Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Appenzell Ausserrhoden

We were able to spend super nice days at Manuela's cottage for the second time. Everything was perfect again. The large garden was a highlight for young and old to play, discover or relax. We really appreciated the many toys for the kids. The house is also very lovingly furnished. Thank you very much dear Manuela.

johannes was a very forthcoming host, whenever we ve had an issue he was very quick in response. also did he offe us a refund since we have had some issues while staying. but since he resolved these greatly there is nothing to complain about. would again stay at his lovely house. thanks for hosting!

The property was as described and very clean. There was everything you need and we felt very comfortable.

We enjoyed the time in Urnäsch very much, the house had everything we needed, practically and yet lovingly furnished and very clean. The location is quiet and yet within a short walking distance to the train station (and to the Gelateria!) and is therefore extremely well suited as a starting point for various hikes, especially in the area of the Schwägalp and into the Toggenburg - and on every hill there is a tavern, perfect! The location where the cottage is located is really nice! You have a great view of the Säntis and can start hiking directly from the accommodation. The accommodation was as described, only the curtains were a little too translucent for us. We were on site with two dogs and felt very comfortable :-)

Very nice cottage with garden, between slightly modern and old school. Beautiful nature, etc., we haven't been so relaxed in a long time, even the dog was relaxed. The bonus was the little stream that runs through the garden, especially nice for falling asleep. Highly recommended👌👍👍

The apartment is centrally located yet quiet. The train station, supermarket and bakery are a 5-minute walk away. The kitchen is very well equipped (including raclette oven and fondue caquelon). It is worth booking at least three nights to benefit from the best holiday card in Switzerland (including free check-in and return by train). We felt very comfortable with Hans and Hildegard and will come back.

I recommend booking the apartment.

We enjoyed our holiday in the very clean and super equipped apartment. By car we made many excursions and also on site we used some hiking trails. We felt very welcome, could contact Michael at any time and got good excursion tips. We will be happy to come back!

Martin is a beautiful host, and his communication is great. The apartment was clean and very comfortable, and he filled it with nice treats for breakfast. His communication was always helpful and made everything easy. I really enjoyed my stay.

Regula's apartment was super clean and had such and amazing view! It was so quiet at night and had a giant sky filled with stars. Convenient location and only a short drive to Appenzel. We used this place as a base camp to hike to the Schafler hut and Äscher. Regula was such a wonderful host and left us some delicious homemade jam upon our arrival. She gave us great recommendations and was super friendly. This was a highlight of our trip. If her apartment is available, book it!

We had a blissful stay at Michael’s place overlooking the lake. As fans of architecture, we truly appreciated the thoughtfully designed space—every detail felt intentional and well planned. It was clear how much care and love went into creating this home, and we’re grateful to the hosts for sharing such a personal and special place with us. Beautiful little apartment from which you can walk to everything important in Herisau. The amenities were great and nothing was missing. Parking spot outside the house is great.

Susanne is very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. The apartment is very well decorated, with a balanced contrast of modern and old. Unlike other comments, the church bells located opposite did not bother us! Recommended for discovering this part of the Appenzell canton. Thank you for everything.

Large apartment that is well furnished with a kitchen, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The neighbourhood is also very quiet - all we could hear were birds chirping. We also appreciated the clear instructions given by Raphael and Dianna. Overall, this is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Appenzell region!

My apartment was in a great location. perfect for riding my bicycle. The apartment is very comfortable with everything one needs.

Overall, the place was very suitable. I'm used to a lot of space so coming to Europe (from Canada) there is always a bit of a sacrifice. Irene's place is very nice and has a great view but there are a few things you should know. First, it's an old boarding house with lots of stairs. You're staying on the top floor so you will have to carry your luggage up 5 flights of stairs. You have the entire space to yourself but Irene lives on the main floor. You're on the 3rd floor. There is laundry but it's in the basement and Irene charges 3 francs. Well worth it and you have pretty much exclusive access. The view is incredible and there is a little deck you can stand on and take in the view. Kitchen is new and has everything you need. Irene even left some bread, cheese, meats and yogurt out for me. The location is on a giant hill but so is most of Switzerland so nothing out of the ordinary. There is a small store up the street but most things require a vehicle to get around.

Vreni’s apt. Was perfect for my wife and I and I will definitely return on my next visit. Her home is centrally located making it easy to walk to most anything in Gais and it was easy to visit Appenzell by car and train. Also easy to get into St Gallen. From the moment you enter the apt you can feel the history and warmth of this home. Best AirBnB home I have been in while visiting Switzerland. Thank you Vernice, Danke!!
