Machiya hotel YANAGI ― Akatsuki ―

LindaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
A beautiful, cozy cottage that matches the photos. The courtyard was very nice to be able to sit outside for a while. The only thing we found less appealing was the open sleeping areas upstairs, which gave a slightly less private feeling. Keep this in mind if you are traveling with multiple couples. Furthermore, a very nice experience and a top restaurant nearby: Sai Ramen. It is around the corner and it was the best meal we ate in Japan!

I had a wonderful time with Yoriko and her Dad . She is the sweetes host I ever got to know . We cooked together, worked at the rice field, did garden work and she never got tired of showing me the area . The house is a beautiful quiet historical place and I had good night rest while listening to the river . We went for glass craft and had some little funny adventure . Yoriko the house and her Dad will always have a special place in my heart

Save 30% - An Relaxing STAY in Kyoto Countryside

Todd & EvaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
A perfect blend of tranquility, nature, and genuine hospitality. Unparalleled sleep quality, with a comfortable mattress and the soothing nighttime chorus of frogs creating a serene ambiance. The cozy interiors offered a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort, even accommodating a functional workspace for remote tasks. Despite its rural setting, the location is conveniently close to local amenities, including the delightful Yumiya restaurant, run by a charming couple serving delicious local cuisine. The hosts were outstanding—quiet, respectful, and deeply knowledgeable about the region. One, being a seasoned triathlete, provided invaluable insights into the area's top cycling routes, running trails, and swimming spots. For cycling enthusiasts, the nearby Kyoto-Tamba Cycle Route offers scenic rides through the Tamba region, known for its beautiful landscapes and traditional villages. Nature lovers can explore the Rurikei Gorge Walk. This stay was a highlight!

Japanese-style charm with convenienttransportation

JusticeRating, 5 stars6 days ago
This townhome was ideal for our group of 7 traveling around the Kansai region. The open common area gave us plenty of space to gather and plan our daily adventures to Kobe, Kyoto, Nara, and throughout Osaka. The location couldn’t have been better - being right next to the main train station made all our day trips incredibly convenient and saved us so much time getting around. The property itself was well-maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only minor note is that it can get a bit noisy at night due to the central location, but it’s really not bad and the convenience of being so close to transportation far outweighs this small consideration. Would definitely recommend this place to other groups looking for a well-located base to explore Osaka and the surrounding areas. The host was great and the space worked perfectly for our needs!

Designer Remodeled Kyoto Town House | Two Bedroom + View Bath Tucked away in Jing Lane

Our stay at Icy's apartment for two nights was absolutely fantastic! The apartment itself is stunning – it's clear everything is brand new, with beautiful furnishings and a really fancy, modern design that made us feel like we were in a high-end boutique hotel. Beyond the aesthetics, the location couldn't be better. We loved being within easy 15 minutes walking distance of all the major tourist spots, and the surrounding area was so nice and comfortable to explore. What truly made our trip exceptional was Icy, who was an incredibly helpful and responsive host. We felt so at home from the moment we arrived. Highly, highly recommend!

25 minutes from Kayabuki no Sato. This is a house in a quiet mountain village dotted with thatched houses. You can enjoy it in every season

First of all, I would like to particularly mention that both the hosts were tremendously accommodating. They were so helpful and friendly. They even went beyond their way and offer us their personal sake for dinner! The accommodation was very quiet and peaceful. Just the right location to get away from the bustling cities and crowds. Will definitely return!

115-year-old Luxurious traditional Japanese house

Wing Yee AmyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
If you're seeking an authentic Kyoto experience, this 110yo house is a must-visit. It offers a unique and charming atmosphere in the beautiful countryside of Miyama. Built during the Showa era, the house has survived significant historical events. Taru and Tina warmly welcomed us and shared fascinating stories about the home. The traditional garden view and the lovingly curated interiors make it feel like a living museum. The bathroom, featuring both indoor and outdoor hot springs, was a highlight, providing a luxurious bathing experience. In the evening, we enjoyed homemade aperitifs and Hokkaido octopus sashimi, followed by sukiyaki cooked in a vintage iron pot with local ingredients. Breakfast overlooking the garden was delightful, and we even spotted cherry blossoms nearby. The peaceful surroundings allowed us to fully relax and appreciate the beauty. For a truly luxurious experience, stay in this historic gem when you visit Kyoto!
