Thanks for checking out the cabin. After having stayed in an awesome rural bed and breakfast in Kentucky, I always came back refreshed in body and spirit. My hope is that each of my guests will leave with that same feeling. Please feel free to message me with any questions that you might have before booking.
The cabin is just off the highway in farm country, and its main "calling cards" are the peaceful setting and cozy interior. You may, however, hear road noise if you are relaxing outside.
  • We had such a great experience. This place is clean and homey. We love the fire place, the strong internet connection, all the antique items, the Abraham Lincoln memorabilia, that you feel like living in the forest even though it is only a very short distance to the main street, and the record player. Would always come back here when in this part of Michigan. Thank you Ben.

    Jens2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Like many others here I read the reviews and felt great about the booking, and Ben's responses before we arrived were very prompt. The amenities, cleanliness, and comfort exceeded all of our expectations! Hoping to be back soon.

    Nathan2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Before booked our trip I read all these wonderful reviews. Our stay was still better than I expected! BEN'S PLACE IS GREAT. He had snacks ready for us and the whole home was just so welcoming. We felt very comfortable and cozy staying in by the fire.

  • This place is an absolute gem!!! Ben is a great host, and there are MANY extra touches which make this an awesome place to stay.

  • Nothing short of amazing. Ben has everything covers so all you have to worry about is relaxing and enjoying your stay.

  • A wonderful place to get away from the hectic lives we live

    Whisper2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin? We fell in love with this cabin and plan to return whenever possible! This spacious cabin is nestled in the cutest little red pine forest that just begs to be hammocked in. The warm interior is the coziest place, with details and character everywhere. A fully stocked record player, library, theater, and charming kitchen. All while still maintaining an inspiring, genuinely rustic feel. The thoughtful touches make it instantly feel like a home away from home.

You'll love how private our location is! The property is surrounded by woods and the river. We are on a no-outlet paved road which is great if you like to go for a walk or run. We are also a little over a mile from the Rails to Trails. The house was built in 2005 and has had only one owner. We don't have children so the guest rooms and bathroom are like brand new.
If you are a nature lover, you'll love to sit on the expansive deck and enjoy the sounds of the fast-moving Muskegon river; or maybe you'd prefer a campfire? Either way, you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods. If you sit long enough you might see the deer, eagle, turkey, and a wide variety of birds including woodpeckers and water fowl we share our peaceful setting with. If the weather permits you might try fishing, kayaking, or tubing!
Outdoor activities include fishing, kayaking, tubing, and bonfires. We are approximately two miles from the Rails to Trails and are located on a paved, no outlet road that is perfect for a quiet walk and/or jog. While we may not have a stop light, we do have a general store, pizza parlor, and antique shop nearby.
  • Not only is this beautiful home but Amy and her husband are wonderful people as well. I slept incredibly well and the amenities were thoughtful and useful. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a relaxing time.

    Scott2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • When we first stumbled upon this house on AirBnB, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. Amy & Dean are the most thoughtful, gracious hosts! They provided us with all the information we needed and showed us around. Their home is just perfect! Kitchen is a nice open space and contains everything one needs, including snacks and beverages! The beds are comfortable, bathroom and upstairs spaces are excellent. Location is incredible! Gorgeous view of the river! Amy & Dean had excellent restaurant recommendations and were of great help; even offered to give us a ride back from the bar if we needed it! They went way beyond to make our long-weekend comfortable and memorable. Thanks Amy & Dean for a wonderful weekend! We will be back!

    Angie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • All i have to say is, this place should be way more than what she asks for per night! Thank you so much Amy!

    Paula2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The best “Pure Michigan” has to offer... we had an amazing stay! Situated on the banks of one of Michigan’s great trout rivers, this exceptionally clean, and stylish home offered outstanding value as we explored Michigan scenery. Be it waiting for the deer to amble up the drive, or seeing American Bald Eagles fish the river... nature was on display. Amy is a relatively new host, but performed well above Super Host levels... we ate at 3 different recommended restaurants... all different, all offerings unique - highly rated experiences. As youthful professionals in the Community, Amy and her husband were wonderful hosts. Thuy and I are l look forward to returning... 😊👍!

    Leo2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very nice stay in Amy's charming lake view home. Amy is an extremely responsive and gracious host. She went out of her way to address all my questions with a beautiful smile. I would definitely recommend this home.

My place is close to family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the location, the people, the outdoors space, the ambiance, and the neighborhood. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
A historic (1870s) farmhouse style Village home, the house is compact yet feels spacious and open, particularly with its large rear deck, generous kitchen windows to welcome the morning sun, and side screened porch. Should you choose to cook, the kitchen is fully stocked for preparation of a snack or a full meal, service is provided for six persons. Central heating is available for spring and fall and cooler summer nights, each bedroom is equipped with a pedestal fan and window fan for rare warmer nights. Many books are available for perusal, I have a large collection of art related books that can be found at the top of the stairs on the left. Each bedroom is equipped with a bedside reading light and a clock radio. Two full bathrooms offer a choice of a tub upstairs or a shower down.
The Village of Hersey represents the best of small Michigan village life. Next door is a mill converted to a general store with all the basics, a deli counter, beer, wine and Larry the proprietor who always greets you with a smile and conversation. Upstairs from the general store is a huge space devoted to local crafts. A few steps in the opposite direction take you to the post office and a restaurant - River Junction - with an eclectic menu and a bar. A five minute walk brings you to either of two large, welcoming churches. A few short blocks to the north of the house is the Pere Marquette Rail Trail, a fully paved trail that runs E and W virtually across the state. At Reed City just to the W of Hersey, this trail connects with the White Pine Trail, another rail trail that runs N and S between Grand Rapids and Cadillac. Traverse City, Leelanau County and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore lie 2 hours to the N, close enough for day trips at one third the cost of accommodations there.
  • This is just such a wonderful place to stay, especially in the fall. I took a cup of tea out on the moonlit deck last night and listened to the river. The house is filled with art and books, too. I can’t wait ‘til my next visit.

    Suzanne2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Bruce's place. It was just as wonderful as our first stay. We look forward to staying at his place again in the future.

    Jennifer2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bruce’s house is by far my favorite Airbnb rental. I caught myself smiling as I read the witty notes Bruce left throughout the house - explaining idiosyncrasies about the old house, or the history of a piece of furniture. By the end of the trip I didn’t feel like I was renting from a stranger - I felt like I was staying with my super cool, stylish, well-read and ever entertaining friend. This house is not just a clean place to rest your head between sightseeing (although it works fine for that), this house is an experience. Take the time to enjoy it.

    Bevin2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is roomy & clean. A really nice & large deck has recently been added to the back of the house. Hersey is a very small town, but has a restaurant/bar just down the street with good food. The house is located less than 3/8 of a mile off of the Pere Marquette trail. The White Pine trail is an additional 3 1/2 mile bike ride to the west.

    Kenneth2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time in this well-maintained older home in Hersey. It is clean and comfortable and a great value. The host and caretaker are very responsive to inquiries and there were several updates from our first stay. We can't wait to return and try out the new deck! Hersey has a wonderful restaurant with great pizza, beautiful parks and bike trail, and a walk-in Little Free Library.

  • Very lovely

    Angela2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house is very cozy and there are convenient notes everywhere to help guide you through the house. My family stayed here to go kayaking down the Pere Marquette, and it was only a 30min drive to the Baldwin Canoe Rental. The hosts were very accommodating, responded to messages quickly, and made the check-in and check-out processes very smooth. It was the perfect place for our mini family vacation as there was plenty of seating in the living room, the kitchen was large for cooking meals, and there was a deck in the back of the house. Would recommend staying here if you have a large group!

    Karlie2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely charming, very comfortable historic home close to all the outdoor fun Michigan has to offer. The host is attentive and there are thoughtful touches all over the house to make the guest experience comfortable. I especially love the expansive back deck just off the kitchen—a perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise with a cup of coffee. The house is filled with antiques, art and books on virtually every subject. I have stayed here many times and will do so again!

Less than 2 miles from the Muskegon river to go canoeing or tubing down the river. There are 2 golf course about 5 -6 miles away .

  • We reserved this cute cottage at the last moment and when we arrived it was warm and ready for our stay even though it was in the low 20's outside! The cottage is very clean and decorated so cute. There were plenty of towels, washcloths, blankets, games, movies and even games you could use outside. I wish it was warm enough for us to enjoy the very nice fire pit and grill. I love how this cottage is so private. We would and already have recommended this place to our friends and family.

  • Cute and cozy definitely describes this place perfectly! We loved the cabin feel and found it to be quiet and peaceful. The place was clean and there was plenty of space for my son and dog to run around outside. Communication with owner was quick as well. Overall a great stay!

Welcome to my home! Nestled right next to Windover Lake and 80 other lakes in Clare County. I offer a spacious room with a double bed on the main floor. I also have a large kitchen with a dining table and a very big living room with lots of natural light. I am allergic to cats. A well-trained dog is allowed. I do not have any pets. Lots of space for parking a boat, ATVs, etc... Smoking is allowed outside on the decks (420 friendly). I have another room listed on here if you need another.
There is a gas grill on one of the decks that can be used as well as a picnic table and a fire pit for a campfire. The house is the perfect place to stay while you explore the many lakes, rivers, and trails in the area such as the 55 mile long Pere Marquette Bike-Trail, Muskegon River, Budd Lake, Lake George, Eight-Point Lake, and many more. Each lake has a boat ramp and parking. There are ATVs, Snowmobiles, Boats, Canoes and Kayaks all available to rent nearby. There are many family style restaurants nearby that I am happy to recommend. There are multiple golf courses nearby as well.
Several parks nearby for dog walking or picnics. Several delicious local ice cream shops. A fantastic shallow sandbar where you can anchor your boat and walk in knee deep water for hundreds of feet, or no boat needed and just walk from the beach (my personal favorite spot).

Nestled in a quiet/private subdivision in the central Michigan area for the perfect weekend get-a-way or as a central point for "day-trips." Maybe you have a student at CMU or Ferris? This spacious room on the upper floor has a shared bathroom that includes a shower. This room will accommodate no more than 2 adults and an infant/ young child. I do have a cat and dog who are not allowed in your room.
Peaceful home and neighborhood. Travel just 2 hours to 5 different casinos, 1.5hrs to Traverse City, Frankfort, Manistee, 45 min to Central Michigan University and Ferris State University. Located near Clare, known as the "Gateway to the North." There also a few "Mud-bogger" sites nearby.
This is a unique location for winter and summer: Skiing, snowmobiling, mud-bogging nearby. Doc & Tom Lake has excellent fishing. There are a few restaurants, bars and pizza shops For something more sophisticated, you may wish to have your meal prior to arriving

This unique, rustic chalet is full of charm, and sits on the all-sports Muskegon River/Rogers Pond. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and beautiful sunsets! Ideal for summer vacationers, hunters, fishermen, snowmobilers, nature lovers, color tour groups, or a great weekend getaway! Just a mile from White Pine Trail, cross-country skiing, nearby golf courses, state land, Ferris State University, and an abundance of lakes/parks. Downhill skiing and ATV trails are 35 to 60 minutes away.
This charming, rustic chalet was built in 1968 and boasts the beautiful stonework of the original owner. Gorgeous white-washed, tongue-in-groove pine ceilings, and dark beams throughout the chalet. We have renovated most of the house, since everything was original when we took possession in August 2017....a definite throw back to the late 60's! Easy to enjoy this charming and somewhat rustic chalet.
MI Chalet is located on Rogers Pond/Muskegon River in Stanwood, MI. It is an out-of-the-way place with lots of charm and beautiful views of the water.

You will have the entire basement-- two bedrooms, bathroom, small kitchen area, & living room-- to yourself. We are in a wooded setting a couple of miles from town. We are close to the Rails to Trails, the perfect place to walk or jog. We think you'll find the space peaceful & cozy! *Check-in says 4, but we can be flexible if needed. Just let us know what you would like to do, & we will try to accommodate. :)
If you stay in the area, we suggest you take a walk on the Rails to Trails, get an early morning cinnamon roll at Chuckwagon Diner, try a sub or stromboli from Pompeiis Pizza, & sample the pulled pork nachos & great beer at The Brewery downtown.
  • Tracie's home is one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed at! Such a beautiful home, and we had a huge space all to ourselves. Tracie did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. It was a perfect place to stay on our way up to ski at Caberfae--strongly recommend!

Cozy cottage on Muskegon River offers access to kayaking, tubing, biking, fishing, golfing, fire pit, spacious deck. There is nearby access to trailhead of White Pine Trail. Hershey & Big Rapids are within a 15-min drive for restaurants, groceries, chocolate shop & breweries. Sleeping arrangements include private bedroom w/double bed and 2 bunk beds in the loft, each w/double sized beds on bottom & twins up top. Perfect getaway from the buzz & bustle of everyday life. Come relax & enjoy!
The cottage is located on a peaceful private road. The overall vibe is quaint & very comfy. Large windows facing the river make for picturesque viewing. Outdoor seating is abundant w/ choice of large wrap around deck, lawn chairs & free standing lawn swing. Wildlife interactions occur regularly; watch bald eagles soar over the river, turkey families scoot through the yard & deer sleeping in the front yard.
    Very quite & friendly neighborhood.
  • The house was perfect, the setting with it being on the River was beautiful too. The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We have stayed in many Airbnbs from Cali to Maine and have yet to have a bad experience. I would most definitely stay here again. Thank you

  • Easy to just chill at the AFrame for a couple days and not go out too much. The view & location are enough in and of itself. Having a full kitchen with things to use was vital, we ended up cooking a bunch while we were there. Stayed mostly in the living space and wondering by the river. The rain hitting the AFrame’s roof late at was night was pretty enchanting. I’d love to make it a habit to just come back here whenever we needed it. It’s secluded & quiet but homey & easy to feel like yours for a little bit.

    Abi2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This charming A frame in the woods has everything you need for a relaxing getaway: beautiful scenery, proximity to hiking/biking trails, outdoor gear (kayaks, bikes, lawn games, tubes for the river), a fire pit, fully stocked kitchen and even fun activities for rainy days. Cristina was quick to respond to any questions and was a delightful host!

    Allison2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Come here, into the woods of this locale, to "live deliberately" as Thoreau wrote. Leave our noisier world behind and enter an escape of tranquility. This was my second trip to Michigan and a great find, clean place, with many amenities provided in the home.

    Tim2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't want to leave! What a magical escape. We booked a week at this cottage for our honeymoon, and it exceeded our expectations. The cottage was clean and cozy, and the view was stunning. The location was perfect because although it feels completely isolated from the town, there are still two neighbors on either side that keep you from feeling too isolated. The back yard is absolutely gorgeous, and we ended up cooking all our homemade meals in the kitchen since it was stocked with everything you might need to prepare a meal. We didn't expect to have no cell phone reception (although you can make emergency calls), but this disconnection turned out to be the best part of our trip. And the stars!! I have never seen that many stars, and the giant window allows them to shine in at night which was a magical touch. The town is less than an hour from Grand Rapids, which allowed us a nice day in town whenever we wanted a day out. We're already preparing to book again this winter!

    Laura2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you are considering booking this cottage, just do it! The most relaxing, peaceful vacation that I've taken in years. The area is extremely quite. There are neighbors closeby but they do not disturb you. We really never heard them. All you can hear is the constant sound of the river which was amazing. We found the place exactly as described and very clean. There are just enough amenities (pots, pans, plates, towels, etc) for you. There are games at the house and lots of activities in the shed at well. We took advantage of the grill, which was nice to have. As for activities, if you love the outdoors, this is the place to go. We rented kayaks to at J&Js and did a 1.5 hour trip down the river. We also brought our bikes and jumped on the white pine trail and biked 6 miles to Big Rapids, grabbed lunch at Raven Brewery (would highly recommend) and biked back. Lots of fishing, reading and frisbee as well over the weekend. Don't forget the host has bikes and kayaks but we chose to bring our own. Such a great stay. Loved the cabin. Loved the quite and the location with easy access to outdoor actitivies. Would really really recommend this place for those looking to get offline and get outdoors for peace and quite.

    Jennifer2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this generously appointed and stocked, adorable, and sparkling cottage. Situated on a quiet, clean and soft singing river, it was the most peaceful time we have had in years.

    Lisa2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described and the cutest cabin right on the river. The cabin is clean, cozy and welcoming from the moment you reach the door. Although secluded with limited service and no WiFi or TV, there is plenty to do while you are “disconnected”. We used the kayaks to spend an afternoon on the river at J&J’s river run (amazing service), we also biked the White Pine Trail. The setting is quiet with tons of wild life, the kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans you’ll need and the bed is very comfortable. So thankful we found this space to relax for a week and will definitely return!

We completed a full remodel of our cabin in 2019, with the best ideas from the cabins we have enjoyed staying in through the years. We think we have found the perfect blend of outdoor beauty and fun, and indoor comfort and rustic luxury. It has quickly become a place of rest and refreshment for us, and we always find it hard to leave. We're excited to be able to share our refuge in the woods with others who enjoy both the outdoors and the amenities of contemporary living.
The Cabin is also equipped with: Electric Stove/Oven; Full-size refrigerator; Dishwasher; Laundry Room with Washer and Dryer; Gas Grill; Coffee Maker; Hot water kettle; Toaster; Crock Pot; Hair Dryer; 2 Kayaks; Outdoor Furniture and a Fire pit
Clare and Osceola counties abound with outdoor activities including hiking; biking; fishing; golf; ATV and Motorcycle trails; skiing;now-shoeing and much more. Cadillac; Clare; Harrison and Evart are all within a half hour drive; Midland, Gladwin, Houghton Lake and Mt. Pleasant are within an hour. There are also several local eateries and a full grocery store within a 15 minute drive.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Jonathon’s beautiful pine-filled cabin. We found it to be very clean and very comfortable - beds and linens were excellent, kitchen well equipped, and the wood fireplace capped off the cosy relaxed vibe. There is a large deck overlooking the Muskegon River, and neighbours are a good distance away. Communications with Jonathon were very prompt and helpful, and check-in was hassle-free. We highly recommend this river side cabin experience!!

    Barbara2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan’s cabin is an absolute gem. The cabin itself is exactly what you need and want when getting away for a few days of rest, and the location is wonderfully secluded, but with easy access to a few small towns. Communication, check-in, amenities, and cleanliness were top-notch. Although I’d prefer to keep this as a hidden gem, I highly recommend Jonathan’s place for your next Northern getaway.

This new construction log home is close to snowmobiling, hunting, trails, mountain biking, state land and nature. The home is great for couples, families w/ kids and pets. Enjoy the on-property 1.5 miles of groomed trails through thick brush, dense woods, dozens of apple trees, open fields and near two ponds. After you settle in, enjoy the bon fire pit, target practice or just relax. Be sure to step outside at night and lay looking at the stars. You will never see as many in your entire life.
This home is a beautiful, new construction full log home. It has cathedral ceilings, dozens of apples trees, fields, two ponds, 1.5 miles of trails through thick brush and dense woods. It is set back 300 feet from the road and no other homes, roads or intrusions are visible. You will have complete privacy, surrounded by a beautiful piece of property.
There's no neighborhood. That's the point of this place. If you want a great bustling community, you're looking at the wrong property. If you want complete seclusion from neighbors and freedom to enjoy yourself, this is the place. The city of Evart and Reed City are not too far, so there are a few restaurants and bars that can be enjoyed, but overall i would recommend making some meals on the open campfire.
  • If traveling in the spring, I recommend a vehicle with 4 wheel drive for the driveway. It was a bit muddy for my little car.

  • Great place and everything in it. Interior is very well prepped. Instructions were perfect. An excellent getaway with nothing but nature around you. The drive up was slushy with melting snow, but we took it as part of the experience. Would love to go back in spring/summer.

  • A beautiful stay!!! We will be coming back for sure. The cabin is homey with a stylish appeal. We loved being able to watch the snow fall as we sipped on our coffees. There is so much wild life, and the stars shine bright. It was such a peaceful getaway.

  • This cabin was perfect for a weekend get a way with my family and friends. The views were great and the host was very kind and easy to communicate with.

    Mike2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the beuatiful views of the lake from inside and out at the cottage. The dock was conveniently located accross the street and the road traffic was minimal. Plus any traffic that would go by was below the house so it felt completely private. Jen was a terrific host and I cant say enough about the cottage and the lake!

    David2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s place was great! Kayaks, and fishing off the dock were perfect. She left some delicious snacks for us which was perfect because there aren’t an abundance of food options nearby.

  • This cottage is super cute. The views are stunning!! Everything you need is available to you for your stay (you provide the food). The space was clean and tidy. The home decor was modern and up to date, loved everything from the wall hangings to the bed spreads. If you are spending time on the water, there are kayaks, floats and life jackets available. I would love to stay here again.

    Kayla2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing time! Absolutely gorgeous views from the living room windows. Beautiful rustic/modern beach home with very comfortable beds and great amenities. The back deck was so relaxing at night to enjoy a family dinner. There is a resident bald eagle that flies over the house and lake everyday. Such a site to see! The amish carriages will trot through on Sunday morning on their way to church, we enjoyed waving and seeing a different culture. The lake is clear and the little beach area is perfect for the kiddos to play and swim. We enjoyed the blow up jump island and kayaks! While out for a morning paddle we saw loons and heard their beautiful song along with an amazingly nerve wrecking moment when one swan under my kayak! So cool. The neighbors are helpful, quiet and nice. The entire area is just beautiful and a perfect getaway. Jennifer was wonderful offering great tips for around the area, making sure we were comfortable and offered prompt communication from booking to checking out. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much Jennifer

  • Lovely slice of MI. We just spent a little time on the property, but it was a nice, well maintained place to rest for the evening. The RV is a bit older, but very clean, and well appointed. Exactly as advertised. It sits on a campground with cabins and camp sites, so expect a campground type experience, including a fire ring, picnic table, and a swimming/fishing hole. The hosts are wonderful, and came to meet us to make sure we were comfortable & had everything we needed for the night.

Set on the banks of the Chippewa River, the cottage it is perfect for kayaking or tubing or just sitting back and watching and listening to the flowing water. Great place to relax and collect your thoughts any time of the year. Also a great place to bird watch. Centrally located just 30 minutes to Mt. Pleasant (CMU, Soaring Eagle Casino) and Big Rapids (Ferris State University).
Open concept (750 sq. ft.) with views of the river from almost anywhere in the cottage. The entire cottage was remodeled in 2016. All appliances, furniture, and flooring are new. Two private bedrooms (Extra sleeping arrangements for an additional person can be made using the 6 foot bench in the family room). Nice open flow to the kitchen with a microwave, toaster oven and electric oven. Propane heat and wood burning stove as well as a window air conditioning unit to keep the place comfortable. 16x8 deck facing the river. There is also a charcoal grill for your use. Fire pit by the river. Plenty of parking in the driveway.
Nice and quiet area with a mix of full-time residents and vacation properties.
  • Great place to stay the weekend. Short drive to Mt. Pleasant. Only downside is the neighbors yappy little dog next door.

  • Went up here for a weekend get away and it was great. House was very clean and nice. Perfect for five people. If we had a problem Todd was very quick to respond. Would recommend this place and will be coming back for the summer!

  • Cozy cottage! Would like to return in the spring to fish off the deck!

    Bart2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tod's place is in a small neighborhood on a river. The place is great and Tod was very helpful. We had to stay to stay another night due to a plane cancellation and we contacted him directly. He took care of us staying another night immediately.

    Carl2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Todd's place was a great stay in a beautiful area. The cottage was very clean, cozy and comfortable and the river outside was a very peaceful sound and great place to relax and unwind on the porch at night.

    Lukus2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying in Todd's place on the river. We came up for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We had a delicious dinner, we were able to watch the football games that we wanted and made a fire . We only wish we could have stayed longer! It snowed pretty good Sunday morning for our departure and it would have been so nice to stay and have a fire and watch the snow fall all along the river. The cottage floor can be cold so bring some slippers with soles on them. The propane heater worked great, but it was even better to have a fire in the stove there. We loved being up here and our dog had fun playing with his friend next door. This place has become our little sanctuary to get away from the hectic day to day. Super affordable and just what your soul needs. We had plans to head to Murphy's Bar in Barryton if we couldn't get the Michigan/Ohio State game. We did have Fox to get the game at the cottage so we didn't go for the game, but instead ordered pizza from there later. It was great and my husband said the place looked nice inside. The reviews are great so if you need or want to get out - I would suggest this place. Overall, we had a great weekend. We spent some quality time decompressing, saw our friends we met up there the last time and celebrated the holiday with one of the best meals we have ever had along with great company. If you are looking for a reasonable getaway that really makes you feel up north and away from it all - this is your place!

This cabin is located within the 'Amish Country' and offers some sightseeing and traditional Amish markets as well. Some other ideas for fun include eating at the Herrick House in Clare, driving 45 minutes to Mt. Pleasant, or watching a movie at the old-time movie house in Clare. There are numerous options for fun around this cabin, and it all depends on how you want to spend your time at this lakefront getaway!

  • Robin's cottage was charming and relaxing. She has just the right mix of fun things to do, kayaking, canoeing, etc. and ways to enjoy relaxing. She has provided everything needed for a great vacation spot. The lake is literally steps away and is beautiful, with stunning sunsets and the amazing fishing as well as lots of loons and cranes to watch and listen to. I would definitely come back again! You can tell Robin has gone out of her way to make this a wonderful and welcoming cottage.

  • We had a fantastic time at this cottage. Our kids spent most of Labor Day weekend playing in the water. At night we sat around the fire and made smores. The lake is wonderful, the water is clear and the sandy bottom made for great swimming.

    Sean2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a family trip or group of friends.

    Katie2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Robin's place is great! The house had everything we needed and more for a group of 6 adults to have a fun weekend at the lake. The lake itself is beautiful and perfect for swimming. The hosts were really responsive and helpful. Everyone loved it and we'd all definitely stay again.

    Tom2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has one of the best views on the lake and is a great place to swim and enjoy the sunset.

    Christa2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful lake view. Host went above and beyond when a storm the night before our arrival caused a tree to block the road and took the power out. We can’t wait for the next time we can rent this cottage again.

    Bryan2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second consecutive summer we spent time at this cottage on Chippewa Lake. It’s simple and perfect for our family (two kiddos under 5)!! Clean, comfortable, shallow/clean beach, and local ice cream —- not to mention amazing sunsets in the evening. :)

    April2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The location was fabulous; the kitchen had EVERY item we needed to cook our meals. And walking to the village store for ice cream was delightful :) Lake access and view are both excellent! We highly enjoyed our stay.

  • We had a lovely and relaxing stay at Lydia's place! It was the perfect space for my five kiddos ages 1-18 and myself for a long weekend away. There are so many nice DVDs to choose from and lots of fun games to play. We had a great time doing both! I found the queen bed very comfy and it was nice there was a fan for white noise for my youngest and a space heater we used just to warm up the bedroom a big before we went to sleep. The fireplace was so cozy! We ordered pizza from Buckhorn Saloon, had brunch at The Whitehouse restaurant, bought donuts at Cops and Donuts, and stopped at Jim's Surplus just north of Clare. We also ate dinner at Birchwood Restaurant and got pasties at Kathy's Pasties. We don't need to eat for awhile! ;) Lots to see and do and also a lovely home to just stay home and relax at. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • This super cute and cozy cabin is the perfect place to escape from the stress of everyday life and relax, far from any distractions. We loved the fireplace and the full kitchen made it easy for us to cook our own food without having to venture out. She shower was super nice too!

  • Great private getaway! Loved every minute

    Cory2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful cabin! It's a spacious space, with 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and dining area. I love the look of the wood used, and kept touching tit and looking at it throughout our stay. Lots of modern amenities provided, as well as all the necessities of living somewhere for a weekend. Fridge, stove, TV, shower, etc. were all working as expected. The shower water pressure is a bit weak, but I believe the water is coming from a well, so that may explain why. The land the cabin is on is large and wonderful to explore, with paths leading all over and alongside rolling hills, fields of flowers, and interesting sights to behold (look for the hunting posts!). There's a stream running down the center of the property that was great to look at and walk in. The property is quiet, far away from neighbors, has plenty of space for parking, and gets REALLY dark at night! We flew a drone around the property and got some great shots! There's a nice deck in the back as well, and a fire pit to cook on. Some downsides to note: - You have to take your trash with you when leaving, so keep in mind to make room in your car and to find a place to throw it out. - There are a LOT of bugs at night. Turn out the lights so they scatter before heading outside in the dark. - There is no air conditioning, and only one fan (that we could find). The cabin is about 10 or so degrees warmer than the outside temps with the doors/windows closed (the host emailed us this tip prior to the tip, many thanks!), but if outside temps were 100+ degrees, it might not bearable inside.

  • Matthew and Katelyn's cottage was a great place to get away. The lake is really quiet and very relaxing. We went with three young children and the space was perfect for them. The access to the different kayaks, paddle boat, etc was a huge plus and allowed us to try a variety of activities. The cottage and bunk house were very clean and well kept. We had a great time! Thanks again :)

  • Nice quite place to get away from technology. They are quick to respond to all questions. We had an issue with the shower not draining and they sent someone out to fix it the same day.

  • This is a nice, quiet place with owner-occupied cottages. We were able to share the paddle boards and kayaks with the people who are there all the time. We had 4 kids (ages 10, 10, 11 and 12) in the bunk house which worked out great! This is not a place to party, as it is a family-friendly group of people. Descriptions are 100% accurate.

  • The Foot Rest Cabin was cozy and clean and had everything we needed for our family’s weekend trip!

    Leesha2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very nice. Guys fishing weekend, and the footrest cabin was perfect. The location is close to the major cities around. It was very clean and right on the river. We enjoyed our stay, and will be back

    John2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Footrest cottage is a peaceful getaway that’s still close to Big Rapids, Reed City, and Evart. We were able to go into town (only 10-15 minute drive) for dinner, and then come back to relax and sit by the river. There are two full bedrooms for friends/family sharing the house, and plenty of indoor seating and games for relaxing. We had strong cellular service the whole time (Verizon), but the beauty of the Muskegon River forced us to unplug. There are two fire pits—one close to the house and one by the river. It’s a bit of a walk to get down to the river, but the walk is manageable and a gradual slope. There is a TON of space by the river, so guests could bring corn hole or other lawn games to keep the kids busy. We really enjoyed visiting Reed City Brewing, and hit several restaurants in Big Rapids (Raven Brewing, Schuberg’s, especially). Seventh Street Coffee in Evart is also worth visiting... great breakfast sandwiches. We also recommend visiting Hemlock Park in Big Rapids. There’s a river walk and big playgrounds for the kids. Overall, Gwen’s cottage is a quiet place to rest that’s close to restaurants, parks, and shops. It’s the best of both worlds!

    Christina2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I am almost afraid to say how wondeful, relaxing and serene this cottage and the riverside was becuase I would like to think it will be available when we retutn to this area. The cottage was very spacious and comfortable outfitted with evrything one would need to get away and relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Thanks Gwen for this opportunity.

  • The home is in a remote area about 10 miles out from many stores and restaurants. This is a very nice feature of getting away, but is helpful to know when you stop for groceries, etc. There is a convenient store close by. The home has so many nice features and recreational activities including canoes and a beautiful lake. There are plenty of towels, cable TV and a full area for cooking. This is a great value place for all that you can do there. Hosts were very responsive to all of our questions.

Located right next to Windover Lake in Clare County. 5 miles from ski resort and snowmobile trials. I offer a spacious room on the 2nd floor with bunked queen and single beds. I also have a large kitchen with a dining table and big living room with lots of natural light. I am allergic to cats. A well-trained dog is allowed. I do not have any pets. Lots of space for parking boats, ATVs, etc. Smoking is allowed outside on the decks (420 friendly). I have another room listed on here if needed.
  • Perfect spot to break up a long drive.
