Sitting pretty in a wild flower meadow surrounded by open fields, this barn conversion is countryside simplicity at its best: updated appliances and rustic furniture arranged for open-plan living to relax unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The barn is located in the meadow behind our thatched cottage. The space is entirely your own and is self catered with a well equipped open plan kitchen. We're on hand should you need any advice or assistance during your stay, though you'll have your own privacy and can interact as much or as little as you'd like. Enjoy pastoral tranquility here whilst being within an easy 10-minute reach of the medieval charm of Lavenham. Public footpaths are close by or venture further afield to admire the beautiful Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds. Once you arrive in the barn, there is a small collection of books about the surrounding area and county. We can of course recommend places to visit.

In the pleasant village of Great Waldingfield, with a pub, village shop, and close to Sudbury (3 miles), Lavenham (4 miles), Bury St. Edmunds(16 miles). We live next door so are happy to help with directions and what to do in the area.

To the rear is a terrace - a sheltered spot for breakfast al-fresco. It has a lockable rear entrance for secure cycle and pushchair storage. Free car park 100m away.

We had a beautiful stay at Nicola’s cottage. It is an exceptional place to visit, and having been Airbnb super hosts for years we know what we like, but Nicola has thought of everything and more. From her wonderful communication, little treats on arrival, and the facilities are better than imagined. You need a car really to explore but if you love walking then it’s perfect. We had breakfast at one of the places recommended in the welcome pack, and that was also amazing! (Folk). Beds are comfy, linen 5* quality and everything is luxurious. Even though it’s such an old property there is still modern luxury needed- great showers, dishwasher etc. We loved it. 5* host and accommodation- thanks Nicola!

We had a wonderful weekend at the old steam mill. Photos don’t do it justice - it’s even more spacious and beautiful in real life! Very comfortable and quiet, the hosts Mark and Celina accommodated us at very short notice and were lovely and responsive when needed. The garden was perfect to enjoy a drink and meals in the warm summer evenings and our dog loved exploring. It was everything we hoped for a countryside getaway not too far from London.

1938 London Tube Carriage in adult's only retreat

As a Host in Burnham Market myself, I have high standards..so this quirky place was a fantastic choice for our 4 night stay. Correspondence with Eloise and Matt was fantastic as was that with Debbie and Dan (the onsite hosts), along with Kit the massage lady. In fact, all of their correspondence was superb with nothing being too much trouble. Things to do in the area:- Walk into Lavenham (about 40mins) - lots of good restaurants, cafes and shops. Bus from Lavenham to Bury St Edmonds -a great trip to a historic city, Def view the Abbey Gardens. Long Melford - also very nice village - huge green with a National Trust House & individual shops. As it's a sympathetically renovated tube carriage note it will be chilly in winter as single glazed - so come prepared. There is u/f heating and blankets however. The heated pool is an added bonus for those who like to swim. Would definitely love to return and hopefully pick a better week weather-wise! Thank you Victoria and Steve.

What a little gem of a property. Good directions and secure parking in the driveway. A lovely welcome from the host - a slice of cake and fresh flowers on the kitchen table too. The cottage is delightful and has everything one could need for a holiday. Very well equipped, and the place was impeccable. The bed was very comfortable and quality duvet and bedding. Powerful shower as well as large bath if a soak is required after a long day of walking or cycling. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely revisit. Many thanks, Jo. Neill & Julie
