BLACK BEAR LODGE ON THE AU SABLE RIVER SLEEPS: 4 BEDROOMS: 1 (queen in master & bunk bed in hall) BATHROOMS: 1 *RIVERFRONT (Au Sable River is difficult to access) *TV with CABLE ONLY, NO WIFI MARCH 2020-For our guests piece of mind regarding the recent Covid-19 outbreak this property will have a deep cleaning and a 3 day grace period in between stays now through May 1st. in order to insure that the property is virus free. Just 100 feet off County Road 612 in Frederic (Crawford County), you'll find this small, charming, classic cabin alongside a beautiful section of the headwater on Au Sable River. Yes, you can see the cars driving by and they often drive faster than we would like during the summer. There is another home across the street, visible from the cabin. The view of the Au Sable is often wide in the winter and narrow in the summer due to the leaves on the many trees surrounding the cottage. Although the cabin rests alongside the Au Sable River, is not easy to enter the river directly from the yard. The entry is in its natural setting and not maintained as an entry point. With a full kitchen, you can cook a great meal, catch your favorite shows with the cable service on the large flat screen TV. The full bath ensures a hot shower after a day on the river or hiking in the woods. There is a queen bed in the main bedroom, built in bunks in the hall that kids adore (the 2nd sleeping area) and a futon in the living room. Enjoy sitting on the patio with your cup of joe or grilling dinner while you catch glimpses of the river down the hill. At night, gaze upon the stars at the fire pit area. Enjoy the river right outside your door. Walk out to the river to cast your rod or set your canoe or kayak on the Headwaters of the Au Sable– known as the Blue Ribbon trout stream. Be care walking down to the river, the first part is steep. The public access to the river is across the bridge (see map) for easier and safer entry to the river.” Try your luck at the 'Holy Waters' in Grayling or the Manistee River down the road just 4 miles from the cabin. If golf is your activity, the cabin is only minutes from the award winning golf courses in Grayling, Gaylord and Shanty Creek. In the wintertime, snowmobilers will enjoy the miles of state trails nearby. The closest trails are Trail 679 & Trail 7, just 0.5 mile east of the cabin- See map photo. Not only are Snowmobiling/ATV Trails nearby, the legendary “Swamp III & Frederic Inn” located down the road- walking distance. If you enjoy downhill or cross country skiing, we have nearby Hanson Hills (Grayling), Treetops (Gaylord), Shanty Creek and Boyne. If the family wants to go tubing, Hanson Hills offers both day and night service. With “one of the best” state parks only 9 miles away, Hartwick Pines State Park, offers scheduled events and activities year round. Enjoy the museum, gift shop, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, picnicking, birding, hunting, and fishing during the day and return to your comfortable cabin in the woods to relax. Fishing: Situated in the Northeastern quadrant of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the fabled Au Sable River watershed boasts of nearly 180 miles of blue-ribbon trout water, making it the state's and one of the countries most renowned trout fisheries. Winding through a gently contoured wooded landscape from its freestone headwaters north of Fredric to its frequently impounded tail stretch funneling into Lake Huron, the river is large and varies greatly in size and characteristics along its length. On the Au Sable, one can expect a healthy dose of small to medium-sized rainbows, browns, and brookies, with the chance of tying into a football-sized brown -- not to mention the healthy influx from Lake Huron's most important steelhead run. The Black Bear Lodge is at the headwaters of the Au Sable River. (Fredrick to Grayling) The headwaters of the Au Sable, just north of Frederic, mark the beginning of a nearly 80-mile stretch of blue-ribbon trout water. These waters are classic American freestone in nature, clear and gravel-bottomed, dominated by brook trout with the occasional brown trout. Pressure along this 13-mile stretch from Fredrick down to Grayling is minimal thanks to other local freestone attractions and limited access. At Grayling, the river bends eastward towards its Lake Huron descent. Just below, the East Branch injects a welcome shot of cold water. Unfortunately, both sun-wilted humans and trout alike revel in fresh, cold river water making the fabled fishing town of Grayling a haven for canoeists and water fanatics. Luckily, the trout have grown accustomed to the ruckus and success can be easily achieved in this area. The last Saturday in April marks the opening of trout season for this part of the Au Sable. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS A/C: Window unit only. Ceiling fan and box fans help keep it cool. Cable/Satellite TVs: Yes! There is cable TV only! NO WiFi Cell phone service: Generally good, however, it can get spotty. Just walk out the back door and start fishing! On the part of the Au Sable where the cabin is located, the trout fishing season opens the last Saturday in April. Experienced trout fishermen do well. Bring your poles. Fishing License: You can purchase your fishing license online at the Michigan DNR website. Grill: Charcoal grill provided. Please bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid. (Not available in Winter) Handicap Accessible: Space may be too tight for a wheelchair, however it is a great space for those that have limited mobility as it is a one level property. Linens: Yes, we provide you with basic sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are particular about the thread count of your sheets, let us know, and we will make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. • Freshwater’s place is amazing and cozy. The river in the back yard is perfect for exploring and getting out in the woods for a few hours. You are close to restaurants and state parks but far enough away to not have a lot of neighbors. We would definitely come back and stay here. It was very clean and inviting.

  • Beautiful setting on the river and close to the snowmobiling trails.

  • This is the second time I've stayed here, and it wont be the last. Spotless, stocked, and secluded, exactly what I was looking for.

  • Really cozy place in a great location. Awesome amenities and really exceeded our expectations. Had a great time!!!

    Makayla2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked away in woods. Nice and private and good place to relax. Close to state park for hiking and also to many cross country skiing trails and snowmobile trails. Pellet stove worked great. Lots of amenities. Bed is a bit soft and caves in middle slightly but good enough for short stay.

    Jeni2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing time at the Bonfire Holler!! Loved the space, so great for cooking our own meals. The bed was super comfy! We would love to return soon! Perfect for a northern Michigan getaway 💜

  • 🎵Holler at your bonfire!🎵 My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay so much we created a jingle for our trip. This cabin is very charming, we stayed for a weekend in the winter for a quick cross country skiing trip. It is only a 7 minute drive to Forbush Corner, which has great skiing and friendly staff. The cabin was just like shown in the photos. Very clean and all the amenities we needed. The cool pellet stove was very rustic and let us warm. We cooked nice dinners while staying and also took advantage of their free waffles which was a great touch. Kyle was even so helpful to plow to make sure I could get out of the snow filled driveway so I could get home ok. Thanks, we hope to visit again in the future. Highly recommended and a great value.

    Jason2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very cozy and perfect for a weekend away. Kyle was quick to answer messages as well. The table in the main room was perfect for playing big board games!

    Maggie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bonfire Holler was a beautiful stay in the woods, but close to hiking/snowmobiling trails and restaurants. The house has all of the essentials (and then some) and the Kyle and Miranda are extremely responsive to your every need. I would definitely stay again.

Our log cottage on beautiful Blue Lake in Kalkaska County Mi is a wonderful place to stay. If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. You will hear the loons calling through out the day. The cottage sits on 100' of lake frontage. Blue Lake is an all sports lake that also connects to two other lakes-North Blue to the North and Little Blue to the South. ATV trails and snowmobile trails are just down the road from the cottage. The area also has many golf courses, wineries, and casinos.
Our Log Cottage on Blue Lake is a very quaint cottage. From the minute you enter the entryway you will love the beautiful log details through out the cottage. The cottage is very clean and every room pretty much has a view of Blue Lake. Jeanne and I enjoy sharing this beautiful area with our guest.
The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. There is abundant wildlife in the area. Watch out for deer, black bear, turkeys, foxes, racoons, coyotes, loons and crains. The neighborhood has many inland lakes and we are only 3 miles from the Manistee River. The area is also very hilly and senic.
  • Great location and very clean. Would love to stay here again in the future

  • Great place to stay with a group. Nice open floor format so everyone is included. Beautiful view of the lake.

  • Gorgeous location right on Blue Lake. Spent hours on the bench by the lake sipping wine in the evenings and coffee in the mornings. Had dinner at the Hideaway on Starvation Lake just down the road. We can’t wait to plan our ext stay!

I call this my modern knotty pine cottage on the AuSable River. Cable TV in 2 bedrooms and living room and Wi-Fi.
Located on the AuSable River, kayaks and canoe for your use. Deck with gas grill and furniture. Fish the famous AuSable right in your front yard. Close to boating, bike trails, golf, Hartwick Pines State park, hiking trails and snowmobile trails. Deer, turkey, swan and eagles in your front yard.
Quiet residential area, wooded, private dirt road.
  • I can't begin to recommend this place enough. The pictures definitely don't do it justice. One of our favorite air bnbs we've ever stayed in.

    Jacklyn2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place to get away from the normal noise of society. You won’t be disappointed what so ever while staying here.

    Mason2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is gorgeous and was everything I could have asked for. The house was so clean and cute that I really didn’t want to leave. The backyard is beautiful & especially peaceful, even in the cold winter. I highly recommend staying in this cottage if you get a chance.

    Emily2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I travel for business about six months out of the year. This space was perfect for the hotel snob I have become and didn't want to stay at any of the local hotels. Communication with the host was great and check-in/out was extremely easy. If available, I highly recommend choosing this place when coming anywhere close to Grayling.

    James2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This home is as pictured and a bit more. It is bigger than we expected and could host a larger group. It is nestled in a beautiful setting in the woods. The two full baths and laundry area are also great for larger groups! It is super close to both xc skiing and a small downhill ski area at Hanson Hills. A great location for outdoor activities! We highly recommend this home for your visit to the Grayling area.

    Van & Leigh2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really a great place to stay in Grayling! The house is decorated really cute ( like you would exoect for a northern Michigan cabin. ). We stayed in the winter time but would love to come in the summer since the Au Sable river runs through the back of it.

    Jean2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A charming place. It would take all weekend to find and appreciate all the details. Only regret was that the third bedroom was pretty small.

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

  • This place is the perfect quiet, relaxing getaway! We got to enjoy the last bit of snow. The dogs loved it! Craig's property is secluded and beautiful. Perfect for exploring or just being lazy by the fire. We were already talking about going back up in the Fall when the leaves change! Plus, Craig was an amazing host. He answered all our questions and gave great local recommendations. Thanks for everything, Craig!

    Kelly2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Craig was a great host!! We hit a pretty bad snow storm on our way there and he made sure to clear the driveway and the sidewalk for us. The cabin was very spacious and cozy. It had everything we needed and more. It was a beautiful time there and our 2 dogs had plenty of room to go crazy and explore. Would love to go back in the summer time and enjoy even more of the property.

    Kendel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful quiet getaway in Craig’s cabin. We were able to explore a little around the wooded area and allow the dog to have a blast in the snow.

  • Nice cabin, good location on beautiful, private land! We especially enjoyed the snowshoes, the wood fire and our time in the woods!

    Celia2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Craig’s cabin is perfect for those looking for a secluded, peaceful stay in a cozy environment surrounded by nature. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and felt the location was perfect. Situated far enough away to feel secluded but still nearby to a few bars and restaurants.

    Amy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Craig's cabin is cozy, charming and wonderful! Rustic yet clean. He's done much to make your getaway as relaxing and fun as possible: a wealth of dried firewood, snowshoes, two cozy sofas for relaxing, good reading lights, a selection of movies, even an ongoing challenge that is passed from guest to guest. If you don't relax and have fun here, you're doing something wrong. The location is peaceful and beautiful, our bed was comfy, the kitchen well-stocked. We hope to return again and again.

Winter: Snowmobile from the front door to the trails! Or located just a short ride from the trailhead. Hansen Hills skiing and snow tubing located nearby, many Friday nights are just $2 rentals and lift tickets (or try $5 snowtubing!). Located 2 blocks from the lake (short walk), with road-end access. Close enough to the lake to enjoy it, but still secluded enough to have a nice campfire and family cookout without the wind. Boat launch is a short drive away. Two rivers (one in each direction) go through Grayling, both offer excellent canoeing/kayaking experiences. Great fishing in both the lake and the rivers. ATV trailhead located close by with great trails all around. Fall: Start your color tour here! Cottage is also surrounded by state land available for hunting. Duck hunting is also popular in the area.
  • Great place to stay. It was exactly what we needed for our weekend.

  • Great stay! Wonderful weekend skiing, house was spectacular and spacious, but cozy, too! Games kept the family occupied at night and plenty of room for parking. Hope to stay again soon :) Thanks Stephanie!

  • This home is exactly was is placed in the ad. It was remarkably clean with nice touches. We used it in the winter so cannot write about the lake. We would rent it again if ever needed.

  • Fantastic place. We got stuck and the owner was there to help us instantly, Jeff is a great guy. The place is absolutely awesome, not only for the price but just because of how much room there is along with the general comfort of the house. 1/4 mile from a trail that takes you to trail seven. Very convenient for snowmobiling. I highly recommend

  • Super clean nice and local to downtown

    Max2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie's place was great for our family of 6 (four boys ages 7 months, 4, 6 and 8). We had more than enough space and the basement game room was the perfect spot for family hang out time in the evenings, and to keep our older boys entertained while we unpacked/packed. The house is equipped with anything you would need during your stay, from extra pillows and blankets, to fully stocked kitchen (cooking supplies, seasonings, coffee ect), and little extras in the bathroom (soap, lotion, hairdryer). The laundry room came in handy with my 7 month old's messes. The beds and all the furniture were in good shape and comfortable. This was the best Airbnb experience our family has had so far.

    Jillian2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place near a beautiful lake! Stephanie was very quick to respond and was a joy to work with. Place was great for our family!

  • Hilltop was perfect for my boyfriend and our 5 kids! So much space and wonderful amenities for keeping the kids occupied from our downtime in Grayling. Would definitely stay here again!

Jeanne and Chad are both great hosts... very accommodating and friendly while giving as much space as you would like. • We had a great weekend in Grayling. Caroline’s place was clean, had ample lake frontage, and everything we needed in a cabin Up North. Would stay again for sure!

    Brian2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • A nice quaint and cozy cabin. We were only there for 2 nights and wish it could've been longer. Such a relaxing place to stay!

    Julie2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the time that we spent in Caroline’s little cabin. We felt that she went above and beyond in every category. The place was sparkling clean, the amenities were cute and fit the space nicely. Honestly, the cabin was outfitted better than we could have ever asked for, with absolutely everything from dishes and cookware, to extra towels and toilet paper provided. The television and cable was much appreciated on rainy days. The location, literally steps from Lake Margrethe, and about 15 minutes from downtown grayling/Camp Grayling can’t be beat. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

  • Sherry is a great host with an amazing place - she went out of her way to give us access to kayaks, life jackets, rain jackets and so many other wonderful things. The house is located in a serene location - makes you feel out of the world, especially the thousands of stars that get to see in the night. We drove to sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore everyday and got to see so many deers on the way. We personally made a mistake of overlooking the "no Internet" part (totally our fault!), but the cellular coverage was so good that we were able to work using just phone Internet (we are graduate students, so work follows us everywhere!).

    Meenakshi2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This quaint cottage was filled with so many amenities and really had everything we needed (and some things we forgot to bring). We were in town for a music festival, and the kitchen was very handy so that we didn't need to buy so much food at restaurants, etc. We walked the short trip to the lake to swim and kayak and had a campfire in the evening. We had a wonderful time!

    Christine2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rented Sherry’s cabin for family to stay in for a week. They enjoyed their time there. Plentiful amenities made the stay comfortable, location was easy to get to with plenty of parking. Less than 15 minutes to downtown grayling and camp grayling. Sherry was a pleasure to rent from.

  • This cabin was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. It was so beautiful and clean. We will definitely be back and would recommend it for everyone!

    Cal2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is such an amazing place to stay! The cabin is set in the woods right next to the river with no other cabins immediately nearby, so if you are looking for a secluded cabin in a tranquil setting, this is it! There is a gazebo and fire pit just outside the cabin, and if you head down the stairs to the river there is another firepit at the dock. You can easily fish off the dock, so this would make a great spot for fishing! The cabin itself is very cozy and there is a great view of the river through the big glass windows. We brought a number of cooking materials just in case, but we didn't need to as the cabin was well stocked with the items we needed to cook with (pots, pans, etc.) The cabin was immaculate and the lounge chairs, couch, and beds were very comfortable. FYI the lounge chairs by the fireplace recline👍 Jeff and Beth were as prompt, professional, and kind as could be when communicating about our stay at the cabin. They certainly are super hosts! We will definitely be staying here again!

    Anthony2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • To everyone that is thinking about staying at this cabin, expect to have everything you want plus More.... My family and I were in shock to see how we didn’t have to leave the cabin for things we thought we would have to grab, this cabin has it all better then our own homes lol

    Rucci2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • My dad, brother, sister and I spent a week at Beth and Jeff’s house. It was absolutely wonderful. Check-in was smooth and easy. The house was VERY clean and ready for our arrival...there was even wine and banana bread - and music playing when we arrived! Exactly as described on AirBnB. Really very cozy house! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for our evening meals. The location is FANTASTIC. Right on the Au Sable river. The yard is very well maintained...beautiful, quiet, and close to amazing fishing. There is a fire-pit near the house, and a second fire-pit right next to the river. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone planning a gathering with friends, family, a romantic get-away, fly fishing trip or a peaceful escape in to nature.

  • This is definitely a home rental space. I felt like a I was staying in someone's home. There is a full kitchen with appliances and supplies to make food, the areas are very spacious and clean, and the overall experience was just comfortable and cozy. Its a great place to stay if you have a larger group traveling and is not too far from the town of Gaylord. Kathleen was very helpful and responsive when we had questions. We had a great experience!

  • We had a great time in Gaylord at Porters Place! Everything was very clean! Location was good and it wasn’t too far into town for restaurants and grocery, but expect to be technology free unless you go into town as WiFi and cell service can be a struggle depending on what cell carrier you have. Very close to snowmobile trails. It was a relaxing and beautiful weekend and we would definitely come back!

  • House was nice; however, if you're looking to be secluded in the woods, keep in mind there is another house on the same property that shares the same driveway. Not that the owners were intruding on our privacy, it just would be nice to see that in the pictures listed online and not find out when you get there, you have a neighbor next to you.

My wife and I were looking for a place to unplug and relax with our newborn and this place delivered. The amenities were great and the location was incredible. Everything you need right here! About 45 minutes from Traverse City—easy commute. Don’t sleep on this place! You won’t be disappointed!

  • Love this place! If you like peace and quiet on the lake this place is for you!

    Lisa2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage on a quiet lake. Very clean with all bedding, towels, and kitchen basics provided. Stylish and cozy decorations. Absolutely loved the kayaks, we used them everyday! Would definitely recommend and book again, it’s very peaceful up there. Angela is a great host and thought of every detail!

    Jaclyn2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very good. We were seeking a quiet and peaceful setting to unplug for a week and this place hit the spot. The lake was smaller and quiet - no big noisy boats - and the deck overlooking it was a great place to eat meals or sip coffee. Plenty of things to keep the kids busy. While the location is not next door to a city or town, they're just 30 minutes away, and the high speed internet was helpful to be able to check in on email, etc. We would definitely stay again in the future.

    Matt2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Angela has everything you need for a great trip!

  • Great space in the house! Not to far from Torch Lake. The water off the dock is beautiful! Extremely clean! Can’t wait to go again.

  • The house was beautiful, and exceeded my expectations. The views were amazing, and so was the shower. Kenneth prompt, and helpful as a host. It was a great stay, we would stay again without a doubt!

    Brandie2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth was host! He answered my questions immediately. The house offers all the comforts of home in a quite lake house setting. The lake offers sandbars yet deep enough for skiing. The house is clean, modern and large enough for 8. I highly recommend you check this place out💕

Cozy cabin on the main stream of the AuSable River 3 miles from the bright lights and shopping district of downtown Grayling. The main cabin sleeps 5 in 2 bedrooms but you can expand the accommodation to host another 7 guests by adding the bunk house and sauna.
You are right on the main stream of the AuSable River not only famous for it's fly fishing but family friendly canoeing down to the many boat launch's down river.
  • The location of the cozy cabin is so beautiful, the cabin is very cozy. Everything we needed was there. John was very helpful in recommending restaurants. Overall a super relaxing experience and we definitely will go again!

    Gabriele2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • "Cozy"it is! I loved that I could start each morning in an oversized chaise in front of the gas fireplace and still have a great view of the river! Everything was very clean. There are lots of open shelves and hooks for personal items in the bathrooms and kitchen. The king bed was very comfortable. Inside the house is extremely quiet. The deck on the water has soft furniture. You can't see the highway traffic but you can hear it, but it's not terrible. The location was great for proximity of town restaurants and grocery store. Normally we would cap off a long day of fishing at a microbrew, but we could not wait to get back to the Cozy cabin to enjoy it's glory!

    Tina2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place close to everything you might need. Awesome host!

    Josh2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a great time at John's cabin plus bunkhouse and we loved being right on the river. We were outside most of the time, but the inside of the cabin was very nice as well. The kitchen was very good size and gave us a great place to cook our meals. We all slept well and the beds were very comfortable. This place was a great find!

    Rhonda2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and unwind. Beautiful scenery. I liked the kitchen set up and large counter space. Loved drinking my coffee in the morning over looking the Au Sable River!

    Wendy2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • John, our host provided us a little bit of Heaven In Grayling Michigan. We had beautiful sun raises and sunsets on the dock while watching the ducks and geese parading down the AuSable River. His cabin provided easy river access for your canoes and kayaks. A Great location for day trips to Traverse City and Mackinac. John provided great tips for food and and places to go. Everything was great. Great Host. Great Place.

    Robert2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible setting on the river, gracious host, nicely appointed home, welcoming environment. We loved our time at John’s place and plan to return.

Cozy cabin in the woods on quiet full of nature lake. Sit in the swing and relax, then have a bond fire and make smores. Lovely kitchen to cook in dinner or places close by to go out to eat.
Cabin is well kept and very cozy. A great family place away from it all. The cabin is also close to many northern mi golf courses, rivers, lakes, bike trails, orv trails , and the main snowmobile trail. Great location

  • A great log cabin located in a quiet , serene surrounding just beside a lake.. The decor and the ambiance really takes you back but with all the modern amenities you never have to worry about a thing.. Close to the Otsego lake state park and just 14 mins drive to Walmart and other stores makes your life easier. Most importantly the host was great. Excellent communication, prompt responses, ease of check-in, checkout for a good price. a nice fire pit, a Gas grill, wooden benches, and most importantly enough room and beds for a big group. Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice and peaceful stay away from the daily city life.

  • Beautiful, clean, cabin! We grilled out on the grill and had s’mores in the fire pit! I saw a bald eagle over the lake, and we watched many types of water birds right in the backyard. Beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchen and family rooms were just perfect for relaxing and spending time with family! I loved the family room out back and spent time there in the mornings watching the wildlife! The bathroom was well equipped and spacious! Thank you for a lovely time. We’ll be back!

  • If you are staying in Kalkaska— THIS IS THE PLACE! We stayed here with our friends for a wedding and this house was perfect. The garage is an awesome place to hang out, play pool or cards, and they have tons of games. The master bedroom is huge and contains the second bathroom so if you’re figuring out pricing rooms per couple, make sure to charge accordingly for this space— it’s a whole wing of the house! Jenny was an awesome host, very responsive. The house is perfect for a boys trip, family getaway, or just a bunch of friends enjoying the beauty of Kalkaska for a wedding as we were. If I were to give advice for future visitors, bring coffee and shampoo. Five stars!

1 mile from the Blue Bear snowmobile trails! Leave your trailers at our place and head to the trails on your sleds. Bear Lake beach access. Dingman's Bar is less than a mile away along with Shirley's Café. The Bear's Lair has gas and amazing pizza. The Blue Buck will meet most any last minute food or adult beverage needs ;) A spacious kitchen is perfect for cooking in and there is plenty of dining seating. Full sized washer and dryer for all those wet clothes and glove and boot liner dryers.
Currently we have three twin beds, one queen sized bed and a queen pull out couch. Add our air mattress for two more guests. We sleep nine easily. Tons of storage space for long-term rentals. A walk-in shower is ideal for older guests. Large kitchen for cooking in, an extra full-sized refrigerator in the utility room. Room for twelve to dine comfortably. We have tons of land for parking sleds and ORV/ATVs and trailers. You can leave right from our property to access the Blue Bear Trail Head and avoid the parking mess. You can walk to Bear Lake public access for ice fishing or in the summer. WARNING- the hill you have to go over to get to our house has been used as a jump by snomobilers. This resulted in multiple fatalities as a sled went through the windshield of a blazer. If the neighbors see you jumping that hill they will call the police.
Bear Lake is in the top five of cleanest lakes in Michigan, which is saying a LOT. We are a destination point for the mid-west and nationwide. You will be less than 1/10 of a mile from public access at Bear Lake and guests will be able to negotiate private lake access in the summer ;) WARNING- the hill you have to go over to get to our house has been used as a jump by snomobilers. This resulted in multiple fatalities as a sled went through the windshield of a blazer. If the neighbors see you jumping that hill they will call the police.

Completely furnished large home. Great for your 2017/2018 Winter Snow Mobile Trip to Northern Michigan. We offer ice fishing as well on the famous Lake Margrethe. Known for it's abundant pan fish, muskies, pike and walleye. Excellant summer getaway located directly across the street from the lake with open public access to the lake approximately 300 ft from the front door. Pontoon jet ski and boat available from several local companies.
Fully furnished and able to accommodate up to 10 guests. Gorgeous view and convenient public lake access.
Quiet street with very little traffic. Appr 10 homes total on N Lakeshore dr. ORV trailhead 1/2 mile east on M72
  • Pros: Spacious house. Close to the lake. There is a public access area within walking distance and boat ramp minutes away. Was a great location for us being right in between family at a cabin on the Manistee River and the city of Grayling. Cons: Ants Right on m-72, noisy

    James2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time using the house for our annual golf trip. The Lake is beautiful across the road and neighborhood is very safe and laid back. Backyard isn't anything special good enough for bags. We brought a boat which was a great move with a huge island, not over populated lake big and great for water sports we skied and tubed. House is clean only one AC unit in one bedroom upstairs, some bed frames were broke but weren't so bad you couldn't sleep on it. Great location for golf courses especially Forest Dunes.
