The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

this was the 3rd time our family has stayed,again we had a fantastic time! We chose to return due to the great space, a fabulous indoor pool, great kitchen and an amazing view. Great attention to details, comfortable for large families or groups and peaceful for just 2.

We felt like at home. The house is located in a private property with swimming pool and tennis courts. It’s very clean and very peaceful. Just a clarification about the description : there’s no bathroom in the basement. Then if you come with elderly people or very young kids, it could be annoying. If you like cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. We´ll keep a very good memory of our stay in Ducktrap Retreat during the colorful foliage season.

Booked this place for our anniversary to get away from the city for a weekend.. we found exactly what we were looking for! The hot tub was wonderful, the house was clean and cute, and we had everything we could have needed! Estelle was very responsive and gave clear instructions for everything. Would recommend this place for a quiet getaway or a small group trip in the summer!

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

This house was perfect for a getaway to Bangor! Scott was a great communicator and answered all of our questions about the surrounding area. This house had all the comfort's of home, would highly recommend for anyone traveling in the area.

I had the pleasure of staying in Anthony's place for a week in June and everything was perfect. The post and beam structure is beautiful, lofty, and well lit. The pictures really don't do it justice. All the utilities worked well and it had every amenity, including a whirlpool tub, dish washer, and laundry. The dog park was a bonus for our pup! We plan on coming again next year and recommend it anyone looking for a private comfortable space for two.

We really enjoyed our anniversary cabin! Such a beautiful view from the sun porch area seeing the river. Loved everything about the place and hope to come back for our next anniversary 😁 The hosts were great! They came and helped us with everything to know about the cabin. Gave us a basket of grapes, chocolate covered strawberries and lilac jelly. Loved the size of the place, perfect for us. Highly recommend the cabin and the hosts! 10/10!

This place was perfect for my family stay. the property and home had everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay. you could tell our host Olivia took pride in creating a warm and comfy atmosphere. My only problem was not being able to stay longer and enjoy it more. would have loved to have fired up the grill and sat by the fire pit in the back yard. my family absolutely loved everything. Everything was perfect — from the beautiful views to every detail inside, we could not be more happy with our stay! This lake house. There is something about the state of Maine that we love. And now....there is something about this lake house that we love too. The location is great. You feel secluded & away from things, but you are not far from anything. This was our 2nd time staying, & we can not wait to stay again. Hoping to return in October. As the Maine quote goes, The way life should be, is exactly how we feel about the state & the lake house.

Great location for a family getaway in Maine. Pond was beautiful, listened to loons and frogs every night. Peaceful location.

I had a lovely visit with a good friend. The air bnb stood out to us because of how beautiful the photos were and they didn’t do the place justice. It was so nice to stay in a place that felt like it was cut from a magazine. The home is in a private space but not far from restaurants and other towns with cute shops. We were close to lots of hiking trails and coastlines. I am quite sure I’ll be back!

The minute we walked in we felt at home! Sonya was super responsive and friendly, we got right in with no problem. The location was easy to find, and despite having houses nearby it felt very private. Sonya has everything you can think of. The cabin was clean and warm. Thank you so much, Sonya. Mark was a great host! He offered to let us check in early, as our flight came in before check in time. The house was quiet and peaceful, perfect vacation house! Our kids loved the easy access to the lake, and the house provided numerous outdoor knick knacks for them to play with. We also enjoyed the relaxing mornings on the hammock. The house is close enough to all necessity’s, but still away enough to not feel crowded with people. We would recommend the place to anyone, and will be returning in the future! We spent a night here on our way north, and were extremely pleased! everything was exactly as we expected, and was very comfortable. would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I spent our babymoon at Jennifer’s place, and waking up to the stunning lake view each day was just what I needed to unwind. I asked Jennifer if there was cooking oil available, and her mom kindly brought us a bottle of olive oil before our arrival—such a thoughtful gesture! We will definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area.

The house was a perfect alternative for my sister and our parents to stay together in one place. We were in town from MD for a celebration of life and our dad wanted to show us around his childhood city of Bangor. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
