Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Midlothian

A brilliant place to stay as a small family. It’s not slap bang in Edinburgh but all the better for it: blissfully quiet (you really cannot hear the airport), a genuinely beautiful garden to relax in, but just 5 minutes drive from the free park and ride, which is 20 minutes into central Edinburgh. And made all the better by hosting from Robert, who was super friendly, a genuine pleasure to chat to, but without being at all intrusive. Would firmly recommend.

Really wonderful stay. The house was brilliant and Dave was a super responsive and helpful host, answering questions and accommodating last minute changes. The surrounding area was stunning, would strongly recommend.

The East Wing of Islay House was very spacious and comfy. It was clean and tidy and did not lack any amenities. Sandra provided firewood for the fireplace and plenty of local information. The village of Pencaitland is quiet an peaceful with a shop/petrol station within walking distance and lots of short walks. There were lots of longer walks within 12-30 mins, including those in Edinburgh. Even better if: queen or king bed instead of double bed, description and external photos more accurately reflect that the accommodation is part of a larger house, and it is made clear whether or not both sets of gates can be shut to provide a full secured outside space for dogs. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend :).

A lovely house, very relaxing after a long day out. Finding a property with parking is very hard so this house having a driveway for 2 cars was amazing. If we are back in the area again we will definitely stay here. Thank you for hosting us.

What a wonderful stay! Well stocked kitchen instruments for cooking at home, comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms with great water pressure and temp! Lovely area - I took a run to the park by the battalion which led to a run to the reservoir! Beautiful, didn’t want to leave!

Lovely modern spacious house, we felt at home. Residential area close to shopping, walking and easy access to Edinburgh and our family in Biggar. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay at Rhona's place, can't forget Brian both very warm and so helpful. We didn't need heating but they put it on for my wife. Perfect spot not too far from the city, only 20 mins walk or 2 busses takes you anywhere, on your doorstep and only £5 for the whole day. Saved the best for last I loved the sitting out on the balcony, nothing beats long day walking out and about and enjoy a beer or three.

We stayed in Sarah's home over the holidays for a family reunion. Sarah's house is all one would hope for a home away from home. After a long and tiring transatlantic flight, we found a welcoming and charming place waiting for us. The house is spacious and very tastefully renovated with lots of character. We truly enjoyed congregating around the large kitchen and dining table. There is a nice outdoor space which we didn't have much time to explore (rainy season) but great to have access to, nonetheless. The neighborhood is only a 15-20 min bus ride from the city center and there is a pretty canal very close by, ideal for a stroll or a jog. We recommend Sarah's home for anyone looking to spend quality time with family/friends in a lovely house and explore the beauty of Edinburgh.

This place is my heaven. Each morning I would look out at the view in complete awe. Claire, her husband, the place and location were absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to come back.

Great location, quiet & just off the main road, easy to find. Parking outside. The apartment had everything we needed. We stayed just one night on our journey up to the east coast. Lauder is a great town and there looked to be some nice walks if only we had more time. Would definitely stay again.

Really lovely flat in the center of Edinburgh, lovely terrace and parking spot. Walking distance to the main tourist area, nice bakeries and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Lovely flat in a lovely small town. The flat as a comfortable and feels like a home rather than a characterless rental. Jak and Kerri reached out to check we were OK and replied quickly when we had questions. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance, and bigger places 6-7 minutes drive away. Further afield you've got St. Andrew's which is great, Edinburgh and the whole of Fife. Parking is on the street but was never a problem. All in all a lovely stay and would happily return.

The apartment is located in a lovely area next to the Tweed with beautiful views from the window. We took 2 dogs with us who had a great time! Terry and Aimee are very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. Appartment modern, comfortable and clean with all the equipment you need. Would highly recommend.

The Garden Flat is perfectly located near all our favourite New Town cafes, restaurants and galleries. The private garden is lovely and the flat is perfect. The host’s extensive recommendations were great.

Really Lovely place. Was looking for somewhere peaceful to take my mum and dad away for the weekend whilst I’m home on leave, with our dog. And this stunning log cabin ticked all the boxes.

Very much enjoyed my stay at Charlie and Mel’s Garden Cabin which is comfortable, compact, well equipped and very quiet overnight. Loved the garden outlook and the seafront location is pleasant and very close to restaurants and amenities. All very convenient and the property’s safe, off road parking is a real bonus. A very good AirB&B stay.

We were only in the cabin for one night as we were travelling on. But we liked it very much.

We had a wonderful stay at East Rigg Lodges. The lodge was exactly as described—comfortable, clean, and cozy. The surrounding environment is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and the peaceful presence of sheep and cows nearby, which added to the charm. We really appreciated the helpful information provided about local bus stops, restaurants, and things to do. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Liz’s place was so peaceful and relaxing after having such a stressful time! The surroundings were stunning and the area was quiet and great for bird watching. Everything was clean and stress free!
