple of classmates booked a 3 day 2 night stay but unfortunately due to weather were only able to stay the one night, but that one night we were there went above and beyond expectations! Catharine and Thomas were in the unit below which was nice if we needed anything. The place was beautiful, there were notes posted all around the place with directions for what to do and not to do,very clear. They had breakfast in the fridge for the mornings along with milk and cream for the coffee and tea, and also carrots to feed the horses! They also had some pamphlets for some restaurants around the area, a computer to use and of course wifi. The hot tub was just the cherry in top. Over all for the time we were there it was a great experience. Thank you catharine and Thomas for your great hospitality!

    Aaron2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beyond what we expected. The host was super helpful and was very easy to communicate. The horses and the hot tub was def a cherry on top. We had an awesome stay and would recommend my friends and family for sure. Cat so sorry about the mess we made and fully taking responsibility of that! I should of been more careful. Thank you

    Prashanthi2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great winter getaway here! The place was very clean, check in was easy and there were lots of instructions so we were not left wondering about anything. There were nice little touches like eggs in the fridge, and robes and slides to put on to go to the hot tub. This is within driving distance to many small quaint towns, as well as Owen Sound and Collingwood. We had a great stay!

    Beth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Catherine's place for a few days during the week in February as a small getaway, and it was very clean and comfortable overall. The horses and the hot tub are really nice bonuses, and the place is very spacious. There's some additional rules to note with the hot tub if you're staying during the week; we were able to talk to the host about some options which was very kind of them! It's less secluded, especially with the downstairs unit occupied, but it was a nice break from the city. Thank you Thomas and Catherine for having us! 4.5/5 overall :)

  • Dianne's place is a perfect getaway spot. My boyfriend and I have now visited twice, both in winter, because the scenery is so beautiful and the area is so peaceful. It has become our favourite spot. We so enjoyed being tucked away from the world, relaxing with Netflix, books, and warm meals. The apartment was spotless, and Dianne really puts thought into everything, from amenities to local tips. She and her family are friendly and chatted with us for a while, and they have very cute dogs! Everything about this space is perfect for two, and I have absolutely no criticism that I can report! We would highly recommend this spot, and would love to return again (maybe to check out a different season)!

    Nicole2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at Dianne's many times this ski season. It's a lovely, cozy place that served our little family very well, and we're looking forward to being back next season. It's been lovely coming home from a day of skiing to relax in front of the fire. The kitchen is great. My only advice is to pack slippers or thick socks because the floor in the bathroom is chilly on cold days.

    Craig2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Dianne was a very responsive. We enjoyed our stay

    Amanda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, exactly what we were looking for. Diannenis very responsive to questions.

    Gerry2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dianne’s AirBNB was a beautiful, cozy, quiet getaway loft! The amenities that Dianne packed the house with made our weekend easygoing and smooth. The kitchen had everything you could think of, and you could tell there was much thought put into everything provided. There are lots of games, books, and PS3 games to keep a family entertained for a whole week. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was nice and roomy, and everything was very clean! We would 100% return to this lovely gem in Markdale.

Perfect for couples, friends or families looking to relax & rejuvenate in the presence of nature. If peace is what you are looking for this is it! Please note that we are a dog friendly property as we have two dogs that live on the property with us.
The cabin has 1 bedroom with a queen bed (extra firm mattress under soft mattress for choice) and a double fold down Serta sofa, comfortably sleeping 4 people. We are dog friendly so please feel free to bring your furry friend. We have two dogs who live with us on the property, one is a border collie and the new pup is a sheepadoodle who loves everything and everyone. If your dog is aggressive or if you or your children are afraid of dogs please do contact us prior to booking. Our dogs are not aggressive and are off-leash, so they do have access to the full property. Cabin comes equipped with a fireplace and firewood for cold months, full kitchen with additional coffee maker, soda stream, toaster, veggie/rice steamer and more. There is a natural spring on the property, which the water is pumped from. It is then UV filtered making every tap drinkable. Cabin runs on septic, fresh spring water (filtered), wood fireplace, as well as a propane heater to create an almost off-grid experience. We recycle, compost and conserve energy as much as possible, promoting a sustainable living experience. Wrap around deck on south and east sides makes for perfect outdoor enjoyment. Hot tub sits flush with the east deck with fantastic views across the valley. The 7 person hot tub has over 40 jets. Perfect for end of day after hiking with over 70 acres of property to explore. Please note that nightly pricing now includes Ontario HST tax (13%), incorporated into nightly fee. If you require a breakdown receipt outside of AirBNB receipt please ask on booking. Thank you! Also, please note that we are not an accessible cabin. There are 3 steps up to the main deck entry, no ramp or handrail. If you have any special needs please do contact us prior to booking and we can answer all your questions. Our property is one of a kind. On a clear morning from the living room you will witness some spectacular sunrises. In the evening you can enjoy the ambiance of the sun setting or head up the road a few minutes to watch the sunset completely. The cabin sits at the top of a hill, up the driveway from our primary residence (another small cabin). The hill is perfect for keeping the mosquitos away with a continuous breeze. There are 3 reforested areas, lots of old forest, a meandering meadow, hills, wetlands, apple trees, the Saugeen River, streams and a natural spring. Wildlife includes tons of deer, rabbit, birds, wild turkeys and the occasional spotting (or hear them howl) of coyotes and wolf. The valley of the property echoes so they do sound close sometimes even though they are a distance away. A little about our dogs: One is a border collie, super smart and 7 years old. Be warned, if you start to play frisbee or ball with her she will not let you stop ;-) She is vocal and likes to be the boss. Our sheepadoodle is a new pup who is still under a year old and will be a big boy. He is super friendly but still gets very excited and learning how to greet guests. We also live on the property but do not bother our guests unless there is something you will need.
We are located in Priceville, Ontario, one of the highest points in Ontario, part of the Grey Highlands. We are 10min west of historic and artful Flesherton off Grey Rd 4. Flesherton boasts tons of unique amenities such as the Leslieville Cheese Market, delicious bakery, Peasmarsh Farms for fantastic meat options and local chef! Bicycle Cafe and Highland Grounds serve up incredible lattes and cappuccino. Gourmet Pizza is fantastic as well. Art galleries, yoga studio and more. An additional 5min east of Flesherton is the stunning Hoggs Falls, which sits on the Bruce Trail. Easy to access and worth the visit. In the summer you can scale down and swim in the falls! Another 5min away is Eugenia Falls and Eugenia Lake. 10min west of us is Durham, which has beautiful McGowan Falls with lots of walking trails, Garafraxa coffee theater and the Durham Art Gallery. Within 45min drive are spectacular destinations such as Collingwood/Blue Mountain, Talisman, Beaver Valley, Standing Rock, Bruce Peninsula, many waterfalls and around 1hr to Sauble Beach for incredible sunsets and day trips to the beach. There are many, many things to do in the area. Winnie Acres Horseback Riding is right around the corner from us and Irish Lake up the road. BruceTrail for tons of hiking and biking. Many options for food, art, entertainment and outdoor recreation in the area.
  • The cabin was large and had great views. Easy access to the hot tub and trails. The hosts were great! Super friendly and quick responses with anything we needed. Great recommendations for town too! (Highly recommend Bicycle Cafe, great food and vibe!) Thanks so much guys! We had a great time!

  • My husband and I came here for a weekend getaway and we were blown Away. Just over 2 hours from London this was a diamond in the woods. When we arrived we were greeted by the hosts and their lovely dogs. We drove up to our cabin up the lane way and arrived at our truly private getaway. The cabin was very clean. The views Into the woods were spectacular. The wrap around deck including the hot tub was such a nice touch! After hiking during the day (Hoggs falls and Eugenia falls- totally worth the 10 min drive) it was amazing to relax in the hot tub with a cold drink. The living room was so great. Huge windows facing the woods and cable tv if u want to unwind to that. Spectacular place to listen to music and watch the stars. We’re already planning the next trip back. Thanks milena and Johnny!

  • For the second year in a row, we chose the ReLive Retreat for an annual winter weekend getaway. What we love most is the mild aroma of the wood fired stove (lots of wood and kindling available, with instructions on how to operate the stove provided), the light from all the large windows, and the time connecting in person. The kitchen, bathroom (shower and full size washer/dryer included), and BBQ all work great. The outdoor hot tub is right off the deck outside the door, so you can quickly get in and out before you have time to get cold. The hot tub fits four comfortably, is very clean, warm, and does not have a heavy chemical smell. There are some games and movies for relaxing indoors, and tons of space to go for walks. We enjoy going into Flesherton (<15 min drive) to The Bicycle Café for a meal (highly recommended). There are also bakeries, cheese and meat shops in town for some high quality cottage provisions. It is a classic Canadian cottage experience. Bring some puzzles, games, a book or two, and put on some classic Canadian tunes for a weekend to remember. Thanks for being great hosts Milena & Johnny (and Coda and Happy!)

  • Milena and Johnny have created an amazing space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Their cabin is beautifully situated with hiking trails that are easy to access and a hot tub with a beautiful view. Our vacation was made even more enjoyable because our dogs were welcome.

    Grace2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I booked a getaway as a gift for my husband and didn’t know what to expect. Milena and Johnny are wonderful hosts and along with their two dogs, Happy and Boca, make you feel very welcome. Their place was outstanding in every way (and only a couple of hours from Toronto). The cabin was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed, including a bbq. There is a hot tub just off the deck that we enjoyed after a hike around the property (snowshoes were provided). The property itself was absolutely beautiful. We spent hours hiking the peaceful trails around the forests and meadows and watched the sun go down through the large cabin windows. Milena and Johnny have just built two Mongolian Yurts on the property and my husband and I are looking forward to returning to ReLive Retreat to experience what the other seasons may bring.

    Amanda2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We just stayed at the cabin for a couple of nights for our anniversary and this place was absolutely magical! All the trees are covered in ice and snow, which makes them glow in the sunlight giving it a very surreal experience. The cabin was very cozy with a wood stove and having a roaring fire while its snowing outside was very relaxing. We braved the hot tub in -10, getting in and out was a bit rough because of the cold, but once you are in the hot tub you get to enjoy the beautiful view and the steam coming off the water makes it feel like a hot spring, which was totally cool! The trails around their property are so snowy and it feels like a fairy tale walking through them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it!

    Timothy2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • ReLive cabin is a lovely retreat. It's very private and quiet and the hot tub was wonderful after a day of skiing at Blue. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you'd need to make meals. We loved having a BBQ available. The full wall of windows offers a gorgeous view of the property beyond. We loved waking up in the morning, stoking the fire in the gorgeous wood-burning stove and sitting back with a hot tea/coffee and enjoying the view. On our last day we hiked around Hogg's Falls, which is very close by. We highly recommend a visit to Milena and Johnny's place.

Your living space is comfortable and bright, with lots of picturesque windows and high ceilings. There is a walkout to a private area where you can relax, and unwind, enjoying the sounds of nature and some farm animals, such as horses, minis, donkeys, goats, chickens, cats, a dog, and even a pig. We love our animals and we welcome yours as we are a pet friendly farm. A pet fee of $50/pet paid at check in. Please note dogs must be on a leash when on the property.
The property is a peaceful and beautiful place. You will hear the odd rooster or donkey as they are the most vocal around here. Guests are welcome to visit with the animals. We always love doing the animal tour. You are also welcome to explore our trails out back, whether it’s a walk, jog, bike ride (lots of hills) or even snowshoeing. Depending on the season, there’s lots to see and do in the area. From hiking, to mountain biking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, sightseeing and lots of shopping, eateries and wineries. Within a short driving distance there are a number of small towns which host a variety of shops, bakeries, restaurants, beaches and more. (We also have 2 12x12 wooden corrals for riders that would like to bring their horses. Access to water. Please bring your own hay and everything you will need for your horse. Proof of insurance needed and horses must be up to date with vaccines).
People just start to relax and feel good as soon as they turn into the driveway. There is just something magical about living in the country. This is our little piece of paradise.
  • Perfection is an understatement for this stay . The hosts Andrea and John were beyond friendly and accommodating. The little touches were great and filled ours and our children’s hearts . Thank you for letting us meet all your amazing animals and sharing your amazing home.

  • This was an absolutely wonderful stay! Andrea and John and amazing hosts - kind, friendly, willing to tour you around the farm and offer suggestions and advice on what to do around the area. They were super responsive and close by if we needed them. The airbnb is perfect for a little getaway. It's spacious, has lots of cooking space, and plenty of little amenities. The property itself is beautiful and has lots of places to snowshoe/ski. It's about 40-50 minutes to Blue Mountain/Collingwood but if you're just planning on doing a day trip, it makes for a pretty drive out and isn't an issue. Otherwise you can occupy yourself around the property, and meet Andrea and John's extended family of furry/fluffy friends. Really great AirBnb and we're excited to visit again :)

    Natalie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fantastic experience for me and my family! Andrea’s place is extremely clean and all stuffs we need are provided. Andrea also introduced a lot of animal friends to us, they are very friendly and cute. We will definitely come back again in the future!

Brand-new loft in downtown Markdale. Fully-equipped kitchen, brand new bathroom with glass walk-in shower, double-sized wall bed, 12 foot ceilings, comfortable living room with large flat-screen smart tv (Netflix), wifi throughout, sunny patio with bistro set. Close to all the great outdoor activities that Grey County and Grey Highlands have to offer - hiking, fishing, canoeing, skiing, snowmobiling, atv trails, beaches, cycling, motorcycle touring, and made-in-Markdale Chapman's ice cream!
This building dates back to 1893. It was originally used as a general store at street level, while the upper level was part of the Loyal Markdale Lodge, number 441 of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. Since the 19th century, the commercial space has been used as a dentist's office, a cafe, and an antique store. The Oddfellows lodge was deeded to private owners in 1983 and the Order shut down. The owners have a copy of the original Loyal Markdale Lodge Charter from the late 1800s.
  • Highly recommend staying at Elizabeth's place. Super cute place, clean, has everything you would need to enjoy your stay. Is a great location if you want to check out all the waterfalls in Grey County

Log home on private 100 acre property, away from the noise and bright lights. With an additional 150 acres of Saugeen conservation right next door. Walking, and private ATV trails. Great for hikers, bikers, atv's and sledders. We are very biker friendly Harley and ATV owners. Happy to show you some great riding roads or ATV trails. Great local swimming hole just minutes up the road.. Enjoy a walk through the private pine forest, with trails.
Come and Stay with Rick and Laura. You will have your own private entrance from the side of the house to the one room with ensuite bathroom, and separate private entrance with stairs up to the loft. Bar fridge, toaster and coffee maker. Unlimited high speed internet with free Netflix. We have 1 bedroom on the main level with a King double bed and living space upstairs that has a double bed, a single bed and a couch, with walk out deck, (TV is located there). There is a 2 piece washroom upstairs as well, with the private shower off bedroom one on the main level. The peace and quite here is unbelievable, and the night time stars are many. There are amazing trails for walking or ATV's. Use the fire pit, wood provided. You can walk for hours all on private property, with access to the Saugeen Conservation lands. See deer, and all kinds of wildlife. There is even a resident bear in the fall. As avid motorcycle enthusiast, we welcome riders and motorists traveling up the peninsula to take the Chi-Cheemaun ferry across to Manitoulin Island. The ferry in Tobermory is just 1:45 minutes away, and I have personally done the ride several times. IMPORTANT: Please Google "Heavens Acres" in West Grey to find exact location. Google has updated the inaccuracy of our address, but your GPS may have not.
This unique spot is very private and away from the hustle and bustle. Whether you just want to get away for the peace and quite or sit around a campfire and enjoy the stars, we are sure you will love the property and everything it has to offer. There are many Mennonite and Amish people living in the community, some who settled here in the 1850's. Our property was a farm in the 1850's and has a long history of being a retreat for Torontonians. We will leave a book upstairs with information on this particular property. Once called the "Tamarack" the property hosted many tired visitors passing through Dornoch on there way to Owen Sound or Toronto. Laura and I love our place and welcome others to enjoy it as well. The 'boys' Cooper and Clifford (2 beautiful, well trained., and well behaved dogs) were were next to greet us! The property is a nature lovers dream come true and the guest loft is absolutely amazing. All the comforts of home plus some added extras we didn't expect...(hot choc, tea, coffee, real cream, fruit, breads, honey...) We hope to return again...and again..... Looking forward to a night around the Fire pit with Laura and Rick and the boys. These are the type of people you meet and hope to have in your life always and forever!!

  • We just returned from a weekend at Heavens Acres. We had a wonderful stay in the country. Our room was clean and comfortable. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some breakfast items were left in our room for us to enjoy which was an added bonus. Also, we  were treated to home made cookies during our stay which were delicious! We travel with our 2 dogs and were happy to find an accommodation that was pet friendly. Lots of room on the property for the dogs to explore. We also enjoyed a campfire on our last night. Thanks again!

This family friendly house sits next to mine within 90 acres of forest . With trails throughout you can hike in its natural setting and perhaps glimpse some of the wildlife that make their homes here too. Enjoy the tranquility of this secluded setting and unwind from your busy life. Children can have fun outdoors too and all trails join to lead you safely home! Conditions permitting you can enjoy an evening bonfire in the backyard . Check first in case fire restrictions are in force.
The house itself has 3 separate bedrooms, a large living room, separate dining room with table and chairs for 8 guests. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare your meals. The balcony overlooks the valley and the woods below. A firepit with firewood provided is available when conditions permit. This house sits amidst a managed forest planted nearly 50 years ago with 36,000 trees. Since then I have planted at least 5000 more to add diversity. The large and varied network of groomed trails meander through our private 90 acres. Hike, snowshoe or ski through the large maple stand, the mostly pine woods and around the large natural pond. A paddock and barn near the pond were once home to horses but now provide open meadow for birds and animals.
This is farm country. My property was once a not very productive farm until a forester decided it would grow better trees! But exploring back roads to view this agricultural area is still fascinating. Watch for Amish and Old Order Mennonite horses and buggies and notice their well maintained farms as well as the large modern farms. Lots of us are retirees and you may enjoy a chat in the local small restaurants or the Mennonite restaurant in nearby Varney. The Durham conservation area is close by while Allen Park conservation area is ten minutes away.. For summer visitors a number of local rivers are stocked and provide excellent fishing. My large natural pond is not suitable for swimming but there is supervised swimming in the river in town or I can direct you to beaches on Lake Huron. If children bring their own tackle and a responsible adult remains with them they can have fun catching bass in my pond (catch & release - not for eating).

The yurt is located on our 200 acre biodynamic farm in beautiful West Grey. Guest are welcome to walk around the property and enjoy being in nature. A cozy insulated space available all year round. Meals made with farm fresh ingredients can be requested for an additional fee. This accommodation is rustic with outhouse (composting toilets) and wash basin. Farm experience is also available. Weather permitting we can offer sleigh rides or horse and buggy rides for an additional fee.
The yurt is an authentic Mongolian yurt made of all natural materials. Fully insulated and very spacious the yurt can accommodate more people by adding a cot. A great place to get away from it all. Unfortunately the yurt does not have running water, but is equipped with water and wash basin. Lanterns provide adequate light at night.
West Grey is abundant in natural areas. There is a swimming river nearby at the conservation area in Durham. There is also a convenience store located just up the road and the town of Durham is with in a 10 minute drive.
  • We LOVED our stay at Michael and Elisa’s farm! The yurt was very cute and comfortable, and also heated up really nice. There are many animals on the farm, and Michael also let us watch him milk the cows! Rosie the dog is the sweetest, and will follow you around very politely if you let her. The breakfast was also amazing. Overall, we were very impressed and happy with our stay on the farm, and will definitely be returning. Thank you Michael and Elisa!

  • Loved this stay. The styling was amazing. The breakfast was literally out of this world. So fresh! Hosts were super inviting and friendly. I'm not a huge fan of dogs but omg their dog followed us around the barn and would melt anyone's heart. Seriously a sweetheart. The yurt itself was warm and cozy. Our laptop died and there was no plug but it was a good opportunity to unplug and relax. Would like the recipe for the UNREAL croissants.

  • What an absolutly magical place. We got WAY more than we bargained for. We thought we were just getting a relaxing night away when really their is so much on the property to explore. The yurt was so clean and had everything we needed. Great hospitality and guest services (absolutly love their pooch Rosie making sure we were safe and happy). The area is stunning to explore but I had the most fun on the farm. To the magical lights at night lighting up the entire farm walkway, to the barn with hay bails and swing ropes to play on really brings out the kid in you, the barn full of animals to explore and kittens to cuddle. We will definitely be back to this delightful property. Could not have had a better trip 😍🤗

  • My children had an enjoyable experience. They loved the idea of staying in a Yurt within the outdoors closer to nature. The place was nice and warm, bedding was nicely prepared. The big lovable dog of the owners was a big bonus.

This spacious, 30-foot ‘couple’s’ trailer is parked on our country farm property, all set and ready to enjoy! Come visit Grey County from June to October with lots to see and do! The idea here is to come for a couple of nights, during the week or weekend, to get away from your busy life, relax as one with nature, and in comfort, in Jayco RV style! Enjoy sunsets, staring at the stars, while you sit by the campfire (wood provided). Book your summer 2020 stay now before the dates book up!
This very comfortable Jayco Whitehawk 30 foot trailer is set up in the country amongst nature. You get the camping feel with being in nature, sitting around the campfire, but having the "glamping" feel which includes running hot and cold water, electricity, A/C, a night to watch the satellite TV if you want. Wifi is available, just steps closer to the house on the property if you need to be "on" but the idea is to "switch off" for 1, 2 or 3 days (max because of the holding tank limit), enjoy the country charm of walks along the pioneer laneway, to pet the horses, to watch some other farm animals, or just sit and listen to the birds and watch the sunset and enjoy the fire. Minutes from town with all that you require to enjoy your stay. Only 2 min from the town of Durham, 15 min from Hanover or Mount Forest. The Saugeen River is close by, with lots of provincial park space for swimming and hiking, you are 45 min from a beach on Lake Huron (Sauble, Kincardine, Port Elgin beach) or Georgian Bay (Wasaga beach), or a ski-hill village to walk in the Blue Mountains or the caves there. For international visitors, the Toronto International airport is 1.5 hours drive, you are 2 hours from downtown Toronto. The Grotto of the Bruce Peninsula is 2 hours north from here.
West Grey is a piece of Ontario that must be discovered. The Bruce trails are close, the Saugeen river for canoeing, and many swimming holes or beaches, and fishing spots. The small towns that surround the area all have little spots to offer in the way of food and drink and antiquing or shopping.
  • Awesome experience! Couldnt have asked for a better ! They were extremely kind and supportive.

    Peter2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's place is a gem in the countryside! Check-in was easy, Catherine greeted us, introduced the entire farm to us, showed us around the place, helped us with more fire woods. She made sure we have enough fire woods to burn at night, enough blankets for sleeping, and she even prepared bath ropes for us to enjoy the hottubs and many towels! Thanks Catherine, you are very attention to detail! The RV is very new, Catherine mentioned she didn't even get much chances to use it yet. The space is sparkling clean, and spacious for three people. The kitchen has everything you would need to. And the fridge has all kinds of sauces and breakfast that Catherine prepared for us. The farm is beautiful!! There are bulls, cats, horses on the farm. There is a little private trail that leads us the beautiful field with round hay bales. The field is so beautiful during sunset, you have to see it in person. Forgot to mention the century old barn, the RV is right beside it which made our stay felt very unique. At night we set the fire and watched stars. We had so much fun during our stay! Overall the experience is way way better than I had imagined. Beautiful people, beautiful farm. If you are looking for a unique and comfortable countryside experience, this is the place to stay at! You will love it!

  • Catherine and Thomas are kind, very hospitable and engaging. I had a wonderful time at the farm. It was a dream to listen to the birds everyday, spend time with the horses and be in nature. I highly recommend booking here. I can't wait to return. If I could give 10 stars I would!!!

    Sika-Rose2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine & Thomas were fantastic. I was very excited about the idea of spending a night or two in an RV and it was just as great as i thought it’d be. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to come out of their comfort zones and enjoy nature with beautiful view, cows, horses and hottub. Hope to come back here soon!

    Paul2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb experience we've ever had. Catherine and Thomas are really nice and responsive to all our questions and requests. The amenities are also much better than we expected from an RV. Basically it got everything we need for a small family. They even provided breakfast and variety of sources in the fridge. The best part is the surprisingly pleasant "farm" life there. We watched the cows roaming around, fed the horses they kept, walked the private trail with our little dog and saw the endless wheat field. In the evening we also enjoyed the fire pit where everything is well prepared. Should definitely try their fancy hot tub next time.

    Jerry2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was such a good host and went above and beyond for us and our stay. We were greeted with a fire and a tour of the property. They supplied us with a stocked fridge full of breakfast food for the morning, and the RV was spotless and looked brand new. The hot tub is amazing and in the morning we got to pay a visit to three of her horses which were gorgeous! I couldn’t be happier with our stay, and I highly reccomend it to anyone considering.

    Evan2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing vacation in Catherine's RV. Her and her boyfriend were very welcoming and one of the most thoughtful and wonderful hosts I've ever met! They gave us not only privacy, but also everything we need. It was our first time staying in an RV and we wanted to relax and spend time in a quiet place, so it was perfect! We had a BBQ, made a fire in the fire pit while watching the stars and fireflies at night(there was soo many stars). We fed the horses, had beautiful nature walks, and enjoyed a very relaxing luxurious hot tub. I would love to come back as soon as I can! Definitely recommended.

  • We had lovely weekend getaway at Dragonfly Hollow. The space was more than accommodating for our family of 4. It was clean, warm and quiet. There is wifi, and free parking on the premises. It is located in the countryside but a 15-20 minute drive to restaurants and shops if needed. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the surrounding areas. Susan was a great hostess and added some fantastic personal touches. She also made sure we had more than enough snacks and breakfast food. We will definitely be back in the summer.

    Ahmad2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I visited Dragonfly Hollow two weeks a ago for one cozy night with friends and it was perfect! Suzan is an amazing host who took care of everything we needed! The place was amazing, so clean and peaceful! There were some snacks, board games, and stuff you would maybe forgot to bring like showergel and shampoo. We felt really welcome and I would highly recommend this spot if you like to be in nature!

  • We spent the New Year’s Eve in this amazing place. Susan let us know that it’s the granny suite that we’re staying to avoid confusion, and asked our name to put a personal touch to it. Her place has all the snacks and fruits, and the yummy jams. Everything is clean - it’s an old fashioned place gives you a feel of home. The next day we went to a hike and Susan showed us amazing view . It’s just amazing. We hope to come back again in summer or autumn.

    Jane2020-01-01T00:00:00Z

  • OMG, This little hide away is truly amazing, such a cozy spot and the hosts were great. Susan greeted us when we first arrived and took us in and told us where everything was. There was plenty of room for us as we sat around the table and discussed the days events over a few drinks. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants a great place to stay. Thanks Susan and Kevin for having us in your home.

  • Wow! Just wow! Great weekend away from the city. So peaceful- even slept for 10 hours, which never happens! Valentine was so accommodating- even lent some snow boots because my boyfriend forgot his. Such a unique place to stay! I was surprised how warm the barn got and the pictures doesn't do justice! This place is beautiful! Very “instagramable” We will be back in a warmer month to enjoy more activities! Thanks again!

    Alexa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway, so many things to do. There were a few feet of snow when we arrived, but still we went snowshoeing and had a fire outside and enjoyed looking at the stars. Inside we warmed up and played games and basketball. There was so much to do and the hosts truly thought of every little detail.

    Ami2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Freija Loft was a perfect place to relax with our dogs for a weekend. We explored the property and adjacent nature preserve + took a drive to Inglis Falls which was very close by. The stay was very comfortable, clean, and super unique. We'd love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the pond & fire pit!

    Jagdeep Singh2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is breathtaking. From the moment you enter the lane way throughout the property. The cabin is cozy but just enough room for one or a few people, this old style is for sure something to try and truly appreciate what we do have day to day. Prefect place to reset and get some fresh air! The breakfast included was also spectacular as I wasn’t even expecting it, from coffee & tea to some fruit and a breakfast sandwich that kept me full into the late afternoon, quiet delicious.

    Melissa2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a tiny cabin in the woods, so expect that and you’ll be very happy. Especially considering the amenities when compared to your typical cabin in the woods. We enjoyed the sauna just a short stroll from the cabin (situated within a small teepee village), had fun exploring and playing with our pup in the snow, and the breakfast that was brought to the front door in the morning was fantastic. Highly recommend!

    Kyle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay overall, but it could be much better if we brought our own firewood. Those logs we bought on site were all damp and huge for such a small stove. Even the kindling we found in the cabin was all wet and didn’t help to set a good standing fire. So we spent the whole evening trying to make the stove go and letting the smoke out of the cabin. Also bring a good camp lantern because the ones provided are very dim. Other than that the cabin is very nice, exactly as described. A little overpriced though for what it is.

    Anna2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little cabin in the woods heated by a wood furnace and surrounded by beautiful nature. Nana and her staff were terrific and accommodating hosts. My girlfriend and I stayed overnight and had a great time. We were also able to enjoy the on-site hot tub (located about 100 feet away in the little teepee village) and were treated to a tasty breakfast/coffee delivered to us in the morning. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a secluded getaway and “pioneer-style” accommodations.

    Wes2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you like roughing it at the cottage then this place is the best. Very cozy little cabin lots of sleeping space tasty little breakfast and the surrounding nature is breathtaking. Nana runs a fine establishment and she cares about the little things and she is great at resolving any issue that may arise. We highly recommend this place for a unique and relaxing outdoor experience.

The yurt is located on our 200 acre biodynamic farm in beautiful West Grey. Guest are welcome to walk around the property and enjoy being in nature. A cozy insulated space available all year round. Meals can be requested for an additional fee.
  • This is an awesome and unique experience - the Yurt is amazing! The hosts were accommodating of our questions and needs with quick responses. The Yurt is set up well with a nice table for games, and a comfy bed!

  • An amazing winter experience, quiet and peaceful and toasty warm in the yurt on a very cold and snowy weekend. Highly recommended if you want a quiet, country stay. Michael was a super host, extremely welcoming and prepares a very delicious breakfast.

    Jamie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is amazing about this place. We stayed on a cold winter night and were warm and toasty in the blue yurt. It was cool to hear about all the details in an authentic Mongolian yurt (yak fur felt!). Bakery was tasty and breakfast as phenomenal. They really care about the guests experience and their impacts on the environment. Will definitely stay again!

    Kyle2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely wonderful experience. The yurt was cozy and clean. It was so lovely to be in the outdoors. Elisa has a beautiful walking trail behind the yurts. Wood and fire starters are provided for the wood burning stove. It gets nice and warm. There is also a kettle so make sure to bring yourself some tea or hot cocoa. Bring a couple flashlights as it got dark around 6:00pm. You sleep so wonderfully with all the fresh air. Would definitely return!

    Brianne2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic. 10/10 recommend. I am speechless and cannot praise this place and the hospitality enough. A great experience for anyone looking to unwind in the quiet. Great local restaurant (vegan based, and I am not a vegan) nearby - the Thai curry was delicious to eat by the cozy stove in the yurt, cuddled up with a book and beer. I hope to come back someday.

    Wallis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are coming to experience a yurt, you’ve found the right place! Beautiful and warm in the proper Mongolian style(need to be comfortable using a wood stove) this place is a hidden gem! A wonderful farm run by Elisa and Michael who are warm and friendly and care about making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The farm is very easy to find and fun to explore with many small towns to explore, breweries close by, and just a relaxing getaway from your daily routine. I would recommend this spot, just be prepared with a lot if snacks! Also, you can order a fresh Made hot breakfast with local produce for an added bonus which is nice on a cold morning! Thanks again for hosting

  • Irene is a warm and welcoming host. We really felt like she was sharing her home with our family. Her welcome basket, comfortable beds , well stocked kitchen, decor, beautiful location all added to our lovely stay. It was wonderful to have access to the canoe , kayak and paddle boat . Beautiful afternoons of reading our books on the swing and heartwarming chats around the bonfire at night. Beautiful memories were created... we are so grateful 💝

    Carole2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome! Everything was just perfect! Irene is a wonderful host. She is so thoughtful that she left a special candle for me as she knew I like to meditate. This place has everything that one could need. The kitchen is very well stocked! Loved everything!

  • Irene's place was a wonderful spot to getaway from the city and relax. Hanover hideaway has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking equipment to keep any chef going. Essential spices and cooking supplies were provided. The master bedroom has a wonderful king size bed with cozy linens. Lots of extra blankets, towels and pillows make for comfortable surroundings. WiFi was fast and consistent. Outside of the cottage, there is plenty to enjoy on the lake -- we made use of the BBQ, canoe, kayak and paddle boats and enjoyed lost of time on the water. The outdoor swing lounger is an amazing comfy place to kick-back. From booking through to check-out, Irene was very prompt with communication, and flexible. She even provided us with a very nice welcome basket to enhance our stay at her place. The surrounding community is friendly and welcoming -- we even enjoyed end of summer live music and fireworks from the fire-pit as the community celebrated labour day on the lake. Would certainly recommend and stay again!

    Luke2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Irene’s place is so warm and cozy. It’s the perfect beach house with an amazing kitchen. There was everything we could possibly need and she left us little thoughtful gifts for my son. The water was great and the neighbours were so exceptionally nice and even took us on a boat ride. The bed was super cozy as well. Great fishing for my little guy and it was so nice to have a bonfire every night. It was hard to leave and definitely left a piece of my heart there in Hanover.

    Ana2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Irene's place was perfect, super cozy and right on the water. Perfect for families or just a quite stay. Irene herself was super helpful, responded to question quickly, and even left us a gift basket! Defiently hope to return!

  • We did not want to leave! Irene has thoughtfully provided everything you could need or want at her cottage. She had a wonderful goodie basket waiting for us when we arrived. Lake Rosalind has so many activities on it and the community on the lake were thoughtful, caring and respectful. All the beds and furniture (inside and out) were comfy. Loved sitting on the deck with a good book and soaking in the breeze. It was exactly what our family needed!

This property is situated on the banks of the Saugeen River in the town of Durham. Guests will have full use of the 1 1/2 story bungalow, landscaped lot and private beach area. A short stroll up the street takes you to McGowan's Falls and access to the Durham Conservation Area, with its public beaches and hiking trails. The Durham Art Gallery is a stone's throw away, as are public tennis and basketball courts.
The house is quite bright and well-maintained. The kitchen, three bedrooms, bathroom and dining/living room are all located on the main floor. Downstairs, guests will find a games room, a family room and a newly-renovated second bathroom. Access to the garage is restricted. The kitchen contains a fridge, stove and dishwasher and is stocked with the usual cookware including plates, cutlery and (perhaps most importantly) a coffee maker. There is usually a bottle or two of wine kicking around. There is also a gas barbecue right outside the kitchen door. The yard and deck areas are very private and the many mature trees on the property offer visitors lots of shade.
George Street is a quiet residential street which runs along the Saugeen River. A short walk eastward takes you to the upper dam and the nearby basketball and tennis courts. Downtown is certainly walking distance (most things in Durham are) and our guests have consistently remarked upon how friendly the town is.
  • A brilliant place to escape and enjoy nature. Waterfront with kayaks and dry paddleboat, fire pit with wood offered and comfortable outdoor seating is where you will spend most of your time. Water is clear and beachfront runs deeper where swimming would be ideal. Beautiful views of open space across the water and very private and quiet. House is well appointed with lots of space to dine indoors or relax. Explore the woods across from the house, waterfalls and spot the caves near the rocks. Kids would love it too. Take out fish and chips and Chinese in town were good! Why eat there when paradise views are waiting back by the river. Dan is a great host and thoughtful!

  • You can expect a wonderful, warm, beautiful experience. We've come here twice and I expect we'll be back in the summer next year. Thanks again guys

  • Dan and Carrie’s place is so cozy and the location is amazing. The private beach is perfect and the river is so clean. We were met by Dan at check in and he walked us through the home to make sure we could find everything. He could not have been more pleasant. Thank you Carrie and Dan! We would love to visit again!

    Courtney2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is super nice and the house is awesome: very comfortable, amazing views, it has everything you need. We really enjoyed the sunsets from the dock and the paddle boat. It was also very conveniently located for us, about midway between Toronto and Bruce peninsula national park. We'd definitely love to come back next summer!

    Noëlla2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to enjoy the amenities of home while having an “up-north cottage” feel. Carrie and Dan are the perfect hosts. So kind, thoughtful and always quick to respond. Love having a king-size bed and cozy duvet. Best sleep for being away from home. Dan & Carrie provide every amenity that you can think of. The outdoor property is amazing and they have loads of activities for both on and off the water suitable for all family members. We also love that we can bring our dog and they even left us a bottle of wine and dog treats along with a leash/tie out rope. Fire pit is an added bonus. We will continue to book here each summer even if only for a few days.

  • A unique space, warm and welcoming. Even though it was once a tiny church, it has a cottage feel - a relaxing and fun/quirky atmosphere. It's great to be welcomed to a place where the motto is: "Our home is your home -- take off your shoes, sit back and play the instruments or curl up in one of our comfy chairs and share our books - and if you can't completely cut yourself off - well go ahead and sign in - the wifi works." Oh, and its sparkling clean with lovely soaps! THANK YOU, Heather and Doug. We'll be back!

  • This is a very unique space, worth experiencing!

  • Heather's place is fantastic. It is refreshingly unique, in an era when so many Airbnbs have come to look exactly the same. Heather and Doug were very nice and welcoming and we chatted for quite a while when we arrived. I feel like this is the sort of experience Airbnb originally intended and has become less and less common.

  • We had a lovely time at Cole's cottage. It is was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a great time here and would stay again. The only thing we were a little disappointed by was the lack of comfortable outdoor seating/outdoor table options. There are two white plastic chairs around the firepit (one of which was broken) and several outdoor chairs on the front deck that did not have any cushions. Luckily, we had some camping chairs with us so it wasn't a huge issue, but something that people should keep in mind if hoping to spend time outside. Also important to mention that the kitchen is FULLY stocked. You really do not have to worry about bringing anything to cook with and having a coffee bar set up was incredible. Overall the interactions with Cole were very pleasant and he replied very quickly to a question we had during our stay.

    Stephanie2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fantastic weekend. The cottage was clean, fully loaded with board games, cards, movies and a great sound system. Cole was a great host who was very easy to get into contact with and we look forward to going back!

    Katey2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to stay and Cole was very easy to work with. We didn't have great weather while we were there, but we still enjoyed ourselves. The sound of the birds and the frogs at night were awesome. Hanover is very close by. There's a microbrewery that has very good beer and good conversation. If you're looking to unplug and get away from work, internet ect... and reset, you'll find the peace and quiet here very welcoming. The cottage itself is very nice and very clean. It has pretty much everything you'd need for your stay. We really appreciated all the dishes and cookware there. I'm sure that we'll stay there again at some point

Come relax by the fireplace in this beautiful new Suite located within walking distance of so much that Hanover has to offer. You will enjoy having the ability to live just like you or at home with a full set up kitchen at your disposal. Whether it's a stroll down to the library just a block away and fresh donuts at Schultz's Totally Baked or up to the Queens Bush Pub to hear some supper with live music on Friday or Saturday night, we are centrally located. Enjoy good old small town living!
The sweet Suite allows a degree of privacy even though there is an open flow to the layout. It was important to have a larger bathroom so there's ample room for getting ready for your day or a relaxing bath at the end of it. Lots of windows makes the suite bright but triple pane glass in the bedroom it's a great addition for sleeping.
Hanover is a very walkable town and would so many other small towns within a few minutes Drive it's a great place to go discovering. You will also find a lot of beaches all within an easy hours drive. Owen Sound, Sauble, Southampton, Port Elgin, Kincardine, Wiarton and Goderich are great day trip spots. Check out Touism Ontario for festival dates too.

Our home is tucked away in a wooded area of 2 acres, completely secluded and offers solitude in a wonderfully peaceful setting. Enjoy a morning coffee on the front porch and cosy up with a hot chocolate in front of the wood burning stove in the evening.
Our home has a full kitchen including dishwasher and large island, dining area and sitting room with a wood burning stove. There is a separate Living Room with a large sectional sofa and TV. Due to our location we are unable to pick up cable TV, however we have a selection of DVDs available for use. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms with Queen Beds, 1 bedroom with a Double Bed and one bedroom with 2 Twin beds. Full laundry facilities are also provided. The kitchen and living area is heated primarily by the woodstove. Firewood is included in the rental and the shed is well stocked, just a short walk down the path. There are electric heaters for use but we expect that our guests will embrace the pioneer spirit of Log Cabin living. There are baseboard heaters in all other rooms (both bathrooms, TV room and all in bedrooms).

  • We knew we'd be off the grid with this place (wifi), but that didn't affect our stay at all. Data signal was great if needed but the living room/dining/kitchen was a fantastic space to make a great dinner, play some games and light a fire. We nevwr even used the sceond living space with the TV as the rest of the house was so comfortable. The firepit outside was fabulous. Always got the fire to light! The whole place was an incredible find! Will be back if ever in the area.

  • This is our second time staying at this stunning location in the fall!! We absolutely loved the site the first time we stayed and had to come back. The campsite has everything you need with a lot of thoughtful touches. We asked Valentine to rent additional camping gear and they set up the tent for us in advance. The site itself is beautifully secluded with access to well marked forest trails and lakes. Ghazal and Valentine responded so quickly before and throughout our stay making check-in and asking questions super easy. They were both so hospitable and made our stay enjoyable! The local recommendations were great! Williamsford Pie company was delicious!

  • Amazing secluded campsite. I will definitely be returning!

    Abhinav2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. The campsite is incredibly private and the property itself is beautiful. Having wood and drinking water provided (as well as the small kitchen space) was a nice touch. The composting toilet was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would note is that while we were able to drive directly to the campsite (because our car could handle the journey), it would have been a bit of steep/bumpy walk with all our gear. Regardless I highly recommend this spot for a camping experience that feels more adventurous than a standard park but without any of the actual inconveniences!

    Heather2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want secluded camping, this is the best. Nice land for pitching tents with the nearby ponds for swimming. The included amenities make for nice touches that make camping more pleasant. I would highly recommend this as a camp site. It’s well worth the money.

    Ryan2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Valentine and Ghazal were amazing hosts. The site is tranquil and surrounded by forest, and the stars at night are spectacular. It is equipped with everything you might need. The pond is also a lot of fun! Thanks so much for a lovely trip!

  • Great place, I came up with two friends to celebrate my friends birthday. We did a beautiful hike in lionshead earlier in the day, which is just an hour away from the campsite. Make sure you take advantage of the beautiful ponds and the canoe! They provide many things that you may need for camping- bug spray, toilet paper, pots for cooking, water, etc. They answer messages really quickly, so i felt like if I ever needed anything it would be addressed really quickly. We also had a great campfire the night we were there. We will definitely be back!

  • We loved our stay! We felt very comfortable, safe, and it was very clean. The location was great, too. We just loved every minute of our visit. Shannon and Jaques are the most wonderful people. They were very accommodating, helpful and friendly, gave us some superb recommendations on where to eat and even made the reservations. This is a retreat! Stunning home, has everything you will need, amazing hosts and a lot of privacy.

  • Shannon was very friendly, helpful and patient with us. We really appreciate that. The house and the area are quite big and good for a group of friends hanging out. There is a private lake at the back. And there is a pit fire available if requested before 5pm. The place is clean, and has all the necessities for cooking and BBQing. I recommend this place 5 out of 5 stars.

If you're looking for some R & R in easy reach of Toronto, come and re-boot and replenish here! Private setting, well-equipped and nicely furnished large home perched on 80 acres; a mix of working fields, lovely forest and trails, a beautiful large spring-fed pond and streams. Watch the light change over the ridge as day goes to evening, and enjoy the canopy of stars on a clear night! Preferred booking aged 30 plus.
This lovely spot holds many memories for varied friends and families. Quiet getaway on 80 acres. Great for relaxing, spreading out, checking in with nature.
What's so lovely about this spot is it's secluded and quiet, but "town", either Markdale or Durham just 15 minute drive with grocery and amenities. Lovely Saugeen River and park in Durham, just north is the Bruce Trail and Owen Sound. Wonderful local farmers markets and nooks and crannies to explore.
  • Heather and Marike are incredible hosts! Communication was always quick and easy. The pictures do not do it justice, a beautiful farmhouse set in grand rolling woodland with plenty of trails to explore. We're already planning our next visit!

  • Terrific!! Just what the Doctor ordered during a long winter in the rat race to make one love winter again. We had activities in that area and booked this property because of the great price point and charming photos. It was even better!! There’s a lovely, calming, cheerful and nostalgic vibe about everything at this property! You feel at home immediately and know that Heather wants you to love it as much as she does. We did. Those tranquil, country views from the living room and the raven that lives in the barn just kept us gazing and wanting to learn more. Wonderful. We loved being here in the winter and hope to be back! We were 2 couples who made a beautiful feast in the fully equipped kitchen and had plenty of room for our own little areas to enjoy quiet time over the weekend too. I wanted to stay for a full week and take more long walks, a long bath and read one of the books off the shelf. 2 nights wasn’t enough time to enjoy the property, the house, the charming, nearby towns but was worth the short drive from the city because the calming impact was remarkably instantaneous as you pull up to the house. Heather had thoughtful details everywhere from blankets, a fire ready to start, board games, high quality linens and towels, proper shades for a good sleep in and even greeted by a little Buddha. We just loved it and it was so easy. We didn’t need to bring anything but groceries and our toiletries. The driveway was plowed, Heather was amazing with communication, lights and heat were on to welcome us. Everything in that house and property has a cool story but she really made it feel like it was ours to make our own story. My advice...GO! Sincere thanks. Xo

  • My family spent Family Day Weekend at The Ridge. It was exactly what we needed! The space was inviting and created a cozy calm vibe that we all picked up on. My 6 and twin 3 year olds were outside every day sledding, snow shoeing and playing in the snow. It was a winter wonderland! We would definitely return!

  • I have now stayed at the Ridge on two separate occasions and Heather is always quick to respond, and always has wood stocked for the fire and the house in order and very clean. I definitely plan to return again !!

  • Heather’s place was lovely and, for me, exactly the kind of setting and “vibe” I was looking for during a two-week, self-directed writing retreat. The place is quiet, off the beaten path, with barely one car an hour passing on the road, which can’t even be seen, given the trees between the road and the house. I know that Heather advertises her place as dog friendly, and I’m sure it is, but I may have had an advantage being without a dog, twice seeing wild turkeys walk right across the lawn. During a cool first week, I had the furnace going *and* a fire in the wood-burning stove (more for atmosphere than out of necessity) and it was nice and cozy inside. And if I wanted to sit outside, the south side of the house, nestled in a little garden and looking over the fields, was nicely sheltered from the prevailing winds. Of course, the house was clean, the upstairs bedrooms with the dormer windows were charming and the kitchen had everything by way of pots and pans and dishes and cutlery that I needed. The entire house has updated and decorated tastefully and with respect for the original farm house. Thank you, Heather.
