Family-friendly holiday rentals in Buena Vista

The Inn was the best place to prepare for and stay during our daughter’s wedding weekend. We had everything we needed; the house was beautiful and clean; the beds were comfy. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and around the fire after the festivities. We received 20% off the brewery restaurant and the food was extremely tasty. We highly recommend the Inn!

My family and I loved this air bnb! It was private, clean and had everything that we needed. Loved the fire pit and the hot tub, beds were comfy and towels were soft. Great communication with the owners. If you are looking for a nice get away with lots of privacy and to be able to relax this place is it! If we are ever in the area again would love to stay in this beautiful cabin in the woods.

Stayed here for a bachelorette party. The house was perfect for our group. Bev was so nice and helpful - anything we needed she helped us out! The location is also great if you’re wanting to do a bit of everything - wineries, downtown shopping and dining out, breweries, etc! The yard is amazing and it feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere when you’re outside on the deck. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay here! It is quiet, peaceful and has a beautiful river flowing behind the house with a tree swing. We enjoyed our coffee on the screened-in porch watching the ducks swim around in the river with their babies. If you have a student at W&L or VMI, this is a perfect location! Our daughter just graduated from W&L. I wish I would have discovered this gem sooner!

This place was exactly what we needed to get away for the weekend. Elise went above and beyond with her list of nearby recommendations and property details. We met her twice and she was so kind, and we were lucky to meet her sweet dog George and sweet barn cat Mosby. We cannot wait to come back!

My family and I were looking for a place away from the fast pace and noise of our day to day routine and this place did not disappoint. With the lovely river running right out front, a beautiful waterfall trail literally next door, the fun pool, and relaxing jacuzzi we never had a dull moment. The place was a great size where we can enjoy family time but also have our personal space to unwind. If you are thinking of booking, don’t think just do it because it was truly amazing!

We had a wonderful stay at The Barn and would come back again in a heartbeat! Dawn and Damond were friendly, approachable, and provided all kinds of local recommendations during our visit. Their apartment was spotless, light, and equipped with just about everything one could need. We'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, especially small families with children. My boyfriend and I came out here looking for a place to disconnect and Heartrock was the perfect place! Greg gave us a great hiking recommendation to Fortune’s Cove and Kim was so helpful and responsive. The place was so nice and the scenery was lovely. Bilbo the cat was even more friendly than we imagined and we enjoyed hanging with him. We did prep our own breakfast and dinner before arriving just due to the smaller kitchen but it had everything we needed. We took a stroll around the property and it was lovely. The water pressure here is also great. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful stay! The hosts were incredibly nice, responsive, and personable; they made us feel genuinely welcomed from the start. Communication was easy, and they were quick to respond to any questions we had. The space was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. You can tell they really care about their guests. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place with a personal touch!

Words cannot describe the feeling of pure calm that comes over you when you arrive. This place is truly a treasure hidden in the woods. Once you cross the creek you leave the world and all your cares behind. The host pays attention to all the little details and it shows. We have stayed at quite a few places but this one is on our return list. We look forward to sliding up for a long weekend in the late fall or early winter. (Tip- be sure to spend 15 min reading the welcome package it is time well spent).

Danielle was an amazing host, very responsive and gave us excellent information about the area. Her home was perfect for my husband and I and our dogs. The fully fenced yard was a great place to hang out and let the dogs run around. The house has a spacious and well stocked kitchen and the living area provided a cozy space for us to hang out. We would love to stay there next time we are in town.

The weekend was just what we wanted, it was beautiful, private and relaxing. Claudia had the place ready early. It had everything we needed. I would visit again.

I’d argue that this is one of the best places to stay in Wintergreen. The cabin itself is perfect. We are a young family and it was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The location is also perfect. It is very close to all the attractions on the resort. Clay was a great host as well. The perfect amount of communication; engaged without being intrusive. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be sure their trip is easy and successful!

We loved our stay at this condo in Wintergreen. The condo was beautifully furnished. Very clean. And the views from the balcony are unbelievable. Since it was spring, it was very quiet which we enjoyed. The mountains were so lush and green. The host responded to any questions within minutes. Check out was a breeze. We will be booking again!

Staying with Mr Jane was a pleasure. The location was perfect, the apartment was cozy and spotless. The place was well-equipped and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. This is a peaceful downstairs apartment with private entry and beautiful backyard with swimming pool. Mrs Jane was always available to answer our questions. unforgettable experience! My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. My husband took our kids (ages 10 and 7) fishing on the property, which they absolutely loved. We spent time swimming in the pool and hiking the beautiful surroundings. We also visited the nearby Virginia Safari Park and Natural Bridge Park—both were wonderful day trips. The host was fantastic, and the property was peaceful and relaxing. We’d love to come back!

John and Ritta were amazing to work with and so helpful. We found their cozy condo after a trip fell through. We were so glad to have found this amazing place in close proximity to hiking spots, good food, wineries and breweries. We will definitely be back.

This mountain home was perfect for our ski getaway--we especially loved the separate downstairs living area (the kids spent hours playing air hockey). There were tons of great perks as the host seemed to think of everything: board games & puzzles, ski locker, snow shovel & salt for the driveway, toiletries in each bathroom, extra blankets, fireplace, boot rug/rack, etc. Plus it was an easy 2 mile drive to the ski resort.
