If you fancy a get away from the hustle and bustle our Hilltop Haven is for you, surrounded by Bush and ocean with only one neighbour it is definitely one of the most restful places to be. You may be lucky enough to see Whales if visiting in October too! We have had a pair in front for the last weeks in Sep. the house is tidy, comfortable and cute with amazing views! Your welcome to have a guest sleep on the sofa but you must bring your own bedding for this. TV is Netflix or by using Apple TV
Everything you need is included in this funky little bungalow, bring your own food and drinks and you are good to go!
Relax and listen to the birds and the waves, you can open the two 4metre ranch sliders in the lounge kitchen and feel like your in paradise. Even if it’s stormy outside there is something magical on this hill. Feeling active - walk 500m down the steep driveway then 500m either left or right takes you to two beautiful beaches the main one being Te Ngaere Bay. A stunning long sandy beach - safe for swimming and not swamped with tourists. The Mahinepua Coastal Walkway is a short drive away as well as many other beaches as your on a coastal scenic drive so you can have your own beach hop! The only shop nearby is Top Shop at Matauri Bay, they have amazing Fish and Chips a Bar and a Dairy Super close to Kauri Cliffs if you fancy a game of golf and Kerikeri, Carrington and Whangaroa Golf Clubs are a short drive away. Being based at Te Ngaere Bay means you are central to visit northwards Maunganui, Cable Bay, Kaitaia, Cape Reinga or South towards Kerikeri, Paihia or Whangarei. However long you stay you will wish it was longer! But the best thing is you can always come back!!
  • This place is awesome. The views are sensational and the space is so quiet. Coming back again for sure!

  • We spent a very relaxing week at Dominique's beautiful house and would have been happy to have stayed much longer. The secluded location, with forest views to one side and ocean views/sounds to the other, is remarkably peaceful. Dominique's modern house has been tastefully decorated in quite a unique and somewhat quirky style. We loved the well stocked and functional kitchen, which made us feel right at home from the get go. The local coves and beaches are delightful. Communication with Dominique was very easy. We look forward to returning some day.

    Anthony2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Dominique’s place has brilliant views and is location on a hill overlooking the sea on one side and the pine forest on the other. The place is very well equipped with everything that one would require on their holiday. Dominique was very sweet and ensured everything during our stay was comfortable. She went out of her way and video taped the route to the apartment as we were checking in midnight. Highly recommend this beautiful apartment with gorgeous views.

  • I hesitate to tell you about this hidden gem as it is extraordinary and beyond your expectations. Why hesitate, well if everyone knows how great this hideaway is then I may never be able tot get a reservation again as it will always be booked! The stars at night and the views all day are inspiring.

    Pierrette2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place definitely exceeding my expectations! Honestly one of my favourite air bnbs I’ve stayed out! The views are breathtaking- the deck has a panorama view of the ocean and forest with a very comfortable couch to lie on. It’s the perfect secluded getaway! Great communication with Dominique. Couldn’t recommend more! Photos don’t do it justice!

    Ellie2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • No better way to start the day than taking in the amazing view from the deck, simply stunning.

  • Such a perfect escape from the world! We stayed here after a wonderful weekend at a wedding, it was so nice to disconnect and relax. Basic set up but all you need is there. Very comfy bed, bathtub on the deck, abundant property that we were welcome to walk around and enjoy the fruit fresh from the trees.

  • This is the nicest AirBnB in northern New Zealand! It is large, well furnished and the walls and doors are not scratched like so many others places we stayed in. The kitchen tools are quite new , the bathroom is modern and equipped with shampoos, soaps and new towels. It is at the end of a long lane but well worth the trip! This is the way all AirBnBs should be ! Thank you!

    Colin2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This Bnb is a very nice getaway in the middle of the forest. You have everything you need for a wonderful escape from the world. The dogs are adorable and friendly. The bed is amazingly comfortable!

Situated by a private lake in the country just outside of Kerikeri township. Just off Hiway 10 so easy access to Bay of Islands or Cape Reinga for those wanting to explore the north. We offer a family home and expect our guests to make us their home away from home. You are welcome to join in as much or as little as you like. Great if you are looking for a cross cultural experience.

Paihia, Russell, and the wider Bay of Island and Far North are all easily accessible. We are happy to provide recommendations for places to eat, visit and experience during your stay!
  • There is no word to adequately describe Magic Cottage except “magic”. To wake up to the bird calls, canoe along the river, relax in the outdoor tub, and read in the nook was absolutely the perfect way to spend our short two days at the property. The listing doesn’t do justice to the expansiveness and peacefulness of the farm on which the cottage is situated, or the beauty of the river. Bay of Islands is a wonderful destination full of activities for tourists and restaurants, and it isn’t far afield. On top of the amazing location and amenities, the cottage is beautifully and tastefully styled, was sparklingly clean, and extremely comfortable. Magic Cottage was the highlight of our week in New Zealand, and we are already planning our return!

    Caroline2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Simply the most magical and secluded spot, just beautiful

    George2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely BEAUTIFUL location. We had the most relaxing weekend and really enjoyed our mid winter kayak. Highly recommend.

    Olivia2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place and enchanting location. The cottage is right off the river and the outdoor tub is amazing under the stars. The hosts are extremely kind and the cottage truly offers a chance to disconnect in all the right ways! Highly recommend.

    Alexandra2019-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so incredible. We couldn’t think of a more magical place to celebrate our baby moon. It was so lovely connecting with each other in this peaceful cottage. We felt completely hidden from the world. Not having phone reception or a tv added to the magic of the experience. While we were there, we got engaged, kayaked, fished, cooked, played board games, read books and had baths in the outdoor tub every night. We felt so welcome and taken care of and can’t wait to come back in the future. We highly recommend people experience this unique paradise.

    Tyrone2019-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Magic Cottage is a secluded and very nicely presented cottage just by the river, located in a group of other similar properties in what basically amounts to a rainforest garden. It's placed off from the other buildings and nicely shielded from outside view, although its important to note that due to the 'working farm' nature of the area, during the day there can occasionally be the sound of chainsaws, ATVs, passing cars, barking dogs etc - although these didn't really bother us. The provided kayaks and equipment were great, as was the advice and suggestions of places we could take them. The BBQ and other amenities were as described and were functional as expected - although the BBQ has clearly seen better days and is missing a few screws and a wheel! One thing that's important to note is the area has basically no mobile phone coverage on either Spark or Vodafone, and the wifi provided (at the time of writing) does not reach the Magic Cottage, instead only being accessible from the guesthouse, located some 500m away). However once you're within signal range it provided rock solid connectivity - just go easy on it - it's only about 5mbit down / 0.8mbit up and is shared with the other guests, due to the rural location! Overall the Magic Cottage was the secluded and private getaway I hoped it would be - though be aware that the surrounding area is a rather busy place, and you should expect to be 'offline' for most of your stay!

    Jan2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was truly magical and so worth it! The outdoor bathtub was a particular highlight for us. A much needed relaxing weekend away, thanks Anna and Ian!

Our beautiful Eco property is situated just 8 minutes from Kerikeri, but closer to Waipapa. The cabin is nestled in it's own secluded clearing in the bush, guaranteeing you will not be disturbed. It is a real oasis next to a meandering stream. decorated in retro style and with reclaimed materials it is not five star accommodation but cosy comfort we offer.
This self contained cabin has everything you need for self catering But is close enough to town if you'd like to eat out and explore. With a kingsized bed, kitchen/lounge area. A new wet area styled bathroom with composting toilet(very well done/ not smelly).
  • Absolutely beautiful place. Felt hidden from the world even though you're very close to Kerikeri and the main road- best of both worlds. Wonderful way to start the day when you can put on the jug, sit on the porch listening to the steam and the birds until the kettle whistles.

    Kirstin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • First off I absolutely loved the whole deal here, from trundling down the track to find my rural haven of undisturbed peace to listening to the screeching kiwis after dark. This is a really cool place with no flushing toilets and solar powered facilities, with WiFi. But it is serene and peaceful and quirky and I totally recommend it. Wish I'd stayed longer.

  • Accurately described, nice little eco cabin in a really beautiful part of NZ. The space is wonderfully simple, and is like if your cool aunt built a tramping hut. This place makes a great base for exploring northland, and getting away from it all at the end of the day.

  • It was such a lovely stay. The Airbnb really feels like a home. Gerard and Kathryn were really friendly in their communications, and gave us so many good tips and recommendations on what to do/see in the area. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean, and we even got homemade bread in the morning for breakfast. Loved it, if it was possible to give 6 stars, I would.

  • Really nice stay at a very pretty housing. We had a room within the house of the hosts that were very welcoming and kind and gave good advice for our day trip to the north cape. The accommodation is directly located at a lake and we could use the host's kayaks too. A basic, good breakfast is included - for a little extra payment a cooked breakfast could be chosen. Would definetivly recommend and would love to stay again at this place!

Please note we are changing. THE VINEYARD HAS GONE. THE COTTAGE IS ENCLOSED WITH IT'S OWN GARDEN. Welcome to Paradise Garden Cottage. Pet friendly, peaceful, beautiful and private, only 15 minutes from Kerikeri. This is a brilliant base from which to explore all that Northland has to offer. No matter what the season, there is plenty to see and do: Harbours, bays, lakes, waterfalls, forests, vineyards, great beaches, good restaurants and cafes, cool markets, fishing charters.
You will be in your own self-catering, private, modern cabin, with a gorgeous view onto the surrounding hills. You are welcome to wander the grounds, make yourself at home, come and chat at the main house, or just remain privately by yourselves. The cottage has it's own fenced garden (in progress). There is no roadway surrounding us, just hills and bushland. The variety of birdlife and the stars at night are fantastic. Although self-cater, we provide the basics to get you started: towels, linen, shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee, tea, sugar, milk. Homelay eggs available on request. The cabin has a comfortable queen bed, an en-suite bathroom, kitchenette, dining area, flat screen TV Satellite, Netflix, Wi-Fi, a deck, an outdoor cooking area and heat pump/air conditioning. The Weber on the deck allows you to BBQ or roast and has a hot plate for other cooking options such as bacon and eggs. There is also an outdoor gas hob. The covered deck is a great place to relax with a good book. A washing machine and dryer is available on the property, at $10 per load.
There are great restaurants and cafes, beaches, a heritage park, kauri forest, hot springs, wineries, waterfalls, a golf course, swimming holes, fishing harbours. You can easily take a day trip to 90 mile beach and Cape Reinga. As this is an historic part of New Zealand, you can enjoy a hike at Marsden Cross, where the first Christmas Service was held in 1814. We can let you know about more that may be off the beaten track. Down the road Waipapa has a good takeaway, a cool pub, The Pioneer and a retail hub with all the usual shops, such as The Warehouse, Churchills Butchery, a quaint second hand bookshop and so on. There are supermarkets and gas stations in Kerikeri, Waipapa and Kaeo. Nearby restaurants include Spice Grill Indian Cuisine (incredible Indian food), Wharepuku, Ake Ake Vinyard and Restaurant, The Black Olive Restaurant and, not forgetting the original, Marsden Winery and restaurant. There are also several cafes around the area. On the weekend there are two enjoyable markets held in Kerikeri: The Packhouse Market on Saturdays, and the Kerikeri farmer’s market on Sundays. Popular nearby locations include: - Rainbow Falls 11 minutes - Matauri Bay 14 minutes - Kerikeri township 15 minutes - Kemp House, The Stone Storehouse, and St James’ Church 15 minutes - Whangaroa Harbour 16 minutes - Paihia and Waitangi 20 minutes

  • It's a lovely, cosy cabin in a beautiful backyard with a very comfortable patio. Siobhan is an amazing host, friendly and caring. We loved our stay and would definitely come back again!

  • Kerikeri Paradise Cottage is a wonderful guesthouse in the country but within easy driving distance to many sights and amenities. Siobhan carefully considers every detail, and this home away from home is spotless and very comfortable. She is also an extremely friendly and genuine host. We hope to have the good fortune of staying here again. Absolutely recommended!! Laurie and John, Alberta, Canada

  • Siobhan is a friendly and welcoming host. Her cottage provides a comfortable bed and good wifi. Theres a really nice deck to sit outside. Due to heavy rainfalls, we couldn’t make use of the nice outdoor kitchen, maybe next time. Thanks for having us.

  • We loved our stay here. It was such a peaceful place to return at the end of the day. The night skies are amazing and the views are top notch too. We enjoyed sitting and taking it all in with our morning coffees. Our accommodation was spotless, lovely and well appointed. We appreciated how easy it was to drive into Kerikeri, as well as to other places of interest. There were great tips about hidden gems provided too. Siobhan was a wonderful and gracious host with excellent communication. We would love to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others!

  • Brenda’s cottage has been well thought out and cleverly designed to make you feel like you’re in your own little home. which has everything you need. The location is lovely and quiet, a little way out of town but directly across the road from a winery. Brenda went out of her way with personal touches to make us feel at home. Her garden is beautiful and I would happily come back to stay in the future.

    Karen2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect base for exploring the area. Beautiful location, spotless accommodation. The help and advice provided in the folder was all really useful. Thoroughly recommend!

    Mara2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda and Neil were fantastic hosts, all the thoughtful touches such as fresh eggs from their chickens, homemade kiwi jam, their own apples and fresh Madeleine cakes! Their grapes were delicious too. The space itself is beautiful and we couldn't have found a better way to start our long trip in NZ. It's perfect driving distance to a lot of the attractions of the Northland. On the weekend, the winery and brewery are open until 6pm if you fancy a nice cold beer. One of our highlights was the blueberry farm a couple of kilometres down the main road which does fresh blueberry ice-cream from Nov till April. Brenda and Neil had some great recommendations on local places, we loved visiting the bays they suggested and had them pretty much to ourselves. The house is perfect for unwinding in the evening, with your own deck and BBQ. There's so much wildlife in their garden, we sat out there for hours. Will definitely stay again if and when we get a chance to come back to NZ

    Holly2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an absolutely lovely place a little off the beaten path of the crowded towns and roadways this is for you! We absolutely loved dining on the porch and looking at the lovely gardens and the birds. Everything was absolutely in order and spotless! Brenda added many other special touches that made our stay very memorable! I would highly recommend it and I would stay there again!

    Mike2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is spacious and airy with a lovely outlook over the garden - a peaceful haven. There were treats for us to eat and we were encouraged to help ourselves to the apples and grapes growing in the garden. A well stocked bookcase provided ample reading. Thank you Brenda and Neil.

    Virginia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's place is in a great location for visiting tourist spots in the region. The stylish accommodation is very comfortable, immaculately clean and has everything required for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Brenda and Neil were excellent host, around if needed but allowed us our privacy. The accommodation is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely veranda to sit and relax in and enjoy the surroundings.

  • Judy and Shaun’s place is right up there as our favourite place to stay in NZ so far. Waimanu has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday and if you think it looks lovely on the photos just wait until you get there!! The views are amazing, rooms five star and the pool and spa just luxury at its best. Judy and Shaun are absolutely the nicest hosts we have met too. Warm, kind, chatty, friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. Whangaroa itself is just a stunning harbour with lots of lovely walks. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely return.

Basic Beach House at Taupo Bay. 2 minute walk beach and playground for kids. Nice big flat sunny section
Two bedrooms down stairs with double beds Mezzanine floor with 3 single beds Foldout couch double bed in lounge
Taupo Bay is a beautiful beach with a spectacular outlook, especially sunrises. Taupo Bay is great for swimming, fishing, diving and surfing when there's swell. When there's no swell the beach is nice and safe for swimming. Taupo Bay is a quiet small community with no shops or cafes (the camp ground has a small shop that provides a few basics).
  • We felt very comfortable in the beautiful house. The large garden was perfect for our children to play in. Everything was clean and tidy. The house has everything you need for a pleasant stay! It is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. We can only recommend it! Thank you for the great time!

  • What a wonderful host! I booked the accommodation on the same day of check in and Helen responded very quickly and accommodated late check in and check out for us. The house is easy to find and had dedicated parking area. It is spacious, sparkling clean with a beautiful view where you can admire the sunset. Helen was very friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. She went above and beyond by writing a sweet welcoming message in a card for us, giving us lovely grapes from her garden to try as well as a goodbye token at check out. Highly recommended!

  • Helen and Brian are lovely people and the most generous hosts. The space is immaculately clean and we loved the attention to detail and all of the little extra touches. The apartment has an incredible view of the Whangaroa harbor. There is so much to see in the area, but it’s worth just spending a morning or afternoon enjoying the beautiful view from the apartment. We wish we could have stayed longer and can’t wait to visit again!

  • The living room has excellent sea views giving this airbnb a real peaceful tranquility! Helen and Brian are excellent hosts, extremely welcoming and friendly with lots of advice on things to do and places to see. They even invited us in to have breakfast together to celebrate the korean new year! The airbnb is well equipped for all your needs including tea and coffee and even a nice cold bottle of milk in the fridge. Se had a beautiful weekend at Helen's place not too far from the ngawha hot springs in kaikoe, paihia, cape reinga, 90 mile beach and the great sand dunes. I would highly recommend staying here.

New beach house with stunning coastal views and decks on all sides. Three double bedrooms and two lounges. Only 200 metres walk to a safe swimming beach. Fantastic walking track at the bottom of the drive.
This house was completed in late 2017. It is 15 minutes drive from Matauri Bay, Kauri Cliffs Golf Course and Whangaroa Harbour. Spectacular views over both sides of a peninsula - Mahinepua Bay and the Cavalli Islands on one side and Stephenson Island on the other.
The house is on a private road and sits at the edge of a peninsula. There is a Department of Conservation (DOC) walking track that starts at the bottom edge of the property and offers excellent views of the area. The track takes about 1.5 hours and is very well formed.
  • Had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights at Peter’s house in Mahinepua and loved every minute of it. The house sits on top of a hill and gives you the most amazing outlook from every point. If you are ever up that way and want to experience some magic then this is the place to go.

    Brad2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful long weekend here. The house is gorgeous, the photos don’t do the property justice. We particularly enjoyed the extensive decks and stunning views. It is a super peaceful space.

    Paula2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Top place, this holiday home has it all, we really enjoyed our stay at Peters home, it has everything you need already in the home that you will need. The drive to the beach is 1 minute down the hill, we opted to go to a beach around the corner as it was nicer. Peter told us about some fishing spots nearby which were helpful. If I could recommend one thing to really top this place off it would be a couple or 3 kayaks to enjoy around the bays but that doesn't stop me giving 5 stars all round! Beds were super comfy, and we are looking to return next summer! Highly recommended place to stay!

    Jordan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Your accommodation is in a 6mtr Luxury fully self contained Caravan in a semi Rural setting on our property. 10 min drive to Kerikeri. 20 Min drive to Paihia. 30 Min drive to Kauri Cliffs Golf Course. 200km to Cape Reinga (400km return) 90 Min drive to Whangarei.
Your accommodation is situated in a restful setting. We are only to happy for our guests to walk around the garden. There is a lovely bush walk at the end of the property, and if you fancy a cool swim on a warm day there is a water hole through a 10 - 15 min Bush walk (rather steep in places). You may even hear the Kiwi's calling at night.
Nice private no exit street, all the properties in the street have large sections, so privacy is assured.

  • The caravan is neat and has many good features. We were allowed to put our suitcases in the garage out the way. Great local swim hole and a Kauri forest very close by

    Trevor2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stay at Anne and Ron's was simply fantabulous. They were really considerate as we arrived really late and they welcomed us woth open arms. They understood we had a long day and they were really flexible on our checkout. The caravan itself is fully equipped and extremely cozy. It's a complete place in itself with your own privacy from the house and has all the amenities from a well equipped kitchen where you can enjoy the eggs from their hen's. The house has a really big garden ahere you can wnjoy your breakfast. They also gave us some Macadamia nuts from their trees. They are a lovely couple.

  • Judith makes you feel at home and nothing appears to be a problem. Awesome place with an equally awesome host. I would happily stay again. I was on a work trip so did not do any sight seeing but could see that there was plenty of information in the accommodation on things to do and places to eat. You have your own private area and Judith happily let me share her kitchen when I needed to cook something, which came with the added bonus of some lovely conversations. :-)

    Karen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a true Bed & Breakfast experience, this is the place to go! This is a great stay that is near a lot of northlands finest spots to see and explore. Judith has lots of suggestions should you need them. She is a lovely person and hands down one of the best hosts I have ever had as she hosts a B&B, not just a room (unless that’s what you’re looking for - she would let that happen too). Her breakfasts are heavenly! Highly recommended!!

    William2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Judith was so lovely and greeted us with a refreshing drink, fresh fruit, and freshly cooked muffins. It was just what we needed after the drive! The bedrooms were really comfortable and the home cooked breakfast in the morning was a wonderful touch. It was within walking distance to lots of places, including the beautiful rainbow falls. Judith is an interesting person and very easy to talk to. We had a really good stay and would recommend Judith's place a hundred times over!

    Claudia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a slice of heaven in the gorgeous Bay of Islands. Judith is very much the hostess with the mostest, providing a comfortable and welcoming space, and going above and beyond to ensure you have a fantastic stay. Her recommendations for my time were fantastic, absolutely delicious breakfasts served at a time to suit me, and lovely chats on the deck whilst escaping the heat. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Old Packhouse

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy accommodation, plenty of space. Delicious breakfast. Warm welcome with tea and cakes. Useful advices what to do and how to get there.

    Gudrun2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say? Judith is an exempelary Airbnb host, her house and garden are so lovely, it is located in a good area, and there is a lot to explore, especially if you have a car. I was traveling by bus and Judith went out of her way to make everything I had hoped to do possible. Accessible from the house are several good long walks that go to waterfalls, and even the town is reachable by foot. It was a wonderful stay.

    Heidi2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Judith was wonderful. A cozy, spacious apartment, everything was very clean and tidy. The breakfast was great and Judith gave us valuable tips for organizing the day. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit from the garden. We would come back anytime.

  • Fab spot. Very private. Beautiful chalet with comfy bed beautiful additions to make it a home away from home. Great detail and loved the box of lovely skin products I received on arrival which were much needed. Spa was awesome, we spent far too long lounging and chatting in it. Highly recommend.

  • Amazing place, perfect to relax and unwind but also a great base to explore so something for everyone. Immaculately clean, I run an accommodation business so naturally spot anything without trying and there was nothing I could fault. Can’t wait to come back!

  • The scene was set with the doors wide open. The music was on point with the tranquillity your chalets offered :) it was great relaxing in the spa, having draws to put clothes in, and the stunning open shower with 2 shower heads. Jon and Beth are great hosts who add the personal touches to make the experience.

    Michael2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Beth are amazing hosts. The accomm is amazing. It is well equipped and very private. We never felt the need to leave for food as we cooked and dined in during our stay. It is perfectly positioned to recieve majority of the sunlight thoughout the day. Each suite provides something different from the other but suite B is our favourite and the biggest. Suite C has the best privacy and views. We wanted to unwind and relax, which this place provides. We will most definitely come back to visit and make it a regular retreat every year but will bring our friends along. Totally recommend this place for a couples retreat.

    Moses2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beth was the most welcoming host to their lovely secluded Chalets. Set in a beautiful valley, our super clean suite B had everything we wanted, and more ! A private patio with heavy duty BarB Q and outdoor hot tub lead into a spacious Living Kitchen Dining room with stairs to the King bed and large ensuite. This was the perfect place to unwind and explore the fantastic surrounding countryside with its many walks and beaches. Thank you Beth (sorry to miss you Jon) for providing such a magical abode. We will be back !

My place is close to 5 beautiful beaches, has spectacular sea sea views, is near the Whangaroa Harbour, has a great many walks nearby and views of St Paul's Rock. Climb St Paul's Rock for amazing views. This warm & sunny home, is on the edge of beautiful Waitapu Bay, a tidal inlet, perfectly calm for kayaking, and my location is very central to explore the North.
Four years ago I fell in love with this charming, cosy and warm home with its stunning coastal and rural views wherever you look. In this three level house I have my own bedroom and office upstairs. In the middle level is the kitchen, lounge, entertainment, verandah and shared bathroom/toilet. The two guest bedrooms are downstairs on the bottom level with a separate bathroom.
It is a small, quiet no exit street housing approx 30 friendly residents who get together for Christmas and other celebrations. The street has a rural and coastal appeal to it with boats anchored in the Waitapu Bay at the bottom of the street (2 minutes walk from the house).
  • Very nice clean and tidy, in a great location. Chris the host was very friendly with great communication.

    Alan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality, very helpful and just a great person. Everything was super clean and the view was a dream. Having a car is a big advantage when you go to this area. I would book with her again immediately.

    Sarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and brandnew rooms and bathroom. Chris is very hospitable and flexible. Loved the breakfast with home-grown fruits. The nearby beaches are absolutely worth exploring and her house is a good base to visit Cape Reigna (2,5 hr drive) and surroundings. Quiet location. Highly recommended!

  • A perfect location for total peace and quiet and an excellent launch pad for exploring the whole local area (which is quite stunning)

    Martin2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. The house is set in the beautiful Whangaroa bay with tranquil views and abundant bird life. Chris is an excellent host who willingly imparts invaluable local knowledge to make the stay hassle free and more enjoyable.

    Annette2019-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was bybl far my favorite air bnb in my travels. Chris has so much good information and is a wonderful host. The house and views are beautiful!

    Rebeccah2019-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 4 day stay with Chris. She is a very warm and welcoming host who will make you very comfortable in her home. The bedroom is quite cosy but the bed is comfortable and we spent most our time when in the house upstairs in the spacious open plan lounge and kitchen area chatting with Chris and generally making ourselves at home. There is a separate fridge for guests so cooking your own meals is no problem. There was a woofer (willing worker on organic farms) staying at the same time as us and it made for a good dynamic with lots of interesting conversation . . . One of the reasons we love staying in AirBnB properties. The house itself is a lovely home with beautiful views of the bay and a wonderful new bathroom. At night you are serenaded to sleep by a combination of cicadas and frogs chorus (from next doors pond) . . . Not an experience I have had before! The surrounding area is stunning and this a great base to explore some beautiful beaches and countryside and without the tourists you get in the bay of Islands. There are walks a plenty if that rocks your boat as well. (Don’t miss the short but energetic hike up St. John’s rock) We loved both the house and the area so aim to come back here on our next visit to NZ.

    Robert2019-01-28T00:00:00Z

  • Folks, this is a WOW!! Words don't really capture how this little gem will leave you feeling. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer, but I will some day! The house and its settings are idyllic. The waterfalls and babbling brook is a divine space for unwinding and to just 'be'. Thank you Jenny for the little thoughtful gifts and homemade tasties. Trust me folks, you won't be disappointed. Close to everything that makes this Bay of Islands stay a 'save to your favourites.' Lovely space and great hosts. Bless you both.

    Jacynthia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny’s place is everything everyone has written about. A cosy home away from home with all the bells and whistles. Quiet rural setting with sheep and hares in the paddocks, a lovely creek running through down the paddock yet close enough to all the sights and attractions the Bay Area has to offer, albeit you need your own transport. Book this place and you won’t be disappointed.

    Grant2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed with the 'Shepherds Shack'. This is one of the best Airbnb we have stayed in during our six months travelling. A real home from home within easy distance of historic sites and beaches, but relaxing and peaceful. Would highly recommend.

At such short notice, Carol was so helpful & accommodating with giving us an opportunity to book in early, as a friends wedding was at the same time. Will be back 😇

We spent a relaxing three nights here, hoping to have the opportunity to come here to enjoy the country life in the future.

A fully furnished, self contained cabin perched on a peninsula on 10 acres overlooking Doubtless Bay with its own rocky beach - great fishing spot. Just a couple of minutes from the Hihi main beach and 10 minutes to Shops and Restaurants in Mangonui. The cabin sits approx 200 meters above the rocky shore. (with easy beach access).and next to my cottage but is completely private with its own entrance, deck and surrounding gardens. A quiet spot to call home while visiting the far north.
This Cabin is light and airy. Fully furnished with TV, DVD. The Cabin by the Sea is featured in a series of fictional books .. "The Audrey Murders"
This 10 acres is completely private. The cabin is located approx 200 meters above the beach with a private access road to the rocky beach. No neighbours in sight. The nearest neighbours have over 100 acres of land.
  • It’s such a sweet Cabin, even more so inside. The bottle of wine and generous supplies were such a treat. This was our 24th Airbnb in our 9 weeks in NZ. What a fabulous place to end up before wiping our tears away and flying back to Canada. Do walk down to the stunning beach, take your shoes off, feel the gentle waves, and watch a sunset.

  • Absolutely beautiful place. The Cabin was cute and big enough for the two of us. The location was gorgeous. In love with the view and the surroundings oh and the 2 lambs that were around us. The cabin had everything that one would need and more. We got a bottle of wine upon arrival which was very nice. Little touches mean a lot. Lots of towels and all the facilities were perfect. Leonie was friendly and available if we needed her also gave us privacy that we needed. She is a lovely person. My partner and I loved our stay at the cabin and will definitely be back again. Thank you Leonie.

  • Leonie's Cabin by the Sea is situated in a little part of paradise. On a small headland with natural bush surrounding and the very best wide open view of Doughtles Bay, there is nothing more you could wish for. The cabin is simple and lovely. Very comfortable in every way. A nice assortment of food to add to what we already had, made things very easy to stay put. Her added touches and generosity were very much appreciated . The ground coffee was exceptional. So much so, we sourced the place in Koeo where we could buy the local roasted beans. Thank you Leonie for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful property. If we come back to Northland, we will back. Geoff and Julianne

  • This little cabin by the sea is amazing, quiet, secluded and with an incredible view out to the water. Leonie has thought of everything her guests could possibly need. There was plenty of extra linen and towels, the fridge was full of supplies - and out on the verandah there were fishing rods, bait and buckets for our use as well! It was such a joy to wander around the property, taking in the peace and tranquility. Thank you Leonie for our wonderful stay.

  • A cabin very well furnished in a ... breathtaking setting! Leonie, is a host, who by many touches of attention, shows us that we are expected and welcome. The description of the cabin and its surroundings are true to reality. An enchantment! We warmly recommend this accommodation.

  • Leonie's place is an idyllic retreat from the stress of modern life. We spent a week at 'The Cabin', and could easily have stayed another week. It's set on 10 acres of private hill, surrounded by mature trees, and just above the waters of stunning Doubtless Bay. There is only the one guest cabin on the property. You can easily spend all day lying on the recliners under the shady trees, reading, sleeping, and contemplating the view. A couple of times that's all we did for the day. Fish frequently break the surface of the water, and the seabirds are frequent visitors. There are also families of very cute Californian quail foraging all around the property. The cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed: a pantry with breakfast supplies; the fridge was stocked with wine, beer, bread, butter, milk and a dozen eggs, along with a bunch of spreads; and a bowl of fruit, just to get us started. It had an excellent-quality, very comfy queen-sized bed, with a pillow-top, and also a comfy single bed. Both would best be descibed as 'soft-to-medium'. The bathroom was compact but adequate, with ample towels etc. There was absolutely no noise at night, apart from the occasional native bird calling in the forest. Leonie is an engaging host, full of energy and fascinating stories, a person who lives life to the fullest. She lives in a quaint cottage adjacent to (but separated from) the cabin, and we never felt our privacy was being compromised. Leonie was often away from the property on business, meaning we had the place to ourselves, but we also loved the occasional chat with her over a glass of wine. It was a 12-minute scenic drive into Mangonui, a charming seaside village that boasts 2 excellent Thai and Indian restaurants - we could have eaten there every night! - along with the hugely popular fish-and-chippery perched out over the water. There are also a couple of other cafes in the vilage, plus a small supermarket, so your dining needs are amply catered for. There's also a much bigger supermarket a few kilometres further north at Coopers Beach. Hihi was a good base for exploring the area. Highly recommended is the run up to Matai Bay, and of course the drive (or bus tour) up to Cape Reinga, which was far more spectacular than we expected. A half-hour drive gets you to Whangaroa harbour where we took the excellent 90-minute cruise around the harbour with the water-taxi company. It was a stunning trip. If you're after a quiet spot to unwind, or explore the region from, then you simply can't go past Leonie's cabin. We'll be back again.

  • So happy we stayed at The Cabin! We enjoyed the views and it was a great home base for exploring the Northland. Might be the softest, comfiest bed we’ve slept in. We even heard a male kiwi one night. Leonie is a gracious host and a super human. Thank you, Leonie, for your kind hospitality and we hope to see you again!

  • Margaret is very lovely and energetic. We met for the first time but she was awesome and approachable. She is also on-point and kind. It was our first time in Kerikeri and we had the best time and experience. I am so glad I chose Margaret's place, it felt so homely. The view from her deck and lounge was so beautiful. Spotless clean and had the best sleep ever. Air conditioner came in handy with the hot weather. There is a bbq stand but it was quite unfortunate that our stay was short otherwise we would've used it for some pork ribs haha Overall, I don't know how else to explain it but beautiful home & space. I loved every minute of my stay there. My parents and husband loved it there too. We will definitely book in on for our next trip. Thank you so much Margaret. Oh and I almost forgot. Free breakfast :) yogurt and fruit salad is my favourite :) Anyone who would choose this place will love it and have no regrets at all. It's like heaven <3

A stones throw to the iconic Kerikeri Stone Store. Our guest house is self contained with off street parking for one vehicle. 5 min walk to the Kerikeri basin or 20 mins walk to town.
Our guesthouse is a freshly renovated 2 bedroom self contained unit. We currently only have 1 bedroom made up.
Kerikeri is a fantatic base in Northland. It is well served by regular scheduled air travel (Air New Zealand). We have 2 supermarkets and all the shops you need while still remaining small. Whangeri is 1 hour south by car.

  • Very clean, simple and well priced apartment! It was great to have off street parking next to the house. Easy check-in process and Danielle was quick to respond to messages. The entire place is fairly spacious and has everything you would need for a short stay. Great location, close to supermarkets (countdown and New World), ideal to explore Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga. It was also great to have a little outside area, where you could sit and watch the night sky. But you should be aware that there is a dog and cat running around on the property.

Edmonds house at Te Ngaere is 30 minutes north of Kerikeri, handy to Kauri Cliffs golf course and Whangaroa game fishing. An ideal base for boating, fishing, kayaking, snorkelling and water skiing. Dive the nearby Rainbow Warrior wreck, walk around the rocky headlands and swim at the three nearby beaches in crystal clear water. You'll love the amazing views, idyllic setting and the beautiful beaches. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and families (with kids).

We are a quiet, relaxed neighbourhood, up a private driveway and away from the holiday makers at the beaches. There are three beaches nearby, all within 1 km, about 15 minutes walk.
  • Absolutely gorgeous spot. The views from the deck are breathtaking. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed and was a perfect getaway from the craziness of the city. Fishing was also SO great in the area.

  • We had an amazing stay for 4 days. View is just spectacular, a very special part of New Zealand. House had everything we needed and Sally was great to deal with.

    Dane2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location right up high on a private road. The views up there are just amazing. Stayed here over Auckland Anniversary weather was spot on. Beds where comfy, the deck was the place to be chilling with a bottle of wine or 2, my only gripe was the cleanliness, over 60 spiders vacuumed up when we arrived as 1 of my friends hates them, just needed a good cobweb clean. But don't let this put you off staying as it might now be all sorted with this review! Would definitely stay again if allowed 😜

    Jordan2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The spot is really exceptionnal. The house is very cumfortable and much more spacious than on the photos, a nice surprise. The vintage style gives it a kind of charm, even if the kitchen Tools are very old. We appreciated the carpet floor. The lack of internet connexion is absolutly not a problem if you bought a Vodafone card for your smartphone at the airport. There are so many places to discover around, we should have stay the entire week. You must absolutly walk on the Mahinepua peninsula track 5 minutes drive north. Definitly a good place to choose without any hesitation.

  • This special spot is absolutely stunning, driving up a private driveway surrounded by native bush you reach the house that has breathtaking views. It is minutes away to three beautiful beaches. It had a great Kiwiana feel and Sally was quick with responses. Thank you again Sally for our enjoyable stay.

A short walk to the cafes in the quaint fishing village of Mangonui and wonderful beach and bush walks nearby. Private entrance , access to swimming pool . All people welcome but has STEEP STEPS going down to the studio. You can bring your little doggie (extra $10/night)please wipe down when coming inside.
This place is a studio unit below the main house. There is a Gas cooker top, small old fridge, crockery and utensils, TV with free view, heater and fan. The studio has a suspended sound proof ceiling in the lounge to give you privacy and it is surrounded by NZ forest trees and a short walk to the Bay. We provide tea and coffee and a kettle and wifi. wifi is good but phone connection is poor. The entrance STEPS ARE STEEP so may not suit little kids or oldies. There are 2 small decks so you can spread outside when the weather is good. There is a queen size bed in the alcove and a single bed in the comfy lounge. spare mattress if needed. Comfortable, private at a good price would describe this accomodation best...and best of all, the host Bodhi is friendly and welcoming!
Beautiful coastal scenery, bush walker the studio up to stunning look out, stroll to the village cafes, go fishing off the wharfs or beach walk on Coopers Beach. Money machine ,info centre , shops and supermarket nearby.
  • This was a great AirBnb in a lovely little hideaway location close to the water. The amenities and hosts are lovely and we felt very at home. Be careful with your car as it’s a steep and tight driveway, so we parked on the road.
