Holiday rentals with a kayak in Gloucester County

Stayed with a toddler and a crawler in June. Leaving this review specifically for parents looking for the information I was looking for when we booked. The area is very nice/private, the water is shallow and perfect for littles! Water shoes are recommended as stated. The beach area is right outside the backyard, keep in mind this is a river and not the ocean so there are many bugs! For light sleepers there's also frogs in June. Our kids absolutely loved the water, there's sand to play in too, might have to clear an area from sea grass. Very little waves. The area/house is about 15 mins from anything so keep that in mind. We were thinking there would be more local restaurants and less chains but not really the case, at least not within 30 mins. We did a little more cooking than we hoped for, which the stove is touchy: front Lt burner is immediately hot, rt burner is barely working. Booster seat there in case you forget. Great home though, nice neighbors!

My children and grandchildren spent 7 days at this property and had an amazing time. The property is gorgeous and is just as the pictures and description states it is. The property is very private and peaceful surrounded by water and nature. My family enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and kayaking. Great communication with Tamara before, during, and after our visit. I highly recommend visiting!!

Our family absolutely loved the tranquility of being right on the water, the home was decorated perfectly and very clean. This is a true gem in Deltaville!

We loved the private, short walk to the beach. We spent two days exploring the area, and both mornings/evenings we made sure we walked down the path to see it. The house was clean, and we knew what to expect with the water because of the other reviews and Brad’s write up. It was a quick trip, but staying here added to the experience! Would recommend and stay here again!

Everything about this place was perfect. It was spotlessly clean and had every amenity possible. The grounds and river views were simply magnificent. Our only regret was that we couldn’t have stayed at least one more day. We would love to book again - maybe next year.

We had a two night stay at this beautiful house. Everything was nice and clean. We loved sitting on the deck, overlooking the river. It was a perfect place to drink our morning coffee!

Perfect location and place! We enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. Our 8 year old loved the swing, his room, and exploring. We rode bikes, fished at the dock a couple houses down, he kayaked, and swam around the dock. Haven was a short drive away, as was town. We enjoy visiting Mathews, and this house made the trip even better. We hope to come back!

This was an amazing trip. We are going to make this a yearly trip. It was private and peaceful. It stormed a little bit but that was nice to watch out of the bedroom upstairs or on the screened in porches. We both really enjoyed the house!

This was our 1st visit to The Crab Shack. All I can say is Wow, just Wow! This was the cleanest, nicest and cutest Airbnb that we have ever stayed at over the years! It was amazing! My husband and I traveled from Sarver, PA with our 2 Golden Retrievers to celebrate our 10 year Wedding Anniversary! We all had the best time ever! We spent most of the time here at the Shack just cooking on the grill and listening to music and the girls did a lot of swimming fetching for balls! Thank you Carlisle and Mary for making our 10 year Anniversary simply perfect! ❤️☀️😎🥂🍾🦀 We can’t wait to come back! ☺️

Joyce has done a phenomenal job with this lake house. Everything has been thought through. The house actually looks even better than the pictures. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. And it is super clean. The kitchen is fully stacked with everything you would need ant home or away. Ample seasoned fire wood and starter sticks makes using their MASSIVE fire pit a breeze. The best part is she gives you access to both of their docks and you will not have to take your boat or kayak out of the water once. We kayak fished Johnson’s and Lacey’s with ease from her house. 100% coming back to stay again.

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time and the home played a big part in this. I was so impressed with all the extras that I just never see in other homes. The house is so cozy and such a beautiful location. Just perfect for relaxation. We will definitely want to come back. Thank you Cornelia for opening up your home to us.

If you are looking for a beautiful and peaceful location to unwind, this is a great place! The home is very comfortable and has everything you could need. But the highlight was the amazing views of the bay from practically every window in the house. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Loved staying at this quiet retreat! Mornings listening to birds, afternoons in the sunny backyard, stars and stars! Really loved this place and will be back again.

We had a wonderful experience. the skylight filled the main room with natural light and the cookware was sufficient for us to prepare steak salad and salad with grilled chicken. we did not take advantage of the kayaks, but the golf cart gave us a day to relax and stay local. We caught a marvelous sunrise and sunset from the mini pier and watched a summer thunderstorm go across the river. In all, it was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend the Little Dipper.

This is such a cute cottage! It really has all you need for a couple or small family. Lots of amenities with the game room, bikes, and kayaks! Wonderful stay, right on creek, and you can see Bay through the houses.

We enjoyed our stay here. Very quiet area, nice comfortable space. The gravel road leading in (maybe a half-mile long) and driveway gave us a good area for morning and evening dog walks. We did not end up doing any fishing but the pond looked like a great place for kayak fishing. Not specific to the house but in the area: Rita's Cafe in Weems was great (food truck on a small road)--Chef Craige usually has a special and some regular menu items. Leadbellys (at Fairport Marina) had good oysters and hush puppies and was convenient for our first night. River Market in White Stone has good food to be ordered at the rear counter and prepared items in the coolers. Out of the Oven Bakery (White Stone) had great bread Miss Mary's seafood, also in White Stone had great fresh fish and prepared items. The three places in White Stone are very close to each other so convenient when running out.

We are two families that met up for a relaxing getaway after celebrating a high school graduation. This was the perfect place. The downstairs had lots of games and a big screen for them to hook their switch up to. We watched movies upstairs. And use the well-equipped kitchen each night to make a big dinner. The kids took the kayaks and canoe out one afternoon as well. Although I would say they definitely wouldn’t swim there. Compass entertainment complex is very close and they enjoyed their time there. We also went to a movie there one night. It is a beautiful home in a peaceful setting. Especially down on the dock at night. It was very quiet. We would definitely recommend this home.

We piled 5 adults and a toddler into the house on Kelley Neck Drive, and it worked just fine! Bathrooms, AC, kitchen, appliances, etc, all worked perfectly, the furniture was comfortable and in good shape, and the house was spacious. The yard was perfect for us, but might have been small for older kids, and I wish there had been more than one kayak (but even one kayak was a bonus!) The heron was fishing at the mouth of the our private lagoon every morning, and an osprey and eagle visited as well. We barely heard any neighbors, and the nights were quiet and peaceful. Thank you!

We loved this cabin, and Caleb was such a gracious host! Arriving to a dozen farm fresh eggs was such a treat. We grabbed some bacon (Smithfield brand, of course) at the local Kroger and had eggs and bacon every day of our trip. The cabin is so quite and peaceful. It literally feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but it's a 5 minute drive to all kinds of shops and activities. The povided kayaks were a major selling point for us. It was a very relaxing and beginner friendly paddle up the creek to the river. We saw all kinds of wildlife including otters playing in the creek! It is true that the hot tub is a little glitchy, but it was plenty warm and didn't impact our enjoyment of it at all. Caleb was kind enough to stack wood in the fire pit for us, making our evening campfire easy and streamline. The cabin is really close to great hiking, boutique and antique shops, the brewery, winery and restaurants. I wish we would have taken him up on the offer to bring our dogs. Next time!

Great place! We really enjoyed all of the outdoor amenities. The kayaks, paddle boards, fishing, hot tub, hammocks were all great. Have two teens who very much enjoyed. Was relaxing but a lot to do there also. Lots of jellyfish so we did not swim at all. Definitely a lot of fish and crabs that can be caught right at the dock. If more serious and knowledgeable about fishing then us, may want to bring extra hooks and tackle box. Definitely some size-able fish. Bait shop in town has a lot of supplies but very limited hours. The house had tons of towels, washcloths, etc. which was nice. Kitchen had oil, spices, plenty of cooking utensils, pots / pans, dinnerware etc. Blackstone was nice. Made it very easy to cook. Very few restaurants open M-F. Of those that were, most closed by about 3. Newsome’s was a great local place for lunch. Crab cakes were outstanding. Definitely would stay again. Had a great time!

Justin is by far the best host I've had and I've been doing this a long time! he gave the most detailed instructions on everything, where to eat, vets, grocery stores, other things to do! They were really flexible with check in and out times, which is rare. The home is exactly as described with the most amazing views! The water was clear with soft sand on your own little piece of paradise! We kayaked, and used the paddle boards, and even the green mat which was a fun surprise I didn't know I needed! What a great place, we'll definitely be back! Highly recommend! Thanks Justin!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin and property are absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the birds and being surrounded by nature and wildlife is priceless. We spent our days outdoors fishing and finished our evening’s playing games inside. James is a great host who is very responsive. If you’re looking to make memories, this is where to do it!

Beautiful, secluded, and peaceful retreat! Kathryn and Ryan were communicative and proactive in ensuring we had everything we needed. Of course they had already thought of everything, and there were clear instructions on how to use everything in the cabin and on the property. Only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Looking forward to coming back soon.
