The Agriturismo Poggio del Gallo is in the heart of the countryside of Chiaramonte Gulfi, a few kilometers from the park of Monti Hyblaean, a few miles to Comiso Airport. It is the perfect location as a base to visit the nearby Ragusa, Modica, Caltagirone, Donnafugata and Punta Secca.
“You have to like dogs to enjoy everything about Davide's place! He has got 5 of them. An outstanding host who is an amazing professional chef. We loved staying with Davide and he gave us lots of tips about the local area - it is "real" Sicily and very different from "tourist" Sicily. The local town Chiaramonte Gulfi is worth visiting. There is a nice beach at Punta Secca. Do not bother visiting Portopalo di Capo Passero, the South East tip of Sicily. The house does not have a name sign on it - so use the Lat and Long - put it into Google Maps - and you won't get lost. Recommend you buy dinner cooked by Davide on at at least one night - big portions and delicious home grown food.”

“I am not sure what to add to the fantastic reviews Lorenzo and his place already has gotten, except for that we totally agree with everything that has been written ...and then some. What a fantastic and authentic experience! Thank’s to Lorenzo for letting us stay at his beautiful farm. A perfect place to stay when exploring the Ragusa area or ticking off the bucket list of sitting under an olive tree and drinking italian wine (Pianogrillo off course) and eating fresh cheese and ham. Oooh, and what a view from the pool 😊 Magical! And by the way, after trying the gelato in many places during our stay, the whole crew agreed that the best one we found on the piazza in Chiaramote Gulfi. Another reason for coming back! Grazie mille, Lorenzo!”
The ASSO DI SPADE room is about 25 square meters, it is composed of a small corridor overlooked by the private bathroom and the actual bedroom with double bed, it is equipped with independent heating and not with air conditioning as the structure in stone allows you to maintain an ideal temperature even on the hottest days.
“Vivien has created a wonderful haven in the valley of Palazzolo Acreide, full of flowers. The room was lovely - though a bit humid when the weather turned to rain in September. We had a wonderful basket of fruits waiting for us when we arrived. Someone else mentioned the breakfasts, they were scrumptious indeed, huge, and varied on the two days we stayed there, a real treat! It as amazing swimming in the spring water pool, even under the rain. We will definitely be back if we visit the region again.”
