We are situated 5 minutes walk from Derwent Water and the Nicol End Marina for kayaking and water activities. Portinscale has a pub that serves food and a cafe. Our favourite eating places nearby are Swinside Inn and the Ivy Restaurant in Braithwaite. Keswick is a mere 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk for eating out, shopping and outdoor sports.

It is on the top floor (that's why we call it The Penthouse) giving amazing 270 degree views over the roof tops of the surrounding mountains. From the living room there are outstanding views over the town and of Skiddaw and Latrigg. And of Derwentwater, Borrowdale Valley and the surrounding mountains from the kitchen.

Derwentwater Marina is a short 2 minute walk away, the local fells are easily accessible from the front door and the cycling (both trail and road) are world class. There is a superb cafe situated 100 yards from the cottage and a local village pub. The cosy cottage is the perfect base for a fantastic holiday.

Welcome to Crook a Beck Barn, Patterdale a former Cart Barn which we lovingly restored during 2017. The Barn is located on the original coach road in the hamlet of Crook a Beck, next to the village of Patterdale, in the heart of the Lake District, in one of the most beautiful Lake District valleys. During peak season - April to the end of October, 7 nights minimum stay with a Friday changeover. Short breaks may be available so please drop us a message to ask!
