I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

Meticulously restored to its former glory while being fitted with the most modern amenities, our house is one of the finest remaining examples of the particular Taisho era architecture of the 1920's. Located 12-15 mn by foot from Kyoto station, 350m west of the UNESCO world heritage site of Toji temple and 2,500 Sqft in size, a total of 6 guests can be accommodated in 4 bedrooms, complemented by 2 bathrooms, 2 WC, 2 Japanese gardens.

The garden follows Japanese philosophy of seasons, with sakura blossom in spring, little pond surrounded by greens in summer, red maple in autumn, and snow on Japanese black pine in winter. It embraces the beautiful pace of nature in traditional lifestyle with the comfort of luxurious modern facilities.

Tsubara was 100y old Machiya, we lovely restored all possible to original style using antique fittings & materials by traditional craftsmanship. We love Tsubara, we hope the guests too! Located in the heart of Kyoto, we are just a 7-minute walk from the Imperial Palace and Imadegawa Station (K06), with Kyoto Station only 10 minutes away by subway. We offer four bicycles free of charge for you to explore the charming backstreets that buses cannot reach. Additionally, for long stay guests , we provide a complimentary shuttle service to or from Kyoto Station upon request.
