  • What a lovely & cosy hidden gem! We spent a couple of nights at Sue & Oz’s place for my boyfriend’s birthday and were impressed by all the little touches - balloons, cake and a bottle of fizz to name a few! Despite the rain, we enjoyed enjoyed a day out in Nottingham which is a short 20 minute train ride away, as well as a tasty lunch in the local pub. Coming back to this lovely place to warm up and spend a few hours watching films on the sofa was the perfect end to our days. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Great place to stay if you're looking for somewhere in this area. Top class facilities, lots of extras, amazing value for money.

    Stephen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Sue and Oz's place for the weekend whilst attending a wedding at Norwood Park. It is definitely one of the best Air B&Bs we have stayed at with so many thoughtful touches such as fresh eggs, bread and croissants which made breakfast on the two mornings we were there really easy! The bed was incredibly comfy and the setting was so peaceful and private. Great communication from Sue in the run up to our stay and they even offered to help us collect our car from the venue the next day, which whilst we didn't need it, was such a thoughtful gesture. Hopefully we will be back!

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at the cottage. The hospitality and all the little special touches were really sweet. All my communication with Sue prior to our trip was very helpful and informative. The cottage is lovely and secluded, perfect for a nice quiet weekend getaway with a lovely morning view of pure bliss! Will definitely recommend to friends, and hopefully see you again soon!

  • Top quality luxury.

    Clare2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a wonderful place to stay. Cathy is a brilliant host. The room was gorgeous...a huge comfortable bed and a sitting room area too and plenty of wardrobe space. Highly recommend the restaurant too - delicious food. A real find!

    Ali2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The room was spotless, with a huge comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, tv and fridge which Cathy had even left milk in so we could make a cup of tea on arrival. There is a nice big bathroom with shower, and all with pretty and luxurious decor. The food downstairs in the pub was perfect for what we wanted; simple, reasonably priced, hearty above average pub food with some interesting menu choices. The breakfast was a full English, and the vegetarian option exceeded our expectations. I would go again, and would recommend to others for a pub meal or a night's stay in the countryside outside Nottingham.

    Cat2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The room is great with huge comfy bed and lots of small touches such as fresh milk for tea & coffee. Would defiantly stay again and recommend eating in the pub.

  • What a beautiful, stylish yet homely cottage. Everything you require is here - plus more! The home is perfectly clean and it feels like a treat to stay here surrounded by nature . Would very much recommend this property!

    Michelle2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Barn Cottage is a beautifully decorated haven in a gorgeous setting. Kate went to so much trouble to make it feel welcoming, with milk, juice, eggs and cakes left for us. Our dog loved his walks in the surrounding lanes and footpaths!

    Dani2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were very impressed with Blue Barn. Kate - the host was super helpful, there were lovely special touches that we found upon arrival (the cake that was waiting for us was delicious!!) and the Barn itself is stunning! The set up is lovely with everything we needed to have a perfect self catering holiday. The Barn is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is within walking distance from two very nice pubs! We are glad we found Blue Barn and look forward to booking again on our next visit to the area.

    John2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Christmas, the perfect base for us to see family. Thank you Kate for the lovely little touches.

    Helen2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is just charming. The double bed was heaven and SO comfortable and the peace and quiet just what was needed. My favourite part is the wildlife garden. All the bird feeders and the nesting boxes kept me entertained for ages and I'd have liked a tour, but circumstances didn't allow. The walk to the river is really nice down the shady overgrown lane and the lovely pub is just at the bottom for a welcoming drink and something to eat. There are lots of places to visit nearby and it is just lovely for a break from reality.

    Angela2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The blue barn was great in both character and location. The decor and amenities were excellent, and the host provided personal touches that were both classy and wonderful. We will be back sometime for a longer stay.

    Mark2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolutely amazing stay! Will definitely be coming back.

A fully-insulated warm cosy pine cabin with its own brick-built small galley kitchen and washroom with shower and toilet. Whilst the Cabin is compact, guests have been surprised at the generous space within. Surrounded by garden and woodland leading to parkland or field paths, so ideal for dog walking. You have the freedom of self catering but let us know if you would like bread and milk left in your fridge.
The Cabin is 3.1m x 2.7m with windows on 3 sides looking out on to the garden and adjacent woodland. There is a gate directly from the garden into the wood and there are woodland paths winding through the trees for walking. The whole of one wall of the Cabin can be opened up on to the garden during the warmer weather. All windows are double glazed and both the Cabin and attached kitchen and washroom can be kept toastie warm. A 3ft single bed with another 3ft single bed under which pulls out on wheels very easily and becomes the same height as the other. Both have fully upholstered mattresses , very comfortable, and they can be pushed together or left as two beds. With both beds up, whether together or as two singles, space is limited but enough room to move around. A television and DVD player, a table and two chairs complete the cabin space which is heated by three radiators. There is ample hot water at all times. The tiny galley kitchen has kettle, toaster, hot plate, microwave, small oven/grill, fridge and washing machine, plus all crockery and cutlery. The washroom contains an enclosed shower cubicle with a glass door and washbasin with separate toilet, a chest of drawers for clothes with bottom drawer which holds blankets. Towels and bedlinen are provided.
We are in a rural location and there are walks along the River Trent a short drive away, and many giving wonderful views over the Vale of Belvoir. Newark-on-Trent is 6 miles away with 2 train stations giving easy access to Nottingham or Lincoln, supermarkets, a lovely ruined castle, museums, theatre, cinema and a huge selection of places to eat. The "Fosseway Flier" bus service between Nottingham and Newark calls into our village on its way to each of those towns!! It is a 4 minute walk to the bus stop.
  • Lovely cosy place everything you need will definitely stay again Thank you

  • The cottage was a perfect place to land after moving to the UK. I stayed for a week and while the space was a little tight with my dog and three suitcases it had everything I needed, and was great value. Elizabeth’s and David were great hosts, going and above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Strongly recommended if you are looking for somewhere to stay on the area!

The house is period property with some parts dating back to 1820. The house retains its character with many quirky features. We are on the main street next to the market square within 2 minutes walk of the town's pubs, shops, restaurants and the Southwell minster. There is a public car park to the rear of the house.
  • Paul is great host. The place has great character and it’s a very welcoming environment - it’s a homely spot. With Paul’s good communication and descriptions, even tips for the evening this was the perfect stay in Southwell. Highly recommendable!

The Cottage offers a light and airy refurbished bedroom with ensuite facilities, a traditional lounge with brick fire place and log burner and a small, well equipped kitchen. There is a small enclosed garden which is south facing.
A welcome basket with tea, coffee, bread, milk and free range eggs. Towels, bed linen and hairdryer. Toiletries to include soap and shower gel. Happy to try and accommodate any other requirements.
Epperstone has some lovely walks and a welcoming, award-winning pub serving good quality food. The most recent addition to the village is Bumbles the teashop offering breakfast, great coffee, freshly baked bread and tempting cakes.
  • We highly recommend Bridget’s place for a stay in the Notts countryside. The cottage is absolutely lovely. Very cosy and comfortable. Little touches like the fresh flowers and info about the village (walks/pub etc) make all the difference. Our dog Bessie loved the garden and was very pleased to meet Digger, Bridget’s pug. Bridget is a great host. Very friendly and welcoming without being imposing. We bumped into her and Digger on Sunday morning and went for a quick ‘turn’ around the fields out back. All in all, a great stay. Cheers Bridget. Julie, Richard and Bessie.

  • We had a wonderful short break with everything we needed. Warm, clean, comfortable and peaceful.Bridget was an excellent host . The village is lovely and the food and service at theCross Keys is excellent. Lots of wonderful circular walks in beautiful countryside start and finish in the village. Highly recommended for couples or singles but not for small children due to steep cottage staircase. A lovely cottage holiday experience .

  • Bridget's cottage is ideal for a couple looking to get away to the countryside but do not want to be in the middle of no where. It is in a lovely village with a good pub and bakery and friendly residents. The cottage is charming and has everything that you need. Upstairs the bed is very comfortable and there is a new bathroom with good shower. Communication with Bridget was excellent, she was responsive and very helpful.

We are still open for bookings currently for guests who are in the government exception categories for travelling (e.g. key workers, those whose house move has been delayed, local people needing a separate place to stay etc.) Future bookings being taken as usual. Beautiful, unusual property full of character in the heart of the historic Minster town of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, dating from the 1800's. It's packed full of original and quirky features. Discounts are available for longer stays.
The Stables benefits from being right in the centre of Southwell, with the Minster and town's shops and facilities on the doorstep, yet is tucked away down a small private road, away from the main hustle and bustle. You will have the full property to yourselves. You enter through a covered external porch area into the large entrance hall, where you'll find a circular hatch that is the cover to an old well. To your right is the main bathroom with its cast iron feature bath and period fittings. To the left are the two bedrooms, with the master bedroom boasting a super-king sized bed (which can also be made up as twin beds), as well as a lovely en-suite shower room. Quality bed linen and towels are provided for each guest. There are slate floors throughout this level and access to a quirky small outdoor seating area. A flight of wooden stairs leads up to the wonderful, spacious lounge containing quality furniture, large screen smart tv, music system, with books and games available in the Welsh dresser. There are fabulous wooden beams throughout this level, with a couple of low beams too. This room leads through with a step down to the lovely dining area, with two tub chairs placed to take advantage of the Juliette balcony. Go through again into the fully equipped, hand-painted kitchen where you'll find a traditional Belfast sink along with the oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. Outside is a private parking spot for your car. We've taken care to provide everything we think you'll need for a relaxing, enjoyable stay in this ever popular, beautiful Nottinghamshire market town.
The Stables is quite literally in the heart of Southwell, a stones throw from local cafes pubs and shops. The Minster is a two minute walk and there are lots of attractions nearby such as the National Trust Workhouse, Southwell Racecourse etc.

A self contained light and airy ground floor flat near to the river in Newark. There is a private patio, with views over the rear garden. Located within walking distance of the town centre, there is opportunity to enjoy the Civil War Centre, historic market place, castle, riverside, parks, restaurants and pubs. It is also close to the River Trent with towpath walks and access to open countryside. Enjoy exploring Newark's historic centre or unwind in the surrounding countryside and villages.
The flat is on the ground floor with direct access onto a patio with seating over looking the host's garden. The bedroom and sitting room open onto the patio through French doors. The living space has sofa and dining area with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom off.
There is a pub and small neighbourhood supermarket close to the flat which serve food and stock the essentials. There is a wide choice of dining opportunities in Newark with a wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurents. The nearby Trent towpath gives quick access to countryside walks.
  • The 1 bedroom cottage is very comfortable and quiet even though on a main road which is convenient for access to the A46 and into Newark. We found the pub across the road did a very reasonable carvery. The patio and garden off the living room is very pleasant.

  • Particularly if you a lone traveller, as I was, this is a safe haven of peace and tranquility, with a lovely outlook onto the garden which is only a step away through the patio doors and yet is within easy reach of the town centre on foot or by car. My hosts were readily available if I needed anything but were wise enough to allow solitude to be mine and didn't intrude at any point. I found it to be a perfect space and commend it to you.

The Dovecote Barn is a barn conversion based in a cute village called Morton. The barn sleeps 7 guests with a fully fitted kitchen and a lovely large open sitting room - lounge where all the family and friends can all get together. This then leads onto a patio area with bbq and open garden area where there is ample parking room, space for the children to run around play games or for the dog to stretch out there legs.
The barn is based on a farm. We have cows and chickens and ducks on the farm with country walks on the door step or a walk into the village. The farm is still a very quiet place to be out of the way of the town yet not to far out the way to get to.
  • We had a great stay at the barn and everything was as described in the advert. The property was very clean and had all of the amenities we needed for a weekend away. We had a lovely meal at The Full Moon Pub which I would highly recommend and it is only a short walk from the property.

    Elizabeth2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay for the weekend, beautiful accommodation kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. Plenty of kitchen equipment, glasses mugs etc. Lovely area, v quiet & very convenient for Eden Hall Day Spa. We went to the Bromley in Fiskerton, which does lovely food.

  • Good quiet location. Good local pub for food. Plenty of places to visit within a travelling distance of 45 minutes. Accommodation good very clean and with good supply of kitchen ware ample parking.

    Sally2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect for groups. Quiet location with lots of parking. Outdoor seating to soak up the afternoon sun. The house was lovely, really well put together and spotless. Nice big lounge with seating and dining area for all and comfy beds. Two full bathrooms meant there was no queuing. The kitchen equipment was really good and had everything we needed and more. I had a couple of questions and Amanda was so fast to respond. Would absolutely recommend!!!

    Katie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Three weeks of everything we needed and more. We emailed host Amanda prior to booking to tell her we wanted to use the barn to host celebratory meals and entertain guests (plus dogs) including overnight stays so there would be regular comings and goings. The response was quick and positive with suggestions for BBQ, local pubs and assuring availability of spare bedding etc. Since we live overseas we needed to be able to plan our stay well in advance and when my husband was over in the UK in May he was even able to go and look at the property. Suffice to say, during our stay we were able to host 3 lunches of 11 and 2 of 9 people, 5 afternoon teas, 12 overnight guests staying a total of 15 nights with the necessary breakfasts, and 4 dogs. The local shop in fiskerton allowed us to top up our supplies and we took full advantage of all the lovely nearby walks as well as showing our visitors Southwell and Newark. Nothing was too much trouble with extra chairs and additional table in the attached storeroom. Cannot recommend highly enough.

    Hazel2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for the stay Amanda. Great place

A charming grade II listed victorian property in the conservation area, and 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of Newark-on-Trent, a quintessential English historic market town with a traditional market square, Town Hall, castle and gardens, bandstand and home to the National Civil War Centre. Clean, bright, airy, stylish with a mixture of quality traditional and contemporary decor and furnishings. Free parking, Freeview, Wi-fi.
Private double room, newly decorated, and tastefully furnished overlooking the rear of this delightful period Grade II listed home. Your have shared use of the dining room (wall mounted TV), bathroom with over bath mixer shower, kitchen with all modern appliances (microwave, dishwasher, Nutribullet blender, Tassimo coffee machine). Towels provided - hairdryer, iron, ironing board also available by request. Please ask if there is anything else you need during your stay and I will try to accommodate this. * Please note the downstairs is also shared with Nala, our house cat, who is rather timid at first but soon warms to strangers. * Unauthorised guests are not allowed.
My home is situated at the end of a cul de sac so there is no through traffic, making this a very quiet location considering the proximity to the town centre. There is free parking outside the property. Newark is host to the famous bi-monthly International Antiques and Collectors Fair, and annual music, jazz, blues, and food and beer festivals. Throughout July and August, you can spend a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to a local brass band on the traditional bandstand in the castle grounds. On a fine day, why not take full advantage of the many fine bars or independent cafes situated around the town and order refreshments alfresco.
  • Tanya’s place was perfect for my stay in Newark. The room was so lovely. Tastefully decorated, comfy bed and the house is quietly tucked down a small street so I slept really well. The house and common areas were also really beautiful and I was made to feel welcome and relaxed by Tanya who is really friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, really central. I could park outside and walk everywhere I needed to get to. I’m a regular airbnber and I have to say this is the nicest private room accom I have ever stayed in. WiFi connection was strong so I was able to do some work while I was there no problem. Well worth the money. I really recommend Tanya’s place and will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.

Southwell is arguably the most attractive small market town in Nottinghamshire. With a population of around 7,500, it has an amazing array of historic buildings, cultural events, sporting and leisure activities. The primary attraction is the stunning Southwell Minster, which, although the largest building, does not overpower the town which retains its village atmosphere. The building itself was erected in the 12th century but retains its Norman character. Inside there is a beautiful octagonal Chapter House, with the famous “Leaves of Southwell” carved in the stonework in the13th century. In the Market Place is the historic half-timbered Saracens Head hotel, where Charles I spent his last night of freedom before surrendering to the Scottish Army at Kelham. The National Trust owned ‘Workhouse’ is on the Upton Road. Founded in 1824 by Rev. J T Becher, it was last used to give support to single mothers in the 1980s. 75 Church Street, Southwell is the birthplace of the Bramley Apple, where the first recorded growth was from a pip planted by Mary Ann Brailsford in 1809. The house and garden are owned by Nottingham Trent University’s School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, which is based at Brackenhurst campus on the outskirts of the town. In King Street and Queen Street there is an array of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. At the northern end of King Street is the Market Square, which hosts a market every Saturday. Further on is the Burgage, where the original Police Station, Court House and site of the old House of Correction can be found, as well as Burgage Manor, which was home to Lord Byron for a time. Southwell has a Racecourse which has frequent meetings throughout the year. Southwell is the hub for a wide variety of events. There is ‘Music in the Minster’ every month, the ‘Family Funday’ and the Folk Festival in June, the Music Festival on August Bank Holiday weekend, the Bramley Festival in October and the popular Lantern Walk in December are a few annual events. Newark-on-Trent A market town that boasts one of the finest Georgian market squares in the UK. With its dramatic castle and two museums, there is lots to see and do in Newark, a town steeped in history. Famed for its role in the English Civil War, one of the town's main historic attractions is Newark Castle. The castle was a Royalist stronghold but its key position on the banks of the River Trent meant that the castle has been severely damaged over the years. In 2015, the National Civil War Centre opened as the UK's only museum dedicated to telling the story of the brutal conflict. You can also take the Nottinghamshire Civil War trail which takes you to the key locations around the town of Newark as well as other sites in Nottinghamshire related to this turbulent chapter in our history. For aviation enthusiasts, Newark Air Museum is a must-see attraction. As well as having a wide range of aeroplanes to see (including a Vulcan, Buccaneer and Hawker), the museum hosts a wide range of events including open cockpit events. Sitting in the grounds of a former farmhouse, you'll also find the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, which used as an educational facility and remembrance centre. Other visitor attractions in our area include, Sherwood Forest, the legendary stomping-ground of Robin Hood, is a 450 acre country park in Nottinghamshire. Managed by an RSPB led consortium in partnership with the County Council, the park is home to the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The forest has 900 veteran oak trees including England's Tree of the Year 2014, The Major Oak. The cathedral city of Lincoln and the Castle town of Nottingham.

Slightly smaller than we expected (myself, hubby, 4 year old & our lab) but very cosy. Thoughtful touches - fresh milk, tea coffee sugar etc were great. Would highly recommend. Thanks!

  • Didn't get to stay in the end, due to me changing my dates, Lindsay was however, very accommodating in letting me move my stay x2 and then refunding me, when I was unable stay. This was generous of her, so I will definitely stay in the future and thank Lindsay for her flexibility.

  • What a superb stay, made all the better by Lindsay letting us check in a bit early due to our previous nights arrangements and the special touch of a balloon, banner and card for my birthday. POD was lovely and clean, has everything you need there and the town of Southwell is superb especially our two favourite pubs the Final Whistle with it's quirky little interior, we sat in 1st class! AND the The Admiral Rodney with it's roaring open fire and awesome food! We had a carvery on the Sunday and burgers for tea on the Monday, great staff there too. Would definitely recommend a trip to Southwell Retreat and to Southwell. What a lovely little stay for my Birthday!

  • The Station House is a fantastic place to stay. The standard of the accommodation was first class and the breakfast was amazing. David & Alison were perfect hosts during our stay. We look forward to staying here again when we return to Southwell.

  • Our stay was prefect. David and Alice are very friendly and make a great breakfast. The room was spotless and really comfy. It’s a really nice B&B and feels like you are at home. Great pub over the road too. David also offered to drive us to our friends house down the road which was really kind of him. 100% recommend.

  • My partner and I stayed with David and Alison when we were attending a wedding nearby. I can honestly say that this is best Airbnb we have stayed at and would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Southwell is a lovely town and you can walk to the centre in less than 5 mins from the house. An added bonus is the pub opposite which serves a wide variety of ales. The facilities in the house are top notch (the bathroom is amazing!) and include access to a guest lounge with tea and coffee making facilities. The bedroom was spotless and had everything that we needed during our stay. David and Alison are fantastic hosts who made us breakfast each morning which we pre-selected on a form each day and even drove us to pick up our car the morning after the wedding. The house itself is beautiful and, although we didn't get to see much of it because of the rain, the garden looks lovely. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Southwell Station House. Thanks David and Alison!

Make yourself at home and relax in our private cottage with a contemporary designer look & all of your favourite creature comforts. After exploring the town, or putting the world to rights at work, you can wash your cares away in the huge walk-in shower, or maybe you'd prefer a bath, with it's own tv (to catch up on the soaps?). When you're refreshed and ready to head out, the Minster & the town's cafes, restaurants & shops are a few minutes' stroll away, so you can enjoy that well-earned drink!
The cottage has an open-plan ground floor with a large, fully-equiped kitchen, a relaxing lounge area with a sofa bed and armchair and a table for dining or working. The floors are tiled throughout, in keeping with the contemporary styling. A wall-mounted tv and broadband wi-fi service will keep you entertained and let you shop during your down time. There is a dedicated storage space, handily placed just inside the front door, for your luggage. Adjacent to that is a spiral staircase that leads directly into the first floor bedroom, where the king-size bed always looks inviting after a long day. There's plenty of storage in the bedroom and through the door is the magnificent dressing room with walk-in shower, cupboards and ample room to unwind in. If a shower isn't your thing, head through the final doorway to the bathroom, where you can wash 'n' watch, with the tv conveniently placed, well... just above your toes. Careful with that remote now!
On the walk into the town, you'll pass the entrance to Southwell Minster, an impressive cathedral church with Anglo-Saxon origins. The ruins of the Archbishop of York's Palace are alongside the Minster. The nearby Memorial Park honours the fallen of World War 1, as well as hosting the Southwell Scout Group, the Southwell Town Bowls Club, the Southwell Lawn Tennis Club and Southwell City Football Club, which provides football to over 400 local players in 35 teams, aged from 5 years to veteran. Exiting the Minster grounds via Church Street will take you past the Minster Shop & Refectory and into the town centre. There are numerous stopping-off points to eat, including traditional english/fish & chips, Italian, Indian and some delightful Deli's with freshly produced savouries and sweets and drinks, which are dotted amongst a full range of artisan and functional shops. The nearest town is Newark and other attractions in the locality include Southwell Racecourse, Southwell Golf Club, The Workhouse, Kelham Hall & Country Park, Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park, White Post Farm, Newark Castle & Gardens and the National Civil War Centre @Newark Museum. Slightly further afield are the towns of Mansfield and Chesterfield.
  • Larry's place is perfectly situated in Southwell. Only a 10 minute walk into the centre. A very comfortable house with everything you need for a nice weekend.

  • Lovely little house in a small mews, with beautiful bathrooms. Set on the main road, so easy to find and can park the car on the road right outside. No more than a 5 minute walk to Southwell town centre and the public footpath that cuts past the recreation ground and through the historical minster is a stones throw from the house, very convenient.

Well thought out kitchen with everything you could need (we forgot the ketchup- there was some in the kitchen!) Rachel is a wonderful host, let us have an early check in, provided us with local free range eggs from the village for breakfast- we saw the hens wandering about the village! This was our second stay in Rachel's beautiful annexe. Will definitely stay again.

With enclosed back garden and large private drive, en-suite shower room and a master bathroom with bath and shower.
The accommodation is set over 3 floors, with the top floor containing a light and airy bedroom with a king sized bed and an en-suite shower room. The first floor has 3 further bedrooms, one of which has another king size bed, the next contains twin beds and the last room has a single bed with a pull-out trundle bed that can be set up for an eighth guest. There is also a large and beautifully appointed main bathroom with a shower, bath and his and hers sinks.
Located in the popular and beautiful market town of Southwell, within walking distance of the centre and well located to explore the surrounding area. Attractions such as Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey and Newark Castle are only around 20 minutes by car. There's a play park just 2 minutes across the road from the house and access to the local Southwell Trail, which runs along the line of the old railway, provides a lovely walk into the town. There's a corner shop a 5 minute walk away and another few minutes brings you into the centre of Southwell where you'll find a number of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as the Southwell Minster. You can also easily walk to the National Trust Workhouse from the property (a pleasant 20 minute walk).
  • This is a fantastic, homely place to stay should you wish to visit Southwell and the surrounding areas! Would highly recommend. Becky was so quick in responding to any questions we had. Will be returning here when we come to Southwell again!

  • Very clean, great location for us and everything you could need within the accommodation which is just as the pictures and description suggested. Becky checked on us the night we arrived to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. Definitely recommend!

  • We had a wonderful stay here! The place was clean and very well presented. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. Unfortunately some of the pipework leaked behind the shower valve which resulted in 1 or 2 of us not being able to shower but that certainly wasn’t Becky’s fault by any means. Becky was responsive all weekend and was already on the case of the plumbing faults by the time the last of us were leaving and I’m sure this issue will have been rectified prior to whoever visits next. Despite this issue I still rate our stay 5 stars. Highly recommended, would definitely use again in future🙂

NEWLY REFURBISHED MARCH 2019 I'm a 340 year old converted coaching house set in the heart of Newark with two double bedrooms. One with a double bed and the other with a king size bed. A single put up bed could be provided if you are a group of 5. The bathroom has a bath as well as a shower. There is a lounge area as well as a kitchen with a dining table.
I am very old and quirky full of historical intersts. If you are looking for a pristine place to stay then I'm not the one for you :). I have many features and lots of history.
The apartment is in the town centre with all local amenities close by such as bars, shops and tourist attractions like the museum, Palace Thetre, Newark castle and the market. There's always lots of fun things to do in Newark! Brochures can be found in the apartment.
  • Cracking apartment in the centre of town. Rob’s a great guy and made us feel very welcome. Would recommend to anyone spending a night or two in Newark

  • Robert was a great host and our stay pleasant. Robert was able to provide us an extra cot when requested a few days out from our arrival which was very much appreciated. Would recommend.

  • Central location, close by to Newark showground - cost £10-13 each way in a taxi. We didn’t spend much time here, we just got taxis into and out of the vegan camp out event!

  • Life is all about memories. Our say in Newark for the Easter weekend for a special family birthday, has been made, even more memorable and special by our stay at this Airbnb. A quirky yet stylish apartment which felt like a real home form home. The secret garden is a small oasis of tranquillity that is a must to enjoy with a cup of tea or a glass or two of wine, a sun trap during the day and in the evening with all the lights on the full beauty of the garden comes to life. It is also a haven for wild life, with nesting birds in the garden it is so quiet you forget you are in the centre of a busy historic market town. We absolutely loved our stay, the apartment and its garden are absolute gems it's obvious that much work, thought and love has been spent on them. Rob is an excellent host with great communication, very welcoming we felt like family, we would definitely stay again, and highly recommend here to anyone looking for a place to call home for a stay in or around Newark.
