House holiday rentals in Te Waipounamu / South Island

Place was perfect for us for a long holiday . The location was perfect and the house had enough space for all of us and for the dogs . Yard was great and loved the privacy and the area. Did not realize how beautiful the place was until we went for walks and explored . So close to the lake and to great swimming spots. Would love to come back.

Great position on Fernhill overlooking the lake and the Remarkables. Very cozy and comfortable studio. The hot tub was a great experience after a day out. I definitely recommend Clint and Anitas place here in Queenstown.

We had an incredible stay at the Lake House! Jody and Barney have done an amazing job including extra special touches that make this stay remarkable in a truly beautiful part of the world. Jody was great for local suggestions and helped organise a birthday cake for my husband prior to our arrival. Unfortunately the guests before us were inconsiderate of the off-grid setup and did not adhere to the house rules and we arrived with no power or running water. Jody went out of her way to correct this, supplying additional amenities, a meal voucher and crediting us some of the night fee while a generator helped to restore power overnight. Thank you for sharing this beautiful space! We hope to be back one day.

We loved staying there, great for kids with sporting equipment and big backyard with soccer goals. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful home in a unique location. Our three generations gathered from three countries for a lovely 5 days together in Christchurch. The views from all levels of this home are over the top. With high end cookware, two dishwashers and (my personal favorite and usual airbnb pet peeve) sharp knives, we grilled and gathered for “dinners in” every night instead of going out. Great access to governors bay pier and coffee/pizza just a short walk away. Loved this place so much and would return in a heartbeat.

A beautiful home with a truly spectacular view!! It felt so peaceful to sit in front of the fireplace and just look out over the lake. It was more than enough space for the 5 of us to really relax. Hot tub was a great bonus!

Julianne’s home was perfect for our stay. Situated in a superb location to enjoy all that is special about Wanaka. Fabulous views over Lake Wanaka and the mountains. Magical sunsets. Beautiful surrounds all walkable. Peaceful neighbourhood. A very spacious and comfortable home with everything we needed and more. Thank you Julianne for being a superhost. Very easy to communicate with and clear instructions before arrival much appreciated.

Fantastic location, clean and tidy. Lovely and warm on cooler evenings. So handy being 2 minutes walk to the Cadrona pub for dinner.

Anna’s home is a beautiful, well-kept, and well proportioned house with an absolutely stunning view. We’ve stayed in lots of ‘tiny homes’ but Anna’s truly feels like a proper house, with a separate living room, bedroom, bathroom, and generous outdoor seating area. The home was pristine, and well stocked with everything we’d need. We particularly appreciated the binoculars for birdwatching on lake manapouri. Bed was large and comfy, we got great sleep with zero noise. Shower was hot with good power. We took a day trip to Doubtful Sound (absolutely spectacular; you must do), and we were able to walk from Anna’s place to the harbour, making the trip effortless. You can also take a short walk to lake manapouri and enjoy a swim. Anna was a wonderful host, and was very kind and considerate in her messaging. We loved staying in Anna’s place and would love to stay there again. 11 out of 10!

Nancy’s place was breathtakingly amazing. Our stay was so special, so relaxing, so intimate and so tranquil. Nancy was friendly, responsive and nothing was ever an issue The place was flawless. If you could give serenity and bliss a location, this was it

Drew and Sally were the sweetest! They made the effort to meet us when we arrived, showed us around and explained how certain items worked. Their pantry was full and they provided us milk, a loaf of bread, and farm fresh eggs which we enjoyed a lot! There were two rooms: the first was with one big bed suitable for a couple, and the second room was huge and housed 4 beds comfortably. We really enjoyed our stay and Koa, the friendliest dog was a bonus! Before we left, we requested for a short tour around the farm and understood the sustainable practices that the family is so passionate about. We cannot thank you enough, Drew and Sally, we hope to be back someday!

Fantastic would be selling it short! Not only is Brad, super responsive and accomodating, but the location itself over seeing the Bay Area, the outdoor tub (amazing way to wake up) and the intuitive layout inside along with the automation makes this stay an absolute gem!

Four of us (couples in 70s & 30s) have just enjoyed a lovely 3 nights in Tarras..facilities exactly as set out, any questions/issues promptly resolved by friendly and welcoming host..the cottage particularly warm..other highlights looking up at the night sky and the wine tasting (and buying)..yes, an unsealed road on approach but no issues if driving appropriately..

Thank you Simon for offering this incredible space. I stayed for one night with my partner and we both absolutely loved it. It has everything you need, new washer / dryer, fully furnished and modern kitchen, warm heat pump and an very comfortable bed but beyond this, it has an intangible cozy feeling with the wood fire and my favourite outdoor bathtub. The home was very warm and it was -6 degrees outside. The bathtub was the cherry on top. Very hot and spacious, easily fitting 2 guests. Awesome contrast with the cold outside. Simon as a host was fantastic. Responded fast to any questions we had. Simon went out of his way to help melt the water that had frozen the bath taps, checking multiple times on the day of our visit. Really appreciated that as I feel other hosts would’ve left it frozen. Cheers Simon!

A lovely house to base yourself in Central Otago. Spotless and spacious and very toasty warm in the colder weather. Keiran was easy to communicate with and helpful operating instructions for the appliances were on hand. Plenty of room and although not required by us was good to see a cot and highchair for those with small families.

The most beautiful retreat amongst singing birds, nature, gardens and the river. We loved every minute of our stay especially the log burner and delicious ambience. Loveday has very tastefully furnished the house with style and nothings been missed. We were there when it was very cold and so we spent time reading books, and chilling - which we never seem to do at home! Both hosts were welcoming and delightful and gave us privacy while also stocking us up with wood for the fire. We will be back and can't wait to experience heaven once more! We loved the peaceful area, absolutely breathtaking views, outdoor tub and unreal sunrises from the cabin. We loved unplugging, quick trips to check the surf and the slow comfort of the space. Fantails came to visit daily and the stargazing was awesome. Truly a special space and we hope to return someday!

We had a fantastic stay! The property was absolutely stunning — both the interior and exterior were beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The location was not too far from the township yet private enough to have some serenity away from the busy highway. Everything we could have needed was thoughtfully provided. We were super impressed and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended!

Sally's place was perfect for us.. The home was comfortable, clean and warm.. Kitchen was good to have with all the amenities.... The hot tub was Gold.. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains from the home and lots of forest walking/ mtn biking trails close by.. Lake Hawea close by was really nice too.. Sally was helpful with any questions we had including recomending the best route for us to drive up there from Queenstown which was an unreal scenic easy drive to get to the home.. We'd definatley go back and would highly recommend to anyone else considering a stay here...

Homely feel, comfortable lounge and bed, and lots of good heating. The view is absolutely amazing, this is the main reason we stayed here. Kitchen could do with a makeover but it has everything you need.

Tracy’s home was the perfect getaway for our family. The house is not only beautiful but also incredibly comfortable. Traveling with two infants, we had a few extra needs, and Tracy went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. Communication was clear, quick, and helpful throughout our stay. We’d happily return in a heartbeat!
