Barn holiday rentals in East Sussex

My wife and I stayed for a few nights as a peaceful getaway, and the property was amazing and perfect. Roz was very proactive in sending us instructions prior to our visit, and was very responsive to any questions or queries we had. She is based on-site and so was easily contactable when we needed. She is a very flexible and accommodating host who resolved any questions or issues we ran into during our stay (including running out of tea!), and directed us to nice places to eat. The property is a quaint cottage-like place that is super cosy and has all the amenities we needed, including a space to park right outside. The place was very clean and organised, and had a really nice atmosphere especially when the sun was shining. The dogs Coco and Molly were also so friendly and adorable! Molly came round one evening for a pets and scratches session. Highly recommended and will definitely be trying to come back again.

We had a fabulous stay at Sara’s place and felt right at home from the minute we arrived. It was a great location for short distance driving to Knockhatch Adventure Park and also to get into Hastings for the day. The attention to detail in The Stables was just lovely - everything has been carefully thought about and parking right outside too. The beds were super comfy and we wish we could’ve have stayed longer. Sara and Simon were great hosts - we couldn’t recommend highly enough!!

Pretty, cosy cottage in a small nest of converted, wood-clad farm buildings off the beaten track in deepest Sussex. Compact-but-cute bedrooms, attractive living area with sofas and well-equipped kitchen, small gardens front and rear. Local pubs a short drive away. Communication was excellent and speedy. A great home for a family get- together for 8 people. Lots of space, great value, well equipped, great barbecue. Mind your head on the low beams?

What can I say! Hilary’s home was just beautiful. Pristinely clean, comfortable and appointed with high quality amenities. Hilary went to great effort to ensure we had everything needed for a perfect stay, right down to some fresh milk to ensure a cup of tea or coffee on arrival would not be lacking. This was the perfect country escape within sumptuous garden surroundings and vistas. All within a short drive or walk to some fabulous pubs, and the pretty towns of Battle and Rye. I wish we could have stayed longer…

We are so glad we found this absolute Gem ! It was perfect for our weekend of calm with our pooch Louie . As well as a fantastic welcome from Viv we were greeted by both of her gorgeous dogs and a choir of happy birds. On the first morning , whilst contemplating the feast that Viv had modestly called breakfast provisions we saw lots of rabbits roaming right in front of the Cabin. Lots of lovely walks nearby and we had a fabulous Sunday roast at the Six Bells - a five minute drive away . A genuine getaway from it all - perfect

Great house in the heart of the countryside close to Lewes and the South Downs. Bright and airy cottage with a wonderful private garden.

Great weekend away and would definitely go back there. Bridget was very helpful and made sure we were very comfortable. The place was amazing and very clean.

Our family had a wonderful few days at the gorgeous Oast House property. Stunning setting with views across the fields. Local walks were great and maps available, along with local attractions all close by. Heather prepared an amazing meal for us which was well worth the money and the property had everything we needed for a peaceful and enjoyable few days away from the big smoke. The guest book in the property says it all about what a fantastic place this is. Highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

We had the most wonderful stay at Lotties! Everything was perfect and we hope to return in the future. The beds were a great size and extremely comfortable, super showers , everything you could need in the kitchen. Everything was top notch and the setting incredibly peaceful. Lottie and Richard were excellent hosts! Thanks for having us!

We had a lovely time in this home away from home. The decor and finishing touches really put this Airbnb above many others I’ve stayed in. Small touches and great quality cooking utensils and crockery (small thing I know but lots of places you have nothing decent to cook with and here it was like being in my own kitchen). The actual area itself is beautiful and we were lucky to have the sheep right outside the back garden making a lovely view to see every day. Charlotte the host was very helpful and able to answer any questions during our stay. Would recommend making the 40 minute drive to Port Lympne safari park if you are in the area for a great day out for the family. 10/10 stay, would love to come back. The only thing that would make this trip better is being able to take the lamp collection home with me 😍 Thanks again Charlotte!

This place exceeded our expectations and was even better than the pictures. Could be tricky to spot the entrance from the road, but the instructions were clear. Key box was easy to use. We immediately felt at home. The beds were really comfortable with lovely clean linen and fresh towels. The upstairs was stunning and photos cannot do it justice. The whole barn conversion was done to such a high standard. It was a warm weekend so we did not need to use the heat pump heating, but I can imagine it’s very effective. Eating out on the Friday night, we really liked “Jumeria” Indian restaurant in Cranbrook (note: town has free parking) and “The George” (lovely Haddock and Chips) on Saturday night. We visited the nearby Hartley farm shop (wow what a place, all the food looked stunning) and Sissinghurst House & Gardens which was an absolutely lovely National Trust place nearby and we ate afterwards at the “Rose and Crown” at Pluckley (superb Sunday Roast). The Parlour was a lovely find. Situated in a peaceful location with a beautiful view across the fields (with Cows). Lovely walks through woodland, the entrance of which is situated across the courtyard. We would highly recommend this AirBnB.

My family and I had a delightful stay. Joanna was the warmest host and we loved our long weekend in the beautiful barn conversion, complete with log burner fire, comfortable amenities and all set in very beautiful rural surroundings. Perfect, peaceful venue for a relaxing break. Totally enclosed and private. Beautiful barn, well stocked with all we needed. Hot tub was just wonderful. Would thoroughly recommend.

A cozy cottage near the stunning South Downs and Sussex coast. Our five-year-old had a very comfy stay, and we were just as comfortable. The location is perfect, with lots to see and do nearby — from countryside walks to charming villages. Katie was an excellent host, incredibly helpful and provided us with some wonderful local recommendations. A wonderful spot for both relaxing and exploring ⸻ Would you like a few alternatives for slightly different tones (like a bit warmer or even more polished)?

This place is a fabulous, just what we needed for a long weekend away. Convenient to get to many surrounding places. Immaculate, clean accomodation and the provisions at check-in were a very welcome gesture. Nicole is a great host.

What a gem we discovered in the Cow Shed. An imaginative conversion with well considered furnishings and quality equipment. Perfect for honeymoon couples.

This was our second visit to ‘the cabin in the woods’ as my children like to call it. You immediately feel at home, it’s so peaceful and there’s everything you need to help you settle in. From fresh eggs from the chickens to cooking breakfast on the fire, a public footpath leading to woods and fields right on the doorstep and lovely toiletries in the large shower - we will return again. Thank you for giving us a few days off the hamster wheel in your lovely lodging

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - location suitable for our dog as very peaceful rural setting. The kitchen was also well stocked and the lounge comfortable. Also ideally situated to visit local National Trust properties in this part of Kent - information regarding local pubs shops etc very helpful - we would consider returning .

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay, we felt right at home. Dee and Jeff were exceptional hosts, very friendly and welcoming. They really do go the extra mile, as all the reviews say - to ensure we have a pleasant stay. The barn was everything I expected and more, you could see there were so many nice personal touches and preparation that went into making our stay as amazing as it was - from the complimentary breakfast (locally sourced), to the mobile charger and bottles of water by the bedside. Also, loved having access to Netflix and Prime! Will absolutely recommend and stay again, maybe in the Autumn/Winter time to take advantage of the log burner and fire pit outside!

Our second stay at Victoria’s was just as comfortable as last time - a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and good bathrooms. It is also ideal for anyone with mobility issues given the spacious layout all on one floor. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow much time in the garden, but that can’t be helped! A nearby Morrisons is handy for basic shopping, with a large Lidl not far away. 30 mins by car to Glyndebourne. We would certainly recommend the Barn and hope to return ourselves again in future. Oh yes, and we enjoyed the welcome cake!
