Summer paradise by Göta Kanal

Gammalrud is a farm, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula, which goes into Lake Viken and is called Vika forests. Here we conduct forestry and lamb production since 1976. Surrounded by the beautiful forest, lake Viken (the highest point of Göta Kanal) and the hospitality of Thord and Ulla, this is your idyllic home away from home. We have renovated the old farm dairy, "Mejeriet", and made it into a nice home that we rent out to guests. The ground floor consists of a hallway, a kitchen suited for 8 persons and a large living room with a cozy fireplace. The living room floor is made of hand-made bricks from the old brickworks in the nearby village Horn. The upper floor consists of one large room with wooden floor and alcoves for 6 persons. At the old canal landing, we have built a large boathouse. Here is a place, not just for boats, but also for gatherings and parties. If you´d like to go fishing you are more than welcome to rent our small boat to try your luck catching pike, perch or any of the other fish in lake Viken. There is also a sauna in the Boathouse. Gammalrud is a farm dating back to the Middle Ages. A full list of previous owners dates back to 1498. In the 1600s, Gammalrud became a manor when the first corp de logi was built by Thord Jönsson Reuterberg. In the 1800s, Gammalrud became part of the Swedish industrial history by one of the owners, Theodor Winborg, also known as “Ättikskungen” , the founder of Winborg´s vinegar and later by his brother in law, Helge Palmqrantz, an inventor and industrialist with machine factories in Stockholm. Both agricultural tools and weapons were made there. A machine gun, designed by Helge Palmqrantz to be part of the defense on Karlsborgs fortress, can be seen at the fortress museum.

Take a morning swim in the lake or sit and cozy in front of the wood stove. At the lake, there is also a wood-fired sauna that you can use freely for a fee. Close to padel courts, tennis courts, miniature golf. No pets are allowed. Sheets/towels are included, but can be rented for 100 SEK/person. Events/parties are not allowed. Proximity to fantastic Tivedens National Park and fishing just 100 meters from the house. Incredibly beautiful view of Lake Viken. Endless with hiking areas just outside the house or why not borrow the two bikes that are at your disposal and bike down to the ice cream kiosk at Göta Canal.

Welcome to Kärnebäcken. The house is located undisturbed on a cape in Bottensjön, with both morning and eveningssol. Here you can see the canal boats from Vättern on the way up in Göta Canal. Only 2 km bike path into Sweden's reserve capital Karlsborg, with Ida's pier and Karlsborg fortress that attracts. With the car, it takes about 20 minutes to Tiveden National Park with hiking trails and amazing nature. The house is 110 sqm and fully equipped. Great WiFi. An oasis!

Welcome to our little summer paradise. For many years we have had this cabin as our "breathing hole". Nowadays we are pensioners and live at the farm from which this plot was cut off. The cottage is located by the lake Viken, its own jetty, small rowing boat and raft are included. A guest cottage with several beds and equally nice views is also available. Private shallow beach with beautiful sunset. We live 4 km from cottage.

Here, up to 6 adults live next door to the sheep pasture and forest and are welcomed by the farm's both sociable herding dogs. In the sheep farm with its own farm shop, you are close to the forest and lake. Tivedens National Park, Karlsborg Fortress, Göta Canal, Forsviks Bruk, etc., are some of the sights within a 30 minute drive.

Lovely cozy swedisch home with all the comfort you need. The location is very private, has lots of outdoor chill options as well as a cozy inside. The little old woodburning stove it amazing to cook on an the kitchen is well equipped. The host is lovely and really nice and has a eye for detail. We booked with only two hours in advance and still there was a little flower bouquet outside and some sweets waiting for us inside. Very welcoming! We would love to come back someday!
