Although it's a rustic homage to the lumberjacks and jills of yesteryear, this cabin includes many of the comforts we now enjoy including a queen bed, kitchenette with fridge, hot water, AC/heat, a Keurig coffeemaker, smart TV and charcoal grill. It's on 40 private, tranquil acres (no neighbors!) with great access to all the Hayward-Cable area has to offer. It's small - intended for two adults, with the option of 2 addtl kids. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Sit on the patio and watch the lake, loons and geese. Bring your boat or rent one and go fishing, or just fish from the dock. We have excellent restaurants near, or grill something on the gas grill. We have some puzzles and games for those rainy days, and lots of books. We have starlink and a cell phone booster to keep you connected if needed. If you want to explore downtown Hayward with its unique shops, it is a short drive (18 minutes).

Our small resort is reminiscent of the gems that are largely gone in the Northwoods. A quiet, peaceful cabin on the shore of a sportsmen's lake. Barker Lake is a 240 acre lake set in the National Forest. Wildlife is more plentiful than people. Just 25 min southeast of Hayward gets you to the tourist action if you want it. A 14' rowboat comes with the cabin and motor can be rented. The lake is a class A musky lake with smallmouth and various panfish. Kayaks are available free of charge.

This property was perfect and checked all the boxes for our trip. The listing and description matched what they offered. This property was clean, organized and offered lots. The space was great for a larger group of people. We also had a beautiful view of the lake and easy access to get on and off the lake. I would recommend his place to anyone else and would also book here again if we choose to vacation in Hayward again. Thank you for the host for letting us stay here at their beautiful home.

The pictures do not do this place justice, it is so nice!! They've upgraded some things and moved stuff around for a great living space. It's right on the water and so peaceful. I was concerned about the door situation but it was totally fine and everyone in our group felt like we had enough privacy. We can't wait to stay here again since we have friends in the area!!

Great place, double check the GPS directions AirBnB gives, especially if you are arriving in the dark, but once we got there it was convenient and comfortable and had everything we needed.

Lake Front, Arcade, Kayaks-Callahan's Shore Thing

My husband and I loved our stay. The view from the living room is BEAUTIFUL. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the dock. At the cabin, there is so much to do. We took advantage of the kayaks, grill, fire pit, and game garage all on site and worked as listed. There is a lot of wild life at the cabin, we enjoyed keeping track of a few animals that lived near by. Down town Hayward is a 20 minute drive where we parked and walked to gift shops and tried a few different restaurants. Kristin was a fantastic host and was very fast to respond and answer my questions. Can’t recommend this stay more!! We’ll be back!! :)
