The Gator Getaway is the perfect escape from reality located in the swampy town of Manchac, Louisiana. It is the ideal place for a stay near the water with no boat required! The historic building was the original Church of Manchac and was remodeled into a home. Located within walking distance to the famous Middendorf's Restaurant! Please read detailed description of property before booking. Set in a 22 acre parcel on the Natalbany River 6.5 miles from downtown Hammond. Enjoy nature with a walk along the trail from house to river. This building has been built with mostly reclaimed, reused and upcycled materials. The rustic interior walls are clad in huge boards milled on the property after Katrina damage. Note the unusual shower with handmade tiles. There are other unique structures on property.

Beautiful moss covered live oaks surround front deck and waterfront deck in back with views of Bayou Castine and Lake Pontchartrain. Connect to the Tammany Trace by way of a bike path that is located in front of our property. Mandeville Trailhead is 1.2 miles away and has bike rentals, farmers market on Saturdays and free spring and fall concerts. New Orleans is just 45 minutes away.

For two guests, you'll find the coziest queen bed and a rain shower in a rustic tub. Our quaint little nature cranny is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.
