Suzu Hanayamachi is located in a quiet residential area, a 10-minute walk from JR Tambaguchi Station, close to Shimabara Daimon, a remnant of the flower district, and Nishi Honganji Temple, a World Heritage site. The eight buildings in a row feature an exterior with lattices and blinds, which are characteristic of Kyoto townhouses, and an open-air bath and veranda overlooking the courtyard garden. Each building is set up differently, and it is an inn that is suitable for a spiritual journey that touches the detailed and rich sensibilities unique to Japan and reflects on the scenery of the story.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.
