Places to stay in Porthcawl
A beautiful 16th century renovated barn in the centre of Nottage village, Porthcawl. Near 7 beaches (two blue flag), excellent surf, world class golf courses, long promenade and coastal paths (ideal for walkers and cyclists) and within 10 metres of the local village shop, cosy welsh pubs and restaurant. The interior is luxurious, warm and cosy.
The barn is such a warm inviting place to stay with natural stone tiles downstairs and warm rustic oak flooring upstairs. The bedrooms are set out perfectly with hotel quality bedding and quality pillows and mattresses. The lounge boasts a beautiful stone fireplace with log burner and huge cosy sofas to curl up on while flicking through the long list of Sky Q channels and films. The beautiful and large bespoke kitchen is an off white colour with granite worktops and a large maple wood topped grey farrow and ball painted island stands in the middle. The house has 2 lounges, an area with dining table that seats 10 and a large utility room with everything you will need for a comfortable and stress free stay. There is a large courtyard at the front of the property which can be used for barbecuing and dining in the summer months. There is plenty of space for children here, my son actually learned to ride his bike in the kitchen (but please don’t do the same!).
  • What a superb house, amazing space, room for everyone (there was 9 of us!) and everything was as advertised. Easy to communicate with Jo, checkin was a doddle, and the whole family really enjoyed their time there. We would defo return one day! :)

  • Jo’s place was absolutely beautiful, and the perfect location for our school friend get-away that had been in the works for years! There is so much space for sleeping, eating, relaxing, cooking, and it is beautifully decorated. There’s not much around (which was ideal for us!), but a lovely pub next door and a nice stroll to the water front. Jo was a fantastic host, really responsive to our questions, and made sure we had a great time - the welcome basket was a great touch!

    Fiona2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing Airbnb! Jo went the extra mile, even stayed in to get our food order after our trains were cancelled. The house is incredible and the location is brilliant. Brilliant place to stay!

    Rosa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice warm house and very well equipped. The rooms are spacious and we were able to evolve to 8 in the house while having all our privacy. It is located near the sea. A very beautiful place in the heart of the village. Jo was very friendly and welcoming.

    Anne Et Jp2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful few days stay at Jo’s place. We arrived on a very wet and windy Saturday but were greeted with the most beautiful big house. Our two children had a fantastic time exploring the whole house and choosing everyones bedrooms. We even had a basket of goodies including fresh bread and wine ready for us which was a great touch!! The weather for our stay wasn’t the best but we had a lovely time chilling out and visiting the local pubs, who were very welcoming. Great place, will definitely recommend you to our friends.

    Nick2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful house in an amazing location. Perfect for a group of friends or a family get together. The location was amazing, easy to find and amenities really close by. We made some lovely memories that will be treasured forever.

    Amy And Colin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Barn. The house is beautiful with everything we needed there! The pictures definitely don’t do it justice and Jo couldn’t have been more helpful! Looking forward to coming back.

  • Great large space, offers privacy for diverse groups. Large central kitchen is a wonderful focal point. Location is perfect with easy walk to Rest Bay, the waterfront walk, and the cozy pubs of Nottage.

  • Came for the weekend for Hen Party, and we all had an amazing time. Tracey was brilliant with communicating with the Hen Party organisers, and was really accommodating. She was able to sort out catering for us, which was lovely, this was a fairly last minute arrangement and Tracey did it even with having sustained an injury. I would recommend this property for groups, especially Hen Parties, and if you don’t mind a 45 minute journey into Cardiff, it’s perfect! Lovely indoor area and a great outdoor area too, it was a shame we couldn’t use it as much as we wanted to be as of the weather. Thank you, Tracey.

    Laura2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very good place for large groups to stay 👍🏻

    Jon2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend in Tondu, Tracey was on hand to help with anything we needed. Lovely outdoor spaces including a pizza oven, which we learnt was harder to master than it looked!

  • Great place to stay.

    Callum2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location for my sisters hen party. Would defnetly recommend to anyone wanting a fab place to stay with a group of friends and family. The hosts go above and beyond to make your stay extra special and think of everything required.

    Emily2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely space. Tracey supplied a docking station for us to play music, let us come early to decorate and even offered us late checkout as they had no one else booked in! The surrounding gardens are beautiful for walks and exploration and the bunkhouse itself was perfect for our needs. We took up the offer of hiring a hot tub, and it was a great idea as the weather was perfect! Thanks!

    Rosie2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at the bunkhouse. Tracey was very welcoming and accommodating. Pizza over was great we really enjoyed using it on one of our evenings here. Thanks!

  • Everything was fab, the location, views, host& the accommodation. Beds were nice & comfy. Everywhere was lovely & clean. Kitchen very well equipped. The hand wash & cream in the bathrooms were lovely! We didn’t use the garden & hot tub, the fact this is shared with the owners would put me off visiting in the summer a little. The Golden Mile pub was a lovely 1 mile walk away & the food was lovely in there & the locals in there were nice & friendly. Taking the public footpath route we saw Ewenny Priory which is worth a visit. The history of it was fascinating.

    Alexandra2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy's place was great! So much better than the pictures. The hot tub was the highlight, it was massive! Very clean and homely, and the walk in shower was amazing.

  • a very nice and confortable house

    Lionel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were attending a wedding in Coychurch so the location was fantastic, with great views. The house is wonderfully spacious and clean, and we loved the underfloor heating downstairs! Lucy was incredibly accommodating and always quick to respond. We were just gutted we’d left our swimming gear at home so we didn’t get to enjoy the hot tub. Would absolutely stay again!

    Aimee2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place very clean and very stylish. Lucy and her husband very welcoming and friendly. Definitely would recommend it 👍🏻

    Tony2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely little apartment, spotlessly clean, cosy and a ten minute walk to bars and restaurants. Excellent value and a very considerate host.

    Abigail2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lee's accomodation is very clean and modern, particularly like the attention to caring for the environment. It would be an even better apartment if the TV was slightly better and if there were more pots/pans for baking or cooking. Lee provided a great service and warned us of unforseen building works (didn't cause an issue) but Lee went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after. Great location (despite being on a roundabout) the road noise doesn't affect you too much. Parking was just on the side of the road, not too bad now as this time of year isn't busy but could be an issue at peak times.

    Jonathan2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place, everything was just perfect

    Ann Marie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

  • This is the third time we've stayed at Lee's flat and it's been great as always. It's a beautiful and clean flat with a lovely playground, funfair and beach at one's front door. Plus a good beauty parlour and a good fish and chip shop nearby. Checking in is very easy and quick. Had lots of fun and hope to come again. Thank you, Lee!

  • Lovely place, has everything you need. Nikki is a great host, she replies to all questions & messages very quickly & I would highly recommend this place to stay at!

    Shan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an extended weekend family trip to Wales to enjoy nature and break away from noisy town. Nikki's place was a very good place where to do that - quiet neighborhood, shore close, nature, adventure park nearby.

    Siim2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, close to the beach, good food at the local pub "The Seagull".

  • Excellent value for money, Nikki made us very welcome for our 3 night stay. Comfortable, warm and clean, good sized rooms with an adjoining bathroom inbetween. Breakfast cereal and milk was provided. Facilities included wifi, tv/DVD, microwave, kettle, fridge and table & chairs. Porthcawl is a lovely seaside town with plenty of places to eat and coastline to visit. Swansea and Cardiff are within easy reach by car. We would definitely stay with Nikki again if we go back to area.

    Julia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing value!! So many thoughtful little things that just made the stay so much more comfortable, the main bedroom had everything we needed and more, plenty of extension leads for phone chargers, tea making facilities, plates, dishes and cutlery, a tv with a DVD player and a mixture of dvds. Plenty of space so when the kids woke up they could join us in the main bedroom for breakfast and to get ready. If we’re ever in the area again we would stay here as our first choice. Thank you for the stay.

    Nicola2020-01-26T00:00:00Z

Flowers and Welsh cakes left - thank you!!

    Gemma2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely and very clean. Milk, tea, coffee and welsh cakes were provided for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. There was a problem with the washing machine, which Laura dealt with and got fixed straight away. A lovely house and a fantastic host - would def recommend.

    Rachel2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Due to unforeseen circumstances at another of Laura's properties, where she had to juggle all of the bookings she held, we didn't actually stay at the property that we booked. However, Laura sourced my family and I another property which was just a few houses further up from our original booking. Laura knew the location was important to us (being bridesmaid and flowergirls at a wedding) so this new house was that bit closer to where we needed to be. Laura was quick to respond to my queries before and during our stay, a very pleasant host. The house Laura found for us was beautiful, spacious and clean. We have no issues whatsoever, only praise. We would definitely recommend Laura as a host!

    Danni2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the loveliest Airbnb properties I have stayed at. The host provides clean bed linen and towels. The rooms are a good size. the host leaves some milk, tea and coffee and some welsh cakes. All nice gestures that make a difference. My family and I have a fab break near the sea and a lovely local shopping area.

    Marie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A tasteful and practical house with everything you need for a great stay in Porthcawl.

    Mike2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very clean & well presented with were lovely added touches too. In the perfect location for all amenities and just a short walk away from the beachfront and town. Laura was very helpful and welcoming, communication was spot on. I would highly recommend staying here :-)

    Amy2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place is very spacious, stylish and extremely well equipped. Combined with a less than 10 minute walk to the beach or town, it was perfect for our family of two adults and two children. It had a washing machine and an airer which meant we didn’t have to return home with a dreaded mound of dirty washing. There was even a bucket and spade for the kids to borrow and take to the beach. Porthcawl is lovely and it wasn’t busy or overcrowded at all when we went. The locals are very nice, friendly and helpful. We would definitely return and stay at Laura’s place again if it was available.

A homely bungalow overlooking Merthyr Mawr sand dunes in South Wales. It is in a beautiful and quiet location with great views across the Bristol Channel. The beach is a 15 minute amble through a nature reserve, where you will find a gorgeous beach with sand, rock pools and not many people. Great for families, the bungalow has a lovely retro feel that puts you at ease (ie its more formica than laminate!). Sleeps 5 (to 7). It is 10 minutes drive from Porthcawl and 30 minutes from Cardiff.
Convector and storage heating. Hot water via immersion heater. Electric shower. Bath. TV/DVD player. Old record player. Beach toys and nets. Beach barbie equipment. Pillows and duvets are provided but please bring your own pillow cases, duvet covers and sheets. There are several tea towels. Please bring your own bath/beach towels.
There is a childrens play area 2 minutes walk up the lane, with a shop nearby stocking all the essentials. Porthcawl is great for families - ice-cream, great fish & chip shops and a funfair! If you like body-boarding or surfing then head to Rest Bay. Pony trecking at Ogmore. The nearest pubs within walking distance are 20 minutes away. The good news is that the walk is through the wooded lane at the back of the dunes to the lovely village green of Newton which has 2 family friendly pubs with good beer and food. There is also a Coop supermarket in Newton.
  • Lovely spacious bungalow delivering the full 70s experience. Certainly a Christmas to be remembered and Stephen was there to answer calls straight away, he couldn't have been more helpful. Perfect living room view even in bad weather and toasty warm. Only complaint is the long grassed Bank outside the bungalow with no footpath.

    Tracey2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • great place to stay loved the cottage

    Esther2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal family bungalow for children & dogs. Basic but comfortable, apart from the double bed mattress, which has seen better days. Lots of space, and a great beach less than 10 minutes walk downhill. A steady climb back up, but a comfy relaxing space when you get there. Our 7 & 5 year old granddaughters & dog love it. This was our second visit. There's a play area in the caravan park next door, but the shop/cafe is only good if you like very basic provisions. We take all our food & don't leave by car during our trip. No internet, so a more relaxing break if you can do without it!

    Rhiannon & Adrian2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described, everything was straight forward, no issues at all. Kitchen was well stocked although we only did tea and toast so can't really say we used anything other than the kettle and the toaster. Great views, road up to it is very rough bit of a shock at first but got used to it. Will be booking again . Thank you Stephen

    Debbie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen is a great host and very responsive to questions. Location is superb with beach’s and the Brecons all within reach. Thanks!

    Phin2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow is very comfortable ,clean and the location is amazing. The view from the window across the bay is stunning. The area is beautiful and so peaceful with a great walk over the dunes to the beach. We would love to go back one day.

    Shirley2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ok so the kitchen could have been a bit cleaner and I missed having a vegetable peeler and I don't like glass tables but I'm being picky. I would not hesitate booking another stay. Absolutely great that the dog could come and being dog friendly, and having lovely surroundings and views and being easy to get to is more important than being clean.

    Therese2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • In summary, a comfortable home away from home. The bungalow is in a secluded spot which means that it was quiet and the air felt clean, and it was also close enough to Pyle and Bridgend to not be completely cut off from everyday items when we needed them. Items are also sold on a family-friendly caravan park close-by. The property was spacious, clean and quiet. Steve quickly replied all messages ahead of our arrival and he provided very detailed description of how to reach and access the property. I stayed with family for the Dragon Ride and we enjoyed our stay. The beach is close enough to have a relaxing walk and dip, views are splendid and we had all that we needed to cook our own food. Highly recommended.

My home is colourful, warm, calm and friendly and relaxed. The house is minutes from the town which has a great selection of Cafes, Pubs and Restaurents.Along with some lovely shops. I am also minutes away from the beautiful seafront and beaches. You are welcome to bring one well behaved dog for no extra charge. There is a kettle, cups, tea, coffee milk and sugar in the room.
The guest room is medium sized and I let it as a single room for £30 a night or as a double room for £40 per night. The bathroom is shared with myself and there is also a downstairs loo. .If you are a smoker, you may access the back garden.
My house is in a lovely part of Porthcawl with the seafront and beaches at one end of the street and the town at the other end and just a couple of minutes walk. There are some really nice restaurents, cafes and shops. Parking outside the house isn't guaranteed, but somewhere on the street is fine. There is very little crime in the area and walking around at night time in the town to pubs etc., is very safe.

Ar Lan Y Mor translates to' beside the sea ' which is exactly what it is ! It backs directly onto the sand dunes and is a short walk from Newton beach where children and dogs can run free. The beach is dog friendly all year We have an enclosed garden which is safe and secure . The house is ready for you to enjoy your break with one double bedroom and a second with 2 singles. It has designated car parking space directly outside of the house

If you like surfing or golfing, you will be a short distance from Rest Bay for some of the best surf around and 3 very good golf courses all just a 10 minute car ride away. Horse riding Is also available nearby in Ogmore. It’s not unusual to see horse riders enjoying galloping on the edge of the sea . Porthcawl is a family resort with a busy high street and a promenade which has some lovely coffee shops and bistros/ restaurants where you can sit and enjoy looking out to sea . On the edge of town there is a small fun fair . Porthcawl is a popular seaside town and easily accessible from the M 4
A small house with parking and on the edge of a vast expanse of sand dunes . Walking distance to Porthcawl along the beach which takes about 25 minutes . Margam Park is close by which is lovely to visit with dogs and children Kenfig nature reserve is also very close and great to explore. Cardiff and Swansea are easily accessible from Newton Not to mention the Brecon Beacons and the Gower peninsula. So much to see and do it really is a lovely part of South Wales and just off the M4
  • Really great place to stay. The beach behind the house was lovely. The old part of the village was very pleasant and the pubs in walking distance. Excellent base for exploring further afield - we went to Gower Peninsular and Brecon Beacons (on different days) and managed to top and tail each trip with a beach walk in the morning and evening. Our dog loved it! House very clean and very well equipped. Denise was really kind and helpful in advance of and during our stay. Would happily visit again.

    Roisin2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little house backing straight onto the sand dunes and a beautiful beach. Everything was very clean and had everything we needed.

    Suzanne2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house had great location right near the beach. The house exceeded our expectations and had everything you could need. Check in was very easy and any problems or questions we had during the stay Denise was very quick to answer. Would definitely stay again.

    Fiona2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Just a wonderful house in a superb location. The little extras that Denise kindly added made it even better than we had hoped for and we will certainly be back. Spotlessly clean and we didn't want for anything

    Louise2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Denise provided not only lots of details before we got to her place but also a call to ensure we were all set and prepared. Her very clean place is ideally located behind sand dunes of Newton Bay and minutes drive from Rest Bay which is perfect for surfing and long beach days (with cafe and toilets facilities in car park just next to the beach). Porthcawl was in between. Denise also suggested Margam country park which was ideal for my kids to run around. It also has GoApe. Inside her home all items were comfortable and well thought of including garden, tv with Netflix. There was also a personal touch of birthday card, sweets, drinks and a birthday banner up, as one of my kids had a birthday upon arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would come back.

    Ruth2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little stay on the beach. Perfect for exploring the dunes and fun on the beach.

    Joey2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • An amazingly warm welcome to a wonderful spot. The owners were super helpful, with lots of little touches throughout the house. Perfect spot for my family and I to relax.. with the wonderful beach at our finger tips. A lovely clean house, prepared perfectly for our arrival.

    Gabbie2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This house is perfect. It is clean, the beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you need (including some basics like oil, vinegar etc and also tea & coffee) and it backs onto the sand dunes which provided hours of entertainment for my two boys and dog. I don't think we could have asked for more. Little extras like Welsh cakes and milk were much appreciated. I recommend The Jolly Sailor for a drink - dog and kid friendly (easy walk along dunes by back of gardens then up Beach Road). I really hope we can come back before too long

  • Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to stay in Moira’s flat as it was accidentally double booked, however Moira was super apologetic and went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay in Porthcawl by sorting out alternative accommodation for us at the Waterfront round the corner (which was great) - she also let us use the parking behind her flat while we were staying at the Waterfront which was really helpful. Had a great stay in porthcawl, thanks again Moira!

Designed for the perfect getaway, tucked away in a private corner of our garden, where nature is truly at its best. Enjoy a soak in your own private hot tub, chill out on the decking area with marshmallows on the fire, overlooking beautiful views of the Garw Valley or head indoors and cosy up next to the fire with a warm cup of hot chocolate or a glass of bubbly. This beautifully finished Nest in the woods is ideal if you fancy getting away from busy lives to do as little as you like.
Our Shepherds Hut is situated in a private corner at the back of our garden between a little forrest of trees, mountainous views and your own spacious decking area. We have tried to create a rustic yet warm and cosy area where you can feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Whether you visit to relax and soak in the hot tub or fancy long walks and admiring nature, we have it all. The space- our Shepard hut is beautifully designed to ensure it is easy and relaxing to settle into as soon as you arrive. Once inside, you will find a fully fitted kitchen with a butlers sink, small oven and two hobs, a kettle, toaster, fridge and all essential utensils, with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh milk. Once you have cooked up a storm in the kitchen, we have created the cutest dining area that you slide out when you want to use it or push back in to get access to the bedroom area or to simply have a little more space inside the hut. The beautifully finished bathroom includes a shower and complimentary toiletries. The log burner is perfect for those cold winter nights and keeps the whole hut cosy and warm and creates the perfect glow of light inside when the sun goes down. When it's time for a little shut eye, you can climb into the snug bed and be sure to switch off for a quality nights sleep. Inside the sleeping area is also a tv with Netflix. Outside space- as soon as you walk up your private walkway into Nyth Coetir, all outdoor space is yours to enjoy. Step up on to the decking area and keep warm in front of the fire pit or create a BBQ for breakfast or evening meal or melt marshmallows for a little tasty fun! Alternatively you could sit down and relax, enjoy the views or watch the birds in trees the choice is yours. Finally why not jump in the hot tub, connect to the Bluetooth speakers and relax for hours whilst admiring the views. Neighbourhood- Summer or winter, there is plenty to do in the area. At the bottom of our lane is a walking path that takes you further into the valley or you could follow the river and head towards Bryn Garw Nature park with lots to see and a cute little tea room when you get there. The area also has some great cycling trails if you fancy taking our bikes out and heading out for the day. Getting around- We are just 10 minutes from the M4 motorway, shops and restaurants, only 10 minutes to the nearest train station (where parking is free) and head to Cardiff, Swansea or further afield. We have a local bus service in the village or we are happy to offer a taxi service if you let us know in advance. Other things to note- we ask that you read our Guest Manual for top tips on the area and the how to guides on our appliances and hot tub if we are unable to greet you on the day you arrive. We are also happy to help if you need us during your stay so do not hesitate to get in touch.
  • Such a beautiful, tranquil stay. Loved the hot tub and all the lovely birds that visit the feeders in the garden. Really quiet, not over looked, stylish, clean and has everything could want. Thoughtful little touches make it all the better.

  • We had the perfect weekend at this amazing Shepherds Hut. The hosts were incredible and gave us so many thoughtful extra touches. Fire lit, hot tub bubbling and such a beautiful hamper for our arrival. Will absolutely be recommending this place to all our friends, and sincerely hoping we will be back!

  • A perfect romantic little getaway. The hut is so lovely we just stayed in almost the whole trip! Hot tub spot on too even in the rain. Ayse was a wonderful host and greeted us on arrival, gave us a tour and showed us how to use everything. It was spotless, we had a lovely little welcome hamper and a card, and there was a fire burning when we arrived so nice and cosy too. Great communication all round, with written directions and a sweet little map drawn by their daughter. We will definitely return :)

  • We wanted a quick weekend break to relax and enjoy some peace and got exactly that. It was easy to find and only 10 minutes from the M4. We were met by Leon when we arrived who was very friendly and told us all we need to know about the place and how to work the hot tub and we were left some really nice welcoming touches to celebrate valentines day. The hut very pretty, clean, warm, cosy and comfortable even with storm Dennis in full force outside. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • We had a fabulous weekend break, the caravan is beautifully clean and had everything we needed. It’s location right by the sea is perfect and the onsite amenities were only a short walk away, quick and easy to get to. Communication and check in was really straightforward with no problems. The children loved the site with all the activities they could do and the evening entertainment was really good. We will certainly come again.

    Lisa2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really great location less than a minute walk to the beach. Living space was large and the caravan was very clean and modern. Easy to access and Porthcawl is lovely.

  • This is a lovely spacious caravan beautifully cleaned, perfect location, the only advice i would have is please put some folding chairs under the bed for guest to use, the caravan next door loaned us some as Tesco didn't sell them neither did the markey Xx

  • I would recommend this accommodation to anyone it had everything we required

    Liz2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • 2 of us stayed at Guy's apartment as we were taking part in the Dragon Tour (cycling). It is very conveniently located (for the main ride start in Margam Park), clean (very) and well equipped. There is a small village (Nottage) about a mile away with I think 3 pubs - good for eating out. Communication with Guy was very good, and the information provided prior to arrival and also in the apartment was excellent. If we decide to do the event next year I would be very happy to stay again.

    Paul2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely well-equipped and relatively spacious flat, super close to Rest Bay (which is a great sandy and rock-pooling beach). It's a little walk into Porthcawl, but there are both taxis and buses easily available (as well as lots of parking). Our kids loved the beaches (which are amazing) and there is lots to do in the area. The flat was super clean and great for a break away! Would definitely recommend.

    Catherine2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, with full facilities, plenty of space and close to the beach. Host was more then helpful with checking in and providing a guide to all the local amenities. Will definitely come again.

  • Great airy apartment in a fantastic location. Comfortable beds and soft towels are a bonus. Guy is quick to respond to emails and is very accommodating. If you love your nature don’t forget Kenfig Nature Reserve, Dunraven Beach (and the walled gardens, viewpoint and castle behind it) and of course the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes.

  • The apartment is an amazing place to stay, beautifully furnished and so close to the beach. It feels luxurious but still homely. There were little touches in every room, and the area was perfect for our Welsh getaway. We wouldnt hesitate to return again very soon. Amy is such a great host - she was quick to respond and gave us very clear instructions. Thanks for an incredible stay!

    Lucy2020-03-18T00:00:00Z

  • This truly is a 5* Airbnb. There is nothing I can mark down at my stay at no.6. It’s exactly like the pictures, a perfect place to rest and unwind. Walking distance to the beach, peaceful dreamy location. All of Amy’s little touches add a bit of luxury to each room. I will definitely be staying again. Thank you

    Lisa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Well I thought I had already found the best Airbnb in the UK and then I stayed at No.6. It really is the perfect apartment. Part of a beautiful historic building No.6 offers a very special place to stay. It’s completely stunning, so well designed and finished to the standard of any 5 star hotel yet with the convenience of self catering. There is everything you could want from a dishwasher to underfloor heating to gorgeous comfy furniture and the beds are amazing. I haven’t slept so well I’m months. Every detail has been thought of down to the very lovely toiletries, it’s like the home you always plan to have but never get round to creating. There is one problem with No.6 though....... you will never want to leave. If you want a perfect weekend escape or a week away with your family this place does everything brilliantly. I will certainly be back.

    Jonathan2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

Here we have a two bedroom apartment in the heart of Nottage Village, within the seaside town of Porthcawl. It has been modernised to a very high standard, comprising of an open plan living area and kitchen, two spacious bedrooms and a large bathroom. The dining and living area have two large sofas and an island with stools, making it ideal for socialising. The surrounding village has three lovely pubs/restaurants serving excellent food, and the beaches and town centre are within walking distance.
  • What a lovely apartment and would recommend. There’s 2 pubs in walking distance and the town not to far away either! Look forward to staying here again x

    Hayley2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic apartment in a lovely little village! Picking up the keys was really quick and straightforward, and we were met with a home away from home when we opened the door. Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean, the apartment had everything we needed for the weekend. There are some gorgeous pubs close by and it’s an easy 20 minute walk down to the main promenade for more shops bars and cafes. Would definitely stay here again, thank you!

  • Great location and very roomy, comfortable and clean accommodation. Has everything you need for a great escape to wales. Only thing to be aware of is that’s it’s close to 2 pubs and the local shop so can be a little noisy if you have small humans that are light sleepers. After closing time all is quiet though. Would definitely stay again - great hosts and very responsive. Thank you again.

Elms Cottage dates back to 1840 and is reported to be the original Harbour Masters home. Tucked away on a private lane but in the heart of local amenities including a wide selection of pubs, shops, cafes and beaches. You can step out and immediately see the beach. The cottage boasts exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings, and original stone floors. There are two bathrooms including a ground floor wet room. A covered outdoor area with seating makes outdoor entertaining possible all year!
The cottage provides opportunities for many different holidays. Tucked away at the end of a lane behind wooden gates and a cherry tree you are transported back to the 19th century. With a range master, a set of wood burners, dining table, and inbuilt wine rack it is a perfect place to relax. We particularly love the covered outdoor area which heats up during the day meaning that you can sit outside until the early hours. The front garden boasts a range of plants, trees and a garden shed that guests can admire from two well placed sun loungers. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The upstairs bathroom has a large shower and the downstairs shower has a wet room. The large sofa bed is a comfortable spot for watching TV or relaxing. We also have a secure space for bikes and other sports equipment.
Close by there are an abundance of pubs, cafes and eateries. We are a minute walk from Porthcawl’s best fish and chip shop. I can personally vouch for all 5 of the Sunday roasts that you can get with a 3 minute walk. If you want more choice the main high street is only a couple of minutes further accessed by a pedestrian underpass. For those of you who love running you can run for several miles along the coastal path. Porthcawl is also a Mecca for cyclists who travel miles to grab a cake and coffee by the seafront. Opportunities for water sports are close by as is the ever popular Coney beach fairground. Porthcawl has a vibrant live music scene and pubs close by often have local bands playing during the week.
  • A spacious (more so than the pictures give on), comfortable and welcoming cottage, with a fantastic fire which helped warm us with a storm raging outside. I would stay at the location again, and I would certainly visit Porthcawl again. A local food highlight was Woodyz, very good pizza!

    Philip2020-02-19T00:00:00Z

  • Great cozy character cottage a few hundred yards from beach . Lovely homely touches would definitely book again !

    Janet2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, well equipped and lovingly-restored cottage, perfectly placed to enjoy the delights of this stunning coastline. The cottage interior is very stylish, but cosy - I was very touched by the pre made-up fire in the wood burner which just required one match to start. A lovely touch. And the chocolate and marshmallows too - so kind. Melanie is a very generous and responsive host who was only too willing to help and support. My only hesitation in saying that it’s my favourite Air BnB so far is that it might not be available for our next visit!

    Louise2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place! It is quietly tucked away in a little hidden lane right near the centre of Porthcawl, just a short walk from the beach and local restaurants (we liked the Saltwater Inn and Double Zero); the cottage itself has lovely thick walls, enough rooms and spaces and two good showers. The beaches within easy walk here are simply magnificent - from sheltered sandy bays to roaring waves over jagged rocks; lovely rock pools, smooth sand and towering sand dunes. In all a perfect get away by the seaside.

    Ian2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely house. One to recommend to friends and family.

    Robert2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cosy cottage! Lovely quiet spot right in the centre of Porthcawl so perfect location. Clean, very comfy beds and Melanie has thought of everything for a perfect stay. Cottage is beautifully furnished/renovated and has 2 lovely fireplaces. Loved the complimentary toasting mallows, just a shame we didn’t have time to use them! I noticed a previous review mentioned there wasn’t Wi-fi but it has obviously been installed since then. Melanie was a great host, very accommodating, helpful, excellent at communicating and was genuinely keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend to others and we would love to come back for longer. Thank you! PS. Can highly recommend fish and chips at Beales across the road!

    Deborah2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was outstanding, perfect for a small family or a get together with friends. It has all the amenities and a great space outdoors, undercover, for the unpredictable british weather ! Definitely want to rebook for some time next year. Location is great for the kids or partying, loads to do in the area and we managed to spend very little money as we were able to eat in while cooking in the lovely kitchen.

  • Beautiful house in a central Location. We stayed in Adrian’s house over Christmas when visiting relatives in Porthcawl and it was absolutely perfect. The house was spotlessly clean and had three very comfortable bedrooms. The bathrooms were all great with lovely showers. The hosts had left a very thoughtful box full of toiletries that guests might have forgotten but needed. We cooked dinner for eight people in the kitchen and there were plenty of plates, cutlery, cooking utensils etc. The dining room provided us with a very jolly evening. Breakfast was a communal affair around the kitchen island and there was plenty of room for us. It was a real shame that we didn’t use the large garden but a wet December in Wales didn’t quite allow for this. The house is very conveniently located for the shops in the town, the beach and the many pubs and restaurants. A favourite fish and chip shop (Finnegans) is on Station Hill just five minutes from the house right next door to an excellent wine shop. We would love to visit this house again and would recommend it very highly.

  • Great house, super location. We (me, my husband and 5 yr old) have just returned from a lovely weekend in Porthcawl, staying at Adrian's house. It's a beautiful period property with many of the original features remaining and having recently been renovated to a very high standard, it's a charming place to stay. Walkable to the beach, funfair, RNLI station, esplanade, town centre and playground. Little touches like salt and pepper, dishwasher tabs, soap and tea and coffee, flowers, board games were added bonuses and made the stay extra special. The house was absolutely spotless. I'd highly recommend and would definitely return.

  • Wow! What an absolutely fabulous place. The pictures on this site do not do it full justice. It’s really big, beautiful, comfy, stylish, really well equipped and perfectly situated for a short walk to all the local amenities. There were lovely thoughtful touches at the property and super soft blankets, towels, bedding and cushions.....I have to buy the dark grey ones ASAP lol We had a really wonderful time and were reluctant to leave. • As a family of five, we were a little uncertain about booking a couple of rooms in a house as opposed to the whole place, but it really couldn’t have been better. The space was clean and had everything we needed. Allison and Richard were friendly, accommodating and helpful.

  • Such a wonderful friendly welcome. Amazing location with sea views from some rooms. Free parking on the street - though this is bound to be limited at busier times. Brilliant facilities including a full kitchen with washing machine. Tea and coffee making facilities in our room. Beth went the extra mile to make us feel at home in her home.

  • The house has a great feeling, it has been a joy staying in a large three bedroom house with a short walk to the beach and the shops. It's a very quiet road but a problem finding parking spaces, but if you're not intending on driving off during your stay ten this won't cause an issue

  • We loved our stay here. Just 3 minutes walk from the sea, lovely spacious rooms and a great selection of game and DVD’s. Host was fantastic, keeping in touch and helping us. Highly recommended!!

Chart House is a feature maisonette flat, right in the centre of Porthcawl. There is soo much space in this flat; it forms the upper two floors of a Victorian Town House. It's design captures the maritime heritage whilst providing a comfortable retreat within the South Wales town. The location is right opposite a church and boasts a five minute walk to the bustling town centre and the seafront, whilst the resort beach of Rest Bay is a 15 minute walk - easy reach to catch the surf.
There are 3 bedrooms, each with a double bed and one of which has a single bunk bed above it. The lounge also has 2 x sofa beds, so plenty of space to spread about.
  • Really nice flat, very roomy and modern facilities.

    Huw2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

Seemless check in process with nice touches - even provided bread / butter / milk / eggs to keep us going. Highly recommended.
