  • This cottage is beautiful. It is decorated nicely. When we were there, the TV didn't work, so if this is an issue, you may want to confirm that first. The homemade blueberry bread left for us was delicious!

  • We had a cozy weekend stay - convenient location for accessing both the park and nearby wineries. The tub and the electric fireplace were great for the winter!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stillness and seclusion, despite the other houses nearby. Front Royal is only 10 minutes away if you need to be social.

    Amy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a well designed space with a good supply of kitchen, bathroom and vacationing items. We were very pleased with the wonderful location, adjacent to the Park, which was perfect for a hiking vacation. January weather was excellent for being out without many other folks on the trails.

  • Cabin was perfect for a weekend away as a couple. Pictures don't do the place justice! Much nicer and cozier than I expected.

  • Lovely and cozy cabin close to the Appalachian trail!

    Andrew2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin as a woman traveling alone felt really safe especially since you can close the gate and it is in a neighborhood though you would not know it. The claw foot tub heated floors gazebo porch and quaint decorations and layout really made my two night stay so relaxing. And being able to hike from the cabin is a huge plus !

Looking for a "Shack" experience? Spend time in the foothills of the Skyline Drive at our cozy cottage. Well behaved dogs are welcome. The driveway is long and home is very secluded. Set on 60 acres. Winter access will be subject to weather conditions. Driveway does not get plowed Cell service is spotty however the house has a landline and wifi.
It's a peaceful, spiritual place tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains
The deer, the bears, turkeys...mostly the chipmunks that play in the stonewall outside my kitchen window
  • Place to be if you want a beautiful and secluded cottage near Shenendoah NP and Front Royal. House is very clean and immaculate. Has everything you need. Valerie has created a very welcoming place. Kitchen fully equipped. Bed comfortable. Solid wifi. Nice fire pit. Great local tips on the area including hikes, food, etc. if you want a cabin in the woods in this area this is it. Highly recommended. Thanks!

    Lance2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this stay thinking we would spend the weekend hiking in Shenandoah but the property was so nice we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin and the nearby trails on the property.

    Russell2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our best Airbnb experience by far! Valerie's cottage had much more than we expected and really beautiful and thoughtful setting. We enjoyed watching movies on the comfortable sofa, making meals in the spacious kitchen and enjoy the sunshine, warming up next to the gas fireplace, and enjoying the beautiful view. Spend sometime at the cottage and you will have a perfect retreat experience in the woods. Cannot wait to come back.

  • The cabin is a great getaway on a peaceful property.

    Timothy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • One of those places where the pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful and clean space. Wonderful secluded location. Note that the driveway is fine for most cars except maybe sports cars. Valerie is a great host. Highly recommended.

    Eric2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie's cottage is awesome!! I highly recommended this for anyone that wants to stay off the beaten path in a beautiful house. It's a great find.

  • Peaceful and cozy cottage for a get away trip. Very close to several trails leading up to Skyline Drive and the AT. Beautiful location with lots of history and 10 mins from Front Royal. Awesome trip for us and our canine companion.

This cozy small, very private, room has a double bed and room darkening shades. It is adjacent to it own private bathroom with shower and a luxurious warmed toilet seat. Three-way sconce lights on each side of bed, each with a convenient turn-off switch located for easy turn off/on from the bed. There is closet space for hanging clothes.
Cosy Rose Room at Vineyard Vista Country Getaway will allow a dog if guests will agree to keep them on lease and not leave them in the room when they are out. Dogs are welcome, but please do not ask to bring your dog if it is not house broken and you are not willing to wipe their feet every time they come inside. (Due to birds roaming freely the porches and yard.)
The charm of Vineyard Vista Country Getaway is the rural setting. On spring, summer and fall mornings it is relaxing to sit on the kitchen deck and watch peacocks strut, or if early enough watch the sun rise over the mountain while enjoying a cup coffee or special tea.
  • This is a perfect place to end a night of excitement and wonder in the city. The women that gives you the key is war hearted and makes you feel like you’re at home. Very clean and quiet location worth every penny of the very affordable price.

    Henry2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Went for a quick get away from the city and it was everything we hope for and more! We felt right at home the moment we arrived. Petsy's daughter, Susan, was helping host and she was so warm and shared some amazing stories about the area, and the history. The home is so cozy but also has some fun gadgets! We visited the winery next door and had such a lovely time. This is the perfect country get away. If you get a chance don't miss an opportunity tl stay here!

    Chelsey2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay near the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. Petsy was a fantastic host and her home was very comfortable and welcoming. She was very kind and responsive, and the house was very clean. Petsy and her daughter helped us with food recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend!

    Clara2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is so very sweet and hospitable. The house is beautiful with all kinds of antiques. It is on a gorgeous piece of property. Be sure to have your directions and instructions into the house before you get there.....there is no phone service about 1 mile out from the property. So you wont be able to call for directions. But it is so well worth the drive!!

    Brooke And Judy2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy’s place its amazing. Much better than we expected. It was super cozy und sparkling clean. Petsy is a thoughtful host.

    Jan Philip2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed very much to stay at Petsy’s house: it is close to the park (30 min), super cosy and very comfortable. We cooked our breakfast and dinner as there is everything you need. Very recommended!

    Chiara2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is a wonderfull host, and the room is excellent: it's cosy and comfortable. Petsy even made coffee and bagels available for us in the morning. We recomend this lovely place.

    Rasmus Fink2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Although we just spent one night at Petsy’s house, we really enjoyed it. It’s a cosy house outside of the town and it’s really clean and quite. Petsy is a very friendly lady and we are glad to met her. From her place it’s close to the shenandoah national park. We would definitely stay at her place again!

*MOUNTAIN CLOUDS* Relaxing, Escape, Views & Private Hot Tub!
PLease see **NOTES** at the end for information you may need. STUNNING panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley from a large deck, with hot tub AND wood fireplace. All of the amenities. Privacy. PLUS hiking in the Shenandoah National Park is literally steps from the back door. A waterfall with natural pools is less than a 15 minute hike from the house! Wildlife is commonly seen. And at an elevation of 2,000 feet, even summer is comfortable. Skyline Drive and Luray caverns are close by, and Washington DC is only 90 miles away. Also nearby is the Shendandoah River - one of the most beautiful aspects of the area. Lots of opportunity for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating the river. Luray is less than 10 miles away and Front Royal is also nearby, so restaurants, quaint shopping and wineries are all nearby. This is a must see experience! NOTE: The final 1 mile to the Cabin is on a gravel road that is sometimes a single lane and sometimes steep. WE PROVIDE A JEEP for guests needing a higher clearance vehicle to climb the mountain road! (no charge, but reservation for the jeep is required)
This is a VERY unique community becuase it is literally on the mountain! The views are rare and spectacular.
  • Loved this space! Brian was super communicative and if anything, space was cuter than the pictures. Super peaceful and idyllic.

  • I love being deep in the wood. Off the beaten path and Cabin in the Cloud does not disappoint.

    Ernie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect. Very private with great views, especially at sunset. We cooked every meal and never lacked for anything in the kitchen. Brian was especially helpful in making sure I had flowers waiting as a surprise for my lady. Honestly a perfect romantic getaway for a couple that doesn’t mind staying in a rustic little cabin.

    Zachary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Clouds Cabin, and Brian was a thoughtful host who made sure to answer all of our questions. The cabin is very comfortable, the views are amazing, and the hot tub perfect after a long day. We made fires in the fireplace which made the cabin extra toasty at night. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

    Julie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clouds cabin lives up to its name! The road is an adventure but the reward is the most relaxing cabin in the sky to reset the mindset. Brian was very helpful and extremely quick to respond to any issues. Take the trip to stay here. It’s worth it!

    John2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome views and the hike to the waterfall was really nice! We would stay here again.

    Charis2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely, picturesque little house. It was very clean. It was everything we were looking for: solitude, escape, and relaxation with a great view. Loved hiking to the waterfall. The hot tub was awesome. Use of the Jeep was necessary.

  • The view from this cabin is incredible - definitely worth the trip. We had a wonderful time sitting in the hot tub looking out over the mountains and having a fire in the evenings.

    Elizabeth2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Place was nice and cozy. The view was amazing.

    Jarrett2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful and relaxing week at Ashley's cabin. The views were beautiful. The only thing we had trouble with was the long, bumpy road up to the cabin. 4WD is a must. Overall, we had a lovely experience!

    Jimmy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing!! The pictures don’t do the view justice. Everything was clean and neat upon arrival, and communication was excellent throughout. Definitely would recommend not driving a sedan up the mountain, but we had a small SUV and it worked perfectly fine. We will definitely be staying here again!!

    Kelsey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay. 5 stars! The pictures don’t do the view justice. The kitchen had everything you needed, plenty of space to move around and stretch in the mornings, board games came in clutch, and the grill was also super spot on. My favorite part was probably the hot tub. Definitely coming back again! Grocery stores are about a 30 minute drive which isn’t bad since it’s pretty out there but if you want to avoid driving just plan your meals!

    Mark2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a terrific birthday weekend. The view is great, the cabin was clean, and the hot tub was our favorite part. It was a quick drive down the mountain to explore Luray Caverns. We also enjoyed the many wild birds that would visit the property

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and everything was as expected. Great communication with Ashley. We had a wonderful time and plan on a return trip in the future.

    Joe2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, wholesome and cozy space, very responsive host and decent location. As the reviews below state, the drive up the mountain to the property was definitely more suitable for a SUV or truck. Although I did see a neighbor/other guest driving up in a Mini Cooper, so it can be done in a smaller vehicle. My friends and I stayed here for an extended weekend and had an amazing time. We had no complaints and can’t wait to come again for a longer period of time.

TimberWend is a great get-away offering an unparalleled escape. It borders the Shenandoah National Park and overlooks one of the park's least visited waterfalls, Greasy Falls. It has a spectacular fifty-mile view on a clear day and the closest neighbor is one-half mile away.
The driveway to TimberWend is one-half mile long and is not plowed in the winter. SUV recommended. There is a locked gate at the entrance with a key box. Internet is via a satellite dish. It is a 5g system which should provide adequate speeds for most functions, but can be negatively affected by weather and high band width satellite usage. Cell phone service is available to AT&T customers through wifi calling. There is a land line for emergencies.
Our closest neighbor is one-half mile away. The forest is our neighbor and we like the quietness of the place. Very relaxing!
  • This cabin is set in a beautiful location and is the perfect get away! The cabin is well stocked and Bess is an amazing super host.

    Melissa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay, Bess has put the most thoughtful touches into the house. The view was beautiful and the home was cozy, clean, and relaxing.

    Rebecca2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A little peace of heaven..so relaxing. Everything was so perfect!

    Lotta2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cabin with its enormous picture windows and breathtaking views is a balm to the soul. It was just as described, perfectly clean, comfortable beds and unbeatable location next to the Shenandoah National Park. We were charmed by the little touches from gifted host Bess, who's very thoughtful and replies quickly to any questions. If you're looking for a place to rest, relax and find peace in nature, this is it!

    Coqui2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A homey, comfortable, and cozy cabin tucked away from the world. The cabin was very clean and had anything you could need, and if you did need anything else, the host was VERY hospitable. It’s about 20-30 minute drive to the nearest restaurant or town. Shenandoah National Park is right in the backyard, there’s a waterfall you can hear from the balcony... which was a fun and easy hike. The driveway was a little daunting, about 1/2 mile of bumpy terrain. Overall it was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend off the grid!

    Madeline2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great mountain & forest escape. An incredibly cozy cabin, truly remote. Bess makes sure to stock the cabin full of all possible necessities for cooking, as well as a very nice selection for breakfast in the fridge. Went in the winter, it snowed the following day and you could see the frozen waterfall up close. For hiking, would recommend going onto Skyline drive and doing those hikes if you care more about getting to a nice view or peak. Nearby trails and hikes are nice too. Keep in mind that Google Maps may accidentally lead you to a driveway before the correct one. If you can't find it, or don't think you're at the right gate, keep driving on the road following the address numbers! The road was tackled by a Honda Fit (no snow). Bumpy, but okay as long as your car isn't a convertible or something. A very very nice stay for a couple, wifi is satellite based, so don't expect to stream movies, but there is a nice selection of blueray movies at the cabin. Incredibly cozy, would recommend :)

    Vasil2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking to get away from the city to recharge and enjoy the outdoors then this is the place for you. The cabin is completely secluded tucked away right up to the boundary of Shenandoah National Park. Bess also includes breakfast items (as others have mentioned) which is above and beyond what I have experienced at other Airbnbs. Great Experience!!

    Mike2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect getaway! When you first walk in, you instantly notice how homey it feels. Bess has included many special little touches in the home to really allow you to settle in comfortably. We enjoyed the breathing views each day from the front porch and the beautiful waterfall to the side of the home. Bess left some breakfast foods in the fridge which we enjoyed. We also enjoyed some great DVD selections while enjoying warmth from the wood burning stove. Please take notice of feedback regarding the type of vehicle you need to manage the road leading to the home. We had an SUV and it was worth it for the drive. We would absolutely book this place again!

  • We had an absolutely outstanding weekend! Michele and George were amazing hosts and seemed genuinely invested in ensuring our stay was perfect.... And it was! I won't go on about the place... It's perfect. I will say, tho, that the farm fresh eggs tasted so good!!! I had forgotten what a treat a "real egg" omelette could be. Go! Stop looking and reserve now! David and Danielle.

    David2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary as well as a quick baby moon. Great location only 15 minutes from Skyline Drive. Michele was a great communicator and had small wonderful touches left for us upon our check-in. Also pretty cool thing to be woken up by real roosters :)

  • This cottage was a perfect cozy getaway to the VA countryside. The house is close to Front Royal and Sperryville, and all of the fun wineries in the surrounding area. It’s SUPER close to skyline drive, and the Shenandoah River State Park, which has some beautiful walking trails. We will definitely stay again!

    Elizabeth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place tucked away in Shenandoah. Michele has provided everything you could need while you are there, including fresh eggs from the chickens, which is a nice touch. Would 100% stay again and hopefully will be back in the future when the area is in full bloom!

    Connor2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is the ultimate oasis for a nice getaway from a busy and stressful work week. Michele was there to greet us and offered great suggestions for food and local attractions- which we were so thankful for! There is nothing about the apartment that was skimped out on, everything was warm, clean and super comfortable! We would give our stay ten stars if we could and we have no doubt that we will be back for another weekend away down the road.

    Anne2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, we knew we had picked the right place! It is an absolutely gorgeous spot, and so close to the Skyline Drive. The guest cottage was spotless, and equipped with everything you could possibly need, from fresh eggs in the frig to toiletries to all kinds of info about area attractions! We loved that the space was so homey, and we loved being able to see the sunrise from our bed. George and Michelle could not have been nicer, and we enjoyed having the dogs greet us each day. If you are looking for a peaceful spot close to everything, plan a stay here...we can't wait to come back again!!!

Enjoy fresh forest air, chill in your own modern cabin-like oasis in the woods, and still utilize WiFi, a full kitchen, and private laundry. Literally just a few minutes away from Shenandoah National Park Entrance / Skyline Drive, grocery, and Front Royal’s Main Street. The pool will be open in May, the perfect way to relax after a nice hike.
(Art) Studio-style space with a king bed in the main bedroom and 2 full-size floor mattresses in the loft area above. The main space is wheel-chair accessible. Loft area with full-size mattresses, requires discretion climbing a secured ladder with adult supervision-only. Indoor access from main area to loft and laundry is through main bedroom.
Nestled away from hustle and bustle on a beautiful forresty hilltop yet only a few minutes from town and Skyline Drive.
  • Very cool, eclectic place. It felt like a home away from home and was conveniently located by Shenandoah National Park and town. Will recommend to friends!

  • Izzy's place exceeded our expectations in every way. A perfect location, to both the town of Front Royal and the entrance to Skyline Drive. The apartment was cozy, clean and well-appointed. Love all the time personal paintings and little touches. I highly recommend Izzy's place to any Travelers, and would choose it again if returning do the area. Roger & Vicki

  • Izzy's place was a great home base for a hiking trip in Shenandoah National Park. The kitchen was well equipped for home cooked meals, and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the cozy environment of this home!

    Rosemary2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Izzy's place is a very artsy nicely decorated Airbnb in a great location to Shenandoah NP which was our reason for going. It is very clean and comfortable. Izzy greeted us on arrival and when we had a problem and called her she answered right away.

The house is located at the top of Chester Gap and is only a 5 minute walk to the Appalachian trail. Attractions like Luray caverns, Skyline Drive (2.5 mile walk) the Shenandoah River, wineries and other local trails are around the area. And let’s not forget about the best burgers in Virginia: Spelunkers. We have two lovely and friendly cats named Lumière and Miss Potts
House is a cabin that has been built on to. A private bedroom and a bathroom are provided to the guests. Kitchen and general living area shared with the owners. However, we do not spend much time in your area so it has the feel of your own house. Also, the entrance is private.
  • A very nice place to discover Shenandoah valley. The house is beautiful and clean. Valentina and Anthony are friendly and accommodating, sure to respect your privacy. I recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Completely renovated and modern beautiful country cottage right next to skyline drive.

  • Glenda and Bill's place is a delight. Somewhat secluded but close to shopping and downtown Front Royal. The house is bright and roomy with a beautifully appointed kitchen which I enjoyed cooking in. Our hosts were very responsive. I can recommend Glenda and Bill's place without hesitation.

  • My extended stay in this home was above and beyond what I expected. Not only is the home itself beautiful, with modern appliances, an incredible master bathroom, and so tastefully decorated, but the location next to Skyline Drive is so peaceful. • Really enjoyed our stay here. We discovered in the guestbook others had started a hide-a-dollar game, which was fun to figure out. Hot tub was very relaxing. Gorgeous views. The hosts left home-made cookies, and the place was stocked with wood and sand for the fire pit both next to the house and at the lake. There was also coffee, cooking pans, etc. Very warm and cozy. What a gorgeous walk to the lake, and a beautiful memory.

This historic church, established in 1872, is nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Forest and just a 15 minute drive from the famed Skyline Drive. Situated in the forest in an idyllic setting next to a babbling brook, The Church House is the ultimate nature retreat – only a short 90 minute drive from Washington DC.
Featuring a large central area for gathering family and friends, a large farmhouse dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen, The Church House is primed for gathering and entertaining while also serving as a quiet retreat for two. With century old original details, such as a 12 foot by 12 foot hand painted mural by a traveling pastor that depicts Jesus with a flock of sheep in the Shenandoah Valley and serves as the concave backdrop for the original alter. This and much more makes this property a once in a lifetime experience waiting to be had. Nestle up next to a fire in the wood stove and soak in the surrounding forest views. Downstairs, where the original Sunday School once was, is a master queen bedroom and master bath. Upstairs you’ll find an open air loft with a king size bed, as well as two XL twins with the option of twin trundles underneath. This loft is an airy, 800 square feet, with views of the outside forest, a nook for reading, meditating, or enjoying your morning coffee. Traveling with little ones? The loft also has a fully stocked toy chest, bath toys, and an optional port-a-crib should you need it. Part of the loft is a large bathroom featuring an extra-large jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower, as well as his and her sinks. Take a bath while enjoying the sound of the creek rushing by and the views of the forest outside. Ready to venture outside? The church house experience continues as you walk into the fully-designed backyard. Waiting for you is a professional quality grill, hot tub that can accommodate 7 people, and a fire pit set on local river stones and situated right alongside the creek. The church house is located on one of the most popular loops for local bikers and runners – gooney manor loop – take one of the two provided bikes and explore the rolling hills, local farms, and stunning views bordering the Shenandoah National Park.
If you’d like to pack some sight-seeing into your forest retreat, we’ve got you covered. Just a 5 minute drive away is a gorgeous Shenandoah winery, and it’s only 20 minutes to the town of Front Royal, whose Main Street provides lots of wonderful options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If you’re looking to get outdoors – the church house is just 15 minutes from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park which is full of hikes, view points, and features one of the most beautiful drives on the East coast. Also 20 minutes from the church house you’ll find the famous Shenandoah River, with local outfitters renting tubes, canoes, and kayaks for river adventures. Whether you’re looking to spend the weekend nestled inside relaxing or adventuring in the Shenandoah surroundings, the church house is designed to provide the ultimate getaway experience to leave you refreshed and inspired.
  • An absolutely charming place to be! The property is beautiful and accommodations are wonderfully thoughtful. Every room was immaculate and yet incredibly cozy. It truly felt like a home away from home, and I can’t wait to go back!

    Esther2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was BY FAR THE BEST AIRBNB I have ever stayed at. I can not recommend enough. 1) The location: it was stunning. The drive up to the church was beautiful and was an experience of its own. Being able to sit around the church and enjoy the stream running by, birds chirping, etc. I was so grateful to be in this location to begin with 2) The inside: Right away, this place felt like home for me and my group, and I am sure it will feel the same for any other group. The vibe was cozy with an open layout and hardwood floors. The amenities were stunning - Something I never expect from an Airbnb. The place was sparklingly clean, the beds (So many!!) were comfortable, the bathrooms were beautiful, the upstairs shower blew my mind with its water pressure, the piano allowed for our group’s musically talented individuals to serenade us with great, and nostalgic music (although I am not musically talented, our piano playing friend said the piano was really well tuned!). The wood stove in the main room. So cozy. We knew we could use the smart thermostat to heat the place up at night, but we used the wooden stove as a fire place, it just hits different; so so cozy. The interior design of the church left my group wanting to redesign our own personal homes. 3) The outside: Hot tub. Campfire. MOSS!! Our group spent so much time in the clean and cozy hot tub that was right next to the stream running by, leaving a really rustic sound of running water while we were soaking in the hot tub. The campfire brought me back to my days at summer camp as a kid. One night, we even cooked our dinner around the campfire (even though there was a brand new grill available!). I also never knew I loved moss. I had no opinion of it before coming, but there is moss laid out around the church that is SO soft that your bare feet feel as if you are walking on brand new carpet.. but like.. outside. 4) Etc: it seemed as if every detail of the place was thoughtfully executed. Blazing fast WiFi, kids toys upstairs, coffee pour over bar, shampoo/conditioner, campfire wood provided, washer/dryer, full kitchen, soft carpeting, the hosts provided an extremely helpful welcome book for troubleshooting ANY problems you may have (and they made videos if you don’t want to read the welcome book!) Clearly I recommend anyone staying here. This place can be a stop on your trip, or a whole trip itself. Do yourself a favor, come to the church, hike in Shenandoah National Park, enjoy time with friends, family, significant other, or yourself, but do yourself a favor and come here. I most definitely will be back. Thank you, Iz and Johnny. This place was an amazing break from everyday life.

We look forward to coming back soon, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

  • Great value, and nice location on the river. Loved the remote location. Enjoyed the fire pit and out door grill, hot tub was nice to relax at the end of the day. VERY CLEAN, kitchen essentials included. Definitely glad that I brought all my groceries for our stay, no stores or restaurants near by. Will keep in mind for this summer

    Nicole2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I rented the cabin for a weekend getaway to celebrate his graduation and it was the perfect place to do so. The home is clean, comfortable, secluded, and so so cozy! We enjoyed nighttime hot tub soaks under the stars and dancing around the kitchen while making delicious meals. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this home to anyone looking.

  • We stayed for a beautiful winter weekend in December. The cabin is perfectly comfortable, cozy, and warm. We enjoyed our coffee inside by the gas fireplace and from the hot tub outside on the deck! Lots of firewood laying around for the fire pit too, no need to buy it. We toured the caverns, had a few beers at Hawksbill Brewing, and brought a pizza back from Gennaros! Looking forward to staying again!

Our cabin, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is uniquely positioned overlooking a large open field where hawks hunt and bears leisurely walk through. Our neighbors have 3 horses that peer over the fence to see what is going on but we are not allowed to feed them Our cabin was built in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. In that very cabin a soldier and his wife raised 11 children. Our cabin is rustic and lovely. A large front porch with swing is waiting for you.
Pets on a case by case basis. Please discuss your pet with us before booking! Some pets have done a fair amount of damage! If your pet is allowed , there will be a $10.00 per visit fee for extra cleaning! If you are a stickler for privacy....the bedrooms are adjoining but separated by a door! A reminder...this is an old , rustic, vintage cabin so stairs are narrow to both bedrooms and bathroom so please be careful!
We are remote! Our immediate neighbors Greg and Robin are great people and they own the 3 beautiful horses that you see in the yard. Their 3 horses Calypso, Cole and Kayla will be hanging over the fence hoping to greet you...please no feeding the horses! We are expecting a Gypsy Vanner foal in Spring.
  • Great rustic home with authentic touches to compliment the era of the home. The wood stove kept the place toasty warm and the kitchen stove/ oven is a fantastic addition to compliment the cabin era. The home was sparkling clean, stocked with plenty of firewood, and had detailed simple instructions for using the wood stove. The grounds are relaxing and great for hiking . Spend time sitting on the porch swing sipping coffee in the morning or star gazing in the evenings. Great place for dogs to play. Enjoyed hiking the grounds everyday, especially to the falls. Best place to disconnect from technology, reconnect to nature and simply unwind!

  • Amazing cabin on a beautiful property! Just the perfect weekend away to relax and unwind. We loved the wood burning stove in the living room. Made for cozy evenings together. Will definitely recommend. Hope to return soon!

  • This place is such a gem! Judith was a wonderful host and was so helpful to make recommendations. The cabin was as cozy as it gets and is situated on such a beautiful property. We loved sipping our coffee in the morning out on the porch swing and hiking along the paths which you can easily access from the property.

    Annie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is so beautiful and well-kept and easily convenient to Shenandoah National Park. We arrived at night, which was a little spooky, since the roads are really dark and the cell reception is minimal, so probably would recommend arriving with some daylight. That being said, the cabin's remoteness was absolutely part of its charm, and it is one of the most beautiful airbnb's I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend!

    Marissa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • John Pope cabin is amazing located in beautiful pure nature. We felt very safe. Cabin has good amenities (kitchen, outdoor grill, etc). Judith is an amazing hist as well very warm and welcoming. The only thing others should know is that there is no wireless network in the cabin itself which is great for getting away from the world but it can easy be accessed by going near the main house in the field and using the host’s WIFI. We enjoyed out trip so much and will be back again. Would definitely recommend.

    Yavar2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place that was off the grid, still offered some of the comforts of home, was secluded but close to Shenandoah National Park. This cabin was perfect for that. What a wonderful place this was. Judith was very responsive and extremely accommodating. It was very clean upon arrival with all the amenities mentioned. We had spotty cell phone service as expected (AT&T/Cricket). The wood stove was perfect for open door viewing like a fireplace, and closed door for warmth. The stars were so unbelievably bright.  The kitchen was well outfitted, including a water cooler when well water isn't preferred. The location was extremely quiet and very remote. Judith is down the hill, but if you choose seclusion, it's like you're in the middle of nowhere.  The proximity to SNP was perfect. It's situated West of, and between the two Northernmost entrances of the park, so it made access very convenient.  Be advised that the steps to the bathroom are steep and in a different part of the cabin than the bedrooms (as mentioned in the description). Just a mild inconvenience for the other benefits to this cabin. The outdoor shower was great, but on cooler days, the average person will most likely want to use the bathtub.  All of the furniture was very comfortable, and the cabin was somewhere we could have spent hours in by itself. If you're looking for the same things we were, you will not be disappointed!

    Alex2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! As the listing says, come with 4-wheel or all wheel drive - the last bit of the drive up to the cabin is rocky, hole-y, bumpy, and steep, but you are more than rewarded for it when you get to the cabin. The views are absolutely stunning, the beds very comfortable, the hot tub a delight, and the interior wood stove an extra treat :) Bring firewood to enjoy the wood stove in winter. The kitchen was one of the best appointed I've ever had in an AirBnB - plenty of pots and pans, good knives, cutting boards, a toaster, etc. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

  • Great place, awesome view, very close to everything, yet remote enough for that authentic cabin feeling. It hosts up to 6 people, although I’d recommend 4, because one bed is in the living room, there’s only one bath, and the hot tub would probably get crowded with 6. The road up to the place is unpaved and very rocky. A car with good ground clearance and preferably all-wheel drive is a must in my opinion. You can probably get there with a regular sedan, but if you have an SUV or truck, I’d bring that. Ashley was very friendly and helpful, with quick replies to any questions we had. I would go to this cabin again.

  • This cabin is exactly what you see, it’s truly a mountain getaway! Ashley, the host, was on top of communications with us while setting everything up, great amenities and the hot tub and the view were fantastic and everything we needed for our little weekend. Highly recommended for your next trip! Truly not joking about needing AWD/4WD vehicle to get up that like last mile of the hill but the cabin and the views are and were with the extra expense to rent an AWD vehicle.

  • Very clean, beautiful space. Amazing view and very quiet place to relax. Highly recommend this place for getting away and just relaxing

    Morris2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have ask for a more picturesque place to spend the weekend! This cabin has amazing views and an updated interior. Perfect for a cozy stay! Also close to awesome hiking trails and wineries/breweries. Highly recommended!

    Lindsey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I rang in the new year at this amazing cabin, and it was the perfect place to celebrate! As others have mentioned, the views are absolutely incredible--great to enjoy while soaking in the hot tub. The cabin has all the necessities and is very clean. Ashley was very communicative prior to and during our stay. We'll seek this space out again!

  • Comfy and welcoming cabin that felt like home with a beautiful view of the valley. Great reccommendations of local activities (caverns) and eateries. Would stay again!

    April2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at this cabin. The views were breathtaking. It's a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a small family trip to the Shenandoah Valley. It felt away from it all, yet it was a short drive to Luray for groceries, restaurants and sightseeing. The host was always quick to respond to any questions I had and was very accommodating. I definitely recommend to use 4 wheel drive, as recommended, due to the last mile or so of the road to the cabin having some steep parts. I was able to make it in my front wheel drive sedan, but it would've been tricky with inclement weather. All in all, highly recommend!

    Jennifer2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place really does have spectacular views. I stayed for 2 nights and was amazed by the views which can be seen from one of the bedrooms and living room. We watched the storm clouds move over the valley, the morning fog over the valley, and sunrise and sunset. It was the perfect stay for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. The WiFi was very reliable. The host was very responsive and the place was clean. I can’t wait to visit again soon, it’s really a gorgeous spot on the mountain.

  • Skye's place was fantastic! It's nicely decorated and full of thoughtful touches that made my stay cozy, easy, and very welcoming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    James2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Skye's place over New Year's eve! The home is spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. We took advantage of the outdoor fire pit as well, which really added to the atmosphere of the holidays. Skye was also a prompt communicator.

    Jim2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Skye’s place is amazing. Nice touches. We had everything we needed and more. Loved the vinyl records. We listed to great music each night. The location is perfect. I’m sorry we didn’t have time to use fire pit as the weather was perfect.

    Liz J.2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I was definitely recommend Skye’s place! It was a perfect location for where we wanted to go in the area. Although it is a basement apartment, it felt like your own personal space. It was super clean, with so many special finishing touches that really made it feel comfortable and homey. There were many amenities and they left us a cute gift of wine and chocolate. There was a lot of information about the area that they left us as well. It’s a really good location if you want to go to skyline Drive, check out wineries in the area, or go hiking close by! We will be back! :)

    Sarah2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Skye’s home! This place really felt like home! Very spacious and clean. There is everything for your convenience and comfort: beautiful dining area, equipped kitchen, Apple TV, nice area for sitting outside, games to play in the evening. Location is great! Very close to the entrance to Shenandoah national park. Checkin was very easy (with a code). There is parking for two cars. Upon arrival, we found a very nice welcome gift (water, wine and chocolate). There was everything needed for a baby at the house (crib, wipes, dishes, shampoo etc.).

    Anastasia2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Skye's place was perfect for a getaway from D.C. It is close to the northern entrance to Shendandoah, which is why we chose this spot. Skye left many wonderful touches to make us feel welcome. The fire pit was also wonderful and Skye had everything we would need for that. My favorite part of this place was the recommendations that Skye sent ahead of time. The local tips were so handy when choosing where to eat and what to do. I would highly recommend this spot.

    Jordan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Skyes place is adorable! The location is perfect for all the sightseeing you would need to do. The place has gone above and beyond for anything you might need. I forgot face wash and of course it was there for me to use. It is very clean and decorated to make you feel right at home. There is a working record player we even used. There was a special welcome gift waiting for us and some treats provided. Great spot to start for a trip to Shenandoah National Park :)

Our Circa 1885 Victorian home is located in the quaint village of "Little Washington". Walk to shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Hiking, wineries, and breweries all nearby. Your retreat has its own entrance, screened-in porch, PRIVATE BATH w/ shower, luxurious pillow-top bed, 100% cotton sheets, indoor and outdoor fireplaces. We also offer plush robes, a refrigerator, and Keurig coffee maker. (Breakfast served upon request whenever we are in town!)
Read by the fireplace in your large sunlit suite; or sit on your screened-in porch and enjoy coffee or tea whilst overlooking our 1.5 acre backyard. Later, watch the sunset from our front porch, then stroll to dinner at one of the two eateries within walking distance. And don't forget to enjoy the nearby walking path that encircles a field where llamas, sheep, and goats graze! All amenities are included, and whenever possible we will provide anything you have forgotten to bring!
Walk to the Inn at Little Washington... enjoy a glass of wine and fine chocolate at Wine Love's Chocolate... or have a casual dinner at our favorite in-town restaurant, Tula's. Several fine shops are within walking distance: August George, Rare Finds and R.H. Ballard's. There are also nice country roads on which to get some exercise (walking, jogging, or biking).
  • This was hands-down the best BnB experience I've ever had! Veronika communicated with us throughout the entire trip, the house was a beautiful and clean space, they provided us with all amenities (even things I wouldn't have thought of!), the breakfast they provided was above and beyond our expectations, and they were so welcoming and open to giving us suggestions for things to do around town (they even gave us a gift card for a nearby cafe!). Next time we visit, we will most definitely be staying at their place 😊

    Renie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Veronika and Jeff and hope to return in the fall. The proximity to the Inn at Little Washington can’t be beat, and they were such thoughtful hosts. They served delicious light breakfasts for us each day, and the personalized service made the stay feel really special. Would definitely recommend these hosts if you’re looking for a more affordable and personalized alternative to the Inn, but still want to be close.

    Laura2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Book this now! My fiance and I had an amazing weekend with Veronika and Jeff. Pictures don't do justice to their place so I'll break it down for you :) The Place The house has a mix of Victorian - French Country style that is just charming. The high vintage bedframe was beautiful but more importantly very comfy. If you forgot your books, don't worry, you will find a whole shelf with a variety of books, I even found a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The bedroom has a private entrance with an outdoor sitting area that looks very cozy (we didn't use it because it was February). The best feature by far was the fireplace, oh it was such a treat. It wasn't the regular fireplace that got the room smokey and smelly. It is a remote-controlled one that looks like the real thing and makes it cozy and romantic. The Location This place was near everything, do you want to go hike? Sure, the Thornton Gap Entrance of the Shenandoah National Park was like an 18-min drive away. Do you want to go wine tasting? There are plenty of wineries nearby, there is even one walking distance. Do you want to go to pet llamas and sheep? Just walk two blocks. Do you want food at a reasonable price? Sperryville is like 10 min away, there you will find many shops and restaurants. There is a pizza place and a very nice coffee shop. This place is very close to The Inn so you have all the shops and treats for a lower price and with amazing hosts! The Hosts Veronika and Jeff were very attentive and responded really quickly to our messages and have tons of recommendations for everything. On a regular basis, they do not offer breakfast, but sometimes they do on weekends. We were lucky to be there on a Saturday and the breakfast not only was good but a very stylish one. Jeff beautifully arranged a board with cheeses, cold cuts, fruits, and veggies. For my very long review, you already know that we are definitely going back!

    Nathalia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely couple with a beautiful home. Walking distance to everything in Washington and a short drive to hikes, wineries and Sperryville. Outstanding hosts with a beautiful breakfast. When they couldn’t provide breakfast one morning, they gave us a gift card to a cute coffee shop. We enjoyed our conversations with them and we’d definitely stay there again.

    Jasmeen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, just down the street from the Inn and across from gorgeous gardens and walking paths. Veronika and Jeff's home is clean, welcoming, very comfortable and stylish. On days it is offered, do plan on breakfast at the house, an elegant and delicious start to the day. Both have many tips on places to visit and good spots to eat. Their home is in the middle of wine and horse country, near trails, Luray caverns and small towns worth visiting. This is a short drive from the city, and yet a stunning change in landscape. We plan to return. Lovely, lovely home.

    Jacqueline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I've been using Airbnb for years and have been to over 15 countries. This was one of the best Airbnb experiences and hosts I've ever come across anywhere in the world!

    William2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Veronika and Jeff are very hospitable. They obviously care about their guests having a pleasant and relaxing experience. They are easy to talk to, eager to offer helpful insight on things to do locally, and provide a great breakfast in the morning. The room is clean, spacious, and comfortable with an electric fireplace and small refrigerator. They also had two robes which was a nice touch. It's location a block from the Inn at Little Washington makes it a great choice for people having dinner at the Inn but rather not stay there afterwards. A final additional perk for us were their cats, which were very sweet. Overall it was a great experience and I'd strongly recommend it for people looking for accommodation in the Washington, VA area.

    Omar2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Veronika and Jeff were excellent hosts, making the place feel like a traditional Bed and Breakfast with a lovely breakfast to start the day. The room was spacious and cozy and the fireplace was much appreciated coming back from a cold hike. Little touches like local tips and having the room equipped with toiletries, books, and coffee and other beverages made the stay more than pleasant. Location is perfect for access to hikes or the Inn at Little Washington. Highly recommend!

Completed in 2016, this cozy retreat features one of the best views of the Shenandoah Valley. Mountain Music is tied to the natural beauty that surrounds it. You can sit quietly & hear the sounds of Mother Nature. Hawks & Bald Eagles often fly overhead...you may even spot deer or a black bear in the field below! Even though you'll feel as though you're "miles away from it all" rest assured that civilization is only a short drive away. Luray is only 8 miles south & Front Royal is 17 miles north.
  • Amazing views and plenty of stuff to do around Luray and Front Royal. Great for kids and adults alike. This was my first AirBnB experience and it was a good one. The drive up the mountain was rocky and fun for me in the Jeep.

  • Caroline’s place was beautiful inside and out, the hot tub was perfect to relax in after a hike and stargaze!

  • This cabin is amazing! The view is so incredibly gorgeous and the atmosphere is so relaxing. It was the perfect getaway

    Brittany2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline’s place was great ! It was clean in all areas and fully stocked on kitchen utensils we needed. after our first night we lost heat and cable TV and the duty manager on site was quick to bring us space heaters in multiple rooms which heated the place right away. He was able to effectively trouble shoot the TV and we got more channels in minutes. Very accommodating. Very quick responses from Caroline and duty manager accessibility. The hot tub was a great touch to our trip. We didn’t get to use the grill as much as expected since we forgot foil but the oven worked just as good. Beautiful views and easy directions to find the place and very detailed. Caroline was accommodating to our check in time and check out which helped with kids. Kid friendly place for sure . Highly recommended and would definitely be back .

    Elissa2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline’s cabin was the perfect weekend retreat! My husband and I enjoyed the weekend relaxing and taking in the beautiful views! The cabin kitchen has all the cooking tools required, TV available if you want, and a very well organized cabin that would have been great for two other friends to come with us. You will definitely need AWD / 4WD to get up to the cabin!

BBQ on the patio or take one of the kayaks to one of the neighborhood's river access points. Relax in the 600 Gallon hot tub after fishing in one of the nearby river access points. We enjoy having breakfast on the kitchen table while looking at the mountain views. They never get old! Please read below for our COVID-19 Update

Castle Vineyards is ten minutes away and Hawksville Brewery is a short drive into Luray. The HOA gives you access to two points on the horseshoe shaped river. The access points are .9 miles and 1.2 miles away respectively. This is perfect for kayaking or canoeing. We have two kayaks and a canoe on the property. We also have three fishing poles but we do not provide any lures. We are close to Shenandoah National Park. The trailhead for the Heiskell Hollow Trail is ten minutes by car. This trial connects to the Over Run Loop Trail which takes you to Over Run Falls. Over Run Falls is 92 feet tall and is the largest waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park
  • My friends and I stayed at Mark’s place for a quick weekend trip. We really enjoyed the hot tub which fit all 6 of us comfortably and the great view of the mountains. It was easy to access hiking trails, and the house was super comfortable and spacious. We loved our stay and hope to return again for a longer trip sometime!

  • Mark’s place was incredible. It served as the perfect retreat for my group of 4. The place was sparkling clean, fully stocked and the view is insane. The photos truly don’t do it justice. The communication was quick and Mark made sure that we were well informed. Highlights from my trip are the view (hands down) the hot tub, fireplace and the overall coziness of the space. Thank you, Mark for truly making this one of the best vacations I’ve ever had.

  • Ashley’s cabin was a great location for three friends looking to escape the city for the weekend. It was just what we were looking for: secluded time away from our busy lives in Washington, D.C. The cabin looked just like the pictures, three bedrooms and two bathrooms., with the breathtaking views of the mountains from the living room and hot tub. Next time we need an escape from the city we’ll be be coming back to Ashley’s for another relaxing weekend.

    Travis2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is fantastic, the view is terrific and the hot tub had amazing views. The road was muddy and wet, we definitely needed 4 wheel drive as is described in the description. We were close to several hiking trails in the area. We would definitely stay here again, you will enjoy Ashley's cabin.

    Richard2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley's place was so great! It was a little bit tight for 3 couples and 4 dogs but the weather was fabulous so we spent most of our time outside and on the incredible covered porch! Plenty of fun games and puzzles - the indoor fireplace was so cozy. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommend.

    Emily2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! The view is beyond “breath taking”.... I still see the image in my dreams! Beautiful place, we never wanted to leave! The only downfall was not booking it long enough! Once again we sat the entire 4 days looking at the view playing the monopoly game provide! INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

    Ahyanne2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Remote, quiet cabin with amazing mountain/valley view. Stayed for 2 nights with 4 adults and a toddler. We played lots of board and card games and took full advantage of the huge hot tub. The only outing we did was to Luray Caverns which was beautiful, but I don’t recommend going with a 2 year old. I would highly recommend this cabin for a quiet, relaxing getaway!

    Lauren2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ashely was responsive, responsible, and generous during my entire stay. I’d recommend his cabin if you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay and relax while staying close to Shenandoah hiking trails and nature.

This gorgeous cabin will be ready for use no later than Fall 2020. It was originally built in the 1700's . We are in the process of restoring it to the period. It is remote and quiet filled with nostalgia and scents of the past. There is a large field adjacent on one side and a million gallon pond on the other. In addition there are beautiful views from every corner of the property. The Sam White Cabin was named for a freed slave who made his living in the nearby mountains as a Smithy.
Our cabin is remote yet near our main home.

The “Classic Coral Room” is one of three rooms available at “Vineyard Vista Country Getaway”. Part of the Skyline Drive on the Blue Ridge Mountain is visible from the north-facing window in this room. From the west-facing window Glen Manor winery, Buck Mountain and a wind-blown silo are part of the landscape.
Classic Coral Room is a spacious room with blackout and translucent shades. One closet is for clothing and the other has the TV with remote control. Two drawers are available for guests who want them. The queen-size Craftsman bed has one remote control. The bed can be positioned for lounging, raising feet, or head or both. For tired muscles, a gentle 30 minute massage, may be of help.
You may notice the stars seem brighter on clear nights at Vineyard Vista Country Getaway because the lights of town are five miles away. Vineyard Vista Country Getaway is remote and rural, yet close enough to allow easy and fast access to local attractions such as Shenandoah National Park, Luray and Skyline Caverns, scenic driving on the Skyline Drive, canoeing, hiking, civil war museums and the Shenandoah Valley Museum, or just relaxing and enjoying nature in the country. VVCG is about fifteen miles from Christendom College in Front Royal.

  • Petsy's home is a quaint and homey place that is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of a big northeastern city. Can be a touch difficult to find at night, but nothing you can't find with Google maps these days.

    Rodney2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely weekend at this Airbnb! It was very clean and the location was absolutely gorgeous. It's perfect for a trip to Shenandoah because it's right at the entrance to Skyline Drive. Petsy had bagels and coffee for us for breakfast and she also has two adorable cats! We were very happy with our decision to stay here.

    Kate2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy's place is wonderful! It is 10 minutes from the Front Royal Shenandoah Park entrance. She is a wonderful host. I felt like I was staying at a family member's house. We stayed in the coral room. It was beautifully decorated - like a fancy bed and breakfast! It was on the second floor and private. The first night shared the bathroom with another guest, but never saw him/her. It was lovely that Ms. Petsy joined us during breakfast and shared stories with us. Be sure to watch out the peacock poop! (They are beautiful!) The place is lovely, clean and a great location. Just be sure to be comfortable sharing the bathroom and possibly common space with others if other guests are there. It was perfect for us!

  • Gorgeous setting, lovely host, cool birds!

    Sadie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's a lovely house a short drive to the Front Royal entrance of Shenandoah National Park. The property is right next to the park and you can spot the Skyline Drive from her back patio. Petsy is friendly and welcoming. She left a packet of very detailed information in our room about the house and area.

    Marissa2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is a great host, flexible and is as social/respecting privacy as suits your style. great location and property. Highly recommend.

    Peter2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet peaceful Shenandoah getaway. Can only recommend. Petsy is a wonderful host. You will feel at home immediately.

  • Amazing location if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. The views are amazing and the house was very clean! David was a great host!!

  • David’s cabin is in a great location. Very clean and comfortable! The cabin is perfect for a weekend retreat. It’s located in a secluded area, on the top of a mountain with some great views. A long gravel road leads to the cabin which might be hard to spot when you arrive in the dark. Just know the navigation apps on your phone might not work very well. There are plenty of wineries, antique stores and restaurants in the area! And, hiking Old Rag is a must! We visited the area for a birthday party at the Three Blacksmiths. Make a reservation at this delightful restaurant if you are in the area. We personally love the Sperryville area and will definitely be back.

    Kjell2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Second time stay at David’s slice of Heaven and it was just as remembered. Such a peaceful weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Will be back.

    Carrie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at David's cabin. I love the location on top of the mountain with amazing views, how private it is yet only a short drive from amazing hiking spots. The house is exactly as pictured and David is a fantastic host. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Jessica2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is wonderful - just as described. He is an excellent communicator and gave great directions. It was a very cold weekend but we were cozy and warm especially with the fireplace which was well stocked with wood. The house had everything we needed and is very accessible to Sperryville. If it had been warmer, we would have taken advantage of the patio which has a great view.

    Charlotte2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, comfortable home in a very special location. The property is immediately adjacent to the national park and sits atop what is effectively a private mountain. This is a special, secluded spot that would make a fantastic jumping off point for hiking, biking, or generally exploring the region. There's a long, unpaved private drive up to the house, which was very well maintained, but is steep in spots and could potentially be tricky to navigate in bad weather. Was no problem in mid-December in the rain in a front-wheel drive vehicle. David was a very responsive and gracious host. We hope to return to this beautiful spot in other seasons.

    Stephen2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We live in DC and are repeat guests at this place. It's absolutely perfect, lots of space and amazing hospitality. It's exactly what you want if you're trying to get out of the city for a few days. It's a wonderful house with all the amenities you would expect and pretty secluded up the mountain. It's about a 15 minute drive into town where we always meet the nicest people. Really cannot say enough great things about this place and about David.

    Aaron2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • David, went above and beyond to be a great host. When we arrived there was information on the table about how things worked around the house and where to find things. He also had some great recommendations for the area. We brought both of our labs with us and they have the time of their lives.

  • My husband and I booked the cottage last minute as our Europe plans were cancelled. We brought along our two dogs and had a wonderful time. The views from the cottage are gorgeous and the cottage is adorable. This is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of DC.

    Rachel2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The place was comfortable and had a very unique charm to it. We enjoyed strolling the field and relaxing in the hot tub. We came to get away from our hectic work schedules and just shut down for a weekend. The only suggestionI would make for others is to make sure you either screenshot your door code or write it down. We had absolutely no service on Verizon (which was fine) but we had to go somewhere to get service so we could get the code. All in all, we had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend and would definitely come here again.

    Victor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for a long weekend for his birthday. We also brought our two golden retrievers: Cash and Dolly. We visited Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. The cabin is located in close proximity to both attractions. We ate at The Apple House, Pavemint Taphouse, Headmasters Pub, Spelunker’s, and West Main Market. We all enjoyed the cabin so much, especially the pups. Cash and Dolly loved running and playing on the open land located at the property. They enjoyed watching the neighbor horse, cow, and chickens. Everything was so great and we hope to be back soon! Would highly recommend the cottage.

    Jenny2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had a great view of the mountains. We loved grilling and using the hot tub. Great view of the stars! We had fun going into nearby towns of Shenandoah and Luray. The cottage was cozy especially with the wood stove going. It was a restful retreat from the hectic city life.

    Chelsea2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Peace of heaven. Cabin had everything we needed. Beautiful view of the sky at night while sitting in the hot tub. Who knew there were so many stars?

    Karen2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Charles' cottage was such a lovely weekend experience; the only thing I could have asked for was more time there! It was our first trip to the Shenandoah Valley and we got perfect weather to explore Luray, Front Royal, and Skyline Drive! We made dinner at the cottage after we checked in on Friday night and everything worked perfectly for us - stove, oven, dishwasher, hot water, refrigerator, and the grill! We walked around Main St. Luray Saturday morning, got breakfast at Uncle Bucks, and headed over to check out the Hawksbill Brewery! We loved the Cream Ale! They had a BBQ food truck there that smelled AMAZING, but we were so full from breakfast that we just had two beers then headed back to the cottage to get our pups and hike to Hogback overlook. We came home, showered (plenty of hot water there, too, and super clean!!) then went into Front Royal to have dinner at the Front Royal Brewing Company. The food was great, beer was cold and refreshing, and the service was quick, despite the crowd! Came home to watch Netflix before going to bed and never had a problem with WiFi connection or falling asleep quickly - the king bed was very comfortable! Sunday was our last day, and Charles let us check out at 2pm instead of 11am so that we could squeeze one more hike in before heading back home to flat land. We loaded the dogs up and took them to hike Mary's Rock (highly recommend!), then went back to Uncle Buck's for breakfast and bloody Mary's :) We also stopped into the Gathering Grounds for a hot coffee and wished we would have known that they served food! It was a neat, quaint little cafe with great coffee, fantastic scones, and we even got a piece of bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie - TO. DIE. FOR! From there, we went back to the cottage, loaded up our belongings, cleaned the cottage as best we could, and headed back North. Charles did offer to take our trash for us since the dump was closed on Sunday, but we ended up just taking it with us and disposing of it when we got home. We really didn't have that much to begin with, and none of it was food/stunk, so we didn't mind. Charles was a lovely host and super easy to communicate with; we're already planning our next trip back! Heck, we have to make use of the Shenandoah National Park pass that we paid for valid through next December!!

    Ashley2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is close too all the great tourist attractions, and hiking trails. We especially appreciated how close it is to Shenandoah River State Park which has some of the best views my wife and I have ever seen! The hot tub was very clean and well maintained. It is the perfect spot for a mountain getaway. Easy check-in, relaxing and cozy!

*NEWLY RENOVATED* Stunning mountain views & natural light pour into this updated midcentury home. You can see the view from any angle within the open concept living room/kitchen. The warmth of the original wood floors set against the industrial yet rustic kitchen & cool, relaxing colors throughout the home create a soothing atmosphere for ultimate relaxation.
As the name implies, this cabin is at the top of a mountain. From Mountain Top's 2,000 foot elevation you can see for miles over the Shenandoah Valley, River & Blue Ridge Mountains. This unique property also borders the Shenandoah National Park!
  • Wonderful cabin getaway. Make sure to take advantage of the hot tub, beautiful waterfall hike, and GORGEOUS sunsets. Pairs well with wine and friends. Please note: the spiral staircase is beautiful, but a little narrow so just be careful (they have step grips which are great and very helpful). Overall had a wonderful time, host was responsive and helpful with answering all of our questions. Hope to come back again soon.

    Shelley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The view has to be one of the best in the valley and it’s prime for star gazing as well. Caroline also answered all my questions via the air bnb chat very quickly so it was good to have that communication for anything we needed. We didn’t hVe dish soap she was able to get the onsite manager to stop by with more soap so A+ service! The road up to the cabin is no joke (I don’t do much camping or outdoorsy stuff) but you just take it slow and you’ll be fine. I would recommend AWD or 4WD. Overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a low key vacation.

    Connor2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The setting was gorgeous and the trail easy to find. We loved sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars. If you can get up early enough to watch the sun come up and fill the valley, the light is great. The place was cozy and perfect for a romantic weekend away.

    Arianna2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay!! The cabin is very cozy and the view was incredible. I would DEFINITELY recommend a 4WD. I have a 4WD and had no issues, however my friend does not and she could not get her car up the mountain. Thank you Caroline!

    Sara2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house provided a perfect getaway from D.C. for the weekend. The hot tub was warm and ready when we arrived, and the clear skies provided for amazing stargazing at night. The house has all of the basic kitchen essentials, and made for a great weekend. We look forward to a return visit.

    Brandon2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a cozy/cute getaway, this is the place. It’s high enough on the mountain to give you the seclusion and views you desire, but also within a quick 15-20 minute drive from anything you may need! We especially loved the hot tub. It was just what the 7 of us in my group needed to reconnect and have a great time. We would definitely return!!!

    Natasha2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view! The house is well appointed, even without some of the little things. The bedrooms have great views, the hot tub is amazing, and the overall space is cozy. Definitely bring sheets and towels, plus any spices for cooking and coffee filters and paper towels. The road up is rough - we went in a truck without 4wd and were fine, but there were definitely some rough spots. Overall, loved it and would stay again!

The "Cabbin" of Mountain Home is a cozy, comfortable hiker-friendly B&B just 120 yards east of the Appalachian Trail, on Route 522 (Remount Road), Front Royal, VA. 6 beds in shared space. Reserve 1-6 beds here. See '"Cabbin" at Mountain Home B&B' to rent whole cabin. Occupancy and meals taxes are included in the listing price.
The “Cabbin" is a newly renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, most people rent individual beds for a night or two. We've hiked the trail and know to provide hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, shampoo, soap, ride into town, breakfast, etc. Walk-ins are welcome, but it's always best to call or e-mail ahead so that we can coordinate. With a paid deposit, you can rent the whole "Cabbin" – look for this as a separate listing on AirBnB. The 2nd floor has 4 twin beds and a small, full bathroom. Downstairs is a small kitchen and dining area and a space with 2 futon beds and a small library. The space is air conditioned (or heated, depending upon the season). For before and after pictures of the (historically named) "Cabbin" (and before and "in progress" pictures of the main house) look for us at: Mountain Home in Front Royal. We also operate a full B&B from the main house.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are just a 4-mile hike to Shenandoah National Park and canoeing, kayaking and rafting are available on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal. We have rehabilitated the 1847 historic Greek Revival Style farmhouse on the property into a full B&B. There are 5 other buildings on the property including a chicken coop and sheep shed which we are also going to repair and restore. We are happy to provide tours. The property is on the National and Virginia historic registers as "Mountain Home".
  • An amazing space and environment!! I loved everything about my stay, especially the breakfast!

    Brigit2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott are great hosts. Communication is excellent and makes the whole check-in process and stay extremely easy. I’ve stayed in both the “Cabbin”, and the Main House. Extremely clean, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay. My schedule had me leaving extremely early, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of the breakfast menu; however Lisa and Scott had prepared me a to go-bag with food, snacks, and a drink. You couldn’t ask for better hospitality.

    David2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had made this reservation same day and was extremely thrilled that Lisa and Scott accommodated me last minute! The cabin exceeded all my expectations and it was a pleasure to stay at such a fantastic and historic property! The breakfast and tour of the mansion was an added bonus! The owners truly care about their guests! I will definitely stay at this property again! Thankyou Lisa and Scott!

    Christopher2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott were incredible hosts! Something kept drawing me to stay at the Cabbin when I was feeling very indecisive about my selection, and I'm so glad I listened to my instincts! The stay was perfect, even more than I expected. Lisa and Scott were incredibly kind and thoughtful, providing great tips and recommendations for the area and hiking. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the pics of the cabin so I was so pleasantly surprised by the kitchen and bathroom in the Cabbin. Breakfast at the main house (an incredible historic beauty) was also such a nice surprise! Just the right balance between rustic/remote and great creature comforts. It could easily be renamed the Cozy Cabbin because it was so warm and inviting. I didn't want to leave. I'll be back again for sure ... and now it will be like visiting friends!

    Andrea2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott were so lovely! The cabbin was a perfect little respite from sleeping in my car on road trip. They both took time in the morning to share lots of hiking advice and trail maps. Delicious breakfast! Interesting historical home.

    Kathryn2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay at a solid price. Needed to find a place last minute as I was entered into a pool tournament in Front Royal. Wound up getting a great night sleep, well rested and allowed me to win. Will be back next month
