Absolutely loved staying at Sheenah's, the perfect spot for a solo dive weekend. This was a safe, cosy and gorgeous studio and I can't wait to come back.

Enjoyed our stay, loads to do in the area, went to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, a must. The Te Kongahu museum explained the process and difficulties of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Also spent a great day sailing around the bay with Carino on an Island & wildlife day cruise. Saw a pod of dolphins, rays, gannets and cormorants. Also snorkelled, walked up to an Island view point of the bay and had a BBQ highly recommend this tour if you want a gentler way to see the bay. Swiss Chalet was perfectly situated for all the fine restaurants, we managed a cloths wash with our rooms own washing machine and enjoyed the luxury of the air conditioning as the beginning of autumn was spectacularly warm

An absolute dream house! Stunning apartment with a gorgeous view. You definitely feel like spending a holiday with style :) Breakfast at Seaside restaurant are mind blowing! Best coffee in town. Plus! You get a discount :) We had the best time there. Will definitely recommend and we will repeat! Thanks!

Absolutely stunning Airbnb, one of if not the best we’ve ever stayed in (we’re doing a round the world trip so have stayed in a lot by now)! It was absolutely pristine, we felt like we were checking into a 5* hotel with the quality of the beds, linens, towels etc. It is genuinely nicer than the photos and more spacious, and it was so appreciated that Anita had some provisions and snacks like milk, chocolates, crisps and fruit there for us when we arrived. Anita is lovely and so friendly! She kindly greeted us at check in, showed us around and how everything works, and gave us some fantastic local recommendations which we did and thoroughly enjoyed, in particular the coastal trail to Paihia and getting the car ferry across the bay to go to Russell. The views over the bay, watching the boats come and go, are stunning. We didn’t use the BBQ that’s on the balcony but would have if we’d stayed longer, which I wish we had! Overall we couldn’t fault this place, and HIGHLY recommend staying

The Boathouse was in pristine condition and the view is stunning. We also loved watching the ferries come and go just outside. Beautiful run to Paihia and a walk back. Recommend The Blue Door in Paihia for breakfast.

This was the most lovely accommodation! It was clean, well-appointed, and had the most beautiful view of the Bay. Wendy communicated well, and provided easy instructions for entry into the car park, and from there, into the apartment. Our two night stay was extremely quiet, which we expected, given it's not the high season, yet there was still enough going on about town that we never wanted for something to do! The location was absolutely ideal, as all businesses were within very easy, close-in walking distance. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer, and we'll definitely look to return!

The place looks right out on the beach and is an absolutely stunning view. Very easy to walk to the beach. The bed was comfy and the place was clean. Jane was very good at giving instructions to find the place and the key. She was friendly and if I had any issues I knew I would be able to ask her for help. 10/10 stay!

Although I was only there one night I enjoyed my stay. it has a lovely view of the sea and the place is clean and comfortable. Laura is a helpful, friendly host. I would happily stay there again.

Great stay at this beachfront property! The location is unbeatable—just steps from the water, making it easy to enjoy the ocean. The home was clean, well-kept, and had mostly everything needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were especially great—super comfortable for a restful night’s sleep. Check-in was smooth, and the host was responsive and helpful with local recommendations. Overall, a great spot for a beachside getaway. Would definitely stay again!

We could not recommend Katharine’s place enough! It is one of the best airbnbs we have stayed at. We were absolutely stunned by the breathtaking views of Matauri Bay - that you can see from nearly every angle of the home. The home is beautifully furnished inside and out and has everything you need and more. The peace, quiet and privacy of the home make it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. We really enjoyed the ease of access to the beach and the well thought out features of the home such as the outdoor shower. Katharine was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.

It is a fabulous place to stay for families and the additional equipment that they have for the families to use is amazing. The setting is glorious and outlook is stunning. The Bay its self is very safe for children to undertake water activities. The hosts were lovely and went above and beyond with additional options for linen because of the rainy weather conditions. We would have no hesitation in booking to stay again.

Lovely place to stay. Very well equipped. Great for family group of 3 generations. Great views from all rooms and always something happening on estuary. Pool table, spa , pizza oven and kayaks provided great variety of options. Highly recommend

The house is super new and super clean — seriously, everything’s spotless. The only small issue is there’s no sink in the kitchen, so I had to wash dishes in the bathroom. But location-wise it’s great — only about 70 km from Cape Reinga. The host is lovely, very friendly and helpful.

We booked Carolyn's Beachside Bach based on the photographs - having never been to Whangaumu Bay - and it far exceeded our expectations. The home has been in the family since it was built in the 1970's, and it contains a lifetime of love, looking out over a beach which most people can only dream of. In a few steps, you are on the sand, with gorgeous headlands to East and West and a mesmerising view over the Bay. The beach is sheltered from most ocean swell, making it a very safe place to swim. For those - like us - who enjoy walking - there are delicious empty beaches an easy walk over the headland to the West, and breathtakingly beautiful rocks and coves to explore at low tide to the East. The house is original but very comfortable, and well equipped. Carolyn is a great host - very fast and helpful in response to all queries. We hope some day to return. Dave and Meg :)
