  • Amazing views towards Mangonui! We enjoyed our 2 night stay here - it was a great place to base ourselves for exploring the area. Very quiet and peaceful. The olive grove was a beautiful setting. Judy was super friendly and great at communicating.

    Emma2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Judys place for 5 days whilst we explored the northland. The location was perfect for us to get to the west and east coast and also to cape reinga. The studio is situated in a beautiful, peaceful olive grove and the bbq made it easy for us to come back and relax after a day of exploring. It had everything we needed and was a comfortable stay. Judy answered all questions we had and was friendly and helpful.

A double bed in a loft room, separate from the house where the bathroom is located. Situated beside a pristine river with original native forest, birds and good swimming. Breakfast is organic cooked muesli and fruit. Nice place to relax, the dogs like tummy rubs. Many lovely beaches are in the area, the closest being Taipa which is 25 minutes drive. The local shop offers organic ice cream, coffee and groceries.
This is a dog friendly place, you could bring yours upon request. Dogs must not chase chickens. The loft room is accessed by a relatively short ladder, therefore a certain amount of mobility is necessary. The bathroom is located in the house. There is a bath, not shower. Outside compost toilet.
You can also do a bush walk to the lookout which takes 1.5 hours. The river has good swimming in the warmer months and places for picnics. The local dairy has a food caravan at weekend evenings, selling healthy food.
  • Fenella's place gave us a taste of how we would love to live! It's a self sufficient lifestyle in a beautiful environment. As guests, we enjoyed the privacy of the garage loft room separate from the main house . The ladder is fine as long as you have a reasonable level of mobility. We swum in the bush surrounded swimming hole. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. The dogs and chickens are friendly and adorable. Fenella gave us generous access to her amazing vegetable garden and fruit trees.

  • A really nice place to stay, it’s like a small amazing world. And I love the cute dogs there as well as the tasty drinks.

  • Perfect place to escape. Lovely host with three cute little dogs walking around. There’s a lot to see in her garden, with a river in the backyard! Airbnb is really good and private.

  • This place is amazing for the right person. If you want to retreat, enjoy peaceful quiet time in the bush and still only be 30 minutes from some world class beaches then this is your place. It has a special energy and Fenella is a great host. The only advice i would give is that you have to be comfortable with Dogs, otherwise i had a great stay.

Your split-level bedroom is light, airy and sunny with a lounging area up a few steps to enjoy your leisure time in. You will be surrounded by views of orchard, bush and river and have a country experience while being only 15 minutes from Kaitaia. Your hosts Des and Chris are happy to socialise but will also be sensitive to your need for privacy as required.
Our home is set in beautiful rural surroundings, ringed by native bush and near a rocky -bottomed river with deep pools. A large orchard provides organic fruit in season and you will wake to birdsong each morning.
The nearest town, Kaitaia, is just 15 minutes drive away on Highway 1. From Riverstay the whole of the Far North is readily accessible. To the south, the historic townships of Kohukohu and Rawene, beautiful Opononi on the Hokianga Harbour, and giant kauri trees in the Waipoua Forest Park. To the north, famous surf breaks at Ahipara, breathtaking 90 mile beach and the spiritual Cape Reinga, northernmost point of Aotearoa New Zealand. To the east, pohutukawa fringed bays offer safe swimming and shady picnic spots. Fishing is a popular activity on both coasts.
  • Just a lovely place to stay. The room itself is fantastic and the location is beautiful. Would be an ideal place for a couple of days to just chill and get away from things. Alternatively a great location for overnight before a day trip to Cape Rienga.

  • Place is charming and full of character. I have the best night sleep there. Room is lovely and host is so welcoming. It is no WiFi or data there, but that was the best part. Property is so big that you can spend an evening just walking around and enjoy the nature. Host was lovely, you doesn't feel like you are living in somebody's house.

Situated 11 kms inland driving along river from Taipa, Doubtless Bay where there are beautiful beaches both east coast and west and Karikari peninsula. At the coast there are restaurants and Ramada Resort on Taipa beach. Locally the Bush Fairy Dairy and Far Out Takeaways and Tushita Ashram.
There is now a separate little bathroom off the patio that has hot shower and a compost toilet that makes the bungalow totally self sufficient. There are veggie gardens and fruit trees adjacent, chickens and birds around and a quaint little garden next to paddocks and hills all around. The bangalow is spacious and private having 3 rooms - a kitchen, a dining room and a large bedroom/lounge and a patio and bathroom. Washing machine is at main house. It is possible to arrive independently as there is a key to find. The space is very warm and cosy especially in the winter. Kitchen has a mini stove, gas cooker and a fridge.

A fully furnished, self contained cabin perched on a peninsula on 10 acres overlooking Doubtless Bay with its own rocky beach - great fishing spot. Just a couple of minutes from the Hihi main beach and 10 minutes to Shops and Restaurants in Mangonui. The cabin sits approx 200 meters above the rocky shore. (with easy beach access).and next to my cottage but is completely private with its own entrance, deck and surrounding gardens. A quiet spot to call home while visiting the far north.
This Cabin is light and airy. Fully furnished with TV, DVD. The Cabin by the Sea is featured in a series of fictional books .. "The Audrey Murders"
This 10 acres is completely private. The cabin is located approx 200 meters above the beach with a private access road to the rocky beach. No neighbours in sight. The nearest neighbours have over 100 acres of land.
  • Absolutely beautiful place. The Cabin was cute and big enough for the two of us. The location was gorgeous. In love with the view and the surroundings oh and the 2 lambs that were around us. The cabin had everything that one would need and more. We got a bottle of wine upon arrival which was very nice. Little touches mean a lot. Lots of towels and all the facilities were perfect. Leonie was friendly and available if we needed her also gave us privacy that we needed. She is a lovely person. My partner and I loved our stay at the cabin and will definitely be back again. Thank you Leonie.

  • Leonie's Cabin by the Sea is situated in a little part of paradise. On a small headland with natural bush surrounding and the very best wide open view of Doughtles Bay, there is nothing more you could wish for. The cabin is simple and lovely. Very comfortable in every way. A nice assortment of food to add to what we already had, made things very easy to stay put. Her added touches and generosity were very much appreciated . The ground coffee was exceptional. So much so, we sourced the place in Koeo where we could buy the local roasted beans. Thank you Leonie for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful property. If we come back to Northland, we will back. Geoff and Julianne

    Geoff2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin by the sea is amazing, quiet, secluded and with an incredible view out to the water. Leonie has thought of everything her guests could possibly need. There was plenty of extra linen and towels, the fridge was full of supplies - and out on the verandah there were fishing rods, bait and buckets for our use as well! It was such a joy to wander around the property, taking in the peace and tranquility. Thank you Leonie for our wonderful stay.

    Devika2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A cabin very well furnished in a ... breathtaking setting! Leonie, is a host, who by many touches of attention, shows us that we are expected and welcome. The description of the cabin and its surroundings are true to reality. An enchantment! We warmly recommend this accommodation.

    Viviane2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Leonie's place is an idyllic retreat from the stress of modern life. We spent a week at 'The Cabin', and could easily have stayed another week. It's set on 10 acres of private hill, surrounded by mature trees, and just above the waters of stunning Doubtless Bay. There is only the one guest cabin on the property. You can easily spend all day lying on the recliners under the shady trees, reading, sleeping, and contemplating the view. A couple of times that's all we did for the day. Fish frequently break the surface of the water, and the seabirds are frequent visitors. There are also families of very cute Californian quail foraging all around the property. The cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed: a pantry with breakfast supplies; the fridge was stocked with wine, beer, bread, butter, milk and a dozen eggs, along with a bunch of spreads; and a bowl of fruit, just to get us started. It had an excellent-quality, very comfy queen-sized bed, with a pillow-top, and also a comfy single bed. Both would best be descibed as 'soft-to-medium'. The bathroom was compact but adequate, with ample towels etc. There was absolutely no noise at night, apart from the occasional native bird calling in the forest. Leonie is an engaging host, full of energy and fascinating stories, a person who lives life to the fullest. She lives in a quaint cottage adjacent to (but separated from) the cabin, and we never felt our privacy was being compromised. Leonie was often away from the property on business, meaning we had the place to ourselves, but we also loved the occasional chat with her over a glass of wine. It was a 12-minute scenic drive into Mangonui, a charming seaside village that boasts 2 excellent Thai and Indian restaurants - we could have eaten there every night! - along with the hugely popular fish-and-chippery perched out over the water. There are also a couple of other cafes in the vilage, plus a small supermarket, so your dining needs are amply catered for. There's also a much bigger supermarket a few kilometres further north at Coopers Beach. Hihi was a good base for exploring the area. Highly recommended is the run up to Matai Bay, and of course the drive (or bus tour) up to Cape Reinga, which was far more spectacular than we expected. A half-hour drive gets you to Whangaroa harbour where we took the excellent 90-minute cruise around the harbour with the water-taxi company. It was a stunning trip. If you're after a quiet spot to unwind, or explore the region from, then you simply can't go past Leonie's cabin. We'll be back again.

  • So happy we stayed at The Cabin! We enjoyed the views and it was a great home base for exploring the Northland. Might be the softest, comfiest bed we’ve slept in. We even heard a male kiwi one night. Leonie is a gracious host and a super human. Thank you, Leonie, for your kind hospitality and we hope to see you again!

  • "The Press" is an immaculately clean and comfortable space set in a lovely part of Northland. There is a deck on which to drink a glass of wine or eat breakfast whilst enjoying the views of the olive groves and listening to the bidsong. Anne-Marie and Keith are wonderful hosts. Very warm and welcoming. Anne-Marie provides some lovely little extras including homemade cheese and preserves and a sample of their own homegrown olive oil to try. Highly recommended for a couple looking for a little peace and tranquility and there is the added bonus of a visit to the olive press to learn how the olive oil is produced.

  • A little wonderland is Ian's place. The room felt like an entire house; It was clean, warm and entertaining in itself. Ian is an exceptional communicator. Quick responder to emails, text and shouts in the void when you feel lost:P:P Too bad we've only were able to spend a short amount of time there as we were busy climbing the Pekerau Hills. Definitely worth a revisit.

    Izolda2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ian Francis gave us precise directions to his accommodation, which could not be missed. The house is individually decorated and very large. The private area with its own bathroom and kitchen is also huge. The kitchen is very well equipped. The WiFi is great. Ian explained everything to us in detail and even gave us some of his eggs and fruit. We felt very comfortable.

    Rebecca2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ian was very helpful & such a great host and accommodating. Great communication & great relaxing spot, not too far from supermarket and good drive from the Cape. Would stay here again :-)

  • A great quirky place with an attentive host. The room is attached to the main house but I felt the sense of privacy. Ian was helpful with recommending various destinations, and the location has all sorts of interesting things (to a city dweller like me).

    Darren2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was huge and almost like a private apartment attached to the main house. We had our own entrance but could also hang out in the house freely. We had multiple beds and a kitchenette containing everything we needed for cooking. The shower is worth seeing - very large too. Ian was welcoming and indicated us beautiful beaches to visit 20 minutes away. It was also nice to have free eggs - from local chicken - for breakfast.

    Maxime2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and great price on conveniently close to the Karikari peninsula. Ian was very responsive and friendly to my partner and I. The house and yard have beautiful artistic touches that are one of a kind!

    Darren2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I (Mum, Dad with 3 kids) really enjoyed our stay in Ian's home. The accommodation though shared felt very private and spacious and is good value at this price point. Ian was welcoming with great local knowledge on best places to visit, but also left us to enjoy our privacy. The kids were particularly taken with the unique and artistic look of the house and enjoyed getting to feed the animals one morning. We all slept very well and would definitely like to stay again. Also grab some honey if you have the chance - delicious!

    Renee2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Didn't have a good chat with the owner because we arrived late and left early. But from what we've seen a really nice person that likes to crack a joke. Really welcoming and a great place for a small amount of money. Would definitely go there again!

  • The owner was very kind, the room was large, and it was good in a quiet place! But we recommend that you check in before sunset because the location is quite deep in the mountains and there is no signal. This house was very clean and quiet place.I had a great time.

  • Carol's place is situated in a beautiful farm where my family and I enjoyed some quality time together. Recommended if you're looking for a place that's great for its value and if youre planning to visit Cape Reinga one day and Paihia the next!

  • Place is really clean and tidy. The location is around 20 minutes from Kaitaia which is quite handy but also very private. Carol made us feel very welcomed at the place. I highly recommend this place.

  • After sleeping in hostels for some days, our group of five decided it was time for some relaxation at a more secluded space — and we couldn’t have gotten a better experience. Coming in from a drive on 90 Mile Beach, exhausted, Carol greeted us with a highly pleasant welcome. Comfy beds, a well-prepared large kitchen and a nice living-room made our stay for the night incredible. The watermelon she had put in the refrigerator was the cherry on the cake that made it a 5/5. The surrounding area is astonishingly beautiful, the house is located next to a farm with sheep roaming the whereabouts. It truly was a genuine Kiwi-experience, and for that we are truly grateful. The price per night is also highly affordable — even for 20 year old backpackers! They truly deserve the 5 star rating, because it was an absolutely delightful stay. // A very happy Swedish traveling group.

  • An old-fashioned farmhouse with some modern amenities not too far from the town. Cell service available on gravel road before coming into the farm. We heard moreporks, tuis and kiwis while staying here!

Popular rental 4+ years. Light, airy, private, tidy, homely and sunny. Sheltered sunny patio area, seating. Spacious furnished unit with all you need, well-stocked kitchen; cooking: BBQ, & a cooker inside. Comfy bed (elec. blanket). Big bathroom. Handy to awesome beach, village shops - provisions, coffee, food, liquor, butcher. Central location to explore The North. Mangonui historic village (dining) 4 mins. Quiet, sunny, warm, spacious, close to sea. Parking. Friendly host. Great reviews!
Staying at this apartment you are handy to everything - 3 minute walk to the most beautiful swimming and fishing beach, there are shops across the road to buy food, a chemist and beauty parlours. In the supermarket you can get ready-made meals, both fresh and frozen, cooked chickens, salads etc. Very handy indeed! A liquor store is almost next door and you are 4 mins drive to Mangonui - a quaint village with awesome history, amazing cafes (The Thai, Indian Spice, Waterfront, Little Kitchen and more) the local pub - great fish and chips here, or try the world famous Mangonui Fish and Chip place over the water. There is plenty of parking, its quiet and peaceful. I live upstairs but am quiet and often out, and have great views from my deck - you may wish to come up for a wine or chat and take in the sunshine and sea views, even the sunset! Drift off to sleep listening to waves on the beach below. Ideal place to stay to explore the area, lots of information at the apartment. Can advise you if need be.
Fabulous area to be staying in - so close to the beach, for walks and swims or fishing. The village is handy and has all you need at the Four Square supermarket or takeaways or amazing butcher who sells local produce. Its only 5 mins drive to Mangonui or Cable Bay in other direction and a great base for exploring the north areas, up to Cape Reinga (1.5 hour drive) and a fabulous winery on Karikari peninsula - too many sites to mention that are "must see". Recommend a 3 day stay as there is much to experience here, or longer if you have time. visit www.doubtlessbay.co.nz for more information. You will not be disappointed with your stay here in the Far North.

Glamping in the Far North. Simple and enchanting experience awaits you at Taipa Heights Sanctuary! Get away from it all and relax in rustic comfort.
Our lotus belle tent looks out to the valley and ocean and at night lights up with fairy lights.
The Far North has many treasures outside of the Bay of Islands, Doubtless Bay being one of them. There are many different beaches located close by as well as Karikari peninsula with a stunning winery as well as more pristine beaches. Cape Reinga is easily accerssible from Doubtless Bay as well.
  • Good experience for first time glamping

  • Jade & Jason are amazing hosts and the accommodation definitely exceeded our expectations. The photos don't do the place justice. The set up is very user friendly, the tent was very clean and spacious. The kitchen and bathroom were excellent. They gave us great advice on the best local places to visit. Could not have asked for anything more. We would definitely recommend Jade and Jason (& Patrick and mojito) if you're looking for a top notch glamping experience.

Come and stay at our newly renovated apartment overlooking the beautiful Mangonui Harbour, just a short walk to the local cafes, restaurants and shops and an even shorter walk to the ocean! In the same building there is another apartment available to book on Airbnb search "Point veiw number 2" or copy & paste the link below https://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/32789649?location=Mangonui%2C%20Northland&guests=1&adults=1&s=_I3EdeoL
We own a 3 apartment home that has locked dividers between each space - each apartment has a large private deck area
Neighbors are reasonably close but we haven’t had any issues or complaints of noise
  • Stunning apartment with views of the bay, very clean and comfortable. The deck area is lovely to sit and sip a wine whilst listening to the water ripple and the birds. The fish and chip shop was wonderful but unfortunately the Thai was closed on Mondays so we didn’t get to try it, however it’s meant to be great!

Peaceful country setting with farm views, our barn is a self contained perfect getaway from the bustle of life. Sit and enjoy the farm, cows, dogs, tuis and birdlife on our lifestyle block just 6 mins from Kaitaia township. 20mins to the famous 90mile beach or the beautiful east coast beaches, this is a great base for day trips. We are happy to help with advice on local places to visit. While our little dogs are super cute and friendly, they can bark at night if theres a possum in trees!
Possibly able to accomodate children, please ask first. Space available on lawn for a tent if needed for extra guests also mattress available to use on floor inside barn if required. Body boards/sand boards, beachtowels you can use.
Our property is surrounded by farms and bush. A very peaceful place with amazing views of the stars on a clear night.
  • This place had our heart since the time we entered the property. Tui Retreat is surrounded by nature . We had booked the place for two nights and we immediately decided to stay for another night . Debbie n Terry graciously agreed . Their dogs are too cute . We enjoyed their company. The kitchen is well stocked . There is personal touch every where . So one geeked welcomed . Terry will always be there to give so many advises about the places to visit . We even went for a walk with him and plucked fruits from their farm . Those are yummy . So if you enjoy solitude , nature , farm, dogs .... just go for it . Thanks Debbie n Terry for hosting us . Regards Usha & Devesh

  • Wow, just wow! We spent two nights and were blown away by this special place. It is every bit as beautiful as in the pictures but even better in real life. It was a pleasure to meet Erin and learn a little bit about the background of the house, and she also provided useful tips for the area. This is a truly unique place to stay, you can see the love and care of the owners in every detail. If you enjoy being in nature and a little „away from it all“ : book this! Probably the best AirBnB we ever stayed at and would 100% book again if we ever return to the area.

    Elisabeth2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • sorry erin but i havto hold onto 1 star as i brought a $40 t-bone steak each for my partner and i and someone must have left it on cause there was no LPG gas for BBQ so i wasnt able to cook my partner a lovely dinner naked on deck under the stars haha other than that, OMG!!! we loved it absolutely amazing space yet its like your on your own planet. about twice a year I surprise my partner with a getaway and ive been to alot of air bnb in my travels and fern ridge just takes the absolute cake for being the most romantic special location.... We were able to have complete privacy with the bathroom right next to the bedroom and that for us! We were greeted by Michelle. The region is very pretty with a lot of beaches and about 1h30 from Cape reinga.

The room was basic but had everything our family of three needed. The kitchen area was well stocked, bathroom was like new and the beds/linen were clean and comfy. Michelle and her husband were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. Lots to see and do in the area. Recommended

If you fancy a get away from the hustle and bustle our Hilltop Haven is for you, surrounded by Bush and ocean with only one neighbour it is definitely one of the most restful places to be. You may be lucky enough to see Whales if visiting in October too! We have had a pair in front for the last weeks in Sep. the house is tidy, comfortable and cute with amazing views! Your welcome to have a guest sleep on the sofa but you must bring your own bedding for this. TV is Netflix or by using Apple TV
Everything you need is included in this funky little bungalow, bring your own food and drinks and you are good to go!
Relax and listen to the birds and the waves, you can open the two 4metre ranch sliders in the lounge kitchen and feel like your in paradise. Even if it’s stormy outside there is something magical on this hill. Feeling active - walk 500m down the steep driveway then 500m either left or right takes you to two beautiful beaches the main one being Te Ngaere Bay. A stunning long sandy beach - safe for swimming and not swamped with tourists. The Mahinepua Coastal Walkway is a short drive away as well as many other beaches as your on a coastal scenic drive so you can have your own beach hop! The only shop nearby is Top Shop at Matauri Bay, they have amazing Fish and Chips a Bar and a Dairy Super close to Kauri Cliffs if you fancy a game of golf and Kerikeri, Carrington and Whangaroa Golf Clubs are a short drive away. Being based at Te Ngaere Bay means you are central to visit northwards Maunganui, Cable Bay, Kaitaia, Cape Reinga or South towards Kerikeri, Paihia or Whangarei. However long you stay you will wish it was longer! But the best thing is you can always come back!!
  • Dominique’s place has brilliant views and is location on a hill overlooking the sea on one side and the pine forest on the other. The place is very well equipped with everything that one would require on their holiday. Dominique was very sweet and ensured everything during our stay was comfortable. She went out of her way and video taped the route to the apartment as we were checking in midnight. Highly recommend this beautiful apartment with gorgeous views.

  • We were warmly welcomed and later farewelled by our lovely hosts. I took my elderly mother and my son and we all had the most wonderfully relaxing time together in this magical, beautiful, charmingly rustic space. Loved the character of the cottage and the peaceful harmony and privacy; plus the pool was an idyllic spot to pass the afternoons! Was so hard to leave!!

  • A gorgeous place to stay with so much colour and personality. Well located between Mangonui and Coopers Beach, with access to lovely walking tracks and beach. The WiFi was fast and reliable - perfect for someone like me working on the go. Highly recommended!

The Cozy Little Black Cottage- Solar Powered You must try this modern new self-contained cosy cottage, solar-powered with two sleeping areas. Sleepy rural view with great sunsets. It is situated on a full section, Tokerau Beach only 200 meters away via a handy walkway. Super quiet with lots of open space to enjoy a unique holiday. A great base for all the Far North of NZ. can offer with highlights - 90 Mile Beach, Cape Reinga, Famous Beaches, Fishing, Golf etc.
Welcome to 262 Tokerau Beach Road – The Cosy Little Black Cottage Please make yourself at home. This is our Cosy Little Black Cottage, off the power grid, fully Solar Powered with normal waste utility connections. Solar Power – Setup: Should you wish to run Large Power usage appliances like your Hair Dryer or use the Induction cook-top / Toaster etc. please use the extra fitted labelled Power Outlets (please look for the Labels on the extra power outlets on top of the counter, thanks) Should you want to use the small fan heater next to the fridge to warm-up the Cottage please only use it where it is, all you need to do is turn on the power on the supplied power outlet next to the fridge on the floor – same place you will need to turn on the fridge if you need to use it. All flush-mounted power outlets and lights throughout the cottage are 240-Volts with maximum output from the inverter at 1800-Watt so there is no problem running small wattage appliances. The big feature is that this is eco-friendly. How it works is that on the roof are 2 X 300Watt Solar panels that catch the suns energy and feed it through an inverter and stores the energy in 2 large deep cycle batteries in the Laundry. The inverter then feeds the stored power back into the cottage at 240-volts / 1800-Watt for normal use. For Safety - please treat all power points as live as you would in a normal house. Please call us if any problems: Michael 021637083 WATER: The Cottage is on tank water so please be careful with all water use as we have very long dry spells here. The toilet is dual flush. Hot water is by Gas with Cylinder under the south side of the cottage. If you run out of hot water, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange for a new Gas cylinder. (Should not happen as we monitor it) WIFI: There is a WIFI connection available with limited data – please don’t do large downloads, will be fine for normal use. For your WIFI connection please look for: xxxxxxx > then please connect with Password: xxxxxxxxx > (please note case sensitive) TV, Freeview, USB-loaded movies: To watch TV you need to turn on both the TV and the Freeview box (Two remotes) Ensure TV is set on “HDMI-1” to watch all the normal Freeview channel available, this is selected by using the Freeview remote. Should you like to watch a movie or two we loaded a few movies for you on a USB that is connected to the TV – to view movies please select on TV-remote input from USB, look for movies, select the one you prefer then press play on the TV – remote, you will need to repeat this sequence to watch another movie. BBQ: The Gas Bottle is under the kitchen top. Please turn ON/OFF after use. If the BBQ self-lighter is not working a long gas lighter is supplied in the utensil box, should the gas run out or you see it is low please contact us. (Should not happen as we check it) Cleaning: All we ask is that you try and leave the Cottage as you find it, treat it with respect as if it is yours, thank you kindly. Smoking: We would appreciate “NO SMOKING” inside the Cottage, outside is fine – please contain the butts and place in the outside rubbish bin, thank you. Local Shops: (End of Tokerau Beach Road – See Map) – or just ask someone. Local Shop is open every day for Petrol, groceries, liquor. Also - across the road in the group of shops there is a Dive Shop, Takeaway and Bar. Please Note: Use the code xxxx to open the lock-box next to the sliding door. The keys are inside. Thank you, with kind regards. Michael & Andrea Ph: 021 637 083

  • This is a very well designed small home. The bedroom is very comfortable as is the bathroom. Tall windows allow you to see the beautiful starry sky at night. Well equipped and close to the many things to do in the area.

  • Loved our stay in the self contained little black cottage. The host Michael was warm and friendly and quick to respond to all messages. The cottage is a 5 min walk to the beach which you can also drive along to pick mussels off the rocks and collect tua tua's. The cottage was extremely clean and bedding very comfortable. Great wifi connection. Shower was great with good pressure. Everything we needed for a 5 night stay was available including washing facilities, cookware and use of the wonderful outside kitchen. Sitting on the deck in the morning was delightful. The room did get quite warm through the hot days we had (being Feb) so we left the sliding doors open to allow for cooling. Early risers will appreciate the light filled room, those preferring a sleep in... eye masks are a good investment. Everything about this place made for a perfect holiday and we appreciate the work that has gone into making this cottage self contained...a big thank you to our hosts for having us!! 5 star accommodation!!
