  • This place was the perfect location and the bed was so comfortable! They made sure to have some granola bars and amenities for us and after a delayed flight and rushing to get here it was much appreciated! Whatever you are looking for this place is the perfect starting, middle, or ending point! Mahalo! 🌸

  • Very spacious, clean, and much more affordable than any of the hotel offerings in the area. Hosts were very helpful and informative!

  • Great location, perfect little spot enjoyed my stay here fully.

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Property was clean and worked out perfectly! Outdoor shower exceeded expectations and great location!

    Tammy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in Hana. We stayed there two nights. It is a studio apartment with the showers and toilet in a little structure outside the main apartment but it is a fine arrangement. I thought it would be weird, but it wasn't really. The apartment had everything we needed in it. It was very clean and the self check in was easy.

    Sonja2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to relax after a busy day in Hana. We loved the outdoor shower, perfectly clean set-up and hot water with the experience of still being outside.

    Katelyn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Top notch. Why just drive to Hāna when you can stay overnight and explore the next day before heading back? This is a great stay for 3 people.

    Andy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Good location, great way to spend a little more time in Hana exploring. Loved the town!

    Laura2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tania was incredibly helpful to us before we headed to Hana and had an entire books of excellent tips in a binder on the counter. The outdoor shower is absolutely lovely and the space is very comfortable, especially after a long day of driving the Road to Hana. The sheets are AMAZING. Definitely recommend and will likely stay again when we come back next year. :)

Ever wondered what it's like to live inside a tiny house? Here is your chance. This cottage is waiting for someone that wants a long detailed exploration of Hawaii or needs a retreat from their life. Whether you're already on the island or coming from far away and want to stay in paradise, this place is ideal. We have bee hives on the land.
The Ocean View Cottage is a classic, 24ft x 8.6 ft long, tiny home on wheels with a deck that is also 24ft x8ft Decorated in rustic Hawaiian style with industrial accents, this cottage boasts expansive ocean views from most windows and the deck, as well as a view of the entire sprawling certified organic farm it is situated above. There is a full kitchen, full bath, living room, and deck. We provide 5 fans, one ceiling fan in the main cabin, one in the loft, a tower fan in the main cabin, a small, extra one, stored in the bathroom and there is one on the deck too. Please note we don't have an AC. It is too expensive to run on Maui and as long as we have a fan on us, we are great! This part of our farm is new. We have lived across the street on 3 acres for 12 years and those 3 acres are totally planted with, and now mature, fruit trees. In the coming years we will be planting these 6 acres. We began planting in early 2019. All the grasses have grown in and the flowers are starting to bloom. Your input of financial energy will help us to buy trees, care for the land, and build our farm infrastructure (Thank you, immensely). On this property, we currently grow about 1/4 of an acre of turmeric commercially and we will be constructing an agriculture building this fall (2019). It will be used to process our turmeric. We are just planted another 1/8th of an acre of turmeric this summer. Also on the agenda is to start planting fruit trees everywhere. The ocean and mountain views are extensive from this cottage. When there is wind this cottage gets great breeze and fortunately this cottage doesn't seem to have mosquitos. (cross our fingers it stays this way.) BED The cottage sleeps 2. There is queen-sized bed up in the loft (accessed by a ladder), and the "L" couch in the living room that can be slept on when separation of the bed is needed. There are windows 2 windows in the loft to allow a cross breeze when wind is present. There is a great 41 inch tower fan we hung on the wall so it covers the entire bed in the loft. I checked it out at peak heat on a sunny day and it was totally comfortable to nap up there. KITCHEN In the kitchen, you’ll find everything needed to make a gourmet meal—cast iron and stainless steel, and nonstick pots and pans, a 30-flavor spice rack, high-quality SHARP knives, and a NutriBullet SELECT 950-watt blender that blends kale to a smooth texture. We provide many different kinds of tea and whole bean Maui coffee in each unit. The kitchen has a french press and a coffee bean grinder so can enjoy the freshest cup of coffee possible. A beautiful natural edge bar on the porch will enable you to savor your surroundings while sipping you coffee or savoring your meal. There is also a small fold down table inside should you prefer an indoor experience for eating. THE DECK 24 ft x 8 ft wide. There is an 8 foot long teak "L" couch on the deck that is large enough to be napped on. There is a basket with two yoga mats and two long yoga cushions. There is plenty of space to practice yoga on the deck. The deck railings are great to throw your leg up on and stretch. There is an 8 foot long slab of local cook pine that we made into a bar top for you to enjoy outside eating, with two tractor seat stools. (the cottage has 4 stools if needed). The deck is very cool most of the day, but about 45 min just before sunset, the sun is low enough to blast the deck and it gets hot if it is sunny. I planted some bananas to block this afternoon sun. TELEVISION/CABLE/NEWS TV is not possible here as we are off that grid. We suggest you let your short stay here be about disconnecting and getting in touch with yourself, your friends, and nature. INTERNET There is solid wifi. The the password is swiftfish820. OUR LOCATION We are located in the heart of Hana, home to 5 of the most beautiful BEACHES in the world; boasting black, red, and white sands, with the closest beach less then 1 mile away. You can view them all in the guidebook provided in the cottage. A NOTE ABOUT VALUE to think about when you're reviewing, analyzing our farm, or dreaming of living here. There are a few things people don't understand about living in Hawaii esp. in Hana. There are a lot of hidden costs to maintain a life out here. When it rains it pours. We have to fix our road a few times a year after big rains, which requires tractor work. It's very costly. When we need new rock laid, imagine trucking that rock on the Hana Highway from the other side of the island. Then once that rock is laid, it can sink into the ground and disappears or gets washed away again and again. Since this is one of the wettest places on earth, composting happens very fast. Which means our buildings rot very fast. We have to paint every 5 years instead of every 15 years. A 30-year roof only lasts 15 here. Our cars deteriorate at an astronomical rate. The metal on weed wakers and mowers rot. Small motor engines break often. The salt air is very damaging. On the mainland, a person might by 2 or 3 lawn mowers in their life time. We need to purchase one every 5 years. My neighbor buys a new one every 2 years. Our fridges get rusty from the salt in the air. A new one needs to be bought every 5-8 years. There are termites everywhere, and we need to tent the buildings for spraying every few years. The cost of a building is about $300 a sqft. On the mainland, it's around $100. The cost of cement is $400 per yard. On the mainland, it is $100/yard. It takes us about 30 hours a week just to keep the jungle from taking over our farm. Rain, sun, rain, sun everything grows fast. Bugs get in, cleaning needs to happen every day in everyone's house no matter how fancy it is. Organic certification cost $1000 every year. When we need supplies, it takes us a 12 hour day to go get supplies from the other side just so can to live out here. We have to go about once every 10 days but it typically happens once a week. So that's a huge fuel cost to go to the store because we have to drive to Kahului. And then there is the property cost and insurance, we live in a hurricane path. So when you think of the value, please think of these things. The rental allow us to maintain the property. There are a lot of hidden expenses that renters don't think about. Help keep our ratings high so we can keep it up. It's a lot of work. We LOVE it. And we love sharing it with you. we are so incredibly thankful for you.
Our neighborhood speaks for itself. It's beauty and charm comes from our secluded location and the mountain and ocean views. You'll hear birds and bamboo singing, winds and rain, ocean pounding at times, sometimes kids playing, goats off in the distance, during whale season, Nov-Mar, we hear whales all the time. The famous Hamoa beach is 10 minutes, 7 sacred pools are about 30 minutes, red sands beach is 5 minutes, wianapanapa black sand beach is 2 minutes. There's a lot of local food. Soon there will be a few food trucks across the street from the farm. Kahanu Gardens, which boosts the biggest Hawaiian gathering place, in all the islands, is 2 miles away. The famous and largest lava tube in Hawaii is right next door.
  • Fantastic location and view. Would stay here again. Must be OK with spiders.

    Ellen2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house with a grand ocean view lanai was an absolute delight! The naturalized gardens are beautiful, the birds and insects sing, the air is so clean. Rural living at its best!

  • This cottage was perfect! A great escape from the city noise, perfect for relaxing and enjoying Hana. The full kitchen with spices to boot was a nice surprise! We would definitely come back!

  • The tiny house was really cute. Right off the highway and easy to get in and out of on your trip. Would have stayed more than a night if we had the time.

  • Had a great stay! Home is right off the road to Hana

    Emily2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t find a single complaint with our recent two nights stay at the farm. The place was just adorable as can be, fully stocked with any amenity we could think of, and then some. We’ve already given several referrals to friends who are interested in staying when they travel to Maui. If doing the road to Hana, staying overnight opens the door of opportunities, and staying two nights affords even more! This is place was just the perfect amount of space for two adults and the mornings views were incredible. It’s felt like our own little private oasis. We are interested in staying again in the future for sure! Staying in Hana feels like I’m immersing yourself in real Hawaii, away from the more touristy parts. If you are considering you should!!! :) Oh! And we appreciated beyond words all the helpful tips and info we were sent beforehand by the owners. So helpful!!! Many thanks!!!!

This is the sweetest tiny home cottage in paradise you'll ever see. Our cottage is located on an organic, off the grid, farm sanctuary. The whole 2.5-acre fruit farm, including both cottages, are fully run by the power of the sun. Rejuvenate from life.
The cottage sleeps 2. But probably best suited for one person long term. Meet the "The Garden Cottage" The cottage is located among the gardens of our CERTIFIED ORGANIC fruit farm. You’ll walk from the parking lot, through the citrus orchards, to find this beauty tucked into our banana ally. (It's about 100-foot walk). It stands at the edge of our 2000 sqft turmeric field on one side and our seasonal river on the other. Our 850 sqft greenhouse is right out your door. This cottage is decorated in Hawaiian craftsman style with a tinge of industrial flair. It has parking in our main lot. A butler cart is provided to transport luggage to the cottage if needed. This cottage boasts mountain and ocean views, and a full detached outdoor bathroom. It's about 250sqft with the loft. Kitchen This is a full kitchen (minus the oven), not a kitchenette. You'll find everything you need to make a gourmet meal. The first thing you’ll notice is the beautiful blue grey crystal like granite counter top. It has a deep sink. There are two burners. We added both cast iron as well as stainless pots and pans. I promise you, our KNIVES are SHARP and well made. This cottage has a 30-flavor spice rack to save you the costly expense of buying herbs while you're on the island. There is an under-the-counter size fridge with freezer. There are 2 ice cube trays inside the freezer. There are a kettle, coffee grinder, and French press for your tea and coffee needs. We've stocked it with local coffee beans, tea, milk, and sugar. You'll find glasses for water, wine, and hot drinks. We tried to spare no expense in the kitchen and think of everything you might need, even providing a few Tupperware. You'll find the latest model of a Nutri-bullet blender. I researched a lot to find a great blender that does as good of a job as a Vita-mix. I believe I found it. The test is always whether it can blend kale to a smooth even consistency. This little blender can! See photos of everything that is in the kitchen cabinets. Oh, and there is a ceiling fan!!! Bedroom loft You must be in, at least, such physical shape as to climb a ladder. This unit has stairs but they are steep. They take you up to what we feel is heaven. The loft has windows in every direction and if you've arrived at night you're in for a treat when you wake up. There are three different lighting options and a tower fan that blows cool. You’ll get a good night sleep on our comfortable mattress and we have top of the line hotel sheets. We provide 4 pillows in two different styles. One of the styles is special and each edge of the pillow has a slightly different shape. Find the side that works for you. The loft has a low ceiling and it's not possible to stand fully upstairs. It's a space for sleeping, just like in all the tiny homes as seen on TV. But this loft has much bigger headroom than most. So you climb upstairs and slip right in. You can see the ocean and the mountains from bed. On clear nights star gaze right from bed is magical. And then there is sunrise. The birds are the best part of morning. It feels like we live in a bird sanctuary. Living room Has windows in every direction. There is a fan, couch which seats 2 people (too small to be slept on), an end table and a coffee table. Television/Cable/News. There is no way to have television here. We are off the grid. We suggest you set your intentions on disconnecting from the grid for your stay. It will probably be difficult for some, but so worth it. Bathroom This is a modern rustic outdoor stand-alone ¾ bathroom (no bathtub). The roof above the shower and sink is clear, so the sunlight comes in to give you an even more of an outdoor feel. It's so fun when it's raining. It’s magical to take a shower outdoors. You’re going to love this place. Aaaaand then there is the reality, you are coming to a lush tropical environment, which means wet, which mean mosquitos and bugs. Bugs go in phases. We just live with them. Some times of year are worse than others. This cottage has an outdoor bathroom. Most people are totally happy and others are not. It's about 3 in 150 guests that tell us the bugs were a bit much for them. It's so beautiful here, and that is the reality of here, it doesn't phase most people. Fruit trees We have about 150 fruit trees on the farm. Bananas, coconuts, papaya, citrus abiu and more. Note for long-term farm visits. You can feel at home here and relax. We are out of all major emf's as found in the city. Note: we are located in a rainforest the boosts 60-100 inches a year. To put that number into perspective, we don't have to water any of our crops. In fact, our veggie crops need to be in a greenhouse to protect the soil from the compaction of the strong rains. The unit has a huge umbrella for your use while on the property, and emergency crank flashlight, and fire extinguisher. This is a non-smoking property. A NOTE ABOUT VALUE to think about when you're reviewing, analyzing and dreaming of living here. There are a few things people don't understand about living in Hawaii esp. in Hana. There are a lot of hidden costs to maintain a life out here. When it rains it pours. We have to fix our road a few times a year after big rains, which requires tractor work. It's very costly. we live a 1- mile walk from Waianapanapa, the famous black sands beach. It's breathtaking. If you stay with us, go there first in the morning. get there before 9 am and you'll have the beach all to yourself. The tour buses start coming around 10:30. There are also of 5 glorious beaches inside 10 miles and about 1/2 hour from the seven sacred pools.
  • Super cozy and rustic.

  • Simple, cozy lodging on the outskirts of Hana Town.

    Peter2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this wonderful, clean tiny home. Bed was very comfortable and the views are so beautiful. We had fresh orange juice from fruit we picked. Great knives, kitchen utensils, and pans for cooking! This was exactly the adventure I was looking for!

    Sarah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great time. Susie and Randy were very friendly and provided numerous helpful tips about the trip to Hana and what to do and where to eat once we got there. The cabin itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and just a very cool and unique place to stay. I was a little wary of some of the reviews mentioning bugs and the driveway being a problem, but we took it slow on the driveway in our sedan, and the bugs stayed on the outside. The outdoor bathroom was pretty cool, too. It was a fun experience and a great value, and we would happily do it again, if/when we make it back to Hana.

    Michael2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway spot on the Road to Hana. Tucked in a quiet place on their farm, which we were provided fresh fruits from (damn good orange juice was made). Communication and very very detailed instructions and information allowed us to easily find this place and enjoy our stay. Highly recommend for people looking to disconnect from their busy lives, but do not recommend for people who do not like bugs. Will definitely stay again!

  • It was a great experience staying here! We love our stay there! We definitely want to come back in the future. We try to be neutral when giving feedback to Airbnb hosts as we understand that it can be difficult maintaining a space for rental. Pros: - Great location. 3 min drive to black sand beach, 5 -10 min drive to food trucks and other restaurants. I didn't have time to go to the lava tube but that's super close too. - Living in the jungle is the best! The house is surrounded by banana trees and other bushes and flowers. It has beautiful view day and night. I wish it was banana season! - Very quiet. All you hear is birds and insects. - The host was very nice and shared a lot of useful tips about Hana (things to do, places to eat. etc.) We really appreciate it as we both were first time tourists. Non-pros: (They're not really cons, just things to keep in mind) - There is another bungalow nearby. I guess we could hear each other because it's so quiet. It made me nervous going to shower and toilet. - Lots of insects. We found a giant spider near sink, and were able to get him outside the house. If you're scared of insects, well...it can be a nightmare. - The road to this place is bumpy, as explained by the host.

  • The Tiny house is perfect for after a day on the Hana Highway! You don't have to stress and you can explore the rest of the highway the next day. The accommodation was super cozy and you had your peace. The outside shower is a great experience and the bed was a dream. But you have to climb a steep, narrow staircase to get to the bed. Although there are a lot of mosquitoes around the house, there were practically none in the house. Just always close the door. I would rent this property again.

The bamboo ceiling features a rooftop prism-shaped window which crowns the centerpiece of the room – the bed. From the bed, you can gaze upon the stars at night or watch the sun rise over the ocean. This incredibly romantic shelter, which features a full kitchen equipped with a gas stove, huge closet, and very private outdoor shower, is the perfect place for honeymooners from around the globe. Come celebrate your new adventure or find peace and solitude in this rejuvenating and ground-breaking haven. Truly a place where nature is honored and your Eco-Soul can relax. Our Bamboo Temple offers: Beautiful Panoramic Ocean View - Private Bathroom - Bamboo 4 Poster Bed - Private Kitchen - Private Deck - Walk In Closet Late Arrival: There is an additional $45 charge for late arrivals between 6pm - 10pm and $65 from 10pm to 11pm. We are a small family owned business and have to hire an after hour guest-services person to welcome late night arrivals and show you to your room or cottage. We prefer check ins between 3pm and 6pm. Thank you for understanding our situation. ***ACCOMMODATIONS FOR 2 PEOPLE** - (However if you have other friends traveling with you, please check our additional beautiful listings). ABOUT OUR PROPERTY: All of our buildings are ecologically built and are often adorned with spiritual art and hand-crafted masterpieces from Pacific and Asian countries. The bamboo temple has an especially stunning ocean view that invites you to gaze at the moon or seduces you to meditate with our spectacular sunrise. We are surrounded by lush jungle, ponds, flower gardens, fruit trees, and a nearby waterfall (reached by a short downhill climb) which flows into natural pools for swimming from which you can gaze upon the breath-taking view of the valley. Our land is a wonderful place to wander and explore: you can take a short walk passing the chickens, the homes of our bees, countless species of flowers and plants and stop by our temples, where you can rest, relax and meditate. For the adventurer, our ocean trail is a moderately challenging cliff trail and the hike takes about a half an hour to get down to the ocean. You will enjoy the wild beauty and the untouched nature of this piece of rural Maui, which is occasionally visited by dolphins and turtles, and in the wintertime, the whales can be spotted breaching from your bed. But be sure to prepare with a good pair of hiking shoes, some snacks and feel your feet, the trail can be very slippery after a heavy rain.
We are located in the Valley of the white Owl, the Pueo. We have two old Hawaiian churches. We have a really beautiful guestbook in each room that shares more about the history of this place and the valley we are located in.
  • We had a great time!

  • We had a great time at the bamboo temple! We spent the first half of our honeymoon here. It was nice being so remote with a beautiful view. William works at the property and he did a great job showing us all there was to do on the property! We did the ocean trail which was a great experience and enjoyed the music temple and visiting with the chickens. The break from cell service was a nice change (although the main house has extremely fast WiFi service when you need it). The outdoor shower was fantastic and you can’t beat the views! You are on the road to Hana and very close to Twin falls. We enjoyed the nearby town Paia and had some fabulous fish and chips and ice cream over there.

  • All I can say is WOW! This place is nothing but amazing. The hikes to the ocean, the views from the waterfall, swimming in the TOP of the waterfall. This trip has left me speechless and full of memories. The ocean views from our window or gazing up to stars at night. I left energized and my heart filled with love. You won’t regret booking this place. My partner and I needed a place to reconnect and this place reminded us that nothing else matters but the love you have for all.

  • The best place and experience we had in our first time in Maui. Excellent service and amazing people.

    Alex2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We are just leaving Maui And very sad to go. The first couple nights we stayed on the west side of the island in Lahaina . We arrived at the Maui retreat (via Jeep :) and felt like we arrived in paradise. The west side was resort-ish with lots of people but this was exactly what we needed . William was a wonderful host . The place is beautiful . Exactly as pictured . We needed to disconnect, get away from stress , get married !! Kutira was amazing . We got married on the beach with turtles and she spoke to our souls . She is wonderful . We will forever remember her . The VIEWS alone are enough to recommend this place , I slept better then I have since I was a kid . Waking up to The sunrise over the ocean was amazing . It’s peaceful , quiet , beautiful . We went into town everyday ; it’s close to a lot of neat little towns but we loved coming home to the bamboo temple . We hiked, cooked looked at the stars . There is yoga available (we unfortunately missed ) . The outdoor shower is the best .. so much beauty and peace here . Will forever recommend and be grateful for our time here.

  • The bamboo temple was the perfect place for our honey moon! We had tons of privacy and the land was absolutely breathtaking. It was so refreshing to be able to get away from the crowds and still be completely submerged in the beauty Maui has to offer!

    Brianna2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a romantic getaway to refresh and recharge. Stunning views and complete peace and tranquility in some of the most beautiful scenery. Great hospitality and open sharing of love and tips on things to do.

    Michael2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is quite a dream location. Remote, but not too far down the winding part of the famous Hana highway on the windswept Northern coast of Maui east of Paia and Haiku town. The Bamboo Temple provides a view from the bed that one would expect to pay thousands per night for at a Ritz Carlton or similar luxury resort. Stars through the skylight, moonshine on the ocean, and sunrises through dramatic cloud formations greet you from the floor to ceiling windows and keep you lingering in bed! The architecture of the building itself is stunning and thoughtfully appointed with art and equipment. Despite the open view from/to the bed, privacy is provided by the landscaping on the very well-maintained grounds near the cottages. Some of the far-flung paths are treacherous! But this is a wilderness area and very exciting to explore for those interested. Abundant fruits growing in the jungle provided us with fun cocktail ingredients :D This was a splurge trip so mostly we dined and beached in other parts of the island, which proved a bit of a drive on some days. That said, several great restaurants are within 30 minutes (such as the venerable Mama's Fish House), and one should always expect to do a bit of driving in Maui anyway. This spot would be especially good for those seeing solitude, those with a particularly eco-minded approach to life, and those intending to stay in and cook most of their own meals. If you need a white sand beach within flip-flop distance or constant internet access, this would not be a great choice. Personally, we found it to be an astounding value for a completely unique stay we will never forget. We would be very pleased to come visit again!

Aloha! Please read the entire listing and view all photos prior to confirming your reservation... Located in the 'Heart of Hana', this stunning multi-unit beach house is nestled in the lush Hawaiian jungle with towering bamboo and fruit trees next to a natural flowing creek formed out of lava rock. Enjoy outdoor living at its finest in our unique island home! Soak under starlight, fall asleep to the pulse of the moonlit ocean, and wake up to birds greeting the rising sun.
The Sunrise Hana Surf Loft does not have a typical layout as homes do on the mainland, it is very much a “local Hawaiian home”. It has been designed with an open concept floor plan on the second level of a two-story home, utilizing outdoor living space. Guests have their own 1300 sqft self-contained unit with a private entrance, 2 California King mattresses, full kitchen, living space, 55" LCD Smart TV with complimentary Netflix, and wrap around patio. (*700 sq ft indoor and 600 sq ft outdoor). The back lanai has its own screened-in sunroom where you will find a sprawling king size mattress. Enjoy a hot bath in an extra deep soaker tub under the stars, or a cool plunge gazing into the vast mountain range and towering bamboo. The unit is equipped with a full-size fridge/freezer, purified water dispenser/ice maker, glass top range with oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, slow cooker, rice maker, kitchen utensils/cookware/cutlery. Coffee, tea and non-perishable snacks are also placed in the suite for your enjoyment. A cooler, beach chairs, umbrellas are beach towels are provided for your use during your stay. Linens and bath towels are provided. Extra bed linens, 2 pillows, and a blanket are located in the grey trunk inside the loft. The loft does not have air conditioning. The house is equipped with many windows, proper ventilation as well as 7 ceiling fans. We are unable to provide laundry services during your stay with us. Two cats live on the property, they are not allowed inside the loft, however they find their way onto the wrap around lanai. They are friendly, excellent with children, and are cared for by the resident in the ohana. A play-pen and baby items are available upon request and must be made ahead of time to ensure we have them available for you during your stay. They are on a first come first serve basis.
I have entered 50+ places of interest on the Airbnb Guidebook that is available once you have completed your reservation with us. We are across the street from two beaches (black sand and white sand beaches), one which is less than a 2 min walk from our home. Dining and commercial retail are all within walking distance.
  • Cute spot! Restful.

  • Location was great! Felt like I was in nature. Loved everything about our stay. Would recommend this location to anyone and would love to return.

    Veronica2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This loft is adorable and well appointed with everything we needed. Towels, wash cloths, extra bedding for the oversized sofa, NetFlix, internet, one car parking, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and comfortable king beds. The two cats were very friendly. Very clean and we will definitely book here the next time we are in town. Honestly, it was better than staying at Travaasa.

    Mink2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool place! Would stay again. Hana was incredible and definitely worth the overnight stay.

  • Going to Hana? U must stay at this place to get the full experience. We took our time and enjoyed all we could on the way, then were able to rest up at this perfect spot. It was clean, has everything you need, quiet except for the awesome tropical birds, really cool and comfy and Tania responded immediately to my one question. We then had the second day to venture further past Hana which we highly recommend. We are already planning r trip back and hoping to stay here again. Aloha!

    Anna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This adorable loft is just a short walk from the beach and perfectly located in the small town of Hana! It was a great spot to rest from the long day of adventures on the road there and gather strength for the next day of fun! I love how it felt that we were tucked into the forest and the waves from the ocean lulled us to sleep. Wish we would've stayed there longer than one night. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home!

  • Very clean place to stay in an absolute great location. Homemade banana bread was excellent. A very rural feel to the place with a next door rooster to wake you up at sunrise. Very calm very enjoyable.

  • My wife and I wanted to break up the "drive to Hana" into 2 days. We found Rolene's place as advertised. It's a cute back house with easy check in. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable bed and bathroom. Rolene was a quick communicator and helped us find a great spot for dinner.

  • We always wanted to stay overnight in Hana. This was a perfect location. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and a separate bedroom. While there was no ac the unit is set up perfectly for breezes to flow through. If you are looking for a fancy expensive place this is not for you. If you enjoy living with the local folk and don’t mind the sounds of roosters and enjoy beautiful flora this place is great. It was the perfect location to head south to the Seven Pools and hike into the bamboo forest

    Isaac2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved staying here in Hana. It’s a very affordable option and had everything we needed. The room itself was very tidy and had several nice touches and artwork. It’s a bit outside of Hana town, so you’ll likely have to drive 5-10 minutes to most things - like beaches or food. That being said, it’s a very convenient location overall. We really appreciated the kitchen, which came stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc - our first night in town, several of the food trucks ran out of ingredients and closed early, and some of the restaurants in Hana close early, so we stopped by the local market and picked up some food and cooked it in the kitchen. It was great! Overall, we would recommend staying here!

    Adam2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was perfect and Rolene was very comminicative. Thanks again!

    Josh2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • To be able to stay in Hana was an amazing plus. The road to Hana is a challenge and to stay in Hana and continue to go south the next day to the National Park was a real advantage. We also enjoyed a sunrise on Black Beach which is nearby. Loved the big porch and picnic table at the apartment too. We stayed in Unit 3....it was great.

    Ruth2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

  • This place was the perfect stop for a couple of blissful days at the end of the Road to Hana. We had everything we needed, and the location made it easy to see everything nearby. The smoothies and ice cream from Guy's farm stand out front were a bonus too!

    Sharmin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly what we needed for our one night stay in Hana. We are a married couple in our 30’s and then place was rustic but with all the necessary amenities - coffee pot, large bed, refrigerator, and easy check in and check out. Minutes from Hana town - we had dinner at The Ranch and it was great food. In the morning we had breakfast on the lanai in some beautiful lush surroundings. It’s perfect for a simple stay.

  • What a cool place to spend a night on Hana. Nice little room and bathroom. Nothing big or glamorous but exactly what we needed and couldn’t have been happier. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room was super clean and quiet. A little hot with no AC but the provided a ton of fans. Felt like we got a little taste of life in Hana staying the night.

Our cottage is a cozy little home with everything you'll need If you are looking to sit back and relax, or get busy in the kitchen in your home away from home! The Farm Cottage offers a view of exotic fruit trees, and flowers, plus a sea view on the horizon. Listen to the birds chirp in the morning, and watch the sky turn colors as the sun sets. Our accommodations are licensed with the State of Hawaii. Our license number is BBHA 2020/0001
We are located on a 5 acre organic fruit farm, Olamana Organics. It is a working farm, so you may see us harvesting avocado, and citrus, along with a variety of other exotic fruits. Feel free to take a walk around and enjoy!
We are located just walking distance to Ka' eleku cavern, or the "Hana Lava Tube". The stunning "Kahanu garden" is just a mile down the road. There are various food trucks, and "Hana Farms," that are walkable distances. Great for lunch. Wai'ānapanapa state park is also a short 2 miles away. All of our favorite beaches are 10-15 minute drive through the town center. An accommodation booklet is provided in the cottage to look at for food recommendations, safetly, and Hana/ Hawaii etiquette tips.
  • After spending a week on the west side of the island, we were ready for some 'real' relaxation, which we found at Monyca's place. The home, service and amenities went above and beyond our expectations. We stay at a lot of Airbnb's around the world and can easily say this is one of the top. I think it was so amazing because the home is a reflection of how grounded and kind the hosts are. It was also very easy living - no massive booklet with all these switches you have to navigate and certain ways to use the home... it was all intuitive and easy. In addition to the beautiful home, the property itself is honestly like nothing I've seen. We've dreamed of living in a place like this at some point in our lives, so it was nice to test it out. Rolling grass fields with so many different fruit trees and beautiful flowers. If I was to describe this home in two words, I would say peaceful and grounding. Thanks again for hosting us Monyca and we will definitely stay with you when we return!

    Darren2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ola & Monyca are awesome people and we felt lucky to have the chance to spend a few days on their farm with them. The cottage is the only unit on the property other than their primary residence. Parking is right next to the entrance of the cottage. The charm of the property and the area make this place unique and you have a distant view of the ocean from the living room. They provide great extras like beach towels, banana bread, coffee and fresh fruit & veggies grown on the farm. The owners were raised in Hana and know all the best spots to visit. Very unique experience when visiting in Hana. We will stay here again when we return!

    Howard2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommended if you are planning to stay Hana. Nice lovely cottage with fantastic view of the tropical plantation and sea! We loved the brightness from the large glass walls. The owner was very nice providing us the famous banana bread and fruits from their own farm. It was fun checking out the tropical plants on the farm. Great experience.

  • Rolene is an incredible host! She was extremely quick with responding and very easy to communicate with. She went above and beyond in her hospitality and I am so happy I chose her air b&b to stay in! Also the space is much bigger and comfier than the photos make it look. It’s a really great set up and perfectly priced . It feels very safe on her property which was very important to me as I was traveling alone. You can have as much or as little contact with Rolene as you would like, & she is just around the corner in the front building if you need anything. It’s a perfect location if you are staying in Hana and quite honestly the only spot I could see that was fairly priced. I highly recommend staying here if you are traveling to Hana!

  • Felt like I had arrived at a cherished family cottage. Super clean & well maintained. Well stocked kitchen- & by that I mean there were a few sharp knives, a couple of cutting boards, a blender, measuring cups (not that I measured anything!) and nice pots. Just enough to make smoothies and simple cooking if wanted. Beds are comfy as are linens. There are plenty of towels, books & games, tiki torches. I wish we could have stayed a week. We did stay 2 nights. Short walk to the beach. All there is to do and see beyond Hana are only a short drive further down the road, which is super nice. The screened in lanai is surreal for sleeping and reading. The orange kitty about town is a friendly ambassador who loves to be scratched and play in the grass. Some other reviewers mentioned the road noise- the speed limit is 20mph and there are very few cars after dinner time. This was not an issue at all for us. The upstairs neighbors were pleasant and courteous, and I hope we were the same to them. Common courtesy and respect is all that is needed. Hana is a quiet place... inspires us to listen to the ocean, birds and plants and all that is around and within us. There are bananas & avocados in the trees. Such beauty and serenity. I hope we can return someday.

  • We loved our stay in Hana! We come to Maui often and always make the trip to Hana. We wanted to actually stay a couple nights this trip and this cottage was perfect. Great location (I see what people mean about the road noise but I didn’t think it was too bad), spacious place and we loved the screened in Lanai! The beds were comfortable and the shower was good as well. The only downside for us was how much you could hear the upstairs neighbors. Besides that we loved this house and we would absolutely stay here again!

    Sarah2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome beach house! Extremely comfortable!

    Joy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for our night in Hana!

    Rachel2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I wish we would have stayed two nights!! Our last day in Maui we decided to stay in Hana after traveling the road to Hana. This condo was just perfect. I just love the slower pace of the town of Hana. After a long week of hitting vacation hard in South Maui, the day of rest in Hana was awesome. This condo has all you need!

    Raena2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space on the Road to Hana. The lanai with the day bed provided the most unique experience unlike any other. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special place to stay on the east side of Maui.

    Daniel2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely retreat in Hāna. Great location and roomy place with lot of special touches to make your stay special. Sleeping on the lanai bed was heaven.

    Ingrid2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay on our trip around south east Maui. Had lots of bits to use (bbq etc.), plus they were really helpful and responsive to our messages which was great.

Located on the mid-slopes of Maui’s Haleakala volcano, Makawao has one foot in its plantation past and another in its thriving arts community. This charming town was once named one of the top 25 arts destinations in the United States. Makawao is the biggest little town in the region locally known as Upcountry Maui and is famous for its Hawaiian cowboys, or paniolo. Since the late 19th century, horseback-riding paniolo have wrangled cattle in Maui’s wide-open upland fields. The Makawao Rodeo, held yearly on the Fourth of July, is Hawaii's largest paniolo competition and has been an Upcountry tradition for more than 50 years. The weekend events include a parade and traditional rodeo competitions such as barrel racing, calf roping and bareback bronco riding, all with a few Hawaiian twists. For a snack, follow the locals to get a famous cream puff from T. Komoda Store. Established in 1916 by Takezo Komoda, a Japanese plantation worker, this little store and bakery does big business. Lines can be long in the morning when everything’s fresh, so come early. The bakery is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can also spend the afternoon meandering through the eclectic shops, boutiques and art galleries. It’s a town of working artists, where you can watch glassblowers, wood sculptors and painters as they fulfill your order.  Makawao is also home to theHui Noeau Visual Arts Center, where visitors can take classes and explore free gallery exhibits. The combination of its paniolo heritage and its lively artistic community make Makawao a unique stop on your visit to Maui.
  • This place is amazing! The location is a bit removed but I think that just adds to the charm. So relaxing and beautiful and a great starting point for heading all over the island. The hosts were so friendly and helpful and made our stay great!

    Kirsten2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Close to upcountry and all the best off-the-beaten-path things in Maui. This rental is a respite and one we will return to, most definitely.

    Lori2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful view! Josh and Shannan have a great setting and so many fine details that made it truly a great place to stay! I recently stayed 6 nights and have plans to return. It’s a very quiet setting with views of the north shore that you can enjoy while eating breakfast on the balcony by the pool. They offer great choices for breakfast, including making smoothies if you request. They are so friendly and likable that you just can’t help but to enjoy your stay. It’s close to the cute towns of Paia and Makawao where you can go to many fine restaurants for dinner or they even have a grill that you can cook your own food. Love this place!

    Michelle2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the Maui Northshore Lookout was phenomenal. To list everything we loved would exhaust my character count in this review. To start: Upcountry in general and this B&B specifically are absolutely gorgeous. We made it a point each day to get back early in order to watch the sunsets each evening... with some Champagne or IPA in hand and from the lava-rock pool/hot tub, of course. It cools down each night, which makes waking up each morning with a fresh cup of coffee truly refreshing. The attention to detail Shannan, Josh, and Erin put into the place is amazing. I was already in awe while checking in, but when I opened the closet and saw a cursive "aloha" brushed/written on the extra blanket, I couldn't stop smiling. Everything about the place is spectacular: again, the pool!, adirondack chairs, a telescope, take one/leave one beer and wine area, chairs & snorkel gear in the closet, the sand/rock garden, the firepits, the amazing bed and pillows, the welcome bag, etc, etc, etc, etc. Staying here was such a wonderful difference from the over-priced and touristy resort areas we had previously stayed at. We won't want to stay anywhere else on Maui ever again. Last but not least, Mimi was a wonderful sunny late-afternoon and evening outdoor companion. Filled our fur-baby needs perfectly!

    Ryan2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon and Josh’s place was a delight. It was the perfect start to our honeymoon - secluded, peaceful, great amenities and access to lots of fun close by activities! We will be back!

    Gracie2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at North Shore Lookout. Our room and the surrounding of the house could not have been any better. You can start the day with a fabulous freshly made smoothie by Josh, having a stunning view of the ocean and green hills. The location is just perfect as you are almost alone in the nature and different p.o.i., like the airport and the road to Hana, aren’t too far away. We would highly recommend this place and would love to come back one day... Thank you Shannan and Josh for paying attention to each and every detail and for being such nice hosts! You made our stay at Maui unforgettable. Mahalo!

Encourage and create your own Hawaiian memories by reserving a few days or a week of your vacation near Hana, Maui.
  • Great Airbnb for a halfway stop if you’re doing Road to Hana! Staying here made our trip a two-day journey, rather than cramming in all of the spots in one day- highly recommend! I recommend arriving before sunset to get situated.

    Sarah2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I rented Iwalani's place for a couple days of seclusion before meeting up with the rest of the family for vacation in Kihei! This was the exact retreat we were looking for. The sunrises were UNBELIEVABLE, the house was clean and charming, and we LOVED the hammock / hot tub. Iwalani's recommendations for local spots were wonderful and we made use of a few of them. Because the kitchen is well stocked, we did a lot of cooking at home, but there were also some delicious food trucks down the road. Our flight got in late, so we ended up having to do the Road to Hana in the dark, which is not something I recommend if you're unfamiliar with it. Instructions for how to find the house were very clear, so we were able to find it even in the dark; however, you will not have service when you arrive, so BE SURE TO SCREEN SHOT / SAVE all instructions for when you get there to check-in. NOTE: This is on the more jungle-like side of the island, so if spiders or other bugs bother you, this isn't the place for you. If you're willing to overlook the critters, this will be one of the best views you can get the entire trip! We were a little spooked at the pitch black space upon arrival, but upon sunrise in the morning, the views took our breath away. We couldn't recommend this spot more for a short stint on vacation. It was secluded yet homey, and so romantic. Thank you so much!

  • This property is magical!

    Jc2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place in a beautifully green and remote part of Maui. Driving the Hana Highway to get there is it’s own breathtaking (and sometimes hair-raising) experience. The house itself was sparklingly clean with great amenities. It is even more beautiful and peaceful than the pictures show!

    Andrew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly as advertised. What an amazing house—the view, the location, the breeze, the hot tub—everything. Did not disappoint. Already trying to figure out how I can make my way back.

    Eboni2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot. Fantastic views. Love it.

    Luke2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend!! Beautiful and spacious bungalow on a very private lot. Check in was super easy. Directions were very good! I forgot to add the address to my navigation before heading on the road to Hana (we didn’t have service) and we relied on Iwalani’s directions to find the property. Worked like a charm. There were fresh flowers inside when we arrived and they smelled AMAZING! Very nice touch. We had a wonderful and relaxing time sitting on the huge patio. But— stargazing while sitting in the hot tub was our favorite! We also definitely didn’t miss air conditioning because it got so cool at night that we even had to get up and close the windows a few times.

    Natalie2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is right off of the road to Hana and is very convenient to all of the best attractions. Bring food to cook because the places nearby seem to close early and you won’t want to be driving around when it gets dark. The house itself is adorable and even though there is no air conditioning there are lots of windows to allow the breeze to come through. I would love to stay here again!

  • What a special place! Shannan and Josh have really outdone themselves. This bed and breakfast is even better in person. They are the perfect hosts and have thought of every detail. Besides what’s not to love about getting a freshly made latte with breakfast ever morning! Perfect location away from all the touristy hubbub. Close to the super cute town of Paia and if you fancy watching the surfers in action don’t miss taking a short drive to Ho’okipa lookout! Trust me you won’t regret staying at this beautiful b&b P.S. looking for cheap but great eats? Go eat at surf club tacos in Pa’ia and don’t miss getting an ice cream cone at Artisan!

  • We stayed in the Pele suite and we wished we could've stayed here for the entirety of our trip had they not been so booked. Josh, Shannan, and Erin were incredibly friendly, easy going, and had useful tips for exploring the island. Breakfast provided in the morning saved us a lot of time thinking about where to go eat and helped us get our day adventure started. The coffee served here is even better than some we had elsewhere, and the smoothies were a refreshing non-coffee option. We used the softpack insulated cooler and the ice packs provided nearly everyday we were there. We were also able to fill our water bottles with ice and water from the lobby area. Be sure to allow some time to relax on the premise as there's a great lush view and the pool area is quite private given most guests are out and about. After a long day adventure, it was nice to sleep peacefully in their comfy beds. Overall, it was a great location to explore the island and the upcountry area of Maui and a good retreat away from the common resort and condo areas of Maui. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we make another visit to this island.

  • North Shore Lookout is a little slice of heaven on earth! My husband and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Shannan and Josh are amazing hosts. As soon as you arrive you will notice all the love and detail they put into this amazing Airbnb!! They are so warm and friendly and have wonderful suggestions on places to visit and yummy restaurants to enjoy. The views from their beautiful backyard are breathtaking. Make sure to enjoy gazing up at the stars in their relaxing jacuzzi. The bed was so incredibly comfortable and the luxurious bathroom was clean, spacious and so beautifully decorated. Every morning you are welcomed to a delicious breakfast with coffee and juice. I Ioved the homemade jams and really appreciated that there was always a protein option to choose from. My husband and I had such an amazing time here and we can't wait to come back and visit!

  • The North Shore Lookout is beyond magical! We stayed in the Pele suite as a part of our honeymoon and it is a part of our trip that we will never forget! Shannan and Josh really have thought of everything and beyond that are two of the nicest people you could hope to meet. The property and dwelling space were beyond what we could have ever imagined. The breakfasts were fantastic- best smoothie I’ve ever had! The general ambiance of this place is something I will hold onto in my memory forever and there will be many cold days in Ohio that I will close my eyes and go back to the North Shore Lookout! Thank you a million times over for the best experience imaginable Shannan and Josh! You guys are wonderful and are running an amazing bed and breakfast. Top notch!

Dreaming of the perfect jungle honeymoon hideaway or retreat? Set amidst a mature coconut grove, this private cottage puts you in a romantic world of your own. Fresh tropical flowers ... light the candles ... your own huge hot tub ... ocean cliffs!
Situated on Maui's spectacular north shore, this fairy-tale hideaway is the ideal honeymoon retreat ... We greet you with gorgeous tropical fruit & flower arrangements, some welcome goodies in the fridge, candles, chocolates and, of course, your own private hot tub set at exactly the right temperature! We love romantics! AND we are organic/ green/ sustainably run - you'll even get to say 'aloha' to our chickens, which give spectacularly yellow eggs! (On that note, please also know that we are a SMOKE FREE property). This is the 'real' Maui ... it feels far away from tourist crowds, yet is only a 15 minute trip to the nearest great restaurant or grocery store. So lovely to come "home" at the end of a day ... and sometimes, you'll probably just to stay "home" right here, and relax! Perhaps you'll "eat in", or watch the full moon rise from the coconut grove ... as you soak in your own private hot tub ... Our location is ideal for exploring the whole island - but you don't have to stay in a crowded tourist area to do it ... 20 mins to Paia or Makawao, 1 3/4 hours to Hana, 70 mins to Lahaina, 45 mins to Kihei, 1 1/2 hrs up to the top of Haleakala etc. Maui is small enough so that you can stay in one place and have the whole island at your fingertips! You'll have access to our beautiful 44 ft free-form 'jungle' swimming pool (shared with an occasional other guest - you rarely see anyone around) ... you'll have your own private hot tub, lanais, barbecue ... self-catering for your meals ... gather organic fruit ... but, most of all, you'll have access to serenity, privacy and relaxation ... This is the perfect place to bring your sweetie for a spontaneous romantic getaway! Our guests love their privacy - and so do we. But we're always available 24/7 by cell phone for questions/ emergencies (hopefully none!) etc and are more than happy to recommend sights, restaurants etc. Huelo is where 'real' people live ... it's a 'real' neighborhood nestled out here in what was once jungle. This is the nature side of the island, with a cool trade wind most of the year - not an air conditioner in sight, and yes, you'll see a few geckos which look like small lizards. They're 'mo'o' and considered good luck - completely harmless. People drive slowly along our small country road and for those who would like a little exercise, a sunset walk up our road to the Hana Highway is truly exquisite. No public transit - you'll definitely need a car! We've been in business since 1992 and are a fully licensed B&B. WE LOVE ROMANTICS! Note: we don't have TV reception! But we have DVD players for you to snuggle up with a movie (and your sweetie). We're very different from a hotel! FREE wifi and guest laundry and parking ... no extra hidden costs. Note: our internet service isn't suitable for streaming, but more than adequate for e mails. Cell service can be spotty, but we provide a landline for your exclusive use in your cottage and all on-island phone calls are free. Also note: we don't do daily maid service, though it can be arranged at extra cost. We also ask that you SHOWER OFF before using your hot tub - so, no sunscreen, body oils, soaps etc. Same thing after the beach - sand isn't fun in the bottom of your hot tub. If we have to do a full draining of the tub, clean and filter replacement it will incur a cost to you from your security deposit of $100.
We're on "Door of Faith" Road, in Huelo - part of lower Haiku - but "Huelo" has a distinctive character of its own. Here's where you come to see the 'real' Maui ... waterfalls, bamboo forests, jungle vegetation, exotic flowers ... yet we're only 20 mins away from grocery stores, beaches and great restaurants.
  • We came to Maui to celebrate a 40th birthday and stayed in the Star Lookout. We fell in love with this cottage! There were flowers in every room, chilled wine and fresh fruit when we arrived. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The perfect place to reconnect and unwind after long days of site seeing. Sharyn was a wonderful host. She gave us our space but we knew she was available to answer our questions, if needed. We appreciated Sharyn taking a few minutes to stop by and chat with us, before our departure. We would love to stay here again!

  • We had an amazing time at Star Cottage; it is a beautiful little place to stay. You enter the residence into the sun-room, which is one of the most relaxing sitting rooms in the area, a lovely dining room for two, and a full-size fridge to store your food. Upstairs was the bedroom with enough space to relax. The spa on the back patio deck was a perfect place to relax and enjoyed the decompression time there. The beautiful backyard was a great place just to enjoy the ocean view. Sharon and Jeff were amazing hosts. Sharon checked on us daily by text, just showing how much they care about making our stay enjoyable. We only needed some help the first day, and they worked together to handle our very small selfish needs. =) Truly an amazing place to stay on the southeast portion of the island. Thank you for being so good to us, we loved spending time at your quite cottage.

  • One of the best airbnb experiences we had. Although we already had high expectations, still the pictures/description don't do the reality justice. It's hard to describe but you are in a uniquely serene and mystic place removed from the touristic and noisy crowdedness of Maui, surrounded just by bamboo and palm trees, at night you can watch this magnificent sky of stars, and you fall asleep listening to the roaring sound of wind in the leaves. Sure, it takes a bit of a drive to get there but it's so worth it, in fact that makes it special, but if you do like accessibility then this is not the right place for you. I do highly recommend to follow Sharyn's advice to print out or take screenshots of the more detailed instructions she provides, since signal is poor out there but with those instructions it's impossible to miss when you first arrive, and after that it's straightforward. The garden is huge, and despite there being several cottages on the property you feel absolute privacy. Also the interior of the cottage is bigger than we were expecting, with lots of lovely touches waiting for you in each and every corner (we were particularly grateful for the fruit basket and some breakfast goodies Sharyn had prepared for us). I would come back in a heartbeat and then I'd stay for months, not days!

  • Sharyn is so sweet and accommodating. This place is beautiful and absolutely lovely place to stay at. Sharyn offers so many local tips and quickly responds to texts/inquiries. We had the bestest time!

  • Wonderful romantic place to stay on the road to Hana. Great hospitality. Will visit again.

  • We received a warm welcome, great directions and communications. After a very long trip, it was so nice to find local fruit, bread, coffee, eggs, and wine waiting for us, as well as beach chairs and beach towels. The privacy and quiet is great, and the place is bigger than it looks in the pictures and very nicely decorated. We did have some rain there -- mostly at night -- but driving just about one-half hour took us to sunny beaches, whales and turtles. We prefer to stay outside of the more congested areas of the island. Thanks, Sharyn!

    Harriet2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet and relaxing space that perfectly suited our needs. We stayed at the Star Cottage for the first half of our Maui trip to take in the best of Maui's nature before going to the other side of the island with the resorts and beaches. The location was great for our Road to Hana day along with going to the top of Haleakala crater. Sharyn's extra touches made it all the more special.

    Michael2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sharyn’s place is incredibly! We enjoyed waking up every morning to the sunrise and the wonderful animals in the area. Flash, the house cat came by to say hi one morning and bask in the sun! He is a cutey for sure! The cabin is close to the road to hana and is super clean! Sharyn, was so warm and hospitable! I loved that she stopped by to check in. The fresh bread in the fridge and the fruit was phenomenal! 100% will stay here again!

  • Great place, plenty of shared washrooms to use, and hosts are very nice and available to chat and give recommendations! We also enjoyed meeting other guests from all over the world. Also super close to everything in Hana.

    Kristie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a room in Hana's inn for our overnight stay in Hana. It was perfect. The room was sufficient for the two of us. There were two shared restrooms amongst 3 rooms and we never had to wait for a bathroom. The bathrooms were very clean and had all necessary amenities. They had a nice kitchen, however we used it to only heat some frozen dinner. The hosts were very friendly and they had a lot of tips for the guests. It is very close to places to eat (food trucks, restaurants, grocery store). Also very close to the black sand beach, which we visited for sunrise and had the whole beach to ourselves. We had a wonderful sleep with the of the waves , the wind and the rain in the background. A gem and we would recommend it to anyone doing the road to Hana

  • This B&B was everything and more! What a wonderful place for quieting ones heart, connecting with one another and nature. I loved my mornings sitting in the gardens and my husband enjoyed hiking in the nature preserve. So easy to get to all the activities and yet you feel like you are in a beautiful hideaway. Loved the morning breakfasts on the deck looking over the gardens and out to the ocean. Great place! We highly recommend the North Shores Lookout for your Maui vacation.

  • Shannan and Josh are incredible hosts and the Paniolo Suite is a gorgeous place to stay. We stayed here for our honeymoon and have already recommended it to all of our friends and family. Breakfast each morning is delicious and Shannan and Josh give great recommendations on where to go while staying in Maui.

  • North Shore Lookout is beautiful! The views and central location were perfect so we could get around the entire island, which we definitely did. The rooms were amazing - clean and spacious. The amenities were great, and the pool/hot tub were fabulous. Breakfast (and coffee and smoothies) were delicious. Josh and Shannan gave great advice on where to go, what to see, and how to get there (and who to use, if that applied as well.) We had an amazing vacation, and hope to come back again soon.

  • If you’re looking for magic this is the place. The pics are incredible but it’s even more magical when you lay your own eyes on this property. We were in awe. Then we walked into our room. We stayed in the paniolo suite. We were in awe again of how big it was. Sitting area in the Dining area with a kitchenette, large bathroom , very large bedroom with sitting area. The bed was really cozy too:). They had chairs for the beach a little cooler and snorkel gear to use. Our welcome bag had beach towels and chocolates. Sweet touch. Glass where for indoor drinks. I love the idea of removing shoes before entering the indoors. The place was so clean! Now let’s get to the breakfast. We walked up every morn around 7:30 for a feast. Breakfast is 7:30- 9:30. We had no idea it was going to be so well thought of and prepared for us. All the island fruits and more. Salmon and other meats on different days. Bagels, croissants, muffins. All kinds of jams and spreads. Oatmeal, cereal with a variety of milks. Coffee, teas, juices. One morning Josh even whipped us up a wellness shot. One morn I saw him whip up a smoothie for a guest. They peeped their heads out every morn to make sure we were all ok and if we had questions about the island . We didn’t get a chance to go in the pool or jacuzzi or sit out by the fire but we will next time for sure. We can’t wait to stay here again. The price is great as well. We had a most memorable time staying with them. I highly highly recommend this place. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed. Aloha:)

Your journey ends as you reach the town of Hana. Here is unspoiled Hawaii, where you can relax and enjoy the true spirit of Aloha. The Hana coast offers some of Hawaii's most beautiful beaches. There is a king size bed in the bedroom and twin day beds in the living room, separated by a partition wall for privacy at night. Tropical decor, granite countertops and hard wood floors throughout.
Hana is known as the last Hawaiian place. Our community is still predominantly Hawaiian. Hana has a rich history and the Hawaiian population in this area once numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Today Hana's population is under 2000, from Keanae to Kaupo, a 40 mile coastal radius. Hana Kai is centrally located and easily accessible. The property is nestled along the North side of Hana Bay at the entrance to Waikoloa Beach. Although we do not recommend swimming (except on very calm days), Waikoloa Beach is wonderful to explore and you can actually walk for several miles on the coastal trail to Waianapanapa State park. Hana Bay is a precious resource to the community and you may see fisherman netting Akule, keiki swimming in the gentle shore break at Hana Bay, dolphins and sometimes whales, turtles along the rocks or canoe paddlers practicing for an upcoming regatta.
  • Nice place and proximity with the sea is amazing

  • Clean and spacious place by the beach. It’s well maintained and despite the lack of AC, we had a comfortable stay. Would go back next time we stay in Hana.

  • This place took my breath away. I can't imagine that I will ever stay somewhere so special. Our family spent every meal on the lanai and I loved reading my book out there. There were a couple of rain showers that came through and it was such a cozy place to be. The ocean felt like it was all around us. We were there on a full moon night and watched the moon rise over the ocean. It was a little hard for my husband with the humidity not to have air conditioning, but we placed a couple fans in front of windows and that did the trick. Our six year old son loved walking out of the gate on the lanai to go down to the coy pond and play around in the grass. It felt safe, peaceful, and romantic. The beach feels a little wild and we loved walking along the rocks and finding little ocean treasures. The pictures were limited and I had a different idea based on them of what the place would look like and was surprised that it was even nicer than I expected. It was such a beautiful and special place with so many beautiful lamps and soft lighting and furniture. I will always remember this place!

    Alicia2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location, I don't think there could be a better spot for a break in Hana. The view out of the window to the beach is incredible, so opening the curtains means every day gets off to a great start! I think a lot of people drive to and from Hana in one day, but it's definitely worth spending a bit of time here to explore the area, it's a beautiful place and I'd definitely recommend this apartment as the perfect base for it. It's a very nice spacious suite for a couple, with a good kitchen, which is useful as there aren't many evening options for eating out in Hana (but the food trucks and Thai place are great during the day). The suite has a great deck and there is a lovely garden out front as well, there are a couple of nice beaches within walking distance and then a few more a short drive away.

    Ben2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location in Hana. You are right at the beach with sunrises right out your window and lanai. Close to great hiking. The room itself was clean with well equipped kitchen. We hope to return next year

    Tracy2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We stayed in the oceanfront 1 bedroom and it was exceptional. We fell asleep each night to the sound of the waves crashing and awoke each morning to the sunrise view from our window. The kitchen offered everything we needed to prepare meals. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was outstanding. The balcony was relaxing and had a stunning view of the ocean. This place is not to be missed if you’re staying in Hana!

There are many mom and pop places to eat, including a bright orange burrito food truck right in town with great burritos, coffee and pastries that is owned/operated by Andy and Tuna, a brick oven pizza place, Thai food stop, other 'plate lunch' stops, and fresh organic fruit and veggie stands where much of the food is grown organically right here in Hana. There are two main general stores in town to get most of your basic necessities. If you want a large variety of food to choose from though it may be wise to get some provisions from the main part of the island before you head out to Hana. Our favorite food store on the island is Mana Foods, in the town of Pa'ia on the North Shore, where they're loaded with fresh, natural and organic grocery shopping, a deli, bakery and vitamin room. Although, we also frequent Hasegawa's General Store and the Hana Ranch Store in town during our stays. The road out to Hana itself is half the treat, with dramatic scenery of the cliff-lined coastline, a couple of fruit stands (including a mobile creperie along the road in the jungle as you begin your journey!), and lots of hikes from trail heads off the road. As with any adventuring please be cautious and aware of your surroundings and weather conditions while enjoying the outdoors. A tip for the drive out to Hana, pack a lunch with snacks and drinks, don't rush it, and pull over for faster drivers if they come up behind you. There are many pull-out spots, the drivers behind you will appreciate it, and you can relax and really soak in the beauty. There is one gas station in Hana town, and none along the 2-hour drive from the main towns on the other side of the island, so fill up before you get here. Hana is a tropical paradise, which means it has little critters like mosquitoes or ants at times, and don't be surprised by the odd chicken or two, mongoose, (cows, there's a beautiful working cattle ranch) or other wildlife in an around Hana town and the East side of the island. Our home is usually nice and breezy, and we have quarterly treatments of the outside and inside of the home with natural repellents, so there should be little activity of small critters, however, closing screen doors and cleaning up food after eating is always a good idea. We have some mosquito repellent there if you need it, just in case. And if you have any problems please let us know. Our location is very convenient to the beaches, sites and stops in Hana, with great views, and as can be seen from the photos and mapping, we are in a residential setting. There can be some typical neighborhood activity including traffic on Hana highway, neighboring pets / dogs occasionally barking or local chickens that roam freely. We have a large redwood fence along the rural road and plantings around the property to make you feel tucked away. Feel free to get in touch with me to answer any questions you may have. The 1br/1ba rental rate is $209 US/night (which includes the state taxes of 14.27%), and a one-time cleaning fee of $45. You can reserve yourself online if you like. Maximum number of guests is 2. We hope you enjoy your stay!!! The property is owned and co-managed by Brook Y. Starr, a Hawaii licensed realtor. Maui County Vacation Rental Permit: STHA 2015/0005 State Taxes ID: GE-004-392-3456-01 & TA-004-392-3456-01 (General Excise Tax and Transient Accommodations Tax)
  • This cottage is clean, has all the amenities you could need, and is in a great location. The instructions for checking in and checking out were clear and easy to follow. If we are ever in Hana again, we would definitely stay here again!

  • Brook’s place was amazing for our two night stay in Hana! Perfect for two people, and plenty of space! Great location. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in a quaint spot in Hana.

  • This is the perfect location and place to stay in Hana. We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it! We had a few problems with the keypad but there was a backup key so it was no problem! Highly recommend this cute place!

  • The Road to Hana is best done over multiple days and a great place to stay while in Hana is Brook's place. The cottage is roomy, updated and had everything we needed (although a few more channels on the TV would have been a plus). With a fence and large vegetation around the front deck, the privacy was fantastic. And the washer and dryer were nice after hiking in the mud much of the day. Staying in Hana was a great experience and a stark contrast from Waikiki (love the quiet). Would definitely stay again!

  • Quiet, clean, would stay again. Highly recommended.

  • What a gem of a find! Darling little ohana right in town. We felt like locals for the 5 days we stayed. The property was very private even though it sits close to the main house. Nice privacy hedge keeps porch area from other’s view. We had everything we needed to make our stay perfect and would stay again in a heartbeat. The air conditioner in the bedroom was the icing on the cake.

    Patricia2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great location overlooking the ocean. Well equipped kitchen and smart TVs in living area and bedroom. (We were able to sign into Netflix for our favorite shows) first day we walked to the Cultural Museum and walked the beach at Hāna Bay. Nice place to return too after a 4 mile hike at the 7 Sacred Pools.

We are a permitted B and B on Maui’s North shore near the road to Hana but not close enough that you can hear traffic. The property is on three acres in an agricultural zone where we grow bananas and citrus. Room 3 has its own private lanai, an en-suite bathroom with built in slate shower, ac, satellite tv and a queen size bed. Permit number SUP 2015/0002, BBPH 2015/0009. Transient registration TA-128-712-2944-02
The property is on a flag lot with beautiful ocean views. All the properties in our area are on at least 2 acres. Built to take advantage of the Tradewinds the large lanai is a cool and quiet place to have coffee in the morning or to just hang out. We provide a self serve breakfast of bagels, eggs, yogurt, waffles, oatmeal, bananas, coffee and tea. The bathroom, in room 3, is an en-suite bathroom. It doesn’t have a door but has a wall separating it from the room with an opening at the end.
Our place is one mile from the ocean. There are rocky cliffs with nice views. It’s a nice , but steep, walk to the bottom of the road to take in the view.
  • We enjoyed our stay very much, more than met our expectations , very clean and spacious, great views to the ocean and tropical plants . Location is convenient to visit many points on Maui, but also a very quiet setting to relax. This is great place to stay!

  • Room 3 was a beautifully designed, modern suite with a double shower and partial ocean view. The shared kitchen and living space was very nice and spacious.

  • Your house is beautiful Howard, lovely and smartly defined! Nicely appointed with great views and squeaky clean. Perfect way to ease the journey to Hana!

    Christopher2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Howard’s place is wonderful! The room is amazing with an awesome view of the ocean. The kitchen is well-stocked and we enjoyed the fact that we had the opportunity to meet others staying in the other rooms. It was easy to find and a perfect last night in Maui before we headed to the airport. I would absolutely stay here again, and preferably for more than one night!!

    Lauren2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • From the forest hut on Hana Road, you can see the sea. Our three-story room has a separate bathroom, cloakroom and balcony, and it's a big place. The check-in was smooth and the host prepared breakfast attentively, except for the small flying insects (but not the mosquitoes), which were all good. We also met a very friendly old Japanese couple who came to Maui for a vacation and taught us how to use the oven and coffee machine. Although we only stayed for one night, we were very satisfied.

  • Markus & Irish have a great studio on the road as you enter Hana. It’s about another 5 minute drive to the lunch and dinner options in the area. It was sparkling clean and amongst lush tropical forest. Some travellers might like to know that there are no curtains over the main windows. This didn’t bother us at all, as privacy isn’t an issue (no one could see inside) and it was so nice to wake up to the sun & birds. This was a lovely spot to stay & we’d recommend it to others.

    Kristy-Lee2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in town. The place was clean and had good amenities.

    Jamie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible view and such a nice sanctuary. WiFi was spotty at first but it may have been my phone. And the shower was incredible 😍 absolutely loved my stay.

    Gabriella2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a lot nicer than I had expected! The room we stayed in was sparkling clean and appeared to be very recently re modeled. It was very cool to walk around the small property and see the different fruits growing on the trees. If you are looking for a spot to stay after a long day of driving to and hiking around Hana, I would recommend this place!

    Brad2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely experience staying in this cozy spot! Located conveniently right off The Road to Hana and Hana town, it was the perfect spot to be on foot and use the vehicle to get in and out of town. This location had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant! I was most pleased with how simple and minimalist it was. We also appreciated how clean it was. After a long day of hitting the beaches and hiking, I enjoyed the beautiful shower that had plenty of shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes it's the little things that make it so fantastic! Our favorite part about our stay was having no TV in the room. After catching up on reading and planning for our next day, it was nice to fall asleep to the rainfall which happened on the daily - we felt lucky to have that as background noise vs loud neighbors, street noise, etc. If you're looking for a getaway spot to literally GET AWAY, this is the home for you.

    Stephen2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The deck is a perfect place to catch the Maui sunrise. A great stop on our road trip. Perfect for a quick stay in Hana.

    Bob2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Markus & Irish's place for 2 nights while we were doing the various hikes and trails on the Road to Hana. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and the overall check in process was extremely easy. This condo is a perfect oasis if you plan on staying in Hana for a few nights. However, it is smaller than you expect based on the photos and has very few amenities (aside from the essentials - microwave / fridge). Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • Great location at HANA!

    Alexandre2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • #2 had a FABULOUS view of the ocean. Like living inside a perfectly framed ocean postcard. Inside was adorable. Tight closet space. No TV. But a paradise location.

    Scott2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in #2, studio style with oceanfront balcony , and it was absolutely stunning. We slept with the windows open to enjoy the sound of the ocean all night. You cannot beat the views from this balcony, and made morning coffee before leaving for the day so special. Perfect location for lots of activities, close proximity to everything in Hana. We spent two nights here so we could take our time on Road to Hana, and spent entire next day in Haleakala Natl Park. For dinners we enjoyed our room SO much that we would get to-go from food trucks and bring back to our balcony to enjoy dinner outside. You can walk down to the black sand beach as well, we saw boogie boarders/surfers/people walking dogs there. If we stayed longer we would have used the kitchen to cook more- very nice amenities. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend to everyone! Stocking up on some snacks/supplies before the drive to Hana really came in handy, though there are plenty of food trucks and snack stands along the way

Children 2 and under free. Waiʻanapanapa State Park is located off of the scenic Hana Highway, about 3 miles from Hana town. The park features a spectacular black volcanic sand beach. The spacious and well-maintained campground features picnic table, restrooms, and showers. It's close to seabird colonies, lava tubes, blowholes, freshwater caves, and a natural stone arch.
  • Dale's camping equipment served us well, and we got some beautiful views out of our night. We do recommend checking the weather forecast before you decide to camp at this state park, since setting up the tent in the rain was a challenge, and we had to mop out some water that got in before we could put the rain cover on, since the big tent has a mesh top cover otherwise. Once we got set up, we were impressed and pleasantly surprised with how well the tent kept the rain out, even with some big downpours. When the clouds cleared, the ocean under the night sky and the sunrise over the black sand beach were both once in a lifetime sights that made all the effort worth it!

The kitchen has everything you need if you like cooking. Honestly we were tempted to just stay in the bungalow and never leave. Nearby beaches were perfect as well but the waves are strong!

  • If you're headed to Maui and you want to stay in one of the most romantic and secluded places you MUST stay at here at Robin's bungalow!! My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and there couldn't have been a more perfect place for us to stay! It is absolutely MAGICAL!!! Words cannot even begin to describe this gem and the pictures don't do it justice honestly --its WAY better! We love the outdoors and sleeping in a grownup tree house surrounded by all the beautiful foliage was a dream! Plus being around the corner from one of the coolest beaches was amazing! Plus Robin, the owner, was super nice and helpful! HIGHLY recommend!

Great location in Hana, right next to a quiet part of Hana Bay. The view is stunning, and we loved watching the sun come up on the balcony with our coffee. Nighttime stargazing is highly recommended. The place was clean and stocked with kitchen amenities in case you want to cook (we made breakfast in the condo both days). We would definitely return.

  • Our stay was great! Staying here let us fully enjoy the road to Hana without worrying about getting back the same day. Staying the night here was fantastic - it is a cute unit in a quiet building so you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.

  • The condo has a wonderful location: it's next to a beautiful black sand bay and is about 45 minutes from the Kipahulu district of Haleakala National Park. It was perfect for breaking the road to Hana into a 2 day trip! Watching the sunrise over the bay from our lanai was breath-taking! The condo was large and sparkling clean, and the grounds were also immaculate. Highly recommend!
