Guest house holiday rentals in Akureyri

We had a fantastic stay at Þóra and Ivan's home! They were so friendly and helpful and we felt so welcomed and at home. We really couldn't fault our experience, it was the highlight of of stay in Iceland. It's really a beautiful place (about 10 minutes outside Akureyri) with fantastic views and we even saw the northern lights right over head on the second night! The house has been thoughtfully designed by the hosts, it is warm, cozy and stylish. Breakfast was great with home made bread and waffles and a great selection of tea. Beds were really comfy :) Stay here if you can, what Þóra and Ivan offer is the pinnacle of Air B&B experiences!

I really enjoyed my stay at Swany’s. I arrived very late and she greeted me in person. Swany was welcoming, friendly, social, and she invited me to join her and her friends in her natural spring hot tub for midnight sun! It was beautiful and nice to talk with other travelers. My Airbnb room was cute, clean, and comfortable. The shared bathroom and kitchen were clean and had everything I needed. I enjoyed the meditation loft too. This is somewhat like a hostel with numerous individual bedrooms and two shared kitchens and two shared bathrooms. There is plenty of space which is beautifully decorated, and every room has a spectacular view of the lake. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Swany!

Ich habe drei Nächte bei Swany zugebracht und es war wirklich sehr, sehr schön. Die Unterkunft ist wie auf den Bildern und noch viel schöner und sehr gemütlich. Die Umgebung ist einfach ein Traum. Bis Akureyri fährt man ca. eine halbe Stunde, im kleinen Nachbarort gibt auch ein Restaurant, man kann Whale Watching Touren machen. In Dalvík gibt es auch einen Lebensmittelladen. Das Gästehaus ist super, besonders wenn man alleine reist, man kommt direkt mit den anderen Gästen ins Gespräch. Und Swany selber ist eine sehr herzliche Gastgeberin. Sie begrüßt ihre Gäste persönlich, zeigt alles und ist auch zwischendurch immer da. Die Zeit in Selá war sehr schön und ich hoffe, irgendwann wiederkommen zu können.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sela. Swany welcomed us to her cozy place and we immediately cancelled our restaurant reservation so we could use the beautiful place to cook and enjoy the coziness of it. Thank you Swany for that wonderful place!

Es war mehr als nur perfekt. ❤️ Wir haben uns direkt wie zu Hause gefühlt. Swany ist eine wirklich liebe Frau, ihr Airbnb ist viel mehr wie einfach nur eine schlafmöglichkeit es ist eine wunderbare Erfahrung, ein Ort für Erholung und zum wohlfühlen! Wir möchten auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und wir konnten an zwei von zwei Abenden die nordlichter sehen und das sogar im hottub.. Es war einfach perfekt vielen vielen Dank!!!

Have a prefect glass hall that keep you from cold while u wait for the northern lights

Beautiful clean place in an idyllic setting. Linens are crisp and white and the bed is comfortable. The view is absolutely stunning. The host is super helpful and even arranged so we could get our laundry done even though we arrived late in the evening.

A beautiful home to spend some quiet time resting in. Valdis is a auper responsive and friendly host, I highly recommend booking here :)

Sehr gemütliche, schön eingerichtete Unterkunft. Aufgrund eines angekündigten Schneesturms und gesperrter Straßen haben wir kurzfristig eine zweite Nacht gebucht. Weil das Wetter keine Unternehmungen zuließ, mussten wir einen Tag komplett in der Unterkunft verbringen. Da das Zimmer sehr geräumig und mit kleiner Küche, Fernseher und eigenem Bad ausgestattet ist, ließ es sich sehr gut aushalten. Die Küche hätte ein wenig gründlicher geputzt sein können (Krümel im Kühlschrank und Besteckschublade, die Gäste vor uns haben den Pfannenwender nicht richtig abgewaschen und Essensreste im Sieb der Spüle hinterlassen), davon abgesehen war alles sehr sauber. Die Umgebung ist wunderbar und bei gutem Wetter hat man einen tollen Blick vom Balkon aus. Dazu ist Stefán ein sehr sympathischer, freundlicher Gastgeber und hat uns herzlich empfangen. Wir kommen gerne wieder :)

It would be an understatement to say that our time at Swany's Airbnb as pure magical. There is no doubt I'd book there again when I revisit Iceland again. Everything during our stay there was just wonderful. From the magical uniqueness of the place, to the picturesque skies, to the peaceful neighborhood, to Swany's hospitality, i feel so lucky to have found this place.

The guesthouse is so lovely! Everything is really thoughtfully designed for travelers with a hotel-quality room and fully stocked, large, communal kitchen. I was so grateful to do a load of laundry on our travels and meet the 3 adorable bunny rabbits on the property.

Akureyri Backpackers is right in the heart of the town. Almost everything is within a walkable distance.

Auf unserem Roadtrip durch Island haben wir in vielen verschiedenen Unterkünften übernachtet. Dieses süße, saubere und in guter Lage gelegene Gästehaus hat uns mit Abstand am besten gefallen. Wir waren froh, dass wir gleich zwei Nächte geblieben sind. Der Ausblick von der Terrasse ist ein Traum. Das Appartement war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Der Hot Tub konnte auf Anfrage ebenfalls genutzt werden. Die Kommunikation verlief reibungslos. Auf Nachrichten wurde schnell geantwortet. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Empfehlung!
