Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Kosbys Cottage, Tongariro — a thoughtfully renovated 1911 mountain cottage just 5 minutes from Ohakune and close to Tongariro Crossing, Old Coach Road and Ruapehu adventures. Wake to mountain views and birdsong, then return to a cosy wood burner, comfortable beds, fibre internet and quiet evenings on the deck. Sleeping 4 with a queen room and twin room, Kosbys is pet friendly, full of character, and designed for relaxing after days exploring the Central Plateau.

Alpine Bach - with Spa and separate Games Room

This bach is our happy place. Sat on 1/2 an acre it's an easy walk to central Ohakune's restaurants/bars/cafes and the supermarket. After walking, snowboarding, skiing or mountain biking relax on the deck or in the spa with a view to Mount Ruapehu. When you are ready for more action go to the games room for darts, pool or foosball. Both the bach and games room have heat pumps and TVs and of course there is wifi, plenty of parking, and a drying room.
