Hi there,Welcome to the Nishimura Residence.This is Yuta Sugimoto, your host. The Nishimura Residence is a traditional Nara machiya (townhouse) that is over 110 years old.In 2019, I renovated “Grandma’s House,” where I spent a lot of time as a child, and opened it as an inn.Since the Nara machiya has been preserved in its original state, it may cause some inconvenience, and it is not a luxurious hotel where everything is provided. 　Instead, I believe there is no better place than Nara-cho to immerse oneself in the “comfortable rustic atmosphere” that permeates the town.We provide books in the room and a vegetarian breakfast in the hope that this environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the station, will help you with “introspection and recovery.”(You can purchase almost all of the books in the room.) 　Please spend this evening listening to your own heart's voice, surrounded by the tranquility of the Nishimura residence and Nara-cho.

This 60-year-old traditional home has been fully renovated, offering guests a deep sense of both "Japan" and "Nara". Experience our traditional "futon" or rest comfortably in our beds for longer stays. Our dual-themed garden provides a serene Nara-esque atmosphere and a fun play area for kids with a large slide. Families can enjoy watching their children from inside. Prioritizing hygiene, our place is cleaned by professionals and equipped with brand-new sanitary facilities.

All air conditioners were cleaned on February 26. Within walking distance to Todaiji, your next travel home is here. Nara Park is also nearby, offering a wonderful blend of history and nature, making this private rental house perfect for family or friends. It is conveniently located for access to major attractions like Nara Park and Kasuga Taisha. For long-term guests, we offer drinks, snacks, and other perks. We will do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Traditional district Guesthouse

The house is in a quiet, traditional area of Nara with smooth access to the station and main sightseeing spots. You’ll have 2 guest rooms upstairs with a toilet and washbasin. The shower room is on the first floor. Each room has a lock for your privacy. There are 3 futon beds and 1 double bed. Meals are available if reserved 2 days in advance: sukiyaki dinner (6,500 JPY/person) breakfast (1500JPY/person) I also run a cozy café nearby, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

A Satoyama Private Retreat in Nara

A private Satoyama retreat in the mountains of Nara, just 20 minutes from the city. This traditional one-group-per-day house is renovated with reclaimed wood and uses fresh mountain spring water. Enjoy hands-on cooking with organic rice and vegetables from our farm. Relax in a wood-fired bath, and in the morning experience a Japanese tea ceremony surrounded by nature. Dinner options include tempura & sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken, koji fried chicken, or pizza making.

The surroundings are full of nature, and if you are lucky, you can see animals such as wild deer, boars and squirrels. In addition to burning charcoal in the fireplace and enjoying the burning fire, you can enjoy the following as fireplace dishes. (We prepare 1 box of charcoal. A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!

You can rent an old house that is over 100 years old. A 3-minute walk from JR Nara Station and a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. There are many convenience stores and restaurants in the surrounding area. The building is old but has been renovated in a modern style. There is also floor heating on the first floor, and all rooms are air-conditioned. Comfortable even in winter. There is a parking space for one car on the adjacent lot.
